I might be buying a lens to fit the 10D because the rightful owner uses the current attached one as a spare for his work - and there isn't another I can borrow from him. Would it be wrong to buy the lens before I have my own camera to attach it to?!

Exams tomorrow and Wednesday, then I'm done until summer. So this is my 10 minute break before I'm back to planning essay answers and cramming useless information in!

I had to make up numbers to play hockey today for a friend's assessment, and they ended up putting me back in goal because the origial goalie pulled out. So on top a hill, with strong gusts, with sleet and snow coming into my helmet, I stood for about an hour. Plus we were playing a younger year who were much less experienced, so there was less for me to do. I'm still waiting for the feeling to come back to my legs.

EDIT - And this Friday just past I photographed another local bandnight. Due to the atrocious lighting conditions, the photos were all taken at ISO 800, 1/45sec, f/3.5 or lower. But they did turn out, without too much noise. Woah.

I've almost completed the first term of my evening course AS level in photography. I've mounted 9 images which I processed and developed myself, and I have a workbook of blagging to hand in. Then we're all heading down to the pub..and so starts the Christmas drinking.

I should be getting out over the break to do more street with either camera, when I have more time. Also, I can process films at home now, have the tank and stuff. Should be fun.

On my way back home, I went to a concert and took more photos (Reverend Bizarre). The shutter continued to jam.

Rather than waste more film, or pay for a repair which would probably equal how much the camera is worth, I've cut my losses and ordered an OM-1N from ebay, which I think had tried to be delivered this morning while nobody was in - I'll probably collect that tomorrow.

I start my new job this weekend, which means money, which means I'm closer to getting a new digital one too.

I asked a repair place for a rough quote, and it'll be more than a quarter of how much the camera was new. Now, to be quite honest, I've had it for a few years. I'm out-growing it technically anyway and I just can't justify spending that much to get it repaired. On the other hand, it's sad to see my first 'proper' camera going.

This morning I went to see my neighbour's new baby (who is so lovely), and my dad brought up that my camera broke and I've been offered use of his 10D plus lens/lenses. So I'm a happy bunny, I will probably borrow that next weekend for a day in London.

From what I understand, it's mostly film, and focused on the technical side of cameras and the developing of films. Which suits me, as I'm pretty much clueless on that, whereas I know basics of image structure and visual arts and stuff.

I'm poor, I'm owed money from several people. All of my cameras and valuables went into my small piece of handluggage, not a problem. On the return, I could take my regular backpack with everything as usual. 'Sall good. Our bags were momentarily lost in Copenhagen because they missed the connection to London, but it's all home now, safe and sound.

Tomorrow I spend one night in London then 3 nights in York. Fingers crossed on the weather for some good opportunities.

I'm going to Finland on Thursday. I've learnt that I can buy things after security, so I'll at least be able to get a book for the 3 legs and 2 stopovers of the journey. I'm going to Jalometalli, which is going to be really good (hopefully!) and I've just ordered some colour film to take with me. Hopefully the rechargable batteries arrive in time too.. I'm worried about everything having to go into the hold (especially with the 3 different legs of the journey), but fingers crossed it'll all be there at the other end.

I did photos for a friend's a band in Redhill on last Sunday too, which I should get back tomorrow. First concert I've done on film, so we'll see how that goes.

I had my first proper shoot in a studio last week. I had a few ideas, and there was a flowering artichoke in Paul's garden that we brought in to use too. It was fantastic. It all seems so straight forward, but there is so much versatility. I love it.

Tomorrow I've got a classmate to do some modelling for me. It'll be quite casual shots, with 2 backgrounds - white and mottled dark velvet. The latter apparently works very well for black and white shots. I've got some ideas, and so does the model, and Paul, so it should all come together nicely!

I borrowed a Canon EOS 10D from my neighbour for the Sprite Urban Games. I can't face coming back to my Powershot and stuff now..it was just so awesome to use! I was slightly worried about it when the BMX fell on it though. Less worried than I was about my head which took a heavier blow. All was fine though.

I uploaded some photos to the Jessops print service, and they give 10 free large prints. So I went for it, and had some my favourites printed out for real, as opposed to shitty Epson stuff.

Air that you can see? Pass. Rude, arrogant and in-yer-face people? No thanks. Crowded streets, pollution and litter everywhere you look; overpriced everything. The journey there and back is a pain (45 minute train journey for me).

On the other hand, it is an endless pit of pictures. Over the past year or so I have spent days just wandering around, taking photos, hours at a time, forgetting everything and concentrating on the constantly changing subjects around me.

I'm just uploading pics from an area of London I hadn't previously explored - the City. On a Saturday it is eerily quiet. Shops and cafes are shut, you can walk down streets without seeing people, without seeing lights on in the offices, without hearing cars. It was almost scary.

At the very bottom.

The problem is, because I entered nearly all the categories, I can't remember which images I entered. I am almost positive it was one of my Finland sunset shots and a Scotland one and others, but I can't for the life of me remember.

Those photos, or my other entries, might be in the book that will be released next year, so I'll have to check that out!

EDIT - I emailed them , and I was commended for my 'Natural World' entry - so most of the shots were taken in Finland if I remember correctly.

I also found out I won a competition at school for 'Vision of Science - Chemistry at Work' for a picture of a rusting padlock in London. I win an HMV voucher. ]]> ~Purification
