Painting critique is Thursday and the painting isn't even done. Concentration has been on presentation for Women Studies that members of my group bailed on me for; all the work has been done by me. Must inform professor before she hands out the credit to those who don't deserve it. Not sure how I did on the Art History exam. I'll find out tomorrow. Getting a little nervous. Only a year left until graduation. The anxiety isn't from graduating, it's from what's going to happen afterward. I don't know what's going to happen except that the world I grew up in will end and a new one will begin. Don't like it.

For instance, it's 2009. I'm halfway through my fourth year in college and I still have alot more issues to sort out. With the economy the way it is, I don't know how long I can keep going there with the increasing costs of tuition, books, food, and of course, supplies for my art classes. My dad pays for everything and he's running out of work, and more than once I've considered leaving school to work. However if I did that, that would mean the last four years I've committed to a higher education would be a waste of time and money, and there's absolutely no way I'm doing that to my dad. That would be the day where he would consider me as a failure. More than likely it would also lead him to disown me.

Last year was practically a waste for I was distracted by many things and couldn't keep my focus in check and it cost me dearly; poor grades, decreased GPA and overall all interest in the world went out the window. Insomnia, depression, an overwhelming amount of stress and despair were the things keeping me down. I just didn't care about anything or anybody, it felt like my very life essence was sucked out of me and I was only a dry husk left behind.

Presently, I am no longer a husk, shadow, or a ghost of what I used to be. I got over my depression and insomnia, and I am working for a full recovery. The biggest issue I have is where my art is going; what I've been doing is very different from what has been posted on this page for years and in time, or very soon, my art will be more controversial, because that's what I want to do. I want to shock and provoke people all the while having them in awe. I can't do that making fanart and other stuff that won't sell. I'm finished experimenting with things. It's time for the real thing.

On the personal side, I'm constantly dealing with small obstacles, mainly dealing with my family's expectations and my own; some friends have said that I shouldn't be too hard on myself so much. I'm getting back in touch with friends I've lost, I'm not affected by them moving away since every friend I've had has moved away and barely keep in touch. The other thing that has been on my mind is whether or not I'll commit myself to a relationship, another thing brought up by friends and for the record, yes it would be nice for I've never been in one, however I am too busy with my current occupation as a full time college student. *sigh*

These are just the first few steps of sorting things out and getting my life back on track.

I'm so happy it's over; I had it rough this time around with things blowing up in the ceramics lab (my stuff got it the worst), I was running late all the time, didn't get much slack from my Japanese teacher , and probably the most stressful thing I had to deal with for the last month or so was my dad having skin cancer on his jaw. He's fine now, he went in for surgery yesterday and the doctors got the cancer out; he had to go back in today to check the stitches. I hate seeing my dad in that kind of state; it always has me on edge.

But on the brighter side of things, two weeks from this Sunday I'm leaving with my best friend and we're going to Germany for the summer!! It's only taken four years to convince my parents to let me go. What really convinced them? The trip to Tuscany and the Alps, and Croatia. Since most of my family is Italian, they are REALLY excited about me going to Tuscany because my family's Elders were from Sicily and I'm the first person in my family to return to Italy in many decades; maybe almost a century.

For the next two weeks, there will be nothing but preparing for this lengthy trip and hopefully there will be a party before I go. That will be awesome. Expect alot of pictures upon my return, I know I haven't submitted any drawings in many months but that doesn't mean I haven't been drawing!

Now I'm off to see Prince Caspian.

The plan was to leave early Saturday morning so we could get there early enough to enjoy ourselves and see what goods we could get to before anyone else; or at least just look until we were sure about getting the desired goods. Well, because of the amount of time it took for both my sister and I to get into our cosplay gear (and to get our third cosplayer out of bed), we didn't leave until almost 10:30; which in a way worked out just fine since there wasn't a line when we got there and there was an empty parking space in the main parking lot, so we didn't have to walk ten miles to get to the convention building. Once we got our passes and started walking around, I met up with a friend of mine who was cosplaying Tuxedo Mask and I swear, he was a walking vision when I saw him! For a split second, I found myself falling in love with him. But it was only for a split second.

To say the least, he was surprised to see our third cosplayer dressed as Super Sailor Moon and she's only five years old! She was so cute, he fell to his knees and went completely numb and speechless! So when the worshiping part was over, we finally decided to take pictures of them and my sister was included because she cosplayed Super Sailor Mini Moon; so the "family" was complete and not too long after we started talking pictures for ourselves, a whole new croud of people saw the overwhelming cuteness and started taking pictures as well. Soon, there was an entire Paparazzi thing going on and little Sailor Moon started to get scared; she took shelter by wrapping herself in my cloak which was cuter. Yeah, hide behind Alucard and you'll be safer!

