Hi, y'all! How was everyone's summer? ^^

School days are approaching and summer vakay is drawing to a close, but just for some last-minute fun, here's an original character questionnaire.

You can just answer the questions for fun, or you can do the art challenge, which goes as thus:

Draw an avatar or OC from your gallery of made-up characters in a way that incorporates, let's say, 5 of the elements listed in the questionnaire. (You can use more or less than the aforementioned number if you want. No pressure.) Please display the answered questionnaire in the artist's comments section for the challenge pic.

And here is the questionnaire:

_______________________________________

Character Profile Questionnaire

Please use the following questions to describe an avatar or an original character of your choice. You may answer the questions as if you were the chosen character.

1.	Name?

2.	Nicknames or aliases?

3.	Race?

4.	Gender?

5.	Age?

6.	What does he/she look like?

7.	What about his/her personality?

8.	Powers, skills, and/or special abilities? (Strengths, weaknesses, etc.)

9.	Religious or cultural beliefs and traditions? (Customs, holidays, etc.)

10.	Friends and family? (You may include pets.)

11.	Likes and dislikes?

12.	What does he/she do for fun?

13.	Personal history / Background?

14.	His/Her most treasured possession?

15.	Favorite food or drink (or both)?

16.	What would be the first word that comes to mind when someone meets your character for the first time?

17.	Who is your character based on?

18.	If your character could be inserted into any book, show, movie, etc., what would they be like and how would they influence the plot? (If you’ve chosen a fan character, please insert him/her into a different storyline than the one he/she is already in.)

19.	What does he/she like in a friend or acquaintance? In a soulmate? Does he/she have any crushes or romantic relationships?

20.	Is your character more of a leader or a follower?

21.	What is the key thing people like about your character?

22.	Does your character have a trademark? (Can be an item of clothing, a saying/motto, a certain facial expression, etc.)

23.	Name a song and/or quote that best suits your character’s personality.

24.	And now for a totally random question: If your character was a superhero, what would be his/her superhero alias? (If you’ve already answered this question in one of the previous entries, you can answer a random question of your own.)

25.	Well, that’s the end of this questionnaire. Anyone you want to tag? (^_^)

_______________________________________

If you DO answer the questionnaire or do the challenge, please leave a comment and let me see!

Cheers! ^_0

Hi, everyone! What's up?

It's cherry blossom season here in Tokyo. I went with my dad a little while ago to see the flowering trees near a temple and the sight was just amazing. Clouds of pink petals hovering over our heads and warm (finally!) spring weather. ^^

Anyways, the following is a questionnaire I came up with a while ago to help me come up with profiles for original characters. I thought I'd post it here for fun. Feel free to use it for your own characters. If you do, please send me a message so I can see! ^_0

Here's a filled-out sample questionnaire about my OC/avatar:
----------
Character Profile Questionnaire:

Please use the following questions to describe an avatar or an original character of your choice. You are free to answer the questions as if you were the aforementioned character.

1. Name?

Myri Freezefire (Myri is pronounced ‘Mai-ri&#146

2. Nicknames or aliases?

My-chan
Keeper of the Frozen Flame

3. Race?

Halfling (part-human, part-fae). To be more specific, Myri is a ‘quarterling’ since her father is human while her mother is a halfling herself. She doesn’t know about her heritage until much later.

4. Gender?

Female

5. Age?

14 (but is often mistaken for a 12-year-old due to her short stature)

6. Religious or cultural beliefs and traditions? (e.g. holidays celebrated, certain customs, etc.)

Myri celebrates Christmas (and Hanukkah) and most holidays on the human calendar with her family and friends. It is not currently known what kind of fae traditions she upholds.

7. Describe your character (in both personality and physical appearance).

Dark brown hair with snow white bangs parted in the middle, usually pulled back in a low ponytail. Lightly tanned skin and tea-colored brown eyes that can change color. A little under 5 feet. Slightly pointed elfin ears.
Myri’s default ‘civilian’ attire consists of blue jeans, green and white shoes, a white zip-up vest over a long-sleeved striped dark and light brown hoodie, and a handmade glass-bead necklace with matching juzu-style bracelet on her left wrist.
She also has magician robes in black, white, red, and gold with a customized insignia on an armband on her left sleeve.

