Stocking the Shelves

So today some of the members of the New Balance Lifestyle Team, did some community service. We worked a a place packing boxes of food for Thanksgiving. They are for needy Families. I used to be in a needy family growing up. People would donate food to us Often. So getting to do that as part of my job is pretty cool. They ended up getting in lots of very fresh Fruits and Veggies. Some of the best I've seen in a long time. We set everything up and got down and did some surz bizniz!

We got everything done in three hours between the 12 of us on a team packing bags of food for 200 plus families. Some of the bags were from 50lbs and up! I know when I was a kid I was always happy to have a good Thanksgiving dinner because of the food banks, churches, or people in the community donating time, money, and food.

It was some of the stuff that helped me become who I am. Who knows where I'd be if it wasn't for people helping like that. So if you think that stuff like this isn't important, you'd be wrong. So if you can guys, help with money or even a few min when you can. Even if it is only once a year, it still helps a lot.

Stuff like this makes some people see that there are people that care, and even if it's just one person that does something amazing with their life, it's worth it

Ever Not Like Something So Much That You.....

yeah That's where I am with the third-4th page of the Shado vs Rellik comic. I'm working on this sweet splash page, that I ended up having to do over many times now. Including doing everything over from scratch a few more times. It is a bit crazy to do that. You plan it out and like it, then the next day, you just want to start over again.

This happens a lot to me when I do comics. When I did the Shado vs Axen duel not to long ago. I re drew the final page twice.

I re-drew the 3rd page 4 times.

How about you guys? Do you ever do stuff like that? In most cases the final page is better then what you started with. I love it but hate it.

Sketchers Bites New Balance

Okay this made me laugh. The designer who did the materials and colors for the New Balance 442 Candy Collection as seen here:

Sketchers Decided that after the collection has been out for about few months that they'd rip off not just the colors which aren't a big deal but all a majority of the upper pattern.

These people laugh cause it's not the first time they've done this to NB or heck any other company. The funniest part is that these sold for as much as the NB style..... so it's not like they were anything better.

EPIC FAIL and THEY PLAYED THEIR FACE!

another Dungeon Fighter Update and comics

LOL, sorry but I like this game.

The other thing that is funny is that you can tell who has the old school fighting game exp. Like last night I teamed up with a Slayer and Mage. The mage bought it 4 rooms in. Plus the people who seen to play this game don't go through all the rooms which is a bad Idea because then you don't get all the extra awards when you beat the level and the chance for super rare weapons. Anyways, we get to the boss battle which is a golem along with a TON of other golems and a Golem Commander. The trick is to defeat the commander first so they drop their armor and you can trash them easier. Also stay away from the boss. Once he's activated he can really trash you when you're surrounded. Guess what the Slayer did.... So he buys it about 30 seconds into battle. So i'm left up against all the others and the boss. So I go in and using my beat em up skills start throwing down. The boss can't be thrown but if you grab him he'll stop his charge. then if you keep hitting it with strong attacks and standard combos it stuns him. Then when he activates his super armor "ie Mech Zangeif" you go for a grapple and it cancels out the super armor took me 3 min to brigh down the boss alternating between attacks. The funniest part is the people who are dead in your party can see you the whole time and if you win they get exp as well. So after I kicked it's ass they were all "dam ur good!"

LOL

That stuff makes me laugh a lot the cool thing is if you do it right you can tear through a dungeon in less then 10 min even on the harder levels.

on to the comics. Well on that front this weekend and on Friday I wrote out some crazy outlines for the path of Shado's life and even tying in SDL shado and the first Shade. Plus I managed to work in parts for Ellise and Dreanna into the time line as well. So if all goes well with the way I want to do this story it could take place over years. I could easily have 10 years worth of story. All of it leading to Modern Day Shado and you can see how much history he'd have. You could think along the lines of a JoJo's Bizzar Adventure, Dragon Ball, and Berserk w/ some Tenjho Tenge. (god my spelling sucks)

I drew out a world map with ideas of other stories and small plots that would be interesting. Setting up areas for robots, zombies, snowmen, fire mages. It should all work out pretty well.

Plus I plotted out more of the second part of Shado vs Rellik. I know it's taking forever, but there is going to be a total style change and i'm getting it all together. Plus I set up my old scanner that is still way better then my Kodak scanner. So I'll even be able to scann in more of my red and blue pencil sketches.

I've also been going through my binders and piles of sketches that have info on my characters dating back 6 years ago. I'm trying to put them all together so I can have an easier ref library when I start throwing something together that I want to propose to Viz.

So it's about 7:34am and I've been at work now for about 30 min. Ugh it's Dark and cold out. Bleh

Anyways, after doing a Search Online I found a Site that has images posted from the 686/NB party where my art was in the store front.

I've also been playing some more of that Dungeon Fighter Online game. It's pretty addicting for me cause I love the beat em ups. I'm doing pretty good on the game too. It's funny because there are people on the site in PVP matches that like to fight weaker people way too often. I ended up being pitted against a Level 35 Mage and my fighter Shade Dreanna is only at 14. It was funny though cause I was able to take away a Third of their power while my "team" was telling me to just give up. LOL, I got 2nd place in that match. Then there was another Match that I was in last night that I got Ejected from afterwards cause the team that I was on creamed another team that was at the same levels as me.

Oh and I found out that if you have facebook running or somebody else is running that site at the same time as the game it gives you a blue screen of death. On start up, usually after that it's fine.

Then at other times when people have a slow connection they can kill your connection. So a lot of times in some team battles I get crushed because i'm running at a guy and then it freezes and i'm past them doing my shoulder check. Bleh. That part fails. I might have to not use a WiFi connection and run it through the network cable. I'll have to test this.