It was non-stop after that: I walked around a little bit then I had to stop because people wanted photos of my costume. It's not everyday when you get to see someone cosplaying Alucard from Castlevania when everyone else was either cosplaying Bleach or freaking Naruto!! Jeez there were so many of them, I thought I was going to faint! Or kill...... Anywho, before the day was done, little Sailor Moon got tired and went home with her brother (who also accompanied us) and I was thankful for that because that meant the babysitting was over and I was free to wander! Only once did I encounter a random hug from behind and also a Naruto guy who asked me for some money. Stupid teens, if you go to a con, plan on bringing your life savings cuz I have none of mine to spare!

When the con was over on Saturday, I left with about two wall scrolls, one being the main cover art for the Hellsing OVA 2 with Integra on it; and the second one being the ultimate of wall scrolls.....Gankutsuou!! I was hesitant about buying that one because I wasn't even sure if it was for sale but after a little convincing from my friend, I got it without a problem!

We went back on Monday, this time we didn't cosplay for we were still tired from Saturday, and we didn't spend as much time there as we did on Saturday since the con would be closing alot sooner. So we had plenty of time to walk around in endless circles, making ourselves dizzy from seeing the same booths over and over again; and some of the booths had a discount going and it was mainly the manga booths. The manga was really cheap, so cheap that it was free! What I really wanted from the con was the figure of Sora in his Final Form outfit but sadly all the booths that had that figure wanted $50 for it!! Already I have made the clock she carries around in the manga (and soon to be anime) and I'm currently working on her elongated musket rifle. It's made out of solid wood and it's about 6 1/2 feet in height. I haven't figured out a way on how to install the barrel yet, but there is still much work to be done on the wood part itself.

I don't have to worry about getting the suit because I found the right one at Dillard's and it's not going anywhere any time soon. It's the only double-breasted suit in the entire store; all the rest are those button down the middle types. I'm not worried about the wig either, but my concern is the curl: I want to make the curl out of some kind of material so that it will look like an actual part of the wig. I've thought about using those pipe cleaners you can find at Michael's or even some kind of poster board but as of yet, I haven't experimented with those materials.

I've included a picture of myself holding the rifle upright so you can see. My sister took the picture, so that's why it looks a little out of focus. [link]

If and when this is completed, it will truly be a great honor cosplaying this character. She's so great. I can't wait to see her in the new OVA!

I hung up my six prints on the wall like everybody else, waited for a few minutes and then the critque began. My two colleagues, who I get along with very well, were first to give a little explanation. When it was my turn to find out who voted for me, all went to hell. Sure, three people voted for one of my prints and one of my two said colleagues spoke about it in a very neat way which I appreciated. When it came time for the others to speak, no words were spoken. No one said anything. It was even worse because someone voted for another one of my prints and even then, whoever voted for it, didn't talk about it like he/she was supposed to. Even my teacher started saying things like, "If no one is going to talk, then I guess I'll just grade them and you guys can leave." On a side note, we were only 15 minutes into the class time with about two more hours to go when she said that. So she decided to give me her opinion about my work since no one else would and when everything was said and done, the class moved onto the next student. People started talking again.

Like my work was never there.

Why is it that just because my work doesn't include XXX rated material, that I cannot be appreciated as an artist? No matter what I do in any medium, I am always underestimated. I see things differently and for some reason, they can't understand why or even accept it. What I don't understand is why they have to be like that.

Of course two of them came from Volleyball and Fencing but to get an A in Ceramics was a big surprise! I'm still trying to get my projects from the Ceramics Lab but I guess they closed early for the summer. I'll get them someday and I'll post the pictures so I can show you what I did! I was off for about four days last week until I had to start summer school earlier this week; I'll be in school all summer. But that won't get me down because I'm going to fill up my pool and have many BBQ's!!! Yay for the big puddle in my backyard! And tomorrow's going to be cool because after I get home, I'm going to pick up my sister from school and take her to see Spiderman 3! Mind you, I will be driving with no parents in the truck although my sister is more than a distraction. I pretty much don't drive at all and it's getting to the point where the parents have had enough of carting me around using up their gas mileage on their cars/trucks. So yeah, it's my turn to step up to the plate now and I gotta get used to picking up my sister from school. Grr. *Sigh* Can't wait for Shrek 3.......

