As y'all probably know, I've been crazy busy painting leetle beety miniatures for monies in addition to my regular job, and that's my current excuse for not having much to show on here of late. A very talented friend of mine, by the intarweb nickname of Elijah7, did a gorgeous job of converting a small army for Warhammer 40k; an infamous Space Marine chapter by the name of the Legion of the Damned. Well. His are the Legion of the Darned, slightly less spooky. But made of 100% ass kickery. Being that he rocks, he shipped these little beauties off to me to paint. Hey! Wow. I've been gone a long time. Yeah.
I do that sometimes. Why? I'm crazy in the head, that's why.
Plus, I guess, I haven't had much art lately. Been doodling a lot, sure, but nothing I've felt worth the time and effort to scan and clean up and throw on here. Most of my "artistic" (if you want to call it that) focus has been on painting teensy tiny minis at my new job at Games Workshop. Though I've kept my Blockbuster job too, so I'm working two jobs now. Reason #2 why I've gone MIA for so long, I suppose.

But enough excuses! I can't say I'll be doing much, but I'll do my best to keep an eye on things 'round here. To everybody on my devWATCH list, I may not have commented on anything, but I have taken the time to look over everything y'all have submitted in the months that I was absent for, and it was all awesome. One of these days I'm finally going to embrace that homicidal little voice in the back of my skull. Ok. Voices. Get technical.

To keep myself occupied to keep from murdering every slime-sucking moron that shares this miserable hovel with me (I rent a closet, ahem, I mean room), I have decided to make this little public announcement. Realizing, of course, that nobody cares.

Because I am an all-permeating force of evil, I mean... I dunno what I mean. Anyway, I've had some cameos lately in the talented works of others! So here's a Raven-fest for all none of you who're interested.

I definitely sprained my hand, it's still somewhat painful to use, but I was able to do a little drawing a couple nights ago (mostly of my World of Warcraft character 'cause I'm pathetic). Done a lot of mini-painting, but not much else constructive. Anything to keep from eviscerating everyone around me. Grah.

After a long and unannounced month "off," I've returned to push my miserable existence on you all! I took a month off from work to help my mom pack, move, and unpack again, and kinda for my own personal sanity. *Twitch* So at the time I was left with miserably slow dialup internet, and strayed far from the light of devART. Also I have this really weird thing where I get really into something that makes me happy, then a time afterwards I shy away from it for some unspoken, nonsensical reason. So I did that here, I love this place, but somehow my brain just went
"You don't feel like checking your devArt today. Or tomorrow. Sucker."
Yes I realize this sounds insane, but I have little doubt the rest of me is crazy too. Heh heh heh. So I'm sorry if any of y'all thought I was just avoiding you ('specially Sleeky, I feel guilty for not getting back to your stuff... I'm sorry). I'm just crazy.

Ok enough of the lengthy recap, for the entire none of you who have stuck with this entry through the excuse bullshit, here's what's up. Got an interview on Thursday for a potentially kickass job, working at the semi-nearby Games Workshop store. For those of you unfamiliar with GW (most of y'all I bet), they created the wonderfully/horribly addictive games of Warhammer and Warhammer 40K, which involve picking an army and painting countless tiny, expensive little bits of plastic and metal and pushing them around your kitchen table as a general. It's a black vortex that devours time and money, but it's a lot of fun. So I'd be doing retail sorta stuff, but also doing a lot of painting (and painting these minis is one thing I'm actually kinda good at!). So, further updates to come on that one.

Actual art work outside of painting a sickening amount of miniatures (mostly Skaven and Space Marines): Um. None really.
I've been doodling a lot, mostly pertaining to my WIP roleplaying game, Onceglory, and my various Warhammer notes (I created my own skaven clan.. whee). Still have some monster illustrations lying around to get scanned, and more to follow. I'm hoping I'll have more time to do some drawing again soon, but life is still a whirlwind of moronic teenage emotions. I don't wanna grow up but god damn it I want to lose the misery. Oh well. Suck it up!

Well I FINALLY got stuff scanned.
Yes, for all two of you out there, I'll have some decent new stuff.
All in all, I scanned 6 drawings... but off the bat, only one was suitable to just crop and toss on here, so consider my tribute to the Emperor's most glorified Space Wolves a teaser for things to come. The other 5 drawings all need a lot of work, two I'm going to try my paw at digital coloring ('cause it's harder to eff up compared to hardcopy coloring). Two more need lots of background cleanup to take away the icky grey of scanning. And one was just for fun (let's just say wolf, platemail, and an uzi).

