So, in case you wonder - I live in Germany, where we start celebrating Christmas on the 24th. Most of us at least.
So I thought I might as well be one of the early people on your devwatch to post their christmas entry. Hopefully that will relieve the strain on your devwatch inbox for the next two days

So - nothing new from me.

I had some kind of christmas picture but either my scanner's broken or my dad messed with it so bad that it now eats 50% of the colors and just tweaks the other ones to it's own personal liking.

Posted it last year, will post it this year too. Have fun!

Step 1.

Make a post in your journal. The post should contain your list of 10 holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple ("I'd love a LJ icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for _____ on DVD") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV.") The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.

If you wish for real-life things, make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa could get in touch with you.

Step 2.

Surf around your friends list (or friends friends, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list. And now here's the important part:

If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use--or even know where you could get someone's dream for free--do it.

You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf--to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not--it's your call.

There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just...wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.

4. Ok, so I already bought Fire Emblem Sacred Stones for GBA XD. Any other GBA RPG (besides Fire Emblem and Zelda Minish Cap) is very welcome though if you happen to have one lying around or so XD
5. Music in General is good, actually, especially classic, acoustic, medieval-ish stuff that does feature oldish instruments and not e-guitar or something.
6. SOCKS. And huge sloganized T-Shirts. xD
7. Art! in any form, anything creative, self-made. Especially when it features my own characters XD
8. Communication. Just... little signs of attention. Mail, Postcards, Letters - Phone Calls, good long talks about the old times - things like that.

So, I got tagged with this Meme where you have to interview your own characters - and I'd love to do it but there's a bit that says one should only take 5 characters for that at the most.

You might know that I have lots more than 5 characters and I absolutely can't decide on my own which ones to take.

I hate my computer mouse so much right now - it's not even a year old but it starts malfunctioning, like clicking 3 times when I click once. That's also the reason for me accidentally deleting some message center items here - I think it was no pictures so far, only favourite/friending messages but STILL. If you want some feedback on something special, or just wait for an answer or anything, please consider that my mouse might have fucked it up and I have forgotten about it because my message center is pretty huge now. I've been procrastinating with cleaning it out - meaning commenting on pictures etc.

Why am I asking something like that?

I've been thinking about switching accounts for a long time now, because I simply have come to hate my old username. It's very long and I don't really like it, never did actually. It was just a spur-of-the-moment decision at the time.

That's reason enough for me, believe it or not. If I didn't dislike my username so much now I'd probably spare you of this.

As some people have mentioned they'd probably miss it - I'll inform my more active watchers via note about my new name when the time has come and I'll put up a journal and deviation so everyone who watches my deviations or journals shouldn't miss the switch.

My old account here will not be deleted! I shall keep most stuff (some really old things might go in storage), maybe re-upload some of the things I like better at my new account as well. We'll see.

The answers given to the question above will not affect my decision should I decide to switch accounts because frankly - if my watchers don't think it's worth a minute to edit a name in their watchlist, then they probably just care enough about being updated and are no loss to me.

Not much to say about this, but YEAH I CAN FINALLY WATCH IT. And I have only 10 or so more episodes to go. Wow.
I love the Anime just as much as I thought I would (for 2-3 years where I wanted to but couldn't watch it. Argh) but it's interesting to see in which ways it differs from the Manga. It DOES differ, but not that much. Interesting. And sometimes confusing.

Gula/Gluttony
So, I have created a new character based on this one of the seven sins. Just yesterday. Why gluttony? Because I think it'd be fun.
Also, notice how no one ever thinks of associating it with themselves? People often attribute Sloth to themselves. Or Wrath or or Pride or Envy. I've seen Lust and Greed too. But no one ever says they can relate to Gluttony, even though I think it's always been one of the most prominent ones and lots of people - ironically - admit to being gluttons. Uh. What. I don't get it, but whatev. I like the character that came from it.
And WHY does everyone think it's just about eating? It's about overindulgence in everything.

