On a sadder note, my grandfather who has been suffering from Alzheimer's Disease is getting worse mentally and is in the later stages of the disease. Today is his last day before he is put in a treatment home. I'm afraid that by the next time I see him, he won't recognize me. I can only hope.

I don't expect to find anything real special. Well, yesterday, I pick away the first few in the pile and find a record by The Beatles! I love The Beatles so I picked up the record right away. Now, the album I got, "Yesterday And Today", is a US only record released in 1966. There's a funny story behind the album. The US albums were typically released without The Beatles' consent. Therefore, the cover images weren't as artistic as the UK releases. Well, when the album was originally pressed, they used a humorous image taken at a photo shoot. [link] After printing a bunch of copies, they sent them out to stores. The reaction was immediate. Stores refused to sell the album due to the cover image. The copies were returned before they went on sale. The record company was ordered to destroy the records but seeing that so many had already been printed, they decided to try something else. They plastered a sticker of another Beatles photo on top of all of the records, completely hiding the original image. Obviously, they printed all further pressings with the new cover image printed on the record sleeve instead of using a sticker. The sticker is extremely sticky so it's apparently real hard to pull off. Well, now these copies with the sticker still intact are very rare. They sell as much as $200 on EBay. Well, for 99 cents, I found one of these rare copies, in fairly good condition too. When I saw the album, I never would have guessed that it was one of the original pressings so I didn't even look for a sticker. But when I got home, I noticed it. I'm real happy now.

I decided to enter even though I've only played Rock Band once or twice. When I got there, there were twelve people signed up including myself. They assigned us to four groups of three and each group would compete against the others. I just happened to be randomly teamed up with a really great singer and a good guitarist. I played the drums. We managed to beat the other three bands after playing three songs. Now, here's the funny part. Before the competition, you are required to sign up online a few hours before. When it asked for my name, I just used alias as I usually do there for fun. I put in Felix McKinnon which is a silly name I've used before. After the tournament, I found out that they assigned the groups alphabetically. That means that if I had entered my real name, I would have been teamed up with the group that lost last place. Anyway, me and the two other guys in my team now had to compete against each other on the guitar. The first kid got 98% on the song, the second got 100%! I was a bit nervous now but I managed to get 100%. I also beat the second kid by like 1000 points. I was so excited. I won a $25 Best Buy gift card.

In other news, I'm working on a music engine right now so I can post some more of my music.
