Ok...Some of you may have seen my deviation called Dear Dad. I asked in the description of it what you all thought about me sending it to my father. I think it would help you all to understand if you were to read one of the letters that he has sent me. Here is the most recent one.

Samantha,

My answer to your request that I cosign on a loan for you is a definitive NO. You made the choice to attend the University of Wyoming without any input from me. In fact, you've made numerous choices and made countless decisions on your own accord this past year in which I was never consulted nor considered. And why you would leave the State of Colorado and go to an out of State University without having your finances in order prior to attendance bewilders me. Why you chose to divert your original course and attend Aims Comminity College for two years and have it paid for through grants further baffels me. But youare now eighteen, a young adult, and you must learn to live with those adult decisions. I remember countless occasions offeringn my time to discuss your future and college education. It has become overwhelmingly apparent to me that you really don't want my counsel in regard to your education or any other matters of life. If you are having a difficult time financially right now, maybe you should reevaluate your decision to attend at this time, find gainful employment, and then return to school when you have the money.

You asked me the question; "Does mom really hate the fact that Gran is a lesbian?" This is one that would best be asked of your mother. I really don't care about their relationship, nor do I care if your grandmother is a lesbian or not.

You also requested staying at my place of residence over Christmas Break in December. ABSOLUTELY NO! No one will be allowed to stay at my home during that time. That time was only allotted to your mother to remove her personal belonings and agreed upon marital properties. It was never intended for anyone to stay here. Plus, I believe that your mother intends to complete this task prior to Christmas Break.

Recently, I requested that you no longer correspond with me via e-mail at my place of work. I insist that you do as I have requested. I will no longer respond to e-mails. If you wish to correspond, do it via the postal service, and I suggest that you change your tone with how you address your father!!!

Dad

There you have it. Word-for-word. The only thing that is different from the original letter is that I could not Bold and Underline the words that he did. Ladies and gentlemen...that's my father. I have not written a response to him as of yet. I plan to, but I have been very busy with a lot of things.

Notes to explain some of the things he said:

1. Cosigning a loan: I asked him to cosign a STUDENT LOAN with me. He was my last resort as of that time. Otherwise, I was going to be kicked out of school with no place to go. I had told him this in my email requesting that he cosign with me.

2. Going to UW instead of Aims: I decided that the best thing for me to do was to get out of my home town. There were too many horrible memories of my father there for me. I was losing my mind.

3. Making descisions without consulting/considering him: I moved out of his house exactly one year ago as of this coming Monday. Things were getting very bad in that house and I could not take it any more. I did not feel welcome in my own home. He wanted so much privacy with his girlfriend (whom had moved in with us that September) that I would get in trouble for coming home. To be completely blunt, he just wanted to have sex on the livingroom couch.

4. Me asking if my mother hates that my grandmother is a lesbian: I asked him this because I have recently discovered that there is more to my sexuality. I am bisexual. For 18 years, I thought I was completely straight (not homophobic by any means, but straight). I fell for a girl that was absolutely amazing. This was a very confusing time for me, and I have always been able to turn to my parents at times like this. However, my grandmother happens to be a lesbian, and every time that has been brought up, my mother gets very short with everyone. I was simply trying to find out if I would be able to talk to my mother about it. I was also sort of hinting to my father. I guess it wasn't a good enough hint...He completely ignored it.

5. Staying at his place of residence: I wanted to stay there over Christmas Break so that I could help my mother remove her belongings and also see my dog. I miss my dog terribly, and she is getting old. He completely shot me down. Plus....it's my mom's house too, until the divorce is settled.

6. Changing my tone when I address my father: I simply said, in my email regardin...
