First off, I want to say that I've missed this site so much more than I thought I ever could...and looking through all the new talent, I've been feeling a great deal more like my old self than I have in quite a long time. Though, it's been hard...my grandpa died a few days ago, and his funeral's tomorrow. And really, he's the reason I was reminded that family isn't EVER just blood. He was my stepgrandfather, though you never would have known it if you saw us together. My real grandfather...well...he's only that by blood. I honestly would not be surprised to see him tomorrow, all dressed to the nines, smiling that disgusting smirk that reminds me why I, having suffered nothing under him, still manage to hate him more than any other. 'Grandfather' probably would have insisted that I be disowned when I came out to everyone, if he hadn't managed to lynch me first...

Ah, I sound so pathetic, I know...but that's where my grandpa came in. He wasn't blood-kin...and neither are any of you, nor any of my truly dear friends. And yet...and yet you're just as much my family as anyone else...and that's a joy I've long since felt I didn't deserve...But I'm honored to have it. I guess...I just wanted to say that, since I haven't been online in forever, and haven't heard from most of you for just as long. *smiles a little* I think...I won't mourn tomorrow...he wouldn't want to see me cry. *sigh* Two more long, agonizing weeks to go...but at least I don't have to deal with my family for the time being. If you're curious, minna-chan, as to my disappearance this time, it's my folks. Mum and I....aren't talking...and da's not around mentally or physically to talk to. *sigh* It...I dunno, it's just hard.
Some advice to young freshmen and high school seniors...don't go to a college close to home unless you don't have a beef with your parents. Also, if you can talk with them on an equal level, keep it that way! My mother still has no idea how much I hate the way she treats my younger brothers over me...because I don't want to hurt my feelings. Hell, it took me two years to come out because they're both so homophobic...I envy anyone out there who has a set of folks more understanding than mine. And yet...I still love them more than I thought I could, no matter how depressed, angry, or just exasperated they make me. Anywho....aside from my familial problems, I have at least SOME good news.
Plushies and portrait are sent, and I apologize for the massive delay...I want to open commissions for Christmas, but as much as I'm working, that's just not going to happen this year...however, my club --> is doing Valentine's and White's Day commissions for the month of February.

Ugh...it's been so freakin' chaotic the past month or so...I'm sorry to anyone who thinks I'm dead. I'm not, but just barely...Buuuuuuuuut....FIVE MORE DAYS. YES. FIVE MORE. THEN I NEVER HAVE TO LOOK AT SOPHOMORE SEMINAR PROJECTS/REPORTS/RESEARCH PAPERS EVER AGAIN!!!!!!!!

And once my marketing plan gets in, I'm good...then get my car fixed, my stress level to go down, etc., etc.,...Anywho...Finally done with commission for the time, and they're still open, of course. Just go to mah club and pull up the journal, and pick your poison.

Also...Yuki-chan! I'm sending your portrait! I finally found a good, safe way to transport it without it dying a horrible death on the way. They should all be mailed out by later today. Yeah...

So tired...so worn out...and still so much to do. But at least I have a few bright spots. Thanks to the club my college friends and I created here on campus, and it's subsequent dA and Facebook incarnations, I've found that the best form of detox from final work is Little Big Planet, Mario Kart (N64), and Mirror's Edge, as well as movies, anime, friends, lots of love, and painting goldfish on people. Well, since I've been seeing more car stuff on here, and a few other things, I figured I'd advertise my college. Here's the college's website [link] . Mac's really nice, not just campus-wise; it's a lovely, friendly atmosphere, even for a dork like me, and you actually get to know the professors. It's usually at about 400-450 students during a high semester, a little less in the smaller ones, so you really get to know everyone, not just as a passing fancy. Also, there're four dorms currently, and a fifth in the works, two male, one female, and one co-ed. It is a private college, so tuition's a painful hole in the pocket book, but it makes up for it in quality. Big colleges classify you; McPherson gives you a hug and a hearty handshake =^w^= Anywho...I'm off to class!

Morgan and Othello because of the sense of sophistication he always seems to have, and Duskmane because of his coloring.