Besides wasting time on games, I've been working on sketches for my comics and stuff during lunch and that has been going over well. I've got some serious projects that I need to get finished for people that I didn't feel like my skills were up to and I'm correcting that problem too.

I also need to get my work space and my place cleaned up, because it is seriously cluttering up my mind. When my place is messy I think about everything I need to clean and then it bogs me down and I say screw it. Then it goes to hell in a hand basket. So I have some serious work to do with that.

Dungeon Fighter Online

So I'm looking for some people to join up with in beating down some monsters in a Final Fight/Knights of the Round/Dungeons and Dragons style beat em' up MMORPG that is free to play.

The artwork in the game is pretty sweet. The music is pretty good too. I like the designs of the NPC and the bad guys look pretty cool as well. You can upgrade your characters through level ups and gold, but if you want to change the physical looks you need to pay for that. Past that everything else in the game is sweet. You get to team up with for people as well.

If you can get software to map a controller to your keyboard, all the better. Cause then you can do some massive damage and time the jump kicks so much better and even use your healing items.

There is a Gunner, Slayer, Priest, Mage, and Fighter. You need a PC to run it and the latest flash player. It's 2-d style so you won't need a heavy duty system to enjoy it. Or if you have a Mac with Windows on it (I have that) then it works out even better

I was in a pretty Rancid mood. All of which resulted in me making myself sick.

One thing I like to do when I feel like that is blow stuff up in games. For that reason I recommend any of the METAL SLUG games. Those things rock for many reasons. They are over the top funny and violent. TONS of hidden levels. So each time ypu play you can find a new route. Part 3 has some of the coolest things including Multi path ways for each level, you can be a Zombie, Mummy, FAT, ride a Wooly Mammoth and fight Green Squesshy Clones! Then just when you think it's over the action keeps on going.

I have Metal Slug Anthology Which has all of the Arcade games 8 different games. Then there is also Metal Slug 7 for the DS and then Metal Slug Advanced. all are super fun games. If you think the Contra games are hard of Ghouls and Ghosts is Mind Bending and thumb Numbing, Play these games and if you can geta friend to play all the better... trust me Play on easy first unless you want to die a million times. Then if you play on Hard you'll wonder if it is humanly possible to beat the levels.

Fail to the Nth Level

This might be something that I shouldn't talk about on a public site, but I've decided to go forwards with it none the less. I've been having a lot of ups and downs at this new job.... and honestly it's because of the people. Politics at a job drive me nuts, but it's the rationing of the person behind the politics that makes me about as mad as when I'm dealing with the traffic here on a Friday trying to go home.

So earlier this week I ran into something that I'm sure most professional designer and artists or for that matter artists on any level deal with. Attention Whores and Glory Hogs.

So to make a Sneaker look great you have to work with other people and not just yourself. You need the designer to lay out the concept colors and what not, you need the developer to lay down if you can or can't do it and if it is in the price range and doing materials testing and gathering to make something look slick. Then you need a marketing person to show the idea/prototype to the client and SELL IT to them, or give you feed back why it might not work, but they also need to take risks to push the new projects.

Then at the end of a day when a shoe sells and it flies off the shelves you show give your team props and you make it known who you worked with.

That wasn't the case this past week.

A project I was asked to jump on hit it big and got some press. I worked on the colors based off another project's colors that will drop in the spring. I'll be sure to share that with you guys. Anyways, The colors came out good on the projects the client liked em and then the developer on the team hooked it up with some of the best materials he could find after we made some suggestions on some materials. He did a great job on it too because it looked like my Photoshoped image. He even was able to hook up a new tongue logo emboss that came out sweet.

Then after that about 6 months pass and I didn't hear anything. Except whispers....

I heard that the project went over well and there was even some good press on the way... but i only head it because people were talking about it a few cubes away. I guess they thought it was sound proof.... then there was some kind of release party... didn't get invited.... then the press HIT when I stumbled upon it on a high profile site. Standing there holding the shoe was somebody who was sited as being the designer on the project.... when they were the Product Manager.

I could feel my heart Shatter at that point. Then it made me question if all the projects I've worked on to that point were given credit to this same person when they did well.

So at this point I just feel like that person can take the BS press. I mainly take issue with If I post it up in my gallery will I have to worry about getting flamed because it's posted somewhere else that it was done by this other guy when it was really done by me and the developer. I should just say Fuck it and show you all anyways.

Also in only a month or Two I'll be able to share with you guys the projects I first worked on when I started in 2008. The Shoe's style just dropped called the ML525 but those aren't my colors or material choices, YET.

plus There will be 3 other sneaker styles that will be dropping with my art on them. 3 Womens shoes and 2 Mens.

Almost 30 years in the making!

I've got a few other sketches for people and finished art that i need to nail down for people I owe work to don't worry peoples I haven't forgot. Just had to get some stuff out of the way.

There is a possible art book in the works as well.

Marvel and Disney?

Really? I think it was a smart move for Disney... but for the Marvel Shareholders to sell like that sucks. I think that's why it's kind of lame that Marvel was a publicly traded company in the first place.

I also have this feeling now Marvel Characters are going to be on lock down. Are we going to be seeing Spider-Man in the next Kingdom Hearts game now? Are the Characters going to have to follow strict designs now too. Like how every disney Character looks pretty much the same and hasn't changes it's look at all. Will the little guy be able to get a shot at or the dream of using their own style to draw Iron Man or War Machine? Are they also going to make the comics more like the "kid Friendly" Marvel Adventuers comics?

I have this feeling a LOT is going to change..... But I Guess we'll see what happens to the Legendary Characters from Marvel.

