FINALLY! After 14 weeks non-stop drawing and animating, I can proudly say that I have finished my graduation project. I just received the word that I get to pick up my degree in June, so that's good news indeed <3


Together with three 3d modelers, we've created Realm of Synai, an RPG. The modelers created a level to explore, as well as various objects that can be found on it. I was responsible for the character design and two 2d animations, of which one is an intro animation, and the other one the outro animation of the game.

You play as Kay, who just woke up from a dream that he believes contains visions of the future (intro animation). As soon as you stepped outside of Kay's house, you're free to explore the level. You can talk to the villagers, platform at various spots and you even have to solve a little quest in order to continue to the end of our demo level.

Hi everyone, I haven’t posted drawings here in a while. Am I abandoning dA? NO.

, my Sweeney Todd comic, managed to get over 500 faves. And that is all thanks to YOU. Fank you all very much <3

I’m currently working on a couple of massive animation projects. I figured if I want to get a decend job in the animation world, I need to make more animations for my portfolio. I hope to finish one of them before Christmas this year. I’ll be checking deviations and messages every day, but I won’t be uploading any drawings for now (unless my hand REALLY starts itching XD).

I’m into watching movies lately. A lot. Aside from my love for The Office US, I’m really enjoying movies with a little drama or twists in them, such as Sixth Sense, Donnie Darko, Memoirs of a Geisha, The Green Mile, Brokeback Mountain, etc. Does anyone know other great movies that are worth watching? Lemme know! I'll look into it then.

Here’s a journal entry about the five days that I spent in London last week. And boy, it sure was everything I hoped for and more. Obsiously, my cat wasn’t too keen that I’d be leaving for a couple of days. He tried to stop me from packing my things.


I love London for its people, the atmosphere, the designer toy shops (oh how I had to contain myself not to buy the stores empty), the enormous amount of soundtracks that are available, and of course for the fact that it’s the Blur-Gorillaz capital. But the actual reason I went was to see Monkey: Journey to the West, a Chinese opera made by Jamie, Damon and Chen Shi-Zheng.

On the day of the premiere, we arrived at the Royal Opera House at 6, because I received an email that you could eat your very own Monkey meal before the show started. The food hall wasn’t open until 6.30, so we decided to walk around the building. At one point, a man was sitting on a pair of steps talking in his cellphone. He looked so amazingly familiar and I had to double-check the picture of him that could be found in the Monkey program I bought to make sure I wasn’t mistaking. I wasn’t, the man in front of me was David Coulter. He’d been Damon’s music supervisor for Monkey, and could also be seen in the Imagine show about Monkey on the BBC. He seemed a bit shocked that someone recognized him, but took his time to talk to us. I told him that I saw the show back in Manchester and loved it so much that I could not resist missing this one. He signed my Monkey program, asked me for my name and where I was seated in the Opera House. When I said we had front row tickets, he said he’d be sure to keep an eye on us. His name might not be Jamie or Damon, but David is one of the kindest persons I’ve ever met.


Although the food in the Opera House was great, I was not hungry at all. My gut was filled with adrenaline because I knew Jamie and Damon were around. Fifteen minutes before the show started, we made our way into the main hall and waited for the doors to be opened to the seating area. Suddenly, Jamie himself came walking in through those doors in a hurry. Without thinking I called his name, and he actually recognized me from the last time I met him. He was “glad to have us back” XD Jamie signed the program and wished us a pleasant show. When he left the room, I had to sit down for a minute to realize what just happened there XD