Morgan's as serious as a grammer class. He doesn't joke around much, and though he's a cynical asshole, he generally tends to soften around kids. So, he's a bit like me, except that I'm much lighter-hearted...he's the depressed part of my personality XD

Maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan...ich mochte shlaft...But it's okay now. My roommate and I just got back from Santa Fe, NM, and seriously, it was the coolest thing I've ever done. Among the places we visited were the Plaza Cafe and Restaurant, the Cathedral Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi, and the Chuck Jones Gallery. You heard me, Chuck Jones, creator of the Grinch animated movie, Bugs Bunny and the Looney Tunes clan, and the guy who made me want to be an artist from the start...It was so cool. They also had the work of John Alvin there, the guy who's done thousands of movie posters and who recreates a great deal of Disney art. There was one painting of Beauty and her Beast that made me want to cry...and he's also done Pirates of the Caribbean and Lord of the Rings.

It was just so...much like home. I felt that I'd been there all my life, like those stucco buildings and confusing alleys were more welcoming than the placid river and rows of houses back north. And the Cathedral...I always liked St. Francis because of his devotion to children and animals, and though I myself am not particularly devout, I felt as though I could pray there, and not be judged because I pray to a goddess rather than a god. And even though the temperatures were maybe forty, my heart kept me warmer than any sweater or coat. I know my roommate felt the same, because we both just couldn't stop grinning...and when we weren't beaming, there was a content on our faces. It's home, no matter what my father may say, and I'm going back after college...

As soon as we get them back, I'll post the pictures of the mountains in the morning light. I meant to get more pics, but I forgot to grab my digital...so we had to buy a disposable Sunday. Oh well...the mountains were what I really wanted to get anyway.

Edit: Oh, that reminds me...I'll be at work from 5 to 12 central time, so gomen if I miss you =^w^=

*sighs again* And then there's the lovely quandry of getting to work alive. It's bloody scary with all the black ice on the road...and I couldn't even get back to my hometown anyway without fearing what lies on the interstate. *grumbles a bit* I don't mind winter...it's very pretty and all, and features a lot of beautiful things...but a quarter-inch or more of ice over everything is deeply worrying. And what's bothering me the most is the fact that I can almost hear the trees crying out with pain from their broken limbs...and the ones with broken halves? I'm almost thankful there's been no wind, for all that I miss it, because then the shattered wood would scream from agony.

I'll try and post some pictures of what we're going through right now...most likely from Facebook, as that's where everyone's been posting them. We definitely will be having problems for a while...but at least there's no snow. A blizzard would almost certainly be the death of several people in this little town.

For instance, I'll only write, and maybe throw in a few suggestions; if I try to take over, beat me over the head with a blunt object and yell "BAD!" Seriously. No joke there...anywho...we're not going to be creating a manga or anything at this point, just profile pics of the characters, and situational drawings of events in the story. Also, this is your cue to run with whatever you want. You can sit Morgan down on an amp at a sunset concert, you can throw him off a metaphorical building to show his desperation with his world...you can have him falling asleep with a rabidly burning cigarette between his lips.

I'm leaving the stage open to all of you, and remember this. Zychadelic is a mixture of dream and reality, a setting for both worlds to collide. So, there's no wrong or right way to draw my characters, just as there's no one way to write them. I bow before you all, loves...

Anywho, college is a blast...crazy, but a blast. I'm in the Business major now, but I'll still do art...just more on the side. My night managers are obsessed with kick boxing and karate, but it is kinda fun...they hate me because my friend's teaching me kendo =^w^=

...Not really. Perhaps at the moment I just need to get out of my hometown and go for a walkabout...preferably out of Kansas, but I don't have the time to do that. I hate to say it, but people are just annoying me so much at the moment...talking isn't so bad, but being called up every other night with a 'wanna go do this' makes me feel guilty for refusing...and angry for accepting...
I always feel as though I'll lose my friends if I don't go and do what they want...and then I feel horrible for thinking that they'll up and leave me without a moment's notice just because I'm not doing what they want, when half the time we're following my whims...I'm a really screwed up individual, aren't I?
But, maybe that's the key. Do I need to take time to look inside myself and face the insecurities and stupid little anxieties that are tearing me apart? Or...do I need to let go those parasitic feelings and learn to love myself for all that I am...after all, who could love me truly if I can't love myself? I really don't know...and I'm sorry if this seems self-pitying to anyone. It is, and I needed to get it off my chest, but out in the open, for everyone to dissect and discern, not tucked away in an obscure file on my hard drive.