Hope y'all get a kick out of my Space Wolf, dunno how many folks out there are familiar with Warhammer 40k. But if you are, you know why I'm always broke. I may also upload the lineart for my big "color project," which is my entry for Corsairs of the Black Flag's [link] art contest, featuring my evil ermine, Cap'n Ren. Long story. On a Warcraft RPG board, I chose a name of one of the demons from Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos, which was Banehallow. I liked it so much, I changed Bane to Raven, making it my own.

3. First kiss?
Years and years ago. With some swine from Louisiana. Grah. Don't ask.

Sorry I haven't said much lately.

Yawp. Anyway, things have been ok I think, my mental state has been on the rapid decline, but I had a few days off to sort myself out. So I'm still alive, and plotting some more drawings. I actually have a couple in mind as we speak, to be played with later.
Had a rather theraputic three days off. I managed to beat Half-Life over three consecutive days, watch a lot of cartoons, and read a lot of comic books with my best friend. Helpful stuff. And now I'm about to tackle Half-Life's two expansions, 'cause I can't get enough of this friggin' game.
I know I keep saying this, but the book project I've been in on the past year is REALLY close to being finished, [link] So that's something nice. Still waiting on photos of my sculptures, though I got a few crappy ones you can find here [link]

Grah indeed. Surfing around and looking at the gorgeous works of some of my favorite artists (all of whom have no idea I exist, whoo!) , such as etc etc etc etc (FAR too many to list here) has a double-edged effect on me. On one hand they make me realize how much I SUCK! ( is guilty 'cause he churns out so many awesome drawings in a short time.. grah!) On the other hand, they inspire me to improve, so that maybe oneday I could kick ass like them. I guess maybe art school might help that?

Probably. I need to work on that. But that requires me to stop spending my money on toys and books. Drat!

Anyhow, still have a couple doodles to be scanned, but it's gotten to be major crunch time for me as editor for Omniscient Projects [link] and the first book's nearly done. So that's a nice thing, I guess, and then comes more crunch time for the second book (a monster manual.. awesome!). So expect me to be flustered, busy, and maybe grouchy in the near future. Just an update 'cause I feel like it, damnit.
My Winter Hymn has been added to the for the Winter contest, woohoo. So you can check it out there if ya like. Last night kicked ass, played a brief game of Exalted (a really cinematic, anime-influenced White Wolf RPG), so maybe I'll actually try my hand at drawing people seriously (I doodle them from time to time) so y'all can see Laughing Dog, the drunken-warrior style martial arts monk, and his white wolf Sake. Was definitely the most fun I've had in a little while, and worth it to stay up so late. But 'cause of it, I got little sleep (had to get up early for work and such), so now I'll just ramble.
And say Exalted kicks ass. Yup.

Got some art on the way, did a fun little doodle today of a voodoo werewolf (I watched The Serpent and the Rainbow again...), and finished shading my other werewolf (who's nakey.. oh my). So eventually I'll get this crap scanned, and I'll chuck it somewhere on here. I think that's all I got, I need sleep. *grumble*

Twenty thousand howls of thanks to the for extending the deadline for their winter contest. After spending 4 or so hours on one eensy corner of my entry, I realized I was gonna need a lot more time. Plus I was away all this past weekend, so I kinda got fucked over for time. But yay extensions. So a hail and howl to them for kicking so much ass.

Been doodling a bit, probably gonna get some things scanned at some point in the future, I did a kind of neat sketch of my old Morrowind character decked out in his "Black Knight" regalia. I haven't gotten much done in terms of sculpture, I have the head of my next piece done, and that I'm happy with, I just need some wire and some time to do the body (big nasty wild boar, with white eyes and green body paint.. whee!).

Also got a little flyer for an upcoming exhibition by the Delaware Center for the Contemporary Arts, I think I wanna get my big bronze werewolf back from the gallery up at my old school and enter him. My only quandry is, this thingy is like, really artsy-fartsy and the whole exhibition has a theme, of "Structure." So they were talking in the flyer about the structures we live in, of our society, religion, and life.. so I was thinking I'd talk about how the structure of man 's society does not blend with the structure of nature, and thus the figure of the "Werewolf" or wolf-man is a paradox, a beauty that represents two things that may never meet. Yeah. I can bullsh*t with the best of 'em, eh? Blockbuster ain't so bad, I just innately despise all of humanity, therefore retail ain't the best place for me. But apparently I'm doing fine so far. Haven't been home in a week, I miss my PC. Third roomie dropped out on us, so now it's just my best friend and I.. but some places are lined up to be examined, money is being saved, blahdeblahdeblah. Been stressed out of my freakin mind over it, but I think things'll work out alright. Gonna stake my current base of operations over at the dwelling of one of my mom's friends, so that means I'll be on to poke my nose in things and leave my stupid two cents on everything, but things may not be scanned for a while.