We made our way to our seats. Front row means that you’re able to look into the orchestra pit during the whole show. Some guy was playing a jazzy tune on his cello, and a singer joked to us that stuff like that was gonna cost us extra. While glancing at the other musicians, I noticed David sitting in the middle of them. He looked at me and started to wave. When I waved back, the keyboard player that was sitting next to David immediately turned his head to him, asking who the hell he was waving at XD Because it was a premiere night, I expected to see some big shots in the public. At one point someone walked in with a strangely familiar looking hat. It was Paul Simonon, and he was shaking hands with people that recognized him. But my gaze was soon focused on a person who was walking on the other side of the footpath. Damon, along with Chen Shi-Zheng and Jamie, were seated over there. I walked up there, took a deep breath and said Damon’s name. But when he looked me in the eyes, I just froze. I suddenly stood face to face with the man I’ve been admiring ever since Blur made Leisure. All I could say was that I was a big fan of his work for a long time… and if he could please sign my program. So he did and I was happy beyond words. As Chen Shi-Zheng was sitting right next to me at that point, he also wanted to sign the piece. When I walked back to my seat, I felt like a klutz and wanted to kick myself for what I said to Damon, something he probably hears 50 times a day. On the other hand, the Monkey Trio was forever united on the page of the Dragon Prince in the program. Until the show started, I stared at the program until my eyes were dried out.

The show was even better then I could remember, but because I saw it before, I paid a bit more attention to the orchestra pit this time. You could see David occasionally switching instruments. There were only eight singers, but it sounded as if a whole choir was standing there. Halfway through the show I saw someone walking into the orchestra pit. Tomorrow I'll be grabbing a plane towards to what is perhaps my favourite city in the world: London. I'll hunt down the designer toy stores and the record stores. I'm also going to see Monkey, Journey to the West, the Chinese opera that Jamie and Damon (Gorillaz creators) made possible. Although I've seen the show back in Manchester two years ago, it was so fricking amazing, that I just couldn't resist not going <3 I will be back Saterday night, so I can't read my messages until then (:

dA is a wonderful tool for unknown artists to show off their skills. Some artists, however, are so unknown that they don't get the recognition they deserve. Here are some of the people I've added to my watchlist because they're damn good, but deserve alot more views, comments and overall praise here on dA.

~jongart is a very talented all-round artist. You can easily tell that from the look of his gallery. I love how he changes his style with every new deviation he posts up here. Here are some of my favorite pieces of him:


~mclelun is a brilliant Flash illustrator. The excellent color combination always gives the right mood to the images. Definitely worth visiting! Some of his brilliant drawings include:


~Hesukristo is not afraid to color outside an outline, unlike myself. His gallery is full of powerfull drawings that explode with bright colors. Go and check him out:


~ssturgeo mixes media like few do. She even uses nail polish to give her pieces the final touch. If she continues doing what she does, I'm not surprised to see her having her own exhibition in a couple of years:

Hello everyone! I thought it would be nice to promote a website here on dA where I've been working on at my internship company Blender (no, NOT the freeware 3d program!). We had to make a website for Doritos, where you can design your own chips bag! The winning bag's design can be found in the Dutch stores in October! How cool is that! The Doritos4Life website supports Dance4Life, an organisation that wants to make the youth of today more aware of the dangers of HIV and aids. The site was launched last monday, were de-buggin' it at the moment. And no, I am not an action scripter at all, I just made little animations, backgrounds for the bag, that little swirly thing on the background among other things, but I didn't program it XD

Got your interest, didn't I? Why not take a look yourself at [link]! The site may be Dutch but the menu and the tools shouldn't be to hard to understand for the English talking among you. So start designing, and stop aids!

Here are some examples of what the bags can look like. I made the one on the left as a test version, and my wacky other half thought it would be fun to put my head on the bag like that XD All my colleagues laughed at me when they saw that design.



The other project that I have been working on for the past few months is sceduled to go live in a week or two. I'll keep you posted!

It was my birthday yesterday And though we did the activities we do every birthday (play Wii/Gamecube games), it was crowded as hell XD My arm's still sore from playing Guitar Hero <3 At one point my friends decided it was present time. They awarded me with a DS Lite () and Super Smash Brothers Brawl ()!!! I know some of you guys visit this account occasionally, so THANK YOU ALL SO VERY MUCH <3

Back to business. I teamed up with a couple of guys to work on a project that is going to last for a year (at the most). Can't quite tell you the details yet (parly because we don't know all of those ourselves XD), but it's gonna be one heck of a project that is going to combine 2d, 3d, own music and everything else you can think of <3 I shall keep you posted about this matter. The thing is, though, I'm the member of the team that has to draw. A lot. I'll try to upload a new drawing every two weeks here on dA, but it might happen that I miss that deadline once or twice due to that project. So don't hate me for that ok?

