So I have just recently gotten back from Argentina and Antarctica! I got a lot of great pictures during my travels and hope to get them up soon. I also have some new poetry in the works, so that will be up soon as well. I also still have some pictures from Svalbard that I was planning on posting as well.

Thanks to anyone who has favorited my works over the last couple of months! It is very much appreciated!

I have also finally gotten pictures of my remaining animal sculptures (although not the best pictures, I admit). All I need to do is put them together and those should be up soon as well.

I did spend most of my summer in Norway and Svalbard, which was amazing! I have now become slightly obsessed with polar studies and the animals that live there. I have put up some of the pictures that I took while I was there. However, I have a new computer and did not transfer photoshop so its hard to format some of the things...

In more exciting news, I'm going to Antarctica over my Winter Break for 3 weeks. YAY! My photographic skills have improved witht the borrowing of my father's digital camera with all the different lenses. There should be some good ones coming out of that trip!

I plan on going home soon and getting pictures of my other sculptures, so those should also be up soon as well.

On a happier note,
I have found out that I am going to Norway this summer and on up to Svalbard to study for three weeks. Very exciting.

I still plan on re-doing the exploded giraffe. I will probably paint a lot of my pieces and finish constructing the walrus so that i can get it up here. Anyone have any tips on good wood to use to carve out some tusks?

-Still haven't done anything with painting my clay pieces...or anything with clay for that matter. Sorry for anyone that is waiting for them!

-I am thinking about trying to redo a piece that exploded in the kiln last year. Its a 12 in giraffe stuffed animal with a fez, patches, and buttons. Yes, I know that sounds strange, but anyone that saw it before it died knew how cute it was. After it blew up, I proceeded to make a pig stuffed animal/piggy bank in another class. Unfortunately, I grossly underestimated the size that both the top opening had to be and the bottom hole. Oh well, I guess it can just be a penny bank. Its still really cute though!

Since its almost the end of the semester, I plan on going home and taking pictures of some of my most recent work from clay class (although i can't do it anymore now that I have college stuff). Anyways, expect a lot of new photo deviations cause i have so much time to format all of the sweet pics that i took on all my travels this summer (France, Spain, England, Scotland). Also, i plan on trying to paint some of my clay pieces since i'm no longer in that class on the weekends that i'm home! So that should be exciting! I also thought that i'd try to do some sketching in my spare time (or at least learn how to be a good drawer!).

So, recently i've been getting into photography on my travels. Some of the pictures that i take turn out pretty nice...

...i have two questions

1. Is there a certain program that would be recommended to get rid of blur and other bad things? (i don't have a digital camera that i use to take most of my photos of nature, etc. with so i can't take the picture multiple times to fix it.)
2. What is the easiest way to but a solid border around pictures?

Anyways, my animal sculpture class is starting in a couple of weeks. My panda bear was fired over the summer, so it'll be ready to go when i start. Speaking of which, a humpback whale fluke that i made a while back has been painted (unfortunately i gave it away to a friend as a birthday present). Maybe if i get off my lazy butt, i might actually paint some of my pieces that are just sitting around my house!

i guess i'm also going to arizona this tuesday...so maybe i'll get some good pics. arizona does have quite an interesting landscape...the only downside of this trip is 1) my dad ended up renting a hummer! (conserve fuel!), 2)i have a 5-7 page paper to write for native american history, 3)i have to do running and other exercises for soccer, and 4)i will have just got my teeth pulled!

anyways...can anybody give me any tips for making previews for psd images? beuler? beuler?

don't you just hate those times when you just have artist's block...i haven't had anything new (that i've physically done) in like 3 months! I am not quite sure if i am going to join my animal sculpture class again next semester...but for my teacher's birthday, we are all making tiny 1 in animals to put on these bowls (made by one of my class mates) and surprising her next wednesday...

anyways, i had this great idea to take some "old" looking pictures in Beaver Creek, Colorado when i was there a couple weeks ago...but me and my lazy self didn't even take one picture...they would have been really cool though.

but i have some awesome ideas..
...perhaps some puffins with the fish lined up in it's mouth.

...or perhaps something with multiple figures, like a family unit of sorts.

...i also had something in mind about maybe an attack scene, like a lion taking down a zebra...maybe a combo of both like a family of lions feeding on a dead carcass...what do you think?


anyways, i plan on painting all of my pieces in the vary near future, and soon to be posted. I also have a lot of pictures that i want to get up this weekend or before them. Any particular suggestions of painting techniques? if it helps i'm using acrylic paints on these...if anyone would like to comission a piece for me to do, i would be glad to do it, however it might take a little while to complete, fire, and paint (unless you would like to paint it yourself, in which case i'd send it to you unbisqued).

so for the past 2 months i have been applying for a People to People student emassador trip to australia and new zeland. i just got in the mail today that i was excepted to it!!!! YAY!!!!!!!!!11...

anyways...
i just had my art class the other night and my beautiful tiger is going to be about one foot tall...i am excited for it to be done so that i can share it with the rest of y'all. it's very exciting!

I still havent taken pictures of my okapi, but i will soon. It turned out great. I also have some other things that have been fired that i haven't taken pics of yet. Over the summer, i gave away my komodo dragon to a friend. That happens to be the only sculpture that i've ever painted...pretty sad huh?

I also have some really interesting looking pictures of fireworks that almost appear to be time-lapsed. Very cool...will post soon!

i definately hope that we have a snow day...otherwise none of the snow will be worth it all. I think it's snowing cause nobody in michigan celebrated earth day...so mother nature decided to get us all back...

So a couple of weeks ago i went to this open house at a place called Epiphany Studios for a glass blowing demonstration...i am newly inspired to learn...does anybody know how one would get started in this sort of thing???
