Collabs

Friday Collab: Fanfiction and art collab. 8pm EST.
Possible combos: writer/artist; writer/writer; solo writer.
-- Continuing stories can choose between the following options: New theme, roll (5 keywords), continue, change, plot twist, end. You may not repeat the same option consecutively (twice in a row).

Saturday Artist Critique Night: Share art, critique, collab or do a solo assignment. Assignments are non-fan art based on themes. 7pm EST.

Sunday Collab: Character collabs. Choose among 5 characters to illustrate. 7pm EST.
Possible combos: artist/artist; solo artist.

1. Combine the 3 topics we discussed today into one illustration.
2. Write about Fenrir Greyback being a werewolf. Do you know any other werewolf villains? How are Remus and Fenrir different? At least 300 words.

Ancient Runes
Written: A short (250 words Min) paper about 'star' character, and their place in both the JK universe, our universe, and how/if it reflects in their overall character.
Artistic: Draw any one of the 'star' characters, portraying both the character, and the constellation in one drawing.

July Issue
In this month's issue, you can read about our second anniversary, all the new things we are planning for the new year, what our staff is up to, collaborations, class schedules, a featured artist and our member and prefect of the month!

We are always looking for writers - if you want to write an article for the newspaper, drop us a note!

PotterShare Yearbook
This project took over a year to accomplish! We had been postponing it and recently, I decided to just sit down and do it. It took hours upon hours, but I've combined all the portraits that were made by our volunteer artists () and prepared 14 pages of PotterShare members and staff! It's really neat, so check it out!

Did you miss your chance the first time? Send us a note with your portrait (100x125px on white background, house colours) or request an artist!

We are launching a new Dual ACN in the #PotterShare chatroom tonight! Come join us to participate!

Instead of homework, you will get to do collaborations.
The collabs will NOT be Harry Potter fanart. They will be entirely up to you, based on a random assignment we give you.
First we will introduce the new concept, then we will allow sign ups for collabs. Afterwards we will go on to regular thumb sharing.

Hey there guys! We've been pretty quiet as of late, but I promise we're coming back with a bang! We have tons of things going on in the upcoming weeks!

Firstly, collaboration and art critique nights are back!
- Thursday, 7pm EST ~ Art Critique Night (Remember to check your homework assignments regularly in the #PotterShare chatroom topic!)
- Friday, 8pm EST ~ The new house collab has just begun! Each house can check out their theme and duties in their respective common rooms!
- Saturday, 6pm EST ~ Our traditional collaboration night, with 5 random keywords to illustrate!
- Sunday, 6pm EST ~ Returning from last semester is our character collab night! 5 characters are presented each week and you choose which you want to illustrate! Be sure to show up to know the details!

Thank you to everyone who attended the House Cup announcement on Saturday! Congratulations to Hufflepuff, the 7th Term Winners!

Finally, we will be having our European-time viewing of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix! The only difference is that it will be at an earlier time if you are in the EST or PST regions. The viewing will be at 1pm EST (so 7pm for you European folk, or 6pm for Londoners!) on Saturday, May 17th in the #PotterShareTheatre All are welcome! Doors will close at 1:15 so be sure to make it early enough! We will start at 1 sharp!

The Fandom Crash Contest is still on! Combine two fandoms (one being Harry Potter) into a piece of art! Send in your entries by Saturday, May 31st!

Of course we love the Harry Potter movies. We've had many movie nights, but they have not happened in a very long time. So long that we still have not viewed the latest Harry Potter film together yet!

It's the start of a new term!
Here are some updates on what's new and exciting at PS!

Hufflepuff - House Cup Winners!

Congratulations to Hufflepuff, winner of last term's House Cup. A lot of hard work went into that, so they deserve some applause!

It's a new term now, so it's anyone's game! Be sure you're there in the chatroom, supporting your House and doing all you can to earn your House points for the next House Cup!

New Collab Night!

Collaboration nights will be starting up again this week! These are great opportunities for you to hone your drawing/writing skills while earning points for your House at the same time!