It's Been a Year....

.... since I first moved up to MA and started working for New Balance.

You would think I'd be used to living up here now, but that has still yet to happen. I still miss a lot of my friends from home and the fact that there were a lot of people from DA down my way at the conventions that I feel I became good friends with. So I'm living up here still seeking out some people with common interests. Like playing Video Games or hanging out and drawing. You'd think I'd have found that by now, but Nope. So that has me feeling a bit Blah today....

....on the good note since I've been up here I've managed to do things I've never done before, but it seems like that really started to kick off after the depressing winter happened. I've had the chance to working on a lot of Major Inline products that will start hitting the Market this winter. When they do I'll be sure to post up pics of the sneakers so you guy can see what I've done and over the course of a year you'll get to see how I managed to change one sneaker with colors and materials over that time.

I got to have a few sweet teams ups in comics with and and got to see all my comic/da friends on my trip down to MD for Otakon. I also got engaged to

During this time I feel i could see an improvement in my drawing skills starting with these pics and
I feel those two drawings were and are foreshadowing to what I can do if I push myself. All that lead up to me working on my Shado vs Rellik part of my comic which I am working on to get to you guys so the story will be completed.

I'm also starting to make big plans to level up a lot of stuff in my life no matter what is thrown at me and even getting a nicer place to live. As much weird stuff I've dealt with over the years in footwear industry, it has been a major help in letting me grow as an artist and being professional when it comes to my comics and art.

So while the year was kind of Bleh to start it seems like it's getting better as it goes a long, and I intend to make things even better as time goes on.

Major Updates!

Okay, so I haven't written anything since Otakon. So I've got a lot of important things to tell everybody. First the biggest thing in my life happened the weekend of Otakon.

I asked my Girl to Marry me.
She said yes!
So now we are Engaged!
Muhuhahahaha... one step closer to world Domination.

Let's see... Next Otakon was really great for me. I didn't make much money at all... just enough to cover out entry into the con. my buddy was such a trooper to help out and keep company when we went to stand in line for Standard Registration..... in a line that lasted almost 3 hours! She also helped me with setting up my stuff and even helped me with folding and stapling my comics, while made some effin awesome Pepper Steak that first night.

I also got to hang with some awesome tablemates; If not for them there would be no way I'd have gotten a table. Thanks so much for your help.

and I got to do a small Photoshoot together as well. I promise next time we can do an even better one. I'll be working on prefecting my Shadoboxxer costume for that and doing a lot of sweet modifications to the overall design. The gloves that made for me worked out really well with my costume. I just need to make some better adjustments with the straps. Maybe i need a black cat for my shoulder too.... Since Phantom lives in Shado's Jacket.

I also managed to be part of a Law of Telos Photo Shoot as well. That rocked to see so many people dressed as OC's instead of animes. It'd be crazy as hell to see somebody dress up as Shado, Kim, or Boomer one of these days.

Hide! Wait! Follow ME! that was so much fun for the brief time we got to talk and hang out.

Otakon Room

Also turns out I have some extra space in the room I was sharing with my friends. so now it's just going to be my GF in the room with an extra sofa bed. so if there are a few people who'd be interested in crashing with us the room cost is 400 from Thursday to Sunday. So i noticed there are a lot of people bitching...

those people just need to get the hell over themselves. They are botching about what people are writing about in their own journals. If you are tired of it just delete it from your inbox and move on with your lives instead of waiting the time of the poster who feels an obvious overwhelming emotion about the statement they are making in THEIR post. If you're so against it just post an "anti" post in your journal and deal with it.

But then look who i'm talking about... people who need obvious drama in their lives and feel the need to say what they say and then get in on other people's posts and have a bitch fest on another person's journal.

Grow up please?

Then again i noticed that the people who do the entries tend to ignor them anyways. Still.....

The guy made an impact on people's lives for better or worse. Remember him how your choose, but don't go bitching on other's posts about it. So I'll be @ Otakon this yeah. I managed to get a table thanks to the help of and her friend Savi! Thanks so much you guys. So I'm working my hardest to get my newest art together as prints. I'm also working as hard as i can to get part one of my part of the Shado/Rellik cross over comic. It's one hell of a task that is for sure. I'll have about 8 new prints to offer and this year i'll be testing out some 4x6 mini prints as well.

I plan on cranking out a TON of new art. I'll also be offering up commissions and sketches at my table too.

Expect lots of craziness this year as well.

Batman Beyond and good guys and bad guys.

There was a story on how Batman was too old and that they needed a new batman. So they took some of his DNA and found a family who they altered the husbands DNA to that of Bruce Wayne's. So that Batman would have a "son". there were events that put into place to have Terry's Family murdered so that he would go through the same pain as Batman (not thinking, hey this could go the wrong way) but at the last second the killer "Barbra Gorden" had decided that her killing the family members to create a situation in which a Hero could be made to replace the missing batman in their world still wasn't worth it.

Years Later it turns out that Terry gets into a fight in front of Batman's place. Fate (aka writters) and the events that ensue make him the new Batman. It is only revealed that to Terry that all this happend when he grows into his mid 20's.

people at that point of the story could have it where Terry would crack thinking that his life was all planned out for him to be Batman... and he could easily loose all interest or hope in being the new BATS or he could even Snap, and think that everything he was and is up till now was nothing more then a show and become a bad guy.

But being trained by batman he went back to confront Bruce about it all. Bruce knew nothing about it, but had some ideas that this was the case.. because a few years back Bruce needed a a transplant and the only person who could help would be a 1 in a million shot or a blood relative. Terry has helped. So the original Batman, being Batman has a theroy already but kept it to himself not being sure how Terry would take it.