Myri’s pretty polite and mild-mannered for the most part…which is why people are so surprised seeing her get all excited when she’s really into something (namely books, magic tricks, mysteries, and exploring). She’s a bit on the shy side, but she’s one of the friendliest people you’ll ever know when she opens up. She’s also very patient, which makes her an ideal peacekeeper when her friends get into an argument. Myri’s curiosity can rival that of a cat, but she’s managed to stay out of trouble. She’s perceptive about the world around her and likes learning new things everyday.
At school, Myri would most likely be the top candidate for ‘teacher’s pet.’ She’s also well-liked by the kids in the younger grades, who regard her as an older sister (‘oneechan&#146.

8. Any powers or special abilities? (Strengths, weaknesses, etc.)

Shapeshifting, flight, the gift of tongues, healing, some basic magic
Control over fire, ice, earth, and lightning
Energy manipulation, casting glamours / illusions, knowledge of various spells

Freezefire, a rare, mystical element that looks like a blue-white flame, but is as cold as ice and freezes rather than burns. Another name for it in one fae language is ‘Hieran’.

The Miras Lukia, also known as ‘The Silver Sight’, allows the user to see through illusions and find hidden paths and auras. It is called that due to the silver glow that lights the user’s eyes when he or she calls upon this power.

Myri uses a crescent moon-topped magician’s staff to channel her powers and can summon a jeweled rapier to fight entities that fall into the ‘armed and dangerous’ category.

Due to her fae heritage, Myri has a slight aversion to iron. However, it is not as severe as it is for her fae cousins. For example, where the tolling of an iron bell might bring some fae entities to their knees from the pain, Myri would only receive a headache ranging from mild to aggravating.

9. Friends and family? (You may include pets.)

(Any descriptions you want to add in for your characters are up to you. My descriptions are just longish because I wanted to get some ideas out. ^^)

Cyril Zephyr Anemoi, a Dreamwalker, one of many guardians of the Dreamti...

Hi, guys! Long time no see! How have you all been? ^^
Sorry for not commenting or messaging you guys for so long. It's been a while since I've been active on devART. I've watched some of the deviations, but I really missed interacting with the other devART members.
I've been busy with international college in Tokyo. I've settled in for the most part, and my first semester's already passed. I had classes in both English and Japanese. I took an Introduction to Theatre and Drama class where I learned a bit about Noh and the origins of western theatre. Part of the class involved going to see a Noh version of Shakespeare's tragedy "King Lear." Needless to say, it was an interesting experience.
I also started taking French this year, and it was taught in Japanese, which got slightly confusing at times.
I'm on spring break at the moment. Surprisingly, our holiday schedule seems to follow the Japanese one, so our spring break is considerably longer, nearly a month and a half. It also means that our summer vacation is shorter though... >.<
I've already gone up to Hokkaido to visit my family. There's still a lot of snow up there, enough to pile up to my waist. I was also just in time for the Sapporo Snow Festival, and I had a lot of fun watching the artists' work. They had a huge-scale Disney-themed ice sculpture and there was even one ice sculpture that had real fish and crabs frozen in it! I'll update a page with the photos I took later on.
Other than school, I've been occupied with working on some stories on FF.net and upgrading my avatar. I'll be using part of my break to get my ideas out.

Well, I hope I'll get to chat with you guys again real soon! It's been too long.

More for later, bye for now! ^_0

Hello, all! ^^
According to my devART page, I've been gone for a little over four weeks. Yikes... I think that's a new record for me. O.O
Sorry I haven't been commenting lately on art and messages. I was working on my college applications. And then I caught the stomach flu a little while ago. I actually had to stay home from school for the first time in several years. (I can't remember the last time I was that sick. I think the last time was when I was in the third grade.) I went to the local hospital and got my first IV drip. It was medicine to help lower my fever (which was rather high). It took about two hours to get all the medicine into my system. It was kind of a weird experience for me. Due to the positioning of the needle, I had to keep my arm straight the whole time. I spent most of the wait dozing or talking with my mom, who sat with me the entire two hours. ^^
Luckily, it was only the early stages of the illness, so I wasn't seriously ill for too long. I was gone Thursday and Friday, and then I had the weekend to get better. I still wasn't feeling completely up to scratch the following week, but I was well enough to get up and go to school. I'm completely better now. And I'm on winter break now!
What have I missed? I'll have to check my messages and my friends' art updates. Well, hopefully I'll be able to do some catching up with everyone here. I've missed you all.
I may update a Christmas and New Years pic sometime this or the upcoming month. I might even update my ID pic while I'm at it.

To end this journal, here's an early Merry Christmas from me to everyone!

