I went to Grand Tetons National Park and Yellowstone National Park two weeks ago. About 300 pictures later, I may find some to post here. I recomend the vacation to anyone who doesn't mind long walks and hours of sitting in a car with beautiful pine trees and mountain streams on the side of the road. One of the coolest parts of the vacation was when we saw a herd of about 30 buffalo on the road. the things were huge and came about five feet from our truck. I also saw a bear from a few hundred feet away and lots of elk.

My sister has taken my mom's old position at our church, but my old youth pastor is moving to new york. the only person on staff left from before is now the secretary. my parents and I found a new church with a balanced view. [link] if you're interested in hearing the pastor. all the sermons are on the internet.

finally, I'm really hoping no one I know in real life reads this. I'm thinking about asking one of my friends out. we've known each other for a year now. she used to say she would never date anyone younger than her, I'm ten months younger, but she said something to me and the rest of my friends the other day that she might be willing to date someone a little younger than herself. I don't know if the comment was directed at me, but it might have been. she'll be going to college in a neighboring state next year while I finish my senior year. Do you think I should ask her out? and should I ask her in person, on the phone, or with a text message. I was thinking of using a text, but I don't know if that could be taken the wrong way. any advice is appreciated.

p.s. it's not high school drama because she'll be in college.

My mom resigned then spent the whole week with my cousin, so she's ok. the council at my church hired my sister to replace my mom temporarily because no one else on council knows what to do. I went last sunday to see what changed. the new pastor was very conservative, we lost about 2/3 of the families with kids, and the praise team (church band) was smaller than usual. there were a couple more old people tho. I don't know what will happen in the next few months though, my sister gets her new job in april, and my daddid all the repairs on the church. he wired all the electrical stuff.

Things around me are falling apart. I haven't been directly affected yet, but it's coming fast. my mom is the worship director at my church. my whole family was there to help start it 11 years ago. my dad is the head sound technician, my sister is on 3/4 of the praise teams (worship leaders), my uncle, sister, grandpa, dad, and many of my friends have been on the council. so our church is a pretty important place in my life.

yesterday night, my mom learned that a group of people (who go against everything I thought our church stood for) have been trying to get our pastor fired. he has been the only pastor our church has had so far, and he had a unique way of teaching. He has been dealing with these people since before he was hired, and may be resigning this week. if this happens, my mom will resign too. my family's group of friends is held together through the church, but we are the few who don't agree with the conservatives. most of the staff leadership in the church is not a part of the conservatives either. if our pastor resigns, my church as i know it will die.

this will be a lot like changing schools, I think. so I may be ranting or updating on my life here now. My mom's life for the past five years is changing too, so she will need support from me. if i don't have answers, i'll ask here.

The conservatives seem to believe that a church should be for a group of people who believe the same thing to get together and feel better than everybody else. my pastor, family, and some of our friends who agree tried to run the church in a way that kept our doors open to anyone in the community. this made them mad, so they're taking over the church (mutiny, coup, hijacking) through e-mails and other means in a way that my mom didn't even know until yesterday. I'll know more by this weekend, but please keep me in your prayers (if you are religious)

over long weekends and days that i'm avoiding homework, I've begun to go to OneManga [link] and picking a random completed manga that stands out to me. It's a great way to kill time, and I've discovered a couple of good mangas that aren't popular. The last one i read was Kashimashi [link] (if you want to read it, you can find chapter 30-36 on MangaFox). it was somewhat odd, but it had a strange impact on me. I don't know why it stood out, but it was good.

So, my challenge to you is to read one of the mangas from the first link above, longer than ten chapters, or Kashimashi, and make a journal about it.

this could be a great way to discover new manga, and I'd love to hear your feedback on the idea, you could even challenge all of your friends to do the same!

you could try it with anime if you want, but those never keep my attention as wall as manga

but just yesterday and today, i began to feel a strange happiness for no real reason. when i realize it and think about it, i suddenly feel hollow and shallow. there is no reason i should feel either way that i can think of, no new relationships or broken relationships. I just felt happy then cold and empty. is this just me? am i missing something? am i just tired or something? If you have anything to say more than "feel better", i'd like to hear it.

I just thought I'd say something because I've spent about ten or more hours on it already.

School is boring. Composition strategies is time consuming and I don't like the teacher. British Literature is a better teacher and subject, but still an English class, therefore writing. I'm working on my chain mail in art. Chem is turning into math, which sucks. my math teacher still doesn't know what he's talking about, and unfortunately, it's not just reviewing anymore. We're studying the Cold War in History, my project is on nukes.

how are your new semesters going? (if you're done yet) also, am I crazy for trying to make my own chain mail?