The bad news is, is that I found out this morning that baby Joey was sent back to the hospital because something was causing him to turn a yellow-ish color. My brother and sister-in-law had to wait in the hospital for five hours before anyone saw them. When a nurse finally came around, not only did Joey get worse, but she looked at the baby and said "Oh my God, this kid needs to get to the ER." Which is what my brother tried telling the staff but they didn't listen. So Joey is in the ICU with tubes and needles stuck in him and it is not a pleasant sight; I can't imagine why Joey deserves this and actually, he doesn't deserve it at all. How bad does a four-day old baby with a supposed liver problem have to look in order to get medical attention!?

The first flaw was having to carry 20 credits and having to attend school 5 days a week. I have already dropped one class and if I hadn't, I would be in a more complicated situation. Originally my classes on Mondays and Wednesdays would start with Ceramics at 8:30am and wouldn't end until 11am or so, then following the only art class I have there was French, Volleyball and Intro to Computer Science. Note that these classes were back to back and each a little over an hour. Those days would usually end around 4pm; busy days.
On the Tuesday and Thursday schedule, I have World Lit at 8:30, then a retarded math class, and then the best class on that day, Japanese. Fridays are the same with me only having to do fencing.

Second flaw: I was taking two Foreign Language classes but for a reason. The reason is that I failed Japanese last semester because of the lack of proper teaching, so in case I had the same teacher as I did last semester, I would drop Japanese and would continue with the French. There was a very different outcome. My new Japanese teacher is one of the best there is and she is just awesome; I enjoy the class. My French teacher is from France, let alone Paris, and she is not so great. Plus, it's a small classroom, there's about 20 or so people in there, the tables are arranged so that they form one big square, and where I am, my back is facing her and I have to keep myself in an uncomfortable position to just turn and see what she's talking about. I already have enough back problems! So that's the class I dropped and that provides me with an hour or so break to be able to eat lunch for once.

The math class is retarded and what's also retarded is that in order for me to take this class I have to take it through CCSN; apparently UNLV doesn't offer the class anymore because of accreditation; I say, "What accreditation?" This school is somewhat lacking but anyway back on the subject. What we're doing in math is the same stuff I have learned from High School and from lest year's summer term. It's the same damn stuff and I am so tired of it! What's worse is that the book I bought for the class is not the right one. Since it's a CCSN class, it's has to be a CCSN book. Both books have the same math problems, the same steps, same everything, but might as well listen to the assholes while I'm here. So that's one book to return that cost me exactly $124.75 and I failed to mention that I spent a total amount of $208.45 for the set of books and CD's for French class that the teacher said she only wanted us to use one book. WTF!?

So tomorrow, I will be taking back a shitload of useless books and getting a full refund. True, both the French and Math books were in plastic and were opened, BUT, I can return them as long as I have 1) the receipt and 2) the plastic wrapping they came in because of the ISBN numbers that are on them.

What's bad about tomorrow is that my friend Chris won't be there this semester for fencing. He paid for his classes this time and fencing would just keep the price tag way too high. He said that he would be here for fencing next semester but I don't know if that's in the summer or fall. Most likely it will be in the fall. Hopefully. But now that means I won't be able to see him as often; I'll be lucky if I see him once a week!

This will teach me to never take classes that require books that are plastic wrapped when you get them. Or at least wait until school starts to find out which books you need and will actually use.

I just started summer school this week so I can make up the credits I lost last fall semester. It's math, go figure, and I hate math. It's not my strong point and finally I have a genius of a math teacher; so I am starting to like the subject. I have that five days a week and then on Tuesdays and Thursdays after math, I have fencing! Swordplay! Tuesday we did nothing but foot-work and that was lots of fun! My teacher is a certified sword master! And tomorrow we shall be working with swords!

Christmas was awesome and I recieved some cool gifts, many I wouldn't have gotten on my own and I am forever greatful!!! Such as the Phial of Galadriel...shinny! I was so happy when my grandpa told me he is going to give me two of his WW2 books and he said that he gave my dad old German medals he was given by the German POW's when he was in the war. He gave the guests a nice little lecture on his experience. So hilarious but some parts were so wrong, I couldn't believe I was hearing it from my grandpa, of all people!! With the Christmas money he gave me I was able to purchase the Celtic Woman cd and the soundtrack for "Star Wars Episode 2", so now I am okay on music!

