I have just been asked to give few of my pictures for a fanzine!
I am so happy about it finally somebody that liked my stuff and I am stepping into the outside world made of paper, words and ink!
The 'zine is SECTION V :[link]
Copies will be given out to Shot By Both Sides and hopefully for the Train Of Thought II where us, as Black Rainbow, will be deejaying also. It will happen on the 19th of November @ The Good Ship in Kilburn ([link]) a dj set focused mainly onto Shoegaze, Post Punk and early indie.
The bands playing will be SP-ECO -with Dean Garcia from Curve[[link] (www.myspace.com/spceco), Wrapped in Plastic ([link])and Abstinence and Sensibility ([link]).
So, yeah many news to share, we are off to Bruxelles next week fir the SXXV + Peter Hook gig and we will eagerly meet few familiar and non familiar faces there and I am looking forward a good dance, laughter and excellent music
I have been told we are not allowed to bring the semi-pro cameras inside the Acienne Belgique but I will try regardless!

I am also Collecting pieces for a literature feature, I have realised I have left the pen and paper aside for the camera but I miss writing there fore hopefully this feature will inject some more inspiration into this tired veins of mine...


Back at the black rainbow dj sets, we are also going to dj at the Closer Pub in Florence for the Xmas night so anyone in the close (and not so close) proximities come along and celebrate Xmas with us and our OWN way to celebrate it don't forget it's Saturnalia Time on the 25th!


We are planning more dj sets in Amsterdam and Finland for the new year coming and maybe some more in London of course.

I had guests since thursday and a big party on friday night at Slimelight ( [link] ) that brought all of us to stay out till the early hours of the morning on saturday and again clubbing at the usual Slimelight ([link]) on saturday night with skeletal Family ([link]) performing their usual annual slimelight live (I was so happy to see Karlheinz!!! ) and random dancing (the setlists both goth and industrial were A-M-A-Z-I-N-G-L-Y good!, thanks to Francesca and Loky) all this partying happened along with the usual shopping and walking around during the day. The last guests, Pido, left yesterday morning and in the evening we went to see Sixteens ([link]) live at Barden's Boudoir in Dalston ([link]) with a late night last night too -2am- (I am knackered!). It felt like the old days, Cri, Vale, Andrea, Roby, Tanya, Mike, Mario, Cinders, Enrica, Rob, Sarah, Krisztina and lots of other people that we didn't see in ages they were all there between friday, saturday and sunday. It was like as if 3 years ago I pressed pause and then last weekend pressed play again. It was like coming back to life again
it felt good.

Thursday afternoon I went to see Miky and and she decided not to go to the gym but instead we went for a coffe and a slice of cake. After Roby called and decided to join us so we went to the black cap in camden where we started off with rum and cocke and finished with jagermaister, sambuca AND rum&coke at 2 am I was at home pretty merry Friday night down to Brixton where I did listen to few bands playing with a newly found friend and an old one that I didn't see for quite a long time. Very good band the O Children (check them on myspace) that blew me away. Saturday gig at the Bull and Gates in Kentish Town waiting for the Hyenas to play I heard another good garage band which I don't know the name but I will check later and then the Hyenas that didn't disappoint me at all, good rock'n roll garage indeed. Little chat with the singer (very few photos taken sadly) and then with Jean we went to my place, cous cous and a chat that lasted few hours with Paola too that joined us after work. after she left we had to sleep (ok yes we can't do the long weekend as we used to, we realised..) and the day after Andrea and Tanya came back from sardinia. We went to visit them and have a chat and between Mirto, Cannonau (typical sardinian wine) and gnocchi sardi (sardinian pasta) and pot.. (yes, again ) more chatting, listening to EBM from 2003 Skinny puppy, VNV Nation, Xotox, Soman, Apoptygma, Fisherspooner, Hypnoskull, Combichrist, Neuroticfish, P.A.L., Delerium and all that (time warp to the days when we used to party hard ) and now I am home, after a long bath I can finally say bye to the weekend and start a monday, the same music is playing in my player and I am, even if rather tired, very happy
soon a feature I am posting the pics from new forest very slowly I just want to take my time and decide what to post and the time, as you all can tell, hasn't been much in the last week or so

With their first EP release in 1982, The Swans emerged from the dark and noisy NYC underground, alongside Sonic Youth and Lydia Lunch. This came at a time when New York legends Suicide and London-based Aussies The Birthday Party were both approaching the conclusion of their reigns of twisted, avant-garde flatline belligerence. It was also a time when Joy Division and Bauhaus were concluding their dissemination of the goth infection to the world. All of these seminal bands' sounds would manifest themselves to some degree in the music of the Swans.