Save these dates! Wednesday night and Friday night, both at 8 pm EST. Wed. will be familiar to people who have done collab nights in the past . . . but Friday will be something NEW and DIFFERENT and I think, very exciting! (For writers and drawers)
Oh, and don't forget Artist Critique Night, every Thursday night, 7 pm EST.

Hello PotterSharians!

Its been a while since the journal content has been updated, but please remember even if the journal date is old, Recommended Daily Artwork below is updated ALMOST every day!

Just a few small updates to let you all know that #PotterShare most certainly is NOT dead! (Those of you who frequent the chatroom know it is not)

Featured Chat

After over a year, *PotterShare's chatroom has finally become a featured chat. I'm not sure how long it lasts, but for the time being when you click the chat button on your page, it will take you to the chat list and you will find #PotterShare in dAmn's featured chat section! Thank you $chix0r and @youthculture for bestowing us this honor!

* Do note that in light of the change, we have moved ALL 3848 members back to the Guest level so we can clean out a years worth of people who haven't come back! DO NOT BE ALARMED! Come back in and tell the staff you were in _____ house and they will promote you back quickly!

Holiday Party!

We will be having a holiday party in #PotterShare on December 24th. There is no real start or finish time, just drop in and you may catch one of the great activities! This section will be updated as more activites become available, so keep your eyes peeled:

This is just a heads up for all you members that end of the second year's first term is near. (That's Y2T1 for you abbreviation buffs )

- 1st Term will be over on Oct 1st!

- House Cup Winners will be announced the week following

- 2nd Term of the new Pottershare year is October 2nd - January 1st

-Only 2 more collab weekends. All points (except FF's) are doubled; keywords are back like they were for Silly Sundays (SiSu).

- SPEW (SPEedWriting Sundays) are on a short hiatus.

Go here to read up on some rules of the RIGHT format of turning collaboration notes in to Pottershare.

- Note that each person is allowed to do a MAXIMUM of 50 collabs for EACH of the SaSts and SiSu nights (Which means the maximum you can do at the end of 2 weeks is 200 collabs). No more than that will be allowed.

ALSO remember. Any ads that you want to turn in will be due VERY soon. ( No exact dates yet) So if you have ANY ads that you would like to turn in, please get started on them and send them in as per Ad rules.

In light of the recent burst of support from you wonderful people, *PotterShareCares has been launched!

It was in talks with a few of the senior members of #PS a couple days ago, and here it is!

We've all seen what you great bunch can do, so go over there, devwatch, and show your support. While you may not want to participate in all of the events, do devwatch anyhow, send your notes about what you want to see supported, your ideas and your thoughts and everything else you can think of to show your support.

Our main objective will be to spread awareness, and our secondary objective is to show our support directly whether through artwork, news articles, or even donations. There will be many ways for you to help out and show your support.

Our first cause is one that is affecting `GeneratingHype. Take the time to read his journal, and then head over to *PotterShareCares and devwatch for updates.

We will be posting ways you can help donate directly even if you DON'T have money. Lets just say artwork speaks volumes.

If you have something that is affecting you, near and dear to your heart, please send a note that way. We are a small community within a community, and what affects our members affects us all.

Hey everyone! Your Founder here, ready to give you the low down on what you can expect to see from *PotterShare both here and in the chatroom.

Firstly, we are now open to new people if you did not know already. Please refrain from spoiler talk (yes, still) we have a seperate chatroom for that. (#TheDeathlyHallows)

Next, we received a disappointing amount of Pottershare pride pictures, if you have some and haven't submitted them, please send them to me (=ArtisticAunJuli) everyone will be well-rewarded.

There are new events a-brewing :

- Get ready folks, we will be having our own Triwizard Tournament! If you aren't a member of the chatroom, go join! Only chat members will be allowed to participate.

- If you didn't already know, on Sundays we have a new speed writing collaboration going on! Drop by and get the details so you can join in!