Gaming
I've been a gamer since I was about 4 years old. Dearie me. I was very much into it during my childhood, bought my own consoles (my first was a blue game boy classic. I've always wanted one for christmas but my parents said it had such bad graphics. SIGH. ), and the games got me interested in a lot of stuff, believe it or not. Now I don't play games as much as I once did, mostly because I have less time and even more interests now. I miss it sometimes though. And I'll never abandon my beloved Zelda series again <3

Gamete Disease
This has been occupying me and lots of other people. WTF IS THIS?

Ginger
This stuff is so ... interesting. It can taste SO GOOD, but at the same time it can also taste like stuff you use to clean your bathroom with.
Aurelio has dried/candied ginger pieces with him as a kind of sweet.
I love it as a color too.

okay. Is there anyone who shares my opinion about this: people can either grin, or smile. There seems to be no other words to describe something similar. I wish there would be though.
And grinning always seems to be kinda mischievous or cheeky and toothy, while smiling is more... neutral and reserved? Tell me what you think.

Since I have a job for quite some months now and there are other things keeping me off the computer, I have less time to frantically check dA every few minutes and thusly, my message center gets crowded easier and quicker.

I've tried to catch up with it a bit, but also had to delete quite some deviations from it without reacting to it - don't take it personally, I most probably just knew nothing useful to say about it.

So, I pretty much bombed all of my deviation Inbox.

If you're still awaiting some feedback from me on certain submissions, don't be shy to drop me a note saying so - I'll get back to it. Hopefully soon.

Hi there! Another update, not on my Art but Gaming Issues...

apart from the fact I have beaten Twilight Princess now and love it, I wanted to start playing Wind Waker and have experienced problems, so maybe someone of you can help me?

The thing is this: my Wii won't accept my Gamecube Controller.
The game and Memory Card seem to work just fine but the Controller doesn't work.

The Games in Question are Wind Waker and OoT Master Quest, the Memory Card is a Big Ben Interactive one and the Controller in question by the same firm. I've heard other people use that one for their Wii and it works just fine so... I don't know what to do.

Another thing that scared me - the Wii doesn't normally turn OFF totally? Just go in standby mode? Because after I noticed my GC doesn't work I switched the console to standby and came back to try again 20 minutes later the Wii was completely OUT. DEAD. I could only reanimate it by pulling the power plug and replugging it, and everything was just fine again. o_O;

Can anyone help me with that?

At work I dream about drawing all the time and when I get home I mostly just idle around or am too tired to try. Ergh.

I do think though that I'm slowly improving my drawing speed and getting less picky of what I draw.

Since my first contest was quite a fun thing to do for both the participants and myself and a second one was requested... here goes!
This is still in a veryearly planning stage though, so I ask YOU lot to help me with the decision to make this contest fun for you!

So, some things for which I still need your suggestions!

Contest Theme

Do you have any ideas for contest themes?

I already have some ideas but I want to keep them to myself until I've got some suggestions from you, in the end I'll put up a poll to decide it

- Important as well: Is there anything you would NOT want to do in any way?

- Something else that kept floating around in my mind: My first content's rule was that the entries should feature my characters. Do you think that was an okay thing to ask?
I mean sure, this is my personal contest where no one's forced to enter and when I give out prizes why shouldn't I ask for using my characters?
However, I did experience quite some moments where I felt I was coming off as being greedy for giftart :\ and while I LOVE seeing people depict my characters, I don't want to give a greedy impression or force anyone into that.

So what do you think about this? And apart from that - do you think you would RATHER enter this contest if there wasn't a rule about including my characters there?
I won't even be disappointed if you said yes now, I could understand it very well. I just want to know.

I had the greatest Christmas/Birthday/NewYear Week, spent with some dear friends of mine and I'm still full of glee

Step 1.

