Hey all,

Just wanted to let you know that I just posted a tons of art to my main website. I know some people post art they get from commissions and trades on their DA page (and that's cool), but I try to keep mine on my personal page.

Many are commissions I received at conventions over the past year (so about 3-4 conventions worth of backlog). Most of them are beagle transformations, but there's some other species like goats, wolves, dragons, and various dog breeds and hybrids on there. Check them out, let me know what you think. I hope you enjoy them since I like to share any art I receive. The more transformation art out on the net the better, right?

All gift art/trades/commissions I receive end up in the "Art from Others" section of my website: [link]

-Provo

Hey all,

I don't really have anything new to report, but since my last journal entry still said "Happy Holidays", I figured I'd post something new.

I'm taking a break from grad school this summer and I have some basic goals of what I'd like to accomplish as far as art/fursuits goes:

1) Finish Provo's body suit before AC
2) Possibly re-do Provo's head by AC
3) Finish writing Underdog skit to be performed at AC
4) Practice basic anatomy so I can draw faster
5) Finish Dragonaide request
6) Finish coloring my Goat Girl and possibly add short story
7) Find inspiration to start drawing transformation art again

That last one probably troubles me the most. It may be caused by #4, since I lack any real confidence in my art or my ability to quickly draw a figure (can take me over an hour just to get the basic anatomy down, with reference).

The other problem is that I seem to have various transformation themes floating around in my head, but just haven't felt inspired enough to draw them. I need something new, something fresh, something that makes me go, wow, I have to try drawing that. I'm open to ideas.

Take care, all.

-Provo

Hey all,

Some of you have asked and I figured it was worth posting that I am not open for commissions, nor I will be for the foreseeable future. Full-time Job + Grad School + Friends + GTA IV = Black Hole of Anti-Time Matter. Requests and trades are unfortunately closed for the same reason.

However, let's say you are sitting at home, possibly slightly inebriated, thinking, man, I have some money here that I want to either buy Provo's art or buy more beer, but the beer store is closed and Provo doesn't sell his art. What do I do?

Well, all hope is not lost, my friend. My girlfriend, Tigris, who has been trying to break into transformation art but is having trouble getting noticed, is currently taking commissions for transformation art. She's especially broke right now because her car broke down on the way to Anthrocon, which has thus drained her account.

But what does this have to do with your art, Provo? I'm glad you asked. To try and help her a) get her art more noticed, and b) cover the car bill, I am willing to do a limited number of art requests for those that commission Tigris. I told her that nobody probably cares about my art anyway, but we'll see what happens.

If there does happen to be a large response, I will have to limit the number of requests I can take on, although I would still highly recommend you check out her art. She does do adult work, but unfortunately most of her examples are on FurAffinity, which is still dead. Also realize I'm a much slower artist than Tigris, so you may actually get a final product from Tig much faster.

I will work it pretty much as an eye-for-an-eye type deal:
+ Buy a tf sketch from her, you'll get a tf sketch request from me
+ An inked for an inked
+ A colored for a colored; I am currently only doing Prisma Colors, though Tigris will do all types of mediums.
+ 2 badges for 1 badge; sorry for the exception here, but badges are cheaper and i'll drown in requests for these. She also does bag tags, so that can be used as an alternate to one of the badges.

Additional Details:
+ Sequences or normal character art can be negotiated. She'll do almost any style art, but my focus is on tf art and time constraints may limit me from doing sequences.
+ Sorry, no babyfur or AR art.
+ Tasteful nudity is okay. You can get an idea of what I will and will not do from my gallery.

If interested and for specific rates, please contact

----------

Hey wait, there's more!

I am on a mission to encourage artists to draw transformation art and to inject whatever money I can into the artists that draw transformation art. Every month, I take any extra money that I can afford and put them towards commissions.

The benefit is two-fold. I get something I like, and the artists get a commission. Most artists, like Tigris, struggle to get noticed and struggle even more to make any money off of doing what they love.

So, each month I comb through artists pages, seeing who is accepting commissions and who could really use them. I prefer tf art, or furry artists willing to give it a try, but I'll make exceptions. So if you notice any artists that could really use some commissions, or you are one of those artists, let me know! Be warned, though, as it will likely involve Beagles!

The one exception here is that I generally do not commission artists that are younger than 17-18. This is not to discriminate against you, but if your parents that you are living with start to ask why you are accepting $ from people online, that would not be cool. It's just not a good idea.

----------

Wait, one more thing!

