From the sight of him in his original game of FFVII spanning to his appearance in Advent Children and Dirge of Cerberus (not considering Crisis Core because he was only sixteen), Cloud has changed. I wanted to write a journal about this because I was thinking about this little -issue- as of late. Traversing across the huge FFVII fandom, one finds a plethora of angry comments about Cloud and his emo angst and his tears of sorrow and his sighs of grief and his wrists of blood slit. Sadly this is an image projected directly only from VII projects made in the past decade, and those without knowledge of his original game -or those that have simply forgotten - believe that this is all Cloud really is. I think I’m going to stick up for that lovely little man and say that you, you misguided peons, are all quite. wrong.

A little history lesson, perhaps, will bring those unenlightened folk into the light that is Sir Strife. The premise of VII is a cocky little mercenary bombs a city for $$$. Said mercenary accidentally gets caught up in a tale of running from evil people towards evil people all while having a weird little whisper in his ear and a tingle in his spine telling his brain that he should find the great SOLDIER Sephiroth. Throughout the game, the cocky mercenary cross dresses, has sex with a well-endowed chick, goes through the well-endowed chick’s underwear drawer and holds onto the bra, participates in a romance play at an amusement park, and does all the above with a coolness and cockiness that cannot be topped, although Dio, Mukki, and Don Corneo would like to beg otherwise. Of course, this mercenary is unspokenly Cloud Strife in the flesh and blood. This is a man of charm and awesome, charm and awesome, charm and awesome. (Tifa: Did you sleep well, Cloud? Cloud: Next to you, who wouldn't?) This is NOT emo angst.

Now, once he has his climactic head-banging breaking point of realizing that he is NOT Zack Fair, 1st class SOLDIER and 1st class God, he changes into, again, not a woobie angst machine but a dorky little fragile-minded idiot. (Cloud Strife: Can't go through here... That flame would make crispy critters of us in an instant.) He’s really pretty dumb. However, he’s happy, and unfortunately Square Enix has decided to make him instead absolutely miserable in later games. Most people don’t know of the beautiful gems of lines he had in VII because they’re too busy mocking the way he said “dilly dally shilly shally” in Advent Children.

Because I feel it’s necessary and because I just.. want to, I’m gonna post some of said beautiful gems just to further my point:
Aeris: You remember me? Cloud: Yeah, you're the slum drunk.

Tifa: You see that, Cloud? Cloud: The girl in the bikini?

Cloud: (to Barret) You looked like a bear wearing a marshmallow.

Preach it, Cloud. Now that I’ve proved my point, I can say heartily that he is a beautifully simple man. I wish the fandom would understand that he is his FFVII self and that his AC or DoC or even KH personalities are hardly canon because the writers are being incompetent assholes about his demeanor. It saddens me to see him being put next to Squall as being the one of the two most solemn, angsty, dark protagonists in the entire FF series, when in fact he should be put next to Bartz or Tidus in the dumb, pleasant category. (Squall is a different discussion, rant, and essay.) So fandom: my commands are for you to become more educated in the ways of Cloud Strife’s mind. That is all.

It was a cold, drizzly Tuesday night…. I was home sick with the swine flu….

The newest Organization-based Kingdom Hearts game was beaten by yours truly at 6:45 p.m. on the 13th of October at the brink of the apocalypse.

Time for Lord Windsor’s review.

Plot
Classically, I must first speak of the game’s plot. This game (henceforth called Days) has a different structure from the previous three KH games. Whilst the others focused on Sora or Riku traversing from world to world, solving the catastrophes of each, and then advancing to the next set of worlds, Days revolves around the idea of Roxas going out on a mission each day, and afterwards he would return to his home world of The Castle That Never Was. I’ve heard a lot of people criticize the lack of Disney in this game because there IS a lack of Disney plot: the Disney worlds and characters are around for only the purpose of being throwbacks to Sora. And I like that. The Disney aspect has always been the worst part of KH games for me~

The game follows a really tight pattern: every day, Saïx gives Roxas his mission (sometimes he partners with another Org member), and Roxas will go do it. Afterwards, he’ll go sit on the clock tower and eat ice cream with Axel and Xion. This happens every. day. A lot of players grew really bored of this routine, but I personally enjoyed it because throughout all 350 days, you notice the subtle changes between the personalities and relationships between the three of them on the clock tower. Not to mention, they have some pretty badass conversations. Like that one about love. And girls’ buttons.

It takes a little while for the plot to kind of set off (like 120-ish days) but it’s immediately interesting -especially- if you weren’t already spoiled for this game. The mystery is what Xion and Roxas are. And Riku makes a lot of awesome cameos. The ending was really touching, even if Roxas’ big fat teardrop was a little obnoxious. I really wanted them to include the scene from KH2 Final Mix where Axel and Roxas say goodbye on the clock tower and -Axel- lets out a big fat teardrop, but….. no. :C

Overall: 4.5/5

Characters
The characters were basically the selling point for this game. I’m a big Organization XIII fan, so it was more than epic to be able to chill and talk to the other Org members in the castle. The dialogue was hilarious, especially Xigbar, Demyx, and Axel’s. There was a ton of characterization for members they didn’t touch on too much in KH2. Sadly, the guys who were in Chain of Memories were only around for the tutorial days, so not much happened with them. I would’ve liked more Larxene…

Roxas: Do I need a reason to like him as a protagonist more than Sora? It’s just kind of a given. You see a lighter side of Roxas in this game as opposed to in the beginning of KH2. He’s portrayed as being young and naïve (like Sora, I guess) and kind of over-emotional. FORESHADOWING. But everyone already knows he has a heart so whatever. By the end of the game, he’s so close to Xion, he gets a little weirdly obsessive over her, and I just said “Roxas, honey. She’s basically a robotic man. Let it go.” Good thing Axel found her off-button, as was displayed in one FMV. On that note…

Xion: She’s not a Mary Sue. And because she IS a Mary Sue at the beginning of the game, she has a very good reason for being one (the whole robotic man thing). First and foremost, her theme song is epic and her battle song is almost as epic. Secondly, I wish they would tell the voice actors how to pronounce her name because Axel, Roxas, and Riku and say it differently. I just had to get those things off my chest.

