Holy crap, have I not updated this thing in over three weeks? o_O God, I haven't even gotten around to replying to comments or writing new Mini-DDs in god knows when...Well, time to start remedying that. For now, here's a list of notable stuff that's happened to me since last time, in chronological order as best as I can remember...

- Headed out to Pat & Willy's Cantina with aunt & extended family for birthday dinner. Man, do I love tex-mex food...Even though my chicken toggles were cajun seasoned, & I don't know if any of it was really tex or mex. Meh, still awesome.

- Saw Zombieland with dad. Awesome, awesome movie. Woody Harrelson, you & Tallahassee have officially made it on my list of Best Big Screen Badasses. Bravo, sir, bravo.

- In the student union I discover a notice advertising a chairty event the next day: For five dollars, you can have 30 seconds to smash an SUV. I forget what the charity was for, though, largely because the only thought crossing my mind then Dude, you get to f***ing SMASH A CAR UP! DO IT!!

- Went to my physics lab. Feeling confident on weekly quiz, & starting to show confidence in a nice little experiment with kind & competent partners.

- Steps towards the end, one of said lab partners suffers a seizure. His face twitches, he goes down, I becomed shocked & kind of afraid. For several minutes I hold down his arms until the ambulance comes, all while thinking "Oh my god, oh my god, will he be okay? Is this what my seizures really look like? Could this happen to me in public?"

- Arrived home late, pretty frazzled, but feeling better knowing my partner's gonna be okay.

- Participate in charity car smash. It went okay, I suppose, but in retrospect I should've followed my instincts & gone with the sledgehammer instead of the crowbar. Kind of thought I could do some "ripping" damage, but it turns out I was wrong. Eh, at least I still got the rear lights.

- Went to first day of my new part-time job at the campus library. It's a nice job, save for the part where I had to catalog some old books. The annoying part is that they're kept in an air-conditioned room. Air conditioning. In October. Needless to say, I learned my lesson about the importance of sweaters.

- I discover Marge Simpson will be posing for Playboy. Granted, she won't be nude, but...Wow. Creepy. I mean, is this the best thing they could think of to help promote 20 years of The Simpsons? And why Marge Simpson, the innocent & pure cartoon wife? Why not any of Seth McFarlane's three MILFs with the raunchier tastes? And Marge as Playboy's first cartoon star? Really? You guys never thought about Jessica Rabbit, not even once? Idiots...

- Having gotten frustrated & slightly bored with it, I trade in Scribblenauts for Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box.

- Saw Zombieland. Again. Still awesome. Also, anyone think Legion looks pretty cool as well? Thought the trailer was pretty neat.

- Get home from movies, pop in the new Layton game.

- The next 24 hours are kind of a blur. All I remember are puzzles...Lots & lots of puzzles...There was a break for some new episodes of The Venture Bros., ATHF, American Dad! & the like, & maybe breaks for food, but the rest is all puzzles & british accents...And a revelation that I'm still questioning.

- Thanksgiving. Turkey time!

- Pick up Brütal Legend on Tuesday, though due to my schedule, I sadly won't be able to play it until Thursday.

- Notice that the cafeteria is offering pierogis today, which I've never tried before. Holy crap, are they good! Damn, I've been missing out on a treat...

- Begin playing Brütal Legend. Surprisingly not as addictive as I thought it would be, but still damn awesome.

- Two weeks after my last journal entry, I think "Holy s***, have I killed a lot of productivity. I haven't even gotten around to any new Mini-DDs in nearly two weeks." And thus I buckle down & get back to them!

...Riiight after this Modern Family episode I DVRed.

See the newest Mini-DDs here: [link] , [link]

And check out the Mini-DD Archive here: [link]

Well, in just over 2 days I turn 25...Yet I don't seem to be that excited about it. Maybe it's the fact that I don't have any real plans for it yet...Or maybe that due to my mom's confusions with the Internet, she can't get me my #1 present - [link] - Until after the big day...Or maybe it's because I have a midterm to take that morning (it was either then or the after, & better to get it over with birthday morning than to spend my whole birthday studying).

Speaking of which, yeah, that's kind of why I haven't updated my Mini-DDs recently...So expect them tomorrow or Tuesday instead (with the Birthday Special afterwards). Sorry about that... And for not updating this journal in weeks as well...God, I really do need some more effin' get-up-and-go!

Anyhow, other random stuff I've noticed the past couple of weeks...

- That new NBC show Community actually has a character with Asperger's Syndrome?? Dang...O_O First time I've actually meant "I can totally relate to them" when talking about a TV character...

- I really don't know what the hell a "Clicker" is, but apparently my university requires I pay $67 for one. Between this & the hundreds spent on books, all I can say is that I better at least get a lot of $$$ towards travel on the credit card...

- Canker sores twice in three weeks?? F***...Anyone know any good remedies? Mouthwash & salt water work okay, but anyone know anything better?

- Well, Scribblenauts, I am really having a love/hate relationship with you...Love because of your unique concept, & hate because of the lousy control & gaps in logic.

- Finally, I know I'm late on this, but Kanye, you're a moron, MTV, you're a bunch of bastards for obviously staging the whole thing, American public, you're idiots for blowing this whole thing out of control, & Taylor & Beyonce, neither of you even deserved an award for those videos to begin with. So there.

See the newest Mini-DDs here: [link] , [link] , [link]

And check out the Mini-DD Archive here: [link]

Guitar Hero 5 - Beaten every song on Medium. Great game, but having to beat "challenges" to unlock new accessories instead of just using the old system of earning money from gigs & just buying the stuff can be annoying...Especially when you're lacking the drums & can't do those challenges. Ah well, still an awesome game with a cool setlist...& a nice amount of difficulty (good luck on Jeff Beck)!

Batman: Arkham Asylum - Story mode has been thoroughly conquered, with the Joker defeated & all riddles found. That ending was a tiny bit lacking as some have said, but those final battles...Man, what a doozy...A glorious, glorious doozy...XD

'Splosion Man - Have yet to get through most of it, largely because, well, I was busy with the above.

Tales of Monkey Island Chapter - Have yet to even download & install it because once again, see above.

The Path, Fat Princess, Professor Layton and The Diabolical Box, & the Virtual Console release of Pulseman - Um, I have yet to even buy those. Gaming world, are you going to leave me broke by he end of this year?

Brütal Legend - ...I'l take that as a yes.

See the newest Mini-DDs here: [link]

And check out the Mini-DD Archive here: [link]

Okay, I know I'm late in commenting on this, but...Disney buying Marvel.

My god.

Do you people realize what horrors this will lead to?? The endless, unimaginative barrage of insanity we shall get? Do you know what this all means?? o_O

This means...

...That for at least one entire week, DA will constantly be assaulted with nothing but endless drawings of Disney characters dressed up as Marvel characters (or vice versa). The unimaginative horror...I mean, constantly being told the same joke over & over? Sweet Jesus, it's April Fool's 2008 all over again. XD

...Oh, my real feelings about the Disney/Marvel deal? Meh. I'll wait for something important in this to actually happen before I pass judgement.

Also, I was hit with this little surprise just a couple of hours ago:

And that, people, is just one reason why *Kaaziel effin' rocks.
And know, because I know of no other way to set these up, here are some good things/dad things I've encountered in the past while...

Good

- District 9 & Inglorious Basterds. Oh lordy, did the Summer movie season save the best for last! I saw them in a little double feature last week, & damn...It's kind of hard for me to say something great about these films that hasn't been said already. D9 had a some unique presentation, kickass alien designs, several unique concepts & characters you really cared about...And IB had a lot of suspense, a gloriously unique & twisted take on history, Cristoph Waltz's awesome performance, & that one awesome scene in the theater which introduced to me to an awesome David Bowie tune that shall now rank among my top faves. So yeah, awesome times to be had at the movies. ^_^

- Batman: Arkham Asylum. I was actually just going to rent this game for starters, but then the clerk at EB Games said they had this promotion: Pre-order the game, & as long as you pick it up on the day of release, you get $30 off. One day only, he said. Needless to say, since it was almost half off & garnering some of the year's best reviews, it was impossible to resist. Needless to say, it's been my current addiction at the time, excelling in everything from combat to story to voice acting (Mark Hamill FTW!!), with a grand amount of variety, a genuinely chilling atmosphere, & several moments that really feel straight out of the comic books. Several critics have noted it as this year's BioShock, & I definitely have to agree!