Make a post in your journal. The post should contain your list of 10 holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple ("I'd love a LJ icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for _____ on DVD") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV.") The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.

If you wish for real-life things, make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa could get in touch with you.

Step 2.

Surf around your friends list (or friends friends, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list. And now here's the important part:

If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use--or even know where you could get someone's dream for free--do it.

You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf--to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not--it's your call.

especially if it's depictions of my characters of course

8. Communication. Just... little signs of attention. Mail, Postcards, Letters - Phone Calls, good long talks about the old times - things like that.
9. I want to achieve something until christmas.
10. I wish for others to be happy too. Even those who don't like christmas.

.Short Bookfair Report.

I went to the bookfair in Frankfurt/Main at 8th of October with Nisi ( *Ni-Si ) and Larissa ( ~konfuse ) as well as the latter one's sister and some of her friends.

The day before I spent my time packing and drawing a little gift for Don Rosa who I was trying to meet at the fair the next day. Here's what I drew for him, a young Scrooge:

I think the picture looks a bit creepy, but probably not TOO bad considering I NEVER ever drew a Duck character before. Maybe I did like...ten years ago but if I really did I wouldn't remember clearly

I hope at least the colors are correct... they were like this in my old album but I heard the transferring of the original details to other versions of the books isn't that well.

The rest of the day me and Larissa watched old Duck Tales cartoons to get into the proper frame of mind for the next day

The next day, the day of the bookfair, Larissa and me met up with her sister and some her friends as well as with Nisi.

At the bookfair I met ~tiara-chan with her cousin and boyfriend as well as ~Tiara-C , ~Tikra , *RikuDragon aaaand ~Firi *_* happiness!

I only met them for a short time though because I had to stand in line for a really long time to get to meet Don Rosa... but actually he was the main reason for my coming, so I didn't have a problem with that.
During the first autograph session I guess I we only got our chance to get an autograph because the session had been extended for 1 1/2 hours I think.

I was pretty happy and excited while waiting... and I was SOMEWHAT calm when it was my turn to step up to him and get an autograph. I first gave him the drawing I made for him and everything was fine but as soon as he asked me whether I drew it myself and when I said yes and he asked me to sign it, it all went downhill with me. I was so shaky I could hardly hold the pen and then I kinda...cracked? Ouch. It was so embarassing to be THAT nervous. I swear I'm normally pretty calm and I don't have any emotional fits in public but THIS did it to me, and no one would have expected it including myself.

(... a friend of mine who has more experience with sessions like this said to me it's not very usual that a fan gives the autographing artist/actor/etc. some kind of 'fan art'. I hope that isn't... looked down upon in any way. I don't really imagine it but one never knows.

I actually didn't think anything about it, I was just like, "hey, why not GIVE him something instead of just wanting something?". Oh... so the new layout is here.

Well, I liked the first one better I think, although the 'moods' feature is quite neat when commenting. I rather have a functioning site though, so I hope that all the starting problems will soon be mended.

Especially the Scraps NOT appearing. Boy was I angry for a few seconds. I saw the Scraps Category missing on the preview to dA v5, but I was quite shocked when I just loaded the new layout page and found out the Scraps... ARE NOT THERE.
As soon as I've read they're going to come back the next days I was relieved again.

AND NOW THE REAL PROBLEM:

I've updated my email adress.

And now I can't comment anymore.
Or look at my activity. Or look at the whole list of my watchers. And probably not do a whole lot of other things.

If I try, a page pops up that tells me to type in my new email adress so they can send me an email to confirm it. I've been sent 5 emails like that in the past 10 minutes.

I got tagged with this thingie by ~Cruzle, and I think by *Dumpysaurus at some earlier point too. I wanted to do this thing badly but kinda forgot so thanks for the kick in the butt aaaand yes that's it.

List 10 things about your art and post it in your journal. Then pick six other deviants to do the same.

