An artist never sleeps....

Well I've been doing alot of work on my wacom. I can tell that I'm getting better with each new project I work on.

I'm also a member at Epilogue.com and have yet to do anything (including my photo manipulations) that hasn't been rejected by them. So I'm marking my progress there on each of my works here at deviant gallery until I reach my goal of haivng one acceptable by their standard.

I'm getting alot of great feeback at GFXArtist too and here at deviant that helps me better my technique. Thanks everyone!

As for my writing, I'm still moving forward but slowly. I had a book recently released at Cobblestone Press called Something Wild for our Octoberfest month - an erotic paranormal historical set during the Jack The Ripper murders. Louisa Gallie did the cover art for this book and its absolutely gorgeous!

We work with alot of great artists at Cobblestone and they constantly amaze me with their dedication and skill.

I will be adding more and more to my gallery here - I've dedicated myself to producing at least one new work a week. Now if I could get that dedicated with my writing!

Yes, I've been doing art...lol

I've added a couple of works that I've completed recently. I'm discovering just how impatient I really am. It took me two hours to do the portrait images and I was just about ready to beat the hell out of the woman before I finished. LOL I do not know how some of these artists can work on something for 8-10 hours without losing their minds.

I'm also writing so it's been a good creaive boost in my life.

And today, Cobblestone Press received RWA acceptance as a non vanity publisher. YAY! Very excited about that. We needed some good news after a stressful week.

I hope to have some more art to add soon.

I know I know I'm a loser

I've just been swamped with Cobblestone Press and all the going ons over there that I've not had alot of time for journaling and art. I just finished the covers for our big Vampire Oracle Card project. I'm very pleased with how those covers turned out.

So I'm still trudging along. Life is good. I sold a book to Ellora's Cave under the pen name Amon Bieste and am VERY happy with the sales so far. I'm actually making enough from the sales of all of my books together to start paying off some bills! As of August, our credit cards are paid off (cue heavenly music from the rafters). We have a couple of loans, both under 10K together so no biggie, that we want to get paid off next. And then the house...which makes my head hurt when I think of how much it will cost to pay THAT one off.

I've got lots of books in the works right now...it's ridiculous really...a few vampire romances, a western cowboy romance series, another Salacity book, and another Amon Bieste book for EC.

I hope to take some time soon - probably after September to start a large art project here. I've gotten better with my tablet now and am much more comfortable using it now.

SO hopefully I can get some new stuff up for everyone to take a gander at over the next few months.

During this three day event on June 1-3, we'll be releasing the first issue of CPQ Magazine that I've been putting together, and officially announcing a new series at Cobblestone, one that I've almost completed all 25 covers for.

I don't know if you guys have seen the work done by Kerembeyit [link] but it is fabulous...very inspiring. I visit his site often and just sit and stare at the detail. Some works take him 15 or so hours to complete.

I'm doing good if I can work on something for 2 hours...and it shows. I'm impatient. I start something and then hurry to finish it. While, of course, I don't expect to do anything like Kerembeyit, I do have my own style and there was a time when I'd no problems working on something for long periods of time.

Now days, however, it seems like I'm always in a hurry. Impatient with my own impatience I am. And it sucks. Because I KNOW I can create something pretty if I would just slow down and take my time. *sigh*

I will continue to try...while I might be impatient I'm also determined. Until I make it, I will continue to visit Kerembeyit site and drool over his works and talent.
I think I'm going to try to do an image of The Hanging Gardens of Babylon. I've collected images already created to study while coming up with my own version of this wonder. Once I have my basic design of how I want to start, I will archive my progress in my scraps area like I did the Lil Red project until I finish the image.

I suppose I need some new year artist resolutions?

1. Get better using my artpad
2. Create an original image to submit to magazines
3. Write and Illustrate a children's book to publish at Lulu.com (perhaps have published with a publisher)
4. Create a cover at Cobblestone Press that will final in the Ariana Awards at EPIC this year.
How's that?

Folks, I've not done a project like this in over 14 years. lol Most of my recent work has been poser or photo manipulation.

I'll be keeping my progress stored in my scraps area here at my d.a. site until I finish the project...so you all will be able to see how crappy it looks until I get the hang of using the pen and learn more about creating original art on the artpad.

I've decided to try to do an image of a very sexy lil red riding the back of a wolf beast.
Have been working on some new images...

Okay, so I took a break from showing off all my cover art at Cobblestone Press and decided to share some images that I've been working on.

Artist Dan Skinner, a friend of mine, has been encouraging me to try my hand at fantasy art...so here I am with mermaids, a centaur, and a unicorn. Can't get any more fantasy than that.

I've got a few more available for viewing at my art site: [link]

All I've ever designed before are images for romance cover art. So it was fun to try a different genre. I'd like to do more, but haven't the time right now so I'll have to wait until I get a few hourse to work on something.

