When I was 6 or 7, maybe? Lived without electricity for a long time, so I drew these atrocious paper dolls and then cut them out and did terrible things to them. It was fun. They were ugly. Imagine crayon-colored monsters.

✖ Which hand do you use for drawing?
Left. For everything, actually, except the stuff they stubbornly taught me to do with my right hand.

✖ Which is easier to draw - male or female?
Female, maybe? I feel more comfortable with female anatomy, but I draw more guys.

✖ Which is easier to draw - long hair or short hair?
Hmm, short. I think my long hair looks creepy unnatural.

✖ Is it easier to draw the head facing towards the right or the left?
My right or theirs? I guess I draw better when the face is pointing towards my left.

✖ Is it easier to draw the side view of the face or the front view?
Both are hard. I put the eyes in the wrong places. And the nose and mouth and stuff. all. the time.

✖ What do you have problems in drawing?
...What don't I have trouble drawing? I guess mostly I have trouble making everything the right size and in the right place. Anatomy and proportion kill me dead all the time. I won't even talk about perspective... it's a sad, sad sight to see me attempt it. This is what happens when a little hermit child teaches herself to draw for her entire life without any guidance from anyone but her mom and siblings.

✖ What do you like to draw?
People. Anime-style people. Blood. :3 My sad attempts at expression through pose and colors.

✖ Are you a traditional artist or a digital artist?
Both. I can't really draw lineart on my computer, because the screen resolution is kinda small and my tablet freezes all the time, but I don't have the tools to color traditionally. So, pencil lineart, digital coloring. :3

✖ Where do you start drawing from?
The edge of the chin... Usually. ;A;

✖ What is your drawing habit that you are aware of?
Holding my paper upside down in front of a lightbulb to make sure that the anatomy doesn't look sucky backwards. It still does, usually. Being a lefty, I have that terrible habit of writing with my hand twisted upward and around, so my hand scrapes over whatever I draw; a lot of erasing is involved.

✖ Any tips for coloring/shading?
o___o I am not qualified to give these tips. B-but overlay layers are my friend. Multiply was made for clipping layers.

✖ How long does it take to finish a piece of art?
Depends. Usually less than a couple hours (give or take an hour or so) for the basic lines, then several hours for obsessive coloring.

✖ What music do you listen to while you draw?
Usually I don't listen to too much music, but if I listen to anything, it will probably include some Vienna Teng, Poets of the Fall, Skillet, Relient K, Tatu, Trading Yesterday, Within Temptation, Nightwish, or sumfin like that. :3 It depends on what I'm drawing and what mood I'm in.

✖ How long does it take you to come up with an idea?
Usually I start with a desperate need to draw and a basic idea or emotion, and let it work itself out as it will with the lines.

✖ Your favorite drawing utensils?
Cheap .7 mm mechanical pencil, printer paper. I hear of these wonderful things called .5 mm pencils, but I've only ever seen one. I wannnt.... && Photoshop 7.0, in all its outdated glory.

✖ Your favorite color/the color that you use a lot?
Blue is my favorite color. I use it a lot. But not bright blue. I have this atrocious habit of using dirty, earthy colors, because they're my favorites. Primary colors are my personal enemy.

✖ Your favorite style(s)?
I tend toward darkish and kind of grungy stuff. When something is too pristine, it scares me. I love just staring at other people's art. I love looking at shading. It's so cool. I'M SUCH A FRIKKIN' BEGGAR AMONG GENIUSES.

In just a few minutes, the last day of my free life will be over, and the day where I will move out and have no scanner will begin. In less than eight hours, I'm going to college, to work 480 hours over the summer to pay for my room and board on campus. ;A; The worst part? I still haven't decided for certain what I'm going to do. All of the potential careers I'm interested in are kind of whimsical and useless in a recession. (Writer, journalist, teacher, counselor, graphic artist...) Yeah.

HAVE I EVER MENTIONED THAT I FAIL AT LIFE?

FFFF, anyway, so I'm thinking of trying to decode my tablet (which is tiny, hates me, and has pressure sensitivity that rarely ever works) and using that to draw with. Maybe the college has a scanner.

I'm so horribly lazy. Being busy kills my brain and drives me batty. And the college requires incoming students to work all year long, and it will pay their tuition. Which I need so very much. BUT GACK. It's going to be busy.

Nah, actually there are actually a couple drawings I've done, but my scanner decided to die, too. I got a lil' tablet from my dad, for Christmas, since last year's is the first and last "big" Christmas we'll ever have, and I am so happy! But... I can't get the pressure sensitivity to work. I think I'm going to reinstall it soon to see if that gets things back in working order. ^^

The world is conspiring against me!

Actually, it's probably just that my creative muse is taking a loooong vacation. Writing and art-wise, I'm trying to regain my balance (lol, was I ever balanced in the first place?) so maybe I can upload a few drawings if I can ever kick that scanner back into working order.

I just watched Death Note.