Anyway, I was wondering. What would you like to see as subjects for a comic. Fan-based stuff, like my Sweeney Todd and latest Zelda-related comic, grammar jokes, or something else. I'd like to know out of pure curiousity. <3

My seventh week of internship has started today. I'm working at a small design company called Studio Monster. It's great fun, I'm learning how to use Flash properly and the whole studio is covered in Kidrobot figures. Right now we're creating an isometric world for the anual Clickbeurs, an online career event which in its previous edition looked a bit too much like Habbo Hotel. Our job to give it a total makeover I'll show you guys what the final looks will be as soon as it's ready ^^

Furthermore, I'm going to a cabaret performance on friday of my favorite Dutch comedian Najib Amhali. I know my cheeks are gonna hurt badly afterwards. Speaking of entertainment, I saw the Sweeney Todd movie last week. My god, sheer beauty in its purest form <3 I am not a big fan of musicals, but I figured that the combination of Tim Burton and Johnny Depp would make up for the singing. They didn't even have to, the singing was beautiful. I hope it receives an Oscar this month. GO SEE THE MOVIE NOW <3

I have been working on a drawing between the "I taste good" characters I posted on here. I'm looking forward to the day I'm satisfied with it, but it might take awhile, though XD After that's done, I might consider doing commissions here on dA, but first I need to know if people are even interested in that (probably not XD).

I’m not sure if you guys can still remember me. If not, I can imagine why. If you still do, you might recall me being active on dA a long, long time ago. Although I have read and answered comments/faves/etc, I was flabbergasted by the amount of deviations I had to check. I am still going through the pile, but it keeps getting bigger and bigger.

Due to my poor posting activity it might seem like I did not draw a single thing in the past half year. Not true. I even have a portfolio website now. I drew a lot of things, but the reason why I didn’t upload my new work to dA was because my gallery basically existed out of Gorillaz and Gorillaz only. My new drawings on the other hand, are not Gorillaz-related at all. I think it’s because it was time for me to move on. I had a blast drawing them and coming up with funny situations, but the point is, those characters belong to Jamie Hewlett, not to me. Now, I’m trying to find my own style with the new drawings I’m makin’. I am still considering to post my newest work on dA as well, you guys think that’s a good idea?

For those who are interested in my latest and greatest project: school chose me and three other people to unite as a group and compete against two other groups from the Animation and Games class to see who could create the most original and funniest commercial to promote the school’s introduction day. … OUR TEAM WON!!! ^^ This means that our movie will actually be shown in 4 cinemas from December 20. How cool is that! Hello fellow DA-ers! How are all of you doing? ^^

It has been such a long time since I’ve been able (and allowed) to make a new Gorillaz drawing to post here ;-;
Don’t blame me, blame school! The amount of homework that they gave us the past months was insane and at times too much to handle. But on the bright side, I am happy to inform that I’ve graduated through my second year of art school. Onwards to year three (after the vacation, of course)!

In other news:



I’ve been to the premiere of Monkey Journey To The West (created by Jamie, Damon and Chen) on June 28! This kicked of the Manchester International Festival. It was hard not to notice that the festival was being held in Manchester; posters, busses, a humungous screen and of course the Palace Theatre itself were covered in Jamie’s work. The show itself was absolutely amazing. Sword fighting, singing, dancing, aerial shows, stunts and acrobatics were performed in front of a sold out Theatre. For those of you who ever thought about going; GO AND SEE FOR YOURSELF HOW AMAZING IT IS. Reviews cannot even be compared with experiencing the opera yourself. Jamie and Damon were there, of course. But other celebrities such as Jude Law and Dennis Hopper were part of the audience as well.



I met Jamie a couple of hours before the show, while I was taking pictures of the Palace Theatre. I had a little chat with him, and wished him good luck afterwards. He was flattered that we came from another country just to see his show. Overall, Jamie is without a doubt the most gentle and spontaneous person I’ve ever met. It’s weird to see someone that important standing in front of you all of a sudden.



Seeing Jamie made me realize again what Gorillaz have done with me. They inspire me with everything I do. And telling that to the man who created them, might even have been more spectacular then Monkey Journey To The West.