NOTE: The characters are in the development stages, before staring this, i'd only thought about two of them.

NOTE2: i need good names for these characters. if you have any ideas, please tell me

NOTE3: I don't even know if i'll do anything with them.

NOTE4: the basis of this story is the 8 elemental powers. the people who can use these powers are called catalysts. the catalysts are about as common as benders in Avatar: TLA. the different catalysts come from different countries, but there are some mixes between them. a matter catalyst (earth, air, metal, and water) can control any energies of their element as long as they have contact through themselves or more of that element. Energy catalysts(light, electricity, and heat) can control their element in any type of matter (except crystals, i'll cover that later) but some matter transfers the energy better (metal transfers electricity better than air). life calalysts are very rare, but are able to control plants and weak minded animals, and communicate telepathically. they are pretty much a combination of druid and necromancer. the catalysts must follow the laws of conservation of energy and matter. energy can be stored in anything with a crystalline structure (salt, diamonds, gems) stronger structures can hold more energy.

ok. this is the main reason i haven't said much about my idea yet. i can't figure out a good way to explain things in the story.

Guardian- I live simply with just some homemade pants and a tunic
Lina- I talk the plant's into making me what i want.
Syrus- stone chest plate and bag of sand. then i just have normal clothes. (time period is similar to Reneisance.)

algebra: easy enough class because I understand it as long as I don't need the teacher to explain something(he doesn't know how to do it). he give too much homework too. daily assignments of about 30 problems. but quizzes and tests are easy.

history: good teacher, so the class is fun, but it's pure memorization so I have trouble. he's said he'll give a lot of homework, but I haven't seen much yet.

CHEMISTRY!!: I love this class. I don't know why, but chemistry is just something that I am interested in, so it holds my attention. my teacher is a geek, but he knows what he's doing and how to help us understand. I just have to wait for the class to catch up with what I've figured out by myself.

study hall: I get a mountain dew and read a book. none of the teachers give homework I can't finish in class.

Personal (forced) fitness: lift weights or run in circles. our exam is graded by an A being what it takes to get into the military academys. I don't like the teacher. no one even calls him mr., we call him coach, and i've never even done school sports.

lunch: food

art: I take my computer and work with my tablet. can't get on da tho, the server still blocks me on my own computer. proxys don't work either. the teacher is good. even if she doesn't really do anything but give advice on what to do. (wow, my only female teacher this semester)

bible: pretty much a graded bible study. the teacher is cool and we usually end class 15 minutes early and listen to music til the last bell rings.

so I've got seven periods, not four like you strange canadians. and only two teachers I don't like. pretty good so far.

and just a random note because people are making me mad: USE YOUR BLINKERS! when you drive. too many people are unpredictable and i get stuck waiting to see what they'll do.

I'm also trying to get my friend to join da. he's a writer, but he is in my art class too.

I starrted school thursday. one of my teachers has said he will be giving homework every day, another that we need a notebook specifically for his class because of massive amounts of notes. I realized that school is just as boring as staying home all day, just no tv or computer. I'm happy to see my two good friends again, along with all my other friends from last year.

I got a small promotion at work so I may be getting more after school hours.

in short, I'll be busy, but the upside is i'm taking chemistry (something I've wanted to learn since I realized I suck at computer stuff.) with one of my favorite teachers. so I may become more science facty (my new word) in comments.

I like it, the message center is much easier to work with now that I can reply to comments without loading a new page for the message and parent. devwatch lets you look through the pics like you're in a gallery, and gives you previews. search allows you to choose your categories instead of typing in the whole category chain, and the more button has most of what you'll ever use.

and I have been talking about doing a contest for a while now and I've decided to do a yin-yang/light-dark theme. There won't be prizes, just recognition. I will be submitting something too and if you will submit something please leave a note here.

1. the picture should use opposites as a theme like light/dark, fire/water, good/evil. or whatever you can think of.
2. OCs are best, but if you can'tthink of one and want to use other characters, go ahead. If you can think of a way to do it without people, that's good too.
3. please color it! B&W is great, but color is so much more interesting. (I'll accept it if your theme is B&W)

I think that the pics should be done by July 15

EDIT: If you can think of a good way to use the theme in writing, go ahead. Just stay with rule 1, after that, it's all up to you.

What fictional character do you relate most to and why?

I relate best to Shino from Naruto, He doesn't talk much and that makes him seem cooler than he probably is, he is bad at hand to hand combat, but is still great with what he can do well.
