I had told you people that I was going to update this a looooong time ago. I totally had to try the new free Journal skin too. So I graduated college in May 2009, with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. I found a job at a zoo in Pennsylvania. Its called Clyde Peeling's Reptiland. If you are ever in the Williamsport/Allenwood area of PA, you should stop by! Its a great little zoo. It is a specialized zoo--it only houses reptiles and some amphibians. There are snakes, lizards, frogs, geckos, and turtles and tortoises. I love it there. All the people I work with are great and the animals are great as well. Most of the lizards have a little bit of a personality that show up-which most are cute! I have made some great friends there.

I have saved up 16 days off that I can use whenever I want. In the near future, maybe after Christmas I am going to go visit We have always said we were going to visit each other, but now I am going to do something about it. We just have to make sure we are both going to be in PA. lol.

When I get back home to PA ( I am visiting Alabama right now), I am going to start riding again. I miss riding so much! I can't imagine not having horses in my life. They are great if you need some Horse Therapy to make you feel better. They make me smile at least.

I can't wait for the Holidays. I am going to decorate my apartment for Christmas, I might even be able to get a tree to put up. I love the Holidays--time for family to get together.

Talk to you soon!

So I guess I should update this journal with the happenings of my summer.

I had an internship at the Capron Park Zoo in Attleboro Massachusetts this summer, and I had the time of my life!! It started in May and went until August. I was in three different rotations during the summer. I started out in the Maintenance/Operations area. I was cleaning the public areas and building things for the exhibits. That took about 3 weeks.
In June I moved onto Animal Care...which was my favorite part of the entire summer! I did a lot of cleaning exhibits and indoor areas for the animals. I made up diets for the animals..which is harder than it seems..haha. I also got to play with some of the animals! My favorite animal there to play with were the Black and White Ruffed Lemurs! They will jump on your shoulders, your back, grab at your pants. Oh they are adorable!! After Animal Care was Education. I helped the camp kids with animal care duties. They would clean up after the llamas/goats and the kangaroos and emus. They also were able to create some of the diets for the animals. They seemed to love it!
I was loved by all the keepers there. I would work there all day..and I would be 'stolen' from different keepers throughout the day. I would start off with Adam, get stolen by Steph, go back to Adam, then end up with Keri at the end of the day. They loved me and I loved them.
I had such a great time there. I made so many good friends and I am still in touch with them now that I am back at school.

I lived in the Rhode Island area and commuted into Attleboro. I really miss being in Rhode Island. I made some good friends there too and Providence is such a happening town. Lots to do and see! I can't wait to go back and visit!

I will tell you all about school later!

Now they want him to do it again.

Read this:

In 2007, Guillermo Vargas Habacuc, a so called ‘artist’, took a dog from the streets, tied it up to a short rope attached to a wall in an art gallery, and let it slowly die of hunger and thirst. For various days, the author of this horrible cruelty and the visitors of the gallery were impassible spectators of the poor animal’s torture, until it slowly died after an absurd and incomprehensible agony.

Do you think this is cruel?
But the story doesn’t end here: the prestigious Biennale Centroamericana of Art has decided, incomprehensibly, that the bestiality committed by the aforementioned individual is art, and in such a way Guillermo Vargas Habacuc has been invited to repeat the cruelty at the 2008 Biennale Centroamericanan which will be held in Honduras.
I am getting a new puppy!!!! I work at the local Humane society and there are dozens of dogs that come in that I just love instantly...or some that grow on me.., but there was one puppy that I couldn't help but love. He is a sheltie mix or a collie mix. His name is Sailor...it seriously fits him. What makes him so special, is he has detached retinas, so he is pretty much blind. We think he can see shadows because he will follow me around there or look at you when you walk up to him. My mom came down to pick me up the one day..and she also loved him instantly. We had to do a little bit of sweet talking to my dad though..lol..but he has said okay. We just have to see if my other two dogs will be okay around him...(which won't be a problem)...and then he is ours. My mom said that she doesn't care about the vet bills if he has any. Choosing between a good home or getting put to sleep...i go for the good home. He is only a few months old and the most darling thing. Here is a picture of him on the humane society website : [link] I already have a plan. I am getting an ice cream cake for all the ladies down at the shelter for letting me work there, and I am going to ask my mom if she can bring Sailor (if we get him) to visit everyone during our lunch break..just to say hello. I just can't wait to bring him home!!!