Waaah, I love L! He's gotta be the quirkiest, craziest, most awesome anime character ever. My sister can like Light if she wants, but L is the most awesome character in the world. Anyway,

Death Note is a pretty twistedly awesome series, though from some of the most recent story arcs... I'm wondering how it could live up to its previous awesomeness. Can it really get better?

Aaaaanyway, I guess it's been a while since I've been around! I've been on the truck with my dad, driving around the U.S.A. It's been fun, but I'll be going back to the house tomorrow.

I also started reading a new manga, but Death Note is taking up all my conscious thought right now.

I can safely say I HATE CATS.

No...I guess I don't hate them. But I do hate that horrible, piercing moan they make while they're in heat. My older brother (moved out) has decided to shove his spoiled Siamese on us. She's very beautiful, all slender and graceful-looking, pretty blue eyes...

But she's driving us crazy.

Maybe it's her moaning, or maybe my mind and body have just decided that they hate me, but I've been getting an average of three to four hours of sleep per night.



I usually stay up through the night and sleep until afternoon, but that cat has kept me up until past seven in the morning and woke me up before noon day after day. I'm all for pacifism, but it would be a lie to say that I haven't thought about doing very evil things to her.

I actually got five hours of sleep this morning, which is a very large improvement over the last few nights...but if I ever reply to anything incomprehensibly, or if you are reading this simply because I left a comment that made no sense at all and seemed utterly insane, and are trying to find out who exactly I am to be so random, stupid, random, brainless or random, then you've come to the right place.

I'm glad the ice fell, though, because the trees couldn't have taken much more weight, and it's snowing now!

The forecast says we're going to get four to six inches—our first good snow of the year! I'm so happy!

The snow is really falling outside, and the ground is slowly turning white, so...I'm happy.

We had to bring a lot of wood onto the porch, though! *is exhausted* We heat with wood heat, and we had to work outside (gloves and hats, lol) to get wood off of the pile, onto the porch, and into the house.

I was very warm when we were done. Much moving involved. ^^ I hope the wood will last! Mom can't pay for anymore right now and the only people she could have gotten it from are out.

But I'm warm right now, and the snow is very pretty, so...

Let it snow!

*has now got that tune stuck in her head*

I was the only one awake.

It was actually pretty freaky at one point. Okay, I am NOT afraid of the dark, but when weird sounds are crunching in the leaves and you can't see to take a single step, things can get pretty weird. And we don't have flashlights!

Thank goodness we heat with wood, otherwise we would have frozen to death.

So...I lit a few of our old oil lamps (which made me oh so happy for my mom's old-fashioned spirit; oil lamps are very nice when it's dark) and read manga by firelight. The electric just came back on.

BAD NEWS?

Oh yes, there is.

Another ice storm, worse than the last, is on its way and should arrive in a couple hours...if the weatherman got it right.

I don't know if the electric will actually go out again, but the city where my older sister and brother live is pretty much a disaster zone. The electric is out—all restaurants are closed, and shelters have been opened.

I don't think it'll get that bad here, but if it does... the bad thing about living in the woods is that there are more trees that can fall on you.

Hehe, so if I'm not on for a while, it's either because the electric went out and stayed out...or...something else.

*hugs* Here's hoping I'm lucky and everything stays up and running through the storm. ^^

We left our house to go to the campgrounds after buying all the things we'd need. LOL, we're first time campers. We got tents, some food...all that stuff. After a while we realized that the portable fuel stove we bought at the pawn shop didn't work. (oops) We went out in the car to a Wal-Mart and Dad got one there.

Halfway back to the campgrounds...

"What was that sound?"

The engine died.

Seriously. It died completely and we were moving around crazy turns completely on our own momentum.

We pulled to a safe stop at the information building and had to call someone to help. The man who towed our car away was nice enough to drive us back to the grounds, but from that point on, we had no car, and had to walk two miles to the nearest camp store so we could get some food. It was really fun, but it was definitely hectic. So...things were a bit crazy this time, but if we go camping again, I hope things will go better.

Well, I've been tagged again by none other than *Sc10 I guess you have to say ten things about your art. Hmmm... here goes nothing.

1. I've been drawing since I was little, but I still have huge amounts to learn.
2. For some reason, people are the easiest and the most interesting subject to me. Animals and plant life are hard!
3. I know anatomy but I rarely implement that knowledge correctly in my art. I always find a way to draw something completely wrong.
4. I love emotion, and I try to convey it in my art. That's why I love the manga style so much. It gives an amazing opportunity to show emotion through the eyes.
5. I learn from everything, from watching people (LOL, they must think I'm a perverted whack job) to emulating and learning from other styles.
6. I'm a perfectionist art-wise, but never perfect.
7. Hehe...I love drawing wings!
8. I'm a traditional artist, now and forever. Pencils, pen, paper and a good eraser will probably hold me out. I appreciate and like all other forms of art, though.
9. I'm my own worst critic.
10. I'm...just an artist.
