Some of these lanterns are lit. Some are unlit. But when there is light in the world around us these lanterns are indistinguishable. Invisible.<br /><br />It is only when we are thrown into darkness that most of us realize how all-important these lanterns are&#151;or that they even exist. And it is when we are surrounded by the most terrifying, empty blackness and bleakness that these lanterns shine the brightest.         <media:text type="html"><![CDATA[ As an artist, one of the things that has always surprised me is how many people are genuinely interested in the nuts and bolts of how I work.  From daily scheduling to moments of grand inspiration, people ask me about anything and everything related to the production of art, but most of the time I feel my answers are pretty unsatisfactory.<br /><br />I think my difficulty in explaining my general artistic process is because I'm still in the process of discovering it myself.  It's something that's constantly evolving, shifting, changing, sometimes failing, and generally more easily refined over time than defined.<br /><br />In the coming weeks I'll be using this  ]]></media:text>

        <media:text type="html"><![CDATA[ So we just found out that Heather was accepted to participate in the upcoming "Lowbrow Tarot"  www.lowbrowtarot.com art project.  With just under 1000 applicants, Heather was one of the 23 artists chosen!  Needless to say we are pretty excited about it.  There are some very heavy hitting artists participating in this show and we are honored that Heather was one of the accepted artists!!!! ]]></media:text>

        <media:text type="html"><![CDATA[ Wow!  Thanks so much to everyone for all your wonderful comments about my piece "Self-Portrait" which was featured as a daily deviation yesterday.  I loved reading all the different contemplations and interpretations that arose from the piece, and I was inspired by all of you to write a bit about my own take on it.<br /><br />For me this painting is about asking the question "who am I?"  Am I a body?  A mind?  A soul?  Could there be some larger, transcendent part of myself, obscured from view by the more obvious?  Am I really who I think I am?<br /><br />What struck me most in the creation of this work, was the idea that if all these facets of the puppet show a ]]></media:text>