I've a new book contracted with Cobblestone Press and scheduled for release later in the year called Salacity. I've got info at my website: [link]

And at Cobblestone, we are celebrating Octoberfest - paranormal, dark fantasy, and halloween themed romance titles all month long.

I LOVE Halloween. Yes, I still dress up...usually as something dead. LOL But it's so much fun. I love watching all the Ghost & Haunting shows on t.v. - scaring myself so that I can't even sleep. But then I've always loved Horror movies so its no suprise I'd like the real ghosties too.

Anyway, that's up with me. Hope everyone enjoys the new images in the gallery.
We now have a total, including myself, seven cover artists at Cobblestone Press. I'm thrilled to have so much talent - working with Cobblestone, each artist with unique recognizable styles.

I've written nothing. Nada. I have a cool Halloween story idea and the first two pages written but nothing else to squeeze out on paper. I may have to designate one day of the week to my own writing and stick to it...even if all I do is write crap until I get used to the routine. Cause this no writing at all just isn't working for me. LOL

I've been designing cover art like crazy over at Cobblestone Press, LLC. You know when Deanna Lee and I first decided to start our own e-publisher I was so afraid that people wouldn't warm to what we were trying to do but the response has been phenomenal! I'm so excited about each and every one of our books...and can't wait for June 2 to get here so we enjoy our Grand Opening.

Haven't really been writing anything BUT I found some research that I thought I had lost when my computer crashed. It was all my research about Jamestown and I nearly cried when I stumbled onto it on one of my old back up discs. (I have so many).

The Cobblestone Press Library is off and running...it's very cool and we've already had several people volunteer to be librarians and to add research resources, links, and information. I have a feeling it's going to be a huge library that will be great for authors researching for books. I'm so glad we decided to keep it open to the public too and not just Cobblestone Press authors. Lots of folks dropping in there now.

So that's about it. Busy busy but loving it.
I've added some of the cover art I've done already to the gallery. I'm quite pleased with all of them - more importantly, so are the authors.

About two weeks ago, my computer DIED...yes died. Stopped breathing. Went to heaven. DIED.

Lost everything (my art and writing was backed up! yeah for me!) - so I had a nekkid computer for a couple of days...which was odd. I'm pack rattish by nature and my computer was no different. So now I get to start all over. lol

I'm still playing in Poser (sorry to those of you who don't like poser) - trying to work with it in my other art programs to take out the rubberish people look and try to give them depth and believable emotion. I got myself tickled using the expressions toggle in the program. You can make some f*cked up looking folks with that thing. LOL Anyway, I'm WORKING with it so no new poser images to share yet.

And finally, does anybody know what the hell walrus gumboot is?

EXTREMELY busy lately. Deanna Lee and I are starting a new epubblisher called Cobblestone Press (www.cobblestone-press.com) so between that and doing various cover art assignments, I've been busy busy. Friday is my birthday.... So I decided I would do some premade cover art this week in celebration of how wonderful I am at 32 years. LOL

On the writing end, I'm working on cleaning up several manuscripts to submit to agents and publishers - novel lengths. AND I'm working on writing a couple more stories for my Darkness Series at Venus Press.

So things are going great!

Spinning

Okay, so not sick anymore. Sable Grey Designs has partnered with Cerberus Inc and we have revamped our site.

I've added all kinds of new covers to the Sable Grey Designs site and am very happy to have some up using photos that I took. I like using stock images -totally addicted to istock-but I like having my own photos to use too.

I got Corel Paint Shop Pro X this weekend. Love it so much more than PSP8
And I think I'm getting another art program soon too. Kind of excited about that.

Aside from the art, Piers Anthony is going to be published at Venus Press where some of my books are published! I'm so EXCITED about that!

Also, I'm writing again. Thank God! Finished Chasing Shadows, sequel to When Darkness Falls. And tonight (well it's after 5. a.m. so I guess it was really last night and this morning) I wrote half...yes half...of a new book! Been awhile since I sat down and wrote for hours like that. it feels good...though my back is starting to hurt a little from sitting infront of my computer for so long.

Still, I'm feeling really happy today.

Tired of being Sick and Sick of Being Tired

I've had about 5 hours total sleep in the past three days. Why? I'm sick as a dog. I've got the crud...aka Flu. I laid down and took a 30 min nap today (about as long as I can lay down before my nose is so stuffy I can't breathe) and dreamed the doctor told me I had the Bird Flu and was gonna die. LOL

And I feel whiney but I didn't let it stop me from being productive. I've been designing covers, adding galleries to my design site, working on my author pages...etc. Now, I can't go see anyone...cause not only do I look like the devil drug his spiked tail across my face - LOL - I feel like shit as well.

