(060) Life on other planets: No, I'm really so stuck-up as to think that somehow this single planet was the only one on which life in any form could possibly have developed that we alone are special. I really think that's why people don't believe in aliens- and also why we have to insist animals are dumb creatures. It's like we, as a species, have such low self-esteem we can only feel good by feeling like we're the only one who have this "gift".
(061) Miracles? Int he sense of God coming down and smiting people or rewriting the cosomos or whatever? No.
(062) Astrology? It's interesting, but I don't really trust it.
(063) Magic? Today's magic is tomorrow's science. I believe there are a great many things that people do and that happent hat we cannot explain- but that we will be able to explain, and prove, in the future.
We knew the earth was flat, it was the center of the universe, and that the earth was one giant continent surrounding a single ocean. Who knows what we'll know in a few centuries.
(064) God? Not in the typical sense. Do I think it's some all-powerful, all-knowing being that strangely resembles a human and happens to be sentient and looks down and says "hmm, that guy should be smote and that guy should be rewarded" and then meddles? No. God is more a force in the way that gravity or friction are forces. They aren't alive, they don't consciously say to themselves "hey, let's pull things/slow things", they just do. God isn't some omnitient being, he's just the force that causes all those unexplainable coincidences and makes it so you can never find your keys and whenever you bring something to be repaired it never makes that noise.

(066) Santa? No. But if he were alive, he'd be a pedophile.
(067) Ghosts? Again, not in the typical sense, but we don't know what happens when you die- so maybe it's possible that your "soul" or whatever sticks around.
(068) Luck? Yeah. It's probably not luck-luck so much as some quality about a person that makes them lucky, like that one friend who can break the rules and never get caught but if you did the exact same thing you'd be completely busted.
(069) Love at first sight? Maybe.... but seems kind of unlikely. Infatuation, lust, etc seem more likely. I guess love could.
(071) Witches? As in "flies around on brooms with wands and casting spells"? No. I believe Wiccans call themselves witches, though, and they exist.
(072) Easter bunny? Another pedophile!
(073) Fidelity? Yes. I also believe in polyamory, though, so I don't believe that fidelity=monogamy. But cheating is one of the worst things a person could do. It'd take a very specific situation for me to think it was a valid option, and that'd be a damn unlikely situation.

There are only 3 pages up, 2 you've seen and one you haven't (I switched the order a bit), but there'll be 6 total by the end of the week- and then update weekly until I figure out how many I can reliably do, at which point hte schedule'll pick up.

Hopefully I'll get some actual art up here, too. I'm working on a non-binary gender logo for a genderqueer dating site (no pay, but it's fun) so maybe I'll put that up when it's done.

I'm thinking of quitting webcomics for awhile. When I was first doing woaG, it was mostly for me. I intended to put it up someday, but I had no rush and ended up drawing them almost constantly. Now I'm putting it off until the last second because I'm actually updating on a schedule.

Right now I'm just not in a place that's good for webcomics or schedules, as mugh as I'd love to do them. I might still work on them, when I feel like it, but for a spell all I did was webcomics and never art "for fun" (not that comics aren't fun, but y'know).

So, yeah, quitting webcomics. :/ Hope it turns out okay, but, heck, when does anything work out the way you want it?

So, thanks to a random doodle I'm once again evolving a story idea. But there's a catch- basically, the gist is that the main character's trans way back in medieval times (poor girl, no surgeries and I doubt they had hormones).

so... now or the difficulty. Do I want this to be a pivotal part of hte story? Should it become some comment on how people treat transsexuals in general, possibly a tragedy since they happen all too often.

Or do I want there to be some other plot with actual action that's unrelated, adn this just happens to be her backstory, with the double-life aspect aiding things along?

I could try both... but then it'd accent on the latter. Meh. This is one problem about letting Pride inspire you- you end up realizing that you don't want to actually write about it.

AP exams are right on the horizon. Well, one's at 8 tomorrow morning, so I their on the horizon in much the same way the Iceberg was on the horizon of the Titanic. So, I've been stressing. A good way to deal with stress is to draw (between studying). Because of this, I've sketched ~Smcantrell's prize picture and that's also the cause of the Firefly Test. So, I'm not dead.

May be a little zombified, though.