Here are some artists on DeviantArt that I have commissioned from that I would highly recommend you taking a look at if you are looking for commissions, as well:

- Very, very friendly and professional artist that classifies herself as a "fantasy" artist, but loves to do transformation pictures.
Just a bit of an update for everyone. As furry conventions are addicting, I tend to try and attend 2-3 conventions a year. To date, i have been to 10 conventions (5 AC's, 3 FC's, 1 MFF, 1 FA United). This what is on my plate for the upcoming year:

+ Anthrocon 2008
+ FA: United 2008 (possibly)
+ FurFright 2008!!!

This will be my fifth Anthrocon in a row, so I'm excited about that. I will be in one of the skits for the Masquerade, and I'm working to prepare for that. I do not plan on being a part of any panels this year, but there is a slight chance I might end up in Artist Alley for a day. As far as the fursuit I am building, I will need a miracle to get it to be more than a half-suit by AC, but that wouldn't be the end of the world. The head is nearing completion and the paws have been started.

FA: United is a crapshoot at this point, and will depend on what's going on. I wanted to get a table or split a table with Tig in the Dealer's Room, but am not sure how it works to get a license to sell in NJ. Any insight would be useful.

I'm especially excited about FurFright this year, as this will be my first time attending. I've heard great things about this convention, especially for fursuiters (ack, I am one of those now >_< ). I have my room and roommates set for that, and am rearing to get there. *wags tail*

What conventions are you all planning to attend, if any? How many have you been to so far?

Club:

Oh yeah. By the way, I should mention that I will be at Further Confusion (a furry convention in California) in like 2 days. If you happen to be going there, be sure to look me up or hopefully I'll run into you.

I'll be mostly doing suiting events, I assume, but I may have some time to do some art trades. I'll also be hosting a fursuit performance panel on Sunday an will be in a skit. Can't wait to get there.
Take care!

Hope everyone has a wonderful holiday! I will be in Michigan this Xmas visiting the mate's parents, but I decided to post some art before I left.

I've been having fun with Prisma markers and have been writing short stories again, so I'll be posting more artwork and stories when I get back from vacation. I have taken a semester off from graduate school to relax, and plan to spend much of that time drawing and writing. I may even decide to offer my first commission here soon, though I doubt anyone would be really interested. We'll see.

Merry Xmas, and a Happy New Arf!

The picture she recieved a daily deviation for was The Herbolist ([link]). What's cool about this picture is that it was the first time she was using brown paper, which she complemented with sierra brown brush pens. It came out awesome!

Tig has also been doing some transformation pictures lately. If you are interested in this type of art, be sure to check out her galleries and leave comments so that she continues to do them! [link] and [link]

Also, I have been neglecting my deviantart account a bit and found that I had nearly 400 watches/favs I had not thanked people for. I thanked anyone that watched/fav'd me this month, but have erased any messages prior to that. THANK YOU for all your watches and favs, I do appreciate them!

Going forward, due to time constraints I will not be able to thank each of you for favs and watches. Please do not take this as me not appreciating you doing so, I just cannot keep up with thanking you for them all. However, I will be responding to all comments that you make on my art (of which I of course encourage you to do so).

As always, constructive criticism is always appreciated. On the other paw, if you really do like a picture and you really want to be awesome, please tell me what you like about it so I know to continue doing that.

I will be at Anthrocon again this year! I always enjoy meeting new people, so make sure you find me at some point and say hello!

How to find me? The best way to find me will be to watch the board at Anthrocon under the letter "P". I will be posting my room # and possibly my general whereabouts there.

I tend to try and dress down so as to sort of blend in with the crowd, but every year I lose a bit more of my sanity. If you see someone wearing a Beagle shirt, Beagle footpaws, or a Beagle tail, then you may be on the right track. If this person has red hair and a goatee, then you have likely found me.

Also, if you see a Beagle fursuit romping around, then you have likely found me. If the name of that Beagle suit is Ozzy, then you have definitely found me. The awesome and wonderful Nevermint has been kind enough to lend me his fursuit again this year and I'll be taking full advantage of it whenever I can go out and have fun.

I will be in the Masquerade this year doing a skit, so make sure to look for me in that. I will also be co-hosting a panel on Sunday about Fursuit construction and performance tips.

I will also be in the general drawing area (not the dealer's room or artist alley) doing as many art trades as time allows. Drawing animal transformation artwork is my favorite style, but I can try other types.

