seriously consider experimenting in egg tempera, it's supremely cool. You work it like glazing, but the egg emulsion doesn't glare like an acrylic gel does. You get the vibrancy and glow of glazing, but not the shine it's fantastic. A very natural and interesting medium to work in, try it out.

So TA DA here's a glazing study or two and also my midterm project

It's meant to be looked at as a triptych but for some reason Machine 3 looks very appropriate alone. This coming term we're expanding on our ideas for the midterm project, so I'm re-creating Machine 3 on a larger canvas, perhaps 4X6 feet. I'm also going to incorporate more glazing-like techniques, I think I went much too opaque in these first paintings. Unsure of my colours, I might stick to rusty browns and dirty the machine up a bit. Change from the toy-like theme here into something a bit darker.

Let me know your thoughts?

I looked over all my work from last year (Grade 12 Art, why did you steal my soul) and I have decided that none of it is worthy.
Well, I placed one drawing in scraps. I did that outside school hours.

This is where I publicly renounce my high school art teacher as a flabby, uneducated, sexist and racist bit of goods.

This isn't me being spiteful by the way, I fooled around with 80's and 90's in her class.
Because I was Caucasian and a girl.

I am majoring in Studio Art in the coming fall, I've decided it's what I want to do. So what if I started out looking into a degree in microbiology... (thank god I have understanding parents is all I have to say.)
Taking a real art class and actually learning about art has, to use a colloquial phrase, BLOWN MY MIND. I had no idea there was so much to learn and experience, and I want it all.

I will eventually put up my studies from my first year painting class. Boring, but it's all I have right now. Well, not right now...or else they would be up, wouldn't they? My professor hasn't quite finished with them I suppose.