Ok, our neighbors moved out last week. It was kind of suddena nd I don't know the details of it, but they're gone. Unfortunately, their bird didn't go with them.

So, right now, we've got a parakeet sitting on our porch and we aren't sure if they'll come back for the poor thing or not. I think it's a parakeet, that's what mom said anyways. I know nothing about birds, all I know is it's blue, white, black and had a FIT when my kitty started checking the cage out. (Patches loves birds and flying things. Caught a bee when he was a kitten, limped shaking his paw for a little while after. x3)

Um. Yeah. Bird. o_o

Also- dad's scanner sucks. It killed my page somehow, something went wrong and so the lineart was a bunch of black & white dots in the general shape of the lineart. I tried shrinking it down, it just got worse. -_- bah. Here I am making comic progress and it DIES.

I survived 2 tests and a midterm this morning. I had no idea how to find an equation, forgot half the German verbs, and studied the completely WRONG part of history for the midterm. But, I survived 2 tests and a midterm.

Anyways, it's an extended, so I get 3 days to do absolutely nothing. And by nothing, I mean that I need to get the following done:

Read as much of AP Bio book as is humanly possible
Hopefully finish 3+ pages of comic
Read A Clockwork Orange
Get to work on art I owe from the contest (Ryan got links up and stamps done! He hasn't been too lazy... did he forget to do a journal feature?)
Figure out how to do work-out stuff at home

So... if Ry doesn't do that, somebody hit him upside the head. Only, um, not too hard. I don't need a concussion.

Is it normal to feel so dead after 10 minutes on the treadmill? I thought endorphins would be involved, but I'm just sore. I really wish I could say it was 10 minutes straight running, too. And I keep going back, if the gym opened by 6 or 7 I'd be heading over twice a day. I think I'm now the gym's bitch.

On the bright side, I've been getting back on my feet. I really wish I could say that this was because of some inner strength, but I'm pretty sure that the real reason will last all of a week. Anyways, I think I'll be able to get some art done. Or at least some comics. I actually finished the script for the rest of the chapter, adn after this page it's all downhill artwise.

So... first, to contest winners, I have not forgotten about you. I actually got the links up on all the mirror MtL sites. (3 of them) I'll get on your pictures either after I've gotten a decent buffer built, or after I get sick to death of drawing the dagg comic. That happens sometimes, especially when the people/outfits/setting don't change enough.

I'm sorry, ~Smcantrell it's a lovely outfit, but there reaches a point where you want to STAB IT TO DEATH. I don't know how the comics in newspapers do it. I'd go insane, drawing the same person and clothes every friggin' day. @_@

After much debating and the fact my new haircut apparently looks pixie-like (from the same girl who says I have Jesus shoes), I shoved aside the whole 'Mrs Lovett' idea and just went with goth fairy.

I've made a discovery: goth is expensive. That or I just never notice the price tag on clothes. I feel a lot better about it when I look at how much I coulda ended up spending on prom if mom ever talked me into going, though. I still want to see if they'll let me keep the money for the graduation cap/gown cost and just find a way to get banned from graduation. I plan on not going, anyways, and with college right on the horizon I feel like spending as little money as possible between then and now.

So, now that I finished with the journal bit that explains the financial situation, I have a question that effects you-

Anything I can do to make people want commissions?

And, no "get your art so it's decent you lazy jerk" isn't quite what I was hoping for. Neither is "get rich friends that don't mind spending their money on junk" or "draw porn". I meant price/free-advertising wise.

Jamie reminded me that Animazement is coming up and it'll be my 4th and last year going, so I feel like cosplaying this time. Does anyone have any experience in this? Would Mrs Lovett be too hard? [link]

I've never really tried the gothic thing, and I know it's got a lot of frills and makeup, but I feel like seeing if it's at least possible. Does anyone have advice on how to do this?

I found Serenity: Those Left Behind. We were out running errands, near the comic store, and something just hit me and I said "hey, can I check for something?" I found it.

It's only the first one, and I finished it already, but I have it.

So, review time. Only I'm lame at reviewing so it'll be quick.

Spoiler Warning

The art tries to stay true enough to how the actors look. I'm really not a fan of how they draw Kaylee, but I never liked her much so that might be why. I've read too few american or whatever you call 'em style novels to know if it's actually any good for fans of that, but it's done well enough. As usual, I don't like the way they drew the blood: but I do like how, when they were in 0 gravity, they actually drew the blood like it was floating between the camera and the crew.

