Sometimes I really like freecycle. Freecycle is "free" and "recycle" combined and it's a yahoo group. What you do is look up freecycle and join up with the group in your area, and if you need something in particular, like say, hollowed out eggs you type in "Wanted: Hollowed out eggs". Well I did so, but asked for goose eggs since they're a bit larger than chicken eggs and I wanted to try something different. I got only one response, but the person had an OSTRICH EGG!
Apparently it was just sitting in their closet gathering dust so the nice lady gave it to me. Those things have such a thick shell, it feels and sounds like porcelain. It's such a neat thing to have that I don't want to break it (which is how I made my blue rose egg, once the polymer is cooked you chip out or dissolve the egg) so I'm thinking of making polymer eggs in two parts, top and bottom, and joining them with translucent liquid sculpey.
So prepare yourselves for some titanic eggs! Oh, and just because I have to share some trivia with you, the ostrich actually lays the smallest egg proportionately to it's body. So if a hummingbird and an ostrich were the same size, the hummer's egg would be much larger than the ostrich's. Also,CHOCOBOS REALLY EXISTED.

I know we're nearly all starving artists here, but certain events have reduced my bank account to 0. This is not a good thing when I have student loans, rent, basic necessities, upcoming doctor's check up, a kitten's vet bills, and random things like that to pay off. To top it off, my computer is dying. >_<

So, if you were ever thinking "hey I wonder if I could buy that from her" when you saw something in my gallery, the answer is yes, as long as I still have it.

If you want to commission me for a mask, the pricing list is here: [link] to give you an idea of what you can ask for.

You can also commission a polymer clay sculpture like these: [link] or wearable things like this: [link] and this: [link]
Or even horns like these: [link]

Hell, if you live close enough to me, you can commission a super hero cake like this guy if you want! [link]

The first ten people who comment on this journal will have me go through their gallery and pick my three favorite deviations, which in turn will be featured in this journal.

The catch is that to qualify, you MUST post a similar journal, or already be participating in this project.

So come on people, who wants to be featured and commented on?

Ok first up is
The three I've picked to feature are "Negative Creep" [link] , "Up The Hickory" [link] , and "Plotting" [link] Wolftailthefox has a gallery loaded with poetry photo manips and lots and lots of tail. ;D Ok not that kinda tail, the furry kind! :: snerk :: Ok ok, not I'm done being pervy...For now. >;D

Second up is
Her three are:
"Fishy" [link] , "Val - Gryphon" [link] , and "Untitled Dragon - Front View" [link] Someone's a D&D geek! ^_^ .......Besides me! And a ren-faire goer too. Naiomi does lots of sculpts and lovely coloring jobs, and I think I've been inspired to work on my freakin' dragons now, so thanks Naiomi!

Third is
Three I picked for her are:
"Red" [link] "Nightmare Beast" [link] and "Trek" [link] Kaasha does lots of playing with polymer clay in interesting ways, plus great photos of unusual critters like pale sparrows, koalas and tigers.

Fourth up is
Her three are:
"Yelling at golfballs..." [link] , "..something different.." [link] and "WIP - pencil" [link] Simply Zippy has loads of celebrity graphite drawings (and at least one game character that my guy recognized from across the room. )

Fifth on the list is
A fantastic seamstress, its hard to pick which one is a favorite over the others!
"Swirly Purple"
[link]
Just beautiful, the pattern on the fabric only adds to the shape of the corset, and the finished product looks better than something you'd find in a specialty shop.
"Victorian Outfit"
[link]
If you aren't impressed by this dress, and the underdress that was also made for it, be freaking stunned by the time it was done in...Under 10 days, if I read right. Amazing.
"Juggernaut"

Tagged by ~emeemo

Rules:
The first player of this "game" starts with the topic "Six Weird Habits/Things About Yourself" and people who get tagged need to write a journal about their six Weird Habits/Things as well as state this rule clearly. In the end, you need to choose the next six people to be tagged and list their names. Don't forget to leave a comment that says "You are tagged" in their devPage comments and tell them to read yours.

1) I don't feel right when eating unless I can strip my food of its "flesh" and slowly torture it to death...For instance, I'm now peeling the cheeze off my pizza and eating it, then I nibble off the bottom of the crust (its a challenge, but I can get it done!) and only then eat the middle. I also peel my grapes, wound up really disturbing my guy by feeding him one.