Here's also some general do's and don'ts:

My friends call me Provo. My full name is Provolveré (pronounced Pro-vohl-vehr-ray), but Provo works fine for me. Friends also call me Cheese, Bagel, Cheese Beagle, and a whole myriad of cheesy names which I've learned to deal with. lol!

Hugs are allowed if I know you. Otherwise, I don't generally like being touched more than casual contact. I still feel weird about scritches and do not like them. When I'm in a fursuit, though, just about anything is game, as I've learned to tolerate those types of things when I'm in suit.

Those are the basics, I believe. As a note, if you have a tail, I will grab it at some point and claim it as my own.

I can't wait to get to AC!!! Let me know if you are going to be there!

It's been awhile since I've posted an update. Am still around, just a bit consumed in real life after switching jobs and doing the graduate school deal.

Haven't really been drawing as much lately. There's been stuff I've been doing on the side and some little odds and ends I either need to post or finish. My actual website is probably done for now until I can rebuild it in such a way that it's easier to update.

Anthrocon was awesome and was excited to meet some of you there. It appears I will also be at MFF for the first time and possibly at FC again this year.

Also, I've recently been entertaining the idea of a mate. She does happen to be a fur and is an awesome and kute person. She makes the Beagle happy. May have an update for you on that later this month.

I'm pretty well backlogged on responding to comments but I will get to them eventually. Thank you everyone for your favorites, watches, and comments!

Until later, take care!!!

Yes I will be at Anthrocon. Again. Like I always am. lol

When I will get there is uncertain. I finally got around to getting into Graduate School recently, so that's been eating up quite a bit of my time. Anthrocon happens to fall right before my final for the class, but hopefully I can finish all of my work and study around the con so I don't have to do any at the con. Doing homework at a furry con would be LAME!

Give me a hollar if you are going to AC! As usual I will not be simple to locate unless I know where to find you or I know you are looking for me. I have a couple of you I'm going to be looking for in Artist Alley, and there's a number of artists in the Dealer's Room that could tell you what I look like. I tend to lurk about in the shadows, but I always love to meet new people so feel free to look me up and say hello!

But that also means Anthrocon is coming in less than a month!!!! I'm excited. Furry cons are a blast, with friendly people and great artwork and interesting panels and fun events. At first I was afraid of furry cons, but now I'm addicted to them. The only thing I'll be lacking that weekend is sleep b/c my body doesn't want to shut down when it's on a constant adrenaline high!

Maybe I'll cyaz there. If not, then sorry ya can't come. Maybe next year!
One day Beagles will take over the Earth, so you can either stand with them now, or become a Beagle slave as many owners already find themselves, though to a lesser extent. Kuteness conquers all, so be wary of the powerful Puppy Dawg Eyes of Doom! Obey the Beagles!!!

Here's a new journal just for the sake of having a new journal entry. lol

Been very busy since Anthrocon. Still have a bunch of stuff to post from AC, including a couple of sketches I did for folks. That was over a month ago! Blargh.

Anthrocon (AC) was absolutely amazing this year. Zax, Kitnoki, Krosserdog, Comus, Stria, Mat, Eagle Beagle, Roy D. Pounds, Havoc, SolidAsp, Randy, Lucious Appalucious, Dark Natasha, Canem, Wolfy, and everyone else I met there were absolutely wonderful. Got some great commissions / gift art as well, so keep an eye out for that once I can get around to updating my page.

AC Rant

One of the most interesting things that happened was me getting called up on stage for "Anthropoly" this year. I wasn't even going to show up, but got dragged there last minute by Stria (7 foot tall fursuiter friend and all around great person). I had to fill in a missing word in a sentence and hope the "judges" came up with teh same word. I lost pretty badly, but I was heavily distracted by the video cameras being focused right on me! I prefer to walk the shadows, so center stage is definitely not where I wanted to be! It was fun, though.

Also, I had a lot of fun meeting other animal transformation artists there, as there seemed to be a fairly reasonable representation of us there this year (about 10 or so, which isn't bad when there's only about a 100 of us out there). We ended up finding some tables in a corner and designating them as our own, and had our own "TF Bash" where we sat and drew together. Hard not to learn in that sort of environment, especially when your peers look over your shoulder and offer you tips and techniques!

One of my biggest accomplishments this year, though, was overcoming my fear of Fursuiters. The fear is nothing new. Ever since I was a kid, I've always been very dependent (like a dog) on reading people's facial expressions and body language to interpret them. But with a fursuit, not only are they looking at me and I can't see their face, they don't typically talk and they exaggerate their movements. So this was very difficult for me to overcome until this year where I actually helped two fursuiter friends get dressed and then escorted them around the con. Now that I've seen what it's all about, it doesn't seem so scary.

