The thing is is that... yes, I still do stuff. Yes, college still takes time away... and... sometimes I have a bit of an anxiety issue coming on to certain places along with not feeling like posting every single thing I do but still feel like those who really enjoy keeping a tab on my work should still get to.

SO. For some people out there who are interested. Here is the art journal that I've started posting extras on. This will end up being the place where I'll even post snippets of writings or doodle scraps with my finished somethings. (but please note, for several reasons, it's friends-only so if you want to keep tabs... friend me or something. Sorry.)

Question: What is the difference between fan-art/fan-fics, spin-offs, and whatnots, and "stealing" art?

My answer: I don't see much of a difference unless you traced their work and post it and try to claim it as your own. And I don't mean little things like styles or something, I mean the EXACT copy, like the same art style, the same idea, the same name, the same concept, the same everything.

As for the other thing, if stealing an idea and making your own of it isn't stealing-- it can be expected in the art world if you think about it. Songs, art styles, and writing have been manipulated from their original stand-points for centuries and they've NOT been considered stealing... I mean, as for fanart, they are creations from things that have already existed. Like for instance, an Irken or a character from Invader Zim has been seen across this site and other sites... and those who've taken that have created a form of them that they can call their own. WITHOUT asking the maker of Invader Zim if they can use his work as part of their own. And not only him, but any PERSON who is in art or entertainment.

Like also, I've seen people create art based on artist from a long time ago like Picaso or Leonardo DeVinci; their art works are repainted many times by younger artists, but they are not stealing that is already there. For one, they're learning by using different styles of art that are used by other people and still keep the same respect for the artist.

And besides, who can possibly really say that I've stolen something when it is already been draw, created in something original but yet similar to someone else's work when their work isn't so different than another's? Because if I've stolen something of someone else's... you'd know by me having the exact picture on my site and trying to claim it as my own. Seriously...

And if one is so bend out of shape that their work inspires others to create work of their own based off of their work, then they should've posted it to the public to begin with. And even if they knew if their work is being used in any kind of way, how are they to tell a person that they can't do they're own thing? And if they wanted to even remotely do something about it, how can they? Because as far as I'm concerned, I don't see already artists such as the ones I've mentioned going around and ordering every single person who've created their own spin-off of their work to stop. Not the ones alive and being moody or even the ones who've died, cause I don't see them going around haunting people. Seriously... Get over yourselves.

Now, once and for all, I did not steal a thing. And if I did, show me how I did and how it isn't any different than what you're doing with your own work or anyone else who've created things of their own based off of work that inspired them. As I said, I admirer other people's work such as Clamp, Yuu Watase, Deovi, and man more artists... and used their work as the bases of mine... even I have characters of their's that I use for things I've done before, crediting them in return of course... JUST like everyone else. But I don't claim any of characters that already exist as my own, but claim only the spin-off that I've created. There isn't anything wrong with that. And if there is, then you girls who've bitched at me should probably change your art just as well as me since you're just as much as thieves yourselves.

And lastly, I had respect for some artists... but now, I probably only admire their work... not them, themselves, since all they do is being bitches about something that is so common that no one even thinks about it as a crime. It's expected, people... and if you don't like it, then either deal with it or not. Because I may not be the only one and since there is an entire world out there... who knows how many people have created spin-offs and such... without asking. Seriously... think about it and if you even remotely understand a thing I've said, then congradulations... you've just realized that being an artist is a whole lot harder than a walk in the park. And that even if you want to play baby with your things.... you gotta know that no matter what you do, as long as your work is public... it will and always be used by someone... or someones. So there.

I've said and bitched about what I wanted to say. Anyways, thank you Zri for Bluu, he's so freaking awesome!!! Now, I think I was a little inspired a bit... I think I'll probably adopt off dragon people from my story thing or something like that. So people can have a dragon pet/friend/companion.

But I'm sure that if I want to do it. So you guys tell me if you want one or not and if so, I'll probably post up a list or something of the available dragons.

Well, while I wasn't on, I had some interesting things going on... me getting back with my boyfriend(Though I actually starting to get a bit buggy about that, I mean, I still love him but my heart sorta move on at the same time...). I also went to a lot of Christmas shows lately, and I 've somehow keep jumping back and forth between my work. But still, it's something, right?