If Roxas is ever portrayed as an idiot, just turn your head and look at Xion. I guess Xemnas forget to give her common sense. Oh I am cruel. Some people see Xion as a cockblock. I agree. Although Akuroku shall never be canon, it’s still a lovely thing to fantasize over. Xion is crazy, literally, and that makes her pretty cool. The fact that everyone sees her differently when they look at her is really interesting, especially since Xigbar sees her as VEN. Which is fucking awesome.

Axel: Gawd, I loved Axel in this game. With each new game including Axel, I love him a little bit more. His character arc in this game is beautiful if you read into it enough. He starts off a cold, emotionless nobody, but as he spends more time with Roxas and Xion (and with Sora in Castle Oblivion, as he talks about), you notice that he grows more emotional and slightly more selfless. I’m realizing right now that this game really is all about character development and progression… Huh. Also, Axel is really hot.

Mr. Neill: God help me. He talks slower than Mr. Perkins, walks slower than Mr. Perkins, is just about as fat as Mr. Perkins, only he's missing that endearing little step dance that Mr. Perkins would dissolve into during one of his lectures. Thus he has every bad Perkins quality, yet missing the only good one. Not to mention he will be teaching me physics at 7:30 in the morning.

Mr. Sharrar: A purebred, half-breed, loose-toothed, rough-talking hillbilly. Who teaches American history. I don't think a lecture will be necessary this year: all I'll have to do is stare at this man to get the full drift of America. Good news, though, I heard he's supposed to be funny.

Mrs. Greppi: Might we actually LEARN something in French this year?! She seems to be a legit teacher, which is something unheard of in the language department. However, she looks rather like a fish, attending to her -questionable- name, and she's really neurotic.

Mrs. Keffelas: Typical math teacher. Monotone voice. Monotone suit. Slow sense of humor. And a curious underbite. I'm terrified, however. I despised Algebra 2 last year, which apparentally is essential knowledge for trigonometry....

Mrs. Stewart: Woah, a GOOD teacher?! She is ACTUALLY rather entertaining, I must say! Except she has, with a horrible chuckle, reminded us that to be in AP Lit, we gotta grind our asses off. So she's a tough grader, and she's suspected to play favorites. But we'll see. We'll. see.

She's also my acting teacher during the following period.

Mrs. Ceh: I barely know how to pronounce it either, trust me. YAY psychology!!! It doesn't matter how great the teacher is; regardless, this class shall be the epitome of epic~!!

That's it. I don't have gym or speech until next semester.... Sigh.

1) I dislike monotheistic religions because, to me, philosophically, the people who choose to worship one god and one set of laws and commands seem to get in the most amount of trouble with other religions, and in a way, they are selfish. I like the idea of polytheism much better, simply because (even though I'm not forgetting about how crazy those Romans were) it's a more creative way to consider life, and you become more sort of balanced and evened out.
2) I get jealous easily, and unfortunately, when I get jealous, I get flustered and upset and it's annoying and I wish I would stop being that way.
3) I love teaching myself languages, so I'm thinking about going into some sort of interpretation/translation field in later life.
4) I hate people who are against gay rights meaning my paternal half the family and a few of my friends. Unlike any other prejudice, this one pisses me off the most.
5) I hate the heat. I just hate it. The perfect temperature is around 65 degrees.
6) If it impresses me, it must be pretty damn impressive cuz I'm pretty picky and analytical when it comes to most things. So if I compliment something of yours, take it to heart.
7) I wear too much black but I'm trying to stop! I went shopping the other week and got some clothes of color.
8) I absolutely despise musicals like Wicked, first and foremost. I saw it, and I wanted to leave in the first few minutes, it was that horrible. The only musical I'll probably ever enjoy is Sweeney Todd. On that note, I haaaate it when people around me sing. People singing rubs me the wrong fucking way.
9) I can’t sit through an entire movie without getting antsy which poses a few problems for me when people invite me to watch a movie with them. I just don't like sitting still for that long.
10) I don’t like doing things with people in groups of more than three. Nine times out of ten, I'm usually the one ending up as the third wheel, and I hate that position.
11) I wish I could play the piano better since I've been playing forever, but I can't get much better than where I am now because my motherfucking fingers have the inability to move very quickly.

Story
Overall, the story was very. very. forgettable. This game is supposed to be up there as the Best Final Fantasy Game Ever along with VI and VII, and I guess I understand why - up until now there really weren't any games on the market with stories at all. I mean, the story was okay, but definitely not one of the best FFs. The dialogue, taking from its predecessors of the RPG genre, is simple and stupid, but nowhere near as bad as the dialogue from FFII. At least everything in this game has personality, there's just very little of it.
Rating: 4/10

Characters
I was very disappointed with most of the characters in this game, especially Cecil and Rosa. Cecil, being the protagonist, should at least be likeable, and I really hoped they improve upon him in Dissidia. He's got no personality, and the personality that Rosa has, on the other hand, is the stereotypical damsel-in-distress who ends up wanting to fight alongside the men at the end (even though she's nothing but a white mage). And then the two end up marrying. I dunno why anyone bothered going to the wedding. Now, Kain was a pretty good character, I thought, even if he has this crazy voice in the DS version. He easily was the archetype for later characters such as Riku from KH or even Possessed!Cloud from FFVII. Not to mention he was the only character in this game with any depth whatsoever. Golbez ended up being one of those what-the-fuck characters. He's this big badass, then all of a sudden he gets his mind back and for the remainder of the game, his actions consist of staring at Cecil, saying things like "Brother.... I am.... your brother...." while Cecil bashfully looks down at the floor, all of a titter. Badass decay FTW.
Rating: 5/10