I know Joss wrote this, but most of my doubts are plotwise. Shepherd Book punched Mal. Sucker-punched, really. Mal provoked him by saying that words meant nothing, and Book didn't even practice what he preached, and Book punched him (though this may be as much for Mal's treatment of Inara as any personal hurt). Ok, I can see that they're playing up the whole "I think I got on the wrong boat" thing: but that's another problem.

He leaves because he punched Mal. Mr. "it's a bit fuzzy on the subject of kneecaps". Mr. "Is this Adelai Niska we're talking about?" Mr. 'Knows more about the Alliance's inner-workings than the Alliance'. Mr, as Jubal put it, "That ain't a shepherd." He leaves over a sucker-punch? I'm hoping this is 'straw that broke the camel's back' thing, but that seemed a really bad reason for him to leave. Or maybe he just doesn't want to be on there without Inara's voice of reason.

I dunno, it's hard taking acting and putting it to books. Thankfully they put the actual chinese characters instead of pulling a fangirl and sounding it out or doing junk. But some of it was a bit weird. killing Badger's people like they did, for example. Maybe I missed something, but they'd never actually hurt Badger's people.

Overall it wasn't that bad, if you really like the series it'll at least knit together a few loose ends (please remember that I only read one book) and it's not horrible.

So, I got my first fav from somebody over 100k pageviews today. ...along with half of dA.

I was almost feeling special when I noticed they had this GIANT spike in pageviews today, seriously, this thing is huge- about 8k today, and 50-1500 the past month. So I glanced at their front page. Within minutes of posting my own 'thanks for the fav' message, it was almost bumped off hte page by a flood of OTHER 'thanks for the fav' messages.

This person had faved over a thousand pictures in the past HALF HOUR.

Ok, you know what, at first I thought those people lobbying for a limit on favs were being stupid because I thought they were talking about people like me who go periods of time not really browsing, fav about a hundred things a day, then go back to not browsing. No-ho-ho-ho-ho, they meant these attention whores that, I swear, sit on the front page and fav EVERY damn thing.

I now remember why I use apple. I get waaay too addicted to the games that come with windows.

_{I swear to the Gods, every single one of htem ever put down into a religion, if my applications weren't all mac-only I would quit apple right now.

If anyone's ever seen me and is shocked by this, well, yes, I still do love my computer. But, as usual, the parents somehow produced an awesome kid despite being complete fuckers.

I had my old computer for 3 years, at least. I spilled tea and miso soup on it, mom kept taking away the battery as punishment for me, it probably sustained a few bangs in its time just because I was a young teen and a klutz. I had one screen problem. Nothing big. On my new computer, same model and not quite as old, the hard drive died three months ago. They replaced it. I had warning, though, so I was able to back up most things I had the ability to realize I needed (my poor photos got no love).

Three months ago, right? Yeah. It up and died even more completely on monday. No warning. I turned it off sunday night, monday morning it couldn't read any hard drive, not even the external. Ok. that's... great.

Now they're replacing it again. Then what? Maybe 3 weeks? Yeah, this isn't working for me.

Whoever hires the morons that fix the damned apple computers, I want them shot. Not dead, but in both kneecaps and dropped somewhere in the middle of nowhere so they've got no chance of survival and a good chance of dieing slowly and horribly. Every damn time I bring my baby in to get it fixed it comes back with another problem. EVERY time.

I don't know why I keep bringing it back, either. Ask my parents.}

If anyone actually cares, I'm pretty sure that I've got an art theif, a picture of theirs and another deviant's appear to be separated at birth.

Advice on what I ought to do here?

Ok, I was thinking on it- and decided that I'm definitely going to try and get up one photography feature a month.

Just the way to start every monday. Went to turn on my computer- didnt work. OK, let's try turning it on to the other drive. Didn't even read either of them. YEah... that's a great sign.

So, um, yeah, I'm not spazzing out. At all. Nope, perfectly calm. 100%. Not like I had a presentation on tht that I need to do today. Not like I've got more than a few files I haven't backed up and have grown attached to. Not like I've already last all my photos and will look like a total idiot for doing it again. ...wait. Dammnit.

