Well Ive been sort of scarce on here lately. I was soooo far behind on watches and messages I really had no choice but to hit just the highlights to get through them all. Ive thought about trimming my watched list but I just cant bring myself to do itI might miss something wonderful.

Not much new, a couple of fractals and several WIPs that Ill be submitting eventually. Spring has sprungAGAIN and Im hoping this time its decided to stay for a spell. Ill probably be posting photos again soon.

It finally occurred to me to join the $ultra-fractal$ club here!

So Ive done that as well as made the discovery of

a new photography club!

I dont take HDR photos but I am a big fan so kudos to those great artists who do and check them out, you wont be disappointed. Im very happy to see someone took the initiative to form this one.

NOW...on to the dogs and cats portion of our program. The following was e-mailed to me and I thought it was cute so I decided Id share.

CAT DIARY

Day 983 of my captivity:

My captors continue to taunt me with bizarre little dangling objects. They dine lavishly on fresh meat, while the other inmates and I are fed hash or some sort of dry nuggets. Although I make my contempt for the rations perfectly clear, I nevertheless must eat something in order to keep up my strength.

The only thing that keeps me going is my dream of escape. In an attempt to disgust them, I once again vomit on the carpet. Today I decapitated a mouse and dropped its headless body at their feet. I had hoped this would strike fear into their hearts, since it clearly demonstrates what I am capable of.

However, they merely made condescending comments about what a "good little hunter" I am.

Bastards!

There was some sort of assembly of their accomplices tonight. I was placed in solitary confinement for the duration of the event. However, I could hear the noises and smell the food. I overheard that my confinement was due to the power of "allergies." I must learn what this means, and how to use it to my advantage.

Today I was almost successful in an attempt to assassinate one of my tormentors by weaving around his feet as he was walking. I must try this again tomorrow - but at the top of the stairs.

I am convinced that the other prisoners here are flunkies and snitches. The dog receives special privileges. He is regularly released and seems to be more than willing to return. He is obviously retarded.
The bird has got to be an informant. I observe him communicate with the
guards regularly. I am certain that he reports my every move. My captors have arranged protective custody for him in an elevated cell, so he is safe.

Hello everyone!

I have been so unmotivated lately. Thankfully the weather is looking a bit better and giving my arthritis a rest so Ive been out scouting for photogenic moments.

Ive decided to try my hand at stereo pairs but so far Ive nothing worth submitting here. Ive visited dA a few times recently and I have looked at all of the things you guys have been submitting but I havent had much to say. My moods must be cycling or something.
I totally missed voting in the last IFDD contest and I apologize for that. Ill try to do better this time for the Oh look!! Stars! Contest .

Amazingly enough I did manage to weed out and delete some of my older submissions although Id like to do some more clean up. I dont want to get rid of all of the older works because its sort of fun for me to go back through and see how much Ive learned since I started playing with fractals.

Oh! And I passed the one year mark here on dA. Yay me!

I hope the next is just as rewarding.

When youre a kid you have so much time on your hands life almost seems to happen in slow motion. Now, I wake up and wonder where the day has gone. Were already nearly a full month into the new yearthat actually amazes me. Im not quite depressed about it but I am honestly ruffled. Still having a great time making mud pies in Ultra Fractal. Im up to 25 layers!

Im still just tinkering. One of these days Ill have to get serious and look at the tutorials and find out just what this program is capable of but until then I am totally pleased and Id recommend UF to anyone who likes to mess around with fractal generators. Im submitting seven new fractals. I hope someone, somewhere, gets a little enjoyment out of them.

Well, I hope everyone has been enjoying the holidays. They seem to go by faster every year. I was given three wonderful gifts this year that I didnt expect.

I love surprises.

So, I received a HP Photosmart printer, a 1gig memory card for my digital camera, and a copy of Ultra Fractal for Christmas. I did hint sort of heavy on the Ultra Fractal but the rest I had no clue about. I have scrapbooking sugar plums dancing in my head now over the printer and memory card. The UF I am in love with. Ive not done any tutorial except the beginning Basics thing but Ive been having so much fun pushing buttons I havent knuckled down to the technical aspects. Its almost like making mud piesone of my favorite pastimes as a child. So, I havent had a lot of time to play but what I have has been a ton of fun and Ill be uploading my first few attempts as well as a few Fractal Explorer creations I still havent submitted.

Ah, Christmas.

Some of my fondest memories as a child were from Christmas. I mean how could they not be when it's wonderland: snow, sledding, christmas lights, the smell of pine, hot cocoa, and loot. Now that I'm an old fart I don't see it quite the same and I have to say I'm not that fond of it anymore.