Gameplay
This game was veeeeeeeeerrry easy. I was taken-back at how little challenge there was anywhere. In fact, I don't think I died fighting any bosses except once against Cagnazzo (and CERTAINLY not against the Dark Elf of Mysidia)! The amazing part is that I beat Zeromus: the final boss, on the FIRST TRY. That NEVER happens to me!! Well, okay, I died by accident the first time, but that's because I wasn't paying attention when they told me to use the crystal to actually make Zeromus appear, urgh. But REALLY, I DID beat Zeromus on the first try. He was an astoundingly easy final boss. His only special attack that did anything at all was Big Bang and that took off 2000HP from everyone, but come on. That doesn't even compare to attacks like Necron's Grand Cross or Safer Sephiroth's Heartless Angel. And my party was only averaging level 58 (not counting Rydia who was level 47 and died promptly throughout the whole battle).
Rating: 7/10 = I like easy games.

Overall
Like I said before, this game was forgettable. For example, just as I left the Tower of Babel, I couldn't even remember the difference between that and the Tower of Zot. But that just might be my selective memory and I hate dungeons. The characters were "eh" and the fighting was "yay easy" and the ending was "yawn". But I'm still glad I played it because it's another FF under my belt. That makes FOUR DOWN and SEVEN TO GO.
Overall Rating: 5/10

Next up on my list of FFs to beat is V. Except maybe I'll go and finally beat Kefka first.

And it's... well, it's today, not tomorrow. So why do I get these insane numbers from the future?

On another note, I may as well mention it now that I'm writing a new journal. So we know WoL, Garland, Firion, Palamecia, OK, and CoD so far. Quickly, WoL is boring, Garland is perfect, Firion sounds pretty good, Palamecia is an epic David Bowie, OK sounds like Sora from KH1, and CoD is teh sex.

Then Gametrailers went and released that all-English gameplay trailer yesterday with that BLASTING, STUPID SONG which is some fool's attempt at an upbeat version of "Cosmos" or something. Because of that retarded song, the only new voices I could catch were Terra's (ACE), Ultimecia (actually pretty), and ExDeath's (typical). There were too lines of Kuja's, though, that tickled me. He sounds both gay AND bipolar in this trailer, which is satisfying.

Zidane, he gets a paragraph to himself. Zidane..... Honey. Sweetie. No. Just.... just no. ;_; Unless whenever HIS gameplay montage is released, he somehow sounds at ALL good, Zidane is basically ruined for me. I hated his Japanese voice, but now I'd so much rather take that voice to this one. Melissa had a good analogy: It sounds like his balls are being squeezed together.

III don't own them -yet- but Dr. T does, so I piddled myself over to her house and we were both in awe over the absolute beauty of the HD-ness and the dirt-ness and the blood-ness and the OPEN NEIGHBORHOOD-ness and the... EVERYTHING.

Since we did Sims first, I'll start with that. Really, I don't know how else to describe it with any other word than "epic". Now I know, I know, that sounds rather bold of me, but I don't honestly think the trailers or screenshots gave it enough justice. Yeah, it LOOKED much cooler, and srsly, the graphics are AMAZING, MUCH better than Sims 2, but it just had this... vibe. Maybe it was the music, or maybe it was the seeing new game aspects that the producers hadn't mentioned pre-release, but it just had this VIBE of perfection. Everything about this game seems clean and fresh~ Probably one of my favorite aspects of the new gameplay are the moodlets. Instead of wants (although the Sims DO still have wants) these little pictures pop up every once in awhile that describe how the Sim is feeling about something. For example, at the very beginning, Arnie went for a drive around the neighborhood, and when he was done, a moodlet that had a picture of a car popped up and said Arnie was happy now because he enjoys the smell of new cars! It's awesome, truly~! Another awesome aspect is the idea of giving them traits instead of a "personality". And I like how you can learn other people's when interacting with them for a long enough period of time.

So now that's going on my list of things to buy.

NOW Advent Children Complete. First off, before I say anything else, WTF KADAJ. SRSLY WTF. He's so.... weird in this version! And in good AND bad ways! He has some really random and sweet one-liners like when he barges in on Rufus and goes "FOOOOUND YA!" and cut to black. And when Elena found the three remnants in the Crater and the sound is all fuzzy, but suddenly Kadaj says crystal-clear into the camera "You can't keep her from us!" ...Well he said something to that effect. But it was pretty pwn. Now for the BAD. The first scene, they changed. Instead of the North Crater, Kadaj and Rufus are having a "moment" on their favorite ledge. Kadaj's voice, however, does NOT sound remotely like Steve Staley, and I was SHOCKED, APPALLED, and FRIGHTENED. (The scene was still hot though, I ship KadajXRufus.) Throughout the movie, all his new scenes with new dialogue ALL sound different! I fear Steve forgot how to voice Kadaj!

Anyway, as for the rest of the movie, it's safe to say that this version is 100% more awesome, pretty, epic, and emotional than the original. They added SO. MUCH. NEW. STUFF. Every single scene was different or altered in some way to make it more pwn, and the new scenes were everywhere often. The final battle against Sephiroth as well as the highway battle against Yazoo and Loz were kicked up a thousand notches. The music was better everywhere (except I miss Cloud's mind's elevator music during the flower scene D: ), and the new voice actors for Denzel and Marlene were a helluva lot better than the old VA's. The scene where Cloud found Denzel outside the church was really... quite emotional. And right in the middle of the final battle, Zackie-boy makes a most epic appearance. Not to mention, Reno and Rude seem to appear.... well, much sexier in this version too. Maybe that's just me and my rrrrrraging hormones, heehee, but the three new scenes that they were in made them.... um, hotter. (I ship them too. So much chemistryomg.) The one thing I was really disappointed in, however, was the fact that they kept Mena Suvari. They got new Denzel+Marlene VA's, why can't they drag Andrea Bowen back in?! Hmph. But anyway, yes, fuck yes, this movie is. absolutely. incredible.

