Hey Everyone,

Just to keep you all updated, I've finished 2 pages of the first issue of my comic book project. 1 of 2 is already in the hands of my inker, Gary, and the other will be sent over by the 28th. This has been a way better experience the 2nd time around. This time, I actually have help! My writing partners are going crazy right now with story ideas and just connecting with my characters overall. It's great to read a story on my peeps that I haven't wrote myself! The best part is, the characters are sounding like themselves. I'll keep everyone updated as much as possible and will start posting stuff when it gets closer to completion!

Scott

P.S. Also, check out my inker, Gary Yap's page:

[link]

Hey Peeps,

Looks like I'm starting on my own comic book project. I created most of these characters when I was 13yrs old and have been drawing and updating them as the years have gone by. I drew out the first issue of my team book around 3 years ago, but after I was finished, didn't like the story. I felt it to be very generic, with a few original things here and there. Starting from scratch! I'm looking for a good colorist and letterer as well. My inker is lined up, as well as help with the writing. Thank goodness for friends, right? I'm hoping to shop it around after it's all said and done. Hopefully get this thing printed Anyone know a colorist and/or letterer, shoot them my way!

Scott

I've been drawing a ton of Batman related stuff lately, probably due to me catching up on 7-8 months worth of Batman related books! I had moved a year ago and had still been picking up my books, but not reading anything. I'll go through the titles one at a time and just get around a whole years worth of reading done. A bit bummed Billy Tan took over on Batman & Robin, only because Quietly's style just goes with that title perfectly. Tan is a very capable artist and I do like his work, but just not for this book right now. Eh, just rambling now...

SL

Hello Everyone and Anyone,

At this years SDCC I concentrated on picking up some sketches from some of my favorite artists, as well as attending some panels which I normally don't do. I had probably the greatest time that I ever had at the Con because of it!

Commission/sketches I had done:

I had Humberto Ramos draw 2 of my characters, even sneakily recording the first one on my iPhone. Watching him draw my character was one of the best feelings, like a sense of accomplishment. Even though I've accomplished nothing in the comic world, it still was very rewarding. I'd say for who he is, he's probably the best deal at the con for what he charges: $40 for a upperbody drawing.

I even managed to get Leinil Yu to draw 1 of my characters, as his very last commission for this years con. He's getting so big that I don't think he'll be doing commissions for very much longer. J. Scott Campbell isn't really doing them unless it's a smaller convention. If he has a large flow of buyers picking up his sketchbooks & chitchatting at him, forget about it. Leinil's $100 price tag for the upper body drawing he did for me was well worth it, and probably my prized piece for this years con. I couldn't stop staring at it whenever I took a break and even when I got home. It was just so well done that it deserved my attention.

Both of these artists were very friendly and down to earth, making the whole experience that much better. I'll be posting the video of Humberto drawing on YouTube when I can, and will make sure to post up a link here. I'll also make sure to post up Leinil's drawing as soon as I get it scanned in.

Didn't look like there was room for another person anyway.

I did enjoy checking out everything though and even got to meet Scott Williams, which was a huge treat for me. I picked up his sketchbook and talked with him briefly about being at the con. This was his first time getting a table in artist alley and I think he said he'd being doing it more often. I asked him if he had a Deviantart page and he said he was going to be putting one together really soon since a few friends told him that was the place to be. I told him that he was one of the best inkers I've ever seen and he put his stuff down and shook my hand. He seemed sincerely appreciative of my words, which was a shock to me. I'd thought it would have been something he heard every day of his life. He is my all time favorite inker and was one of the nicest people I've had the good graces to meet in person. haha, I'll admit I did ask him if he does inking commissions. I would totally have paid what he wanted to ink a piece of my work, but unfortunately he's contractually obligated to DC Comics.

Also, I met J. Scott Campbell but couldn't really have a conversation with him since there was a line of people behind me. He was very cool as well and is one of my influences and was happy to meet him. I think I marked out to more to Williams though, to be honest

What a great movie! By Saturday I had already seen it twice. That's how good it was! Heath Ledger gave the performance of his life... Oh... too soon with the dead jokes, I think. Anyway, it is a must see for anyone. The story had a constant flow and never slowed down. It was the most well done movie involving two major villans, with both getting a great amount of screen time. They even fixed the problem I had with the first one, which was terrible, hard to see fight scenes. These fights seems were really well done and being able to actually see them was great! My one and only complaint? Christian Bale's Batman voice. Just like the first, it was so forced and unnatural sounding that every time he talked as Batman, I was cringing. I can't say if it got better or worse from the first movie.

Back to the Joker character; Ledger's method for studying the character was insane! From what I heard, he locked himself away for like a month and studied joker stories over and over. During the shooting of the film he deprived himself of sleep, only getting around 1 1/2 to 2 hours a night. Its terrible that we'll never get to see him again.

Two Face was also a pleasant surprise! I thought they were just gonna touch on him more towards the end and save him for the next movie.

I give it a 9 out of 10! It would have gotten a 10 if it wasn't for the voice thing. For anyone who hasn't seen it, see it and see it quick!