Hello! I'm back! ^^
I had an interesting trip. The flight from Japan to Cali was long, but they had some interesting movies on, "Dororo", "Ghost Rider", and "Flushed Away", for instance.
I had a good time in California. First, my parents and I got to see my friends and do some catching up with them. I got to see "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix". It was pretty dark-themed, and there were several elements from the book missing, but the special effects were cool. The Patronuses looked quite spectacular.
I also got to visit a couple of colleges in LA. They were pretty nice: lots of trees and spacious grounds with libraries and some restaurants nearby. The academic programs sounded interesting as well.
On the last night of our stay, my parents and I had dinner at a mall in LA. It reminded me of Disneyworld because of the trolleys and the water-display fountain. They even had a movie theater showing "Ratatouille." It was a cute and funny movie. ^^
The flight back was quite long. I read something to keep myself occupied, but I spent almost half the flight sleeping. By the time we got home last night, I was dead tired.
Well, now I'm here and glad to be home. I missed talking to you all. ^^
In precisely three days, I'll be departing for California with my parents to visit my friends and do some college campus touring. I'm going to take my laptop with me, but I'm not sure if I'll be visiting my devART page during the few days I'm there.

And here are my eight responses from Kalma. ^^

1. I like your avatar! @.@
2. well, you said that about drawing Kalma soooo would you mind to draw her with wyld for the club? xD
3. yellow
4. you'rez nicez X3
5. eehmmm it's related to Keroro's comic :3
6. ehm... a mermaid is an animal??
7. did I really want to ask you something?? O.O
8. *next journal!*

One of the things on my things-to-draw list will definitely be the Kalma and Wyld pic requested in response number 2. It'll be fun to do. The only OCs I've drawn are my own avatar and my story character Jenn (a.k.a. Runoari), both of which can be found in my gallery. It should be a nice experience to draw Sonic fan characters.

Well, I've posted as promised, Kalma! And thanks for the compliments! ^^

Hi everyone! ^^

Kisa here. I went to the Japanese Yuki-Matsuri (Snow Festival) in Odori. I had a lot of fun looking at all the different ice carvings and snow sculptures. They even made a snowboarding ramp! The food there was yummy too. I got a chocolate banana with sprinkles at one booth. I also tried something called imo mochi. It's basically mochi mixed with potato (hence the imo), and it tasted like a combo of mochi and mashed potatoes. It was really good. ^^

I took a lot of pictures. They had statues of the Nippon Ham Fighters (a baseball team) mascot, Totoro, and even Stitch! There were even buildings made of ice and snow! Those were pretty cool. I saw some pictures of what the ice carvings looked like at night, and it turns out that they light the displays up with colored lights. It looked amazing. I'll post up the photos in my gallery later.

Hello everyone! ^^
Kisa-chan here just wanting to wish you all a great new year of 2007!
For New Year's Day, my family had some traditional Japanese dinner (osechi-ryori). There were bamboo shoots, egg rolls, and chawamushi (something like steamed egg pudding). *mmmm*
My family and I had some untraditional mont blanc for dessert. I got to help make the whipped cream. My arm got tired from beating the cream, but I had fun.
I also watched a movie called "Brave Story." For those of you who havn't seen it, it's a really cool story about a boy named Wataru who goes to an alternate world called Vision to ask the Goddess of Destiny to change his fate. I want to find the DVD for it if I can. X3
Hope everyone had a great New Year! ^_0

Hey there! ^^

I'll be leaving for three or four days to see a friend of mine from Cali. We're meeting in Tokyo, so come the 21st, I'll be going to the Haneda airport in Sapporo with my mom and dad.

I haven't seen my friend in a while, so I'm really excited about this trip. I haven't seen her for a month.
I'll bring my laptop along so I can keep in contact with my other friends in Cali and with my fellow devArtists.

My friend loves hedgehogs, so I got her a folder with a picture of an adorable hedgehog on it. ^^
We'll probably go shopping. Mama said we might even go to Odaiba in the Tokyo district. I've never done karaoke before, so I want to try it at least once, whether it's in Honshu or in Hokkaido.

Anyway, we should be back in Sapporo on Christmas Eve. Home for Christmas! ^^

Merry Christmas! Yoi otoshi wo! (Happy New Year!)

It's my birthday today!