School ends in 21 days, and the moment I step off the bus, I get on the plane to Ireland! I've been waiting for this day since last summer. I'm going to take 400 pictures, no more, no less, for the camera holds only 400 pictures.

As for Final Fantasy (for I mustn't go a paragraph without speaking of FF), I now own all the core games! But I still gotta beat.... :/ um, eight of them.

About video games in general, I'm quite content with my Brawl right now, but god knows you can only play the Subspace Emissary for a few days before you get drained. In fact, I find myself slipping back into a Zelda mood, to be honest! I never did finish playing Twilight Princess, and I wanna see what happens to my beloved Midna. <3

Now onto cosplay: I scrapped my Ruby idea. Ruby won't be too much fun because no one will recognize her, even if I carry a Blank doll in my arms the whole time. Instead, I'm going to be Beatrix while Dr. Tot is going to be Kuja. I'm so excited. We're bringing cocktail glasses and iPod speakers to play FFIX music~

As for school, I got into AP English!!! Hooray! Summer readings! Butttt also prestige. ;D I'm hoping I get into Psychology next year, but French 4 sounds smert soooo.

I dressed up as Keffykakes, the Keffington, yes, Lord Kefka, and aww man it was fucking awesome because people actually came UP to me and were saying things like "~I~ believe Kefka is the best Final Fantasy villain ever!" And I'd reply "Of course, you fool." Wherever I walked around, people were looking at me, and I could hear them saying "Look, it's Kefka!" Everytime I heard that, a thrill of awesomeness went through me because.... that means I succeeded, yo! The only regret I have, though, is neglecting to practice poses, sigh, because I really didn't know what to do in pictures.

So I went in a group with as Demyx, Jaymi as Kairi, and as a human. Sadly, Demy and Kairi went off in one direction, while the human and I went in another, and we never really reconnected. In fact, I think those two are still there as I type this. But either way, human and I had a fucking awesome time, just chillin' and people watching and FLIRTING with a CELEBRITY. HAW.

VEXEN. Is now one of my favorite Org members. Derek Stephen Prince was there (who voices him in Re:CoM) and.... just. wow. That was all human and I could say after we met him. We just stood out in the hallway in an ecstatic daze and just. said. wow. This is what happened, my friends. We were the first ones in line, waiting outside the panel room door about an hour before he began signing autographs. Unfortunately, once they opened the doors, some FUCKERS got in front of us, so we got stuck in the third row, but we still got up there quick. On the way up to him, all I remember is how our hearts were pounding, and we were planning on what we would ask him. I'm going to write exactly what went down, just for my own future reference, not for you idiots.

So we were waiting in line, and we noticed he kept glancing at us, which was cool. Then as soon as it was my turn, I went right up to him, threw my Roxas plushie down at his fingertips, and blurted out in a mechanical voice: "Hi, Vexen." Then human, next to me, blurted right out: "You MADE that game. You were the BEST VOICE ACTOR in Re:CoM" all the while I was saying "You remember being Vexen, right?! Because he was a small character and all that." And all this suddenly in his face, I think, made him lean back, oh yes. And it was really awesome because he told us then that we were the first people to confront him directly about his part as Vexen instead of that dude from Bleach or Naruto. When he asked my name, I told him I was Lord Windsor, and I could tell he was tickled. All in all, he was really really friendly, and I just remember feeling how hot my face was, and feeling as though I'd pass out. From the looks of human, she felt the same way. Anyway, then I asked him if he could laugh in Vexen's voice while I recorded him. He paused for a moment, thinking, and then he said "Oh, I can do more than that." And I'm in this daze, so I really don't know what the hell he's saying. But I held the camera up, and all of a sudden, before I could prepare myself, Derek Stephen Prince threw at me the most AMAZING soliloquy filled with killing and experimentation and maniacal cackles... Gawd, I fainted. Then it was human's turn for her autograph, and that was... absolutely epic, because I thought ~I~ had gotten something awesome, well Derek starting outright flirting with her as Vexen, saying things like "Baby, I'll experiment on YOU" after human said "I LIKE the evil scientist type~" Then there was possibly the most AWESOME line FUCKING EVER that shall be known by no one but human, Vexen, and I. All I shall tell you pathetic people, is that it is the most epic inside joke that involves a slab. That. is. all. you. shall. know. We were talking to him for awhile... I'd say almost two minutes. I'm pretty sure Vexen will never forget about us. <3

Okayokayokay, so I promise this one will be a loooot shorter than my review of Re: Chain of Memories.

So last night at lyke 9:15, I….. finished Final Fantasy XII. Lemme tell you, I’ve been trying to beat this motherfucking game for almost two years now. I think I restarted it….. errrrrrr…. five times. But finally I discovered the Dustia method of leveling up (thanks to ) and that saved my life. Even if it bored the hell out of me for two straight weeks. But that’s what happens when you aim to achieve greatness!

Plot:
All right. Probably the one thing I hated about this game was its plot. To me, it had the cheesiest, most overly-complicated Star Wars rip-off plot of shit. Also, maybe I was just a little too stupid to understand most of the dialogue, or maybe it was just the bad voice acting, but I honestly couldn’t follow most of where the game was going. Therefore all the “revelations” at the end didn’t have any impact on me at all, sadly. Oh hay, Reddas was a judge magister, oh noes he is dying, sheeyat the sun-cryst is far away. Uh oh occuria. Ew, Vayne is big and red. I did, however, love most of the parts revolving around Balthier and Fran since they were my favorite characters. <3 Which brings us to…

Characters:
Nevermind, the plot isn’t the only thing I hated about this game. First off, we have this…. this “ protagonist” called Vaan who talks like a giggling gay little school boy buying tee-shurtz. Then we have this Penelo who does nothing but call out for Vaan and provide stunning visuals of her absolutely revolting hairstyle. Then we have this Basch who opens his mouth and I fall asleep. (BUT HE ALSO VOICED MARLUXIA; THEREFORE, HE IS COOL SOMEWHAT.) But on the opposite end of things, I really liked Balthier, Fran, Ashe, and Larsa. Balthy is just plain COOLNESS personified, Fran is shmexy, Ashe is kinda interesting, and Larsa made me chuckle with his pompous twelve-year-old antics.