- Getting an extra week of part-time work. Nothing special, I'm just really glad I'm earning some more money.

- The loads of kickass & funny daily lists over at Topless Robot ([link]), ensuring that my productivity during said work will be slowed down considerably. XD Also reminds me that I have to get off my ass & write those lists I had my own ideas for...

Bad

- Walking into a bookstore & being a bit overwhelmed by several authors trying to cash in on the 40th anniversary of Woodstock everyone in the media is fixated on for now. Maybe it's just because I'm not a real fan of '60s music, but I am just a little bit sick of this (& from what some experts have wrote, I heard it wasn't even that amazing a concert to begin with).

- KFC's Double Down: [link] Good lord, I think I've actually felt heart pains just looking at it. I mean, I'm a fan of fast food just as much as the next guy, but...Wow. So it's actually come to this. Didn't they just invent this as a joke on 30 Rock? Saddest of all: I may actually be tempted to try it, if it wasn't for the fact that swiss cheese makes me queasy.

- Speaking of which, I think I've had some odd appetite problems recently...Like I have sudden stomach pains where it just feels completely empty or something...Kind of afraid it's like this one disease I saw on CSI where you always feel constantly hungry & empty, no matter how much you eat. o_O

- The lack of anything really new on Teletoon's upcoming schedule, with the only new thing they're announcing being the addition of King of The Hill...Which already airs seven days a week on another network here, & has been cancelled anyway. And you thought the Cartoon Network down south was creatively bankrupt...F*** you, CN Real...>_<

Well, that'd be all for now. I have more asylum inmates to beat up...And I need to do it fast,as my next addiction - Guitar Hero 5 - Comes out Tuesday. XD

See the newest Mini-DDs here: [link]

And check out the Mini-DD Archive here: [link]

Things I learned/confirmed today during a trip to the annual carnival/exhibition:

- Soft-serve ice cream actually tastes better when surrounded by a large crowd, loads of bright colors, & speakers blaring '90s dance music.

- Despite what you tell yourself & no matter how much you resist, you will end up pissing away $15 for a shot at winning, say, a vintage-style Coca-Cola poster/wall clock.

- No matter how old you are, Tilt-A-Whirls are always f***ing awesome. ^_^

- The lack of a Gravitron does decrease the overall fun somewhat, but can be made up for with at least 4 other excellent rides.

- Apparently, the carnies that run games are huge fans of Invader Zim, as evidenced by the guys at separate booths who asked me where I got my Gir t-shirt, & offered me $20 for it, & took a picture of it...Actually, in retrospect, it kind of seems creepy now. o_O

- If you have any spare tickets leftover & want to blow them on something, do not try to recapture your youth by going in the fun house you went in several times when you were in grade school...Or at least not one featuring one of those cheap-ass plastic slides that's guaranteed to skin at least one part of your body. >_<

...All in all, still one excellent day. At the very least, i was able to score candy apples (only in season for one more month)!

See the newest Mini-DDs here: [link]

And check out the Mini-DD Archive here: [link]

Well, I'm bored & I really don't have anything interesting to say this time around, so here's a baker's dozen of kickass songs I found via Last.fm (with assistance from Hotspot Shield):

Infadels – "Girl That Speaks No Words" [link]
Screaming Trees - "All I Know" [link]
Spinnerette - "Ghetto Love" [link]
Kenna – "Say Goodbye to Love" [link]
The Bronx - "Six Days a Week" [link]
The Rasmus - "Guilty" [link]
Bush Tetras – "Can't Be Funky" [link]
CKY – "Familiar Realm" [link]
Madball - "Heavenhell" [link]
Pylon – "Feast On My Heart" [link]
Mad Sin - "1000 Eyes" [link]
Dead Kennedys – "Soup Is Good Food" [link]
Danzig – "Long Way Back From Hell" [link]

...And of course, if you have any recommendations from killer tunes as well, I'd be more than happy if you shared 'em! ^_^

Also, I really need to begin working on a set of special features for DA's 9th birthday. Unfortunately, the actual working on of said features may clash with the premiere of Monkeybone on Teletoon tomorrow night...Haven't seen that movie in years.
How NOT to quit an account:

[link]

Ah, Sonic fan artists. Some of DA's most talented, but also those with some of the most fragile psyches.

Man, does this happen too often on DA. It's one thing to feel stuck in a rut, & to want to experiment & want to draw something new & original. I fully sympathize with that. But why do artists like these think that they need to make a new account just to get a bit of a fresh start? Why not just keep going & doing something new? Afraid your fans will get angry? Because if they do, they're so not your fans.

Also, deleting your entire gallery once you move: F***ING ANNOYING. That's basically just giving a big middle finger to everyone who's supported you over the years & loved all the kickass artwork you made. I know you're afraid of theft as well, but geez, at least think about a few watermarks first. >_<

But the worst part of this is that Winona here takes it one step further by actually disowning her character Venus ( [link] ), a simple, fun, & really cute & lovable creation that I'd definitely feel proud to have thought up. And she even asks people to delete all fan art of her? Damn, that is just cruel.

I mean, imagine if musicians acted like this. Your favorite band either gets tired of their current sound or loses a member, & what happens? They destroy all their master tracks, recall all their albums, demand no one play their songs anymore, etc., all that just because they wanted to try something new.

So, *WinonaHeart (or whatever name her new account has, consider yourself one of the poorest examples of how to deal with art block. Madam, the pointy finger of shame shall forever be aimed straight towards you. >:[

See the newest Mini-DDs here: [link]

And check out the Mini-DD Archive here: [link]

So I was just mulling over all the movies I've seen this summer (I geekily see at least one each week), & looking back on it, I've noticed something...

- X-Men Origins: Wolverine was an uninspired disappointment & a bit of a stinker, but at least it had one bright spot in the form of Hugh Jackman's solid, spirited, & standout performance as Wolverine.

- Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian was a chaotic mess with almost no real plot or substance, but at least it had one bright spot in the form of Amy Adams' solid, spirited, & standout performance as Amelia Earhart.

- Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs was pretty much just average, & kind of just felt like it was blandly going through the motions, but at least it had one bright spot in the form of Simon Pegg's solid, spirited, & standout performance as Buck.

- Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen was...Well, you've seen what I've thought about it before. The less said, the better, but at least it had one bright spot in the form of Mark Ryan's solid, spirited, & standout performance as Jetfire (minus the incontinence joke).

- Terminator Salvation was...Actually, I liked it! The critics, however, slammed it a bit, but at least it had one bright spot in the form of Sam Worthington's solid, spirited, & standout performance as Marcus Wright.

...So has to come to this? Are the big-budget blockbusters of our free time no longer able to just have an all-around excellent cast, instead just relying on one performance to carry the movie?

Probably not, but it has been an annoyance this year.

But adding to the annoyance is the fact that...

SPOILERS

...With the exception of Wolverine, every one of the characters I've mentioned either dies or goes away at the end of their movies, thus insuring that we never see that killer performance again. Maybe it's for the best, but man, would I have killed to see characters like Worthington's Marcus Wright tear it up on the big screen again.

END SPOILERS

So yeah, Hollywood kinda blew it this year (for the most part, at least). Well, there's always next year...Or this holiday season, actually.

See the newest Mini-DDs here: [link]

And check out the Mini-DD Archive here: [link]

...Okay, quite honestly, this journal entry is here mainly just to keep the updated Mini-DD Archive off the front page. Though I have to say it's been months since I added a new page...How many thumbnails can the average journal entry hold, anyway?

But anyhow, for something actually interesting...So I pop into Honestgamers a few days back, & what do I see reviewed & available for release? The first chapter for Tales of Monkey island...O_O

I mean damn, talk about a sneak attack! It really just seemed to have popped up out of nowhere...Well, one visit to Steam & 35 dollars later, & the full series is pre-ordered, with Lauch of the Screaming Narwhal installed. So how was it?

Well, despite some framerate/slowness issues my PC apparently had, pretty damn fine for a first chapter!