I never thought I'd go to a furry convention. Now i've been to 4. lol Hopefully everyone can have a chance to go to one at some point, as the friendly and open environment there is truly not like anything else you'll find on this planet.

End AC Rant

Hopefully I'll draw some more schtuff soon. Doesn't seem like i have any time to make for art these days, and when I do, I lack the motivation. But I haven't given up on it yet. Till then, Take care!

I'm really excited to be to my third Anthrocon and my fourth furry convention. Where else can you go to see people wearing tails, collars, and furry ears! It's definitely an experience. I come for the art and to have a good time with the folks I meet.

The theme for this year's Anthrocon is "Heroes", which I think is appropriate considering the day-to-day people that became heroes and took care of the injured in today's series of blasts in London. How terrorists can hate so much and be selfish enough to take other people's lives in blasts like that, I will never understand.
Thank you to all who for some reason visit my gallery. I'm not a Beagle that tries to make a lot of noise, but for some reason 11,000 of you have decided to stop by here.

I still have yet to post new art I finished a month ago, but that's the newest I have since I've had to focus on other tasks at hand. Hopefully it will not take another month to post, but we'll see what life has in store for me.

One last note: If you are going to be at Anthrocon ([link]) in July, look for the Beagle badge(s) and make sure to say hello. I don't try to stand out in a crowd, but I have yet to find another Beagle at a con!

Hey all! Yes, I'm still alive and breathing just fine. *Double-checks lungs just in case* Yeah, still breathing. I have been a very, very busy body as of late. But when aren't I? I just started doing some Autocross racing this spring, and that's been taking away all that theoretical spare time I often imagine having. lol

Art is coming, I promise! I *just* finished a seven-picture woman-to-canine transformation sequence, so I need to now scan those in and add a touch of color before I post them. I also have 20 subway sketches I've done, some of which will trickle themselves into my scraps section over the next couple days. Plus some other stuff in the works, so if you're interested, or just generally amused, keep a look out.

Many thanks to Jordan Lorenz ( ) for all his support and advice as of late. For someone I don't technically know, he's really made a very real impact on my life, and my art. But don't think I'm forgetting everyone else out there that are always there for me. I appreciate it!

It's been awhile since I've written a journal entry, so here's a new one.

Life is going alright at the moment, I suppose. I straightened issues out with my company such that I don't have to move again, so that's some weight off my shoulders.

I've been making new friends in the neighborhood, so that's been keeping me busy. Turns out one of my neighbors is an author for children's books, and she'd like me to illustrate a book for her. I haven't decided on that, yet. Could be an interesting change of pace.

Don't forget St. Patrick's day is coming! I'll be celebrating it this weekend and on Thursday, so here's hoping I remember celebrating it. Gotta celebrate my heritage, don't you know!

So much has been building up lately, I guess I didn't even realize how it was all affecting me and how stress was building up. I'm definitely not climbing one of my tallest peaks (far from it), nor sinking into one of my lowest valleys. I'm just maxed out right now, trying to find some clarity and some peace of mind.

At work, I'm keeping a happy face on since I guess all in all I'm not doing too bad for myself. Now they want to move me to a new location, and if that happens, I feel I'll be getting a short end of a stick. I'm starting to have my doubts that I chose the right place to work, but I guess it's too early to tell.

At home, I found I had a crush on someone. I hate crushes. I thought I had buried my heart deep beneath hardened soil, but this one caught me offguard. I did what I always do with crushes, though: I didn't say anything. She'll be better off anyway.

With my art, I've been struggling. I bought a couple of books to help me develop my style, but I have no time to read them. That's been frustrating. Same for drawing. When I do find time to draw, I find I have a bunch of ideas, but not a one I feel motivated to get down on paper. It's worse than artist block, it's artist hell.

One thing that keeps me going is the support I've been getting from some very good friends. Friends (and family) keep me going. Folks like Jordan Lorenz and Faith (and a pic Redfeather drew) keep me drawing. I thank everyone for their support and even just talking to me. It helps.

Special thanks to those who draw my character, though. I don't ask for such things, but I'm glad my character can inspire you and that you thought about me. I feel bad because most times I'm so busy with life that I can't draw something decent in return.

All in all I guess it's not such a bad month. Nobody has died this month like they were a couple months ago. As long as I have breath left in this body, I'll keep going on. Just need to get myself straightened out. Take it easy.

