We Had "SUNSHINE" all day yesterday! Had a wonderful afternoon with my Granddaughter ....... walking, talking ( I couldn't understand a word she was saying! In between our days out I have been attempting to get back into my fittnes routine, (Failig here! ) catch up with my volutary work and the rest of my family and freinds and do my share entertaining my new granddaughter Elizabeth ( she is almost 6 months old now) Time flys past!!

So much happening at the mo ....... we are also awaiting the arrival of our new Grandson. He is due in about 6 weeks

Now I am looking forward to finding the time to submit a few pictures from our travels and of course to comment on your lovely work.

Hope you are all well and still managing to and Rockon a little through life, that makes all the difference you know! And of course, if you are able to help others on the way, even if only in small ways ........ so much the better, I think.

We are leaving the rain soaked shores of the UK on Monday for our usual summer getaway to Turkey where we will meet up with our poolside freinds to marinate and be totally random.......I can already feel the sun on my back, and hear the lapping of the blue sea against the beach and the clink, clink of ice cubes being dropped into those long cool summer drinks and just the very faintest sound of music being carried on those zepher like breases ..........Are you there with me!

TONIGHT I CAN WRITE.

To night I can write the saddest lines.

Write, for example, The night is starry
and the stars are blue and shiver in the distance.

The night wind revolves in the sky and sings.

Tonight I can write the saddest lines.
I loved her, and sometimes she loved me too.

Through nights like this one I held her in my arms.
I kissed her again and again under endless sky.

She loved me, and sometime I loved her too.
How could one not have loved her great still eyes.

Tonight I can write the saddest lines.
To think that I do not have her. To feel that I have lost her.

To hear the immence night, still more emmence without her.
And the verse falls to the soul like dew to the pasture.

What does it matter that my love could not keep her.
The night is starry and she is not with me.

This is all. In the disrtance someone is singing. In the distance.
My soul is not satisfied that it has lost her.

My sight tries to find her as though to bring her closer.
My heart looks for her, and she is not with me.

The same night whitening the same trees.
We, of that time, are no longer the same.

I no longer love her, thats certain, but how I loved her.
My voice tried to find the wind to touch her hearing.

Another's. She will be another's. As she was before my kisses.
Her voice, her bright body. her infinine eyes.

I no longer love her, that's certain, but maybe I love her.
Love is so short, forgetting is so long.

Because through nights like this one I held her in my arms
my soul is not satified that it has lost her.

Spending a few days in Rome Leaving on Wednesday morning

Will miss you of course ....... and your comments and pictures ..........

Hi Again! .......... Have been back from the beautiful city of Rome for about ten days now, so we are both back into the daily routine, Although i did have another break spending a magical weekend with my sons, grandson and friend having fun on the wonderful coast of Wales.

Those of you who have visited Rome will not need reminding of just how busy a city it is! Thousands of people miling around, some in great large groups others in family group, or, as we were ......... in pairs, as lovers! but all wanting to see the same sights as everyone else! What a fab city to be in with your lover! Plenty of bars and clubs to spend time in trying to be romantic!

The whole place is a wonderful museum ........ the best way to see everything,we found was to walk! And walk we did!! This way we had some long but very enjoyable days and evenings taking in most of the major sights and some lesser known one's .......... but we always found time for drink and a "nightcap" ( If you know what I mean!?) back at our hotel.

Highlight for us were: our fab hotel, The Colosseum, the cool Itailian people in cool Italian bars, the Baroque architecture, The Roman Forum, The Pantheon and the fab Babbingtons Tea Rooms, plus loads of little piazza's off the beaten track.

But there are other things that I feel passionately and sometimes desprate about and have done for many years! And I don't think things getting any better! .......... read on!

Well, have finally come back down to earth after a wonderful time over July and August, back to the normal hum-durm of everyday life dealing with the awful weather, bills and other realities of home and the world situations.

We visited Turkey and Ireland .......... and, various places in the UK ......

Having had such a wonderfully enjoyable time in various part of Europe and realising just how lucky and fortunate some people are really brings home the plight of less fortunate in the world.

The opression of women is particularlly incomprehensable. Apart for any human rights issues it highlights, how can any nation aford to restrict 50% of the population in their country!! What a waste of talent and brain power!! Is it that the men are frightened and intimidated by the intellect and skills of women folk? So much action needed here abouts.

Please try to read "The Swallow Karbul" As it touches on the subject above ........Totally shocking, if its true a account.

Sorry for the rant!

Well, hope you enjoy at least some of the pictures from the summer and can find the time and the inspiration to comment on a few. Will be a blast to hear from you again ...........

We are now planning a trip to Boston USA in October ......... hopefully we will be able to capture some "fall" moments with the camera ........

When things in your lives seem almost too much to handle, when 24 hours in a day are not enough, remember the mayonnaise jar and the two cups of coffee.

A professor stood before his philosophy class and had some items in front of him.

When the class began, he wordlessly picked up a very large, empty mayonnaise jar and proceeded to fill it with golf balls.

He then asked the students if the jar was full
They agreed that it was.

The professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured them into the jar.
He shook the jar lightly. The pebbles rolled into the open area between the golf balls.
He then asked the students again if the jar was full.
They agreed it was.