Dominic Armato was in fine form, playing Guybursh like a pro as usual. Same said for the writing as well, nice, funny, & still sharp as ever. The new control scheme was a bit odd at first, but it quickly became easy to get into. The graphics were great, the story was great, & the puzzles had just the perfect balance. ^_^

The only flaw? The length. This being but the first chapter of a five-part game, it took about two hours, tops, to go through. In the end, it just left me salivating for the next part...Well, I do have my newly-purchased BlazBlue to tide me over until then...8D

Bottom line, I give it an 8 out of 10, so go check it out!

See the newest Mini-DDs here: [link]

And check out the Mini-DD Archive here: [link]

Dear Groening & Co.,

Thank you very, very much tonight providing us with the best tribute possible to Michael Jackson. Screw Dateline or anything, you topped them by providing us with what may be Michael's greatest work...A special airing of "Do The Bartman".

[link]

...God, how that took me back. You guys rocked for putting it back on the airwaves.

R.I.P. Michael Jackson, one of the most legendary musicians ever.

---

Dear DA artists from Udon's Darkstalkers Tribute,

Holy crap, slow it down, will ya? I mean yes, you made it into the book. Yes, you're proud. And rightfully so, as you kicked major ass! But do you really need to immediately show off your winning entries? Seriously, by putting it all up here, you're kind of providing us with less incentive to, you know, actually buy the friggin' book.

---

Dear Michael Bay,

WHAT THE F*** HAPPENED??? O_O

Seriously man, you had 90 minutes of one good "dumb fun" action movie there. But then you had to go & spoil it with an hour of unneccessary, unfunny comedic bits! Did we really need Sam's mom getting high on pot brownies, Jetfire farting a parachute, two shots of dogs humping, John Turturro's ass cheeks, Decepticon testicles...F***ING DECPTICON TESTICLES!!! Seriously, do I need to say any more after that?? And don't even get me started on the groan-worthy, humorless, borderline racist Twins...Largely because everyone else who hated this movie is already started on them as well. Seriously though, ya got Jar Jar 2.0 there indeed. >_<

Long story short: I want my nine bucks back.

---

Sincerely, SlyDante.

See the newest Mini-DDs here: [link]

And check out the Mini-DD Archive here: [link]

...You know, I'm pretty sure I've done this meme before at some point, but seeing as how I don't have anything else noteworthy to post this week, why the hell not? Let the symphony begin!

YOUR LIFE AS A MOVIE SOUNDTRACK.
Gather up a whole bunch of music, and click shuffle. The first song goes with the first chapter, and so on and so fourth. Sometimes, the results are quite surprising and creepy!

1. Epic Prologue
Le Tigre - "Deceptacon (DFA Remix)"
(Oh, if only everything afterwards did sound that cool.)

2. Birth
The Bucketheads - "The Bomb! (These Sounds Fall Into My Mind)"
(Okay, my mom's voice doesn't haunt me that much.)

3. Childhood
The Academy Is... - "Black Mamba (Teddybears Remix)"
(I think we may be sending mixed messages here...)

4. First Day of High School
Moby - "Shining"
(Meh. It seems to work alright.)

5. School Bully
Delerium - "You & I (Slow Rise Mix)"
(Okay, unless said bully is one of those semi-hot girls who called me names, this is wildly inaccurate.)

6. The After School Fight
Tweet - "Oops (Oh My)"
(...And now it had BETTER be one of those semi-hot girls, or else this is getting really f***ed up right here.)

7. Graduating High School
Coheed & Cambria - "Wake Up (Acoustic)"
(Damn, this actually does sound like something they'd play at our graduation. On another note, my life so far has involved two songs from the Snakes On A Plane soundtrack. That might say a lot.)

8. New Home
Adam F - "Circles"
(Okay, one thing I have learned about my life via this meme: I have way too many old techno & dance songs still on my iPod.)

9. Creepy Nighbors
Way Out West - "Pulse of Life"
(Ditto above.)

10. Flashbacks
P.O.D. - "School of Hard Knocks"
(Sadly, this is a pretty damn accurate description of me looking back at my junior high/high school days.)

11. Mental Breakdown
Ministry - "Stigmata"
(Oooh, a little industrial for my freak-outs! Nice!)

12. Meeting An Old Friend
Seal - "Crazy (William Orbit Mix)"
(Okay, once again, please let this involve a girl. Seriously, I beg you.)

13. Falling Asleep/Having a Nightmare
LL Cool J - "I Can't Live Without My Radio"
(Umm...Wha???)

14. A New Enemy
Killing Joke - "Requiem"
(Yeah, this truly sets the stage for a fierce enemy!...)

15. Final Battle
De La Soul - "Me, Myself and I"
(...And this totally doesn't. Nonetheless, having a schizophrenic version of myself duke it out with some bizarro manifestation of my fears/flaws/etc. sounds fairly accurate.)

16. Death of Enemy
Duran Duran - "Planet Earth"
(Okay, why did my iPod suddenly decide to go into '80s mode all of a sudden? Meh, might work.)

17. First Day of New Job
Justice - "D.A.N.C.E."
(Considering that I'm desperately looking for a job at the moment, this will be how I feel when I get one...)

18. Starting College
The Raveonettes - "Twilight"
(Damn, not only the exact kind of music I listened to in my first years of college, but one by a band who debuted around the same time. Bravo!)

19. Falling In Love
Infusion - "Girls Can Be Cruel (Infusion Sq'Ed Mix)"
(Oh, ha-de-freakin-ha, iPod.)

20. Graduating College
Arctic Monkeys - "When The Sun Goes Down"
(Once again, it actually nails the graduation part.)

21. Facing Your Demons
Hive - "Ultrasonic Sound"
(An action song from The Matrix? Finally, at least ONE epic battle on this list gets an appropriate song!)

22. Growing Old
Tricky - "Overcome"
(Og god, I hope that becomes appropriate. At least in title.)

23. Your Funeral
Joy Division - "Atmosphere"
(NAILED IT. Okay, I would have preferred "Bohemian Rhapsody" or a Violator song to end my life, but dead-on funeral song!)

...So what did I learn from all of this? Apparently, that when I worked at my university's radio station & jammed my iPod full of anything in the CD library I could get my hands on, it actually ended up affecting my life. I mean, with Marvel & DC cranking out Crisis after mind-boggling Crisis, I always thought Archie comics - Which I grew up reading as a kid - Would still remain mostly sane. Apparently that is not the case, what with this impending marriage.

But my beef here is actually not that it's a shameless way to grab attention, nor that it's a lousy way to celebrate a 600th issue, or even that they so obviously will not go through with this marriage in the end. No, the problem is that Archie has chosen Veronica over Betty.

I mean, come on Archie, WTF?? You know Veronica's a WASPy rich bitch, dammit! And she's been around the block a few times, believe you me! And Betty's the one who's actually pined over you, done a lot for you, been kind to you these 60+ years, & she's pretty hot to boot! Apparently, Hollywood has actually become so desperate for comic adaptations (& basic movie ideas in general) that they have actually turned to making a movie out of gum wrappers.

I am...Really just speechless here. o_O Seriously, this has got to be the dumbest & laziest idea for a movie adaptation I can think of! I honestly do not know how lower one can go for source material to mine. I thought my faith in the clever side of filmmaking was lost when they announced Alvin and The Chipmunks: The Squeakuel (the mere mention of the pun "Squeakuel" inflicts pain upon me), but damn, this has taken the cake...What were they thinking?!? >_<

But in better movie news (& better news in general, really wanted to bump that last entry off here), I'll be seeing Up tonight.
...Well, my two contests in the Mini-DDs are pretty much DOA, what with them only having one entry each after about halfway in.
Well, you know that contest idea I had up in my poll? I went ahead with it & put it up in my Mini-DDs 3rd Anniversary Special...Along with a second contest, in fact. You can see them both here: [link]

And I heartily encourage you to...Eh, you know what, after my last disappointing contest, I'm just going to f*** subtlety here. ENTER THESE CONTESTS. PROMOTE THEM. ANYTHING. SOMETHING. PLEASE.

...But I'm getting off topic there. This journal entry is meant to give some honor to one of my new best friends...

Hotspot Shield.

What is it, you may ask? Basically, it's a computer program you can get (from here, in fact: [link]) that will provide you with an alternate IP address so that when you're in public wireless hotspots, people can't spy on you, get your info, etc.