This past week I have been suffering from a bad cold, but at least I felt fine and was able to enjoy Further Confusion in San Jose, California last week.

I realize that not everyone here has the opportunity to attend a furry convention, so I’m going to write up a brief summary of what my experience was like to give you an idea if this would be something you would ever be interested in attending.

I have also attended Anthrocon in Philadelphia, PA, twice now. The most notable difference between them is size – AC bringing in 2,400 folks and FC with 1,400. When it comes down to it, FC has more panel discussions and workshops to attend, while AC has more artists to choose from.

The Art

One of my favorite parts of any convention is the artwork. I have quickly learned that there is a huge difference between seeing pictures online and seeing them in person. The amount of detail that is lost from the time you scan a picture and convert it into .JPG format is really quite shocking. For example, you would never know that when Kyoht fills in white smoke on some of her pictures, that paint strokes seem to stand off the paper like the smoke is actually rising. Not to mention how some of the thin strokes of fur that are so impressive in person disappear by the time you it online.

For those who love art, there is plenty of it at this type of convention. There is a Dealer’s Room full of popular artists, including Dark Natasha, Kyoht, XianJaguar, Rog Minotaur, Van Camp, and many others. There is plenty of books and comics, as well. For a price of about $15-25, you can get a sketch or a badge from one of your favorite artists (though make sure to hit them the first day if they are really popular). Let me highly recommend meeting Dark Natasha, possibly one of THE most fan-friendly folks in the entire genre.

There is also a number of lesser known artists that have their own space, sometimes referred to as Artist’s Alley, where you can get a deal on some cheaper sketches, badges, or prints. Last but not least, there is a section where you can bid on original artwork on display, but even if you can’t afford to make any bids, this is a great section gives you a rare opportunity to see some of your favorite artwork in person before it disappears into someone’s private collection.

Creator’s Lounge

If you would like to draw and do some art trades, the Creator’s Lounge is the right place for you. I bumped into several artists in here, including Lance-Foxx and Thrashwolf. It’s a great place for artists to sit and interact while they do what they love doing… drawing. I used the room to do a collaboration piece with a new artist I just met, Tundra. I’ll be posting that picture once I finish inking it.

I didn’t do many art trades, though, as it is generally pretty hard to get artwork from me. I had one artist, Redfeather, ask me why that was. I really had to think about that. The reason is, I believe, that for nearly a decade before posting online, my art was for my eyes only. Not in a selfish way, but in a very protective i-do-not-want-to-be-judged sort of way. Sharing my artwork online was a big step for me, and so physically sharing my artwork with others is the next hurdle I’m trying to overcome.

The Panels

For those who enjoy panels, there were number of discussions and workshops you could attend. Whether you enjoy writing, drawing, sculpting, fursuiting, Egyptian history, or just having fun, there’s a wide range of panels you can attend. I focused mostly on drawing panels to pick up on some art tips and tricks. My favorite panel, though, was one Redfeather recommended to me last minute to attend: Improv Workshop. Now that was a great time!

Night-Events

There are also a number of late-night events, such as concerts, comedy acts, or fursuit shows. Although the idea of Fursuiters putting on shows seemed awfully strange to me at first, it is now an event I make sure I regularly attend. The Variety Show (or Masquerade at AC) allows fursuiters that sign up to do skits, and they often are very amusing to watch. For those not interested in these types of shows, there are plenty of room parties to crash.

The People

People? What people? Hyoomans are bad!!!

Seriously though, the best part of every convention I have been to are the folks I have met there. Let me take a moment to mention and thank a few of them here.

I was very glad to have two of my close friends be able to join me, Liyoht the Husky and Canem the Briard.
This weekend I will be flying across country to attend Further Confusion '05 ([link]) in California. I never thought I'd go to one of these furry cons (they seemed wierd from the outside), and now this is going to be my third one (the other being nearby in Philadelphia for Anthrocon).

If it's something you ever have the chance to do, I'd recommend trying to get to a furry convention. There's a number of panels you can sit in to gain knowledge on how to draw or write in the genre, as well as plenty of artwork and fine folks to meet.

With that said, I look forward to attending! Hopefully I don't get run over by an airplane looking for a terminal, knowing my luck.

Hopefully I'll come back refreshed and ready to draw. It's been a little while now. Take care all!

Provo got run over by a reindeer.
Walking home from work Dec. 17.
You can say there's no such thing as Santa,
but as for me and George W. we believe.

