Well, I promised pictures...and just now got around to delivering. XD Someday, I will wear my costume again and take some decent photos. Until that day comes, um...here goes.

This was my first time making my own costume for anything. I had a lot to learn to make it, and am still learning a lot.

I made all the elements of the costume except the wig, the headband, and the legwarmers. The first two were bought; The legwarmers were made by =Tissue-Issues

The vest was obviously the most trying, but whatever. It was also the best part, I think. I really wanted the snaps to work on the shoulder parts, but alas, Fate was against me. Overall, I liked it.

I nearly died from the heat...though.

In my excitement to get the armwraps and legwrap on, I put it on the wrong leg at first. Oh, dyslexia! I did not realize my mistake until later, when the camera was away...Oh well.
(My youthful thumbs-up is marred by a band-aid...because I literally sliced my thumb open during preview night and bled insanely all over my stuff.)

I do not know this Gaara, but she was kind enough to fight me. XD Anyway, I forgot to close my vest clips...serves me right for buying something (the vest held my wallet and phone).

Anyway, so that was my adventure at SD Comic Con. Not much to say, other than the costumes were rushed at the end, and we kind of were short on time and Neji lost interest in her costume so it never did get completely finished (close, but no cigar). Maybe another time.

Tonight, after watching Naruto on Cartoon Network (yes, the DUB), we switched over to Animal Planet to watch the last of this showing of the American Kennel Club/Eukanuba National Championship (which, for anyone living under a rock, is a dog show).

The host is a man named Bob Goen, formerly from Entertainment Tonight. (You can see him here on an episode of Wheel of Fortune [link] )

Well, the point is...right after watching Naruto, he sounds an awful lot like JIRAIYA's English dub voice, David Lodge. It's a strange revelation, I know, but now, still listening to the AKC/Eukanuba Nat Championship, even knowing he's Bob Goen, HE STILL SOUNDS LIKE JIRAIYA.

I can't believe I was included!

What's more, I am very surprised that it was the Jet portrait which was chosen. While I'm personally very proud of that endeavor, that certainly was not the piece of work that garnered the most acclaim or renown from fans in my gallery. I'm tickled pink! It almost makes me want to try my hand at more traditional mediums ^_^

In other news:
Today my seasonal job officially ended and I return once more to the unemployed masses on the hunt for a new occupation in the waning job-market of the post-holiday season.

But, seriously, I am not sad. I enjoyed my time at Sears, even if I did bitch and moan about the stress of credit apps and tiresome hours. I have something for my resume and I am happy. I am also not without paychecks, so I'm not doing so terribly. I can survive another month's worth of health insurance. All is right with the world.

Perhaps in the meantime I will have time for online endeavors?

I wanted to thank you guys for those and let you know I hadn't forgotten about you...I just wanted to make that glaring (and ever increasing) number of artworks go away before my poor account exploded from them. Thumbnails helped a lot. I sincerely recommend it. If you guys have the $8 to spare, 3 months of a DA sub and those handy thumbnails work wonders.

At some point this journal will go through a real layout overhaul, banner and everything, but until that day comes, it's just a little simple css tweak.

New pic of Neji [link] is maybe part of a series. We'll see, though. Depends on how I feel after I start working on the other boys. Nej was fairly easy. Lee (adorable lovable Lee) will be difficult. I bet Sasuke will be darn near impossible. Naruto, Shika, and Gaara are also likely to be pains in the rear. The apple positively drove me batty for a while there. And Lee and Naruto will have glass in theirs...gonna hunt for tutorials before I start coloring, I guess.

I need more ideas for comics. Everything I think of is too long. Hm... Gots to go hunt down some short fanfic for inspiration.

Yeah, Yue. Her hair, her dress, those floaty pieces that come off the dress...everything is giving me grief. And for Suki...well, I'm just mad that I had to love a character with such a freakin' complicated outfit. Gosh darn it. Wufei never was this bad. Wufei had easy clothes. Of course, Wufei was hardly ever in those clothes... jk I usually had trouble with him too. Preventers uniform and all. Never a break. Sokka's got nice clothes, though. Easy clothes. Like pjammy-Luke in SW:ANH. Easy. As. Pie. (it's gotta be late when the first thing I think of to follow up "easy as pie" is Billy's exclamation of "I like pie!" *is shot*)

So the idea part. I'd like some suggestions for simple (maybe), worksafe (definitely), and preferrably not too large, pics that I can work on while hanging around grandma's house. Avatar's good. Gundam Wing too. Both of those I'm familiar enough with most of the basic character designs (costume-details are another matter) that I don't need to tote along references for the base pic. FMA might even work, and KH/KHII...but it depends.

Milly tried to get me to draw Danny Phantom for her yesterday with sidewalk chalk. Told her I couldn't, because I don't remember him that well (in retrospect, I probably could have managed decently). I think she understood (she's five, and one of my favorite people sometimes, even if she is overwhelming). I'll brush up on kiddy cartoons, like Dora the Explorer, for her and try drawing something next time. Oh, speaking of fangirling, my innerfangirl was let loose on a Zutara pic (oh yes, how original...the single most popular pairing in Avatar-dom. Well, I can't draw Suki all the time.^^) It's called Iceburn.

Go easy, please. It's been a while since I streched my sketching skills, let alone my digital painting. The poster art wasn't nearly as labor-intensive as Iceburn. O.o I was ready to kill Katara. Dark skin is so lovely, but so difficult to render!

But enough moaning. ^_^ I'm riding the happy-wave from the reviews. Thank you!