Gameplay:
Now this is what I really liked about this game. It took a lot to get used to, being so different from the turn-based-ness of the other FF games , but after awhile it started getting…. almost meditative. Probably because you really don’t have to do anything except set gambits. It actually helped me relax whenever I was un-relaxed! And again the Dustia thing: I recommend it, really. Really. Really. It’s fucking time-consuming, I know. But if you stop thinking and listen to pretty music for a couple hours, it’s worth it in the long run. It’s very hard to level up in this game. VERY HARD.

Setting:
Ivalice is interesting. When you start the game, really all there is to see is desert and the rare oasis. It’s fugly. I hate deserts. Hot shit. But slowly, it gets more aesthetically pleasing. Because the deserts and sandseas and plains and estersands turns into pretty forests and jungles and rolling hills. What I’m saying is that, not even just in setting, but basically in every other category as well, the game gets a LOOOOT better towards the end. Stick it out.

Soundtrack:
This is just like what I said above. It sucks at the beginning, but gets better. I especially like the tracks for Giruvegan, Pharos Lighthouse/Ridorana Cataract, and the Feywood. Lawlz, everything else sucks. BRING BACK NOBUOOO. Oh, speaking of that lovely chap, I really liked the ending song “Kiss Me Goodbye”. It was oddly out of place with the rest of the soundtrack, but it was really sweet, methought.

It’s kinda not fair that I judge the graphics since this game is over three years old. But. Yes, the graphics, in my opinion, are pretty dahmn good. A lot better than FFX. That’s all I have to say about that.

Overall, this game was…. different from all the other Final Fantasies. Very different. For good and for bad. AAAaaaaand…. I’m just about out of mouth words. But, indeed, I got really emotional at the ending because this was the first Final Fantasy I ever played, and it’s over now. Sighzz. I’ll probably get the same way when I eventually beat FFX (which I’m also really close to doing) because that was the first FF I -watched- someone play.

Warning: THIS IS FUCKING LONG.

Last night at 8:34 p.m., Lord Windsor beat Re: Chain of Memories. First off, this game is so much fucking better than the pathetic GBA version that I threw that one down very early on and picked this remake up instead whenever it came out. This version is a HELLUVA lot better.

Professional Part: This is simply here for me to sound awesome. I clocked in at 28 hours for Sora’s Story and just under 10 hours for Riku’s story. I got 7 of the Treasure Card rooms with Sora, and a final level of 61 -- a final level of 43 with Riku. I was pretty dahmn proud of Sora’s deck because it was basically 9, 0, 9, 0, 9, 0, etc. I was almost unbeatable!

All right…… Cue ominous thunderbolts…

Time for the review.

Sora’s Story
So, all in all, this was the fucking corniest Kingdom Hearts they’ve released so far. Hands down. Don’t disagree. If you’ve played ANY of this game, you’ll understand. Now, I’m taking KH2 into account with this, and that means I’m including the ENTIRE Halloween Town plot (you know, the one where Sora is creaming himself over seeing Santa) and the happening of Sora reuniting with Riku in The World That Never Was (getting down on his knees and sobbing) and probably even more parts that escape my mind. The Kingdom Hearts series is known for being that type of uplifting corniness that, I guess is supposed to appeal to the younger audiences even though it’s a fact that 90% of it’s players are female deviants on DA that are above the age of 18. *COUGHCOUGHLADYCHIMERA* But, really. In Re:CoM, it feels like every single line of dialogue holds the essence of always following your heart and never let go of your friends. It’s like….. It’s like church, really! But not as punishingAheheh oops. I meant to say it’s like Kindergarten.

The plot is this: It’s the end of Kingdom Hearts 1, and Sora, Donald, and Goofy are led into Castle Oblivion where their memories are being continuously erased as they ascend the many floors. Hence the title. This is the game where Organization XIII is introduced, although it’s only the first half of the group. Fangirl squeeing is very much ensued throughout the fandom.

Axel: BELONGS TO ROXAS, MARIA. ROXAS. AKUROKU. MUAHAHA *evil* Axel, who, I’m proud to say, I’m a HUGE fan of, was really HOT in this game! I dunno what did it… It may have been Quinton Flynn’s pwn voice acting skills, or just his dialogue… Whatever it was, it made me fall in love with this guy. Dahmn. Axel is fucking hot in this game. Shall I say it again? Axel is fucking hot in this game. He slayed me in the beginning with his outstretched hand and him saying whatever it was that he said. Um. Something like “take my hand, Sora.” Something like that.

Larxene: At first, I liked her English voice. It sounded… not quite sweet, but sweet/seductive. I guess. But then, as the game progressed, it started annoying me more and more and more and more, until I decided I HATE her voice. Okay, I don’t hate the VOICE, but more the voice actress. She really can’t act, when it comes down to it. As a character, though, I liked how she seemed to be the only Org member who was… well, EVIL! I suppose Vexen was also on that level, but Larxene was truly evil badassery. I think it should have been her who owned Castle Oblivion instead of Marly because 1) She would have made a much more intense final boss, and 2) It’d be Marly who is all up in my face more. wub. Except now that I think about it, I bet the castle wouldn’t be anywhere near as beautiful without Marluxia’s special touch.

That brings us to Marluxia: This game has showed me the light, the light that is Marly. But, in turn, it’s also brought me many surprises, one being the fact that his voice actor does Basch from FFXII and Bloo from Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends, and also the fact that he’s black! So Marly is some kind of African Imaginary Warrior. Seriously though, Marly is..... well.... epic. And I LOVE him. I can't think of anything else to say about thay-at.