Anywho. Um, long dry spell, ja? The last two digital thingybobs I was working on like, two weeks ago have remained mostly untouched. Been on a 3D binge, as I am primarly a sculptor to begin with. Spent two days last week sculpting a wolf, one of my new chars, who y'all will probably see in drawings sometime soon. Tried to get photos of it, as I was pretty proud of 15 hours of work (the face turne out awesome, and I elaborately etched nearly twenty individual little plates for his armor.. oy), but used crappy camera, and thus they're uberblurry. Will hafta get some decent ones later..

Spent the weekend with my best friend and my RPG pals, getting absorbed into Battlefleet Gothic and anticipating playing with Warhammer 40K. And of course, the artist gets to do all the work... -_-" So I painted a bunch of eensy little spaceships, and modified one with Green Stuff (gonna get my own and sculpt some of my own durn minis soon!). Got a bunch more to paint this week, but will hopefully get around to dealing with my Dracomancer and that commission.. -_-" Provided I can keep myself from going off and sculpting some more..

May also possibly contact locally popular sculptor that my mom knows real well to see if he needs an apprentice... Have been told multiple times this week that I need to find a career in sculpture. To the art news! Dananananana (oldschool Batman style)!

Spent the entire day yesterday painting. Of course, "entire day" for me dosen't include morning, since I normally don't roll out of bed till noon or later (today being an exception). So I situated myself out on the front porch and painted, with my cat to keep me company, and lots of birds out front fighting over the birdfeeders... Anyway, after about 5 or so hours of painting, I'm pretty pleased with the results, though there were quite a few points at which I got really frustrated with things (and even before I started, when I had to spend half an hour cleaning brushes my damn ex nearly ruined by not cleaning them after using them.. grrr!).l So I now have a nice little painting of a cheetah with a really really big longbow... Hopefully I'll get it scanned next week.

Also: Now begins the week I may start slowly going out of my mind (well.. moreso?). Going to be alone in a big and very old house, and with my overactive imagination that plays too many survival horrors, I'm screwed. *Clutches her two cats* Meep!

Gah!). Also been having a huge urge to paint.. so I'll probably do that soon. Definitely going to paint something furry, I'm thinking something like a cheetah or African wild dog archer, standing on a cliff and surveying the open plains below, with an arrow nocked to his bow... But ususally what I see in my mind isn't quite what I get on canvas, so we'll just have to see. ...but I guess it's more that it was just different. While other people had paintings of faces, or pastel Manet imitations, or colored pencil flowers... I had a wicked hyena standing beneath a starry sky, with a burning castle in the distance. I always was the oddball, and darn proud of it. *Grin*
I've also decided that I can never be a "starving artist" if I get a lot of gallery shows... they put out a LOT of food at these things, from the ones I've been to (at least 4 or 5, two of which had my stuff in them). In commemoration of the gallery show, I'm putting up a crummy digital photo of the painting on display. Spent the whole weekend wrapped up in cartoons/anime (Samurai Jack, and X), RPGs (FF:Crystal Chronicles and Lunar: Silver Star Story), playing with transformers (yes, I know I'm 18..), and a friend's arms.. Ok, before I get sappy.. Uh, back to the artwork, yeah. Spent a while reading over Vigil Watch: Warrens of the Ratmen, a really awesome suppliment about the Ratmen race for the Scarred Lands, a tabletop RPG, and got some interesting inspiration for some drawings/sculpture/characters. Probably have something rat-like up soon in that case!

Tomorrow headed to a reception at the county IU (place that runs all the school districts in the county) for free snacks and to say a few words about the painting I had put in their gallery last year. It's far from my best work, even for being a year old, so I'm a little nervous about what to say. Especially because I'll be in front of a bunch of school-related people (even though I'm in college now.. bleh) talking about an old painting of a furry. Have you ever tried explaining furries to some adults? Yeah. Not easy. So I'll be seeing that strangely armored hyena painting in my sleep till I can think of what the hell to say about it.

Yeah. Finished the first of two full-page illustrations for OmniPro's first book finally today. After showing the rough layout sketch to the boss, I felt miserable about doing it, his comments sucked the confidence out of me, I felt awful. But I finally sat my ass down yesterday and started to draw out the final, I felt a little better after that. Today added shading and ink, and hey, I like it! Just wait till he sees, I'll show him.. My ego flip-flops like that with my drawings. I know I'm not "great" in terms of my drawing skills, but for being pretty much self taught, I've made a lot of improvements, and I'm still improving now. So I quickly go from "I suck! Augh!" to "Hey! I'm pretty darn good, all things considered!" Usually it's a cycle, before a drawing I feel awful, after drawing it I feel great, then I look at somebody else's work and go back to proclaiming my own suckiness.