Okay, so I don't fully understand what it can do. basically, I just got it for it's lovely side effect: Because Hotspot Shield essentially "masks" your IP address as being located in America, thus allowing you to get content from American sites unavailable to other regions!! That means the content on Hulu, Last.fm, Cartoon Network/Adult Swim, MTV...All available to anyone in the world!!

So the first thing I did was go to Hulu, & what did I find? That Hulu is...Kind of overrated, actually. o_O

I mean, at least 70% of the featured content just seemed to be clips from The Simpsons, Family Guy, & Saturday Night Live. All damn good clips, mind you, but it's kind of annoying to always see them front & center. And they don't even offer the full episodes they're from; Last time I checked, they only offered 5 full Simpsons episodes online. Really, it's not so much an evil plot to take over world as it is one just to kind of distract the world.

Nonetheless, I still have a lot to check out there...Particularly that '90s revival of The Outer Limits I remember watching a lot when I was a kid...

As for Cartoon Network & Adult Swim? That was a mixed bag. I went to watch full episodes of Chowder online...But there was only one episode there!! Heck, it wasn't even a full two-story episode, just one.

So then I go to Adult Swim to see all the episodes we haven't gotten up here yet. And go figure: When it's a show like Chowder, which has no central plot, only one episode is available. But for a show like Frisky Dingo, which does have a central plot, they put up every Season 2 episode except for the one that sets everything up & explains what's going on. Yeesh. Ah well, still enough sweet videos, episodes, & content in general (particularly their Amateur Surgeon game, although that may not have been region-specific...).

MTV (or as I prefer, MTV2 & MTVu)? Not much to say. Nice selection of videos, definitely, & nice to see more legit ones in high resolution & whatnot...I just wish browsing wasn't awkward at times (why have L7 listed as an artist in your Video section if you don't actually have any of their videos???).

Ahh, now Last.fm...That alone makes it all worth it. Piles & piles of free music to stream & download...I wasn't even interested in it until one the people using Hotspot Shield mentioned it. Now I doubt I can stay away from it!

So I guess looking at all, all the sites really didn't make up the land of milk & honey I had imagined. But nonetheless, Hotspot Shield does still kick ass indeed, & I shall indeed file in in with my best friends (at least until all those sites get wise to it). Here's to you, Hotspot Shield! *raises glass* ^_^

See the newest Mini-DDs here: [link]

And check out the Mini-DD Archive here: [link]

Okay, so recently I got my grades back for this semester. And out of the two courses I took, one I was especially proud of...Interactive Storytelling, in which I got a 96 out of 100 & scored at least one A+ in the course, the only A+ I have ever gotten so far in university. I knew my years of hoarding semi-obscure video game knowledge would pay off someday.

But in my second course, Calculus, I had scored a 64. Now, compared to last semester - in which I failed the course (which was sadly another university first) - I still considered this to be a bit of a success, thanks to the help of a great tutor.

...But then came my mom. >_<

Did anyone else I know have a problem with that mark? Nope, not indeed, they were just glad I passed. But my mom, oh damn. She has two flaws: One, she has always seen me as a wunderkind, & thus hates it when she believe that I didn't give any of my schoolwork 100%. And second, when she she gets mad at a mistake in one aspect of my life, she gets mad at mistakes in every aspect of my life.

The end result: My mom has chewed me out, attempted to punish me, threaten to send me back home to a shelter, & generally made me feel worthless...All because I passed one of my classes.

...This is gonna be one sad Mother's Day, I'll tell you that.

See the newest Mini-DDs here: [link]

And check out the Mini-DD Archive here: [link]

Okay, so I'm reading this review of the latest 30 Rock episode online, & a link in the comments leads me to this:

[link]

...Well, that would explain the bit with the singing Alec Baldwin muppet in said episode. XD

Damn, how Sesame Street has seemingly changed since I was a kid...I mean, even the numbers are more grown up! Whatever happened to the days of "5" & "7"? Ahh, but nonetheless, when kid's edutainment starts giving nods to shows like 30 Rock...Well, one other person in the comments said it best: "I can't wait to have kids." ^_^

Also, I picked up Guitar Hero: Metallica yesterday. Unsurprisingly, I quickly became addicted to it. And damn, I'm not even that big of a Metallica fan! Hopefully that says a lot about how good the game is...

Best of all, it's actually challenging. Not to diss Rock Band, but they just seem to dumb down the note charts too much...Granted, I only play on Medium for now (what can I say, can't handle five buttons), but dammit, I still expect some stuff that puts blisters on my fingers! >_<

And man, with GH: Metallica, I can still feel my hand ache...But it's a good kind of ache, like a trophy of sorts...Like that time on Friends when Chandler gets "The Claw" after playing Mrs. Pac-Man non-stop (dammit, what is it with me & NBC sitcoms?).

Well, I suppose I should go..."Disposable Heroes" is the only song I don't have five stars on.
Well, I decided to head out of town to Moncton, NB last weekend with my aunt (she invited me)...At first I didn't accomplish much besides hitting a couple of stores I couldn't find here in Charlottetown, picked me up a Social Distortion t-shirt & a new lava lamp...Which despite what the store clerk said about it only being turned on once for display, apparently had a faulty bulb. They shall pay. >_<

So for a while I thought this trip wouldn't be that special, until I noticed what was playing at the local multiplex while driving by...

...Coraline 3D.

Could it be??? O_O As majestic as it was, I only had to settle for the 2D version over here, as I've said before. And realizing that I may never have another chance to see this movie the way God intended it to be - in 3D on the big screen - I acted upon it. And what did I think of this version, you may ask?

Let me put it this way: I actually regretted buying snacks at the concession stand this time, because eating meant I would risk having to take my eyes off the screen & away from the pure magic, if even only for a split-second. ^_^

My only complaint is with the 3D glasses themselves. It is impressive that they actually resemble real glasses here, but I'm kind of disappointed that they weren't like the glasses we had during the short-lived 3D craze of the '90s (you know, when TV shows the 3rd Rock From The Sun, Home Improvement, & The Drew Carey Show did 3D specials & such). I actually got a pair from this 3D special EGM had, & those glasses would work on anything, especially all other gaming mags. Kind of hoping the same could be done with this pair, but ah well.

I actually got indegestion on the way home that day (I blame the breadsticks from the theater's Pizza Hut Express), but screw it, the trip was still worth it.

I also saw I Love You, Man the next day...Damn funny comedy as well. Jason Segel, Paul Rudd, & a cameo by Rush? Pure awesome. And as if I didn't have "Limelight" stuck in my head enough already...It's even invaded by ability to think of titles...XD

Well, gotta go. I've been playing Rock band 2 again, this time trying my hand at the mike (guess which downloadable song was on my setlist?)...& now I need liquid refreshment for a sore throat. Damn you, Brandon Flowers, & your tricky "Spaceman"...

See the newest Mini-DDs here: [link]

And check out the Mini-DD Archive here: [link]

- So a while back, I won this gift card in a silent auction my university was having...It was for Urban Eatery, this somewhat "upscale" section of the downtown mall...Think a fancier food court. They have one section for smoothies & paninis, one for barbecue, one for world cuisine, etc. Nice selection, but there's only one problem...Since they make everything in advance, there's no substitutions...& practically everything they make includes mushrooms. WHICH I HATE. Quesadillas? Mushrooms. Curry chicken? Mushrooms. Spring rolls? Mushrooms! Come to think of it, all those dishes had chicken as the main ingredient...Dammit, there are other vegetables chicken goes with, you know!! >_<

Nonetheless, I can't stay angry at them, because the food is still damn good. The garlic fingers & the ham & cheese panini...Oh so gooood...

- Saw Watchmen this weekend. I know, you've probably seen at least...I'll say three journal entries talking about it. But I've gotta throw in my two cents as well. Basically, despite not having read the original graphic novel (I know, I feel shame), I thought it was pretty damn cool. I could praise the effects, writing, etc., but there's only one part that still needs massive props...Jackie Earle Haley as Rorschach, who f***ing OWNED that movie. Holy crap, he kicked so much ass that I only wish there was more of him...& he left such an impact that I actually felt "NOOOOOO!!!" being screamed inside of me (due to my aforementioned lack of reading the comic beforehand) near the end.

Negative parts, btw? Pretty much only two: The non-subtle usage of classic rock throughout the movie, &...Well, The Depths of Manhattan. They just kept showing that area over & over...Not a place I really wanted to visit multiple times.

