ANYWAYS... HOLY CRUD. SNOW!!

No lie, people... The highest level of snow was up to my thigh, just below my waist. Then again... seeing as I'm 5'2'' or something like that, I'm not sure if that's really as impressive of a measurement as it seems to be.

Now why would Alex suddenly start some kinda contest?

I did it for two reasons:
(A) Today, my friend taught me how to type in Japanese characters on my computer.
(B) I wanted to show off my skills while testing you guys on your knowledge of the Japanese language!!

That being said... HERE'S THE CONTEST!!

It's fairly simple. Below, I will type a short passage in Japanese characters. The first person to reply with the most accurate translation will receive a chance to request any work of art of their choosing (within reason).

...I felt like getting a hundred more views today, so I decided to post one of my longest journals in a long time! Just a warning, though... If you refuse to learn how easy it is to act motherly towards sea urchins, I highly suggest you just stop and click away from this journal entry right now.

ANYWAYS...

This was copy/pasted from my LJ! Here ya'll go!!

SO MANY STORIES TO TELL!

First Story:

Today in Anatomy, we were doing the skeletal system. Nothing to be squeamish about, right? WRONG!

Turns out my teacher had tons of pictures of people's limbs coming half-way off and I was begging God to send me any way to get out of this particular part of the class, when sure enough some lady comes in and says to my teacher, "Your sea urchins are in!"

At first I thought "sea urchins" was code for "deliquent students", but it turns out some legit sea urchins came in for someone's science fair experiment. It was then my teacher asked for volunteers to help bring the sea urchins back up to help the lady out. I immediately raised my hand with one other student and took off. Thank GOD that happened!

On the way up and stuff with the sea urchins, I felt like a mother. We had to take special care of them and carry them on a buggy-like cart. I even stroked the box they were in and talked to them when the other student stopped to talk to a friend in the hallway. I named one of them Clyde, and I might bring him home... if he survives the experiment. It was even sadder to find out half of my class didn't even know what a sea urchin was... Sad, sad, sad.

TURNS OUT HOWEVER... That my friend in AP Lit was actually the person who needed the sea urchins for her experiment, so I really might bring Clyde home one day! Mom even said it was okay! I'm super excited... You have no friggin' idea!


Second Story:

I got an 'A' on my AP Lit vocab quiz! My first 'A' in a while! Boy, I sure do hope I'm outta my slump now... But chances are that totally isn't the case.

Also, we're currently doing Macbeth in AP Lit, and I am in love with it! I won't get into how it makes me explode with intensity and hardcoreness, but here are my two favorite quotes so far:

"If it were done when 'tis done, then 'twere well It were done quickly." -Macbeth (Act 1, Scene 7)

"'Tis safer to be that which we destroy Than by destruction dwell in doubtful joy." -Lady Machbeth (Act 3, Scene 2)

Oh, and by the way... Does anyone remember that Jimmy Neutron episode where they did Macbeth? 8D Hahaha. "Me Lord, your wife, Lady Macbeth, approaches!" Hahahahaha.


Third Story:

People in my drama class blow. We made a (horrible) skit with (horrible) lines, and gave the weakest member (who joined against our will) the fewest lines.

Today, right before we were to perform our skit, she complained about how she has to take her script up onto the stage because she can't memorize her lines. Her longest line was ONE SIMPLE SENTENCE AND ONE COMPOUND COMPLEX SENTENCE, and she said she couldn't memorize it. She even got her guide and/or counselor person into it because she was so mad at us.

And to make it worse, her guide person glared at the rest of our group (especially me) during the entire performance... Not cool, lady. And here's my question for you and the person who can't memorize jack:

WHY THE HECK WOULD YOU TAKE DRAMA IF YOU CAN'T DO THE WORK?

Now if she has some learning disability, I can understand... But if she's just not doing it because she's incompetent and refuses to put a little effort into the class, then there's no way I can be cool or chill with that. I'm just plain appalled.


Fourth Story:

Statistics class was a real sugar rush today!

Due to an class-wide experiment of which I won't get into, every group of two people had to bring in something for us to taste test. We ate everything from cookies, coffee, soda, orange soda, Swedish Fish, Gummi Bears, chips, and cereal.