He'd been drinking too much jager,
and was skipping out early.
So he just ran out that damn office, and he
staggered out the door into the road.
When we found him an hour later,
at the scene of the attack,
he had hoof-prints on his forehead,
and incriminating Claus marks on his back.

Provo got run over by a reindeer.
Walking home from work Dec. 17.
You can say there's no such thing as Santa,
but as for me and George W. we believe.

Now we're all proud of Provo’s roommate,
He's been taking this so well.
See him in there watching football,
drinking beer and
doing something in his chair.
It's not Christmas without Provo,
All the city's dressed in black
and we just can't help but wonder:
Should we open up his gifts,
or send them back?
Send them back!!

Provo got run over by a reindeer.
Walking home from work Dec. 17.
You can say there's no such thing as Santa,
but as for me and George W. we believe.

Now the goose is on the table
and the pudding made of fig
and the blue and silver candles
that would just have matched
the hair on Provo’s head.
I've warned all my
friends and neighbors
better watch out for yourselves,
they should never give a license
to a man who drives a sleigh
and houses elves.

So yeah, I got hit by a car when walking across a crosswalk on Friday.

I went to the hospital and have been spending the past couple days recovering. It feels like someone let me have it a couple times with a baseball bat, but nothing is broken and nothing internal is injured. Just a minor concussion and some bruises on my back.

Ironic thing is there was a news crew there about to do a story on how unsafe crosswalks were in my area, and there was a police squad parked up the street, so there were cops and camera crews around me before I knew which way was up.

A couple people have been hit in this crosswalk before because there are 4 lanes to cross (so you can't see when a car is speeding up in the 2nd lane). I just hope they can do something with the crosswalks there so this doesn't have to happen to someone again.

I'll be alright, I'm just sore now. I've learned that, as a Beagle, it is better to chase cars than to try and stop them with my body mass. lol

I haven't really been drawing lately because of a combination of reasons, including me being busy and having a couple things on my mind. I've been making to efforts to get myself back on track, though, and I've been starting to draw again. I'm taking a little bit different approach to my art now as I strive to improve, and maybe you'll see some changes towards the better, soon.

One thing has been bothering me lately, and it's worth getting off my chest so I can attempt to just move on with it. This month marks two years (not that long, really) since I broke up with my last girlfriend, a relationship that turned out to be quite literally a nightmare by the time it came to an end. Never had such great relationships, but this past one really sealed the deal.

After that, I had locked my heart up in a colorless, oderless place, but it occassionaly tries to come out again and remind me that it's still alive and I'm still sometimes lonely. I remind my heart, though, of the pain it will feel when I hand it out to someone who will only abuse it and hurt me all over again. No, best to stay locked up, I say.

I think my one friend said it best: I'm just not ready for a relationship. What I'm afraid of is even if I did find the "right" person, I'd probably let her go to avoid the risk of pain. It's a shame, but my own weight to bare. I suppose no matter how much I try to fool myself, this beagle will always feel incomplete without a mate. But, I guess if I really need companionship, then it's probably time to invest in a pet.

Not much else to say. Life goes on, I'll survive.

I really love being a part of DeviantArt here, and I’d like to thank everyone who has made this such a great place to be!

I will not be around for about a week, as I will be on my second vacation of the year. Yeah, I know, I can’t believe I have time to take vacation either. But I am very excited about getting to see my nephews this weekend, as I only ever get to see them about once a year.

I’m hoping this weekend will help keep me positive going into a new month, as September has been sour to me. My friends ask me how I can keep a smile on my face with some of what has been going on, but I just grin at them and nod. Yeah, my bills are adding up, my car broke down, my best friend’s medication is wearing off and she might be suicidal again soon, a friend of the family is on her death bed, my dad lost his job, my family has to sell their house, … BUT hey, that’s all alright. I’ve got a new job now, everyone is still alive and breathing, so that's a place to start. It’s all good. Then again, a vacation to get my mind off things isn’t so bad, either.

I know we each have our own big and small issues to worry about, so I hope everyone enjoys their weekend, as well.

Take care!

Life has been busy as of late, and yesterday I was just informed that will be turning up a notch in the next week or so. There are definitely pros and cons for being a consultant, a role I’m still trying to get used to. I’m not giving up, though; I’ve worked too hard to get here.

The advantage of my job is I have a great deal of flexibility with what I can do in my career; if I get bored doing one job, I can always look for a new project to transition to. The problem is there’s very little to no consistency to hold onto. There’s never a permanent location or even desk to call my own.