- Random YouTube promotions: One killer music video ( [link] ), & one classic sitcom episode ( [link] [link] [link] )

- ...Am I the only one who thinks that by now, Justin Timberlake should just take some time off from music & join Saturday Night Live as a featured player for a season? o_O

- That Kung Fu Panda DVD special Secrets Of The Furious Five aired on NBC a while back as well...& damn, did I love it. Not just because it was charming & well-written, mind you, but mainly because it was almost entirely in 2D...The same kind they had in the beginning & credits of the movie, that gloriously smooth, silky 2D animation...Damn, I was practically drooling. And thoughts came into my head while watching that...Which may manifest itself into a poll somehow...XD

See the newest Mini-DDs here: [link]

And check out the Mini-DD Archive here: [link]

Alright, the mom about three rows down who let her kid wander in the aisle talking was annoying, but f*** it, even they couldn't ruing this masterpiece!

- The Wrestler finally came out last weekend as well...What was it, their week of catching up or something? Where were they when I had to settle for Inkheart?

- Rented Lost: Via Domus this weekend for the 360...Holy f***, was that a waste of seven bucks! Piss-poor voice acting, an uninteresting main character, too much linearity, annoying fuse puzzles, grating "cave" sections...Even the big twist sucked (& is even apparently non-canon). Consider this a warning, people.

- Does anyone know where to find the full Chuck episode "Chuck Versus The Suburbs"? I'm glad Slumdog Millionaire won Best Picture, but extremely pissed that all WALL-E walked away with was that phoney-baloney "Best Animated Feature" award. That was an insult, & my revenge will be swift & quick...But until then, you can check the results below.

Alright, first things first...What the f*** is up with this?

[link]

...Not Seanbaby's writing, mind you, that's f***ing awesome & you should totally check it out. I mean, what's up with the screen that precedes it? Good god, is this what our paranoia against this spam (which has ironically led to my messages being spammed with at least twenty journal entries informing people on what they already know) has come to? And is this all we have? Just asking Deviants "Do you REALLY want to go to that site?" O_O

Ugh...Like that won't become annoying down the road (or now, for that matter).

Anyhow, I doubt anyone on this site cares much about the Oscars, but for fun, I figured I may as well mention my picks for the show coming in about thirty minutes...Despite already having gone 4 for 10 at the Razzies, of which I wasn't fond of the results. I mean, The Love Guru getting Worst Picture I understand...But what the f*** kind of world do we live in where Indy 4 is declared worse than that s***ty The Day The Earth Stood Still remake, & yet Disaster Movie - which over 20,000 people actually voted to be the worst movie ever made - Gets off without a symbol of its assholery?? Jeez...>_<

Anyhow, my shots at picking the winners of the 2009 Oscars...

Best Picture: Slumdog Millionaire
...Well, it should have been WALL-E or The Dark Knight up there. But noooo, god forbid the Academy nominate blockbusters for Best Picture. Jeez, what happened to the days when movies like Star Wars & Raiders of The Lost Ark would at least be nominated here??...But whatever. Benjamin Button was overrated (albeit still good) & The Reader has almost no support, so out of the remaining three, I'm going with the one I saw this weekend & friggin' loved.
HIT!!

Best Director: Danny Boyle, Slumdog Millionaire
Once again: Saw it, loved it. Danny Boyle, you did one sweet job.
HIT!!

Best Actor: Mickey Rourke, The Wrestler
I saw Milk as well, & Sean Penn gave a great performance...But the buzz behind Rourke is just too big to ignore.
MISS!! Penn got it. And now having finally seen The Wrestler, I can say that while Penn still gave a great performance, Rourke was robbed.

Best Actress: Anne Hathaway, Rachel Getting Married
Haven't seen any of the movies in this category...And since all of them are pretty much "Oscar Bait" drama, I don't plan to. But I like Anne (& voters might pass on Streep for having enough Oscar love already), & I read she had an amazing performance, so I'm going with her (though she still owes us for Bride Wars).
MISS!! Kate Winslet wins for The Reader. I guess she was right: As long as you're doing a holocaust movie, the Academy will love you no matter how average it is.

Best Supporting Actor: Heath Ledger, The Dark Knight
...Oh, come on now. Name one person actually crazy enough to bet against Heath. Though mad props, btw, for at least nominating Downey's comedic gem of a role.
HIT!!

Best Supporting Actress: Penélope Cruz, Vicky Cristina Barcelona
Being the only comedy out of the bunch (which the Oscars for supporting roles apparently tend to favor), I'm going with Cruz here.
HIT!!

Best Original Screenplay: Andrew Stanton, Jim Reardon and Pete Docter for WALL-E
For the first third of the film, practically no words are spoken...& yet it says so damn much & invokes so many emotions. That's just damn good writing, I tell ya (though I gotta say: Where's the nom for Pineapple Express?).
MISS!! Milk wins. And considering some people consider this to be the true "Best Picture" award (including me), I've gotta say I'm really pissed about this one.

Best Adapted Screenplay: Simon Beaufoy for Slumdog Millionaire
...In order to cap off all the major awards Slumdog was nominated for. Seriously, that was indeed one awesome movie.
HIT!!

Best Animated Feature: WALL-E
Once again, name so...

Well, the university's "spring/March" break apparently started today...Yeah. I don't get why they'd start the break at this time of the year either, especially considering that my class was cancelled today & others delayed because of a wind & snow storm. O_O

Bu hey, time off is time off! I wanted to celebrate my slight freedom by seeing Coraline...Unfortunately, this is where our mall's multiplex bears it's lack of taste. Despite me having dropped hints about wanting to see Coraline & even leaving a message on the official website, I'm still denied what's pretty much the best movie of the year so far. Yeah, good business plan...Screw the #1 family film out there right now, & instead fill the eight theatres with absolutely no "Fresh" films (see: RottenTomatoes). You'd think they'd at least chuck in an Oscar nominee or two this time of year, but nope...Instead I'll have to settle for The International (which actually doesn't look that bad), but dammit, I want my Coraline!!! >_<

EDIT: Two weeks later. Still no Coraline. Alright then, time to get some C4 & cut letters out of a magazine...

But on the light side, I picked up Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection today on a whim...& in doing so, caught up with an old friend called Dynamite Headdy. What is this, Childhood Rape Month or something? I've been with Mad since I was six (though some of the jokes were over my head then), & seeing them take a hit like this is just kind of devestating. And no, I honestly don't believe this change is all because of the economy because 1. They still would have said something about it & 2. They've been around for 50+ years, surviving several economic crises (including other recessions) in the process, so I'm kind of doubting a publication of legendary status can suddenly suffer like that.

On the plus side, they are axing that incredibly lame "Mad Kids" spin-off. I'm sorry, but as mentioned, I was already reading Mad when I was a kid. Several of my friends read it when they were kids. They still have articles in it aimed for kids. So why the f*** did they need a shoddy spin-off like that?

So I know it's not really dead, but now I feel like I need to go & reminisce about the glory that was & still is Mad...Like imagining every Spy Vs. Spy cartoon acted out in my head, or that time in '94 my older cousin caught me reading an issue with a naked NYPD Blue cast on the cover & a blurb also reading "Plus: Everything you ever needed to know about Caning & Condoms!" It felt awkward, but I actually felt grown up in a wierd way...Kind of like the feeling of sneaking a Playboy under the mattress. Hell, if you've got any good memories about them as well, share 'em here! ^_^

Also, I now have to bring your attention to the lovely gift *Camillo13 got me for Christmas (that arrived here around last week):

[link]

8D It's one of the "designer" toys from my Xmas Wish List, the Gama-Go Deathbot Undertaker! God, it just looked so awesome in person (even bigger than I imagined)! So lovably built of wood & with an old-fashioned & handmade feel, but with a kickass modern design...Too cool! An Cam even got it for me as a gift for "all you do for the community", & she even included a hand-written letter...This is just so personal, so lovable, so sentimental...Truly sweet. Thank you so friggin' much, Cam.