Hey guys...this might be a pointless journal..but thats ok

A lot of people have told me that I have a unique name/oh I like your name Roo/where did you come up with your Deviant name. So I will tell you.
I used to work at a barn in high school. There were about 18 horses there..so 18 stalls to clean...wooo. Anyway...one horse..was my favorite..personality wise. His name was Roo. He wasn't allowed to go outside in the pasture with other horses because he would fight with them. When he was little he was a gelding and put in a pasture with two stallions. Poor guy had to learn to fight for everything. So he was pretty messed up. His owner hardly came down so he wasn't fit to ride either. I liked him because when I would walk into the aisle..he would always say a little greeting. It was probably more along the lines of 'Food!' than an actual hello. Sometimes i would put him on the crossties and groom him (he always had to be on the last one..so he could see what was going on in the rest of the barn...) and try to fix his feet..he had thrush..since he was in his stall all the time..and his stall was always very wet. I would take him outside and let him eat grass sometimes..then he got really excited. The owner and I would put him in the roundpen..he would gallop around non-stop..i think once he actually broke a board running and bucking so much. He was just full of personality...I'm just sad that he wasn't able to ride and didn't behave better. So I would take care of him..and I would call him Rooble roo. Hence the name I loved him...then one day I went down to the barn..and he had been sold to another person..who I guess was going to try to fix him up. I wish I had known where he went so I could go visit him.

On another note..my mom came to visit me here at school yesterday..and told me that my other favorite horse at the barn had died His name was Caddo and was a Tennessee Walker. He was very shy and tripped a lot when you rode him..but definitely still had that wonderful running walk. I loved to ride him..it was great. He moved to South Carolina last year..and I guess died there. He was probably in his late 30s or maybe 40s..Im not really sure how old he was. RIP Caddo..

Thanks to anyone who has read this entire thing Kudos to you

Soooooo....I had to go to an information session about an internship at the Philadelphia Zoo this weekend. Boy...did things go wrong. I left school at 4 with my mom. We got onto Interstate-80 east. It was getting dark out and the traffic stopped!! On 80 that means there is an accident and there is hardly any way to get off. So we sat in that spot for 2 hours! Finally at 8:05 we started moving. There were accidents all over the place. The roads got pretty bad at one point...it was almost covered in ice. Once off of 80 we were fine until we got into Philadelphia. We tried to follow the directions but they were not very good. We got lost in central Philly....then we ended up across town. All we wanted to do was find the bridge to get to our hotel. Then we ended up in New Jersey! Oh god...so to get back into Pennsylvania we had to pay 3 dollars...We found the hotel that way..but it was a bad trip. It is only supposed to take 3 hours, but it took us 8 hours. With all the stops and getting lost...it was definitely an experience...wow. But I did have fun at the zoo meeting. Hopefully next time I go to Philadelphia will be better. It was crazy. Coming back was a little easier. My mom dropped me off at my roommates house and she went directly home. From Philly to my house is 4 hours and she knows the way. So I went with my roommate and it was about 3 hours. God....I wish roads were easy to navigate on...oh well..
I haven't had any inspiration to draw, I want to..but everything I draw turns out yucky. If any of you have any ideas of what I could draw...give 'em to me.....

HOW COULD YOU?

By Jim Willis 2001

When I was a puppy, I entertained you with my antics
and made you laugh. You called me your child, and despite
a number of chewed shoes and a couple of murdered throw
pillows, I became your best friend. Whenever I was "bad,"
you'd shake your finger at me and ask "How could you?" --
but then you'd relent, and roll me over for a bellyrub.

My housebreaking took a little longer than expected, because
you were terribly busy, but we worked on that together.
I remember those nights of nuzzling you in bed and listening
to your confidences and secret dreams, and I believed that
life could not be any more perfect. We went for long walks
and runs in the park, car rides, stops for ice cream (I only
got the cone because "ice cream is bad for dogs," you said),
and I took long naps in the sun waiting for you to come home
at the end of the day.

