Bought lots of stuff, dressed up each day, met some new friends. The biggest news from me is that I won 2nd Place in the Craftsman/Master division of the Hall Cosplay Contest with my Diva costume! I entered is as a Journeyman!!! I had to win like 2 more awards to be bumped up to Craftsman but the liked what I did so much that I was moved up! That in itself was a great honor.

I miss the con already and I can't wait until next year. But at least now I can relax for the rest of the summer and not spend August sewing. :)

Again I had a wonderful time at Otakon. Rick, Mikhala and her friend Danny and I parked our butts at the Sheraton (great move) and spent 3 days at the most awesome anime convention on this side of the country. Here's a short run down of what we did.

Friday:
Spent most of the day taking pictures of other cosplayers. So many wonderful costumes. We watched a panel on Dub Acting's Leading Ladies. Spent lots of time in the dealers room and spent time at our favorite resturaunt Luna Del Sea where both the owner and another staff member remebered us from last year! That was so cool! AND they bought us a round of drinks. Really nice place. Food is great but don't go there if you are on a budget.

Saturday:

This was cosplay day. I dressed as Ryuk, Mikhala dressed as Misa and Daney dressed as L. We were MOBBED for photos! We felt like a celebritys! We couldn't walk five feet with out being stopped asked for a picture... It was great! We were't able to do much that day cause of all the pictures but after I went in for my costume judgng we went to the Otakon Photosuite and then to a Death Note shoot.

After lunch Mikhala and Daney went off to the Dealers room while Rick and I took naps. Later that evening we went to the Masquerade. It was...ok. It was too long and most of the skits weren't very entertaining. But there were a few that were definately worth looking up on Youtube.

Holy cow, the awards ceremony made me a wreck. They read of the awards for my class and I wasn't in that group. Later they gave away awards for best of Friday and best of Saturday...nothing. But then they gave out the award for Best of Weekend. They described the contestant as having a beautiful costume...but sometimes dark is beautiful. And then...the best thing happened...

I won BEST IN WEEKEND for my Ryuk costume!!! AHHH!!!

I can't freaking believe it! I was so happy. I screamed like an idiot when I heard my name! I went out on stage and got my certificate, thanked the judges and did the Ryuk Apple Crack Dance with my certificate.

It was a good night.

Sunday:

Mostly packed up. I picked up my prizes from the Costume Contest. Picked up my pictures from the photo booth and ended the day with the dealers room yet again where Mikhala bought me a Kitana for my birthday.


So yeah... I had a great time.

Now I'm going to go back to sleep.

Like I said in the title...I'm not dead. But Queen:toast: feels more like :pooptoast: right now, so I haven't been updating much.

My grandpa is finally on his way out off of this planet, which makes me happy and sad all at the same time. He's been suffering from Parkinsn's and Alzheimer's for the last 2 years now and is nearing the end. It's just not fun watching some one who was so vibrant be reduced to laying in bed all day with no recallection of who or what is around you. I feel worse for my grandma though. She takes care of him (with the help of a hospice service) and it's not easy. It's not having to take care of him that makes me feel sorry for her. I'd do that for my spouse to be without question. It's that she has had to watch him slip away, little by little, for all of these years. That has to hurt.

The next crappy thing on my list is this: Rick (my fiance) lost his job back in March. He was let go for some very fishy reasons (which I won't take all of your time explaining) and now we're down in income $800/month. He's been sending out resumes but Graphic Design positions are scarce in the Harrisburg area.

Lastly....WE WERE ANALLY RAPED BY THE IRS THIS YEAR!! :analprobe:
Between my frelance work and his former job screwing up his W-2's, we paid in over $1000 this year. So here Washington, take it, I'm sure that you'll put it to good use. :eatshit:

So that's why I haven't been around much. To much BS for this chicken to get all interested in posting stuff.

Now it hasn't been all bad. I did get to try on Wedding gowns last month which was awesome! I changed my mind about making one. Too much work.

Also, my last show for the season will be over this Sunday so I will have time to do fun stuff again.

So yeah,l that's what's going on.