Now naturally, a gift of this magnitude deserves special treatment...Therefore, instead of being up on top of my dresser with my other miscellaneous figures, he shall have a spot right on my entertainment center across from my bed so I can always see him whether I'm watching TV, using my laptop, or even just laying down (& where he can also have a job guarding all my gaming systems): [link]

Well, now from amazing news to worse news: As some of you may have seen, my Mini-DDs Best Of 2008 Extravaganza is finally up: [link]

And along with it, I've put up a batch of contest revolving around voting for Deviation of The Year, just like last time! It was really something I had been preparing for & hoping for, to see several others voice their opinions on the best of the year! I mean, last year I got over 50 votes & over half a dozen other "Best of '07" features!

Now, how many votes have I gotten so far this year, you may ask?

TWO.

Yes. Two. Just two. About $100 in prizes & 151 pieces of kickass art, & only two people were actually interested enough to really take part in the contest. And not even that many people just checked it out had really excited reactions as well.

So sadly, this has really been a big chunk of a disappointment so far. Hell, even the amount of faves the article has is well below half of what the Best of '07 pulled in. Meanwhile, the guy who throws up a bunch of about 50 thumbnails with a "black" theme & doesn't even actually say that he likes them gets at least 5 more faves.

...Well, this has really gotten me started thinking about the DA community a bit, &...Well, seeing as how I don't want to either insult a lot of people or lose a lot of respect or anything like that, I think I'm just going have to talk to someone in private about my feelings concerning this situation. <img src="http://e.d...

First off, a happy belated Christmas & New Year's to all of you!...So I guess an explanation as to where I've been is due.

Well, as some of you can probably tell from my last journal entry, the past few weeks have been kind of an emotional rollercoaster for me. Thankfully, Christmas was not ruined as was mentioned, although my relatives fighting over Chinese food didn't help. I ended up with a nice assortment of presents, including Polysics' We Ate The Machine album & Social Distortion's Greatest Hits, which actually turned out to be the first Christmas presents my mom ordered online! Glad to see she finally worked up the courage to tackle shopping on the internet! ^_^

Some other choice presents included Fallout 3, De Blob, Season 2 of 30 Rock, the 10th Anniversary edition of The Big Lebowski (though kind of disappointingly not the one in the bowling ball casing), & a new backpack with compartment for my laptop. But the most addicting present so far? The Totally Mad DVD-Rom.

Holy crap, people. We're talking every issue of Mad Magazine from '52 to 2005. Admittingly, the production values are weak (kind of just feels like someone with a whole collection scanned it all & made bootleg copies), but you just can't beat the actual content. Reading every issue & article from my youth has sucked up a lot of time...Though so far I haven't been able to find a parody of "It's A Wonderful Life" they made that I wanted to celebrate the holidays with (an '80s update with Cher, Jon Belushi, & Chevy Chase).

Oh yeah, I still have to explain why I haven't been around here much! Well, after Christmas, I went home with my parents for the rest of the holidays. Now before I had left home in August, they told me they were getting rid of the high-speed internet to save money. Sounded fair.

Unfortunately, when I got home I learned that they just got rid of their internet service completely. >_<

Ow. Needless to say, my net access last week was extremely limited to when I could go to the mall & use free wireless. I suppose it is nice to know that I can go at least 24 hours without being online, but having so much work & messages pile up online kind of gets to you...Including being able to work on my Mini-DDs Best of 2008 Extravaganza, which will have to be delayed until next week. Sorry about that.

And as if to make matters worse, something got f***ed up with the cable in my old room, & knocked the amount of available channels on it down to about a dozen (that I never watch, of course). So that meant I was limited to watching only everything I had DVRed before I left, meaning that my whole time there pretty much consisted of marathons of Aqua Teen Hunger Force, King of The Hill, Metalocalypse, Sealab 2021, Moral Orel, Frisky Dingo, & movies aired on cable such as Mars Attacks!, Beavis & Butt-Head Do America, Batman, & Ninja Turtles II & III (which I had recorded in hopes of writing for The Agony Booth), all while reading endless issues of Mad & snacking on the gourment jellybeans, peppermint bark, mint chocolates, & other assorted treats I got for Xmas as well...

Huh...You know, in retrospect, it really wasn't a bad vacation.

Gotta end this now, but I have one last thing to ask everyone: Does anyone know where I can watch some Superjail episodes online (not counting Hulu & the Adult Swim site)? I want to see what all the fuss is about, & the cockblockers at Teletoon & the CRTC apparently thought their money was better invested in that cancelled "Father of the Pride" crap Dreamworks made. >_<

Anyhow, peace to all of ya! Happy new year, & hope you all had a great Xmas as well! ^_^

See the newest Mini-DDs here: [link]

And check out the Mini-DD Archive here: [link]

And thanks to the lot of you for helping me get through this. Updates to come now! ^_^

...So late last night I'm working on the latest edition of Mini-DDs. I took longer choosing what to feature this time around because it'd be my last "normal" edition of 2008, & I really wanted it to be good. Since it was late when I finished making my choices, I decided to save writing the article for later today.

Today, I learned that I had actually failed my Calculus course. When I was discussing this with my mom back in NB over the phone, what did she tell me alongside the facts that I had failed her, that dad was taking my car away, that I was f***ed, that my employment insurance was in the crapper, that I should just come home, etc., etc.?

That I had ruined Christmas for all of us.

...

...Needless to say, that cut me hard. No way I can write anything truly happy at the moment. I don't even think I can even get into the Christmas spirit, which I didn't even have before since the worry over these courses has been sucking it all away.

So yeah, just a heads up that the Mini-DDs will be delayed. And that, you know, I really f***ing hate myself.

Thanks, Mom.

See the newest Mini-DDs here: [link]

And check out the Mini-DD Archive here: [link]

Well, death seems to have hit me a lot this week, in several different ways...Both good & bad.

First there's my trusted Xbox 360...Finally getting the dreaded Red Ring of Death. Ow. >_< Well, at least it had a good run...About two & a half years. And go figure, it goes down just the Dead Kennedys & Mission of Burma track packs become available for Rock Band. Holy crap, I need those babies soon...So does anyone know what the process for having RROD'ed 360s repaired/replaced is like? Major help if you can answer that question.

Better news: In celebration of Grim Fandango's anniversary, Tim Schafer released the original design document for Grim Fandango - i.e. one of the best games ever made - For public viewing via download! Behind the scenes info, puzzle designs, loads of deleted material...Holy crap, it's a fanboy's wet dream. And go figure, LucasArts had it taken down from Double Fine's site for some gay reason. But luckily, there's always a way around it...[link] ^_^

Also, this way something smaller in comparison, I got a look at this Deathbot Undertaker figure: [link] ...& now I so f***ing want one for Christmas. Well, along with any other designer or vinyl toys like it (I actually want to see what they're like in person). Too bad my parents have a fear of shopping online...Eh, we'll just see what happens.

I'm also finally getting around to playing through all of the Sam & Max episodes I ordered from Telltale Games, with my latest one completed being - You guessed it - Night of the Raving Dead. Nothing much to say there, except that they suck up a good amount of time, they're incredibly fun, & you should definitely buy them. After all, who wouldn't a chance to perform an excorcism on Santa Claus with the help of action figures?

And finally in the world of death-related news...Me & my latest Computer Science exam. Enough said.

Well, gotta go for now. Have a happy death-filled day yourself!

See the newest Mini-DDs here: [link]

And check out the Mini-DD Archive here: [link]

Holy crap, has it been quite a while since I last updated the journal here. Over a month, in fact. And while this entry also conveniently immediately bumps off the latest expansion to the Mini-DD Archive, I really did want to make a new one. So what to talk about...

Well, here's how school life's been going: It sucks. Still. This can largely be attributed to the fact I suck at taking traditional quizzes & tests...Mainly because I haven't taken any of them in over two years. And even then it was all when I was getting my multimedia degree...& essay questions on sci-fi films are a heck of a lot easier for me to get through (& even more fun) than having to memorize & properly utilize calculus & physics formulas. And now since thinking about my current studies just leads to more depressing thoughts, I'd like to move on...

My birthday also came & went (September 30, turned 24), along with Mini-DDs Vol. 100...& with them actually came a couple of presents for! (Yay!) I got a much-needed extra 3-month subscription from *meiiikeee, & this kick-ass piece of gift art from `delya:

...Awww, you two were both so sweet & so awesome! Huge thanks to ya both!