Gradually, you began spending more time at work and on
your career, and more time searching for a human mate.
I waited for you patiently, comforted you through heartbreaks
and disappointments, never chided you about bad decisions,
and romped with glee at your homecomings, and when you
fell in love. She, now your wife, is not a "dog person" -- still
welcomed her into our home, tried to show her affection, and
obeyed her. I was happy because you were happy.

Then the human babies came along and I shared your
excitement. I was fascinated by their pinkness, how they
smelled, and I wanted to mother them, too. Only she and
you worried that I might hurt them, and I spent most of
my time banished to another room, or to a dog crate.
Oh, how I wanted to love them, but I became a "prisoner
of love."

As they began to grow, I became their friend. They clung to
my fur and pulled themselves up on wobbly legs, poked
fingers in my eyes, investigated my ears, and gave me
kisses on my nose. I loved everything about them and their
touch -- because your touch was now so infrequent -- and I
would have defended them with my life if need be. I would
sneak into their beds and listen to their worries and secret
dreams, and together we waited for the sound of your car in
the driveway.

There had been a time, when others asked you if you had a
dog, that you produced a photo of me from your wallet and
told them stories about me. These past few years, you just
answered "yes" and changed the subject. I had gone from
being "your dog" to "just a dog," and you resented every
expenditure on my behalf.

Now, you have a new career opportunity in another city, and
you and they
will be moving to an apartment that does not allow pets.
You've made the right decision for your "family," but there
was a time when I was your only family. I was excited
about the car ride until we arrived at the animal shelter.
It smelled of dogs and cats, of fear, of hopelessness.

You filled out the paperwork and said "I know you will find
a good home for her." They shrugged and gave you a
pained look. They understand the realities facing a
middle-aged dog, even one with "papers."

You had to pry your son's fingers loose from my collar as
he screamed "No, Daddy! Please don't let them take my dog!"
And I worried for him, and what lessons you had just taught
him about friendship and loyalty, about love and responsibility,
and about respect for all life. You gave me a good-bye
pat on the head, avoided my eyes, and politely refused to
take my collar and leash with you. You had a deadline to
meet and now I have one, too.

After you left, the two nice ladies said you probably knew
about your upcoming move months ago and made no
attempt to find me another good home. They shook their
heads and asked "How could you?"

They are as attentive to us here in the shelter as their
busy schedules allow. They feed us, of course, but I
lost my appetite days ago. At first, whenever anyone passed
my pen, I rushed to the
front, hoping it was you that you had changed your mind --
that this was all a bad dream ... or I hoped it would at least
be someone who cared, anyone who might save me. When I
realized I could not compete with the frolicking for attention
of happy puppies, oblivious to their own fate, I retreated to a far
corner and waited.

I heard her footsteps as she came for me at the end
of the day, and I padded along the aisle after her to a
separate room. A blissfully quiet room.

She placed me on the table and rubbed my ears, and told
me...

Rules: You should know the rules by now. If and when you get tagged, you answer the questions and tag more people. This time you tag 1-3 people (there have been complaints that some people don't know enough people to tag). But this time, add your own question onto the end.

How would you describe yourself in 5-15 words?
hmm...let's see: creative, unique, nice, random, a little weird...(arent we all!! )...and I do have a few dumb moments from time to time..haha

How might others describe you?
Hmm...they might say that i am a nice person, that can make you laugh...i think my friends would say im good for the soul..haha....i am almost always in a good mood..haha....

Favorite book?
The Harry Potter series..so far at least. I havent found a book yet that can overdo the magic and wonder that these books have.

Favorite movie?
Again..it would have to be Harry Potter movies..they just bring so much to the screen...all the magic that is in the books. I am also a big horse movie fan..like Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron, Seabiscuit, Brothers Grimm, and Pirates..so I really dont have ONE fav. movie..haha

Favorite thing to do with your friends?
lets see...just being with them..talking about what happened..laughing for hours on end...its great. Going out and all of us buying a ben and jerry ice cream and eating it all in one night...those are the great times!