I finished reading the novelization to "Underworld Evolution" and oh my gods it was frickin sweet!!!! Now I really can't for the movie's release! Let's say Selene kicks ass and Marcus as a hybrid with wings...holy chicken!!! Must...see...but..two weeks..to go..I..must wait. No!! Perhaps it's not a big wait like Kingdom Hearts 2; it won't be released until March when it was supposed to be out by last Christmas!!! What has the world come to with trying my patience!? I am somebody who has not read all the books, including this one, and I could tell that they have left out alot of things in this one. And it was almost three hours! So I think it was long enough! This week will be interesting and I will both praise and curse it! For tomorrow I must deliver a speech and take a history exam! Worst part is....is that I forgot about the test. Then Tuesday won't be bad because I will only have art! This week is conference week for English and classes are cancelled for it so on Thursday after art I have to go to the conference which will only take maybe thirty minutes of my precious time. Mind you that art class ends at 11:15 and my conference is at 2:10, so I have a few hours to kick back and relax. And on Friday I have no classes since the rumors of this weekend being Nevada Day. You know what's so exciting about Friday? I leave with my dad and good friend to go to Los Angeles and we're seeing the "King Tut" exhibit! I am so excited about it!!!

Downside of the exhibit is that King Tutankhamun's mummy will not be there. He's a royal and it is by Egyptian law that his body cannot be taken out of the country. Other than the fact that his body is in a few pieces due to the improper handling when the British found his tomb. Such disrespect to a noble king!! Argh!!!

Hehe, so with all that in order. I am pleased to say that more drawings are coming soon and they are all drawings of real people! And judging from the comments of my friends and onlookers at college, I have reason to believe that they are good.

And I am still on the hunt for Danish movies! I can't find any! It's all because of the hot actor who plays Tristran in "King Arthur"!! Dang, I am obsessed!!

I finally finished Galahad this week and he was a toughy too. Couldn't get those curls right. And I haven't added any art lately because my sister is always using my laptop that's connected to the scanner. Constantly she's in there using it. She's so mean! And that has my "King Arthur" fanfic saved on it! Anyways, I had a good time in San Francisco! The first few days I spent in Carmel at a vacation home. It belonged to one of my dad's clients who has to be beyond a millionaire in order to have this house. I have some pictures of it and I'll post them soon. Also the first day when we got there was the only time I saw daylight. The sunset was absolutely gorgeous and I took pictures of it until it finally set behind the ocean. After that, I didn't see the sun for three days. It drove me nuts. Fog will do that to you.

I went to Solvang just as my dad promised and we spent the day there. I was so tempted to sneek some Carlsberg (the Danish beer) but I knew it was hopeless. I don't drink anyway. After leaving Carmel we went to San Jose and I visited the Egyptian museum which I love to death. I was amazed at the remodeling they did. When I went there last year they were in the middle of reconstructing some parts of it. It was awesome.

It was about perhaps towards the end of the week when I finally got to San Francisco. I went to Chinatown and Alcatraz. Too cool. So I came back exhausted and my cat attacked me for leaving her for a week.

Now I'm in college full-time and thats even more exhuasting! I'm getting more homework than I can handle! As far as drawings go, I finished Dagonet and now I'm working on Galahad!! I will post the knights once I get all the Hellsing stuff up and taken care of. Also when I have more time!

Thanks to the new techniques I learned in the class I am able to draw realism better. I'm currently working on the Knights from King Arthur and I'm on my third one so far now. I've drawn Arthur and Lancelot and Dagonet is the one I'm drawing right now. He's a little difficult. I also want to give a try at Johnny Depp as Willy Wonka. He was just great.

Last Sunday was pretty good because I went to the gun show we had here and I met up with my friend that I haven't seen in 18 months!! It was good seeing him again. Too bad I didn't buy a sword though. There was this one vendor who tried selling katanas at $985!!! They looked authentic but they were not!! I will go to Japan and then get an authentic one there. For whatever some of yen.

Another consumer of my time is the fanfiction I'm writing! I've been writing it since April! I have others that are ready to post and I have an account on fanfiction.net, but I don't know how to post the stories up. A friend of mine was going to show me but my computer was being so obnoxious! It didn't work for me! So I have about three stories saved up on my computer just waiting to be read by other people!!

Wasn't so cool on Thursday morning of last week before I had to continue my lessons. I had to have my shots. Talk about last minute, my new shot records had to be in the health department at UNLV by the first of this month! And it was Wednesday evening when I found out! So I go down to the doctors thinking I'm only going to have one. Boy was I wrong? I wound up getting three! And this old lady had some calcium in her bones in order to restrain me single handedly! And finally the pain from them has disappeared.