2) I have supertaste. Everything has a flavor to me, I can taste water, and (unfortunately in most cases) I can taste a scent on the air. I suppose it would come in real handy if someone tried poisioning me, or detecting tainted food, but spicey and bitter foods are intolerable to me. Taco Bell tacos are almost too spicey for me to eat, and I need a drink by me when I do eat them. If I have coffee, its MUST be loaded with sugar and cream.

3) I'm a dyscalculate. What that means is that like a dyslexic, I find it really hard to concentrate on a certain thing, the meaning of it just acts like fluid cupped in my hands, and I'll often reverse things, but instead of it being words, its numbers for me. Its taken me years to figure out how to do the simplest of math, and if I don't constantly practice, I forget how to do it. Because of it, I also can't remember a person's name worth a damn (unless its something unusual, or a nickname) and music, sports and some games are so tied into math that I can't figure them out. Conversely, I'm quite good at figuring out spatial stuff and reading.

4) I go into ecstacies if my back is itched just right.

5) Yes, I do bite, so don't try itching me.

6) Unlike a lot of people, I have less than no desire to bear and raise children. In fact, I'd just as soon have an alien stick its ovipositor down my throat, lay its parasitic larvae in my chest and have said larvae burst out of my chest. So yeah, not a fan.

I now hereby tag... ~cre8vsteph *DemonicNeko ~Glori305 *mllebienvenu ~sailorearth13 *snuurg

If you think this style is likely to be attractive to buyers, I made three more in this style, a horse, cat, and dragon head, so I'll be adding those to my gallery soon.

I actually won something from the radio station! For quite a while now, I've been doing the whole "visit the radiostation's webpage and entering contests" thing, and this week I actually won a Nintendo DS Lite and tickets to the nintendo fusion tour, meet the headlining band backstage and play with the nintendo Wii. Just got back from doing that tonight, the Wii was done very well, it did take some getting used to, but very intuitive, I'm sure that my mom would like the bowling game that you can play on it. Only thing that sucked was that the controller was on a cord, so that would whip around when doing some of the stronger movements. I actually like the moving the controller around thing, because right from the dawn of console games, you KNOW that you would try jumping around with the controller to move your guy around, and now it actually works! When everyone was admitted (we had to go out and enter with everyone else) it got super fucking smokey fast, (asshats) but we got to play with the DS lites. I once tried playing the metroid game on it, but apparently that demo sucked, because it was so much easier to play these other games than that one. I wound up playing this utterly rediculous game called "Elite Beat Agents", the storyline is as fucked up as you possibly can make it, as in, purposefully ill-translated japanese mixed with men in black suits and shades dancing to music to make the storyline progress correctly. You have to tap numbered circles at the right times while music is playing, and for each correct beat the men in black dance their moves, when the song ends if you did well enough, you move on to the next story. SOOOO wierd, but really fucking funny. They also had Final Fantasy III, which I just looked at a bit, they made the characters look like the FF Tactics Advance but has the free-range world movement that's from the regular FF games. Whew, fun stuff.
However, when the first band went on, we needed earplugs (got them from one of the workers there, thanks dude!), then after playing a couple more games, decided we were starving, and that the band pretty much sucked, and by the time good music came on we'd be ill from lack of food, so we left. Hey, free tickets, and got to play some games, not a bad night.

On another note...I need cash, badly. I think I'm going to have to sell my Nintendo DS Lite, unless I can actually sell some of my sculptures or something, because I'm drowning in student loans and hospital bills. I really wish my masks had sold, because then I'd make more masks to sell, but since my first ones aren't going there's no reason to think that making more would make them sell any better. Everyone seemed to like my teeny dragon, maybe I could try selling those...

* Person running the ad gets one free punch from the person he's bashing.
* Keep the ad up, but have everything said in a decepticon voice.
There's also just enough time for me to custom-make a mask for you, but not for much longer!
I'm also selling horns like the ones here: [link] or here: [link]
Small smooth ones are $10 (up to two colors) and twisties are $15. Add $3 for each additional color past the first two.

Man, every now and again one or another of my wisdom teeth decides to be a bitch, and for the past few days one of them's been a total bitch. Don't know if its growing again, or if the gums in that area are infected or what, but it fucking hurts, hurts my face, my ear, giving me a spike of a headache at times. The other week I called the dentist to make an appointment (before this started hurting, I just need to go fill in the cavaties I'm sure I have) and I won't get in until next month! Fucking students. This town winds up overflowing with them when the semester starts up again.