My rat Gordon has been suffering from a genetic disorder which causes chronic respiratory problems. He had been on and off of antibiotics for the past 6 months. Last night Rick and I came home to find him in his cage looking very weak. I picked him up and laid him on my chest to comfort him…shortly after which he passed away in my arms. Gordon was a theater rat. He starred as "Gordon" the rat in the play "The Little Girl who Lived Down the Lane." He was a real ham, catching the audiences attention by standing up in his cage while serious moments in the play were going on. He even had a stunt double. Gordon was a really sweet rat with a distinct personality all of his own and we will miss him very much.

The Video Game Expo 2006 is taking place in Philadelphia on Halloween Weekend! My boyfreind and I are SO there! It looks like tons of fun. Tons of vendors, games to play...PRE RELEASED games to play! AND a COSPLAY contest! I'm going to debut Ashelin there. EEEEEEEEEEEEK! I can't friggin wait! So running out of time though. I'm almost done but I've got a show to design and get completed BEFORE I can finish my costume!

Yes, we go into tech week this Saturday and I'll be working pretty much without a break till October 1st. I invite you all to come and see the show and watch me franticaly try to controll 25 body mics without going insane...however I'm pretty sure all of you live WAY outside of Harrisburg Pennsylvania so nevermind. In other news Fall is coming to PA and I hate it. Soon all of my flowers will be dead and I'll have to wear sweaters. BUT fall=Halloween=my cosplay will be done. I just got the protoplast that I will form into my armor and other important pieces of my costume like the toecaps of my boots and belt buckles and the like.

Speaking of boots...As soon as I get time to play with the protoplast, I will able to make the toecaps and my boots will be DONE! I am SO happy with the way that they have turned out so far. Best part is, I'll be able to use them for the Jak2/3 version of her costume whenever I get arround to that. Anyway, I will post them as soon as they are finished.

Well, it was a really relaxing trip to the beach, but now it's over...till next year!
For those of you who don't like reading long journal entries (I'm one of em.) I'll save the trip description for the end. The short of it = I got tan, relaxed and miss it already.

Anyway. Man you guys put up some great art while I was away. Fortunately there were like 8 wireless networks close to our house that I could tap into and could at least look at it while I was on vacation.

AND...holy cow. I went from 500 pageviews to 680 in one week! "You like me...you really really like me." I'm just glad my work is finaly getting "out there" so to speak.

Well now that I'm home I can work on my costume a little more. OH! I got my ears when I was away. They should work out well. I will say something for Aradini studios though...they charge too much for the product that you get. The one ear is more flimsy than the other and was folded in half when I recieved it leaving a crease. I'll be able to strenthen them and they will look great in the end, but I won't be buying them again. I think when this pair wears out I'll be making mine from scratch. On the good side though, it was a great birthday present (Thanks boyfriend!) and when they are actually attached to my ears they will look really cool.

MY VACATION TO FENWICK ISLAND DELAWARE

So, last Saturday me, my boyfriend and our friend Fish...yes that is his nickname...left for a 3 hour drive to Fenwick Island, DE. It's a quiet little town right on the border of Ocean City Maryland. We had a nice apartment that was within 20 feet of the beach access so we were able to go to the beach pretty much when we felt like it....which was pretty much all the time.

I tried something new this time out...I tried skim boarding. I LOVE EEET! Now the first time I tried it was hilarious to watch. I fell SO many times (I have the scrapes and bruises to prove it...and the pictures...stay tuned) and my body hurt for the first 3 days of my vacation, but I got better at it and now wish that global warming would take hold and move the ocean to central PA so I can skim board whenever I want to.

We went to Secrets twice. Secrets is the most amazing bar/nightclub/floating paradise etc. You go there and you are instantly in Jamaica. They import 28 truckloads of palm trees every year and plant them all over this GIGANTIC "bar." I use quotes over the "bar" cause there are like 12 of them on the premisis AND a floating one so you can lounge in the bay on big floating rafts and be served without getting up. I have pictures. I'll make a collage and get them up eventually.

Me and Fish ended the vacation with a bang...or "sling." At the pier on the OC boardwalk there was a human slingshot ride. For $20 bucks a person you were put in twos into this round steel cage and sling shot into the air at 100 miles per hour reaching 5 G's in 1.5 seconds. IT WAS AWESOME!!!!!!!! :omfg: It has ruined all rollercoasters for me!

Sa eny way! Great vacation. Can't wait till next year. Will have picus up soon!