You see while Terry followed a lot of Bruce's advice, he also bucked against him. Terry hated when Bruce would Hack into his life without his permission, but terry needed to do that to keep tabs on people as well... only terry didn't do it as often as Bruce did because Terry chose to trust people with some of their own issues they were having and he wanted them to solve the issues on their own, instead of being like Old Man Bats and making everybody's problems and solutions his responsibility.

At that point in the story Terry sees that Old School Batman didn't want to have kids or anything pretty much because he didn't want anybody to go through the pain and being alone like how he was. He had a hard time Trusting anybody even Terry, so his romantic relationships could never really work out, and people who he dated had a hard time trusting him because he kept to himself, left people hanging, things like that. But to the public he was their hero. Only the people who watched his private life knew anything that was going on with him. Everybody else only saw Playboy bruce wayne or the Dark Knight.

Terry didn't want to be like the old man for sure because even the way he handled the villans was different then Bruce would have. Like when he went up against the joker. He noticed that Joker's mission was to make Batman laugh cause he was so serious. (i love the animated joker better then Movie Joker.... HATE movie joker.)

On a side note I loved what they did with Red Hood in "Batman Brave and the Bold" and how when he had the chance to become Joker... instead of cracking, he snapped back. It those moments like that where you can see how somebody can fight the programing of their life. Where they may not have a choice about being brought into a wold that they are forced to live in, but they have the ability to resist and fight against it, and make the changes and not repeat the mistakes of their partents, friends, or peers. it's almost like "if you don't want somebody to do something like that to you, then you shouldn't do it to them...even if you think it is the way it is the only option you have...don't fall into the same pattern of the things you hate."

So while some heroes fall into the "i'm going to be just as bad as them" other don't go that route or just go close enough to it that they are still on the other side of it.

Geez good guys and bad guys are complicated.

Oh yeah.. all this is coming to mind because i'm trying to nail down how complex a character can become over time even if he isn't from the start... and trying to build relationships in a cast can be had when you first start out.... dun dun dun. Also I am working on nailing down Shado's Ultimate bad guy character.

You know what's hard? Trying to be a Sneaker Designer Good enough to keep your current job and be able to push designs and ideas. Trying to be a a comic artist that pushes their style and trying to make that the main form of making a living. Then trying to do all of that while being a responsible adult.... you know paying bill, keeping your living space clean, be social, and most of all Maintain a loving relationship with your girlfriend.

Sometimes it seems like it'd be easier to have no talent and work a "normal" job with "normal" hobbies. Like reading a newspaper or books... and just being middle of the road or average. Or even just trying hard enough... bleh then I won't be who I am.

It's like being Spider-Man.... Not Batman or any other superhero.... or maybe even like Mr. Fantastic. Keeping a day job to keep on the lights Spider-man is a photographer(Mr. Fantastic is a scientist). Having their "hobby" being a super-Hero, then being Married or having a girlfriend. It's a lot. It's so hard to keep everything at 100% because one thing suffers or another thing does. It can't be helped. If you focus too much on the job, your relationship and talent gets hurt. If you focus on the Relationship too much your talent can go to crap, and if you focus on the talent, you can lose your job and the relationship. It's a struggle all artists who are in relationships and maintain a day job have to deal with... much like being in School, trying to have a job and then a girlfriend.

You really don't try to neglect one thing or the other. and keeping everything at a perfect balance makes you only a jack of all trades... which in those cases isn't that great but not bad either.. just in the middle. You won't be noted for being a great artist/student/worker/lover/fighter/athlete/band member. Sometimes I wonder how those people do it.

Heh, my eternal struggle.

OMG Tasty Dinners!

Okay... I love LOVE tasty food. I may not be able to pack away much food, which might be a good thing but i love trying all kinds of tasty foods.

So last night made some Super awesome Fried Chicken! I LOVE THAT STUFF. With white rice, it was almost like the stuff you can order from the local Chinese Take-Out place that isn't one the menu. Like in that old Fuggies Tape that was out back in the day and the skit of the guy saying "I want some white rice with chicken friend hard" yeah that kind of stuff, though this was much more juicy. mmmmmmmmmmmm

Nothing takes the edge off a day then having tasty food to warm up your belly. is also a Cookie Ninja!!!

I'm going to try and get her to post up some pics of the Tasty Awesome foods she makes or even give you all the lowdown on very simple things you guys can cook yourselves. One of the most important things an artist should remember is to eat. Let's face it most of us ignore eating when we are in the middle of a project, and that can make our skills suffer.... but we can sure as hell smell tasty food!

So make sure you guys eat okay?!

Wow! I hit Fifty Thousand page views now! Thank you everybody for coming to visit my page. I'm very grateful to all of you. ATM I'm working really hard on a project to have ready for Otakon. It's a corss-over comic with We are both busy brainstorming ideas. I'm working on some updated character sheets for Kim and some extra info for Shado that will be used for the comics. There will be two new Bad guys created for this storyline too... DUN DUN DUN!!!! Heck as we speak I've got some new ideas that popped into my demented brain... "bbbrrraaaiiinnnssss" LOL

Also I'm working on building a supercomputer for art and to back up a ton of the art I've done over the years. I just got a hold of a G5 powermac for 475 dollars with all the programs I'll need, 2 gigs of ram which I'll be upgrading to 8 as soon as I'm able to, a 17 inch flat screen monitor, and a 1.6ghz processor. I've bought two 2.0 ghz processors that I'm going to swap out the single processor for to give this beast more power and I've already added a Tetrabite sized hard drive. Which only took a few hours to Flash. I'm also trying to save up some money so i can get a Cintiq.

