Finally, a short break from College to check on the Deviants!

Lots of awesome new drawings from old faces and newcomers.

I'm enrolled in a part-time drawing class ... for up to March, we're supposed to just look a lot of other people's works and grasp basic concepts: depth, shade, anatomy, lighting, perspective ...

I hope by July I might have something decent to post, if all goes well.

(Many thanks to all people who have come here and/or wrote something! Thanks a bunch, everyone! I'm sorry I haven't been able to keep in touch or answer some replies ... things snowball when you're halfway through College.)

At least, for a little while ... that means, I'll have twice or thrice as many tabs opened in Mozilla when I finally get back.
Computers, I pity them ... LOL

At the time of this entry, DeviantArt is only 150,000 deviations to reaching the 14 Million mark ...

I first found DeviantArt.com six years ago. At the time I didn't pay much attention. Two years later, I ran across it again while fishing the net for images (forgot what, but it was about games. IT ALWAYS IS ABOUT GAMES!); I found one so professional that I mistook it for an original.

When I saw that DeviantArt was a nexus of creative, intelligent and very talented people, I started checking it on a daily basis (that was about the time when my computer started to crash very frequently too...). At the beginning, I was just randomly browsing for things concerning games, but then I started to take an interest in the personal creations of each deviant here.

Four years later, whenever I access DeviantArt, I'm one step closer to acquiring Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. But in the process, I have seen and read so much that the effort pays itself off. My only grip was the lack of a search engine (although if you consider that DeviantArt hosts nearly 14 million deviations of all kinds [from a scribble to a flash animation], you can get angry with the administrators but you can't lash out at them). I found some images here that are so amazing I saved them in my computer; however, since few of them carry the creator's name, I never got to see them here again.

That's my main motivation for opening up this lil' space of mine: like me, I bet a pretty penny that there are my others in my situation. DeviantArt is so huge that, without an appropriate method to search, you end up being isolated on "islands" of people you know and appreciate while many deviations just float by on the "ocean" of daily input. Even through browsing, it is very difficult to see everything there is to see in a month (let alone in a day!), and the fact that you can only see 24 thumbnails (at max) per page doesn't help.

So, having moved here since three days ago, have things improved? Nope. I'm still doing the same thing: opening up my browser and filling it with more than 70 tabs under 6 minutes (I bet there isn't a record like this in Guiness yet! Or is there????). Not that I ever thought that it would be easy, though ...

But a bonus came up: I'm much closer to considering applying for a drawing class. Just don't expect to see any of my attempts here: as of present time, I don't have a scanner and I need to save up for a printer for my college assignments.

That sums it up. I hope journals are meant for us to write things like this. Or else I'm in hot water!

Peace of Spirit to all Deviants out there and good night!