Now that I finally have vacation, I’ll definitely try to post up new drawings ASAP.
I missed you guys.

Do you see this picture here?...


...That's a drawing of one of my teachers XD; I just had to draw him like that! He was wearing this really cool shirt, wide long trousers, and a cowabunga new pair of Allstars *w* Plus, the guy's got hair just like Link (from Zelda ) Anyways, I made it in my black book last week, and one of my mates couldn't resist to talk about it rather load near the person I drew (his name is Rutger, that's like a Dutched version of the name Roger XD). When he saw it he said this:

"... What the... ISTHATME?! *looks closer* I look mighty cool here 8D *looks again* YOU BETTER SCAN THIS IN AND EMAIL IT TO ME WHEN YOU GET HOME!"

And so it went XD. I got an email back from him that he had it as his desktop wallpaper. I was flattered to hear that, that guy can make amazing things in 3ds max OO; Buuut, seeing as it's not worthy of posting this as a deviation, I'd thought I'd show it to you like this.

A while back, one of my best mates, Esther, wanted to get a tattoo for her birthday. It had to be a kitty, and she wanted me to design it for her. Eventually, she got a total of nine designs to choose from. We went to the tattoo store two days ago, and here is the result:

It symbolizes her love for cats, and our eternal friendship. She really loved it and I’m happy beyond words for creating something she loves so much she wants to show it to people for the rest of her life ^^ And.. that's her shoulder right there XD;

10 Odd Things About Myself:

(1.)
I am madly in love with Gorillaz... Some of my close friends think that I’m too obsessed with the band. I don’t give a damn :3 I had to like them in the first place o0; Jamie has always been my favourite comic artist and Damon has always been my favourite singer/musician long before Gorillaz existed. When these two boys decided to team up and create my biggest source of inspiration, how could I not love it? Plus the fact that their music is awesome, the drawings are beautiful and the idea is very original. <3

(2.)
Some say my house looks like a museum XD. I’ve decorated every inch of it with things that I like: Gorillaz, Zelda, Nintendo, Pokémon (before you’re gonna point at me and shout WAHAHAHAHAHA Pokémon; I’m gonna explain WHY later on)… The only place that’s unholy is the bathroom, but I wouldn’t want my precious belongings to get soaked in the shower, would I? Would you like to come and visit me sometime? ^^ That’ll be €15 for the entry fee, thank you (that’s a joke)

I don’t think highly of myself at all XD Some people think I’m arrogant. I’m not, trust me. I’m a rather shy person, especially If I don’t know you that well ^^”

(4.)
I am truly thankful for all the friends that I have. I’ve met my Dutch friends at the Pokémon League about five years ago, where people were able to trade cards, play tournaments, and just have fun (that’s why Pokémon will always have a special place in my heart). My other friends, sadly enough, live in the UK and the USA. I got to know them through Gorillaz (more reason for me to like them ^^). Luckily, I get to see them pretty often. And my online friends, including some of you on dA, are awesome as well. I hope to meet all of you some day. <3

(5.)
I am connected with cats in some way; I can always win their trust easily. One of my friends once said that I was one myself in a past life. This is my own cat. His name is Anubis and he sure doesn’t look like the original XD I always call him Nuby (pronounced as Noobie ><”). Thank goodness he can’t game XD But I love him forever ^^ He’s laying between the keyboard and the monitor as I’m typing this XD;

...I'm at level 3 now XD;; I'MNOTBRAGGIN!!!! I have a low self-image. I'm just very surprised about it. There are a lot of great modelers/artists in my class. School thinks I'm one of them XD; Ooooh, and I got a 3/3 for the animatic in my scraps ^^ They couldn't resist teh Razz XD;

Well, the Subscribtion Trial is almost over now...
I must say I like it alot and I'm thinkin' about extending it soon... ^^

College's first semester is coming to an end as well. You may have seen the flash movie in my scraps. This is one of the projects I did in the past seven weeks. I rounded up my Audio Class project today, which was very fun to make. I had to provide an soundless trailer from "Lilo and Stitch" with voices, music and sound effects. How I love to talk like Stitch does <333

When I went to look at my page today, I suddenly was attacked by a very happy-faced mascotte of Deviantart, telling me I got seven free days of suscription!
I'm still trying stuff out, so don't flame me for the bad looking journal.
I have a shoutbox now... YOUMAYUSEITIFYOULIKEX3! I'm just using old drawings for the header and the footer, it will be gone in a couple of days anyway But, I like the extra functions... <3

Nothing much to report except I'm rather busy at the moment. I will finish the two drawing on my To-Do List as soon as I can. After that I think I'll slowly try my hand on a new comic.