By the end of the class, we were all on-edge and jittering from the mass amounts of sugar we consumed. My partner and I were even trying to catch cereal in our mouths because we had grown very bored and extremely energetic.

All-in-all, it was a very great day. 8D Thanks for putting up with all of my stories!

Anyways...

FINALLY, IT HAS HAPPENED.

My At-Home/Backyard Photoshoot has finally taken place today and... it went okay. Yep, just okay. I ran into alot of snags due to bad karma. I won't say more than that. ANYWAYS, my uniform needed primping, the wig needed fixing, and my make-up was sub-par but I managed to get some good shots!

The best of the best pictures taken from the shoot are already being posted on DA, but they're coming in waves! Wave One has rolled on through already. Please expect more coming very soon!

"WHY SO MUCH HARUHI?" you ask?! Oh... well it just so happens one of my friends () has just premiered his new Kyon cosplay and has taken some really nice pictures of it. In response to his fantastical Kyon, I did all Haruhi pictures... for now.

Secret Maka 1.0 should be done within the next week IF I'm lucky.. which I haven't been for the past couple of days, so don't get your hopes up.

Once again PHOTOSHOOT. DID. NOT. HAPPEN.

There was actually no rain, but it was very humid, so that'd mean my hair would go all POOF and stuff, so a Deck Photoshoot was completely out of the question. Not to mention I had an awful night sleep so I don't look too good... so don't feel too disappointed. You wouldn't wanna see me in this condition anyways. D;

Now then, as if it wasn't bad enough, the main issue is... some of the cosplay has major ruts in it. HOWEVER, I AM PROUD TO ANNOUNCE...

SECRET MAKA 2.0 IS 100% DONE! HOORAY! 8D I now officially dub it MODERN-SPEAKEASY-MAKA. Bwahahaa Toasty, you shall be proud! >:3

As ya'll probably noticed, the backyard photoshoot I was planning a while ago hasn't happened yet. What's the deal, you ask? WELL, I've swampped myself under piles and piles of cosplay that doesn't even have to be completed until late November.

I'M PLANNING ANOTHER BACKYARD PHOTOSHOOT!!!

And since my views have skyrocketed lately due to an increase in my cosplay photos, regardless of whether or not they were from Otakon, I want to know what you, my Watchers, want to see specifically SO I CAN GET ME S'MORE VIEWS. >D

So go ahead and do me a favor and pick which cosplays you want to see more of from this list below and ONLY from this list below. But regardless of what you choose, I plan to do more Suzumiya Haruhi cosplay photos since it's an easy cosplay to get into. :3

Ironically, this journal is not about cuteness and stuff. I'm actually feeling oddly self-conscious today due to my stupid Maka figurine. D:< I've been bored and laying around and staring at her freaking boots all day I noticed something...

THOSE BOOTS ARE OUT TO BUG ME.

Seriously, I'm a fantastical Maka cosplayer, right? I mean I'm the ONLY one who does the boots. And tell me if I'm wrong, but the boots in the show, manga, and every doujin I've checked go HALFWAY UP MAKA'S THIGH. The figurine thingy showed it going up like a fourth-way up her leg. I see people cosplay the boots like that alot and they just look WRONG.

So back me up here. Am I not the bestest Maka cosplayer with the bestest boots ever despite how tedious they are?

Anyways, yes. Nothing to really talk about.

Cosplay is getting done and Otakon is coming up fast and all... and tomorrow is The Fourth of July. Whoop-dee, America: not as great as it used to be. Seriously. :/ We were better off with our founding fathers instead of freaking Obama-llama.

OUR UNEMPLOYMENT RATE IS AT ONE OF ITS ALL-TIME HIGHS. 8D GOOD JOB!!

Anyways, yes, there's bad news for tomorrow. Or at least interesting news. Tomorrow, at Anime Expo in California, Funimation will be announcing the official Soul Eater dub cast... Ohshit.

Their Soul Eater Forum claimed that they might have some "newcomers" since they needed teenage-sounding voices for the characters. ...But, uh, Death the Kid sounds like a man. So does Soul... we'll see how this goes, but chances are it won't be pretty... at all.

And, yeah! I'll start uploading pictures of my cosplay as it finishes. ;D So stay tuned!