Namine: I thought they did a really good job with her re-vamp for this game. I REALLY like her new voice actress! She constantly sounds like she's going to burst into tears, but it has this sweet, innocent, endearing quality about it that makes me GRIN and BEAR IT.

I'm really happy they didn't have too much Disney shit in this game. You just kind of got through the rooms as fast as possible, skipped (at least I did) the retarded Disney scenes to get to the level boss. Y'all know I don't like Twilight (something that nowadays is like the same thing as saying "I'm gonna kill the president") but the one thing that keeps me loving news about the movie coming out is good ol' RPattz. Or, uh, Robert Pattinson for those of you who don't know everything. He plays none other than Edward Cullen _{(OME EDWAAAHHHRRRDD OME I LOVE JOO MARRY ME KGHKLASGNKLHEW BITE ME EDWARD I WILL BE SO MUCH BETTER THAN BELLA SRSLY I WILL AGREE TO AN ENGAGEMENT EDWARDEDWARDEDWARD)}. Anyway, RPattz, despite being the lead in the movie, and who also has the great responsibility of portraying the hawttest thing that's ever hit every 12-16 year old in the world, is strangely level-headed about this whole thing. And I really love him for it. He totally gets the fact that these books are a piece of shit and that people are waaaaaayyyyyyy too hung up over this. Like holy shit, no lie. It usually results in pain and misery with an air of whimsical, delicious, old-fashioned amusement on the side~! I was thinking that..... because I'm really unpolitical and have generally no idea what's reeeeeeeally going on, I may as well think of this whole election in terms that my silly little mind can understand.

I came to the conclusion that I want Obama to be president because I think it would be fun. Yes, indeed. McCain is more or less the same person as the last 40-whatever prezzies the USA has had, and therefore would be nothing new or interesting. Obama's big thing is, as the whole damn world knows, CHANGE. I'm not going to get too much into the details of what the changes will be and how they'll affect the ever-collapsing economy, but all I know is that these changes are vague. Even more fun! Drama, I say! Who wants to live in a predictable world, anyway? Obama's biggest drawback, though, is that many people agree that his future policies may result in this country going into debt because... idunno, he wants to start a ton of new stuff. The thing is... that's FUN. ;D It's INTERESTING. It's NEW. I really don't have much of an objection to becoming a hobo because I know that with my outlook on life, I could make it into something awesome. On the flipside, we could turn into the best country in the world with Obama as our happy, smiling, thumb-upping leader! ;D That's fun too! I guess.

I know what you're thinking, you silly little people, you. You're thinking "WTF, you IDIOT?! That's not how you should look at it at all! I raised my hand with pride because I don't live under the rock the media has attempted to throw on top of me. Ralph Nader is the independent candidate and the most well-known face of the minorities. Good ol' Bobby, on the other hand, is the Libertarian. No one knows the poor guy.

So further along in that history class, we had a mock poll that the entire school would participate in. I voted for Bobby simply to make my point that I don't have a valid opinion in this world yet, and that I don't generally give a shit about the world's politics. Lawlz.

I was thinking about Final Fantasy, you see. Thinking whilst listening to "Ruins of Madain Sari" from the IX soundtrack on the bus home from school.

Wellll..... I guess I like making lists because I am soon going to make a list. Basically, I was thinking about how each Final Fantasy kind of..... erm, resembles a different culture of the world. Let me explain myself:

FFIV: Okay, so I'm not far in this game at allll. Honestly, I JUST left the second dungeon, and I saw the whole Damcyan scene. Yay! for Spoony Bard! But from what I've gathered, the game feels very British. I think it's because of the names. Cecil is a very British sounding name. BTW, I HATE the pronunciation of that name; I always assumed it was pronounced Seh-CEEL, like the French way, but no! It's SEH-suhl. Ugh. It's ugly. Also, he's a knight, so that helps with the England image.

FFVI: VI is an Italian-feeling game. Here, the names are a biggy! Kefka Palazzo, Figaro, even Celes is rather Italian sounding if you try hard enough. Also, VI is famous for the Opera. Ahh... Aria de Mezzo Carattere, I love that song. Operas (and the name of that piece) have an Italian air.

FFVII: Yes. Final Fantasy VII. I had a good long think about this game, and my conclusion was that this game sort of embodies Germany and Norse... stuff. :/ Kinda hard. Of course, everyone knows Midgar is a city from Norse legend, and Nibelheim sounds Germanic. Not to mention many of the small towns from that game have buildings that have the... er, stucco and paneling style that is usually traced back to good ol' Germany (Nibelheim and Kalm). Also... doncha think Barret and Tifa are kinda German sounding names?

FFVIII: Okayokayokay. This one was a LOT harder than VII. Honestly, I don't really know where to place this game. But..... after having a reaaaally long sit-down think, I realized that the reason why I was having such difficulty choosing a culture for VIII is because that game feels so very American. Actually, it feels like America in the 80's with the music and the clothes. But otherwise, I think this game is also a bit German-feeling. Maybe the names? :/ Dunno.

FFIX: Ahhhhhh, yes. Final Fantasy IX. I think this one is ~clear~. IX has a veeerry French vibe. DISAGREE WITH ME AND DIE. First of all, Zidane is the name of a popular French soccer (football, whatever) player, which makes it REALLY FUCKING HARD to google search the kid. Also Vivi, Garnet, Beatrix, Quina, Eiko... they are all very Frenchie names, no? Also, the music has that.... l'air d'élégance that reminds one immediately of the French culture (Ruins of Madain Sari, Vivi's Theme, Kuja's Theme). Also, Alexandria... the way it's designed is similar to a Parisian town. OH! I just thought of another thing. Makeup. KUJA. Am I disillusioned in thinking that French men wear makeup? Not to mention Zorn and Thorn, bless their souls, are like little French jesters. And Brahne's makeup is also Frenchie. In fact... I think this game is so French, Melissa and I were worrying that when Dissidia is English dubbed, Kuja and Zidane might actually have French accents. O______O

Moving on.... FFX: This game actually reminds me a lot of Eastern Asia. Like.... from Indonesia and stuff, like Besaid and Kilika and Luca, all the way north to Russia (Mt. Gagazet). Isn't that what they even officially stated? Like... something about how this game is different from past games because it's more Asian than European? Hmm.. Well, anyway, look from Wakka to Lulu to Kimahri, and you'll see what I mean.

