It's been over a year since my last journal post!

Well, last year I got a horse that was mine mine mine. Ha. Not my family's. Mine.

I also went to college in Kentucky and took Kahlua (my mare) with me.
Learned a lot of things both in and out of class.
About people. And horse people.
And about how you HAVE to do you homework regarding your boarding options, training options, HAY options and everything else related to your horse.

I moved home to take this semester off due to tuition costs but start up again in the springtime.
My mare is staying on my family's acreage, pasture boarded.
This winter I will pick out my hay supplier. I will pick out EACH roundbale I provide. I will hand select EACH orchard grass/timothy square bale I purchase (just for treats and particularly cold days).

I'm doing my homework this time around because I got screwed over with my boarding barn (even though I've seen my fair share of them and worked at two). I got screwed over on my winter hay supply, but I worked it out.

Also, due to moving my mare several times, and having next to no consistency, AND a riding accident in the spring that shook my nerves, I'm starting to do my homework on who I want to send her to to have her broken in. Ideally, I want to send her off for 60 days to a local trainer. I'd like to do this for December and January, or January and February, so I have her inside and being worked in the winter and being stuffed full of top quality hay. Most place I've looked at have EXCELLENT hay, free choice in the stall and in the field, and a very nice light graining schedule. I'd like my mare to be able to eat all the good hay she wants while she's in training, and especially in the winter. At the end of 60 days, if the price is right and she's doing well, I'd also like to tack on another 30 days before I bring her home. I'm interested in winter training so I have the spring and summer to work with her at home.

So, that's it right now. Getting ready to put her through consistent training very soon. Other than that, it's just life at the barn. Feeding, lungeing, trimming, grooming, cleaning and riding.

It's exciting.

She came off the trailer hot, but after about an hour she relaxed and we turned her out in the small grass pasture. She's out there for tonight.

I have to head over there tomorrow morning to see Teresa off. She's gonna pick up Liberty (traveled with Kahlua and spending the night with her) and the trailer and show me a few things she uses with Kahlua as far as maneuvers go. She's into the Parelli program and has offered to let me watch the first two sets. Anything beyond the she thinks is a little unnecessary.

I'll mess with her a little bit tomorrow. She'll be in the small pasture again tomorrow night. Monday night she'll be turned out with the other horses.

Photos soon!

I sit here in Muncie, bored out of my mind.
I freeze my ass off every time I go to class.
And yet, through all the ridiculous stuff I end up putting up with, however grey and ugly Muncie looks sometimes, I've taken notes (quite literally, written them out on post-it notes) on the lovely things I see.
Because I don't have my damn camera up here.

I haven't taken any photos since ..um..maybe November..potentially October. I don't even remember the last time I held my camera.
*cries in despair*

I'm going home on Wednesday for a break.
I'm returning with that camera.
If it were human, I would probably make love to it.
But seeing as it isn't, I shall refrain.

I also discovered quite the delectible treat that is "the scanner". Bracken Library has scanners that could easily scan 10 photos at a time. I do believe I'm going to become a library loiterer.

But, point is: camera comes with me, and I'm scanning photos at the library whenever I take them.

I'm stubborn and refuse to go digital.

THumb Central is going well. Has at least seven people in it each time I go. I'm member of the week! Yay!

I've made new friends there and met some really cool people. Elasbajolamanga and domkantthink are now OP-Supervisors. Zie-chan rides horses, or did, and is really cool..along with her boyfriend Shokuharu. Yay. Friends *zombie eyes* Highkick49 has some awesome photography. Cool people in ThumbCentral. I suggest you join. Or else.

School starts on Monday. Just now finished the PTC Grobanites for Charity stuff. Sending it out on Sunday or Monday. I need to memorize the physical features of the European Map, find the 20 main cities of the 15th century and make a large map of current Europe. *sigh*

Anyway..I have a new account for equine artists, so I can have all of the equine art I can find in a database sort of thing. It's for other equine artists to use as well. Contests. Chat room. That sorta stuff. I have a spot for photography, poetry and traditional art. Anything else, I'll make a spot for it too.

Yeah..I like comments and notes *grins*
Just thought you should know..
This Jark stuff is getting out of control. I thought dA was an art community. No, I don't feel that what happened was right, but I also have no business in it, considering I don't know the guy. I love him for creating this place, but there isn't much I can do. I support him and on August 7th, I won't add any new submissions, but that's all I can do. I want to enjoy this place and the artwork here. There. I've said my piece.

