Because I've been trying to do them without much luck. for those who don't know, they're a beefy fantasy race, usually tough, green skinned, pointy eared, and toothy.

He's done in shades of brown, outdoorsy, and kinda sun-worn wrinkly. Like a cowboy, or a weathered soldier for hire. Mostly good for brown ink exercises and mono-colour practice.

It's a skull, which is also an apple, and there's a snake. You know you want to.

They're ugly and I think it would be challenging to make a beautiful one.

If anyone knows some good style how-tos in the resource section let me know.
otherwise I think I'll go for photo references and and go that direction. Simplicity is that much more difficult in that you have far fewer lines in which to get it right.
If I were any sort of a good hard working artist I'd just play with it till I got it right but I've gotten used to instant gratification. Which I was going to do an expressionist painting of but I didn't. Did I mention I'm lazy?

my beta fishy's tail fin split. not sure what that means but he's different to draw now.
also I just realized I can see his tank plant right through him.


So the character is an orc who's decided (after years and travel and doing adventurous stuff) she's going to be a cook, which's made me go looking for fun images of kitchens and stills of cooking shows. Does anyone else like cooking shows? I miss iron chef, I don't get the food network anymore.

I've also decided that talking about something is the first step in making it happen, so I may post/list things I'm thinking about making from now on.

I've been medicating the heck out of his fungus but it won't go away, and my beta fishy hasn't eaten any flakes in weeks. He's getting pretty skinny and the cotton fluff on him might have eaten into his guts.
so no paintings of him.

On a lighter note the cat is fat and brat-some as ever, climbing the screen door, knocking murphy out onto the rug, climbing the window to pull down her feed bag, running out the door to meet people, running around in front of me trying to get attention, and hanging from the flat screen tv when she doesn't get any.
Puggle's current nick-names include: Pork Dumpling, Fuzz Dumpling, Heffalump, Flumpy, Hiroshima Butt, Pugglemint, and CAT!

I'm slowly getting around to things, and thinking about putting some old stuff out to scrap or out altogether.

any artists or type of art that particularilly inspires you? I'm trying to come up with journal entries... paperwork is my enemy.

I've got a week left now and nothing to drop off at the sunflower cafe before I go.
I'm in the mood to do paintings, but I need stones if I want to sell anything.
I imagine everyone who makes a living out of art does everything they hate to pay thier bills. actually I find fitting a painted form to a ditch rock and selling it for good cash pleasantly challenging and fun. but I'm still not in the mood. and I'm not out of coin just yet. curse my young naive ways.

I've pirated a couple songs by johnny cash and danko jones lately. any other suggestions, I've run out of direction. not that I ever have much.

also got a cellphone. apparently I get free text messaging in canada & U.S. till october. good for me, who'm I going to send notes to?

and um, my cat isn't doing so well, she's gotten so much lumpier and her wounds open up occasionally so I've gotten her antibiotics to tide her over till I decide a date to put her down. might have to come back home for that in the winter because she's still up and around, ticking the dog off, watching the mice eat my things, rubbing fur on my clothes, happy kitty things etc.
I mentioned I might want a budgie for a next pet, though it would have to stay here and keep my mother company. I went looking at parrots and the such yesterday, the expensive ones are great characters but a $700 bird on sale for $500 is still too much for me. even if he did do that little dance and shine that lovely green, with bits of rust and cobalt.
maybe I will get budgies, I don't really feel like cleaning fish tank.

Anyhow I’ve been painting again and somehow I’d forgotten that scanners don't pick up neon colours. I've dealt with this before but I do seem to remember that I was defeated.

and in other news my cat still has lumps and the vet gave me antibiotics to see if they're just infections. i swear that cat is going to cost me my tuition and still outlive me.

I'm so fat with a PH that i spell it with an F. at this point getting things solved will involve resisting distraction. which means i should just check myself into a clinic and i'd be fine and dandy for a while.

anywho

i was in a car accident last night
the part that bothered me the most was walking along the side of the highway after in the freezing cold and night, to go find help
with glass in my feet *grumble*

so about the 650 deviations and 120 journals i haven't read
i intend to skim them for eyecatching titles then delete the lot
so i'm asking anyone who cares enough of my oppinion to read my journals, to also do me the favour of pointing out your proud acheivements by linking me to them or whatnot