Starting in 1983 with Filth, the Swans almost annually released detached and evil albums filled with imagery inspired by the greediness of organized religion and the corruption of the establishment. After 1984's Cop and 1985's Greed, female co-lead singer Jarboe became a new constant in the group, joining Michael Gira and the rest of the band. Jarboe brought with her gentler and more ethereal textures which began seeping into the group's repertoire with 1986's Holy Money and the acclaimed 1987 album Children of God.

The Swans were a brutally slow and alienating tribal death march. They drew upon the basic human emotions of fear, anger, and sadness with a sound that could never be mistaken or dismissed. They were often hated, feared, and shunned, and occasionally they were loved and embraced, but they were never overlooked or forgotten because it's in the nature of their music to invoke powerful emotion. There are countless accounts of the life-changing experience of attending a Swans show and hearing their powerful sound live. So it's fitting to offer a track here from the Atavistic rerelease of a long out-of-print live double album from the Swans 1987 Children Of God European tour.

After a 1988 U.K. hit with a cover of Joy Division's "Love Will Tear Us Apart," the Swans signed to MCA Records and continued to release albums every year, even teetering on the brink of mainstream accessibility at times. Even while amassing sixteen albums worth of material (including live albums) plus singles and other peripheral releases, the group continued to tour with a rotating lineup of sonic terror. In 1996 The Swans recorded their last studio album, the fantastic Soundtracks For The Blind. As new fans contuinue to discover and celebrate the work of the Swans, Gira's record label Young God Records has reissued many of their great albums. Young God is also involved with a smattering of other projects, including Gira's current group, the beautiful and of course dark Angels of Light.

Born in Fife, Scotland in 1951, Jack Vettriano left school at sixteen to become a mining engineer. For his twenty-first birthday, a girlfriend gave him a set of watercolour paints and, from then on, he spent much of his spare time teaching himself to paint.

In 1989, he submitted two paintings to the Royal Scottish Academy's annual exhibition; both were accepted and sold on the first day. The following year, an equally enthusiastic reaction greeted the three paintings, which he entered for the prestigious Summer Exhibition at London's Royal Academy and his new life as an artist began from that point on.

Over the last twenty years, interest in Vettriano's work has grown consistently. There have been sell-out solo exhibitions in Edinburgh, London, Hong Kong and New York.

Inspiring night last night, went to see Hugh Cornwell (singer of the Stranglers) and the Blockheads, the original band founded by Ian Dury (sex and drugs and rock'n roll, you MUST know that track).
It was brilliant, a jump backwards in the 1977, when punks didn't have a mohican nor spikes but they WERE punk, per definition. they were playing FREE music, influenced by the teddy boys and by the ska scene, reggae and JAZZ.

2.5 hours of set by the Blockheads, showing off their talents and skills. Sax, 2 guitars, keyboards, drums and one bass. A music that put fires in my vein, a smile and I felt again the need to dance.
Fedora's hats and whiskeys, rythm'n blues and genuine love for self expression.