Ok, so I went to summer gym today, thinking it would be another boring day. Well..we played capture the flag and the girls got all the boys out, except the teacher, and for almost twenty minutes ti was us versus him. We won, but just barely. Goodness. Makes me feel ashamed. lol.
Then we sat down to what I thought would be a normal talk/lecture/"c'mon guys, put in some effort" thing. So he pulls up Ryan and says "Hold my waist from behind." Everyone makes a funny tittering noise because it was a slightly awkward position. Then, the teacher showed us how to flip people over if you are ever attacked. He showed us how to free ourselves if we are held by the hands, the arms, the waist, the throat, the face and with your arms pinned. He also showed us how to flip people over on their back. Last thing he did was tell us girls to use our high heels [if we happened to be wearing them at the time] and apply pressure through the heel on the assailant's foot, or groin. And, carry our car keys with the key we're going to use to open the car [all scenarios took place in a parking lot] between our index and middle finger, tip upwards. Then, when you have a hand free, gouge their eyes out. lol. So we learned self defense and we practice more on Monday. How fun.

*sigh* I'm doing commissioned photography. If anyone for some odd reason wants a specific photo, let me know, lol. But really, for a neighbor, I'm taking pictures of her horses and her daughter. If they are what she's looking for, they may be her daughter's senior pictures, and she'd pay me the same amount she would have paid the man from the photography studio. Muahahahaha. I get to work on that on Sunday as well as go riding.

I have digital pictures of Honey, Blackie, Chopper and Luna in scraps. Leaving them their. They were digitals, so not very good. Anyway...

I've got to email my aunt the final design for the apron and jacket. Yeah..I should probably finish that tomorrow. I've got four napkins, a logo on the apron, a logo on the jacket and a table cloth. I think that's it...for now. All I need is for "Cruisin" to send me the blankets and the other aprons.* le sigh*

Going riding on Sunday. Yay. And I now have $30 for my saddle fund. lol. If anyone would like to donate to my saddle fund, let me know. Hehe. It's a hundred dollar saddle with stirrups, leathers, girth and saddle pad. Good deal, and I've seen it too. Just lightly scratched, nothing wrong with it.

That's it for now. Tata.
I finished Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince yesterday. I had my suspicion of who the Half-Blood Prince was the whole time. Oh my goodness..in the end, I cried. Aw man, am I a wuss or what? I knew it would happen. It was inevitable and you could see the signs throughout the book. J.K Rowling can lead you straight to the answer and then make you think "No..it's not possible." but then it happens and even if you've been lead right up to it, some character's just seem too strong for it to happen. Between Sirius "dissappearing" in the last book [I refuse to believe he's dead. I think he just left beyond the veil for..a bit *gets choked up*] and the newest..*cry* occurence in this one..I think I may bawl when the final book is read.

On to happier things..sort of. I scanned and put up new pictures, but viewed them on my dad's screen, which is a 19" screen, ad saw that some looked a bit grainy. I shall soften them up a bit tomorrow. Going riding tonight. I was going to go this morning, but I forgot to get up, so I have to wait for it to cool off. *sigh*

Anyway, didn't give away any HP spoilers I don't think. I'm so sad right now...how could it have happened??? I'm gonna kill Josh. He's in my summer gym and mentioned this and I told him if it was true and he spoiled the book, I'd kill him. I shall call him and warn him to make funeral arrangments, because come Monday...*smash*

Ok...so we started summer PE last Monday, on July 11th, 2005. The week from Hell..I swear! OMG..it took forever! It starts at 8AM and goes through noon. We ran our mile on Friday. I stunk. It took me 13:56 min/sec to run my mile. Lol. I can't run. We're going bowling and golfing and maybe horseback riding on a trail ride if I can get the woman from Shilo Farms to call me back.
Yeah, so Valerie and Kelly are there. That's all good. Olivia, the girl who ditched me a week before the Josh Groban concert to go with someone who had third row tickets is there. Not so good. She's all buddy buddy with everyone and offered to teach Tae Bo to the class one day. I'd rather to yoga. Much more relaxing.
Or Pilates, since I've done that before. Or belly dancing..or maybe banging my head on a brick wall....