FFXII Ughhhhghhh. Okay. Uhhhhhh... :/ Jeez. Desert? Cuz that's pretty much it. Maybe someone could help me out with this one. It kinda feels British, but that's mostly because of the accents. It goes from looking kinda like Ireland because of the woodsie environments, but then it abruptly changes back to DESERT DESERT EVERYWHERE. *facepalm*

What freaks me out the MOST about her is that she has no WHITES in her eyes, no lie! No whites, but.... but YELLOWS. I dunno what the fuck is wrong with that woman, but I ain't liking it so far. Not to mention she's my ALGEBRA teacher. *shudder*

Mr. Deal looks like he should be a gym teacher instead. :/ He, himself, has a good vibe, but his room does NOT. Dr. Tot can vouch for me on this.

Mrs. McKeown is older than dirt and uglier than Seymour. (I WENT THERE.) English is going to suck this year.

Mrs. Hollowood is gonna be better than last year because this year I have FRIENDS in that class. Well, one friend. And Nick isn't even that great of a friend, but it's something.

Mr. Carson is actually probably my favorite teacher so far! He looks like WORMTAIL! He's all small and fat, but he's pretty awesome, methinks. Maybe chemistry won't be horrible. Not to mention his room pwns because there are two big-ass PIPES lining the ceiling.

Mr. Woolslare is not as awesome as Mr. Shafer. :C

IIIII ssssaaawwww Wall-E. A couple weeks ago, actually, so I dunno why I haven't said anything about it or reviewed it. Because, seriously, that was one of the best movies I have ever seen. Of course, all the idiots on IMDb are talking about how Pixars is failing; Wall-E is just one example of how the company is going downhill. Not only that, but also when I went to see it with my mom, brother, aunt, and cousin, NONE of them liked it! BOTH my mom and my aunt fell asleep because, as they said, there was no TALKING. My brother simply got into the car without a word. When I asked him if he liked it, he stretched, yawned, and said shortly, "It was horrible." And... well, my cousin is 7, so he doesn't know how to "like" a movie yet, really.

I felt really stupid for liking it because, from the way everyone else in the goddamn theatre reacted, it apparently sucked! And I didn't even realize it! So then, after seeing it again with Lord Tot, I had kinda an epiphany. The only way to really appreciate such a movie as that is to understand how fucking DIFFERENT it is than every other movie out there right now! That's right, I'm looking at YOU Kung-fu Panda. I think everyone can agree that movies these days (or maybe they've always been like this) are mindless. Hell, people these days are mindless and-- Oh, well, don't get me started on THAT rant. Although this movie might not have really been much of a thinker, it still had this... epic-ness, I suppose, about it.

So what if there was basically no dialogue in that movie except for the Captain and (lawlz) John and Mary! I personally thought the little tinky noises that the robots made were really relaxing and cute. Like Wall-E's little "Ohhh!" whenever he almost ran over his little cockroach friend, and Eve's little "No.. No..!" And of course, MY FAVORITE: "GOBBAGOBBAGOBBA!" *Titter!*

Don't even get me started on how amazing the graphics were. I'm sure that just knowing it's a Pixar movie makes you automatically know that the graphics will be above and beyond.

So, wow, this has turned into a review and I didn't mean for it to! Sorry 'bout that!

Before this gets too long, I'm just going to get straight to my original point. The music in this movie is really amazing. All by Thomas Newman, the same dude who made the soundtrack for Finding Nemo.

Well........ after beating Crisis Core (which marks me having played and beaten every game in VII's compilation!!), I had a nice long think. Everyone says that VII USED TO BE the best in the series before those "idiots" like Tetsuya Nomura decided to add onto it with the compilation. I've been to the forums, and sadly it seems like it's generally agreed that VII is incredibly overrated now. I've seen people who stick up for VII get bashed to hell. I've seen people after people say that fans of VII are only SePhY Worshippers because SEPHIROTH IS TEH SHIT!!11oneone.

Which he is. Ahem.

But seriously... being really new to FF's fandom, and having played VII only three months ago, I can't say I'm a veteran. Because, you know, veterans are our superiors and should never be bashed because they've been playing FF since the mid-80's. All the Grand-Master-Veterans all say that VII shouldn't even be compared to VI! OH GOD, NO! VI AND KEFKA ARE WAYYY BETTER THAN VII AND SEPHIROTH.

Kefka is a clown, literally. I've..... never played VI, so I'm probably a HUGE FREAKING POSER, but honestly, the reason why I love Sephiroth so much is because he has a paaast, you know? He has emotions! He's not just a random heartless criminal. Maybe.... Maybe...... Maybe I love Sephy. He just needs a friend, for Zack's sake! While Angeal and Genesis were off eating DUMBAPPLES, Sephiroth was stuck in his fucking mako tank! I mean COME ON! Can't you feel for the guy? ......... Off topic.

So, yeah.

VII has this classic feel to it. Having played it recently, I've grown up in a day and age where video games have graphics like Halo. But I've been able to see through the polygonal figures! The story and characters were so amazing, it just doesn't even matter! The story SUCKED me in, seriously! Just amazing!

The compilation? I'm glad they did it! A game that complex can't just have one game! Sure, Dirge of Cerberus may have..... sucked. But Advent Children and Crisis Core were both amazing! I don't see how those games could have ruined the series at all!

First of all--AWESOME GAME!! Now, I'll admit I'm very new to the VII compilation, having played VII only... a month ago. But this game was, lyke, uber fun.