So look forward to me cranking out lots more art, and having a bunch of new stuff this year at Otakon. I'm also thinking of doing more budget 4x6 two dollar prints of my pics, because 8x10's for my stuff just don't seem to sell as well. Not to mention I'll be having a few comicbooks there this time for everybody to pick up.

This is a TV show that LOVE to watch. I like the show more then any TV show I've watched over the past few years. One of the main reasons I like it so much it because it FUN! You've got your CSI, Law and Order, SVU, Bones (which I used to like a lot), and blah blah blah.....

Something About NCIS speaks to me on a higher level. I love the characters first of all. Their Looks their personalities all of the above about them. They all are strong characters that have dealt with things in their past but don't let it hold them back. They learn from it and move forward. They argue and Bicker like a family but when it comes to getting the work done, they get it done. Some of their issues remind me of real people's issues.

They also manage to have fun at their jobs. Which is what people in serious lines of work do to make it not so stressful. I like the story lines too, trying to solve who the bad guys is rocks. plus how some storylines take place over a few days or even a week. I also like how they each have their addiction and something they are good at. Those skills are very clearly defined. Even down to their quirks, very simple and very human.

If you get the chance give it a good watch. at least two episodes. They have the right mix of Dramah, comedy, and sluthing.

Hey I wanted to let everybody here know I'm still alive. Just been super busy the last two weeks. Catching up on everything that I missed while working on Winter Bash. Been working on my apartment getting everything clean and getting the boxes of junk that I moved with me to MA thrown out. Trying to keep less junk in my life so when I come home I feel "high" from the place being clean. It is a great feeling from being stressed from work or traffic, to come home ans see that everything is in order.

So let me tell you guys what's on the horizon. I'm working on a Spectator entry for Winter Bash with Shado and Axen. I've also started in on more pages of Modern Day Shado's storyline. I've been writting a lot of notes about him and what needs to happen with him as a character and how the stories will develop. I'm going to try a bunch of self contained storylines at first and see how they manage to work out. Then try to build up the world from there.

I was also talking to my friend about Fist of the North Star and why I'm so drawn to the story of the character. She told me that the reason I liked it so much is that it was directly aimed at men. Kenshiro being an unstoppable hero that won't back down, and can do everything on his own is the Ideal male role model. She said She knew why she could not get into it because of that, but she knew a lot of boys liked it. Turns out that it is Ranked as the 8th best selling Jump comic of all time. Dunno why I went into that Tangent, but I really like the Manga. It's kind of like Jojo's Bizzar Adventure in a way. The artstyle isn't that great, but something with the story really draws me in. If you never ready the first two Time lines of JoJo they take place in the 1800's and then during WW2, before the US published versions of the story.

Congratulations on your victory Koeb you really deserved it! I know she must have worked really hard on her story because of how solid it was and she was even working up till the last min of the deadline to make her story more complete. There is a reason she won SDL's Red Ball.

It goes to show how a solid story and pleasing visual style over comes a flashy and aggressive ( also Stiff ) drawing style. So what's that mean for me? Well it means I need to get better. I'm sorry for all the people wanting to see Shado move on to the next round. My effort just wasn't good enough and I have to work very hard to improve on doing better pacing and not jamming so much text at the end of the story. It's just really hard to spread the text and the action out... I have a feeling if I did I'd have 25 pages instead of 17. My told me that my story was pretty stiff after reading it and seeing the pages I had drawn. I gotta listen to her more. But at that point it was already to late.

It's also hard writing a story that will draw people in when the main hero of the story doesn't bring some kind of emotional baggage with him in a story to make him more human. Hell they had to Give RYU and KEN in street fighter a story that tied them together along with Sagat and DAN to pull people into the stories more. It's why characters like Super-Man and Captain America have a hard time keeping readers. The Idea is strong, but the stories seem to lack because there is no connection. I always think of Shado as being the type of hero from the old days of TV/Radio/and Comics. A character that other people can look up to. That is the problem with Him right now in SDL. Shado didn't have a reason to fight.... or at least I didn't make a comic of that yet. So that is on my To Do List.

told me that Shado's story was weak before, because he was just known as a fighter and that was all. He had a cool fighting style but no substance... So that is something I intend to fix.... but to the people that like him how he is. Don't worry he won't change as far as who he is. We'll just get to see why he's the way he is. I can't promise that I won't have some pages that are word heavy.... Not till I learn to pace it out better.... but i just don't like comics that were no action for an entire 24 pages... I'll get better at fixing that mistake I promise.

Sorry if I sound a little bummed.... It's the human condition. When you invest so much time into something it's always a bit of a blow to the old ego to take an "L". I'll get over it. Trust me. Starting today I'm working on something big for Shado's storyline in SDL... Why you ask? Well because He's going to be linked to Modern Day Shado.... so that also means I'll be working on "One Man RIot" again as well. I know if I can crank out 17 pages of a comic in as many days, then I know I can do a better quality story and art in a more reasonable time then I did in the past.

Sorry if I sounded all EMO guys. Just wanted to let you know what's going on in the old Brain of mine.

Looks like I'll really have my work cut out for me. Her OC has a very complicated and painful past and now with her daughter kidnapped, she is out for some serious payback when she finds the person.... and with the way the events turned out of her 1st match, she now has some questions for Shadoboxxer. What will Shado do against this legendary female fighter? You'll have to Tune in to see. Our deadline for the pages will be on Feb 14th. I'll be keeping you guys posted with sketches and the like till that time. I think I'll have to work even harder, because for as many fans Seth has... Madoka has that many more. It also turns out she has been hoping for this match up since the start of this!!! So that means she already has a plan. I think I'm in one of the hardest brackets in the OC battle... but that's OKAY, because the fans will get lots of Epic and WIN from this next round.