Anyway, the Grobanite Charity was moved to September. I have everything ready and on this upcoming Friday I'm starting on it,and I'm going to have it all finished and sent out [hopefully] by Sunday.

Took out a few more shots from my gallery and deleted a few. Cleaned my room today and got stuff to put in the yard sale. I'm hoping to have at LEAST $50 and HOPEFULLY $100 because I have a lot of stuff and some really NICE stuff, like unused clothes and brand new jeans that I just don't like. I have a woman online who I've talked to for a year or so and she has an english saddle with stirrups, leathers, girth and saddle pad. She said she's sell it to me for $100 plus shipping. Very nice. We decided to do it over Ebay and she sells tack on there already. She has good responses from her previous sales. If it doesn't work out or it isn't what I expected, I'll sell it over Ebay again or put it in the autumn yard sale.

I added some titles to my deviations, with some descriptions too. After about ten of them, I got bored, so I'll do more when I have the time and the patience.

I'd really love some helpful critiques. They really do help if you get any. *HINT HINT*

My friend Valerie is continueing her riding lessons, each day getting better and better than me in the saddle. I still stand firm with the fact that she couldn't muck out a stuck if her life depended on it. I dunno. She said the horses she rides are testy and belligerant [actually, she said tempermental, but belligerant sounds better.] , but also says they do anything you ask when you ask. I thought a tempermental horse was one who acted up, but maybe not. I have doubts about her out-of-the-arena riding abilities. She hasn't ridden out of the arena in four years and only goes on head to tail trail rides. I rode Chopper out in Iriquoise Park last week and we went up stairs, over fences, over logs, under broken trees, up rocky inclines, over hills, through water, down hills, across roads, down the street and into the forest. Chopper handled himself well. He's a bit skittery, but he has a lot of trust in me I think. He'll stand there for a minute as if to say "Must I?" but if I ask him again calmly, he'll do what I ask. My aunt took Honey and the filly too. She had her two other friends ride with us as well. Jan and Mandy think. Jan has two Quarter Horses. She has Moolah, a bay Quarter Horse stallion, full brother to Honey, and Silver Dollar, half sister to Honey [she's dapple grey]. It was fun. When we were done, I rode Silver Dollar in the round pen they have in the park. [they stable the Louisville Metro Mounted Police horses there.] and rode Moolah in the big arena over a few small jumps. We got to see the mounted patrol's horses. That was pretty cool. There is also a course you can go on, used for training the mounted patrol's horses. Honey and Chopper when over it without hesitation. Jan's horses weren't so cooperative. I now have a grinning pride in Honey and Chopper. They really do put trust in their riders.

I didn't get to ride today. It was humid and hot outside, so I just groomed the horses, gave them a quick rub down to cool them off and turned on the air unit in the barn. The seemed very relieved.

Sorry for such a long journal entry. The only person who'll probably read this is Kanina, but that's ok. I wuv Kanina and I haven't seen her online in a while. Haven't been able to catch up on anything.

Finally finished HALF of my Euro History summer assignment. Got my Harry Potter book. Re-reading the fifth book because I forgot some details in it.

Kanina, leave updates on Obby on your journal or something. I'll check dA more often to get the updates. I haven't typed up the history yet because I'm still tweaking it. I'll put it as a scrap poem when I'm done.

I have beach pictures and Friesian pictures to put up. That'll be Wednesday's project since Valerie goes home on Wednesday. She stays all week and we go to gym together. Be on soon. *hugs to all*
I got the pics of the Friesian stallion back today. Bad thing happened though..since they have a sand arena..I got ONE grain of sand in my hinge on the camera, and it opened the tiniest bit, and made a "fire line" on the edge. I was soo mad. Anyway, I've found a way to correct that a bit on my computer. Cropping helps also. I'll put all of those on here soon in scraps and slowly choose which ones go into the gallery.
Anyway, I'm happy. I got on the computer twice today for about 10 minutes each. I haven't been on in forever.