I have no idea what they look or are like in real life. I am only certain about Missy’s real age. I don’t know how old Denholm and Rocky are, so I’ve written my own little story about them. CHILDREN OF THE KONG: Character Description


Rocky:
Rocky is Jamie’s first born son. I based his looks on Jamie’s. He grew up with the Tank Girl his dad used to draw. This’d probably explain the somewhat dirty characteristics of the boy. He has a high self-image, but struggles with the fact that his little brother is taller then him (and therefore likes to be called “Rock” instead of “Rocky”). He gets either sensitive or angry when he hears words like “small”, “tiny”, “little” or “puny”.

Denholm:
Denholm is Jamie’s second son. He’s two years younger then Rocky. His looks are based on those of Damon, who he admires deeply. Den once was more good-hearted then his big brother, but Rocky always drags him along in his evil plans. Thus, Den became the rascal he is today.

These two brothers are like Huey and Dewey without Louie, because they basically finish each others sentences. They’ve never had a fight with each other. They’re always trying to hit on Razz and Noodle, and despise Missy, even though she’s a girl, because of her young age.

Missy:
Missy is Damon’s little girl. I based her looks on the real Missy as much as I could. Den and Rock might about twice her age, but she still stands her ground because she’s smarter then most people are when they’re grown-ups. And just like the two boys, she’s got a big mouth.
She hates the fact that she’s so young and gets treated like a child. Her attitude can easily be compared to the one of Mandy (from “Grim and Evil”).

Don't worry, I didn't have an "awfull hangover" or summink; I don't drink or do drugs. We celebrated the fact that me and my close friends have known each other for five years by gaming, watching movies and lauging a lot.
It was lotsa fun, was there as well.
Thanks mates, we should do it again sometime soon ^^

I am madly in lurve with my tablet and I spoiled myself too much with it; I actually need to get used to a mouse now XD The fact that I'm submitting a drawing a lot later than I thought is because school has started again. The homework I get is fun, because I'm allowed to use Razz in the project we're doing right now, but it takes a hell lot of time to make.

I'd like to give a big shout towards , and for always entertaining me on MSN. You rock!

It started with the explanation of a project about "Human Landscape", and what you interpretation of that word might be. Some laid-back guy with a typical british hearcut is our teacher for that subject. I liked him the moment I saw him (NO, NOT LIKE THAT >>"). And what did he say when he started to explain that we needed to draw storyboards in the near future?

"I have this AMAZING DVD of the Gorillaz at home, and it's filled with all the storyboards of their music videos. I'll take it with me so we can have a look at them"

I'll be watchin' Gorillaz movies on a beamer next week ^^
After class I was hyperventilating together with the teacher about Gorillaz. Seems he is a massive fan of their work as well XD

My mentor gives the 3ds Max classes. I was already sitting behind my computer, and I almost bursted out in laughter when he walked in.
He has the same hair as Jamie! XDDDDDD I didn't notice that before because he was wearing a cap last time. So I've got Jamie as my mentor, only a bit more chubby ^^ He also said that we will go to London(!) sometime this year to visit the Pixar Museum and other animatic things to behold. I think I jumped through the ceiling out of happiness at that moment. I love the UK ^^

All together, this has been a great day for me
I can't wait to get better with the programs I'm learning to work with. ^^

Oh yeah, and my tablet arrived three days after I ordered it last week. I'm very happy that I got it, but I still need to get used to it... BADLY XD I'll promise I'll use it on my next Deviation ^^

Although school started mildy today, I know that the homework will pile up in the near future (even though it's animation and drawing work). So please forgive me if I'm not able to upload a Deviation every week. I'll still do my best to draw as fast as I can and I will keep logging in on dA everyday to stay in contact with you guys ^^

I’ve been meaning to say that I saw ’s flash movie of “Sound Check” (can be watched here: [link] ) in Animation Class last year. The movie was beamed onto a huge screen, and everyone was watching it in amazement. Looks like Fade’s popular at my school, the teacher was all obsessed with her work ^^.