Christmas is much the same, the snow will come eventually, I still love the smell of pine, and I still drive around to look at all the christmas lights. I spend tons of time finding the perfect gifts for my loves and I bake and bake and bake cookies. Still Christmas just isn't magical anymore.

It's become the Gimme Holiday and a great majority of it seems an utter waste of time to me. Cash can be hard to come by for me and I love to create things, ya'll may have noticed that already, but it seems no one really appreciates such things anymore. We have a drawing at my in-laws on Thanksgiving to find out who we're gifting at Christmas. We're each asked to make a list so our gift giver won't be clueless as to what to give. Heaven forbid they actually take a risk or put some thought into the process to come up with something original. Now some people would argue this with me and say that it's easier that way nobody gets stuff they don't like and they won't have to mess with returns. To me that attitude totally defeats the entire purpose of gift giving. It kills the spontaneity and robs it of any real meaning. Anyone can go shopping and fill orders from a grocery list.

My list usually reads something like this: bears, wolves, snowmen, books, dvd's, anything green or living, rocks, shells, anything God made and you found, drawings, stories, poems, anything you made while thinking of me (these are my favorites). I generalize in the hope that I give lots of options, enough that any fool would realize that pretty much anything goes, and my hope is that the person who gifts me will put as much thought into the gift as I did making the list. What a perfect theme for IFDD's latest contest. I haven't done much lately creatively. Sort of in a slump. I did manage to put something together for the Gothic Fractal contest but I'm not submitting yet on the off chance I get inspired over the weekend. Since the last day for entry is my birthday I may hold off until then for a little added luck.

I have been attempting to edit some old writing that I want to submit. I figure if I can't write anything new then maybe I can rewrite something old.

I don't plug artists in my journal but I've been giving it some serious thought and just today

submitted a new stereograph and I could actually see it!

Usually, I just get a headache although I did see one earlier this week that was a sky shot and I had little problem seeing it. He's not one to submit often which is a pity and so I feel compelled to share it.

Well, this is going to be a pretty heavy duty set of submissions. The world is just too photogenic right now for me to pace myself. I hope it's not too painful for any of you. Really kind of bummed right now...not sure why. The weather maybe...been raining so much and no sunshine at all. That's pure anathema for those of us who struggle with depression. Especially sucky since I really love fall and winter. They aren't always comfortable but they're both very beautiful and I am looking forward to those special moments like standing under a winter sky, surrounded by snow and with the scent of woodsmoke in the air. Oh yeah. I can dig that.

Could also be all of the projects I have going on right now. If I were a smart girl I'd knuckle down and finish off a couple of the easy ones so I wouldn't feel so swamped. Blah.

I really do. She is just so awsome. My latest foray into digital art is dedicated to her.

My daughter Angel's little cat Sugar died on Monday.

I'm more of a dog person myself and my own cat Imp died a couple years ago now. I miss him a ton. Anyhow, this little cat and I never had a whole lot to do with each other until the week before she died. Suddenly she was sleeping on me at night and sitting perched on the back of my chair while I was online and underfoot the rest of the time. I had to rescue her from the roof on friday...saturday morning I woke with her on my chest and she was almost entirely unresponsive. It was obvious she was going. She never seemed to be in pain but she got weaker and weaker and wanted nothing but to be held.

I'm going to miss seeing her long and lanky little form darting through the house or standing on her hind legs to look out the window. She had huge owl eyes that seemed entirely too big for her head and so she had two basic looks...half asleep and totally freaked out. And she believed in dragons which endeared her to my heart long ago. She'd try to sneak out and I'd whisper "Sugar! Dragons!" and off she'd run to the basement.

Yeah.

Definitely miss her.

So, I decided to give Fractal Explorer a shot. I like it. BUT...I hate being a total newb at anything.

I've no real idea what I'm doing since I tend to push all the pretty buttons and whistles before hunting down actual tutorials and things. If any of you know of any good ones I certainly wouldn't mind a link. I give hugs~n~kisses for any good tips.

In other news, have you ever tried to talk a cat down from a roof? Yeah, guess what my ladderless ass got to do today. Uh-huh.

Sorry, I haven't been commenting much. Life has been smacking me around a bit more than usual and I've recently become an insomniac. I don't recommend it. I'll be exhausted all freakin' day and then about midnight you'd think I'd had a few gallons of Redbull, of course the imaginary kind doesn't give you wings. It does give you what feels very like a nasty hangover the next morning when you're still sitting in front of the computer, drooling on your keyboard.

I had a good time for the most part on my vacation, mostly thanks to my kid.