All I can really say is "It's SHOWTIME!"

Winter Bash: Round One Finished

This was a crazy amount of work to finish. I put at least 5 hours a day into these pages. A few nights my hand was pretty sore. helped me out with tasty dinners and Editing my spelling. She LOLed a lot at some of the mistakes I made. The cool part about this contest was that I showed some people at work and told them about the whole Winter Bash thing, and they really got a kick out of it. I have to say that this whole thing is a lot of fun and I had been out of the game for a while. I'm working as hard as I can to make it to the top. Dunno if I'll make it past this first round, but I gave it my all. If I make it to the next round you can bet I'll try and 1up what I did with this first entry.

I learned a lot from my Endzone fight with and that was how much hard work and effort pays off. So that's what I intend to do from here on out.

Seven days to go. I have a lot of work to get done on this round. I am gonna be super busy working on Laying out the text and shading on my pages to get everything looking good. With the help of , who has scanned in most of the pages for me last night, I was able to go back and re-work for really bad looking pages. I've been getting IMs from people cheering me on with the pages too.

On a Social Note: RANT RANT RANT : Run away while you can.

I came across a person's gallery here on DA who had one of those motivational poster designs with a photo of one of his guns on it. it was titles "Campus Safety" and he mention that maybe if one student had a gun then there would have been one dead body instead of 33. Honestly to me that is bullshit. If there was a student with a gun, hey may have only saved his own ass, but would have never ran towards to gunmen to stop them. Did anybody stop the guy when he was reloading? Did anybody try to throw a chair, or stop him while he was targeting somebody else? No everybody ran for their lives. It's the human condition. We as humans in most cases run away from anything that threatens to take our lives.

How many people have seen a fight break out only to stand and watch because they were afraid to get hurt by the people fighting with their fists. A group of people could easily stop one person from assaulting another. When the threat level goes up, like somebody holding a bat or a knife, you'll be hard pressed to find somebody else will to step in. Even if they could pick up a chair, bottle, or surround the guy. Then when it comes to guns.... a line comes to mind from the Movie "Shoot em up" "Are you a tough guy with a gun, or are you a Pussy with a Gun?" Honestly most people fall in the latter. Because to risk your life for the safety of other, putting aside ones fear of losing their life in order to save the lives of a group of people is very rare. Now maybe the people who write articles about "if there were others with guns" would be the brave ones, and have the skill, courage, and determination to risk their necks for their fellow man, then things might be different as a whole if there were more of them around. Maybe if that guy was their and didn't give a damn about the Laws and would risk going to jail to carry a gun, in-order to use it to save the lives of other people from bad guys with guns if they so happened to be in the area, or be willing to go to that area to help out then things might change as well. Oh wait, we have some people like that. Police offices, Fire Fighters, Soldiers, but lets face it maybe half of them have that courage and determination to go up against the odds to help people that are being forced into a violent event.

Got tons of stuff done this weekend. In the parking lot of my apartment I did some Major/Minor work on my car.

-Changed Brake Rotors (Got nice new ones because I've been hearing bad things about the Factory ones)

-Changed Brake Pats (funny thing is they had at least a year on them still. after driving 128,000 miles they still have 1/3 in on them.)

-Rotated tires (I haven't done that in a while. Good thing I had everything in my trunk to do this)

-Oil Change (I haven't had to change my oil since I moved up here and that included a trip down to PA.)

I still need to clean my Air Filter and put that in. It will help save even more gas. Nothing like getting your hands greasy from time to time. I forgot how much 2 hours of auto repair can take out of a person. I went back up to my apartment afterwards and DAMN was i sore. A hot bath helped along with some tasty rice from the GF. mmmmmmm

I had to use engine degreaser on my hands to get the caked in brake dust off.

So peep this. turns out this girl I knew as a kid, had classes with and my father wanted me to be friend's with is actually my Sister! Funny how that works huh? She's full Rican, but from what I remember how she looked, she was like me but with more of the "standard" Rican looks. My younger Brother got my father to admit it. She's my age too. I haven't talked to her in maybe 13 some years. So it will be interesting to get back in contact with her. My little brother is gonna handle that since it would be easier because of her living in PA we believe.

So there are times when I know I'm right, I KNOW I'M RIGHT. The thing is trying to get other people to see that. Well after 5 months of dealing with the GSP Management Company, I was able to Nail them to the wall. So here is a quick run down of the story.

-Sold trailer in July (rented land but owned trailer)
-new owners are new responsible for rent and trailer
-moved to boston not thinking about trailer
-tried to get new apartment found blotch on my credit from landlord
-called land lord pulled teeth to get blotch removed because it was their fault not mine.
-got the new apartment and landlords for the trailer park said they owed me 1000 dollars but also the people i sold the trailer to were not supposed to have been sold the trailer because the landlords reserved the rights to approve anybody buying the trailer.
-they said they would take care of it all and send me my money.
-they lied
-got an eviction notice in the mail from them.
-week later a second eviction notice and they sited PA Act no. 261
-I found act online and found that the "rules" i was breaking were being bent and they have been lying to me and other owners for years on what you can and cannot do with a trailer.
-found they were breaking the law by trying to deny me the ability to sell my property which is against state law.
-they also violated the state law by not returning me my money from security deposit or putting it into an interest baring account and telling me about it.
-I filled a complaint with the attorney general's office
-got back from thanks giving vacation and found that Att. Gen. Office assigned me a case number and were investigating.
-there was a letter from the local district justice saying I was being taken to court so GSP could gain ownership for the trailer and other damages. (did not own trailer at this point)
-Next day I called District Justice office and talked to a clerk there who was very helpful and asked me to fax the info over to her and handed it to the judge after explaing the situation to him as well.
-last night I got a letter in the mail that stated I had won the case without being present. Judges ruling was "GSP should file against the people living in the trailer and who own it."

now all I need to do is let the attorney general's office take care of the money they owe me. the nightmare of dealing with them is over. took me long enough. Those bastards as GSP are crooked and I hope the they are delt with like they should be. They are slum lords and bully people into staying on their land and think that everybody is fearful and ignorant of the laws. The very law they sited is and will be their down fall. Reminds me of those old stories you heard of people abusing what the bible said and until it's translation nobody was aware about what it really said.