I finally have been able to order a Wacom Tablet ^0^. It should be in my possession within two weeks (hopefully >>”). I’m really glad I can use it soon, my arm was killing me every time after using the mouse a couple of hours.

What else is new… Oh yeah, I deleted a Deviation from my gallery. It was so unimportant that you probably won’t even know what it is XD. I just posted it at the time because I had to fill my gallery with… something

So, I got myself a program that can ripp the audio of a DVD,
Finally, I could listen to the live gig without carrying a DVD player around! ^W^
And I decided to ripp the videos of 19-2000, Clint and Rock Da House as well.
Why? Because the SFX sounds in it are just too darn funny. XD
So, I added them to my MP3 player's list and took it with me while I was sitting in a train.
And I've learned a very important lesson that day.
Do NOT EVER listen to an SFX version of Rock Da House in an overcrowded train while Murdoc is doin' his performance OO"
They had to scrape me off the floor that day XD

As you can see, I managed to stay on DA for a month now...
... How I love this site!!!
A lot has happened here in the past month.
Somehow, meh deviations were viewed over a 1000 times @.@

As mentioned a couple of times before, I'm Razkall. ... Hi! ^^

I live in the Netherlands now, but I'm hoping to move to the UK in the very near future. Why would I want to do that? I'll give you a couple of reasons:

Blur and Gorillaz are both born in the UK. Some of my good friends live in London. I hardly ever see them because of that darned ocean that keeps separating us and flying isn't exactly a cheap form of traveling. Another important reason for me to go there is because I want to become an animator, game designer or a comic artist. There's no future for jobs like that over here. My dream at the moment is to work at Zombie Flesh Eaters, the company of Jamie, co-creator of Gorillaz (shame on you if you didn't know that OO").

I'm a student at the Grafisch Lyceum in Rotterdam (for the non-dutch people ammong us, that's an art, technology -and design school). I'm actually sitting on it agains my will. Not because the school sucks, but because it's "school". You're sitting in a classroom, where subjects that you're not interested in are being explained, while you could be sitting at home, improving your art skills, writing songs or evolving yourself in any other possible way at your own tempo. I believe that some stupid degree is not good enough to prove yourself to the world. You've got to show everyone what you're made of, not what kind of education you did. Take Jamie and Damon (creators of the Gorillaz) for example. They don't need a piece of paper to let people know what they can do (Jamie does, but he's the drawer). They've learned me that your dreams can come true. All it takes is effort, willpower and the ability to keep dreaming.

They are my rolemodels, they give me inspiration, they make me laugh, they are my gods. Period. The thing I really like about Gorillaz is that it both beautiful (look at the animations and the music) and also bloody funny (the expressions, the conversations, everything!). I keep hearing that I'm a bit obsessed with the band. I don't think that's a bad thing at all. I never disagreed with anything that they've said so far (about other artists, the way the world is nowadays etc.). They just tell people their own opinion through the virtual band, in a direct but very amusing way. I love it. I want people to laugh at my work, too. Not because it's drawn so crappy (at least I hope not OO"), but because it's meant funny.

I also love games! I'm a full-time Nintendo supporter and own every console that has been released until now (DS lite is on its way >>"). My favorite games are Zelda, Suikoden and Final Fantasy. I also enjoy platform/adventures like Donkey Kong, Conker and Sonic. Yes, I even play Pokémon on my DS (don't laugh, I'll kick your ass in battle). I think Pokémon's was not meant to be for children in the first place. It's just because of Pikachu that it became very popular ammong the kids, because they described him as "cute". Nintendo continued producing its merchandise, and it made Pokémon one of the best selling games ever.

I could just keep writing about my interests here, but I don't want to keep you busy all day.