I went to Valerie's riding lesson today. Second time she rode the Friesian stallion Loki. I really wish I could tsart up my lessons again. I'm saving up for a saddle though. All the ones I have available for use SUCK, and other people use them, so I'm going to get my own. Other people don't oil the saddles they use, so I do and I hate doing it..so i'll get my own.
I'm looking for either an all-purpose or close-contact saddle. Really, if it's not outrageously expensive, I don't care what it is, as long as it fits both me and the horses I ride. I put my fat but in a 16 or 17 saddle..doesn't matter. Anyway..
I get photos back tomorrow..so I'll be scanning them, otherwise I have to watch the crazy kids we babysit.
I got up at 5:30 this morning to type out some poems and print them. I do it every year..or..have..since seventh grade. Oh, and anyway, I print them and they are pretty inspirational little pieces and I give them to the teachers anonymously with "your class of [insert school year here]
Yeah..I leave them on their desk with a nifty little poem on the back saying when times are tough and you can't face the next round of students, remember us, your favorite ones. muaha. Yeah..anyway..moving on..
Half day today. I took my photos to be developed yesterday, I'll have more on Monday or Tuesday for you all. And I'm finally weeding out my stuff..yay.
SO anyway..yet again I use that phrase..it's 6:49 and I'm off to school. Tata.

Okie dokie..so I had a few people send me notes and some people I know saying "Oh deviantART is the cream of the crop..blah blah blah..you have too much shtuff..blah blah blah..weed out shtuff..blah blah blah."
Yeah..so I looked through it with a closed mind, thinking "Too many photos..no *gasp*"
But, alas, I do. I find it painful to condem anything to Scraps or to rid my account of it. I decided to get rid of any horrible ones and move the rest that aren't spectacular to the scraps. Currently, I'll put all of the ones that haven't been selected as a favourite at least once into the scraps. If it's nto too much to ask, glance through some of them [either a specific series, or just some you'd like to look through, or just random ones] and leave comments on them as to whether they are good, bad or okay. Then say if it should be moved to the main album, or stay in scraps. I'll do my best to weed out what I don't think is great, but I really love all my photos. A lot are repeats though..*le sigh*

Anyway, that's it. Ten more days of school. *le sigh aussi*

Yay! Derby Day is almost here! WOOT WOOT!

Let's see..tomorrow, I'm going to see the horses and finish my research project [we have the day off from school for the Oaks aka Lillies for the Fillies. Isn't that awesome?!] So anyway, finish photo research project, then get my portfolia photos blown up to 8x10s and put them uin the portfolio. We're going to the Drive-In theater to see Sahara and buy our tickets for when Star Wars ciomes to the drive-in. We're going for Valerie's birthday [Valerie is my model in most of my pictures.]
Then I'm having a Groban-Fest and watching all my Groban DVDs and Videos. I'm gonna rearrange my pictures and shtuff. yayness.
I took down my photos in my room and exchanged them for new photos. Refreshing for Derby Day. Have all horse pictures up. *grin* Yeah..then we're driving past the Highlands in Louisville to see if we can sneek in the Barnstable Brown party..lol..yeah right. Josh'll be there *beams*

On Saturday, I'm going to a Derby Party at noon. Gonna watch the Derby and shtuff and swim..etc. Eat..etc. Take party photos..etc. Hehe. Then I'll go home and see if I can go to the stables again. If not..I'll check TiVo and see if Josh was on any of the channels showing the Derby. Wootness. Make a few bucks on the ponies.
In the morning, I may go to Valerie's riding lessons and take photos. Actually..no..wait. I'll try to go later in the season. If I'm bored, I may go..but I just realized I can't go until November. I have a reason *smirk*

Anyway..I'll be taking pictures and riding this weekend. I'm looking into starting up riding lessons in the fall. Yay. Hmm..I do believe I will. Anyway, I'm riding Tippy tomorrow for a quick bit. She's not old enough to ride regularly yet, but I have her used to the English saddle and she's so used to me leanign on her I've been on several times. We used the lunge equipment to train her rein aids. Leg aids..wellllll..she'll get there. We're working on that. I'm just getting her used to the close contact and direct rein signals. *shrugs* I got new boots. That's always good.
If you bother to read this, leave a comment on which of my photos are the stupidest/worst/crappiest so I can start to remove a few. I don't wanna load dA down with crap. *sigh* I'm thinking of getting a subscription since I'm using them to show off so much of my photography. *shrugs* I dunno.