The Internet saved my ass along with the awesome clerk and judge.

funny thing is the same judge ruled against me almost 5 years ago in a case where i didn't have enough evidence to prove my innocence. This time it was pretty straight forward.

What Sneakers Do You Like?

Fun Tips from the DA FAQ! + Props!

So I went through some of DA's FAQs on Art Theft and what not to find some interesting facts. Now granted I've found a few things that also contradict each rule as well... but for the time being I'm not going to post anything that contradicts. I'll just say that in some cases DA lets younger artists of a lower skill level copy and trace images of their favorite cartoons and actors so they can improve their skills. We all gotta start some where. They also would like people to be able to grow as artists as well. I've found many many examples of all of these things. There are a ton of other forums out there that judge artwork very harshly weather your a noob or not. Sometimes they can get pretty nasty, but they really want you to work hard and be a better artist as well. I made the mistake in the past posting on a super elite site in the past called [link] The skills of those artist on that site is way over the top. So to any artist out there reading this who believes their work to be Top Notch and their photorealism that good should post on those sites. No to mention [link] or [link] You might get blasted and get judged harshly, but they also have group activites like drawing jams and group crits. They even have Theme Threads too. Not to mention lots of Pros hit those sites as well as some scouts. So if anybody is willing to put themselves out there make sure to post on those sites. I know I've posted a lot on them in the past and learned a lot.

I want to give some shout outs to some artists that work hard on their art and love drawing. I can see them doing this either out of a hobby or love of drawing.

This was a sweet high contrast entry. It really gets the feel of both Axen and Shado. I think this caught the feel of what these two would be like for their first time meeting. The Green Lighting just adds so much to this pic from what I saw of the WIP. Looking at this pic makes me think it should have a subtitle in it like it is a wide screen shot of the Big Fight in a movie.

In Second Place we have

She hit the target with not being afraid of drawing Shado in her classic style. Her skills with Watercolor and Inks is something to behold. The skill and time taken to do something like this is rare to see now a days. These two look like they are about to get into all sorts of trouble. "Hey Shado, wanna go whip some ass?" Shado Replies "I thought you'd never ask!" this pic just makes me LOL.

And now the Final Place...

In First Place

Mishin is a master at being able to draw any character in her style and making them look like they've always looked that way. She managed to make a Solid image out of two of her Original OC's and not make him look out of place in the least. The whole Idea of him wanting to get something to eat and a girl misleading him into thinking one thing and the outcome is not what he expected is something Shado has to deal with with his other friends. The colors are very vibrant and I'm in love with the action in this pic as well. Gore is a very kick ass OC and I hope Mishin is able to draw her more.

Congratulations to the top 3! Grat job you guys deserve this.

Okay so I'm going to be hitting Otakon again this year. Not sure if it's going to be my last year or not, but I intend on doing some big things with this.

We'll all be sitting together in a two table set up. I'm honored to be sitting with these amazing powerhouse artist. So the end of this chapter of my life has started. It's like getting to the world map on FF7 for the first time. I got the job in Boston, Mass. So as of today I put in my two weeks notice and will be getting my stuff together to move up that way and work for New Balance. It sounds sunny saying that. I've asked to start working on the 25th.

It's going to be crazy leaving here. I've been working at my current job for over 5 years. I'm going to miss everybody I work with. During those 5 years other people moved on with their lives and got jobs all over the US. So it looks like it's my turn. Guess we'll see what happens with all of this ya know?

One thing is for sure this is going to be a huge step, but an amazing one as well. This is why I haven't uploaded the latest comic pages either. I've been so busy working on all of this stuff to get to the next level in my life. When I get up there I'll be sure to upload pics of my new digs. They are going to help me look for a place too. Odds are I'll have a place lined up before I start, at least that is the plan So during this time I'm still going to do my best to crank out comic art and finish my SDL duel. It might not be the best quality, but i'm going to put my hear into the few pages i can crank out by the deadline.

So with everything going on I'm going to do what I can to attend Otakon still. This might be the last time I get to be a part of the convention where I met a lot of cool people. I'm going to look into doing Anime Boston as well. So maybe some people can meet me there too. dun dun dun!

Mortal Kombat vs DC

So I've been looking at this and it seems really interesting. It might Revive Mortal Kombat back to what it used to be.... or not. It's not the same game without the Fatalities either.. but if they can work on the fighting engine more and make it a more stable fighter game again it might just work. However I think they made a mistake with the comic company they chose to go with. I honestly think they should have hit up Image Comics. I mean think about it. Image usually has Darker characters to work with or heck even Top Cow would have worked in their favor. Let's not forget Dark Horse!

Characters that would rock in the Mortal Kombat world:

1.Hell Boy: i mean come on he'd be awesome against Scorpion

2.Savage Dragon: This bad ass heavy hitter would work great as well. He'd fit in there like a charm.