Fun Fact # 1
I almost always have trouble deciding on which medium to use. Watercolor, Markers, Color Pencils, Watercolor Pencils, Ink, Gouache, Acrylics or a mix of everything? I love to use all of those for several reasons and this sounds probably like I'd be best off MIXING all of those, but I don't usually, in fear of ruining the picture.

Fun Fact # 2
One of my biggest artistic goals is to develop a semi-realistic style that still keeps a comic-ish look in one way or another. Meaning, not ENTIRELY realistic.
Like those for example: =what-i-do-is-secret *tracyjb ~leelakin =subeo =GunnerRomantic =kittehness ~xaotl and *Artgerm And many more.
(my topmost favourite or "oh that's what I always dreamed of drawing like" would be :devwhat-i-do-is-secret)

I love realistic stuff, but that little but of comic-style left in those styles make it more interesting. The things that remain kinda simplified make it easier to emphasize certain characterstics and expressions and stand out more than in a completely realistic pic.
Or something. It leaves a little creative room. Like those Disney styles for example. They're kinda realistic but still exaggerated, some more, some less.

Sometimes inbetween I really fall in love with those simplified shapes and forms of other styles though, especially the Manga-inspired ones (like those of *kyrn ~Tiara-C *sashamya *stressedjenny *Dumpysaurus *lone-momo ).

Fun Fact # 3
I think my drawing style doesn't really develop but just change, not necessarily to the better.

There was a time when my drawings looked weirder than they do now. Especially the women, they looked like transvestites 8[ so I started drawing girls and girls and more girls and now I'm afraid I don't really know how to draw a guy. That's why you see so little of my guy characters lately, especially Aurelio xD (I'm afraid of ruining him on the pictures ;_; )

I probably sound like an ass when I say this (although I can't see why, it's just a feeling), but.... my creativity never stops. Really. I have tons of ideas what I want to draw all the time, but my productivity just never can keep up T_T

- Never in my life I was as exhausted as I was on Friday. Oh my God.

- I'm gonna visit a movie themepark on Saturday!

I managed to face one of my biggest fears - swimming in a river D: OMG.
Although I LOVE swimming and am pretty good swimmer too, I'm really really afraid of deep water and the stuff in it. ESPECIALLY when I can't see what's in it, and especially when I know that there HAS to be stuff in it... like in a river.
I sometimes even get a little scared swimming in a big swimming pool and looking at the big, dark blue T-marks on the ground. T_T; SO IRRATIONAL and ILLOGICAL D:

And the river I was in... is full of catfish. Mind you... european ones, which are the most disgusting catfish there are ;;

And I crossed the river with a big ship approaching, wheeeee 8D;;; I'm such a mindless fuckhead lol.

It was scary and exciting and I want to go swimming there AGAIN XD Soon. And I'll still be scared @_@

This isn't a "OMFG ART BLOCK ME SADS!!11 D:" whine entry but...

Well. My ability to draw something properly has stagnated over the past two weeks.
So no starting on new pics or finishing those which are important to me. D: That's my only whine.
I didn't stop to draw at all though. I just try other things to do art, like the following:

Draw and Color Chibis
They will be uploaded in batches of three as deviations and later scrapped. Part 1-3 are already up and 1 + 2 already scrapped.

Pixelart!
It's ADDICTIVE. O_0 I didn't ever expect that I could pixel something acceptable because I love details so much and want everything to be perfect (doesn't show when I DRAW though, huh? XD ). I don't know yet whether I should upload them as deviations but probably not.

There are one or two things lying around here that still aren't scanned or don't have a background but are finished otherwise.

Those will be depressing pages in my sketchbook but I guess better try and grasp the small chance of a good drawing moment arising than doing nothing.

SILENT HILL! I've been looking forward to this for years! Even though I didn't even know they made a SH movie until a year ago or so. But... SILENT HILL! I first was afraid the movie would be a disappointing but since so many fans said it was good... let's see.

o_0 Last night was the second time I had a dream involving a deviant I don't know or even care much about. I do know her because she's pretty popular but that's pretty much all I know.