Now this isn't meant to be a sad journal, but I'm just saying: I miss Michael Jackson. Now I've always loved his music, but today, I dunno it just kinda hit me that he died and I just miss having the guy around even if was kinda weird in his later years.

I was just listening to "Man in the Mirror" and watching the "Beat It" video because my Mom loves those songs and the music videos that go along with them. They're both really good and really amazing and really original.

I guess that's why I liked him so much. He was original, yet distinct. You always knew when he was singing ever since he was in The Jackson Five. So I dunno... I guess I'm a little bummed that he's gone...

But I love hearing his music all over the radio and TV!! 8D I'll never turn the radio on a Michael Jackson song. Ya'll are my witnesses.

My favorite Michael Jackson song is either "Billie Jean", "Thriller", or "Man in the Mirror". I like "Man in the Mirror" because it's moving and can apply to me and alot of other people I know for the most part. And I like "Thriller" because I have alot of memories tied to that song thanks to Chorus class. Oh, and "Billie Jean" is just fun and dancable.

My favorite Michael Jackson video is prolly "Billie Jean", "Remember the Time", or "Smooth Criminal" because he does amazing dance moves in every single one of them, and the costumes are amazing... as well as the plots and scenery behind them.

Anyways, hi! I'm back from my vacation to Boston!!

Did ya'll miss me?! 8D ...Don't honestly answer that. Whores.

So yeah. Good con. Not the best Anime Boston, but most certainly not the worst! To sum it up quickly, which the pictures will do quite well, it was a combination of Creeper-con and Bad-Cosplay-con. I was working on my cosplays around four in the morning last night, and I was looking for some show to have on as a background noise on my TV. Well I'm flipping through the channels, and I stumble upon Adult Swim.

Oh the memories. I was so taken back, partially because it was an episode with quite a few lulz. It was right around my favorite arc, the sexy Yotsuba Arc, with sexier Higuchi, and I was very excited.

...

It was also the episode where Matsuda intensely kicks a bathroom door in and plays drunk and falls off a balcony. I liked that one alot too... just as Higuchi likes his lil' garls.

Anyways, yes, I've done some updating. But guess what. It's all SOUL EATER. 8D I just decided to take more pictures of my wonderful, ever-growing collection of figurines since I've got alot of views on my pictures with figures in them.

I may not be updating much for a while. I have lots of stuff to do! The end of school is coming up, I've got alot of testing, I have a job, and I have to start some more cosplays since people want me to do them so badly. D:<

Here is my review!!

The main thing to keep in mind while reading my review is that this ended up really being a "People Con", meaning the people were greater than the venue when all was said and done. If the friends people weren't as nice (to sume it up in one, easy word), I don't think I woulda had as much fun, in total honesty.

BAD THINGS:
People ahad alot to complain about, surprisingly. It was prolly because they cared more about venue and convienentness than people... whic his somewhat wrong, but they had a right to get on some things.

Staff for instance was my biggest issue. Now I don't know if it was volunteers or just cranky people, but they were very unorganized, immature, and never shut the hell up. First of all, they were nags in the lobby and in photoshoot areas. The lines for the badges were huge and conflicted with the flow of traffic, so Staff was told to keep us moving. Well they took it a bit too literally.

As if it wasn't annoying enough to hear "keep moving" shouted in your ear when you were blocked and idle in a mass of people, how about being nagged when the lobby is EMPTY at two in the morning? A friend and I were congregating there and some Staffer got pissed because we were idle in an empty lobby. They even told us to move our photo location to a spot they picked out and designated just so we could get booted out of there minutes later. Anyone who was the Soul Eater shoots knows this story way too well.

I also heard the staffers were loud and obnoxious in their FREE ROOMS since they were volunteering or working or whatever they were supposed to be doing. But when they HAD to be ordered to do something, they took the job as if they were ignorant 'tards. For the Valentine's Day Ball, we had a Prom!Stein perfectly recreated from Episode Eighteen...and they wouldn't let 'im in. It was frustrating because that's how he was supposed to be. Their excuse was "It's a ball, not a cosplay ball"... Yeah, smart thing to say at an ANIME convention, eh?

Ignorant bastards ruined alot for people this weekend. Thank God there were better persons who really made the con an enjoyable experience despite the terrible staff everyone wanted to destroy.


