For those of you who, like me, watch ~SuperPrincessAngela, you may know that she just did a tag journal listing her top ten favourite games. And now, I aim to do the same! (Mostly because I was tagged to do so!)

Most of these, I imagine, won't surprise anyone... anyway, to the point:

#1- Super Mario Bros. 3 (NES)
- One of the most anticipated Mario games... at least at that time.
- Established so many things for Mario's world that are now staple material.
- Can't deny the nostalgia. Sure, it's not the best Mario game, I know, but for those who were there when it happened...
- I cried when I beat this game. CRIED, man! It was one of the best days of my LIFE!!

#2- Super Mario Bros. (NES)
- The first game I ever saw. I was entranced. It's what got me into games!
- The simplicity and fluidity of the game's physics and appearance make it a work of art.

#3- Super Mario 64 (N64)
- It was a game I could really get engrossed in.
- The visuals were amazing, and the music really complimented the feel of the game.

#4- Tetris (GB, keychain, DS, NES, cell phone)
- Yeah... I have a half dozen ways to play it. Tetris is just that game I can pick up anytime and play. I started with the original GB version when I was about 7, and never really stopped playing.
- I play it a lot with ~SuperPrincessAngela, though she beats me a lot now!

#5- Super Mario World (SNES)
- Such a great expansion on the series.
- Great game mechanics and an excellent learning curve/challenge.
- Again, very immersive.

#6- Super Mario Bros 2 (NES)
- I put hours into this game,
- Felt like such a different turn from the original (Since we had no idea it wasn't really a Mario game).
- Regardless, many elements of this game came back later as established Mario enemies.

#7- The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (N64)
- Do I really need the reasons? It's considered one of the best games of all time.
- You can play through it, and then start over, and it is still fun!
- I do love the whole series, notably LoZ:LttP, and Loz:LA, not to mention the NES ones, but this one is by far, my favourite.

#8- Super Mario Kart (SNES)
- Such a different and innovative racing game, unlike any others of its time.
- Multiplayer was great. Simple to learn, but hard to truly master.
- Again, I do love the whole series, notably MKDS, and MK64, but this one is by far, my favourite.

#9- Super Metroid (SNES)
- Took the original formula and improved or added so much.
- Again, I do love the whole series, notably the NES Metroid, and Fusion on GBA, but this one is by far, my favourite.

#10- Kirby's Adventure (NES)
- It was pretty long for an NES game, and provided a fair challenge.
- Very colourful, with nicely established world themes.
- A lot of variety in backgrounds, music, and bosses.
- Again, I do love the whole series, notably the KSS/KSSU; KD 1,2 & 3; K64; spinoffs like Avalanche and Dream Course; and many others, but this one was probably my favourite.

And there we have it. Keep in mind, these are my favourites of all time. If I were asked what my current favourites were, I'd have to say Kirby 64, Super Mario Galaxy, and Oblivion on PC (Reiterating what Angela said - the game is huge, with almost endless quests, and the visuals are beautiful). Of course, these are current obsessions. Perhaps in a year, I'd say something completely different. But, these 10 listed here will always hold their places as my favourites.

Time for a break, once again. No, I'm not going to go missing from dA again for a long while - this time it is not my choice. I just moved into a new place, and now have to go without Internet at home for quite a while - until the phone company can come and install the lines.

I can access the Net at my college, but there are also plenty of projects to work on, so I have to be careful to use my now limited Internet time wisely.

I need to head out now, for a waste-of-time Marketing class. But you can expect some small updates from me here and there, and I will try to keep up with comments and such as well. Hopefully my weekly polls will spawn some interesting discussions in comments.

Anyway, back to the grind!

Well hello! Salutations, good morrow and how d'you do?

Hope nobody missed me too much while I was basically absent from dA for about two friggin' months. So, I suppose I have some explaining to do... or at least plenty of news.

Firstly, I am no longer employed. At all. Got away from that lousy job at that oh so Canadian doughnut and coffee shop named after a hockey player who killed himself whilst driving drunk and high on meds in the heart of Toronto yet we revere his name nonetheless due to the general public's addiction to the lousy but brain-washing sludge they affectionately refer to as coffee, which shall remain nameless. *Ahem* I feel a tremendous amount of relief now and am generally a lot happier and stress-free. That in itself is big news to me.

...but wait, there's more...

You may ask "But Pyro! Now zat you are uneemployed, what iz eet you are doing?" (If you're from France). Well, I decided to leave the lowly life of customer service and minimum wage jobs (No offence to those who still work at such, I've just had enough) and have decided to seek a higher ground. A college education. In fact, I'm sitting in the library of the Georgian College in Barrie, Ontario as I type, and sure am glad to be back in the learning atmosphere. I'm enrolled for a general business and co-op course. The co-ops themselves - two of them - are fully paid, and 90% of the time, at least one of them offers full time employment after the course is over. So in other words, my college course will most likely find my career for me, with a decent salary to boot. At that point, ~SuperPrincessAngela and I will buy a home and start really livin'. Seems like everything is going alright.

...but wait, there's more...

Speaking of family in general, everything is going fantastic as of late. For my own family... well, there was a huge problem going on for the last 8 months, which got progressively worse. I'll keep the details private, but it involved one big idiot, some unhealthy decisions, a biker gang, a potential sibling, the police, and a watermelon. It all culminated just last week, and had me doing a lot of extra driving around to help the problem, but it all turned out for the best. Now everyone is safe, no one is dead or injured, and the real troublemaker is behind bars. Now we're on the healing track, and everything is going well so far.

I am ailing and exasperated by the friggin' closet of a room I live in. There are five other men I have to share the kitchen and bathroom with. One of them just got evicted for arguing with other tenants and apparently stealing items. And now that he is gone, I am noticing items going missing from my own room - first some slightly valuable coins, then some food from my portion of the freezer. So I've decided that adequate is adequate, and told my landlord I am out. I found a "small" bachelor apartment ("small" is still about four times the size of my crappy room, including my own kitchen and bathroom) for $120 more than what I pay now. Definitely worth it. And if all goes well, I will be living there in a week.

...and to conclude...

You may be saying "This isn't Oprah, Pyro! You aren't on dA to blab on with your petty life! Get on with the artworks!" Well, I doubt anyone is saying that. You're all too kind. Most of you. BUT, now that many things are out of the way, I will have a little more time to work on art and related items - so long as school doesn't take up TOO much time. I do have a number of things to submit now, anyway. Not much for drawing, but that will come - I'm in school again, for the first time in four years. So obviously I'm going to start doodling again! On top of that, I am in the midst of updating ~TheKoopaClub, which some of my members have noticed. It isn't done yet, as there are at least 10 more submissions to go over, but I will have it done this week. And, I do plan to get more active on dA - I renewed my subscription, so I'm going to do weekly random polls, mostly about random Nintendo-related items that I and ~SuperPrincessAngela come up with.

Anyway, hope this was all fascinating. I need to head out pretty soon for "Mathematics of Finance" class - wish me luck. We'll keep in touch, dA. Remember back when I asked about submitting some music, and if you guys would listen to it? Well, I'm finally ready to do so, after a few delays. Most notably my artwork folder deleting itself. But, now I am ready! But, I think some explanation is in order.