As for my art progress, I have finished the Amidala portrait. Problem is, the sketchbook is enormous! Gigantic! I believe the only way I can post it is by taking a close-up picture of it and scan the photo and then post it up here. I'm getting into drawing my favorite Marvel characters again. And since Fantastic 4 is coming out on Friday, it makes me want to get into drawing the characters from it. Never have before. Almost done with new picture of Storm and I found my long-lost pictures of Storm and Phoenix I did a long time ago. Let's say way back in 2001. (At least for Storm) And I'm getting back into coloring them this time. It appears that the characters look better when they are in color.

Yesterday I finally graduated from High School and got my long anticipated Diploma. I will admit I've never been so happy in my life because I finally pleased my parents at something. And not just my parents, but my whole family scattered throughout the country is proud of me. Now that I'm graduated I can finally focus on driving. I've never been a fan of driving cuz I've seen some major car accidents and they sure did scare me.

This weekend I will finally be able to go look at some scanners so my artwork will be posted. Plus I have to have one now since my college art class requires me to have one at home. So I'll have to go scanner shopping this weekend.

A big drawing project I'm working on is a dedication to Padme Amidala. And I think I'm crazy. Big paper with four different shots of her as Queen Amidala. What I discovered that's interesting, her official last name was "Naberrie". I'm thinking the name "Amidala" is her political name for Queen and Senator. I'm not sure if that's right but that's my theory I've got going.

I want to see Batman Begins so bad right now. Batman will always be my favorite superhero. Why? Because he has no special powers of any kind and he fights the bad guys for a reason too. To avenge his parents' deaths. That had to be traumatizing to a ten year old kid. Or however old he was.

Thursday is my favorite day now since there are four straight hours of Teen Titans. I love this cartoon and I wish there were dvd's out.

I love all the work she does. Anyways I have drawn two people already and they are actors of course. I have drawn Ioan Gruffudd as Lancelot and Jennifer Garner as Elektra. I am just finishing a picture of Mads Mikkelsen and having a hard time with it. The picture I printed out is a little fuzzy. The most trouble I have with is full frontal views of the face and I have to get everything in order and not sloppy. The eyes are sometimes tricky which is why I do it last.

And it really sucks not having your sketchbooks around when you need them. My friend is scanning my pictures for me and it is taking a while since she is really busy with school and other things. Thankies! It might take her awhile since there is seven months of drawings to be scanned and it keeps piling up. Hehe, seems like you can't stop this natural talent.

Also today I had to stay home since I caught the flu bug and it nestled right inside of my throat. I had a 103 degree fever and today I still feel terrible.

Last Friday I took my friend to the movies to see Sin City, and that is the best comic-based movie I've seen this year!! Of course my loyalties still lie with the Batman, Hellboy, Daredevil and Elektra comic-movies, but they can't beat this!

One of the previews I saw was the new trailer for Episode 3, and...oh...god!! It's beautiful! Can't...wait!! I woke up at 6 the next morning and I meditated for an hour. Then I drew the worst Rip picture in history, that's what I get for drawing first thing in the morning.

Currently, I am writing some fanfictions, and that I almost never do. I'll have the idea in my head, but I won't be able to write it into a story. The fanfiction I'm working on, is a "Hellsing" based story on Rip Van Winkle and Dok. No fluffiness, I hate that. I just want to create a friendship between the two characters. I recommend the Hellsing manga and anime to those who have not heard of it, it's really cool. Though the anime is very different from the manga, the music and sound effects are worth it. And so are the voices.

Ah, something that is now enlightening my evening, I just put in the soundtrack for The Return of the King and it's been a long time since Ive listened to it. Makes me sad as well knowing that it is over and no more waiting for December to arrive. NOOOOOO!!!!!!
At least I can watch it over and over again. I'm fine with that.

Recently, I have been having some problems with my computer. I try to comment somebody and it will not go through. Damn technology!! Die!! If you haven't noticed, Im not a fan of technology. I hate cell phones especially. Noisy expensive metal things that cause accidents and problems. Its my death to own one anyways. Parents and friends alike want me to have one. But I'll have it turned off 23 1/2 hours a day for them. ^_^

Now that everthing is out of my way, I'll be able to focus on driving school. Haven't signed up yet, but Iam looking forward to it. Naturally, Im terrified. I must conquer my fears. Plus, I want to help my friend out by taking some our friends home and not just her, having to pack like seven people into a vehicle that fits like...five!!

Oh my god, the song titled "The Steward of Gondor" is playing and thats the depressing music when Faramir is sent out on that suicide mission and dear Pippin sings. *Tear