As for my birthday money, I went & splurged it all on a PS3, which I was planning on getting sometime later anyway. Hell, this is actually the first time I really did something like this just for one game: LittleBigPlanet, which I wanted to begin playing the second it came out.

...& then it got delayed all because of ONE slightly offended Muslim. > I could go into how incredibly stupid this situation is (along with it being hypocritical & even potentially offensive), but frankly, I don't think I have the room for that.

Ah well, no matter now. LBP is out now & currently rocking my PS3...Now to just get through the story mode in order to gather the material for my grand project...Which now turns out I can't fully pull off until Winter...Oh well.

Went & saw Trevor Boris a couple weeks as well. Very funny, nice stuff...& thus making a 2nd Video On Trial regular I've seen perform at UPEI. Speaking of which, apparently someone on YouTube uploaded at least 50 episodes of VOT: [link]

...Which I mention largely because I'm a big fan of the show, & just want to share it with everyone outside Canada. ^_^

Looking at it, I have quite a s***load of messages that I still need to get around to replying to...o_O I may as well start right here by giving props to every new watcher I've gained in the last while. So a huge shoutout to the following Deviants...

~kontrastt
~MetaMephisto
*NieBakura
~MaddeningTruth
~mauroh
~Asyd-Rayn
~mellowpt
*Test-Tube-Baby
~IgorSan
~TheQuinkan
=TheBigBadFish
~akakamiwarrior
~BlackHowlingKiller
*little-yuuri
~dark-ayame182
~Saibz
^skifi
~sassatattoo
~ZedBunny
~<a class="u" href="http...

My classes are f***ing boring, I don't have my own computer yet, I had a seizure the night before the first day of class & got a canker sore, I accidentally broke the mirror on my car, I don't have my same TV setup & essentially gave up all my recorded videos, I already failed one f***ing test, & even right now my goddamn uncle says he gets to watch the big screen TV instead of me, because apparently I can't be on the computer & watch TV at the same time.
Well, I'm moving to P.E.I. on Thursday...Really starting to get nervous about it too. All I can say is that this video game programming course better be worth it. I do not want this to just lead to some to a job doing crappy generic software programming for the government. >_<

And f***, is getting the whole thing set up friggin' complicated! I have get put on wait lists, make several phone calls, take some sort of "qualifying" algebra test, & ask a bunch of employers & employees in the whole programming field some questions about their work just to get funding.

That last one has been the biggest bitch recently...& the stupidest. A lot of people just seem to be incapable of understanding the whole ordeal, even when I tell them I just want to ask them ten questions.

That last one actually led to some friends of my dad's. They said their son was in the business & may be able to help me answer some questions, so they said they'd call me about him.

When they did, they told me to Google him. This is what came up:

[link]

...The first two results pretty much say all. o_O

And that wasn't even just some guy with the same name. I told my dad's firends what I found, & they actually said this was the guy. So...They actually know what he's doing? And they thought he could help??

Man, if this is what I have to look forward to becoming after completing the course, please show me where I get to be labelled "dropout" ASAP.

Ah well, at least I'm getting a brand-new laptop out of the deal, courtesy of UPEI. Top-of-the-line fast s***, here I come!

Oh, & one last thing: Go f***ing see Tropic Thunder already if you haven't. I have (twice), & it easily ended up being the funniest move of the year for me so far. It was all amazing, but Tom Cruise & Robert Downey Jr. easily stole the show.

"I'm a lead farmer, motherf***er!!!"

Gold, I say. Gold.

See the newest Mini-DDs here: [link]

And check out the Mini-DD Archive here: [link]

Well, right now I'm in P.E.I. taking a bit of a vacation at my cousin's place...There's a family wedding going on Friday. I forgot exactly who's getting married, though...All I saw was chance to actually take vacation in eight frickin' months.

I also took a tour of UPEI, which I'll be attending in September (& actually moving into this place as a result), & F*** is that place luxurious! Well, okay, maybe not "luxurious", but it sure has more than UNB...Indoor pool, track, raquetball, several cafeteria, club, lounges...Like every building has some place to relax. It'd be paradise if it wasn't for the annoyances that come with the actual schoolwork. >_<

Had to sort through all of my magazines/books/comics/etc. to decide which ones I should take...And eegad, was there a lot hiding deep in those piles. Like a CD wrapper...For De-Loused in the Comatorium by The Mars Volta, dated 2003. Dare I ask how long it's been since I cleaned there. o_O

Also, random thought I had while reading Play...It turns out that the main character in Capcom's next-gen Bionic Commando game will be voiced by Mike Patton, the former lead singer for Faith No More. I thought it was an odd choice at first, but then checked & saw he did some other VA work for other video games as well...Namely The Darkness, Portal, & the upcoming Left 4 Dead. And all I could think was "Man, that guy's gotten into a lot of A-list games" & "This so makes Portal even cooler than ever". XD

Oh, & one final thing: I'm a freaking judge!! [link]

I'm feeling a bit flattered about being chosen to judge a major DA contest like that! COme to think of it, I should probably check the entries so far! Ah, let's see...Wha? ZERO ENTRIES??? O_O

Aw, for crissake, do I have beat the imagination into you people? Go check out the Eight Legs contest, draw something, then submit it! You can win some sweet prizes! After all, you'd have the only entry so far...Automatic win, baby! X3

Seriously though, enter it if you can. Great test of your skills there. Gotta go...Need to decipher some hints ^skifi sent with the note about judging as well.

See the newest Mini-DDs here: [link]

And check out the Mini-DD Archive here: [link]

Well, it's official: The Big N has officially hit it's downward spiral. The cracks have been in Nintendo's system for a while now, but this week they actually went & made a public apology to hardcore gamers for their mediocre, casual-aimed showing at E3...Thus letting their dark & sloppy side surface.

So Nintendo's image has officially taken a huge blow now. To some they're coming off as moneygrubbers putting out more shovelware (or to quote Penny Arcade, "We are rich as f***. Here's a bunch of s*** you don't care about."). So what can they do to rebound?

...

...

...Oh, you want me to answer that? Okay, I'll try.

1. Make up a new, original gaming franchise. And that doesn't mean another "simulator" like Nintendogs, Brain Age, or Wii [INSERTRANDOMACTIVITYHERE]. I mean a full-on, brand-new gaming franchise that can stand up among the liked of Zelda & Mario. Seriously, you haven't put out any new big names over here since Animal Crossing. Give us something fresh instead rehashing the same franchises & characters over & over. I mean, you've done some huge innovations in technology...So why not apply the same uniqueness in games already?

2. Have the "Seal of Quality" matter. In other words, stop handing it out to every piece of crap & shovelware designed for your systems. After all, that apology lost a lot of it's impact when I saw it next to announcement for new Wii & DS games based on Clueless, Mean Girls, & Pretty In Pink. You actually have people scared that another video game crash is coming, fro crissakes! Stop the madness & put a halt to these unholy abominations!

3. Stop with all the damn peripherals! Seriously, we don't need 'em to enjoy games like Mario Kart Wii. Just stop embarassing yourselves there.

4. Put more effort into Virtual Console. Come on guys, you've practically abandoned it by now. It feels like all the games coming out for it were just randomly picked. Donkey Kong 3? City Connection? Ninja Combat? There's a difference between obscure gems & just plain obscure. Speaking of the latter, get to more of them already! You want to apologize to the hardcore gamers? Then give them the cult hits they desire! And get a new SNES game up there! You haven't put up one since March! How sad is that?

5. Get Mother 3 out here already. Just do it. Not even just to prove you have some loyalty to the hardcore. Just get the masterpiece out here already.

Well, that's all I got. More business to take care of at the moment, so see ya until next time! ^_^

See the newest Mini-DDs here: [link]

And check out the Mini-DD Archive here: [link]

It would have been cooler if they'd done this with every poster possible, but I guess cleaning it all would've been a bitch.

I even got a copy of the DVD movie Batman: Gotham Knight to get help celebrate as well...It was pretty sweet! A lot like The Animatrix, & featured several cool anime-style visions of Batman...Right down to a bishie Bruce Wayne. XD

And in non-Batman news, this popped up for me here on DA this week: [link]

Well, well...!Kaphwan86, my old friend. I guess this drops some hints as to who !Uhsrom was as well (see the previous journal entry). Looks like my past is catching up with me...The worthless, pathetic parts of my past...