I used to like making RPGs a lot. In fact, I'd like to get back into it. The reason I never completed any is due to the work. I tried making EVERYTHING myself - graphics, enemy pics, stats, and even the music.
Now, remember these guys?

Yeah, thos- Oh, you don't remember them? Oh... uh, OK. They were some characters I used to make a newspaper-style comic about. But, I also used them as the main characters of a modern RPG I was working on, much in the style of Earthbound. Vending machines used like stores, telephones for save points, "dungeons" inside of a high school, fancy hotel, factory, and so on. It was pretty interesting. Heck, I may work on it again some day.

For now, however, I did make several songs for this game, too. So, I'd like to submit some of them. Now you know what they were intended for!

So, to start, I'll submit three songs that were meant as the boss battle themes.

...just when you try to regain some faith in humanity, someone out there does something completely despicable.

During the last few weeks, Tim Hortons, whom I work for, has been raising money for 'Camp Day' - when they send underprivileged children off to camp, which their parents couldn't afford on their own. I know that last year's effort raised $9 million. And on one day - June 3rd - all the coffee profits go to this charity.

Why am I telling you this? No, not trying to raise money - in fact, I'd sooner see families provided with food, clothes and shelter than provide their kids with marshmallows to roast and insect bites. But anyway, aside from coffee profits (Or, 'Coffits' ), there is a large plexiglass box on the counter for people to freely make donations, complete with some poor, marshmallow-starved child on the cardboard backing. Now, these actually work, since the last time I checked there must have been close to $100 in there, and that's just my store.

Though, during my shift last night - at precisely 3:14 AM - my co-worker and I noticed something amiss. The cardboard backing was there, thrown aside, but the box and its shiny round contents was GONE. After some frantic looking around the store and surroundings, and a schadenfreude-tastic phone call to my boss at that hour, we determined that it was stolen, and within the last half hour or so.

So, 4 hours later we finally got to see the video. Sure enough, some 20-something, cap-wearing, goatee'd jerk creeps in, making sure to close the doors slowly and quietly, and swiftly moves in to unfasten the chain holding the box down. He did this so precisely, the guy must have been watching us from the shadows for quite some time. A lot of effort for that small amount.

With that in mind, I have to ask, who does this? I mean, it's one thing to rob the store itself - no sleep lost for the multi-billion-dollar corporation - but to grab a box, filled with money donated freely but dozens of individual, good-hearted people, which is meant as a charity for children...?
...wow.

Was he THAT desperate for his next drink/pack of smokes/PokÃ©mon cards/whatever he's addicted to? To sneak in, taking a risk, and steal less than $100 of donated money? Some people, I tell you. I hope they catch this guy. Frankly, I feel personally insulted that he pulled that crap. I was merely 30 feet away, around a corner making donuts, and my co-worker was preparing a mop to clean the floors - somehow, he kept so quiet, neither of us heard him. Too bad we have no bells on the doors or anything to indicate a new customer.

All it took was three minutes of not watching the front. Heck, I was so mad, after I saw the guy on the video, I really wanted to drive around the town looking for him. Stupid punk. Can't wait to see my regular customer's faces when I have to tell them where the box went. Just amazing, huh?

Time for your nerd update!

Well, before the meat of things, I know I've been not-so-active over the past few weeks, which is again due to life's business. ~SuperPrincessAngela and I bought a 2001 Pontiac Sunfire two weeks ago, and believe me, having our own car has opened up a world of benefits! Plus, we've already Mario-fied the dashboard. We'll take photos sometime.

Now, is every one of you Mario fans paying attention to E3? Nintendo's press conference??
Well, if not, allow me to be the one to spill the Beanish.

...and no, the new Punch-Out is not what I'm hyped about. It's just random CSS theme time again...

Mario was quite present at this year's E3, as the first announcement was for "New Super Mario Bros Wii", which is a new, 4-player 2/3-D Mario adventure in the same style as the NSMB for DS, but with Wii graphics and effects. Check out the video here.

Then they revealed the English version of Mario & Luigi RPG 3 - called Bowser's Inside Story. Not much new here.

There's also a sequel to Mario VS Donkey Kong 2, on Wiiware, dubbed "Minis March Again!". I've seen no info on it, though.

Lastly, and most importantly, is "the first time there's been a direct Mario sequel on a 3D system", Super Mario Galaxy 2! Yeah, it will have many of the elements and atmospheres of the original SMG, but there's plenty of new items worthy of making this a sequel. I mean... well, just look at the trailer. You just know you want to try this out! I know I do.

But, I also want to go to bed, since it is late afternoon. It's a night-shift thing. Anyone else as excited as I am for the overload of Mario at this year's E3??

Man I've been waiting so long for this! Getting this stupid 200th deviation out of the way. Now I can move on, and submit other things. Next up will be some music, then most likely some comics - both Koopacalypse Now and Super Nipper, perhaps the latter first.

I reminded myself just how much I hate colouring, especially with pencil crayon.
In my opinion, this 200th pic is kind of sad, and could have been much better. But, it showcases the fact that I should not get out of practise, or my skills dwindle a lot... so I'll try to draw more regularly.

Oh, and the new contest at ~TheKoopaClub has begun! I decided the theme should be to draw a Magikoopa. All the details are over there in the latest journal, if anyone is interested!

For now, well, I need to sleep. Very active over the past few days, and slept very little. So, song cue and goodnight!

tonight, for the first time in almost six months. I was afraid of how to fix it, especially after the subscription ran out. But now, it's not worth waiting, so I updated it and made the most of what is there.

_{Slowly, my job is eating my soul... sort of. I feel like it is getting close to a time to escape. I'm just... disgusted with the company, which I won't name this time. (Most of you know it anyway.)

We make a lot of food during the day - but, at 2:00-3:00 AM, when all the fresh stuff gets made for the morning rush, what happens to the food that is left? Sold at a discount? Given to homeless shelters? Donated to families? At least given to the poor, minimum wage employees? NO. It's ALL thrown out. In fact, it's considered "theft" if I take it or give it out. And it's not like it's always a small, overlookable amount of food. Here's last night's waste:

-54 Bagels, almost all still soft.
-91 various doughnuts.
-24 muffins.
-6 various breads.
-19 various biscuits.
-Plus some miscellaneous dessert-like pastries.

That.... that is enough food to feed a starving family for a week or more! And do you honestly think they'd care if it's past its 8 or 12-hour "expiration"? But no, no. All of it goes to waste simply to make room for all the fresh stuff - much of which will ALSO be thrown out the next night - for all these jerks who have cars - and are too lazy to get out of them to get their food, I might add - probably nice houses, decent jobs, etc.

And on top of that, these people have the audacity to say things like "What, there's no everything bagels? What the hell, that's what I wanted!" Wow... people starve, while mounds of this food gets tossed out, and you want your everything bagel. Why can't people see through all this!?

The coffee isn't much better... sure, I toss out several pots each night - untouched ones - just to keep that "always fresh" policy, but on top of that, the whole concept bothers me. Why do people waste so much money on this stuff? I did some math in my head at work last night, and figured that the cheapest you can possible buy our coffee is at 8.5 cents per ounce, and that's for a 20-ounce coffee. And what do I pay, per ounce, for my just-as-good instant coffee at home? 0.3 of a cent.