GOOD THINGS:
Like I said, Katsu was totally a "People Con". If you went to this con without a good group of friends, or focused on yourself instead of meeting new people, then you probably didn't enjoy yourself. Thankfully however, I roomed with alot of good friends (and without a parent for the first time)and met up with my best con friends ever, and made tons of new ones I'll always remember as well!

I gotta give props to my roomates and my "Gang", especially when were were people watching and making more inside jokes and saying funny things. I'm sorry I didn't hang out with them more, but Soul Eater shoots (which were beast) took up alot of my time since there were so many. I'm so glad I met alot of nice people at those photo ops. I hope to see them all again real soon, and I'm glad they inspired me to try new things... such as cosplays.

So all-in-all, I really enjoyed myself and I look forward to seeing everyone again at my next con, Anime Boston. Where I'll premiere my new cosplay ANGELA from Soul Eater! (That's right.. the little witch... people told me to so I'll do it, good moral reasoning there, eh? ;D)

How come every time I complain about something, the very next day the issue seems to resolve itself?

LET ME TELL YA A STORY.

So Soul Eater episode 41 is all about Stein and his acid trip-like insanity spells. (And yes... Stein's name in the journal title is most likely how it would appear if it were written in katakana).

That being said! I went and watched it raw, thinking I'd only get a good visual view of the doctor without being able to understand him... but low and behold.

I UNDERSTOOD NEARLY 2/3rds OF THE ENTIRE EPISODE.

...Go freakin' figure. Who woulda thunk it, eh? Now I'm way ahead of everyone else who's still waiting for subbies.

...Other than the noisy neighbors playing cruddy music outside, but that's another story entirely.

Anyways, so for the past couple of weeks, I have noticed a severe lack of people keeping up with their subbing obligations. It even started way before that, but not with the series I'm mostly talking about.

I personally had to watch the last three episodes of Junjou Romantica raw because within a month's time, the series was over, but never subbed past episode twenty-one. It was a fairly easy to understand dialogue, and subs were usually slow on that show, so I didn't let it bother me much.

But then... there's Soul Eater; a show with complicated dialogue where you HAVE to know what's going on in your native language to understand a good chunk of the plot. Well unfortunately, the only native language they're pumping out subs in is Spanish.

SPANISH?! I mean REALLY! This is how racism starts, people. I may be stronger than the envy of getting subs after the great Spanish-speakers of the world, but seriously!! Who the hell is too lazy to slap some English subs on Soul Eater ANYWHERE on the internet?

I've checked Youtube, Veoh, and even official Soul Eater sites and they've had NOTHING except for raw Japanese episodes or Spanish subs. And downloading the episodes is certainly not an option simply because my computer doesn't have the memory nor the willpower for that kinda storage. Also, the downloaded subs releases usually come out when all the other English subs come out... which is turning into "never"! It's totally unfair! There's nine or so episodes left in the entire series, and I for one do not personally want to miss out on a fantastic finale due to the fact that I'm not completely fluent in my Japanese or because I speak barely a word of Spanish.

I've been getting by the last one-and-a-half-ish episodes by picking out cognates in Spanish subs, but now I'm officially sick of it! Someone needs to get off their lazy bum and sub Soul Eater already!

ANYWAYS.

What the heck is with all these stupid planes flying over my house? That has NEVER happened before. EVER.

The most we get is maybe two planes every five days or something... but today alone, I've heard like.. three to five. I don't know WHY they're there flying over my home. It really annoys me. They're loud, and interfere with wireless things. I wish I could kick them. ALL OF THEM AND THEIR LITTLE FREE BAGS OF PEANUTS.

If their flight path has been altered due to the inaguration(SP?) or because of some other odd reason of which I am unsure of, then I'm gonna find those pilots and... and... be mad at them. D:< Yeah! And they can't stop me! Ever!

A Message on the Importance of Commenting Before Favouriting an Artist's Work

Greetings, all.

You all know who I am already, so an introduction is completely unnecessary. You may call me conceited as much as you prefer, but just look at all my fangirls. And who says I'm not well known? However, that is besides the subject at hand here.

It has come to my attention that there is a severe lack in initiative among DeviantArt's community. Yes indeed, members. People are getting into the habit of favouriting deviations without commenting them.

