Ok, I know some of you are awaiting pictures from my trip to Colorado, but I've had a couple delays in putting new artwork up. First, I took mostly panoramic shots, and I'm working with my dad to put those together because they are a minimum of 20 shots a piece, and I know one of them is closer to 30, so I have to wait until he's not busy as well. Also, since I've been home, I was sick and lazy, and I'm slowly starting to pull my work together and I'm promising Co pics hopefully by the end of the next week.

I'm a little stressed, but only because I don't know exactly what to read, but that's normal for me, so I'll just wing it once I get up there -- probably start with Corso's "Marriage" and go from there, read a little politcal works, a few love poems, a few more hate poems, just round it all out! I can't wait! Wish me luck everybody!

So I gave in finally, and I'm starting to see some business roll my way. I've got a long project of shooting and organizing submitted artwork (my mom is head of the Youth Art Month in Indiana, so I'm helping her get things situated - she's technically challenged, let's just say!). I've got to squeeze in some portraits sometime early this week, and though I won't really see a whole lot of money for ME, it will go a long way into getting ink and new paper that I need pretty badly. Here's to getting the ball rolling!

I suppose I should start doing portraits because I've been getting offers to shoot some very pretty girls. Haven't turned them down, but haven't said yes yet either. Suppose it's time to bite the bullet and do some people shots.

I decided to start a photography business. It's actually jsut a self-promotion business, so I'll be doing graphic design, and hopefully some catering, too, but the photography will be the easiest to start making money from. I'll be doing a LOT of stock photos, but I've already got a deal worked out to sell some postcards at one newsstand by the city-county building, so I'm hoping things will take off from there. Everybody wish me luck!

The Dennis Filter Project was a month-long experimentation in a black-and-white darkroom. My friend (Nick Criggar) and I wanted to make B&W prints from color negatives, but the quality was comprosmised so much, we refused to turn anything in. We eventually settled on the proper amount of magenta filtering, known as "Dennis" named after the peasant Dennis in Monty Python Quest for the Holy Grail. When asked how old he was, he said "Dennis," and later revealed his age was 37. We used a #2 and 7 #5 magenta filters stacked on top of each other, and exposed the paper for 5-7 minutes, depending on the negative. This added a lot of graininess to the picture, but I think it gives almost a nostalgic quality to the photgraph. I have made several prints with the Dennis filter, and I will try my best to put them online.
