I've got...

...a new monitor!
It's much bigger and better than my old one.

Besides that -
I already got orders for my calendars! And not only from students of our school or friends. Other people seem to be quite interested, too!

Calendar Boys - The RANT

I am so pissed off I cannot even laugh about the stupidity of the situation.

Because our new deputy headmaster retarded the approval of the calendar photos the calendars won't be printed in time. Which means looking for new opportunities to sell it. Because they're now to late for the local Christmas market.

That's one point.

The other one *could* be funny.
But only if you're not involved.

I have to redo the retouching of one picture because it looks as if the model would not wear anything behind the giant waterball which lies in front of him. If I don't remove the tiny corners which show a little bit of the shorts, it's OK.

But then... why do they always give out those school year planners stuffed with advertising???? The last year's Miss Sixty model on the back of the calendar wore no bra and you could see her nipples under her vest. And the year before the model wore nothing more than trousers and you could see her breasts! So what's wrong with something you cannot see?

Please tell me this was just a nightmare.

Calender Boys Session 3 - Grand Piano

Just one shooting today. The others had to be cancelled.
Therefore I'll have to shoot the remaining 4 on Monday.

At least the one shooting we did was great. We found a grand piano in the nearly never used music room.
I always loved piano pictures - and grand pianos are even more beautiful and somehow impressive objects.
So it wasn't difficult to get some nice photos.

I definitely have to persuade the boys that I can upload some of the pictures here!

Ahhem... and yes, if anyone of you is interested in buying one of the calendars, just tell me! I can show some sample pictures.
We haven't decided about the price yet, but it will be less than 8Â for a DIN A4 calender, mostly b/w pictures and some like the fire one, in colour.

Calender Boys Session 2 - FIRE!

Whoooohooo!
By now I've got really loads of stuff (blankets, lights, various decoration things...) stored in school. I fear it won't fit in the car so I won't be able to transport it all home tomorrow!

Today's shootings were hot.
Literally.

1 - The Fire-Fighter: MB our fire-fighter (member of the auxiliary fire brigade) posed with some parts of his equipment: the helmet, gloves and even a real water hose! The location was great - we used the basement of our school were all the pipes of the heating are located.

2 - The Advent Calendar: D posed behind a self-made XXL calendar: You know really every door is opened so you see his face, shoulders, ... except for the last door which is still closed. Guess which one it is!

3 - The Three Students... sitting in shorts on the couch in the corridor. Busily studying.

4 - and finally - The Fire-Breather: Hot! My favourite shooting today. I LOVE fire-breathing with lycophyte spores (It's not as dangerous as using alcohol) and the pictures turned out really nice. Soon we were surrounded by many curious students because we did it in the smokers' area. Some just wanted us to light the cigarettes with the torches...

CalenderBoys Part 1 - Mission accomplished!

What a great day.

As promised - here are some words about the shooting today.

First of all - the models (M and P) did a great job. None of the two boys has any experience in being a photo model. But they were highly motivated and showed some talent.

September:In the morning we drove into the forest during some free lessons. It was freaking cold! But the boys insisted in shooting outside... I wore my winter jacket and boots and thought it was cold. And they wore nothing, at least one of them! But somehow they managed to look cool and relaxed.

April:After the boys' PE lessons I left my art course and we started the water shooting in the gym's shower room. This was longest and most difficult shooting. We all had to work hard. M had to concentrate on not making funny grimaces when the water hit his face, P had to control the water and I had to find the right position and perspective. But it was the funniest shooting!

February:(Valentine's Day)Decorated with a stovepipe hat, a tie and red roses, P posed in the changing room (which we had covered under white blankets.) The most classical shooting, but also fun.

So that was a really short version of what happened today - I'm tired but happy.

Tomorrow I'll shoot the next 4 themes.

Two models, three different themes:
water, Valentine's Day and autumn.

Water - water splashes, or showering. This is definitely going to be fun.

Valentine's Day - already cut out hundred of paper hearts, organized some wings, hopefully I'll find some roses and a golden bow!

Autumn - just think of some ancient statues. There will be leaves.

'You're going to be our nude photographer.' said a classmate.
They want to do a calender full of b/w pictures of themselves. Nude.

I made a rather stupid face -
- saying: 'uhmmm I'm not sure-''That's no problem - I don't mind showing you my ass.'
Uhmmm that wasn't quite the point I was worried about.

Finally they persuaded me - and for heavens' sake it will be rather semi-nude shots. They don't want their girlfriends to go crazy of jealousy.

Now... at least they want b/w pictures, so I don't have to worry about skin tones. Furthermore I already organized some light spots with umbrellas and a small hall.

But there are quite some problems:
a)no second flash, just the built-in one of my camera
b)no background cover (and I don't know what the location looks like)
c)no experience whatsoever, at least not in studio-like, professional shoots...

any suggestions?

well besides that...