We're a day earlier than Cali here in Japan, so if I was over there, I'd be celebrating my b-day tomorrow.
Mama and Papa bought a cake for me: strawberry shortcake with 'Happy Birthday!' written in white cream words on a chocolate slate. Mmmm... ^^

My grandmother gave me an envelope with a beautiful picture of a branch of plum blossoms on it. Inside was a card with an iris flower design on it and 20,000 yen (about $200.00) for me to spend as I wanted. O.o
I thought it was a bit too much (I really don't shop THAT much ), but she told me to consider half of it as an early Christmas present. That was very sweet of her. It can be hard to find a gift for someone you care about, so it can be a good idea to let them choose. Quite frankly, I'm not sure what I want either.

Mama gave me a silver Tiffany ring with the star Sirius on it. It was so cute!
Mama and Papa told me that wearing a ring on your left ring finger stands for engagement or marriage, so I think I'll be wearing it on my right ring finger or one of my middle fingers.

Papa got me this cool light display wand. First, you scan a image into the wand. Any image that is fairly simple and darkly-outlined will work. When you shake the wand really fast, the scanned image shows up in orange lighting. Awesome, isn't it? ^^

We didn't have a big party since it was a school day, but it was pretty great all the same. I just wish my friends could've been here to celebrate with me. T T Well, at least I got to be with my family. ^^

Cheers! ^_0

Third day in Japan today. I think I'm starting to get the hang of it. ^^
I went alone to school today. Mom went with me the first two days since I'm still new here, but this time I went by myself. I bought the train ticket and everything. It wasn't so hard after I went with Mom the first two times. The only thing to watch for is making sure I get off at the right stop.

The thing about my new school (Hokkaido International School, or H.I.S. 'his' *lol*) is that it's an hour away. I need to walk to the bus stop, take the bus to the train station, ride the train from Oasa to Sapporo, change trains, and then go from Sapporo to Sumikawa, where the H.I.S. is. Ah, those years of being to driven have spoiled me...

Heya! ^^
I'll be on the flight to Tokyo next Thursday. It feels strange. There's packing boxes all over the first story carpet.
This Sunday, I went to a ballet class friend's house for a farewell party with another friend in the same class. I had fun. We ate pasta and ice cream and even got to watch a movie (Howl's Moving Castle *^^*). I even got presents: a Hello Kitty cell phone charm, two necklaces, and a warm vest (it'll be cold in Japan in the winter, that was thoughtful!).
Most importantly, I got my two friends' emails. Phone calls are fun, but long distance might be a bit much.
One of the friends is going to go to Japan over winter break. That means I'll be able to see her and be her tour guide. Not that I'm experienced enough to go walking around alone in Tokyo or Sapporo. On another note, I haven't updated in a while since I can't think of anything to draw quite yet.
I'm open to requests starting now. I'll try going for three requests for now. First come, first served.
The pics might take a while to show up though. I might be busy with the move unless I manage to get in some drawing time in between.

Here's that matter I mentioned last time. I'm just going to tell you as it was. I need to get this off my chest.
I'm moving back to Japan. I'm technically a citizen there, so I'm going 'back home.'
But...California's been my home for the past SIXTEEN years. I have some friends over in Japan, but I don't know them all THAT well. All of the closest friends I've ever known are here.
I've made four moves in the past, the first one being the time I came to Cali from Japan when I was just a few months old. My entire life has been basically revolving around my home in the U.S. and my yearly summer visits to my relatives in Japan.
When I go to Japan in about two weeks, I'm going to leave all the friends I made here in Cali. When Mama told me we were going back after we returned once to the U.S., I was just...stunned. I didn't feel anything on the trainride back to where we were staying at Ningyouchou in Tokyo...but when we reached Papa's apartment, I cried for a little while at the thought that the next time I went to the US, I would just be a visitor, not a resident. The only word I could think of was 'uprooted.'
Mama told me I could still see my friends over the summer and winter breaks and that cheered me up a little...just a little... Mama also said I could go to college in the U.S. if I wanted. So I guess I'll be back in a year and a half if I work hard enough at my schoolwork.

Strangely, I feel better about it now...even a little excited. I thought I'd still be even a slightest bit teary after that, but it's true. I even got to see the school I'll be going to while I'm living in Japan. It was an international school in Sumikawa. Pretty nice too. Their mascot was a husky dog. My schooling in Japan was set...all that was left to do was tell my friends...