Now this behaviour is understandable if the deviation is that of a well-known, popular DeviantArt member who has millions of views and comments a day, but when the DeviantArt member is lowly and at a lack of views with considerably wonderful work, isn't it worth it to put forth a bit of effort to compliment them on a job well done?

The ultimate decision is up to you, but please do put some serious thought into such a laughable matter. When one favourites without leaving a proper comment, it is throwing off a certain... symmetry in the overall balance of this fine art community. When one creates the work and post it, they wish for two things: praise and popularity. When another member favourites said artist's work, it is true that they give it a bit of a push towards popularity, but when a work is not commented in addition with favouriting, then the half of praise is at a severe loss and causes the symmetrical cycle of DeviantArt as we know it to fall apart. And when symmetry in one area of the world falls apart, then the rest of the symmetry left in the entire world will be thrown off.

How awful would it be if the entire symmetry of the world is thrown off? Do you think that'd be something I (or anybody else) would ever forgive? Why should anyone forgive some lazy little DevianArt member who has the pride and ignorance to think to themselves, "Oh, this work is nice enough to store forever in my favourites, but it's not worth my time leaving a little comment that could be simple as 'lol' on it."

We have some sick people living in this world, I tell you. Sick! If I may be so bold as to tell all of you Mary Sue, fangirl, screenshot photoshopping, 2D character obsessive morons a little tid-bit, I'm not some stick-like slab of beef that takes kindly to those who throw off the very symmetry of the entire world!

So if you selfishly thinking little brats are going to continue destroying the foundation of DeviantArt as we know it with your lazy lack of brief communication and pirating ways of favouriting, then go right on ahead. See if your Mary SuexSoul Eater character fanfics will be just as sweet with this heavy burden on your shoulders.

Our local Christian Music Station is still playing carols!! D; Oh jeez!!

Anyways, I dunno if DA will ever gimme problems again, so lemme just lay this all out for you. It's prolly been two weeks or so and someone told me it was better, but I wasn't going in unprepared. I got stuff called NoScript and Adblock which should block all the non-DA stuff... so hopefully it'll keep me covered.

Due to this atrocity, my DA use will be limited greatly. I want to give it a week or two, perhaps even a month or so, for this bug to get worked out. Don't ask me what the real technology is behind it, I don't know. But I do know it is ALL DA-related.

Therefore, I'll only be able to check and message and reply while I am at school during lunch.

That being said, thanks for understanding. Let's hope these errors work themselves out.

THE LIMITED DA USE LOG

Day Three: I never realized how much I used DA as a near necessity until I started limiting my use due to the script errors. I still believe it's all a DA thing, partially because the bottom part of the browser keeps telling me there's an error on all these pages I'm commenting on/replying to. There's no privacy here in the school library, which makes it awkward to even log into my account. Stupid Freshmen and the like are constantly looking over to see what I'm typing about so furiously. How I hate them.

...Doesn't this really sound like some log of a captain or something? xD That makes me giggle!

Ahem, anyways, yes. It's like breaking an addiction I guess you could say. Limiting my DA use will be good until this script error stuff passes and when my computer will no longer be a victim of its troubles, but for now, I must endure with this. Honestly, if I had not just recently updated my page before this error thing happened, I wouldn't nearly care as much about checking up on my things.

After giving it a good amount of thought, I have decided that I shall start off by giving DA two weeks to fix itself. I'll actually do some research on its issue while I'm here... in the library... with no privacy. But until then, I hope the same thing doesn't happen to you. The Adobe opening/pop-up and script error mayhem already got to one of my friends on here already (Mello) and a couple others (Polish RP Friend) so I wish you all the best and hope that you too quaratine the site for now after reading this bulletin. Holy cow. One of the stupidest Christmas specials ever... but I love it so. o_o

It's on as I'm typing this. It's the third time I've watched it... on my own free will. It's all stupid, poor humour with almost no slapstick. The plot is terrible and full of dumb parts, but it's so wonderful! I have heard some of the funniest, yet most air-headed, quotes ever from this show... and I love it.

You should all watch it. Watch it now. o-o Do it before I summarize it and post my favorite quotes from the best of my memory.
