Wow, where to begin.. It's been several months now since we dissappeared, and a lot has happened..

I didn't want to do anything anymore until I got a proper camera.. Which I did eventually, my very first DLSR, a beautiful gorgeous Sony Alpha300.. I'm so in love with it! So we waited for a while to make some new stuff and come back with a bang Yeah, I'm not into that false modesty at all

Also, we participated in the second Zagreb Photomarathon, and it was just an awful lot of fun, but who would have thought it would be so much exhausting at the same time?! Well anyways, we came out with some great photos from the contest, and we don't regret the 12 hours spent for a second

This summer (besides celebrating two wonderful years together ) we watched a bunch of movies, as always.. Have you seen Sweeney Todd?? Isn't it just the most perfect movie ever? I've seen it 5 times so far, and don't intend to stop for some time.. The songs are simply magnificent and I'm having trouble with getting them out of my head.. The only fault of the movie (in my opinion) is going overboard with the slaughterings and blood.. But if you just hide your head behind a pillow like I always do, it can be neglected



But enough of this small talk.. Our inbox has 4 figures! Gotta run.. There's a lot to make up for..

2007 flew by too fast.. and it's already the end of february.. soon we'll be making plans for this summer and yet another year will pass.. what a life, huh? :/

i deeply apologise for not going through your galleries and not faving as i used to, but to tell you the truth, i haven't been quite in the mood for the last couple of months.. since i was eagerly waiting for christmas and a new camera, but santa never showed up.. so all my photographic tendencies just died along with my dissapointment.. and that's really a pitty, since our subscription is just going to waste..

but santa promised he'll come and visit me earlier this year and bring me a brand new DSLR camera for my birthday.. so until then, i'll just have to concentrate on my life in general.. which is a drag, but what can you do..


on the other hand, my love made some amazing photos couple of months ago which we constantly delayed uploading, since shimmy couldn't make up his mind among dozens of fantastic shots.. finally, five spectacular scenes prevailed, but according to him, this is just the beginning of this series..

we hope you'll enjoy them, and stick around till this summer when hopefully our work will become more professional..

anyways.. it's been five full months since our last journal..
where did the time go?
this summer was .. well, interesting, if nothing else
and full of looove
i really do hope autumn will be as good, since i've had a bit of a discouraging start.. but things are starting to improve..

as for the lack of submissions, we hadn't had that much time nor the will for photography.. which i believe shall soon change, since i got my hands on a 6mp camera (which is certainly better than my last ).. and i am expecting to get for my birthday/christmas/st.patrick's day/whatever this beauty: [link]

One of the greatest guitar players of all time has proven himself once again, that he is one. And this time LIVE in my little country. Guy is awesome. Soooo goood guitar player, sooo gooood person... And he is not like one of those "I'm a star, leave me alone" artists. Oh noooo..... He was signing autographs to ANYONE on ANYTHING after the concert!!! He was also talking to the fans about his playing, his G3 tour with Petrucci and Satriani... And that is one thing I will always regret. I had a chance to talk to Paul, and to get his autograph, but I had to go home as soon as the concert finished to catch the last night bus...

But anyway, it was THE BEST concert in my life, and I mean the best on sooooo many different levels (artist, sound, playlist....everything), and I hope that I'll see Paul Gilbert again someday...

P.S.Sorry if my English was bad, I'm really sleepy...

i'm having the most amaaaazing spring break ever..

first of all, i want to thank the love of my life for these past few amazing days which made me feel like it was summer of 2006 again, when our love was still young and when we had all the time in the world for ourselves.. now i know that time really is important.. an hour or two a day for a couple is nothing.. only when you spend a whole day together can you see how much you're addicted to one another and how much your love means you.. and how everything, and i mean EVERYTHING falls into second place and nothing is as neccessary and important to you as love..

thank you Vanja, for being my friend, my partner, my brother, my guardian angel, my teacher, my guide, my lover, my biggest suport, my everything..

i'm in love with analog photography..
today i developed my first film which i took with the 20-year-old camera mentioned in my previous journal and i didn't think it will turn out that good or that i would feel the way i did when i looked at my photos.. it cannot be explained.. there's so much difference between digital and analog photography (of course, i'm refering to the usual digital cameras, not the professional ones, they can't be beat after all).. the beautiful colours, the way things are sharpened and focused, the unique atmosphere and so on.. ah, simply amazing.. i think i'll go bankrupt soon, since i plan to take at least 50 photos a week and i was surprised that most of the photos were of people.. i never knew i was interested in portraits.. but i feel in love with it so i'll continue doing them, along with macro and landscape which i also adore..

and this finally made me realize how come i was so often indiferent when it comes to artwork here on dA.. yes, i still get blown away everyday with some photos, but those are mostly either flash or works like those of `suzi9mm, *BellZ and so on.. but when it comes to landscape i was never that fascinated, eventhough there really are some amazing stuff here.. it was because i was looking them on a monitor, instead of holding them in my hands.. it really makes a huge difference and i'm starting to appreciate the old school way of shooting more and more..

oh, and expect lots of s this week, we've been a little absent from dA so our inbox filled with over 600 unviewed deviations.. when i find the time i'll sit down and go through everything to see what have you been upto lately

and my question would be:
have you ever downloaded or used in any other way any of our works?
and feel free to be honest, i won't harase you with copyright stuff
i just want to know how good we have been so far, do people who fav us really like our works and is it worth the trouble at all..

we get let's say.. five comments a week on our works, and maybe one or two favs every two weeks so it would be nice to know is it because of the lack of commercial we are doing for ourselves or because our works need improovement?

please don't hesitate to state your point of view, your possible critique and any other advice you think will be helpful..

how lucky can you can get to accidently stumble across a
FUNCTIONING 27-YEAR-OLD ANALOG CAMERA??


it's my fathers, a ZENIT-e, made in 1980 during the olympic games in moscow..
(how do i know that? it says so on the camera, don't know why, but it does )

and it's huge and beautiful and perfect and all miiiiiine

it also has all the extras, like flash, a stole and so on..
which kinda surprised me, i never knew my dad was into photography that much and that he new so much about it (he gave me two hours of instructions on how to use it and adjust everything.. sick )




of course it would be alot easier with a new one, which can be connected to the computer and everything and not having the film actually developed, but i think this has it's special charms, don't you? no one ever developes films nowadays which weren't taken with a digital camera (exept the professional photographers, but i'm not refering to them).. and now i can focuse on real life shooting, for photoalbums and stuff.. it's a shame that i have so many pictures on my hard-drive and not one in an album..

but after getting the hang of things on this camera, i'll probably buy a new one which will definitely be a dream come true..

first of all, i have to stress that these works are those of two people who can't imagine life without each other.. so in order to have even more things in common, we decided to open an acount together..

secondly, i, minerva, have already an account on *Dai-the-Flu, which is dedicated to deftones, but shimmy is new at this and this is the first time he is publishing his work.. so be generous and give him (and me of course) s and s whenever you can..

i don't know how this will work, i mean, it's easy to state which photo is whose, but i'm not sure about commenting and talking to people.. oh well, we'll just have to adjust along the way..

to tell you the truth, i like this gallery more than mine, since these works are all carefully chosen, that is, we'll try to put here just those photos which we are particurarly proud of.. and of course, all critiques are more than welcome!