Or, work it out in total cost. I get approximately 150 20-ounce coffees from my one canister of instant. (Believe me, I did the math.) and that canister averages at $10 each. Now, if I bought 150 20-ounce coffees at my store.... it'd be $247.50. So why do people come in EVERY SINGLE DAY and buy the SAME THING EACH TIME. (I'm serious, we have people that come in EVERY day, often more than once.)

And THIS, my friends, is why I feel like I'm serving zombies all night. This is one of the many reasons it's hard to hold on to your "faith in humanity"... their actions aren't very inspiring.}

So... I decided to release this CSS... sort of. You'll all notice I just submitted it as a picture, but not with the downloadable CSS Code. This is because I think very few of you will actually use it - mostly because most don't have a subscription, and those who do most likely use their own themes.

But, if there are some people there who want to use it, few as you may be, I will send you all the necessary code and instructions. Just note me, and ask politely, and I'll set you up!

The only thing I won't release is the title graphic at the top, and the motherboard design and 5 custom buttons at the bottom. I made those for my own use, sorry.

So, if anyone is actually interested, let me know!

Also... I was planning on making a deviation this week with a sort of photographic "tour" of my new room, if anyone is interested in seeing that.

Other than that, life is good. Still spending the vast majority of my time with the lovely and beautiful ~SuperPrincessAngela, as you can see!

This would be us at the nearby Springwater Provincial Park. Nice place, complete with live wolves, raccoons, and turkeys! (And also a Canada goose that now has a vendetta against us, for no reason.)

Speaking of Soviet mind games, we've been playing a whole lot of Tetris lately. When we started, it was fairly new to Angela - now she seems to beat me most of the time! You'd think it'd be chastising, especially for a long-time fan of the game, but really, I just enjoy playing it over and over. And I'm very proud of her for being such a fast learner that she can go from beginning to pro in such a short time. Well, enough to beat me, anyway!

Hello all,

It'll still be some time before I can get all my artwork back and the folders together, but in the meantime, I'm inspired to work on some things now.

I'm creating new themes for my CSS, and now have four new ones since I lost my Artwork folder, this being the second one, from Metroid. That makes 10 themes altogether!

And there are two more, one based on Tetris, and the other on Zelda 2, the Adventure of Link. The question is, should I make this CSS public, so others can use it? Or is it best left alone? I know dA can get persnickety about using sprites in works, and I don't want this taken down. At all. So, what do you think, folks?

So... today was going pretty well. I felt good, no major upsets. Everything seemed like it was going to be fine.
Then, I scanned a new item and went to place it in my massive artwork folder only to discover something odd... IT'S GONE.
With no trace. I did hard drive searches and keywords and deleted files and whatnot... but no, it's completely gone. I haven't done anything with that folder in over two weeks, so there's no saying for sure when this occurred, or what happened. But somehow, the largest, most important, most organized folder on my computer just... got deleted. Completely.

Now all I have is a back-up CD. Which was made at the end of 2007. Meaning anything after that is GONE. I can resave most of it from here on dA, but anything I didn't submit is gone for good. Like the pictures used to make avatars and stamps. All of the Koopa Club submissions and contest pictures. Even all my CSS codes and pictures. I just spent some time rewriting the CSS main body code. (And in the process, felt inspired and created this new Super Mario Bros 2 pause screen theme! I want to make three more new themes, too.)

But anyway, this means a lot of sudden unexpected work for me to resave this stuff, and plenty of depression over all the things permanently lost. I put a LOT of work into that folder. I always hate losing things like this, it's like a big slap to the face.

So, regardless of a planned update to my gallery this week, I'll need a little more time. This is very frustrating.

Well, it's April 9th, and after a few weeks of Spring-like weather a few weeks ago, what are we hit with? A sudden, record breaking snowstorm. January called - they want their weather back. But seriously. what happened? How did we get buried in several inches of snow at the end of the first week in April? Plus, it was just after a record amount of rain, so the roads were just sheets of ice, and the snow ploughs and sanders were already put away for the season. So, inevitably, I fell backwards on my way home from work and injured the tendons in my right hand... but, it's doing much better now.

I'm also all moved in to my new room, with very little trouble. And already working on my next pic! Finally, there'll be an update!

...OK, I don't actually disbelieve in Global Warming. I know that someday you Florida residents will need SCUBA equipment to get to work!

So right now, I'm completely exhausted from carrying furniture around, and getting stuff ready to go, all while suffering brain freeze from a Coca-Cola "froster" that tastes as though the syrup went bad and fermented about a week ago.

Well, I'm delaying again, and this time I again have some good reasons.

I am moving in about a week, to save money. But, I am going from a full apartment to a furnished room, so I have to get rid of half the stuff I own.

At the same time, I am in the process of getting a better job. In fact, tonight is my second interview, so I'll let you guys know how it went later.

So, after these things are settled, I'll be back to updating. I have three WIP pictures to do right now, and plans for several more.

I have a lot of different 'series' going on now...
Koopacalypse Now, Unused Characters, Nintendo Sketchbook, and so on...
But, I'd like to add yet another.

See, most of you know that I also create music, since I've submitted two files so far. But, I have MANY more, so I want to submit them as well. But, due to dA's policies about submitting MP3s... well, I don't want to get into trouble.

So, my solution? I'm going to host my songs on my own site, and then submit preview images as the deviations, with a download link as the first part of the artist's comments. This is basically so I can get comments and hints from you guys about my music.

How do you guys like the idea, OK? Will you listen and comment, or should I bother?

Many of my songs are either Mario remixes, music for an RPG game I will most likely never make, or random songs that come to me.

Also, besides submitting music to my main gallery, I might submit lesser-quality or unfinished songs to my scraps.

So, what say you?

_{After the usual rush of people that come in to my popular coffee shop right around the time my shift begins, everything seemed to have calmed down again and i had time to get at my usual jobs. After a few minutes of work on the bagel station a customer appeared quite suddenly at the counter - somewhat of a shabby looking man, with shoulder-length, unkempt hair and a messy beard. I couldn't take his order right away, since he was on a cell phone, obviously having an argument. After almost 2 minutes he finally stopped and I could ask what he wanted.
"It'll be two large double-doubles, and my wife wants a tea... uh, medium with sugar." he said, then added, "and I'll give you one bit of advice..." I could tell that I was about to hear something really clever... right.
"Yes...?" I asked cautiously.
"...DON'T EVER GET MARRIED." He said, with a smirk. I frowned slightly, knowing it'd be something like this. He continued. "...that was my wife on the phone, b*tching away about wanting me to get back there. She's in the hospital now. Our granddaughter can't breathe. All I've heard is whinin' since it started! Save yourself the trouble, man - don't ever get married!"
"Too late, I'm engaged." I said dryly, hoping my sarcasm would tell him I didn't agree. But no, he went on.
"Just go up to her and say f*ck it! Tell her to get out, you'll be glad you did!" I didn't bother to respond to that. "...well, it's been nothing but trouble for me. I've had two marriages and my wife nags me all the time..."
"That doesn't prove there's anything wrong with marriage, only that there's something wrong with you." I said, even more dryly. He simply laughed, probably our of surprise that I was willing to talk to a customer that way.Eventually I handed him his drinks, and he just scoffed and walked out.}

Since I was just a kid, I was taught that marriage was very important. Especially since my own mother and father divorced when I was two. (So, it had very little affect on me. I didn't miss dad at all.) But, because of that, my mom and grandparents stressed the importance of marriage and commitment. I never went through that "girls are gross/have cooties" stage, but rather was already thinking of a future, with a wife and family. It's always been a sort of life goal - to meet and become enthralled and unwaveringly loyal to one woman, and that is all.

