Meaning of Photography

To me photography is capturing moments in time. To express yourself through the portrayal of any moment or image you capture. It allows anyone who gazes upon it to reflect on that moment in time in any way they desire. It can evoke certain feelings, thoughts, ideas or just present the pleasure of simple beauty. It can give you new perspective on things, show you everyday sights in ways you otherwise wouldn't have seen them. They are like memories. To the eye, it captures every visual element of a given subject. To the mind, it can capture much more, to the imagination. The action, the smells, sounds and with a sensitive person with vivid perception, even physical touch.

When taking pictures, your focus should be mostly on what it is you want to capture. With only this much in mind you have a great start. All of the other details come secondary. When you already see so many different things in the world around you, it's very easy to begin capturing those things. When the world around you means nothing to you, or meaning must be brought to you, you'll find it more difficult. In this way, I find photography and spirituality or philosophy are connected. Previous pictures can give you the opportunity to see through your own eyes of the past. To express yourself with photography means to take something from within yourself and create the image of that thing externally. If you know yourself well, this comes easy. If you don't, you'll find it more difficult. In this way, too, I find spirituality and photography are connected.

This is what I find in photography.

Tagged by: San

Rules
1) Post these rules.
2) Each person tagged must post 8 random facts about themselves.
3) Tags should write a journal/blog of these facts.
4) At the end of the post 8 more persons are tagged and named.
5) Go to their page and leave a comment telling them they're tagged.

1. I am a completely normal person. But, I find it funny, and laugh, that I aspire to "grow up to be" just like Christ. Genuinely enlightened, able to practice it and experience it in some form in every waking moment, with the ability to spread this joy to others and the world.

2. I just now, while writing this, invented an entire religion revolving around poop. For more details, look to LiveJournal where I will post how.

3. I am a great uncle, despite my young age.

4. I am pretty hairy.

5. Once I stealth'd on a cop, when a friend threw a snowball at a car, only it was a cop car and they came back. The cop came out, knocked on the house door, looked around for us. All the while, I was up in a tree, watching his every movement. I didn't hop straight out because I didn't want to take him by surprise, and get shot, or anything. So while he wasn't looking, I quietly slid down, like a ninja. Thus, I random stealth ninja'd on a cop, yo'.

6. I can make several odd noises, and can whistle at various tones, almost alternating two at the exact same time, very well. That includes imitating morning birds and the like.

7. I've never been in a lasting direct fight.

8. I am now, generally pretty joyful inside.

9. In kicking, my foot is like a heat-seeking missile to the shin bone, exactly where it hurts. It seems to be some talent I have, I go to kick, it hits exactly where it hurts, without trying.

10. I love you.

You know what? I'll finish the rest of the 'rules' later. Right now, I am hungry.

I got a livejournal too, for actual journal stuff, some stuff is friends only though. Got some recent public ones though cause I thought they were interesting to share. [link]