If you could be anywhere in the world right now, where would you be?
Well since it is summer..right now I would rather be up at Camp with my camping crew...just talking and having fun. If it wasnt summer...i would like to go back to Italy...but I would really like to visit Santorini, Greece!

One odd/interesting fact about yourself:
I want to own a menagerie of animals someday..like 2 or 3 dogs..most likely 2...maybe a kitty or two...and some horses. Oh and by the way...i dont want to own a ranch..so ill have to have one hell of a yard..hahah.

Do you like Bush?
I dont really follow the admisistration that closely and when it comes time to vote i cant watch the commercials because everyone lies...but i do know is that we have had better presidents..so i guess not..im kinda in the middle....i dont care..haha

Who do you like?
My friends, my dogs, my parents...well you never said that it had to be a crush like..so i like people..haha. But even if it was a crush like question..do you really think i would tell you. XD

Harry Potter or Lord of the Rings?
Definitely Harry Potter! I mean come on people...Lord of the Rings is good too..but...well im not sure actually. I do like Harry Potter better, I never did read the LOTR books...i couldnt..too many names..i got confused...but i do like the LOTR movies...so im inbetween again..haha..but leaning closer to Harry...XD

WHAT...is the air-speed velocity of an unladen swallow? o_O
well..is is a 1 pound swallow carrying a 3 pound cocunut OR is it an African Swallow! XD ahhh

What would you do for a Klondike Bar?
I would ask my grandmother for one...haha..she always has them in her freezer..but if i had to...i would dance around the room i guess!!!

When you were little...were you a Power Ranger or a Ghostbuster!?
Well...my brother and i were both..haha. He had all the Ghostbuster gear and he normally played that. But when we did play Power Rangers, I was usually the pink one and he was the red one..haha.....the good ole days..!

Now I tag.....

Well, today I had a busy day at work...we were swamped..anyway....My friend called me and said that she needed to talk to me. I was worried, I thought she was sad. So I told her to wait on her porch for me.

So, I got home and went over. She is my next door neighbor and one of my best friends for 17 years. We met each other when we were tiny. So she told me about her day...and I told her about mine. I told her that I needed to remember my earliest memory for my Psychology class tomorrow (Thursday...*looks at clock* or today...hehe ) So we were just talking about how my grandmother used to babysit both of us and a few others. How we played with the two power ranger cats that transformed into legs, How when my grandmother made play-do...the one boy would eat it because it had salt and sugar in it, how our lunch menu probably only consisted of soup, mac and cheese, and the best peanut butter and jelly sandwiches ever made..because that is what we liked..hehe. and we just tried to remember what the room looked like. Now someone else is living there because my grandmother had to be moved to a nursing home...dont worry she is fine she likes it there. I just wish I could see that house like the way it was. Before we knew it, it was 1:15 in the morning..and I have class today...so I said that I had to leave. I love getting together with someone like a friend and saying..oh do you remember this..or oh yeah I remember that..and then this happened...and just laughing about it. If you really think about it..I am not really that old. I have only been alive for 18 years. But remembering what happened when we were little and the memories we made..it just seems like a life time ago.

Well thats all I have for now...kind of a pointless journal entry but I had to tell someone...

If you read this all..i applaude you...
I saw the owner of Obe, he is a 4 year old Morgan, and she said that Caddo and Roo both left. SO later I talked to the owner about it. She said that Caddo was shipped down to South Carolina with his family. Poor Caddo was 30...much to old to withstand a ride to the Carolinas....I hope he made it ok. I loved riding him...it was great.
Then I asked about Roo, and she said that the owner stopped paying his bills. So she sold him. THis poor horse. He didnt like other horses, he would kick his walls and "fight" for everything. When he was younger and was a gelding he was stuck in a field with two stallions, so he learned to fight for everything. Once he got to this barn, the owner never came down and rode him...so the owner didnt know what he was like. He could have been a good riding horse. Oh well....he was sold.

So today is a sad day in my world of horses.... I think the only thing to do now is to make a picture for them both....Hopefully I can remember what they look like..haha. Caddo was so old that he didnt have that proud look in his eyes of being a Walker anymore....oh well.

Thanks for listening..haha.