One- Zri freaking out like a rabbied fan girl which was the funniest thing I've seen for this year... I think. Besides, people said that for as long as they known her, they never seen her freak out like that at all. Funny thing is that I'm being worshipped and threatened at the same time. Two-Me breaking up with my boyfriend, but I'm okay. Three- Homecoming/Prep Rally which I barely paid attention to. Four-PSAT tomorrow which I know I'm going to fail(ugh...). Five-Friend from school had a massive brain surgery to fix his grown-man's-hand size brain tumor and everyone who knows him(and those who don't) are pitching in to help him. Six-Finding out that all the school files has be wiped off the face of this earth by either a virus(doubt it!) or some idiot hacked into the computer's mainframe and deleted them. Seven, I finally get to see my baby cookatoo for the first time this Saturday after hearing that it's mine(something good for once...I hope). Eight- Oh yeah, watching FF7 for the billionth time.... And... I think that's all for now. Well. I think I've got plenty of excitement for this week and it's not even the end of it too. Today at work... okay, don't you guys ever get one of those really annoying people who practially drives you crazy? Yeah, I just had another one of those today. This dude who I clearly thought was either drunk or high on something calls in on his cell phone, but-- he was standing on the counter right behind me! Which basically screwed up the signal so I couldn't hear a thing he was saying, so one or two things went wrong on his order. But at the end of it he was blabbing about how he was suppose to get a certain part of his meal free so I gave it to my mom. But then I realized that he was less than 6 ft away from me! I was angry, but I wasn't the only one... After me talk to my dad, the manager, he checked his food but complained that it was not what he ordered... Dude! if you wanted your order right! You could've said something face to face instead of wasting your phone bill?! Geez!!!

I was annoyed for awhile, but now I'm good.

Oh, and I finally get to see the movie I been wanting to see since I seen the preview on SteamBoy. That's right, I finally get to see Final Fantasy 7- Advent Children!!! It is soooo awesome!!! *Sigh*... a bit sleepy from using to much energy to run around work and almost watching a 3 year kid run into the streets. Yeah, there was a 3 year kid that ran from his mom and almost got hit by a car!! Just by 2 seconds too if it weren't for his mom who ran after him and caught him just in time.

*Ahem*... Anyway, today I spent most of my day working, even though I was suppose to get the night off, and I have a very 'nice' mom of two band members to thank. Fun isn't it? But not as fun as the Movie Gallery next door having fun with the Kiss 91.5fm van parked in from of it. Kinda makes you wonder what's going on doesn't it?

Anyhoo, I'm in need of some ideas for things to draw... If anyone has a request, I'll be happy to take it. Though I'm more likely to do only selected ones since I basically don't have as much time as I used to, and because I tend to lose interest in certain pictures or I just won't do them at all.

Heck, I'm starting to not like my art class because we spend the whole freaken class period with a freaken hard/long still-life drawing. After a week of doing it, I pretty much lost interest... all well. Spanish class is always boring so no comment about that. Discrete Math... our teacher basically doesn't care if we take notes or fall a sleepy while trying to pay attention(not!). Nothing is needed to be said about my SAT prep class- especially when I got one of those... 'perky' teachers.

Work. Gawd I wish I didn't have to work today! But anyways, at least now I am home and ready for bed.(but only after I check out what's up on the net )

So anyhoo, I'll check back tomorrow when I am actually awake(I hope).

Though todays was a bit... interesting. A crazy dude came to my parent's resturant and ordered, but before that, he was complaining non stop in Spanish, English, and bad English about how ugly his car was(I think...). After, he went outside and started going around with a pipe in his hand. He looked like he was about to throw them into cars passing by, and our window, though he calmed down by beating up the speed limit sign. Many customer were 'concerned', especially since most of us didn't think he should be driving, or even be around anyone in that matter. So to get rid of him, I got his food ready first, and one of the 'concerned' (and annoyed) customers told him while he was flicking everything he saw that his food was ready. Good thing he left, but not without talking gibberish again and nearly hitting on his way out.

That's pretty much my highlight of the day. "Crazy psycomaniac going psyco!" But now I'm finally home and here to see all my friends. I'm good now. ^^ ]]> ~SilverFox17