3.Spawn: Another person from the Hell Realm to fight against the Evil in outworld

4. Angela: She's mean as hell and would work well too.

5. Lady Death.... need i say any more?

6. Witch Blade!!!!!

7. Darkness!!!

8. THE MASK! If you ever read any of the comics, he didn't go nice on anybody.

9. Hard Boiled.

10. Rusty The Boy Robot.

11. The Big Guy

What do you guys think with that list? can you think of any other characters that would fit in that Match up against Mortal Kombat characters?

Comic Update and Selling a Trailer

Also in other new... more in my personal life. for about 6 years I've lived in a Trailer on the side of a mountain. I drove to work about 500 miles a week and not to mention 200-400 miles on the weekend to see family and all that fun stuff. It was simple to do that because I have a good paying job. Well once gas prices started getting higher I pretty much had to move since I was dropping almost an entire weeks pay on gas for the month and had to skip paying other utilities, school loans, and other things in the process. I needed to move out. So i found a place and am living with a co-worker. I only have to fill my tank once a week and my bills are included with the rent.... and for the past year I've been paying the Rent on the trailer as well. that ended up being almost 2 month's pay. but the funny part about all of that it was still cheeper then driving from there to work every day. Even paying 4 dollars a gallon it is cheeper for me living 35 miles away. My Saturn Ion rocks. Anyways... On Sunday I was working on doing the final push to get all my stuff Thrown out/Donated/or packed and out of the Trailer. My brother and I spent 8 hours there on Sunday.

Then because of word or mouth I got a phone call about a family needed a place to stay because they were about to be kicked out of the motel they were staying in. Two Kids 14 and 5, the mother, and the husband. Their sister in-law called me telling me they had the money up front and they went to the office to fill out the aplication for it. They needed me there so I could do the notary work as well. Not to mention I had an entire truck full of stuff there and at least 12 trash bags of junk to throw out.

So at 10:30 I called off work Letting my boss know what the deal was. I didn't want to call off for this and was going to think of some BS excuse for not coming in while we were slammed doing stuff for Fila London. The good thing was I took some work home with me because I had a complicated project ahead of me making a High top into a low cut design. I stayed up till 1:30 am getting everything done on the Sneaker. I emailed my boss and sent him the edit. before I did all of that I called up my Bro and Sarah to help me get my stuff together and that I'd pay them 100 each. My bro needed money to get his transmission fixed, he didn't want the money but i hooked him up anyways.

So then we all got together got something to eat that morning after taking my mom to work so i could use my step father's pick up and get him to use my mom's car. The next thing was going to the Trailer and finishing eveything else off. That took till almost 2pm from 11am after doing all the running around and driving to my place and unloading the truck and making it back to meet up with the buyers. So i needed a nap because of staying up late working...

I slept in the grass till they got there... it was a nice nap. I met up with them and let them know I had already paid the rent. So they needed to give me the money for the rent too. Well they gave me the rent money. I was going to let them just pay me that and I take care of doing the transfer into their name, but they gave me the rest of the money too. They also told me that it was their children's SSI money. ugh..... i was glad at least they would own the trailer and have a roof over their heads. I ended up finding out the father is an Ex-con and was still on prob. Also they Had a small kitten and a Pig! I think the Pig was happy. They were staying at the Motel in one room all of them. With only a van load of stuff and clothing. Al together I sold the place for 600 dollars.

The good thing is that they had family in the trailer park too. So that worked out for them. I'm glad it did. I know growing up i was in similar situations as them and at one point my 2 brother mom and dad, were living in a burnt out hours that he got by trading two beat down cars he owned and my mom working at k-mart making 3.50 an hour had saved 500 dollars so we could get a place. we lived in one room for a month. There was no bathroom or running water and broken glass all over the place....

5 page barrier

So I managed to break my 5 page barrier for my comic. I have always had a hard time having the mental focus to get past that. Looks like today I finally made it. so I'm up to page nine now and managed start penciling that today. I'm so thrilled to be past that stage for once. So now it's a matter of adding the text to the older pages and getting everything else ready for them. so once i get to page 10 I guess you could say I'll be done with the Prelude stage

So one of the most important things for you to do after having an interview is to follow up. One of the best way is thanking them for taking the time to look at your work. Even if they weren't too thrilled with your work. It shows strong character that is for sure. So I sent a Thank You E-mail to some of the people I interviewed with. I managed to get one back. So it seems I'm in the top running and they want a second interview. This is when I need to break out the second suit I bought. I need to get a nice tie for that suit as well. I'll know more next week on what's going on but it sounds good. I know they are interviewing 10 other people. So we'll have to see how that all works out. I need to take some vacation days that's for sure

Hey I wanted to thank everybody last week for thanking me. I had a pretty big day on Friday and it was really crazy. I had to leave Thursday Night to get to the location I needed to. I rocked my Suit as shown earlier too the following morning after having some Pancakes and Coffee. It's funny how Coffee Calms me down. So I'm going to be a little vague on details for the moment, but I presented in front of a group of 6 people showing off my art, and they even called in a 7th person afterwards to look at it some more. The people rocked too. So afterwards they said they be in contact with me in a week good or bad, but they also need to check my refs too. So that's the basics. This could be something that changes my life bigtime.

SDL Couples Contest + Top Model

So I was reading that was doing a couples contest. I was thinking that it might be pretty interesting to see Shado on a date or something with some of the SDL girls. Two Givens are going to be Shado X Kim X Boomer. But i was wondering what other kinds would be cool as well. There are quite a few catagories. Also If anybody is interested in using SDL shado as their date for the contest please be my guest. I think this will be something fun that is for sure

Also is doing a Top Model for the contest! and I'm thinking of entering Shado into that one as well. Since he's got an even better build then Modern Day Shado because of him working on a boat as a young kid. muhuhahah.
