Of course I always make the tattoos too complicated, but for me, that's half the fun... maybe even most of the fun.

Well, ~Krayt-Hett asked if I'd be interested in doing some other species as One Siths. Since there's no pressure to do well, I took up the challenge, because every other art project I want to work on has too much pressure to be done well that I'll likely complete none of them.

So, have started school again. This is a major step for me. Especially since I have yet to convince myself that I can even do it. I can't seem to get organized, focus, or even remember how I did it the first time around.

This school is a two-year school. I have enough credits already to graduate, I just need to take 11 more just so the school feels good enough about claiming me as one of their own.

Three years in college before and the only thing I have to show for it are the student loans and a long-term state of generally worse depression than I've had since I move to West Virginia nearly 10 years ago.

Feeling lost in this world doesn't seem to cut it. I mean, it's not like I don't have my loving Mormon family support. I'm definitely doing better than many people in much worse circumstances. I might not be able to hold down a job (thanks to Lowe's HR assistant telling me to get a grip kinda ruining and self confidence I might've still had). But I've got parents who are letting me live under their roof, use their utilities (I can't seem to be able to call myself poor when I know I have DSL internet access).

But, yeah... what was my point? I guess I'm not sure what's holding my sanity together at this point, but I've discovered something that seems to be EXACTLY what I needed: "The Middleman", it’s a new ABCFamily show. I happened upon part of their series premiere and found just what I needed. (ABCFamily’s tagline is "ABC: A new kind of family"; yeah that seems to glamorize sex and stupidity)

This show is cooler than all the Stargates and Harry Potters combined! I mean, Middleman is like "Gargoyles" standing out from Disney's kiddie-er shows and being an awesome source of quality entertainment for an audience who enjoys... (I'm not sure how to put this) more intelligent programming.

Not that the Middleman is an excessively intelligent show. They're like Stargate in that they gloss over the technicalities and don't get hung up on it like Star Trek sometimes tended to. Instead Middleman laughs in the face of technicalities! I mean, my OCDness still makes me want to rationalize different aspects, but at least it's easier than with Stargate and Charmed... as long as it takes place in L.A. that's the only place where it'd make sense... either that or New York, but their accents don't fit.

Anyway, the main characters are "the Middleman" and his new Middleman-in-training Wendy Watson. In the first episode you think that Matt Keeslar can't act, but as you go along, you realize that the character of the Middleman is SUPPOSE to be an impossible DORK! And that's one of the major reasons I love this show to pieces! It's ridiculous, funny, interesting, and it's given me something to look forward to. I can’t really dive into the fandom, cause I really don’t need something else to suck my hours of the day into, but I need to do some fan art to officially being this phase (though I have already started on a music video.)

Oh yeah, btw, I’m going to be trying to re-upload my music vids to YouTube (even since MGM made YouTube do their purge and I didn’t check my messages enough and lost everything; at least it’s all still on my harddrive. But that othergirl who plagiarized my Firefly vid probably has been happily claiming my work in the meantime.

To define "Mormons" for ya.

That title for this entry I hope will inspire some discussion. Apparently lots of folks still think we're a secretive, closed-off cult.

I want to answer questions, if someone has any, about the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. No, I do not intend to preach here, nor offend! I have high respect for, well, I try and have a high respect for everybody and strongly believe that everyone deserves an equal chance.

Knowledge is power. People fear what they don't understand. For this reason many people seem to think Mormons are freaky cultists. I just want to clarify. (This is not a place for bashing anybody! Respect the rules that DeviantArt has put in place!)

Okay, so to address the main question, are Mormons (which is a nickname given to members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints) Christian?

First
You need to define Christian.

People who believe in Jesus Christ? Jews and Muslims even believe that Jesus was at least a prophet and even then the man did actually lived.

So, how about we define it as "people who believe and follow the teachings of Jesus Christ". In that case, yes, Mormons are Christian.

Then comes the problem of how does one define Christ's Doctrine?
Some people think that Christians are people who accept the Nicene Creed (an attempt made a long time ago to unit the different interpretations of Chrisitianity) the LDS church... well, we feel God should define his laws, not man trying to appeal to what they think the people want to hear.

In high school, when I tried to join the local Christian Fellowship, I had the teacher/leader explain to me that some of the kids didn't think Mormons were Christians. She said that as long as I believed that Jesus was the only son of God and that he will save us all, that it was all fine and dandy.
Will that definition, I could see a loop-hole which didn't include Mormons: we believe that we are all spirit children of God, and the Jesus was his only begotten son in the flesh.

I heard once (RUMOR, I'd love for this to be clarified) that the RLDS (Community of Christ) changed their policies so that you don't have to believe anything about it's origins to be a member of the church. I heard that was so they could be a member of a group of "Christian" churches.
Now, if being a member of a church that was a member of this group is what it means to be Christian, than I'm happily not. I strongly believe in the Book of Mormon as a gospel of ancient American prophets, and that Joseph Smith Jr. was the man led to discover that book. If to be christian means to let go of that, than you're welcome to call me a freaky heathen!

Oh, and another thing: Mormons DO NOT practice polygamy! (the practice of having more than one wife) They did at one time, but this practice was abandoned before Utah even became a state. You have issues with the fact that they once did? All I ask is do you realize how many ancient prophets did? Abraham had Hagar and Sarah; Jacob had Leah, Rachel, Bilhah, and Zilpah.

well, Paul MacGillion is going to be in the next Star Trek movie. If he was going to play Scotty I'd be mad cuz then I'd HAVE to see it. But apparently he's only in one scene or something.

I liked the last season of Enterprise. A lot! I absolutely LOVED how they tied it all back together. (Though, I, like many others, deny the existence of the final episode.)

I kinda considered all new Star Trek material along the same lines as the fan-made Gargoyles continuation story. It's not as easily accessed so why should I count that as canon?

(Star Wars is an exception because nearly everything is counted, and well documented, so even though I have no hope to catch up on anything near everything, if they say it's canon, I'll go with it [I just thought there was a way to work around the male!Revan thing, not by denying the canonness of the canonizing comicbook, but by questioning the interpretation. I'm now okay with it... I just want to see a happy F!Revan/Carth happily-ever-after)

So... should I see the next Star Trek movie? It's a prequel, about my least favorite ST series... Well, I like all the characters EXCEPT for Kirk.

So, I both went to an airport on 9-11's 5-year anniversary, and drove through Sommerset, PA. I wasn't expecting that.

9-11 was a defining day for my generation.

It defined the base depths to which humanity could sink; but it also should that in each one of us ordinary folks, that we have the potential to be heros, cowards, selfless, brave, or to be able to unify and become instant brothers with total strangers.

Some of us how no idea how we would react in a situation like that. Gudging by our reactions to the news, I think we all learned something about our own selves.

That day showed humanity's worst and humanities best. I'm proud to be able to call that same nation all those heros came from my home. As an artist I wish there was a way I could express how poud I am of those people. You see Hollywood and how pathetic the people of our nation can get, but it's the quieter, ordinary folks I like to think make up the majority of this nation.

well, I hadn't updated my journal in a long while and thought I might as well.

I'm off that one medication now! YAY! *parties*
But now I've become an only child since my sibs are off to school and I'm too pathetic to handle it anymore. (hey, it's honestly how I feel)

Trying to workyourself off of a huge medication that you've been on for 5+ years is hard. The result is mood swings, absentminded/airheaded-ness, and REALLY strange dreams... I might go into them later.

I'm trying to keep my other projects together and my obligations, but I am just not all here, mentally.