In other news, the library here had been vandalized lately, some shitheads decided it'd be funny to smash in a few windows with rocks. Windows in the children's section, no less. After those windows were fixed, it happened again. A friend of mine works there, and she said they had no clue who did it, since it happened after hours both times. Well today I get off work and walk over to the library, when I get in the doors there's about five black kids who were maybe 11, 12 years old, one of them was maybe older. Well one of them begs me for .50 cents for bus fare, I tell him that the fare is a buck, but sure ok, I give him some change, well one of his friends holds out his hand, so I give him the rest of it (mostly pennies and crap). Pretty wierd, but whatever.
I go into the library, pay off my late fees (hey, I figure I'm helping pay for new books, alright? ) and walk outside only to see a cop car pulled up in front, and two officers frisking those kids. I go sit down to wait for my bus, and overhear one of the cops say something about "broken window", and the oldest of the kids is waving his arms around saying "Hey I'm too old for stuff like that! I didn't do that!" So I'm kinda pissed that I gave change to the little shits who broke the windows at the library. While I'm waiting, I notice a pack of nasty cigarrettes on the ground next to me, which I fucking hate for two reasons, they're nasty, and its littering when the trash can is FIVE FUCKING FEET AWAY. So I pick it up and toss it, and right then the oldest one yells something, I think those might have been his cigarettes. FUCKING GOOD. Actually, I should have asked him if they were his, just to see him hang himself in front of a cop when he's obviously too young to legally have them. Ah well.
Bus come, I get on, and the guy who works at the book store at the mall is on, so I tell him about the kids. We pass by them, and he laughs, says that they had just been tossed out of the mall earlier for getting in a shouting match about "who called who a bitch first". Yeah, these kids are going far in life. Depressing shit.

Here's a tip for all of you who consider spawning sometime in the future. Once you have a kid, EVERYTHING changes. You WON'T be able to do all the crap you do now without FIRST tending your child. Not only do you have to take care of your kid, but you also have to be aware of just how your kid is interacting with the rest of the population. For instance, I attempted to watch King Kong yesterday. I say "attempted", because what happened was some shit faced kid kept kicking my seat every other minute, and when I say kick, I mean SHOVE WITH BOTH FEET. Having your seat lurch around might be great at an amusement park, but not at a freaking movie theater. Right in front of me was another kid who was bouncing all over the place too. This shouldn't have happened, for three reasons, two of which are because that kid shouldn't have been there in the first place.
1. A three hour movie is not for kids. Not only can their attention span not freaking handle it, but they physically can't hold still that long, they need to run around/go to the bathroom/spazz out and blow off steam.

2. PG 13 is given that rating because its NOT FOR KIDS. Its NOT a happy little Disney flick with sing along songs and all that shit, its a movie with lots of stuff that kids simply don't care about, and don't want to see, which results in more of the bouncing all over the freaking place.

3. That kid's freaking parents should have stopped him right the fuck away, and if he kept doing it, taken him out of the theater, since he obviously wasn't enjoying the movie enough to actually watch it, and was ruining someone else's experince.

Some people may whine "Well we want to go out and have a good time too!" Well then, socialize your little beast, or leave it at home with a sitter. I've seen kids actually sit and behave themselves when at theaters/resturants/public situations, so it IS possible. If you have to leave your movie/whatever to take your kid aside for a time out and you get pissed about it, well YOU decided to have the kid in the first place, nobody else did, so don't make other people suffer for YOUR freaking decisions. My friend has a 3 year old that behaves better than that kid behind me did, who must have been over twice his age. Why is that? Because 1. my friend wouldn't take her kid to a situation where he'd be forced to sit for a long amount of time when he's not able to do so. 2. She wouldn't take him to someplace where he'd be bored out of his skull because he doesn't understand what's going on, and so invent some annoying as hell "games" to amuse himself, and 3. When he DOES act up, she sits his ass down in immediate time-out, and if that's in the middle of a store, resturant, or at home, its done right then so he KNOWS that something he did wasn't right, and not going to be put up with. </endrant>