Of course, later on, I began to learn just how much most other men think differently than I. In high school I began to see how other guys commented on girls in a very sexual, disrespecting way. Some even mentioned methods or tricking them into bed, or getting a girl drunk. All of it disgusted me beyond belief. When I mentioned my life's goal - how I want to get married - I was laughed at several times. But I never gave it up. And this attitude hasn't changed; just before Angie and I got engaged, some guy at school told her that no guy will propose to her - because no man actually wants to do that. Well, proved him wrong.

I've seen those stupid t-shirt - referencing video games of all things - depicting two stick figures being married, with the male very unhappy, and "Game Over" written beneath. I was really bothered to see it. Is that really what most guys think? Like playing around with women is a game, and settling with one is ending it all? Losing your freedom as a man to oogle and temp other women? Aww.. what a shame.
...shamefully pathetic, anyway.

Even within my own world - in the religious background I was raised in. I had a youth pastor whom I looked up to. Except I noticed he was a huge fan of the James Bond movies - seemed he liked them for the different woman that was in each. But, one evening, while most of the youth group was at his house, watching a movie, he made a comment about some woman on the TV, right in front of his wife. She yelled his name out in anger, and he responds with:
"Hey, I'm just married, I'm not dead!"
Perhaps he ought to be.

Look, call me old fashioned, and call me a prude, but I am still of the mindset that each man should have only one wife, and be committed solely to her. No looking at other women, no staring at dirty magazines, (Those should not exist in the first place.) no commenting on women's body parts and why you like them. I've heard too many times that this stuff is "normal" for a man, even if he is married. To desire women in general. It's seen as safe and OK. In fact, some wives will put up with it.
...but none of that legitimizes it.

Salutation, Deviant Artians.

Not much from me for journals and articles yet, but my drawing ideas are coming back. I'm not quite ready to get back into making Koopacalypse Now pages, but I am going to do a short series in the mean time.

I notice I do several series in my gallery, like the current one of the "Nintendo Sketchbook". Well, this series, a somewhat short one, will be of "UC's". We all know that OC's are 'Original Characters', (Right?) so, UC's are 'Unused Characters'. See, over the last two decades I have come up with all sorts of characters for whatever purpose, then dropped them, never to be used again - until now. This will be a series of old characters of mine who have never seen the light of dA, and probably never will again. Just as a sort of tribute to them.

But, I need rest for now... kind of knackered my ankle up earlier today, and it's really sore... talk to you guys later.

Obviously, I'm trying to get back to drawing, since I've submitted a few new "Nintendo Sketchbook" entires. But, now I have even more reasons to be busy in the near future, so I can make no guarantees on my update consistency.

My beautiful fiancÃ©e, Angela, decided to start a new dA account to replace her old one. (The name LuigisLover was meant as a joke initially and doesn't fit too well.) She will likely be submitting more art eventually, too. So, her new account is aptly named ~SuperPrincessAngela. Not much new there yet, but have a look. Or a watch.

Ah, it's about time I put up something new.

That depressing journal with the depressing colours and depressing picture (But the bright and happy mood icon! Oh... wait.) was getting old. I've moved well beyond that.

Let me start by saying Christmas was fantastic and so was New Year's. Probably the best ones I've ever had yet. Actually spent Christmas day with a family rather than working like some previous years, had plenty great meals, and got some awesome gifts, too. I did have to work before and after the holiday, and work is annoying as ever, but that's alright.

But, there's something more significant than that. I know most of you know of my girlfriend here on dA, Angela. (Who is the main reasons I chose not to be online as often anymore.) Our relationship had been going splendidly up until the Christmas holiday - right up until the evening of Boxing Day, to be exact. But, since that moment, I can no longer call her my girlfriend...

Because we got engaged!
So, now I have a fiancÃ©e to spent the rest of the season, let alone the rest of our lives, with. This makes this the happiest, most exciting time of my life so far, and I can't wait to see how the future will go!

Also, I imagine some more work will start appearing on dA soon. Now that the mass confusion of the holidays is over with, I can concentrate on getting things done. One can only hope. At the moment, I cannot forecast the return of such staples as Koopacalypse Now, or any of my other projects - but, I should get back to it all soon. Not drawing like this is driving me nuts. So, expect some work soon.

Hello.

Lovely picture, isn't it?

Well, some of you may have noticed my considerable absence as of late. I've been doing next to nothing over the past few days and I'm tired of it. Just not sure when it will end. I just feel... sad, cold, and, basically depressed. Don't even feel like using one of my NES themes for this journal; dark grey will work fine.

The last three weeks have contained some of the most stressful, depressing changes my life has seen. One of which was actually prevented all this time over almost two decades, but it finally happened, and in the worst way, too. I won't say what it is, since it will take too long to explain. We'll just say it's a family thing - one that should have never happened but did, thanks to my closest relative's string of bad decisions. I feel partially responsible, and virtually powerless. And in truth, all I can do now is accept it.

Besides that, most of the other facets of life have only heaped on the stress. Work, my apartment, finances. Sure, this is the traditional time of year to be depressed and confused, so I suppose I'm just one of many. I just wish I could turn it around and feel happy again.

So, anyway, like a few weeks ago, I drew yet another depressing picture, this one even moreso. Another thing is that I want my old drawing style back, and the motivation to do so! Nothing feels right right now, and I have a lot to catch up on, both here on dA and at home, in real life. It'll take some time, and definitely some encouragement. It's hard to accomplish much when you're this down. That and my real-life friends and contacts become fewer all the time, so it'd be good to depend on some online friends as well.

I'd like to hear from you all, and hopefully that will help me get back up to speed and active again. Then I can stop sounding so emo and be myself again. It seems like it's been so long, too...

AHHHHHHHHHH, SMOKING.

Quite a controversial subject now, isn't it? A practise that has supposedly been around since 5000 BC, (Give or take a millennium.) and we're still arguing about it.

Well, from the recent poll I've put up, I see the vast majority of my watchers have not tried it, and decided not ever to. Great for all of you. I will admit, I myself am part of the minority of "Tried it once or twice, won't ever again." but we all make mistakes.

Now, sure, there's been plenty of rants about smoking, and the general harm it causes. I don't want this to be just another of those, so I'm relating it to a more personal side...

As most of you know, I work for a quite popular doughnut shop, well known throughout the wilds of Canada. Now, one of the final jobs of my shift - taking up the last hour, in fact - is to take out garbage, change all the recycling bins, and... clean the parking lot. And as much as I appreciate being outside for the last hour, it is still very discouraging to see it... cigarette butts, 100s of them, each and every day. On a weekend, I can fill my dust pan with them. And after one or two days off, there's only more of them. It's an endless cycle.