Since my current project was coming to an end, there were several project teams trying to get a hold of me. The one I have chosen is very exciting, but it will add another 45 minutes to my 40 minute commute. Yeah, that sucks. I guess the positive side to that is I’ll have much more time to work on my Subway Sketches.

Free time is hard to make or come by these days, so it’s rare that I get time to work on my own art, nonetheless requests.

However, as per tradition, I will do a sketch for the first person to send me a screenshot of my 3,000th page view here on DeviantArt. I might be doing the sketch on the subway, though!

Take care!

Nothing much has happened the past few weeks. I mean, I moved and started a new job. It’s just a whole new chapter in my life, so no big deal.

In the mean time, I’ve been trying to decide whether or not to go on with my art, or just focus on my career. At this point I’ve determined that I have enough flexibility to focus on my career while I’m at work, and not have to bring it home with me. Plus drawing serves as a good stress reliever.

The only problem has been trying to keep up with requests. I guess when you start getting decent, everyone wants you to draw something for them. Problem is, I’ve never been much good at requests. I have to see what I’m drawing in my head before it makes the paper, and that’s hard to do when I’m trying to draw someone else’s vision. Right now my focus has been finishing up some of my own ideas, before I try to tackle some of the requests that are piling up.

Something I am proud of, though, is my 600+ Deviation Comments. Most of those comments are feedback I’ve given artists to try helping them improve their art. Leaving feedback, as I’ve learned, is a skill in itself; over time your feedback improves as you interact with artists. You learn more about what to look for and what terms you can use to describe what you see.

The knowledge you gain from leaving comments can also be translated into your own drawings, as you learn what to watch for in your own art. It takes time and effort, but so far it’s been worth it. It’s been very helpful for me, and I hope that I’ve helped those I’ve left feedback for along the way.

Thank you to all of you that come here, and especially those who take the time to leave comments. I use the critical feedback I get to improve my art, and I appreciate all comments that I receive. Let me also not forget to thank DeviantArt for providing this great medium for artists to interact.

Take care, all!

After Anthrocon, I had very little time to think about my experience before I had to deal with the Moving Company of Doom. It was not a fun experience. But the point is I’m moved in, and now can get ready to start my new job in the Information Technology field.

Before I get started working, though, I have some ‘free’ time to scan any sketches that I did or had done, so I’ll start posting those soon in a combination of on here and on my website.
Well, I have now returned from Anthrocon, and I must say I had a blast. After lurking for nearly a decade, it seems hard to believe I’ve now been to two of these events, but I am glad that I have done so. Everyone at the con was very friendly. You can walk up to just about anyone and start a conversation because you know you have something in common to talk about. Not to mention all of the artwork you get to see, all the artists/writers you get to meet, and the special events you can attend during the day. What a great time! A special thanks to all those I met at Anthrocon that made it such a tremendous experience.

I also have a ton of new sketches to scan in that I received from other artists in trades and as gifts, but have to wait until I unpack my scanner (in the process of moving). I also have some new sketches I worked on while I was at Anthrocon, as inspiration seems to thrive in that type of atmosphere. I learned so much from other artists and from the events I attended while I was there that I can’t wait to apply it to my own art.

In the mean time, I’m moving, so it’ll be a little while until I have time to work on posting new art. Can’t wait to start my new job in August, but should have some new art up before then. Until then, take care!

Hello everyone! Hope the summer is treating you well.

Today marks one week until Anthrocon ( [link] ), a furry convention that I will be attending for the second year in a row. What that means is I have one week to finish up packing, since I move two days after the convention.

You will probably not see me around much before the convention, but I will try to post the badge I’ll be wearing. I have to finish up some badges for my friends first before I do mine, though. If you are going to Anthrocon, just look for a beagle badge; I doubt there are too many floating around. If you are at the con, do make sure you say hello, as I always enjoy meeting new people!

It may be awhile before I’m on again, so take care!

I also need to get ready for Anthrocon in July, and then having to move right after I get back. Thanks to everyone that comes to my DeviantArt page here, and a special thanks to those who have taken the time to leave feedback. Your comments really do help.

The other night I found myself admiring the full moon as it lazily moved across the midnight sky. I’ve often looked at the moon for guidance and for self-reflection, wondering if and how I might be deserving of such a light being cast down upon me. There are some big changes in store for me, so I hope I do not lose myself as the world around me transforms. Mid-July will hopefully represent the last move I have to make for awhile as I start my new job at the beginning of August. New job, new friends (hopefully), new location, and figuring out how to prioritize my interests; should be fun.

