Hi all. Happy Easter. I hope you all can get in touch with the real reason for the long weekend. That along time ago Jesus died for you so that you could be forgiven for your sins and have a real personal relationship with God.

So I've moved into my new unit and gotten myself a new lens as a family member was getting a new camera and could get a lens for the same price as just the body. So I am the proud owner of a canon 50mm f1/8 lens.

My laptop is back! The screen was covered by apple's customer service team. Only had to pay for installation (and in the end to fix the casing which is what probably caused it in the first place). Go Apple.

I've been really interested in the new Critique feature as you can learn alot from the good and bad points of other peoples work. Also if your browsing my work and would like to critique it, I'd love that. (on all of my works). and I will endeavor to check out your work and see if i can offer anything back.

Once again Happy Easter.

Hi all.

As you may be aware, I have moved. As such i am away from my previous photography focus. So I have turned to a new one, Gig Photography.

Unfortunately I dont really have the lenses for it yet. I was planning on buying one, but my laptop screen is broken, and if the applecare warrenty isn't given for the screen it could cost me my new lens to fix it.

I was planning on getting the 50mm f/1.8 canon lens but am debating whether its worth the extra $400 for the 50mm f/1.4 IS or the 85mm f/1.8 IS for the extra image quality and ease of use. (high speed low light photography, no tripod, with a reasonable bit of manual focussing. )

Most of my images are either taken between about 50mm and 100mm focal length, particularly around the 70mm mark, but the gigs I'm doing atm i can easily have freedom of movement.

Any ideas. comments... let me know.

Profcorran

I took it with me on holidays and well two days before i came back the mirror came out again (i can put it back but the glue has come off). The person who I bought it from is going to help me find a place to fix it as it had happened to him before (and i knew about it).

Also I've moved. I hope to get one of the sunset photos as the sunsets here are smashing, only problem is there isnt enough in the foreground for me to be feeling the images so i'll hopefully get some taken soon.

So I've lost (thing destroyed) my previous camera and so I'm looking at getting a new one. But which?

So far I've mostly been using P&S cameras apart from various times when I borrowed a DSLR. and I like the portability but i love the zoom of the DLSRs.

So here are my options as I see it.

DSLR.
With my pricetag I can't afford a new one, but there is a secondhand Canon EOS 300d which i can get for within my range with a normal lens (i think 18-55mm) and a telephoto (something to 300). and I'm allowed to borrow the person I'm buying it off's lenses when shooting nearby.
Pros:
Big zoom
easy to customize shots
I don't really understand how to use it... YET
Cons:
max 30sec exposure (often take 60second exposures)
Bulky
Small LCD screen (which i use for lots of my night shooting by taking a test shot then adjusting composition)
only 6MegaPixels
Weighs slightly too much for my new tripod (it will hold but its slipping and i can see it breaking maybe)

Another Second hand DSLR... Know any good spots in north Queensland australia or good places online. (and i can probably get the lenses that i'd be getting with the 2nd hand camera for cheep anyway)

P&S
I've been using these for ages and love them. easy to transport and well I'm used to them, I dont like the lack of a big zoom (I've mostly been using the Ixus brand from canon and hate the Lumix P&S i've been using lately as a backup as it have a very proprietary setup and the night shots are lacking in colour intensity.

Canon Ixus Range
Pros:
Small
Light
fairly big LCD screen
easy to use setup
able to add extra features with CHDK
8+ Mega Pixels
Cons:
Lacking in Zoom

Another Canon range
probably similar to the above.

A different brand P&S.
Any suggestions here. I really want RAW capability and ablity to take long exposures.

Let me know what you think. Please

Yep I've made it. I'd hoped to accompany this waymark with a bunch of fancy sunrise photos, but I've been to busy lately and the one morning i got up specially for it (this morning) it was terribly raining, and i dont think my photos do any justice to it.

So I'm going to take a moment now to thank some of the people who watch me. who was my first watcher who i didn't know in real life, for her watch, and her consistent comments and constructive criticism. for her various modeling for me as well as her ideas during my "shoots". Finally to the many other people who i watch that inspire me, there are really too many to name and to all of those who watch me or favourite my works.

So what have i done recently? I have been busy but i have uploaded 2 deviations, [link] in scraps and [link] to my main gallery.

So what is ahead? Hopefully more sunrise and sunset photos, along with some more wandering in the night, If the conditions improve as the full moon approaches i might even try a long exposure photo shoot. Also I have started using the CHDK kit on my little canon P&S which i take most of my photos on, so I'm looking forward to the results of my experiments there.

Also apologies to those who have favourited my work after the recent feature by I havn't gotten around to thank you personally yet but I will shortly.