As I sweep, I get comments from customers. Sometimes positive, such as "It's people like you who keep us from being drowned in butts!" to something as arrogant as "Here's some more for you!" as they throw another of the filthy things out the car window and drive off. Had they stayed there, I'd want to shove my broom into their tar-stained faces.

Here's a good question - why aren't these people being charged with littering? I mean, sure, the butts are "biodegradable", but according to the Wikipedia article it can take as long as 10-15 years! Perhaps it is partially my store's fault for having no "Butt box" or whatever to put them in, but that isn't the point. Even if we did, I'd still be sweeping them up. And of course, they can be found in just about any parking lot or sidewalk, regardless of there being a place to put the butts or not. All they do is make the ground seem dirty, and harm the environment. They poison water supplies, hurt or kill animals that ingest them... they do NO GOOD. At all.

My biggest concern is, why are we still allowing this? Isn't it nothing more than outright stupidity? I - OK, perhaps this is harsh, but honestly - don't care if it is considered cultural, traditional, or even enjoyable - it is STILL stupid. It is something that not only harms the person doing it, but also those around them. It could be the epitome of selfish acts.

I've worked with plenty of people who smoke, and find many patterns. Most of them place great importance on their habit. They take much longer and more frequent breaks than non-smokers, spend company time purchasing cheap cigarettes from co-workers, and generally pollute the atmosphere with the disgusting aura of assorted poisons. Why is this tolerated? Why am I often seen as some kind of villain for complaining about it? Should I simply sit back and accept it all with "Hey, it's too bad I get taken advantage of by smokers for extra time and work, but at least my health is being harmed in the process!" Wait, what?

I've restrained myself so many times around smokers. I remember once, just after my province passed a law about how close smokers could be to the entrance to a public place, back when I worked at a department store. I got to work before the place opened, and the store manager, along with my own supervisor, where within a few feet from the doors, puffing away, because it was cold out. I came so close to ripping the paper tubes out of their faces, and then screaming into them. I had to breathe in their disgusting exhaled smoke just to get into work. It's too unfair - and frickin' illegal!

Am I being insensitive? I don't care. They break and bend laws, regularly get away with it, and it's we who do not smoke, and CARE about our health and that of others, that have to endure the frustration. And all I feel from those causing it is a sense of pure apathy. Seriously, if I even scoff quietly, I might get a speech about their rights, and I am not exaggerating, I've seen it.

No, I'm not posting any petition, not supporting a group or really trying to change anything. I'm just friggin' mad, that's all. I see something extremely stupid going on, and am sick of it. It's a real encouragement to see that most of you do not smoke. Hey everyone,

Man, I am pretty frustrated at the moment.

It's nice to finally have that big Super Mario Bros Avatar sets project thing done - I'm glad a couple of you are using them, anyway. I myself am going to be switching between them each day or so.

Work is just driving me nuts - this past weekend they had me work at a different store once again, since it was understaffed. I hate doing that, since no two stores runt he same way, and for some reason the employees there treat me like I'm stupid. I don't need that. I need a new job.

Next, my landlords, who live directly below me, have been trouble. They've been doing some renovating down there, regardless of knowing I sleep during the day. (After promising when I moved in that the house remains silent.) But today took the cake. The happy couple down there had an enormous argument at 7:00 AM this morning, involving yelling and throwing things. And hour later this was followed by excessive hammering and drilling, and even later, drilling on a wall between their part of the house and my stairs - they put a friggin' hole in the wall between our apartments! Great... I need a new job.

Speaking of happy couples, (Authentically this time, not sarcastically.) The lovely ~LuigisLover and I continue to grow closer, and it's quite possible we'll have some collaborative pieces or even a comic going on dA at some point.

Oh, and tying in with my journal entries, I'm going to start putting up polls, too. These may or may not have to do with the next journal entry. But, I'll appreciate your participation!

Hello everyone!

Well, it's been what... one month and one day since my last entry? Sad. I've been meaning to do more, but life keeps me from doing so a lot. I'm awfully busy with work, and especially with the lovely ~LuigisLover - though, she is quite supportive that I get back to work on my comic, and other art - and I intend to.

Yes, Koopacalypse Now will return in full force, I've just been waiting for something all this time - basically, a new website. In the meantime, I'll start up a new project to get me drawing again.

I realized that I am not only a Mario fan, but a big Nintendo fan as well - I like most of the usual franchises, and would like to draw more from them, too. So, I got a new sketchbook, and dubbed it my "Nintendo Sketchbook", and I plan to force myself to use it often.

So, it has two complete drawings now, and I'll put the cover design in my scraps. So, there should be plenty of random Nintendo artwork in the future.

Arrr har har!
Now, this be a journal I'd been dyin' to write!

There be many a holiday on our calender now, and celebrated by most people. (Now, how ye suppose the druids'd react if they knew their Winter Solstice would be taken over an' celebrated by millions today?)

But, it seems that most o' these holidays have some sort of background. A root, as it were, usually in a religion, (Or a combination thereof.) or a historical event. Arr, but this be a right lot boring at time, wouldn't ye say? Most of these holidays implement the fun, family side of it, but that's ne'er the point, is it?

Now, I not be sayin' we ought to forget the point of our beloved an' cherished holidays now just to concentrate on the fun side o' it, but...
I am implyin' that we could use more holidays that have their entire point in fun and jest.

OF course, holidays like that have no effect on the government, or whatever powers may be, nor do they effect one's earnin's at work. Most would say, and rightly so, that such a holiday would be pointless an' useless, and aye, they be understood.

But why not a few times throughout the year to let loose an' enjoy the foolishness of a pointless holiday, without the fright of the loomin' underlyin' significance. An' this is where, stupid, pointless, childless, and worry-free fun days, like today, come in.

Sure, it be frowned upon by th' landlubbers and nay-sayers out there, that don't want their serious, well-planned and formal day disrupted by a bunch o' hoodlums an' scalawags who sport the Jolly Roger for a day an' make oh-so-gratuitous use of the Four A's of Pirate Lingo.

So, if ye sport a sense o' humour, and don't mind looking like a fool for a day (But only to the landlubbers who don't matter anyway...) then come aboard and enjoy the festivities while they last. An' we'll just hope for more great an' utterly pointless holidays like this one!

Oh, this has not been an easy week. I've been... somewhat sick most of the week, with some generalized sinus-viral-something-itis. It made work pretty difficult, as if it weren't on its own. Everyone at work has been on edge lately, and I myself feel like I'm in the middle of something nasty that may end soon - exactly what, I don't know. I'm also looking into a possible career opportunity in the coming weeks, but I've been quite worried about it, and it's plaguing my mind. And finally, there's a mouse in my apartment. Little bugger ran across my feet the other morning, and I've been watching for him since...

But, to top it all off, I got up yesterday - about 18 hours ago, since I work at night - to notice that my eye is quite sore and itchy. It's bloodshot, but that isn't too abnormal for me when getting up. It's just NOW that I'm growing concerned, since the soreness carried on all night. So, I check in the mirror to see...

My perfectly healthy right eye. Nothing to worry about there, nothing to fret over. The sclera is fairly clear, and the off-grey white it ought to be. Retina is the usual light blue. No lumps, bumps, lines, veins, nothing to fret over, right?