1. Cat fur is annoying as hell to keep out/pick out of sculpey.

2. Don't freaking bother trying to use pearl acrylic in an airbrush gun.

3. I like super sculpey, it never dries out (which is what I'm used to from working with clay) only really starts loosing its shape if you put it into some unreasonable shape or gets too warm, both of which are easily solved by making an armature or leaving it alone a bit/ sticking it in the fridge, its not all that stinky, even when cooking (I was scared that it was going to smell horrible, but it wasn't anything compared to sitting next to someone on the bus who's bathed in perfume)

On other news, make sure that you turn on the option for getting notified when people submit scraps entries, its not automatically turned on. They used my favorite Punisher comic for reference, and you can tell, because although its dark, and horrible things are being done, it doesn't get caught up in itself and become some huge ego trip. I'm definitely buying this movie when it comes out on DVD.

For those of you interested in getting a handmade mask made to your specifications, I have a price chart. Prices are subject to change, for instance, if you want silver leaf covering the entire thing like in my silver dragon mask [link] , that will definitely be more than a $10 charge.

Plain Leather Mask (base price of all masks)- $25.00
Complex Cuts (holes, rough edges)- $5.00-$10.00
Complex Dying (shading, patterns)- $5.00-$10.00
Embossed Patterns (scales, lines)- $15.00-$30.00
Additions (fur, feather, beads)- $5.00-$10.00
Overly Large Features (wings, curly horns, full face)- $5.00-$20.00
Silver/Gold Leaf- $5.00-$15.00
Studs, Spikes, Stitching- $5.00
Leather Bracelet- $7.50

A plain leather mask can be dyed any simple color (red, blue, etc.) White dye goes under "Complex Dying" because of the difficulties white dye causes. An example of this type of mask would be here: [link] and for the white plus oversized here: [link]

* An example of a "Complex Cut" would be the Green Dragon [link]

* An example of "Complex Dying" would be the spots on the Sabertooth [link]

* "Embossed Patterns" can only be made on thick leather, so I'm limiting those to braclets. [link]

* An example of "Additions" would be the ruff and whiskers of the fox. [link]

* An example of "Overly Large Features" would be the wings of the bat [link]

* An example of "Silver/Gold Leaf" would be the trim on this mask: [link]

* An example of "Studs, Spikes, and Stitching" isn't available right now.

All masks come with a free elastic cord, or a sliding knot leather cord for $6.00 (I use a high quality leather cord which after years of constant use doesn't fray.)

I also can attatch a magnetic clasp to bracelets for a $15.00 fee, this comes with an extra pattern on leather to cover up the attachment.

I don't think she realised how incredibly cruel that was, since I doubt she knew just how much I loathed going to school. Or maybe she did and she's just evil.

Plus its been rare that I've actually seen a good trick played, most of them fall flat or are just stupid. Or worse yet, cruel. Like my psycho ex room mate from college, HER idea of a "Really funny prank" was to tell her friends in highschool that she was pregnant, and let them think that the entire day. In fact, she didn't bother telling them otherwise at all. "Hahaha, isn't that so funny?!" ........No you fucking idiot, its not, you made your friends worry about you and didn't even have the decency to clue them in. I hate people. Maybe I just keep on running into the fucking idiotic ones instead of the good ones...

Some things in life are bad
They can really make you mad
Other things just make you swear and curse.
When you're chewing on life's gristle
Don't grumble, give a whistle
And this'll help things turn out for the best...

And...always look on the bright side of life...
Always look on the light side of life...

If life seems jolly rotten
There's something you've forgotten
And that's to laugh and smile and dance and sing.
When you're feeling in the dumps
Don't be silly chumps
Just purse your lips and whistle - that's the thing.

And...always look on the bright side of life...
Always look on the light side of life...

For life is quite absurd
And death's the final word
You must always face the curtain with a bow.
Forget about your sin - give the audience a grin
Enjoy it - it's your last chance anyhow.

So always look on the bright side of death
Just before you draw your terminal breath

Life's a piece of shit
When you look at it
Life's a laugh and death's a joke, it's true.
You'll see it's all a show
Keep 'em laughing as you go
Just remember that the last laugh is on you.

And always look on the bright side of life...
Always look on the right side of life...
(Come on guys, cheer up!)
Always look on the bright side of life...
Always look on the bright side of life...
(Worse things happen at sea, you know.)
Always look on the bright side of life...
(I mean - what have you got to lose?)
(You know, you come from nothing - you're going back to nothing.
What have you lost? Nothing!)
Always look on the right side of life...