- The Deathly Hallows Book Club Chapter Discussion -- its exactly what it implies! We will be starting a book group and discussing a chapter or two each week... dissecting it, giving our opinions, and formulating new theories or even how things might have been foreshadowed in previous books. This will take place in #TheDeathlyHallows. Stay tuned for the dates and times.

- The Deathly Hallows Trivia -- there are no dates yet, but it will take place after regular trivia on Saturdays. We will let you know when it begins

- Harry Potter Movie Fest -- We will be having movie viewings again in September! Get your copies of the movies ready to watch!

- #TheDiagonAlley & #TheLeakyCauldron - These chatrooms are tentatively scheduled for opening late 2007 (November/December) We will keep you posted!

- Pottershare.com/.net will be shaking things up also in late 2007, early 2008.

GIF adverts must have animated images. Animated text only will be counted as a regular advertisement.

Flash advertisements must have something animated with Flash. Using only images pasted into flash does not count. That can be done as a GIF and will be counted as such.

Using original creations, such as dolls and sculptures, is no longer allowed.

You may not use old collaborations or artwork as advertisements. The advertisementÂs original artwork must be noted to PotterShare within 24 hours of being uploaded.

If you try to submit the same advertisement twice, or resubmit an advertisement from last year, you will be penalized. Cheating will not help you gain points.

ALL advertisements must be coloured and contain PotterShare or Harry Potter related artwork. They must also be larger than 500x500 pixels and less than approximately 1000x1000 pixels.

Advertisements must be original artwork only. It can be drawn traditionally or digitally, but anything photographed will not be accepted.

Lack of effort will not be rewarded.

When noting your advertisement(s) to PotterShare, please give the note a subject that lets us know it is an advertisement, include a link to the ad and your house.

A lot of people have been noting the club to ask how to join/permission to join, so I thought it would be a good idea to post a little short guide here.

All you have to do is add *PotterShare to your devwatch by clicking the "Watch this deviant" button on our front page.

It's that simple!

If you want to get sorted and participate in our events, however, you need to go to our chatroom on the dAmn network, #PotterShare. You can reach the chatroom by clicking the header or footer graphics on this journal. (Click the # image if you are confused.)

Hey everyone!

We're very excited for the new book coming out, I hope you all are too! With the recent spoiler information circling the web, we closed the "Squibs" (Guests) and "Ickle-Firsties" (waiting to be sorted) Classes.

It will remain closed for at least two weeks, but we will be more lenient about admission after the first week. If you would like access to #PotterShare, please send =ArtisticAunJuli a note, but understand that you may not be granted access for several days.
(Current wait time: Sunday)

Current chat members: We have spoiler people on duty, and will NOT be very nice if you mention spoilers or the idea of spoilers! Please do not be offended if one of the Heads-Of-House is a little rough about it. We are trying our best to remain spoiler-free.

If you DO happen to be an idiot, however, and say something, I hope you understand that you WILL be banned for an undetermined amount of time... I believe that everyone, by now, understands these rules and by breaking them, you are doing it purposefully.

We are trying our best to create a safe environment for our chatters, since it seems that spoilers are floating around EVERYWHERE.

Calling all #PotterShare Members!

We will be having a "PotterShare Pride Contest"! Here is a chance to show your pride for your favorite Harry Potter club AND earn points for your house!

We want you to make a poster, a t-shirt, or anything else that boldly displays your pride for Pottershare, and take a picture of yourself at the book premiere (we will also accept photographs with you at the movie or in some public place standing next to a HP display)

Here are the rules:

- Photographs must be taken at a public place that shows some sort of HP display. We'd like you to take it at the book premiere, but if you aren't going, the movie, or a book/movie display will be just fine! Just as long as we see SOMETHING Harry Potter next to you.

- Your poster, shirt, or whatever creative thing you do, MUST include the word "PotterShare". You don't have to have the web address, or any slogan (you can if you want!) but as long as it says PotterShare, it will be accepted.