Sweet Tree of Deku, what is this!? It's like... Dr.Jekyll and Mr.H-eyed! It's red and sore and itchy and looks downright evil! It looks like I've been struck with...
CONJUNCTIVITIS!

Also commonly known as Pink Eye, hence my disturbingly nerdy title for this journal. So, this bothersome eyesore has been bugging me all bleeding morning. It's like... you know that feeling, when you get an eyelash stuck in your eye, and it stings and bugs you until you get it out? Imagine having that for 15 hours straight. Well, that's CONJUNCTIVITIS for you.

I even made a make-shift eye patch out of wax paper and napkins at work, with a pocket to insert ice to cool my aching eyeball. (Yeah, I wore an eye patch a whole four days early.) But, I had to do something to cover my hideous CONJUNCTIVITIS!

I'm just hoping this thing has the common courtesy to go away on its own, and very soon!

And, just for grammatical correctness and for the sake of nostalgic educational programs...

Finally.

I wasted a lot of time getting this set up, didn't I? Well, I'm starting up with writing, and yes, the new journal articles will include occasional comics, known as "E-Journal Punishment". Corny? Nerdy? I think it's clever. Well, if anyone really likes the comics, I'll be putting them in my scraps, too.

So, moving on...

I simply had to mention my job in this introductory entry. I mean, it takes up 45+ hours of my week, and is an endless source of frustration. Today in particular it got to me, and I was in quite a "bitter mood" during the last hour, as my assistant manager stated it. Serving the public all night long can get so tedious. It was when she asked what my problem was that I came up with this golden tidbit:

"You know, the only reason that businesses like us are successful, or even stay in business for that matter, is due directly to the laziness, selfishness, and foolishness of society in general. So many times during my shift I am doing an important job, only to be interrupted by some twit that wants a single cup of coffee. A large double-double most of the time, the most common order of all. And to think, they waste the gas, time, and $1.45 just for 12 ounces of coffee. Do you know what one cup of coffee at home costs me? About seven cents.

So think about this. If it weren't for people being too lazy and tired in the morning to make their own coffee, and selfish enough to desire the drink anyway - making them willing to pay 10 times what the drink is actually worth - they wouldn't need places like this. Imagine if everyone wised up all at once, and realized it was cheaper and more satisfying to stick to their own refreshments at home. Restaurants would be out of business! So seriously, we DEPEND on the laziness, selfishness, and foolishness of people.

I'm not trying to say that all people should be cheap, but think about it. If every person in our country gave up coffee for one year, and gave all the money they WOULD spend on it toward something like solving world hunger, or finding a cure for cancer. We could accomplish so much if we stopped concentrating on ourselves and doing things the easy way!"

Yeah, I said all that. Well, more or less. All I got for a response was "My, you're really bitter today." It was like a sarcastic way of saying "Yeah, this is how reality works, get used to it. There's no problem here, except for you."

So, maybe I am nit-picking and over-analyzing the whole thing, but I'll have some better examples of just how bad it gets in later entries. Seriously... when did we allow ourselves to come to this?

Hi everyone!

Just setting up a new journal here to try out my new CSS and see how it looks in an actual journal. Read on...

So, in a normal journal, I'll only be using one of these themes for the whole entry; not several. And this is the Donkey Kong theme - one of the more complicated ones...

A quick and easy Zelda theme - using that black status box at the top meant no merging the picture with the background, like I usually had to do...

...and here's the Castlevania theme!

Well, not really.

Ok, so now, down to business.

Part of the reason I made a new journal layout is that I want to try something different. You see, I used to blog a lot, a few years ago, and I sort of miss it. But, one thing that kept me from blogging often enough was that I didn't get many comments or discussions going. So, I decided I could try doing my blog here, on Deviant Art instead!

But, instead of a personal journal-type blog, I am going to write "articles". These articles could be about anything I want. One day it could be Mario or Nintendo related, another it could be something that's happened to me, and yet another could be about some world issue. Or some new brand of ramen I like. Who knows? It all depends on how I feel that day.

So what do you guys think? Would you like to read my articles and such?

And to end it all off, here's the Duck Hunt theme, with your faithful companion at the bottom, holding up your prize. I didn't use the sprite of him laughing because... hey, that's too overdone.

Well, seems like it's been freaking forever since I updated anything on my dA page... sad, really. Sorry, everyone, for not commenting on deviations and journals.

So, I plan on having four deviations ready for this weekend... the reasons I've been away so much is one: work, being more present and persistent than ever, and two: a very significant and awesome change to my life, which will be revealed over time.

So, my check list of things to finish this week...

1. Kiriban for ~Luigi-Mario, which I owe from about a month ago...

2. Kiriban for *Artemendo, for my 25,000 pageview recently.

3. A picture that will explain a little about why I'm not online as often anymore... also, as a gift to a certain someone...

And, my largest project,
4. A new, hand-pixelled journal CSS theme, which I have put a lot of work into so far, and I hope some people like it.

So, expect some updates by the end of this week from me, guys! Sorry about delaying so long...

I'm moved into my new place, except that the phone company messed up my Internet entirely. Only a day after moving my Internet to the new phone line, some idiot places the move order a second time and sends it off my line! So, now I have to wait 3-4 freaking days to get my Internet back!! Aurgh!!

So, you won't be seeing anything from me for a while... *sigh*. I'm in the public library, using their computers - complete with a time limit.

Also, my toilet is now in my living room, as the plumbing in the house needs serious work.

Isn't life wonderful?

I've not been as active as I'd like to be on dA lately... but I have way too much bogging me down at the moment... here's the rundown.

I'm moving out - a week from today, in fact. I found a new apartment in a quiet area closer to my job. But, I think the stress and planning related to moving is really weighing on my mind this time. It'll be fine once I get in there and settle down, but for now, I'm looking at a trepidatious week...

Secondly, Koopacalypse Now. I've been trying to keep up with it, but the comic will have to wait for a while. Perhaps a two-week hiatus. You see, the comic's website is in for a huge update in a couple of weeks. Very huge. Then I'll be working on it wore. Until then, it'll just have to wait...

Of course, all this, coupled with a night job, means I've barely been sleeping as much as I'm used to. That'd be why I'm moving out.

Anyway, until after all this is resolved, there won't be much from me in the way of submissions, comments, and replies... sorry!

This weekend went... rough. I intended to get more catch-up done, both with my comic and the Koopa Club, but fate would not allow.

Three hours after returning from work on Saturday morning I was awakened by intense pain, and... spewed about a cup of stomach acid. Fun, yay! And whatever illness caused it, it continued up until just now in the form of wicked, evil migraines.

Do you have any idea just how frustrating that is? Staying home from work, suddenly being given 10+ hours of free time to complete things, but feeling much too sick to do anything but lie around? Aurg, I hate that!

Oh, yes... mom just reminded me with a comment. It's my birthday on Tuesday - I keep forgetting about that. I suppose once you hit around two dozen of them, you start to not care as much. I got the day off, anyway, so I hope it'll be some time to finish some more work - and that I won't be attacked by sudden migraines again...

And it's about time I have my own CSS back! Though, I might make some changes to it soon...

(The title sounds a bit like a rapper's name...)

I realize that I've done very little activity as far as dA goes over the last week.