We then waited twenty minutes for Diru's crew to set things up, get everything organized...it was so worth it. Die was the first out, followed by Toshiya and Kaoru, then Shinya...and at last, Kyo. It was pure love watching Shinya get settled behind his monster of a drumset; the son-of-a-bitch was bigger than my car! Now, you couldn't see Shin-san as well, but Die was RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME. Sexy, beautiful, incredible Die...I swear half of us were swooning for him.
Kaoru was the farthest from my group personally, and it seems our Leader-sama is feeling his age; he sat on a stool the whole concert. Toshiya was next, absolute hotness behind that bass of his and head banging in time with Kyo. And of course, then there's Kyo. I can't remember all the names in the set (partially the daze, partially faulty memory) but Clever Sleazoid, The Final, I think Grief, and several others. The part that struck me the most was actually in between one of their sets, when Kyo just...sang....into the mike. It was pure, perfect notes, ranging from high to low, all of them softly caressing us, giving everyone the energy to keep going. It was like he was singing solely for each and every one of us, wrapping fans and general audience alike in a cocoon that took away the sting of his words...It was breathtaking, and something that I know I'll never forget.
After they finished, we all migrated out back, watching in hope for a chance to maybe get an autograph...I left before they did, so I don't know those details (I hate work sometimes) but I loved the fact that Die surprised us all by riding by like any one of the techies...we realized that fact a little late, but that's alright. Kyo's so tiny...but so strong. It was a perfect night, capped by clear skies and a welcoming moon. I hope they'll come back...I do know that I will see them again.

But, to the body of this piece...I'd like some ideas. I'm transferring with hope to the tech school in my hometown, and going as a part-time student/full-time worker. I'd like to finalize plans to create my own cafe in conjunction with a few other businesses back home, but I'm not entirely sure where to start. Of course, there'll be coffees and teas, but I want to specialize in some exotic foods...and most of all, I want to make it a safe and fun place for deviants, DA or otherwise, to meet and enjoy each other's company. So, here's the list of things that I'd like beg off of you all

[ ] Asian recipes from all over the Pacific rim/islands/continent
[ ] Central/South American recipes
[ ] African/Arabic recipes as well
[ ] Suggestions for drink combinations/concoctions
[ ] Suggestions for a motif or logo (I have a few ideas, but outside input is crucial)
[ ] Architecture ideas (This place WILL look different from any other buildings...cookie cutter likenesses scare me...So sending me pics of cool places you've found or seen is a massive plus!)
[ ] Colors/styles/materials best suited, in your opinions

I have a name, but it's open to suggestion: Fly Away Cafe. Now, I'm sure most of you are wondering why I'm asking you these things...well...I want this to be a collaboration of people's styles and ideas, not just my own. Sure, I may never meet some of you, but I'd dearly love to, and so I'd like for this place to be a reflection of everyone's selves...that's what makes it so special. What'd I'd really like to do is to expand it so that way there's one in every major city...a place for Deviants to meet and discuss art, to trade ideas and crafts, to teach one another...and also to better our homes.

Saddest updates....
My little cousin is back in the hospital,
My family's falling apart....
and I can't afford to come back to college.

Right now, the tuition's just gone up so much that my folks and I can't afford it...I'm too depressed at the moment to even think about trying to get scholarships and loans....gods, loans alone are going to be the death of me. I'm afraid of failing this semester, I'm afraid of failing my parents...After all, I'm THEIR hopes and dreams, I'm the one they want to succeed! And all the while, my brothers' brilliance is rotting away when I'm little more than a laborer...*sighs* I'm leaving the college, and I'm going back to Salina...work out my loans, maybe take some business classes...spend the best years of my life working so that my family and friends will stay afloat...Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm off to take a walk...