I've already told my friends at school. It felt really strange for me to be able to say the news outright as if I was just commenting on the weather. It's probably because the reality of it hasn't hit me quite yet...even now.
Needless to say, they were as shocked as I was when I told them. My best friend wasn't very happy about it and still isn't. *Sigh* She's doing her best to be cheerful about it though. She gives me a hug everytime we meet and part at school even though I won't be leaving till the 26th. She's really a true friend. ^^

Well, that's pretty much what happened. I'll still be able to mail my friends and access this site, so I'll keep in touch. It's going to be a whole new beginning when I step on the plane...I just hope I'm ready for it...

I had fun while I was there. I went to a restaurant and ate soba with tempura donburi. *yum!* ^^
One of the things I love most about Japan is the department stores. They have just about everything! You name it! Food markets with mouth-watering delicacies and cakes and cute clothes and other articles.
I got some cool souveniers for my friends. There was this Ainu shop (the Ainu are a race of Japanese with facial features similar to Native Americans, at least from what I've seen in their art). They make pretty cool stuff! I got a necklace with a lily of the valley design for my friend at school and a wooden carved flying squirrel pin for myself. I also got a cute mug for my boy friend.
I had homework I had to do the week I was gone, but the time difference interfered a little. I kept falling asleep before I got my homework finished.
Now I'm back, and it's Sunday. I have school tomorrow. I wish I had another day to get readjusted to California time.
Oh, well. Back to the school schedule, I suppose.

Just as a warning, one serious matter will be disclosed in the next journal, but for now, I'll just tell you the good part of my trip. Mata ne!

They were two charms: a gold snake on a silk cord, and a silver protection charm.
They were in a paper file-holder. Surprisingly, my mom also lost her ring in one of those things.
Anyway, I'm just glad to have them back. I'm mean, the snake charm was from my aunt. I felt horrible when I couldn't find it. The other charm was from a shrine I visited the last time I went to Japan. It was a cool place. They taught archery there, and there were a lot of cool places to see. ^^

When you're talking to someone (esp. someone you don't get to see very often) over the phone, you get some background noise mixed into the conversation sometimes.
Though some people might find background noise a bit distracting, I find that it helps me visualize what's going on around my 'phone buddy'. It makes it easier to talk sometimes if I can more fully visualize that person on the other end.
I've realized this from the times I talk to my grandmother over the phone. I really want to visit her and my relatives and friends in Japan again soon, but I'll have to wait till next summer vacay. T^T Unfortunately, it isn't easy to visit your relations when they live an ocean away. I haven't seen my cousin Asami-chan in YEARS. She's in college now. I wish I could see her again...will I recognize her?

I've been calling my grandmother more than I used to. I'm also thinking of asking Mom for the phone numbers of my aunts and cousins. A while back, the thought of calling my relatives in Japan never seemed to cross my mind. I feel rather guilty when I think about that. I wonder if it was because I rarely got to see them face to face. My visits usually lasted only two weeks a year in the summer. It used to be my grandmother who called me first. Lately, I've been the one who calls her first. It's almost becoming an obssession for me. Mom said I shouldn't call too soon after a phone chat...that it was best to allow my grandmother some space and not overwhelm her with continuous calls.

Well, at least I can always find the time for a phone conversation. I'm certainly looking forward to the next one.
I should write to (or call) my cousins sometime. I haven't contacted them in so long.
I'm always ready to listen...whether it's a friend...or family...
I can't help it! The drawings are so cool!!
I must've added about six pics to my favorites yesterday! Well...maybe not...but I'm still overly enthusiastic about art! Especially chibis , cool scenery, and magic. *dances with joy*

One thing's for sure...I'll definitely try to get more art on my page in the near future.

*one year later*
Future Me: Yes! I finally got my second piccy updated!
Present Me: Not that far into the future!!

*lol* ^_^

Whew! After nearly two weeks of being a deviantART user, I've finally gotten my artwork on my page.
Yay! Dance with me!
I'd like to thank all the people I bugged to death for information regarding how to use the devART features.
Hey, I do check the Help buttons, but some things you just have to ask. Besides, I'm still a newbie.
Thank you, guys!

Now all I have to do is bug you again to prepare for my next pic!
Just kidding! *lol*

Hi! This is my first time on deviantART. As a user, that is. I must've gone on deviantART hundreds of times before today. Well, I did promise myself I'd get a devART account in the summer. I guess it's only logical that I'd log myself in on the last day of school, the beginning of summer break. I guess I wanted to join partly because I got hooked on looking at other people's art and partly because my friends were in it. Now that I'm here, I'm gonna have to get into the vibe and get acquainted with the devART page. But since I'm too sleepy right now, I'll just leave off here and...Zzzzzzzzzzz...