- You can send in up to 2 entries, but they have to be a different poster/sign and a different location.

- All Entries are accepted starting today until next Monday, 23rd.

- Send them to =ArtisticAunJuli

Prizes!

- ALL entries will receive 25 points!
- Third Place will receive an extra 25 points!
- Second Place will receive an extra 50 points! + a 1 month sub!
- First place will receive an extra 100 points + a 3 month subscription!

What are we looking for?

We will judge based on THE most crazy, wild, bold display of PotterShare prize! Get your friends to don shirts with Pottershare spelled out! Make a 10 ft banner! Whatever you can do that is creative and exciting will get you the winning entry! Remember, though, just showing your pride means a lot to us, so send in whatever you have, from you holding a flyer to you writing #PotterShare on your forehead!

The winners of the House Cup for the last semester of PotterShare's first year is Gryffindor! Everyone worked really hard to make this semester enjoyable and exciting for all of us. Slytherin came in second, Hufflepuff in third, and Ravenclaw, who were on break this term, came in fourth. We can't assume that simply because one house won, that the others weren't working as hard. The 1000 Club hosts a prize party for all those who managed to earn their house 1000 points or more during the term! So even if your house did not win, don't be discouraged - your work will still be acknowledged and rewarded, so give it your all!

Congratulations to all of you, and best of luck in the new semester!

Hey everyone! WAHOO! ONE YEAR!

Yes, yes! One year ago today, *PotterShare was founded. We've had some pretty fantastic times, and we've evolved quite a bit since our creation, and now here we are with a super staff behind us, amazing members who participate in all of our collabs, and a founder who is incredibly thankful!

In celebration of *PotterShare's birthday, we will be switching our avatars and using the Pottershare to flood the site with PotterShare icons! We have a handful of people who have already done so, but if you do it too, we'd appreciate it! #PotterShare is having a Harry Potter Moviefest to celebrate the coming of the newest Harry Potter movie, The Order of the Phoenix. We will be watching them in #PotterShareTheater and discussing them as we watch. We will simply be viewing the films at the same time After the movies, we will let discussions go on. We'll mainly be critiquing and reviewing the movies while enjoying the connections between each part of the Harry Potter series on film and anticipating the next movie.

A Visitor's Guide to #PotterShare

Hello! This your Ebil-Founder, =ArtisticAunJuli, speaking to all of you #PotterShare regulars, #PotterShare newbies, and people who don't know that ALL of the activity that IS PotterShare is run in our chatroom on the deviantART messaging network.

I thought I'd provide a short road map to our OWN #PotterShare network, as our chatroom has grown from one small one, to a whole bunch of exciting new additions. This will also show you the chatrooms that are in progress which will open later in the year!

Main Chat: #PotterShare
- This is our main room! This is where all of the conversations happen, all of the excitement goes down! This is where we make new friends, and help eachother out. Sounds ideal, doesn't it? It is! Everyone is friendly, and we have great people running the chat (you can check out the updated Chat Admin page to see them all!)

The Classroom: #PotterShareClassroom
- This is where the Art Critique Nights, Friday Frenzies, Saturday Storylines, Silly Sundays, Workshops and Interviews take place! This is where all of the artist/writer collaboration happens! It is usually closed on non-event days, but Thur-Sunday you'll find its a place to be!

The Common Rooms:

-Each House has their own common room! After you are sorted, please let a member of your house know that you would like to join the common room, and they will give you access. Some common rooms are more strict than others, and they are run by their respective Heads of Houses. Ask for the rules before you enter, as some would like you to be a member of #Pottershare for a period of time before you are granted access.

Headmaster, HeadsOfHouses, HeadPrefects and Prefect Common Rooms:

-These are the deliberation and common rooms for the aforementioned people. They are private, but if you become a Prefect, you will be granted access to the Prefects Common Room, along with the Head Prefects, Heads of Houses etc. If you are a Head-Of-House or Prefect-Leader, you will be granted access to the MoM staffroom.