And oh, look. They left me a little present: [link]

...Of course, I didn't even waste precious clicking energy opening it. That whole site is swarming with bigots, whiners, racists, retards, bullies, douchebags...You get the point.

Though I'm guessing that they went for a cheap shot by mentioning the failure of eVo (my site)...& knowing Dutch Boy's previous attempts to insult me, he probably decorated the whole page with third-rate Photoshop & crappy .gifs repeated ad nauseum.

Ah, & the sad part is that these guys think they're actually hurting me. If Uhs' comments didn't get to me, this half-assed s*** sure won't. Yeah, like some Encylopedia Dramatica crap is really gonna break me down. You see, words...Are like bullets.

And they're a bunch of spastic Stormtroopers.

If anything, I should probably send them a thank-you basket, as this is probably the only way I'll be in the same class as `delya, *Endling, *bleedman, etc. XD I'm thinking moldy oranges, kiwis, & explosives might do.

Oh, & on one last random note: Don't get the Szechwan seasoned chicken at KFC. They just give you one of those "flavor packs" & have you shake the Szechwan on yourself. Might work for a bucket, but not for a single piece...Whatta rip...Eh, at least the honey garlic boneless bites were good.

Now if you'll excuse me, I've gotta try out the Joker's magic trick...^_^

See the newest Mini-DDs here: [link]

And check...

Alright, so a while back I was tagged by *Inspectornills (who is also starting up a kickass chibi project for original characters, plug plug), & therefore had do that "8 Facts About Yourself" meme, where you have to, surprise, list 8 facts about yourself in your journal.

The only problem? I've already done this meme before in my journal! So what now?

Well, just for the heck of it, I decided to do 8 facts...About my psychotic robot buddy (& original character), Fefcaine! Better check if he's okay with this, of course...Fef, you okay with this?

Umm, maybe...If you do it, can I have a cookie? A large one? ^_^

Well, yeah! Sure!

Yay!! Okayz, go ahead!

Well, alright then!

1. Fef's favorite hobby - Aside from gaming in general - Is to recreate his favorite video game weapons. His personal favorite is the frozen salmon from Dead Rising...Which he modified to shoot fire out of its mouth (& no, don't ask me how he got a frozen salmon to breathe fire).

2. Despite his destructive nature, Fef actually has thing for nature & the wilderness (at least now & then), & is actually interested in the conservation of wild, endangered species. Of course, when it comes to domesticated, un-endangered species...

3. Fef's favorite snack, hands down, is churros. In fact, one time he even went & purchased an entire vendor cart that was selling them. There was even more bouncing off the walls than usual that night, I tell ya.

4. Fef's favorite old-school video game (at least for the moment) is Power Blade for the NES. He apparently wrote a glowing review for it as well, yet he never told me what he did with it...

5. Since Fef was heavily modeled after GIR from Invader Zim (& built with some of the same technology), he practically considers the waffle-lover to be his distant brother, & one day wishes to meet him somehow.

6. Fef's absolute favorite TV show is Criss Angel Mindfreak. He always ends up ooh-in, ahh-ing, & worshipping Criss Angel as a god.

7. While the top part of Fef's head is shaped to look like a Reala-style jester's cap, it actually isn't a real cap. Fef often gets annoyed when people make this mistake (like asking him where he got his hat), & there's a rumor that he even killed a man over it...

8. Fef once tried his luck at being a Mexican wrestler, having been inspired by the fighting prowess of a friend even more bizarre than he. But that's another story (if I ever get around to it)...

...Well, those are all the facts I can think of for now! And heck, if you've got any other questions about Fefcaine or anything, feel free to ask!

Oooh, can I do the part where we pass it along to other people??

Well, that sounds fair! Just go ahead &...

Whee!! 8D Okay, I tag...Ummm...Val Tai & Kane & Leonard & Omni & Sandman & ST1X & J-Jet & Shrike!

Uh, Fef, I don't think you have to tag...Wait, I think those are other people's characters, it doesn't work like...

*gets salmon fired up*

...Well, looks like Fef just twisted this meme in a different direction! This may actually be quite interesting...^_^

See the newest Mini-DDs here: [link]

And check out the Mini-DD Archive here: [link]

It's just a WiiWare downloable game (for now) & it's going to have an 8-bit graphic scheme, all because you don't think a game like this would fit into a "grandiose world"?

Dude, you are bringing back a f***ing gaming icon after a 10+ year-long hiatus. And seeing how this "grandiose world" is full of suckers who purchased over a millions copies of friggin' Carnival Games simply because it was marketed towards "casual gamers", I think it's safe to say they would've gladly accepted a new 2D Mega Man game on the shelves!

Now, don't take any of this the wrong way. MM9 will rock. It's just that...I was hoping for something more. This a legendary series...I mean, I wasn't looking for any high-def, 3D, ultra-realstic crap or something...Just a game like the Powered Up remake, except on a slightly grander level.

It won't even get any big press now as well...Like EGM & the rest really devote a lot of attention to downloable games. Man, it could have been so much more...But Keiji does say everything hasn't been revealed. Maybe my hopes haven't been dashed after all...^_^

Oh, & one last thing conveniently realted to cute & heroic robots:

Go see WALL-E.

Seriously, if you don't like it, then you don't have a soul. Well, the deal is that I hate YouTube because every time I try to watch lengthy videos like those, THE DAMN THING SHUTS MY COMPUTER DOWN!!! >_<

Yeah! I'm just there watching a few videos, everything's going fine for the first few of them, then at some random time BLOOP! Everything just immediately shuts down. Long story short: It kicked ass. ^_^

Excellent popcorn flick, pure fun. I honestly don't know what much else to say...Sure, it wasn't the 100% perfect sequel we were wishing for, but it still rocked. Plus, anything with indestructible fridges, 55 MPH swordfights, & Indiana Jones dispensing justice to KGB psychics has to be awesome, right?

And in preperation, I watched the entire trilogy beforehand for the first time (yeah, I never saw any of them in full, so sue me). It was all astonishing, of course...But for some reason, Raiders just didn't blow my mind as much as I thought it would. I guess it's because in the 25+ years since it came out, it's kind of been referenced & parodied in pop culture so many times that the shock of seeing it all for the first time disappears a bit.
...But not together, of course.

First off, getting the sadder stuff out of the way, WTF is up with this: [link]

Emo kids actually being mass beaten, bashed, & banned (not shown in the online article) right in the streets of Mexico?? O_O I reapeat, WTF?? I mean, cripes, I know those kids can get on your nerves easily (for the record, music good, kids annoying), but this is just plain wrong, dammit. >_<

I mean, I can understand hating a certain subculture or a particular type of music, but to go & actually act violent towards the people who enjoy it? Messed up. And talk about some obvious parallels as well...

Well, thankfully, more cheerful stuff came in the form of this: [link]

Four brand-new, original gaming franchises? From the guys who brought us Viewtiful Jow & Okami, no less?? Hell yeah!! Just the kind of uniqueness I crave in the gaming world! Thank you, Sega!!

Bayonetta sure looks & sounds awesome, same with Infinite Line, but MadWorld is the big draw here. Not only does it look visually stunning, but anything featuring chainsaw arms, twisted games of death & an amount of violence so intense that the same people who buy used panties from vending machines may not even accept it all sounds pretty freakin' sweet indeed. ^_^

(...Um, & yes, I am aware of the irony about speaking out against one form of violence & while getting excited about another...Wow, I should've really thought this entry out more, huh? )

Well, gotta get sleep. Bye for now.

See the newest Mini-DDs here: [link]

And check out the Mini-DD Archive here: [link]

Yeah, it's pretty cool.
nekosavior: Do you want to see more?
SlyDante777: Okay!
nekosavior: Check this out: LINK
SlyDante777: Damn, that's some great stuff! Who drew it?
nekosavior: Some guy at this site here...

...& that's how I wound up here at DA. I'm pretty sure that's not how the actual conversation went (in fact, it may have been fan art of Felicia from Darkstalkers instead of Sly Cooper), but whatever the case, I have that one chat to thank for getting me here, where I found a bunch of new friends, mounds & mounds of amazing art, & some fun s*** to do. So props to all of you! ^_^

...And in case you still haven't figured out why the Hell I'm talking about this, it's my third year anniversary of when I first joined DA.