I have a ton of photos to process and post over the next few days. I just finished posting all of my recent fractals and just inched my way under the deadline for the Seduction contest hosted by

I was lucky enough to manage to create a fractal based on storms. It's titled Thor's Hammer after the Norse god of storms. I think it's appropo since one of my original characters (fiction) is a weather witch who conjures and controls storms. Definitely the type of goddess I'd choose to be.

I've been listening to mood music again and guess what....there's a storm rolling in.

Ok, I decided having a separate account for writing was silly. You guys can filter it out anyhow.

The heat broke a bit and the humidity was down so I was out and about most of the day. I really enjoyed it. Went to the farmer's market and hung out with the critters. Got some nice photos. Yep...I'm happy with it.

It rained today! A lot. Maybe you can tell from the bunch of photos I just submitted. I know it's probably overload but I love the rain and I love it's effects on the world around me. For me life would truly be depressing if everyday were sunny and I missed out on the rains magic. So here ya go...raindrops and more raindrops.

I'll try to exercise better control over myself in the future. Camera worked like a champ even though it and I were both soaked. I loved it though, it was so nice and cooling. Who needs umbrellas.

It is so totally her fault! If

hadn't made her Julia Uncovered tutorial then these flames would have never been. Plus, half of us wouldn't have been Southparked! I've never even seen an episode of that show and yet I went and made a little Southpark me. It's in my scraps and really scary...so are these new flames.

I did use creative license to messy them up a bit since symmetry irritates me. I color outside the lines too. I just can't deal without a little chaos. Just a smidge, a dash, a drop, a pinch, a crumb even. Speaking of crumbs if you want to see something truly unholy watch me cook.

So...like I was saying, these newer flames, my Messy Grand Julians, are all Claire's fault. Shame on you Claire. Shame, shame, shame on you!

Also, I put up a few photos. I love that little bug. I think they should be about the size of a chihuahua, leash trained and housebroken. I'd call mine Doodle.

So, I've opened another dA account to post my poetry, prose and useless ramblings. I decided since it's sort of rare folks are interested, since writing lacks any sort of immediate gratification via eye candy, I'd not bother my regular watchers with the updates. Another big submission. You people are probably ready to kill me for flooding your watch boxes. Sorry, I really will try to keep them smaller. I've put up six new photos, six new wallpapers (1280 X 1024), and three photomanipulations.

I've been playing a bit more with macro shots but I use a digital camera, no tripod, and I have very shaky hands so it can be really difficult. Still it's a lot of fun and I've really been enjoying myself even if my macros are not as focused as I would like them to be. Sometimes I get lucky!

I wanted to say thanks to the judges and all of my Apo friends for the kind comments on Alien Egg Clutch which was also voted first place in the last Apo Weekly Challenge for plastics! This is a second win for me which I find totally amazing because I consider myself such a newb.

I promised my best friend mastercolg that Id post all of my new flames before he returns from his trip and that will be tomorrow, Monday. As usual I have waited until the last possible moment. I am a huge procrastinator.

Ive spent some time this week playing with

s tutorial on FracFan. I learned a lot and I highly recommend it to anyone else looking to learn more about Apo. I rendered quite a few flames while playing with the tutorial guidelines. I love the results.

Also, I saw on checking today that the Apophysis Weekly Theme Event for Butterflies finally had results come in and I saw that I placed 2nd overall and 1st in community votes. Since I dont know who voted what Id just like to say thanks to everyone who looked at my entry and voted.

My best friend mastercolg finally became a deviantArt member after a lot of prodding from me. Hes rendered only two flames that I know of using Apo and one of them is his dual monitor wallpaper. Hes also posted a couple short stories, one of those, If Snow Were Pure, inspired the title for my Fairy Fall flame.

Hugh Jackman is...so damn pretty. I adore Wolverine and he is so perfect for the part. I will say this much...there is an added scene at the very end of the credits. Most people had left by then in the theater I went to.

Going to Mom's for a Memorial Day cookout tomorrow and I went out this evening and bought some fresh fruit to make a salad for our dessert. Yummm. Maybe I'll catch another look at that pretty little albino squirrel and snap a few more pictures.

I've been working on plastic flames but not having a whole lot of luck. I just don't like the eggs much. I don't like real ones either...yuck. Anyhow, I came up with several, oddish flames playing with different variations using blur. I had fun regardless. Also, got a few other flames when I needed a break from plastic. I was feeling whimsical so a lot of these are sort of silly.

I'm so pleased and so honored to have received the votes I did and I thank everyone who voted for Faery Fall. I'm really new to Apophysis and fractals in general. As a matter of fact it was in surfing deviantART, just a couple months ago, that I first heard of it and since I was curious and it was a free download I gave it a try. I really love it. This has become the most relaxing hobby I've come across besides gardening.