ZACK IS SOO KEWL! He's my new second favorite character.... ever! (Sorry, Roxy-bear and Axel, but you've been BUMPED DOWN!) He's adorable and hyper and sweet, but not in an annoying Sora/Tidus kind of way. He makes you happy just being around him! Also he's SUPER HOT with a SUPER HOT voice! Sure, it may not be on the Ansem level--or even the Cloud level, at that--but there are some points, some words he says that are sexay. I think at one point he said, "You're sending me to Wutai?" and it made this sexy little crack at the end that was...... SEXY. So, yeah. Zack is sexy.

Sephiroth is also surprisingly sexy! OhmySephiroth, that one FMV with Sephiroth, Angeal, and Genesis on the Mako Cannon fighting was, quite possibly, the MOST PWNSOME scene in any video game! My mouth was almost on my chest! NO WAY can PSPs handle graphics this good, methought! And Sephy and Genesis were flying through the air when, all of a sudden, ONE-WINGED ANGEL COMES ON! HELL YA! I really liked Sephiroth in this game, because it showed a softer... more innocent side that I liked. *puts fingers together, Namine-therapist style*

Oh yeah..... GENESIS' COAT IS PINK, DAMMIT.

On to other, less important characters:
1) Aerith
I thought she was portrayed as being kind of ditzy in this game. :/ I liked her dress, though, lawlz. BLUE instead of PINK. But of course, it still has flowers on it. THANK SEPHIROTH they got her a new voice actor!!! Mena Suvari destroyed her in AC and KH2! *CLAPS* Hooray!!*no pun intended*
2)Yuffie
LMAO!!!! YUFFIE WAS AWWWESOME IN THIS GAME! Even being a stupid little 9 year old, she managed to be the funniest person in the whole game! I love how she's introduced in Wutai and in every mission of hers! The mysterious voice at first... then you zoom out to see her standing valiantly with her hands on her hips... and the woodblocky thing plays all ninja-like. And her facial expression when she cries! AND HOW SHE FLIES AWAY! LMAO!
3)Cloud
WOAH, number 3? What am I thinking??? Cloud was cute in this game, but I wished he was in it more. His voice...... was strange. Too breathy, I think. But still the sexy little machine that he is! I loved how they showed him all "NGHHHG" after being mako poisoned, but I wished they would've had Steve Burton actually say "NGHHHG!"
4)Tseng
He's a martian. That is all.
5)Angeal
He was kind of annoying. I hate how, after he got his angel wings, he's all like, I'M A MONSTAH!! He looks old, too. Double the fail, I say.

THE ENDING WAS SOOOOOO SAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But I shan't spoil it for those who wish to play. OMS, THOUGH!!! ;______;

I liked how, from Nibelheim on, the game had a really depressing, kind of hopeless vibe. The music added a lot to that. I thought it set it up really well for the ending. ;__________;

Speaking of the music, I LIKED IT! I thought it was preeeetty! Especially the music in Aerith's church! Every time I walked in there from the Sector 5 slums, I was all like, Ahhhh! Pretty music! The rest of the soundtrack was gud, too.

Ummm... This was vereh long. BUT, to sum it all up, I'd give it a 10/10, BITCHES! YEAH!

OMG CANCER!
Kingdom Cancer! It's ONLEH the best selling game out there for the day it's on the shelves before Squeenix takes it down. WOAH SQUEENIX IS HARD TO TYPE. Sora lugs around a rolling breathing bag and instead of visiting worlds, he goes from hospital room to hospital room. Different floor levels are different levels of difficulty. The first floor has only broken bones ppl. Easy, right? The next floor has like, not that sick ppl. The next floor has DISEASE. The next floor has RADIATION. The next floor has AIDS AND BIRD FLU HOMGSH!! And then maybe the top floor has campers like Marluxia and Kadaj and Sephiroth (SHHHHHH!!). The ultimate battle.

Let's see, what can I say that's a filler?

Well, number one: Fran and Balthier are the most PWNAGE characters in Final Fantasy XII! I go onto this forum and see what the tRuE fans have to say about it all, and what do I find? Everyone hates Fran. Everyone. Why? They say she's pointless and a waste of space with... get this.... terrible voice acting. Okay. Listen, people. When I went into the Eruyt Village (Fran's treehouse, lawlz), you could tell the chiefteness was trying to imitate Fran's accent. But alas! She could not! NO ONE can imitate dear Fran's accent! Not. Even. Me. I think everyone can admit to being blown away at least once upon hearing her voice. It's amazing! I wonder if the voice actress herself even knows which accent she's using! And she is NOT a waste of space! Hello, she is Balthier's little playboy bunny. They spawn peacock eggs which hatch into Fran bodies with Balthier heads.... and peacock butts. I'm sorry, but reproduction for the sake of genetic spawning and growth of species around the world does NOT sound like a waste of space to me!

Okay. Number two. Why does no one sell freaking PS1 games anymore??! I WANT a fucking FFVII but no one fucking SELLS IT ANYMORE. Don't they understand?? Don't they GET IT?? And not just that one, but also FFVIII with dear old Squall! (Which sounds like a bird's caw if you say it the right way....) There are classics in the PS1 range that they just decide to STOP SELLING because there is now a PS3 on the market! SHIT, MAN. SHIT.

I really don't feel 15. 15 is like... such a big number, and yet I'm already looking forward to when I turn 16.

I'm officially half-way to 30!! Transitioning into the older phase of teenager! The same age as Riku in KH1 and Roxas (screw Sora) in KH2! I'm older than most of my friends, save for Tot (grr)! Ahh. 15 is such a nice and whole number. A number of the gods, if I do say so myself. Only 5 years until I'm 20, only 3 years until I'm 18, and only ONE year until I can get my permit!!

Unfortunately for me, I'm not getting a thing. Laptop for Christmas, you know? Sigh. Sometimes I hate having my birthday only a week after Xmas.