Here's how it actually effects things:
1. Anything I was working on that was just on computer/I don't have here I can't work on.
2. Everything I do'll be done with photoshop elements. And a windows. (I keep hitting Alt-Z because that's where the ctrl button is on macs! D: )
3. I can't work on the WoaG script (thank god I printed out the MtL one)
4. I' using a windows. Which means a weird keyboard. so... maybe fewer typos, actually. o_O but I'll also be more twitchy.
5. I'll be in semi-constant flipflopping from "OHGODMYFILESINEEDTHEMKILLMENOOOOWWWW" and "It's ok... it's gonna be ok. I'm calm"

Ok, I went to the page of popular deviations. Set it to '24' just for my ease. Decided to have a bit of fun seeing what we here on dA like.

7 are anime fanart, 5 of Naruto.

6 involve a girl that's scantily clad.

At least 9 have no background or just a simple texture/whatever as a background

3 non-photos have taken a stab at perspective and done a bang-up job.

2 are just backgrounds.

There is no literature, not even in the top 120.

Could be worse.

Most typos I can explain because I was listening to/thinking of something else and typed that instead- once I can't do that my brain's not in the right mind for anything.

For when I get back alive- anyone got suggestions on that whole "draw what you see" thing? Like where you draw a cloth or something? I've been trying that and have not proven any good at it.

Thankfully the glitch is no more. *triumphant pose* I can actually see my friends now, always a shiny thing.

Anyways, been awhile since I submitted an actual picture, eh? yeah, still feeling off from that... whatever I came down with. Have been working on =forbiddenhero's picture and the balance (I can't do functional that well, so I balance it by sometimes pausing to draw something totally effed up), and finished sketching it. Should be inking soon- just have to make sure my hand's not going to say "straight lines? What're those? We like wobbly!" on me. >_<

Also- I revamped my journal _{(I really hope you could tell)}. It's not totally done, you might notice the edges of the headers are a bit white, but it's pretty much done. any thoughts on it?

I spend too much time reading LICD... I tihnk it twists my brain.

I lost my pencil yesterday, in my room so I wasn't freaking out. But then I found it- which is very good as I'd be lost without it. Until I found a better one, I mean. This likely sounds stupid- since it's just a broken mechanical pencil, but it's also my favorite. And I missed it. And I spent the day forgetting freckles and writing on a picture and coming up with an idea for yet another picture I'll not finish for months. And it's fanart. Of girls. In ancient freaking outfits.

I think this is a sign hell's frozen over. I'm hoping for snow or an ice storm.

Ok, this is probably the 5th time I've looked at the Phantom Kitty script and went "unholy frig, I thought I finished way more of it! What was I doing all that time when I was reading the first chapter?!". Apparently just reading. But I do this, realize I've got 1 page scripted, and it's the page I already finished, and then go back to not working on it. I wonder if I'll ever start a project and not think "I'm never finishing this, am i?" at at least one point.

On the bright side, based on MtL, I think I'm getting better at this. It's all scripted, and I've got 2 pages ahead and 2 pages waiting to be finished.

On Kiriban: I finally decided on the next kiriban numbers- 3413, 4056, 5252. I'll figure out what I'll do after that later, probably won't continue doing one every 1000, htough.

If you're sexual (read:like having sex. Don't get on me about how I reproduce by budding, it stopped being funny) don't read this if you might get insulted by the suggestion that somebody thinks you're weird for it!

I don't get sexuals. This might sound weird since I automatically assume everyone's sexual (99% of the chance I'm right!), and you'd figure that expecting this should mean I don't get surprised when I realized they really are sexual. However, it totally FLOORS me when I realize just HOW sexual people are.

Really, I get the whole "we like having sex". But I don't get it, so I don't see this as the same way normal people do. When I realize how much people seem to have their lives around it. It's exercise that results in babies! If you saw two people wrestling, would you get your heart broken that the guy who lost doesn't call the next morning?!

Why do I mention this? Surprise surprise- WRRD. The same one that can't look at a beautiful painting without going "Oh my god, that guy's naked! hur hur, we're looking at PORN". Because, as you know, the human body is a totally sexual thing. If I wave my hand in your face, are you gonna get all hot and bothered?! No. you've seen millions of hands. Why would a chest or genitals be any different? Look online- see if you can go anywhere without finding a picture of a guy or girl trying to sell you something with their body.