It's this new job - it's draining me. I mean, this morning marked exactly one week since I took the job, and I've clocked in 60 hours already. 60! That is not normal for your first week at work! And I don't have any time off until Saturday morning, when I get home at 8 am. So, I hope to do some dA catching up around then. I have a pile of deviations to comment on and messages to reply to...

I was so happy to get this job, but now it's causing nothing but trouble. I could list off what all has happened there so far, but I've already abused this journal in the past to moan about work. Let's just say I'm awfully tempted to stop by my old workplace tomorrow morning and try to get my old job back - it wasn't half as bad as this.

Now I have to go - got to be at work in an hour for another 9-hour shift. Hopefully I'll get caught up with everything over the weekend...

Yesterday, I finally landed a job interview...

Today, I got the job!

What job, you may ask?

Well, it's at a well-established little doughnut shop know as Tim Hortons, which, as any of my Canadian watchers (Both of you...) will confirm, it's just a slight step above "I work at McDonalds"...

Well, actually, it's not that bad.
It'll be full time, with benefits - working nights. That is, 11:00 pm until 7:30 am, or thereabouts...

Anyway, the fact that I'm finally employed again has lifted my month-long semi-depression, and I should get back to regular drawing and comic-ing quite soon!

Plus, I've been making more avatars lately, and I was about to submit a new one, when I realized that my next deviation is #150! So, I should do something eckstrah speschul for that! Which... may take a while. But, oh well - it's #150! It ought to take a while! Right..?

Well, I know that many of you, my watchers, are also watchers of *Artemendo. As such, you're aware that he posted a journal linking to some magnificent songs he'd created. Well, after seeing the reception he got, it gave me the idea to do the same, since I, too, write music.

In fact, it was Artemendo who had gotten me back into it, by providing a means to write songs, after about two years without writing any myself.

Anyway, here are five songs that I've done over the past few months - most of them are themes written for my comic, Koopacalypse Now - yes, we plan to make a whole soundtrack for the comic, mostly done by Artemendo himself, since he is fantastic at it. But I'll be doing a few themes here and there.

Anyway, on we go. We'll start with the only non-comic one:

i) "Thank You, Mario".

This song was sort of created in my head while working, over a few weeks time. I'd planned it to be much longer, and include three more songs. I may expand it some day.

ii) "Volt's Theme".

Volt is the Waddle Doo character you see in my gallery here and there, though he hasn't shown up in the comic yet. His theme is a remix of some level music from Kirby Super Star, with some obvious Mario music cameos!

iii) "Von Femur Suite".

A tune I wrote as a theme fro Baron Von Femur, though it came out longer and a little more complicated than planned, so I dubbed it a 'suite'. Yeah, castle music from SMW, SMW2:YI, and NSMB, plus the airship. Cah-razy.

iv) "Aloysius' Theme".

I actually finished writing this one about 30 minutes ago as I write this. I think it fits Aloysius' character pretty well: kind and pleasant, yet mysterious and magical...

v) "Shyloh: Dream Factory".

In *Artemendo's music journal, you can find his theme for my Shy Guy character, Shyloh. (Also not in the comic yet...) I did a remix of Artemendo's tune to fit an industrial feel, for a scene later in the comic...

Anyway, hope you guys enjoy these tunes, and I'm open to any comments or suggestions.

Well, I just wanted to show those off to you guys.
So, I got thinking...
Does anyone think that I should make a Koopacalypse Now fan art listing journal type thing? The newest one by Atticus makes 23. (I don't mean this to brag, really - I'm astounded that I got any at all!)

If so, I'll get to work on it, and compile links to all the pics thus far - as long as everyone who's done any art of Kleo or other KN characters doesn't mind this!

By some strange, inter-dimensional twist of fate, three unrelated beings were teleported into the same room. They were Pyro-Sith, from the planet earth; Kleo, from the planet Plit; and Super Nipper, from an alternate version of earth. After some shocked reactions, panics, and fervent arguing, they found a mysterious interviewer, and chairs to sit in. So, what better thing to do than to comply? So, on with the interview!

1. In the online world, who and what are you?

Pyro: "Well, I'm a human, albeit a really cartoony one. I have no nose, for instance..."

Kleo: "I'm a Paratroopa. Like a turtle, but with wings."
Pyro: "But, the shell comes off, doesn't it? Wouldn't that make you a lizard?"
Kleo: "Uh, lizards don't have beaks. Turtles do."
Pyro: "But still, it... oh, whatever."

S'Nip: "I'm a purebred Highland Terrier! And a hero - not only to the town named after me, but the whole world! Yup, they all know me-"
Kleo: "Gee, should we bow to you now, or..?"
S'Nip: "..." *Turns a little red*.

2. Who is your favorite video game character?

Pyro: "I guess I'll say Mario, since he's the star of most of the games I play. Though I like minor ones like Waluigi and Dry Bones... or if you count species: Koopas."

Kleo: "Right on! Koopas rock. As for me, I guess King Bowser, or Kamek. Those guys are cool. Well... Bowser's a little dumb, and Kamek's kinda weird... but they're cool!

S'Nip: "Well... my wife plays more games than I do, but we both like the shoot 'em up ones. She likes one with this Gordon Freeman guy as the main character - he seems pretty cool. Weird name though, 'Gordon'..."
Kleo: "I'll say! Who names their kid 'Gordon'..?
Pyro: "Uh, yeah... it is a... weird name..."

3. What is your favorite game type?

Pyro: "Platform and adventure games first, like all the original Super Mario games. Then some RPGs, and some puzzle games."

Kleo: "Racing, fighters, and a little of the 'sim' stuff. But, I play all sorts of games besides those..."

S'Nip: "As I said, first person shooters! And some racing ones. I like the two-player stuff so I can play them with Greylyn - but she usually beats me. So competitive..."

4. What is your favorite TV show(s) right now?

Pyro: "Uh, actually, I gave up TV a few years ago, but on the rare occasion that I have to watch, I like City Confidential. Mystery stuff rocks. And most stuff on the Discovery Channel is cool."

Kleo: "I like movies - epic and violent stuff. Also, I love documentaries on old Koopa war victories - those're awesome!"

S'Nip: "Ooo! I like to see news report about me, and how I saved the world, or beat up some villain that day, or-"
*Pyro & Kleo stare at him...*
S'Nip: "Uhh... I like sit-coms, too..."

5. What is your favorite video game(s) right now?

Pyro: "Currently, my favourite is Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door, but my all-time is probably still Super Mario Bros.3. So many memories!" *sniff*

Kleo: "Koopa Kart DS, or any of the other Koopa Kart games when at home. Also, the Mortal Koopbat games were pretty cool. And I play Koopa Krossing a lot, too."
Pyro: "Are you... making those up?"
Kleo: "What? No! Those are real games! By DLAGMEBA!
Pyro: "...hu? Dlagmeba? ...what??"
Kleo: "Dark Land Alternative Games Made Especially for Bowser's Army! What, you never heard of it?"
Pyro: "....."

S'Nip: "Uh, probably Goldeneye, and Mario Kart 64, and that Quarter Lives one Greylyn likes."
Pyro: "You mean Half-Life?"
S'Nip: "Whatever it is. Look, I don't need corrections from you, goth boy!"
Pyro: "Geez, sorry!"