Anyhoo, new cover uploaded today. First of the covers for the Bad Girls Gallery. I'm working on two more to add there this weekend. I also added a Gallery of Hunks - mostly just men's bodies. LOL

So that's been my last three days. SICK SICK SICK - I'm tired of it now. I don't have time to be sick. I've got deadlines looming, covers to make, and places to go.
So I've been trying to build up a nice collection there for authors to choose from: erotic, romantic, fantasy, horror, thriller, etc.

OMG I had a fabulous time tonight! I'm still buzzing. I did an interview on the internet radio show Jewel's Way (www.jewelsway.com) about my books. We had a contest and I got to give away four books...I love giving away prizes. Oh, I had so much fun.

I know I sounded dug up country...I guess I am...but it was such a great time.

No writing tonight, no art...I'm too wired. I probably won't sleep till early in the morning but then I will most likely crash.

I can't believe I talked about so much stuff...including dysfunctions on the air like that...it just came right out like I was talking to my momma or something. LOL Good lord. But maybe people like me now that they know I'm as messed up as they are. LOL

I wish I had some art to submit to tonight....but there is no way I could consentrate right now ...it would be some deranged art. LOL

I'm gonna focus on writing a bit tomorrow when I do drag my butt out of bed. I've kinda pushed the writing back with all the cover art I've been doing lately. But I AM a writer first. So I need to get some writing done before I start to get irritable about it.

I feel a lil upset with myself because when I was doing the interview I didn't mentione a new group I've just joined called Behind the Muses (www.behindthemuses.com) OR the anthology I'm working on with my friend, Deanna Lee. Duh. But we had so many emails and callers that the hour went by so fast. I'm glad. I was nervous at the very beginning then I just forgot about being nervous and had a great time.

Anyway, I'm off to try to calm down. I'm so thrilled with how everything went!

I find it amusing that in all these online-internet dramas between writers, that when the story of what has happened is relayed in a public forum, only half the story is told. AND it's always from a victim's point of view.

Good grief.

It gets so old. It really does. And I sit here and think...these are grown women (or men - whichever the case may be for that particular drama) behaving like little kids. Some of them are married with children of their own who would probably get a time out for behaving the way their parent does online.

It's pathetic.

IF they behave like this in "real" life then they apparantly are socially challenged and I don't want to be around them -OR- they don't behave like this in "real" life which means they are cowards hiding behind a box in some room in their house - and I don't want to be around them. Most people don't. They are too stupid either way to realize it.

I suppose stupid people need love too and that's why they seem to find one another in the crowds. Then there's a stupid "club" of three or four individuals. Before long they write a book about how cool it is to be stupid and think alike and the next thing you know, you have a stupid cult. Cue other stupid people paying money to join stupid cult. And they all end up in a hotel room with brand new tennis shoes - all of them killed themselves - while waiting for the aliens to come. Cue stupid newstory to report the stupidity.

Sorry, it got a little out of control. What was I talking about...oh yeah...stupid writers.

Anyway, I do get weary of the bickering between drama queens. I wish these people would grow the eff up and get a life....or join a stupid cult...I don't really care as long as I don't have to see how pathetic they are anymore.

Well I'm still moving in to the art director postition over at Venus Press and pulled another long night tonight. I'm hoping to be caught up and settled in by the end of this week.

Not much writing done these past few days. I'm starting to feel the edge from that too. If I go too long without writing, I start to get grumpy. But that will even out after this weekend I'm sure.

I was thinking about relationships today and how so many people hope that they can just meets someone that they like and who likes them enough to have a relationship. That's something I've not thought of since I was 18 years old. I think being married (twice) shook that attitude for me. After my first divorce, I lived alone and rather liked it. I didn't feel I had to be with someone to be happy --- probably because I'd been so unhappy before when I WAS with someone. I learned to make myself happy...to be happy with me and it never even occurred to me that I would ever have to settle for someone who didn't love me...I mean, how could someone resist me right? LOL

People, in my opinion, are just too hard on themselves and put too much pressure on themselves when it comes to relationships. My philosophy has always been, if I can't make myself happy, how can I expect to make someone else happy? So I make me happy, and the rest just falls into place.

For five years, before I decided to dedicate myself just to my writing, I started, owned, ran, and counseled for an organization for adult survivors of abuse. I ran into so many men and women who didn't know how to be without somebody - anybody regardless if they were an asshole or not.

I refuse. This is my life and I deserve all the happiness that a person can get in the 70+ years we are given. I refuse to settle and do not live by "if you can't be with the one you love, love the one you're with"...fun, catchy tune - crappy message. I'd much rather dance through life singing "Don't Worry Be Happy."

Now, that I've made sure to stink that song in your head for awhile, I'll sign out. lol