In that dream a commented on one of her artworks (which for some reason didn't even look like hers). I don't know in which fashion I commented exactly, but knowing me it was a simple normal comment by me roughly on the lines of "this is really good, I like this and that, but I suggest this and that for this area, I personally think it would make the mood more intense, but that's just me."

Well, turns out that person didn't like my comment and flamed me in return and even sent me mail... like physical mail, a little package arrived at my house and inside was a book, on the cover and first pages, the artist I commented wrote some insults for me in sharpie marker XD; Creative way to insult someone, really, almost cute. On the next pages of the book were some really cool sketches though. Among them one of Fred and George Weasley (lol?), who are some of the fav characters of mine in the Harry Potter books. I can't say I occupy myself that much with Harry Potter books at the moment, nor with it's characters o_0. Anyways, more sketches and doodles in the book followed, as well as notes that meant nothing to me but looked like they were very old and written by a little kid. It seemed like the whole book was a little treasure full of sketches and memories.

Why would someone send me something like THAT to insult me or to take revenge on me?

WEIRD! PLAIN WEIRD!
Why do I dream about people who I barely know (ony because she's so popular)? Who don't really interest me or seem special to me? I've never thought a lot about this person, but especially nothing bad.
Still, my subconscious made her a whiny childish bitch in my dream. In waking life, when I think about her I assume she's a really nice person. So WHY? O_O;

Please don't ask me which deviant it was about, I still remember but I think it's not necessary that anyone knows the individual. I'd feel awkward if by any chance this person would find out I dreamt about her in such a bad fashion.

I also dreamt some weird stuff about going shopping somewhere with a friend (and some other person who I'd like to call inanimate, uninvited appendix) and her huge dog. We never take one of her dogs somewhere, but especially not the huge one O_0. Well, we went shopping and to get to this shop (which was underground) we needed to use a high-speed elevator/tube thing. In order to keep the dog calm so he won't break out... we needed to remove his HEAD. Or I needed to. For some reason I was the one who had the dog on his leash but... well. I grabbed his collar and twisted it, and his head came off and his eyes... sunk into the head. So now we could take a ride on this tube-thing and when we arrived there, I needed to attach the leash to the dog's collar but instead wanted to attach the spring hook to his CLOSED EYES. EEEEWW. Only then I noticed I had to attach it to his collar and I connected his head with his body again and he was all fine and alive again @__@
I think that dream was even weirder.

wow. I watched lots of Disney movies lately, mostly because of two of my friends, who like the movies so much.
We watched Brother Bear, Tarzan, the Hunchback of Notre Dame, Ariel, Fantasia and Fantasia 2000.
And Watership Down.
I like Tarzan mucho. And the Hunchback of Notre Dame. Mostly because of ... well, Tarzan and the Gypsies. And because Phoebus is pretty darn cool.

and ARIEL! I've watched this movie so often when I was 5 or so and I LOVE mermaids. And Ariel's song.

I registered with Paypal, finally.

I've started it again. I'm searching for a voice for Aurelio. I don't even know WHY I do it. It seems senseless to me since he'll never actually need a voice that people can hear (since he's not part of an animation or something, and he'll never be).
He's just a person living in my head and sometimes popping up on pics I draw. @_@ I guess it's just another way of visualizing him.

1. When drinking tea or coffee from a cup, I'll always leave some of it inside without drinking it. I don't know why myself, I don't do it on purpose though.

2. Sometimes I'm easily distracted, sometimes I can concentrate so hard that you could plaster me with post-it's with silly notes on them, without me noticing it.

3. I like to occupy myself with astrology/mythology/theology/supernatural stuff, although I don't believe in any of it. I find it very very interesting and inspiring though.