What I thought it is first of all to look for rescued animals/needs sheltering as I do not want to encourage breeders/pay them to breed in captivity exotic animals that do not belong to UK as their NATURAL habitat.
I had given a thought to a Corn snake but I really feel bad in keeping them in cages and not being able to see them "running" around, freely (at least without my supervision), I thought about other reptiles like the Bearded Dragon or a Chameleon but I find it very hard to find rescued/animal shelters with that kind (or reptiles in generals). I didn't want hampsters as I have had enough of them when I was a kid and, although, easy to look after, they do not like to be handled and bite...next thought would be a ferret but again, they need space to run around in an aviary kind of cage (almost as big as my studio flat!!).
Fishes? Turtles? kind of boring tbh...so my thought just jumped onto a couple of lovely RATS!
yes, people, despite what you all might think, Rats are perfect pets for children and adults.
They love to be cuddled, very inteligent, run around in the house and stay in people's company in general. They usually come in couples as they suffer loneliness and the size of the cage needed for 2 is about 70x44x70cm which would be, yes, big, but NOT too big in case I have to move them (going on holiday and bringing them to my friends -living 10mins away from me-)...so now I would just have to think about calling my landlord and see if I can get him to accept the little creatures in the house and (by the way) get him to come and get that annoying small fridge unused in that kitchen! (that would allow enough space for the cage )

The Sun will enter Cancer at 7:59 PM eastern time (4:59 PM pacific), and thus begins the Summer Solstice. But, Pluto is charging the Sun a toll to enter, so there could be some explosive behavior today. The Moon will go void of course at 3:02 PM (12:02 PM pacific), and our emotions should calm down a bit. But, our wisdom will be off, and we may do something we will regret later.

What a fantastic set. We could really enjoy not only their fantastic and down to heart personality but also the great class and technic of those 4 artists on stage, with 2 guitars/1 sitar, acoustic drums and various other not-so-random tools.
Funny, smiling and energetic.
Excellent artists with beautiful songs, I particularly loved the acoustic version of Gasoline Man and the cover of Ghostrider (originally by Suicide).
The club was pretty packed and people (us included) didn't want to leave in th end.
Worth mentioning is the support Act that they had, An electronic band (usually), A HUMAN, will have to check it out if they have a myspace page, CDs are on sale at HMV.
Reminded us of the Violent Femmes, I know there is some of you that love the VF ), with mark almond/Brett Anderson kind of voice.Good Energy and good stage presence.

I also met somebody I didn't know, a friend of a friend that gave us a free ticket entrance was was not too bad at all

Coming out of a busy weekend!
Finally I have managed to use quite a lot the new baby
Will be posting some more pictures (the latest ones are all taken with the D60) On Saturday it has been the UKDK communities reuinion mini-festival in Luton.
I went with a friend and there, I met up with more friends and acquaintances.

Yvette, Jason, Russ, Loopy, Fish, Phil, Tibor, Spon and I have finally assisted at a UKDK live performance, the first one after the decision to re-unite.
On stage we had witnessed also at another special appearance: Click Click.
They brought back the darkest-electronic sound directly from the 80s Cabaret Voltaire/Clock DVA feeling.
Loved every minute of it, I SO loved it.

Hopefully my pictures won't be too bad (still have a lot to learn as far as taking pictures at gigs is concerned -any suggestion is highly welcomed - ) and I will post as much as I can, either here on on my Picasa Web Album.

Rubella Ballet played too and weirdly they were headlining, this is the only thing I wasn't too happy about: why Rubella Ballet Headlining when the whole event had been done FOR and BY the UKDECAY COMMUNITY in Luton?
I mean, I understand that RB ARE in fact part of that community BUT it was UKDK reuiniting not rubella ballet. The majority of the people were there FOR UK Decay!!!

Anyhow...
I saw Click Click and I saw UK Decay and most of all I saw people that I hadn't seen for more than a year and THAT made me happy.
As usual, although the feeling was a different one- more "corporate" feeling rather the local-underground-genuine one, it was a great event:without egos nor attitude.

This time it was grand.

Surprises at the V post industrial Congress in Prato
I saw so many people i thought i had lost contanct with, lots to talk and lots to laugh.
Good music and good people.
It is strange to see in so many years of disappearance so many faces, older faces but still there.
As a friend said it was like time stopped at the right moment in our life and there we were, back then plus some more "new" friends to share such a good night with.
It had been long since the last time i had been able to enjoy a night out in a club.
I am looking forward the next occasion i will have to go back there, hopefully not in another 6 years but hopefully next year, I will be back.