The professor picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar. Of course the sand filled up everything else.
Once more he asked the students if the jar was full.
The students responded with a unanimous "Yes."

The professor then produced two cups of coffee from under the table and poured the entire contents into the jar effectively filling the empty space between the sand.
The students laughed.

"Now," said the professor as the laugh subsided, "I want you to recognze that this jar represents your life.

The golf balls are the important things ...... your family, your children, your health, your friends and your favorite passions ...... and if everything else was lost and only they remained, you life would still be full.

The pebbles are the other things that matter like your job, your house your car.

The sand is everything else.... the small stuff."If you put the sand into the jar first," he continued," there is no room for the pebbles or the golf balls.

The same go for life. If you spend all your time and energy on the small stuff you will never have room for the things that are important to you.

"Pay attention to the things that are critical to your happiness. Play with your children. Take time to get medical checkups. Take your lover out to dinner.

There will always be time to clean the house and fix the disposal.

Take care of the golf balls first .... the things that really matter.

Set your priorities. The rest is just sand."

One of the students raised her hand and enquired what the coffee represented. The professor smiled.

I'm glad you asked. it just goes to show you that now mater how full your life may seam, there is always room for a couple of cups of coffee with a friend."

The following words are for all lovers of trees but especially for and ........ who are avid tree people! ......

They are taken from the book I am reading at the moment. John Steinbeck wrote such famous novels as East of Eden and The Grapes of Wrath, these were made into equally famous films.

Travels with Charley (first published in 1962 when Steinbeck is 58 year old )is an acount of his travels across the USA with his dog Charley. He reaches Oregon and the land of the gaint Redwood trees. This is how he discribes them and his feelings at the time:

" There is a cathedral hush here. Pehaps the thick soft bark absorbs sound and creates silence. The trees rise straight up to zenith; there is no horison. The dawn comes early and remains dawn until the sun is high. Then the green fernlike foliage so far up strains the sunlight to a green gold and distributes it in shafts or rather in stripes of light or shade. After the sun passes zenith it is afternoon and quickly evening with a wispering dusk as long as was the morning." ........

Back again........ its so nice to go away......... but so nice to return home.........to wallow in the type of reasurance and glow that only home can provide.

World events have sadened my soul .......... the escalation of the troubles in the middle east and the terrible bombing in Mumbia ........ WHY are people so easily aroused and intimidated and fearfull that they are driven to such attacks?? .......... much better a resolve and a determination to do better by acts of kindness and mutual benifit (like peacefull home building)......... but what chance is there for humanity when a few people with little or no wisdom affect so many with inapropriate actions......... so sad .........

Have been out and about in the sunny beautiful countryside for most of the weekend.

We have been to a typically English County Show with horses,catle, al pakers! ,dogs, goats, rabbits,vintage cars and motorcycles on show music and dance and food and drink!! And many things to do. And, many stalls to spend money in!

Have also been to a "Stately Home and gardens "and a "Craft Fair" were we bought a piece of Art Deco stained glass We also watched some "Morris Dancers", English folk dancing troupes :

Its all been intersting and great fun

But now pleased to be back home and looking forward to reading and replying to your many lovely comments !! VERY SOON

UPDATE, UPDATE, UPDATE. Monday 21st June 08.18.

Arivied back from a wonderful stay in North Wales late on Sunday afternoon. Had a great time. We stayed in a house that Shelley the poet, writer and activist once lived in. What an interesting history that place has! And wonderful hosts. We spent time on the beach, in the hills, in the forests and in bed!! We ate some great meals, experienced baking sun, wind and pouring rain! That's British weather for you!

Visited two marina's loking for a boat we should buy. there were plenty we liked but non we could aford!! Will have to think again.

Wildlife we encountered: Duck's, a Herron, Ravens, Plovers, Sandpipers and a variety of garden birds and wild mountain pony's. I managed to get pitures of the herron and the duck only! Mainly because they stood still!! And, of course some general shots of the area. Will sort through them and post a few soon.

Hope you all had BAZZIN weekends, or at least stayed out of serious trouble! s

It has been a long and difficult week........don't really know why..........maybe Iv'e been looking forward to the weekend just to much!.........And it is the end of term and the educational year........always totally shot at this time............

Also, my partner gave a massive presentation yesterday and I was so wound up about that, having lived the prep for it over the last couple of weeks!.........you know what it's like.........

LISTENED TO: AN ALBUM BY KD LANG, CALLED: INVICIBLE SUMMER. KD as many of you will know is Canadian with a great voice. This album traces the time a couple of summers ago when her and her lover where gettining it together. Although the track are upbeat and joyous, you just know that she is coping with a tortured soul.......a lovely album.......

READING: SONG OF INOCENCE AND EXPERIENCE: Am woriking my way through this masterwork, comparing his words on inocence with those on experience. Blake is a master poet! There is always something new to learn!

WATCHED: A GOOD WOMAN, don't pass up the chance to see this wonderful film. It's based on the story, "Lady Windamere's Fan" by Oscar Wilde. Set on Italy's Amalfi coast, it is a story full of intregue and witt with lovely performances that enhance the tale. It stars, amongs many wonderful actors, Scarlett Johansson. There are many beautiful scenes.