Also..if you have a name for our lovely little filly, leave me a comment. She has a crescent moon on her forehead, a snip on her nose, she's golden in color, inquisitive, independant, it stormed the night she was born, she was born in March and he mother's name is Honey. You can sue that if you need it to make a name. *shrugs*

Boo!

Hey..first random journal entry. Last time I wrote in my other journal was after Josh's birthday. So......
I’ll make a list and then cover the details

1) Josh Concert
a) Meet and Greet
b) Concert
2) Vacation
3) Theatre Play
4) Filly and a Job

Alright, I’ll go in the reverse order since that’ll be the easiest way for me. Shortest story to longest..

Filly: On Wednesday, the 30th or March, Honey had her last filly. We’ve bred Honey several times before. Once she had a bay colt who was bought before Honey was even bred; another time it was a chestnut colt who looked more golden than red, but still chestnut all the same, and he was named Bit O’ Honey by his owner, our neighbor; another time with a chestnut (I’m talking fiery red chestnut) colt who was a trade for this next foal. We bred Honey to a chestnut stallion who produces Palominos and Chestnuts and the colors in between red and gold. The man said if we gave him the first foal, we could bred Honey to the stallion again the next year and keep the second foal free of charge and he’d even throw in the foal’s first vet bill for the second foal. He covered all the vet cost while Honey was pregnant because Honey has always thrown large, agile, quick, b-e-a-u-t-i-f-u-l foals. Well, last year, we halter trained the chestnut colt and trained him to come to his name and respond to “walk on”, “whoa” and “slow down” while walking him. This year, I work at the man’s stables and I’ve taught Red (the colt’s stable name) to lunge and he’s a dream to work with. I was really upset that we had to give him up, but it was all right because Honey was pregnant this winter with the next foal. I’m off of work until summer starts, because I have so much going on and I’ve worked all winter at the barn when I can (sort of a weekend and after school job), Mr. Landers said I can start with Spring vacation and take the next month off because it’s an unofficial job. He pays me and I come in on a regular basis, but the job is always different and if I can’t come in, he’s fine with that. I work the hours I need/want and when I need/want to leave, he just pays me for the hours I put in. He runs his stable that way, and surprisingly, his “employees” come in more often than those of the stable across town that are required to come in. I love the job..lol..I’ve gone off topic.
So anyway, I work with Red and I figure if I keep this job, I’ll be the one to saddle break him and help Mr. Lander’s train him. I’m not a professional rider, but I’ve always been around horses and I’ve been riding since I was young, and I watched the saddle breaking process and helped when we do lungeing patterns during the process we use. I’ve never gone through the entire process as the person who does the training (called breaking, but really not as harsh as it sounds. We use a gradual process.) so Mr. Landers said if I’m still around in two years, he’d be glad to have me break Red. Yay! (Kinda scary though..I dunno if I’ll be up to it. Hehe)
So, I like Red and I really had wanted to keep him, but I knew a trade is a trade. SO now I have a job and we were getting a foal. On Wednesday, I went to the barn to check on Honey (she’s at Aunt Karen’s) and suddenly, she starts to bed down and lies down. We called Aunt Karen and waited for a few hours while Honey had the foal and the foal got her bearings straight. We took a few photos (I’ll have ‘em up soon) and watched the filly to make sure she’d be all right. She doesn’t have a name yet *shrugs* so we’re thinking of one. I went to see her on Thursday, Friday and Saturday for an hour each day to see here and watch her with Honey. Then on Sunday we spent the day there and I groomed her a bit and walked around with her. I lunged Honey in the field a bit and the filly, of course, followed. She’s a lovely little foal. I gotta find a name! Lol.
My aunt is on vacation for a week, starting today, so since we can’t go every day, Sue will feed the horses and let them in and out daily. Tomorrow and Sunday, I’m going to go groom Honey and lunge her. I also want to groom the filly and work on imprinting. My Aunt let me do the secondary imprinting when we were there the first night. It’s really wonderful to have the filly walk up to me, sniff me and know who I am. Without being scared, she’ll sniff when I come in the barn and strut over to sidle with me like she does with her mom. I guess I’m part of her “herd”. *grins proudly*

So..next topic! Theatre Play….

In Theatre, we have a script that we have to perform. I wrote a monologue once and performed it. it was kinda powerful, because even the class clown approached me saying it was really well written and he hadn’t been able to laugh during it. I liked that. Well..after that.....
