Why you should never buy an Xbox 360

November 2007 I bought my first 360, a 20gb Xbox Premium because the latest release, the Elite was sold out everywhere. Last month, that 360 stopped reading a lot of my games, giving my a disk read error. I contacted Microsoft and they said they could fix it for a price, a very expensive price. They also stated that if they couldn't find a problem with it, they would not fix it and would still charge me. A lot of my games still work so I couldn't send it off so I decided to go out and buy a new one.

Today I went out and bought a new 360, this time an Elite. I also paid for the extra insurance just so I wouldn't have to pay out a lot to get this one repaired if something went wrong. I got the 360 home and the red ring of death appeared. I immediately took it back to the store and told them what had happened. They couldn't believe it and decided to test the console, which to my annoyance worked for them. I asked them since I had insurance could they just swap it anyway, but they wouldn't do so. I asked for a refund but I wasn't allowed one because I had opened up the console.
As soon as I got it home it red ringed, I tried it on different plugs, different cables. Sometimes it gives me the rings and sometimes it doesn't. I would say 90% of the time I get the red rings. I'm hoping tomorrow I can get a new console but I'm not getting my hopes up.

I also noticed something else when I was having a closer look at the 360. The sticker that normally comes on top of the hard drive to protect it was missing and there where fingerprints all over the hard drive. I also noticed markings all over it where it has been scratched. I bought this thing as new but its obviously been used before.
I found out that game staff are allowed to remove new merchandise from its packaging and play with it before it goes on the shelf and still sell the item as new. I don't know if this is what happened here but it seems like it.

My advice to everyone:
-Don't buy from game, they screw you over even if you do have insurance on you console.
-Beware Microsoft and their faulty products. I'm still having problems with their new operating system on a laptop I bought a few years ago. If I where you, I would stay clear of the Xbox 360, I love the 360, but all the problems I'm getting with it is ridiculous.

UPDATE

I took the 360 back again today and nothing happened yet again. I told her it happened when using the HDMI port but she said she couldn't test that so it was my problem. My friends went with me but couldn't get anywhere with the manager. I had a recording of the 360 with the red ring that included the number on the back of the machine but she said that unless the 360 got the full ring (all four parts flashing) she didn't have to replace it. I checked the Microsoft website and I have now printed off the pages explaining about the hardware error and three flashing red lights means its a hardware error.
We brought the 360 back home again and tested it on my friends TV which worked fine. We took it back to my room where I connected it using the HDMI and I got the red ring again. I tried the HD cable I had been using for my old 360 on it and I got the red ring again. So I tried it on another TV and the red ring happened again. I also tested the other 360s in the house with the HDMI cable with my TV and they worked perfectly without the horrible sounds mine is making.
We will try again tomorrow to get it replaced but I'm not getting my hopes up.

I've never done this before but anyway, the other day one of my gerbils Masumi died fairly suddenly. I have no idea what happened since he wasn't even a year old. I found him trapped in his bars, I just thought his foot was stuck until I tried to get him out, then I realised he couldn't use his back legs. I knew it was bad instantly. I kept him with me for a bit to warm him up because he had gone cold, then I made the cage safe for him and put him back in with his brother. He died in the night after I went to bed.
This is one of the few pictures I have of him and its the best even though its a little blurred.

[link]

I now have only one gerbil, its really lonely in my room without Mas, especially for Kenji since it was his brother and he's never had to live alone before. At the moment he's really depressed, I've tried to get him a new mate but the only male I found was ill so I couldn't buy him. I'm also out of time to get one now as well since I leave for uni again on Saturday, I just hope he will be ok with me leaving, normally when I do he gets depressed, I just hope my mom will look after him well so he doesn't feel so bad.
I took this picture of Kenji yesterday, hope you all like it.

[link]
