Monster Hunter 3: blarg. Tried the demo on the 3DS (no WiiU). Sorry guys, I just don't get it. I couldn't figure out how to kill anything and after dying repeatedly to the first polar bear thing I deleted the demo. I'm sure there's fans, but I've no idea how the multi-player works, and reading forums to snag friend codes hasn't worked so far for any games I've played.

The basic problem in a nutshell is that when artists of written, visual, audio, etc media reach a certain point in their careers, many of them tire of their fan base and lash out at them.  In other words, for any number of reasons they hate/resent their fans.

I've always known of but never read fanfiction.