6. Do you guys go on Nintendo Wi-Fi?

Pyro: "Now and then I do, for a Wi-Fi Mario Kart DS match..."

Kleo: "Whenever I can! I love racing, and destroying other's towns - er, I mean visiting other's towns in Koopa Krossing!"

S'Nip: "Uhhhhhhh no. All we have is the N64, and a PS2..."
Pyro: "Wait, what? One of my characters has a PS2? This is madness! This is blasphemy!"
S'Nip: "This is stupid. Calm down, little buddy..."

As most of you know, I injured my back at work a while ago. (Two weeks ago today, in fact.) But, turns out it was worse than I thought. The doctor "highly suspects" that I have a crack in my tail bone. Great stuff. So, as such, it may take "between two weeks and over a month to heal."

So, I figured, regardless of a doctor's note, my boss did not wish to co-operate. First off, she had me doing dishes, which only caused more pain. Then, yesterday, she wanted me to close the restaurant - which includes turning every chair upside-down on the tables. She really didn't want to comply with the doctor's orders, and was very rude to me about the whole thing...

So I quit.

Well, I did so politely. I came in early for my next shift, went straight to the store managers, and wrote them a proper resignation notice. Though, due to injury, I basically gave them two hours' notice rather than two weeks. They were quite good about it all. I got a hug from both, then was told to "slip out and avoid the restaurant". So, I didn't see my boss that day, nor have I since. So, I'm sure I'll get an earful of hate from her when I go to return my uniforms. But so what? She has no power over me anymore.

So, I'm giving myself two weeks off to heal, then going for a new job, probably as a tech support agent for a cell phone company.

In the meantime, I'll have more time to work on art! My comic should be coming up soon, and I have a few requests to do.

For one, both Slade and GeoPyro tagged me for the Super Mario Meme, so I'm working on it now. Just like GeoPyro's,mine will have a small pencil drawing for each question - all 12. I have 6 done so far.

Also, I've got to do a request for Fairy-Red-Hime had a request as well, which I will work on next.

So, expect to see a number of things from me in these next few weeks. I have a lot of idea floating around in my head right now...

I'm glad it's over for another year. Putting up with family I see but two or three times annually, only to discover that they're the same insulting, rude people who tell flatulence jokes at the Christmas dinner or comment on who's fatter than who. Gotta love the family.

And there I am, in my black trench coat and suit - with a festive plaid tie to appease them - just trying to enjoy the meal. I believe our hosts - my rich uncle who's not been in contact with us in over a decade - kinda regrets having his parents and siblings over: Here we are in an elegant dinning room, with beautiful china, a crystal chandelier, and gold-inlaid silver utensils... and a bunch of rednecks sitting around belching and telling stupid jokes. Gotta love the family.

The best things I got out of the day was a pile of expensive mixed nuts and a fairly intense game of chess with my uncle. Though I had a few others, who have no clue how to play the game, come and criticize my moves! (What do they know? I won!) Gotta love the family.

All in all - call me a humbug, or whatever you like, but - I'm just glad to be back home, with my tea and sketchpad, where it's nice and quiet.

...

...oh, alright - hope everything went well for everyone here! Sorry, but the ceremonial side of Christmas has been losing its grandeur for me each year... so, happy Christmakwanaka to everyone!

First off - yay me - I got over 10,000 pageviews. I had planned on doing a drawing for this, but I just didn't get around to it... and now it's a little late. Ah well, I'll do one for 15,000.

So, today's been an interesting work day. Let me tell you, people are generally miserable around the holidays - and our area is under a severe storm warning now, which doesn't help. I had a lot of trouble with customers today - especially one woman in particular, who claimed that I gave her the wrong item. (I served her precisely what she ordered, I assure you.) As a ran her through our cash register, she demanded a copy of the receipt - which used up my receipt paper. Now, here's the big insult: she tore her receipt in half in front of me and dropped it on the counter, then made a face and walked away. Wow. What is wrong with people?

But wait, there's more! Ironically, to add injury to insult. After this, the woman and the others from her table stood around the entrance o our restaurant, letting their coats and boots leave water all over the floor. I had to push by them to run and get some receipt paper. On my way back, they were still blocking the area, so I had to squeeze by, walking over the puddle they had left. I slipped and both twisted my back in mid-air and landed on my hip. And I actually saw the woman look down at me, make a scoffing face, then walk away without so much as a "sorry" or "are you all right?"

Well, she may have inavertedly given me a 40 hour vacation, since I'll probably have to call in tomorrow for back pain. What a day, though... ugh.

Now, hopefully I'll have some time to work on my comic! I'll be starting the first couple of pages of Koopacalypse Now's chapter 1-1. And hopefully, after the holidays, the comic will be more on-track!

Anyway, if anyone wonders why I haven't been updating - well, it's been a very strenuous work week...

But, I'm currently working on the title page for Koopacalypse Now - and it's about 60-70% done, including colour. I just want it to look decent, so I'm taking some time.

Now, hopefully work will lay off with the long hours soon so I can get back into updating more regularly...

So, I figured the end of this week would be good - I have the entire weekend off, then not much work next week - plenty of time to do art, right?

Wrong.

Our head cook at work who does full-time ours just happens to be a 60-year old woman. Coincidentally, a 60-year-old woman just recently had a heart attack at her workplace. Well, alright, it was no coincidence.

She's perfectly fine, I assure you. In fact, a little too fine. All sympathy aside, this employee has been looking for excuses to get time off for a while now, so some of us doubt the authenticity of said heart attack...

Nonetheless, what it comes down to is that someone had to take all her hours for the next week. That someone ended up being me. Now I have to be at work at 7 AM, and am doing full time hours this week.

So, I can imagine my art may suffer.

So, just in case I seem to be not online as much as usual, you'll all know why...

So, Super Mario Galaxy will be in my grubby clutches in one week and one day.

And Nintendo, in all their predictability, did exactly what I though they would. (Though that knowledge didn't stop me from yelling "yes, alright!" and scaring my neighbour...)

They released Super Mario Bros 3 on Virtual Console today! And I would download it RIGHT NOW if it weren't for the fact that I have to leave for work in 20 minutes... (4-8? What a dumb shift)

So, Virtual Console and NES owners unite with me - let's play some Mario 3!!!

So, again, this is the costume I wore all day at work in Halloween: [link]

Yeah, pretty bloody creepy. And definitely not the best one there, I'd say. I didn't actually wear that dark dress shirt under the vest, but rather my ugly green work shirt. (Bleck...)

There were actually about 25 employees who dressed up. One girl put on her actual wedding dress with wings added on the back. Another had those miniature cereal boxes glued all over a white shirt, with plastic knives stabbed in them and fake blood dripping down - a "cereal killer". Also, there were some cats, a few cow boys/girls, and some other "generic undeads" like myself. I would say that my costume - me being the only one stupid enough to wear my work uniform under it - was around the lower end of the creativity spectrum - especially with a "cereal killer" involved.

So, imagine my surprise today when I discovered that I won 1st place...

Now I have my picture on the wall, a nifty fake award, and most importantly, a $25 gift card to spend as gratuitously as I please! Happy Halloween indeed!

And the cereal killer got third place... I still think hers was better than mine...