But before I move, I’m looking forward to going to Anthrocon in July. This will be my second year there and I’m excited that I will be there to enjoy the whole weekend, where as last year I was only there for a day. Although I never pictured myself as ever going to a furry convention, I ended up having a great time and can’t wait to get back there. If you are going to Anthrocon, make sure you give me a holler, since I always love meeting new people. If you have any questions about what it is or what it might be like, I’d be glad to answer those as well.

Now that I’ve had some time to practice my drawing again, I’ve realized how bad I really am at drawing. But, I now have a better sense of what I need to do to improve. Right now I’m focusing on parts: getting eyes down, getting faces right, etc. and so forth, and hopefully I can simplify my style so that I can output something that I think looks decent. Working on that and some writing.

Oh, and seeing as it seems to be a mini tradition around here, I’ll be doing a sketch for person 1000. Since more than one person might see it (if you are a repeat visitor and it doesn’t register you as being unique), it’ll go to the first person to send me a screenshot, so keep your eyes peeled. I have some restrictions as to what I will and will not draw, but you’ll find that out when you mail me.

I am back now and with something I haven’t had in a long time: free time! No, no, I must be dreaming. This certainly will not last for long! So now I’m working on some sketches, some stories, and new layout for my web page until my “real life” starts getting busy again (as I’m sure it will soon enough).

Most importantly, I’d like to thank the furs that come to my page here, especially those that have me on their watch and/or friends lists. Thank you all very much. You’ve encouraged me to break out my old slanted art table; it feels like I’ve been given a second chance as an artist. I know I’m not great, but that will not stop me from trying to improve.

I’m finishing up signing a lease for an apartment in D.C., where I will be moving this summer. I’ll be living with my parents for most of the time until then (how fun) since I just moved out of my last place.

However, I will be out every day from here until mid-May. There will be some partying, some socializing, some trips, some partying, some graduating, some movies, and some partying. So I’ll be busy, but it’s a good sort of busy.

I’ll try to get online when I can! Take care all!

After planning and helping coordinate a technology convention since September, today was go time. I now have a new respect for the people who put together the sci-fi and furry conventions for people. It’s a lot of work, but it is really worthwhile when it is all said and done.

Months of preparation paid off; the event was a success. I haven’t seen the final numbers, but there were about a thousand people there. The way the convention was set up, we had companies displaying their latest technologies, key note speakers giving lectures, break out sessions led by industry leaders on the latest emerging technologies, mock interviews, resume review sessions, and a student consulting contest, which I was the main coordinator for. There were small “fires” I had to fight all day, which kept me busy, but it was a good type of busy. No one attending the event had any reason to think things were running anything but smoothly.

Although Information Technology is my profession, eventually I’d like to get more involved with the furry cons. So far I’m still very much a fan just feeling things out, but down the road I’d like to actually help out more. We’ll see.

April Insights

Every once in awhile I like to stick my head out of my dog house and send a shout out to let people know I’m still here. The past couple weeks have been crazy, to say the least, as something is always going on to fill up each hour of my day. I haven't been around to chat as much, or surf, or even draw or write. But I've been doing some neat stuff that just takes up a good deal of time.

But then, when looking over my schedule for the next month, I realized it’s April. April is where it all comes together. Everything will be coming to an end this month as events I run wind down, as I should be signing a lease for a new apartment soon, and as I finish my last semester of college.

The few years have been a rough road to travel at times, but I've tried my best and I've supported those around me as best I can. It has also been a time of personal exploration. After being a lurker for nine years, I've spent the last two years (as of April) trying to figure out where being "furry" fits into my life. Despite some deep wounds, I think I’ve come a long way to heal them. There’s too much I want to do with my life both personally and professionally to get held up on my past.

Thank each and every one of you that take the time to stop here, look at my “art”, and read my rants. I appreciate it.

Hello everyone!

It's been one of those months where eating and sleeping have played second fiddle to everything else I've been doing. But, I'm still alive and well, and plan on using this DeviantArt account more...

... once I get back from New York City. I'm taking a vacation for a week and have a full itinerary of things to do with my best friend of seven years, Lilly. Should be a great time!

I already have a web site where I post my better stuff, and a mailing list where I post my worst stuff, but I think I might use this page for some misc. stuff I draw. Since I was a cartoonist for a decade before I started posting this type of art, I always get people asking me about that. Although I can't post any of my published or commissioned cartoons, I have plenty of doodles lying around.

Any way, my friend is waiting to be picked up. As long as I don't get robbed and wounded, I'll be back!