And today we talk about Hamlet. Did he sleep with Ophelia? She did go crazy and sing about how the guy said he'd've married her if she hadn't slept with him. Now, first, this is a REAL great argument for sexuality. You act on your impulses and end up getting your heart crushed- I can really see how they get so into this. Hey, I think I'll go hug someone even though every time I do I suffer emotional trauma as a result. Soon I'll be so completely emo that I keep hugging people because "maybe this one will love me for it". Right.

So why does it make sense he slept with the psycho? Because then it'd make her "betrayal" that much worse.

What. The. Hell.

Did I miss the memo where getting stabbed in the back by someone you loved with all your heart only matters if you threw off your clothes and fumbled around under the covers for a few minutes? When did we decide that the only way you really love someone is when you sleep with them? No matter we've got so many pregnant freshmen running around- the guys feel like they have to shag every girl to be adequate and the girls feel like they have to sleep with a guy to prove she loves him. God forbid two people might show up who love each other and don't want to do anything R-rated when they sleep together, because they don't love each other. They're just friends- which is possibly the worst fate imaginable, right?

Hamlet's spent the entire damn play bitching about how sex is disgusting. This couldn't possibly be that he's just a repulsed ace, because everyone wants sex. It's because his first time with Ophelia didn't go that well. And this was because the first time sucks, not because he just wasn't into it. Maybe that was what drove Ophelia insane, she couldn't get one asexual guy turned on. Clearly she's a total failure, she's gotten a guy that loves her that much and isn't just trying to get into her pants.

I don't know if Hamlet was asexual, I don't care. But why can't it be an option?! Why is everything judged based on sex? If they really wanted to get us to abstain- wouldn't they be trying to PUSH the normality of people that don't like sex rather than ignoring it?!

And that's what floors me. Sexuals are so attached to it that they'll fail to notice the obvious solution because, ohnoes, some kid might realize they're real sexuality and be happy about it.

I must say, there is really nothing like starting to write something while watching Red Dragon and realizing that you're character was laying in the exact same way as Hannibal Lecter, even feigning sleep as he was.

Though, i gotta say, Johnny has his moments but I want to see the original Sweeney Todd as a movie. It's much different and a bit more fascinating. Mostly, though, I'd like to hear his laugh.

They've got a bunch of buy 3 for 2 sales on DVDs around, and every time I went to one of the stores, I thought that there was SOMETHING I wanted to get, never could remember. I finally remembered: A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum.

So we set out on the quest to find it. And in the process, of course, got about 3 others. (ignoring the ones mom got from the video rental place that's closing so has everything on sale)

Fortunately enough, we finally found it. So I finally have what might be my favorite musical (I even named a character from it). And Red Dragon, Labyrinth, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.

Of course... now I almost have to make an animation from one of the songs because of the character I named from AFTHotWttF. What is it with me and animations and musicals and songs?

I have curly hair. I take pride in this. It's gorgeous, requires little work if you care for it. Is a bitch to draw, especially since I've got pride making me want to do it right. Witch is probably impossible since 'right' involves no lineart and this will have lineart
On the list of "Hm"s is the fact that I'm planning an animation that'll be about 3 minutes long with full animation/background/etc. With lip syncing through most of it. Are I not brilliant at taking this on?

And, my favorite. Anyone seen futurama? Know the one with Fry's dog? Saw it today. It didn't fully sink in at first. Then I'm drawing, listening to Sweeney Todd off the world- and then it gets to the end. "Don't I know you?" ... I almost cried for that poor puppy.
_{(yes, I did listen to a movie about people dieing and getting et, and cried over a dog. Pierce is a bad influence)}

Yesterday I found out I got a 710 on the bio SAT2.

Got my first college acceptance letter today. I do want to go there, even if it's not my top choice, and it's nice having even a tiny bit of certainty, even if I was pretty damn sure I'd get in.

I figured out what I'm going to do with physics.

I got Adobe Web Premium (Photoshop, Illustrator, Flash, Dreamweaver CS3 LOVE) for about $250.

I really should be happy about this. But, really, I'm just... bleh.