4. I close my left ear when flushing the toilet at home.

5. I often enter a room, freeze and stare and then leave the room again. My family doesn't mind anymore because they know I probably once again thought of something I wanted to do/get in this room but forgot what it was by the time I entered!

I've downloaded and installed tons of Firefox extensions, one of them enabling me to set the critique preferences for my Gallery easily. I've fiddled around with it and discouraged critiques on my older pics, photos and ID's.
Mostly because those are there just for fun, because I know they are crappy and because I don't want to waste the time of those few precious people who actually DO write useful critiques!

On some pics, especially newer ones though, I've set the critique level to "Advanced". That doesn't mean you shouldn't say anything if you don't have anything to criticise, it just means that you can go apeshit on it and tear it apart and I'll probably love you for it

I've decided on a topic for my contest and it's gonna be:

Fairytales!

That's right! Choose any Fairytale (or alternatively Myth/Legend/Saga) and draw a pic to it!

There's just one single twist to it:
Let (at least) one of my characters star in it!

That's all. Other than that, you're free to do whatever you want!

- you can add any other characters too - your own for example

- if you don't like traditional fairytales/Myths/Legends/Sagas - just warp the story and setting to your liking! Modernize, abstract, twist and bend, or even come up with your own mythical story, whatever you like!
Or just stay true to the actual story, with a different cast of characters, that's fine too.

Entries:

- Only 1 entry per person please.
- If you want to draw several pics, that's swell, but I'll only judge one!

Deadline:

Deadline is July 22th.
If you need extension, tell me at least one week beforehand please, but I believe this should be plenty of time!

At her hometown she was considered too daring by her clan - they lived were secluded.

So yeah, I think she's pretty, although she might not be a Beauty Queen.

Laidback. Generally she keeps cool. What makes her lose control over herself is curiousity or being challenged.

2) Does your character ever get depressed?
Rarely ever.

3) Leader or Follower?
Leader. Definitely. She hates being told what to do and likes to take charge.

4)What is the main aspect of his/her personality?
Inquisitive, carefree (read that as careless if you like), fun-loving.

History:
1) Does your OC have a family of any sort?
Yes: her parents, grandpa and sister called Sheila, who looks very similar to her. They're all alive and fine and have close family bonds.

2) Is your character out on his/her own?
Very much so, until she meets a group of other halflings.

3) Has he/she encountered any traumatizing events?
Nothing traumatizing per se.
She has been viewed as being odd and a troublemaker but never thought much of it. She was punished for something she is unguilty og, although the punishment wasn't something too hard and her loved one, Kuya suddenly disappeared. Unpleasant things, but nothing traumatizing.

4) What was probably the best time in his/her life so far?
the time with Kuya, and the present.

Romance:
1) Single?
Kinda - since her loved one just disappeared and she doesn't know where he is and what he does.

2) Has your OC developed any romantic relationships?
Well, the one with Kuya.

3) Virgin?
Most probably not.

4) Does your character like flirting?
Yes! She feels she belongs to Kuya still though - so she doesn't really flirt at present.

I don't know a topic yet, but I think it would be a fun idea

What I already know is:
- any medium would be allowed
- it would not mainly be judged on skill, but also on ideas, so everyone has a chance!
- you would have lots of time. A few months at least xD
- there would be one to three prizes! Depending on how many people enter.

I think it would be neat to buy stuff internationally without much fuss of a money-order or something else, since I don't have a credit card.
Also, if I should ever start doing commissions, PayPal would be splendid to have as well.

I'm still kinda reluctant to register though, as I don't really get what they CAN do and what they CAN'T.
I've read some horror stories of them practically ripping you off but then again that could just be people making bad jokes or just being plain stupid either :\

So I want to ask any of you who has experience with PayPal:

- What do you think about PayPal?
- Are they reliable?
- Have you experienced Problems?
- Can they just get access to your normal bank account and draw cash from it? Or do they only have access to the money you loaded to your Paypal account?