I like them. Haven't used them for a long time though.
To be honest - watercolours were the first artistic medium I tried to cultivate. I even took some classes - but that was 6 or 7 years ago.
My last watercolour picture is over 5 years old.
Now I finally started again.

We're going to buy a new car. But after hours of comparing their features - I just want to keep the old one. It's fast, comfortable and roomy. Too bad it's older than me...

Less work for school - more work after. It's more stressy than during the exams.

France - my island of hope. I really, really need some time to relax. From Friday till August 13th I'll be chez ~zart.

Back 'n' Busy

Hi!
I'm finally back from Spain (I spent one week with my classmates in Tossa de Mar).
The weather was great! The sea was incredible blue, the coast beautiful but the water ice-cold. BUT I was brave enough to spend some time in there... there are even some photos
Overall I shoot about 800 photos - without all the ugly ones I already deleted.

I'm going to submit a more detailed report on the trip later, when I submit more photos.

Right now I should really be doing other things...
since I'm part of the service team of the 72h-Aktions-Team of our region. (The 72h-Aktion is a huuuge social project of young German catholics).
And I fell in love with our 'headquarters'!
I'm curently using a pretty cool tablet PC with has some incredible features. It's sooo hard not just to play around with it the whole time. I think I'm going to ro the owner's house later... he has some pretty nice other stuff, too... hehe

So if you count all the pictures I shot this week (and which were good enough not to delete) it adds up to over 1,000.

Right now I could write quite a lot more but I think that's enough for now, so

The last weeks were great - I'm feeling pretty good.

I got commissioned again! Haha it's so great to do things that you love AND get paid for. It's another flyer and a newsletter design (and they mentioned another flyer...)

I went to a show of BÃ¼lent Ceylan (German comedian). A great artist which is on the rise. Since I was in the service team of the organizer I managed to see the show twice for free
Furthermore I asked him to sign the portrait I did of him. He was pretty surprised but he liked the picture

I nearly got sunburned yesterday as I sat on the balcony. Luckily the red skin vanished over night

My informatics teacher asked me, if I wanted to redesign our school's website. I'd be cooperating with the two teachers who are currently running the site, but are too short of time. Should I say yes? Surely it'd be fun to do, but I dunno... feels somehow strange to intervene in such stuff.

Just 31 days till my 2nd DA anniversary - and
only 33 days till I'm of full age. Take that.

... I had a bat in my room. Just half an hour ago.
A cute little thing. But fast.
I'm still wondering how it came in. The window and balcony door were closed. It must've come in through the bathroom window and then across the doorway.
It took quite some time until my little friend noticed that I had opened the balcony door...

Das arme Kerlchen hat einige Zeit gebraucht den Weg Ã¼ber die BalkontÃ¼r nach draussen zu finden.

Snowy Easter and a week of fun
It was a really cold Easter this year. There's never been snow at Easter. And now we had had about 30 or 40cm of snow. I'll post some pictures in the next days...
In the meantime I've been away for the first part of a "coaching course" where I learned more about how to coach kids and teens. To be responsible for them and organize events. It was great!
One thing I really enjoyed was the course about immediate life-saving measures - but I hope I'll never have to use it.

Bad news.

I really don't know... I don't even have an own style

since elementary school... the math lessons were so boring

I always try to learn something new and I try out many different techniques... and I learn rather fast (at least sometimes).

Creativity. My mind is so uninspired...

not really...

maybe - but only if I'd get some money for my art

Everyone I saw. I admire the old masters (like DaVinci) and I admire some new artists too. There are great digital painters and traditional artists even here on dA... I always try to learn from those artists...

I don't know... my pencil - or my graphic tablet? What do you think?

9. Is there a medium you would like to learn how to use (or use better)?

Airbrush, or making sculptures

10. How do you handle critiques of your work?

I try to learn from them... I can be rather nasty if I've got a bad day, but I don't mean it like that... Every critique is welcome!

Back from Croatia

I'm back!

The time in Croatia was just great - too bad that the journey is so long - I'd really like to spend more time there.

Things I like about Croatia:

- the weather

- the beautiful natural beaches

- and the rest of the beautiful and interesting landscape

- the FOOD!!! ---> muscalica, duvec rice, cevapcici, ...

I'm not sure about the spelling

The thing(s) I don't like:

- the long journey: this time it took about 24h! Twenty-four hours I had to spend in the car together with my parents and my two sisters

Yes, today is a good day to kick of the old journal...

The weather is nice and even school wasn't too bad.

Especially the photography classes were great!

Our teacher had brought most of his own stuff to school -

some really gorgeous cameras

My favorite one looked like the ones paparazzi usually use - with a giant objective.

It was fascinating! I could even read the smallest adds on the blackboard on the opposite side of the big hall...

But the thing I liked most were the shocked looks of some of the students - especially some girls were not very amused

(Add: Photography isn't a subject of our school. We're just couple of students and a teacher which are doing this just for fun - no marks, few rules.)}