Ahhhh. I am ONE day away from spending the next week lounging on the beaches of the DelMarVa peninsula. I'm gonna tan, :relax: I'm gonna sleep, :sleep: I'm gonna learn how to skim board, :ambulance: I'm gonna party at Seacrets :strip: and drink lotsa lotsa booze. :absolut:

I'm pretty sure I'm going to be away from the internet for the whole week too. (Unless I go to McDonalds. All of them down there have free WiFi.) So I'll be looking foreward to seeing all of the deviations you guys make when I get back/

Sigh. I am very close to finishing my Ashelin jacket...and then my SECOND sewing machine kacked out. I have been running them pretty hard and I don't think they were made for industrial grade vinyl. Ah well. As much as I now have blue balls for finishing my project I will just have to deal with it. I won't have money to service either machine until after vacation. Or until I get some birthday money.

WEEEE! Next friday I'll be 27!! :sing:

So...DA gave me a free week of subscirption. I reallly like it. I think I'll spend the money to get a year subscription after the beach.


OH!! I go to Fenwick Island Delaware for a whole week! :relax: I'm gonna try skim boarding this year. I saw some kids doing it last year and thought it looke like fun.

I am just about to put the finishing touches on my Ashelin headgear and the stupid snaps I bought are all mixed up. I was FOOLISH and bought snaps from a fabric outlet rather than a store and the damn stupid idiots who made the little bags of industrial snaps put all the wrong parts in the bag. AHHHHHHHHHHHHH! :angered: So now I can't finish it tonight like I wanted to AND I won't have another chance to work on it till FREAKING SUNDAY!!! :chainsaw:

I will have do say someting for the hair though. It won't be exactly like Ashelin's hair. It is indamnpossible for me to replicate a drawling that has no respect for the rules of gravity. So I've come up with a cross between Jak Sparrow and Angelina Jole in Gone in 60 Seconds. It should look hot either way......I hope.

Anyway, I FINALY got my goggles done for my Ashelin costume. :w00t: Boy they were a pain in the ass but I think they turned out pretty good. I'll be posting pictures as soon as I'm done with the journal.

Nothing else has really been going on. I finished some pretty big sections of my :fusionrock: Dark Warrior :fusionrock: story. That made me happy. Next week will be another writing week now that I got some of my costume done. I wish there was more time in the day ya know. There are so many things I want to get done but not enough time to do it in.

I just signed my contract to do sound design :stereo: for our upcoming production of Dreamgirls. YEA money! :dollarus: If any of you live in the Harrisburg, PA area I recommend this show. Great voices and a great show. We open in early October.

Lets see what else...OH. I got my hair cut REALLY short. It hasn't been this short since I was two. You'll see it in my pic.

SOOOOOOO! I finaly got arround to posting a teaser for my Jak and Daxter fanfic :fusionrock: "Dark Warrior":fusionrock:

I've been working on it for a long time and I am hoping to get it done by fall. However drawing it is going to be a massive pain in the ass. :constipated: I'm half tempted to offer it as a commision but I don't think that I could afford it. I do have some concepts worked out though and my boyfriend is on board to help out with the art...

Ok...sorry...childhood memory overload. Anyway yeah concepts like having moments in the past (lots of em) in grayscale and everything else in color. I'm still trying to learn how to draw all of the original characters and I'm downloading a lot of lineart tutorials. And of course I look to all of you guys for my ongoing education in Jak and Daxter art. Sigh...so much to learn...so little time.

Anyway that's all about the fanfic.

I started working on my Ashelin wig. I've got the basic style however I need to go to the beauty shop and buy more hair. I need more layers than what the wig could give me. I also turned a 2 dollar water pistol into a REALLY KICK ASS GUN!

Oder dan that...I just finished an audio gig for a local choir and made my first recording in years. I hope to get to editing it next week.

I'm continuing to work on my fanfic. I've started a lot of scenes and am just trying to flesh them out a little. I've also been trying to draw some stuff for the manga version but none of what I've done is where I want it to be. At this rate I'll just hand over the art to Rick (my boyfriend) and just go for the wrighting credits. :frustrated: We'll see.

But instead of drawling I've been working on my haloween costume. I'm gonna be Ashelin from Jak X. :kiss: I got the mock up for the jaket and finished the shorts. I also ordered the welding goggles that I'm gonna convert into racing goggles. I can't wait to get them! I need to do some craftyness!!!! SO looking foreward to it. :giggle:
