..I'm glad we're running an article on the standards of education this week in Satellite, because.. It really isn't just an issue of maybe high school students will be in uniforms in two years, or that kids can't afford uniforms, or school safety, or..whatever crap they're trying to justify it with. It's really that the standards in this town and in this country are failing it's people, and we're falling behind. Because literally everything is affected by the education you receive when you are trying to prepare yourself for life.

I hate to be a silly Booker T. magnet school kid, but really. Every school should be held up to our standard, and there's no excuse why the schools in this town are not held the standards that I know Jenks, Booker T., and other high testing schools in this state are being held to. It's laziness on the part of the school board, and their failing their students by refusing to admit the facts.

That they're openly happy and fine with opening a million dollar complex to teach kids how to flip burgers and apply for a food-handlers license, instead of teaching them and encouraging them to take college prep classes. (Yes, really.)

And that they don't want to have to take money away from, say, a river development project, to educate their next generation.


And it's sad.

8 Random Facts.

1.) I plan on majoring in photojournalism, and minoring in linguistics/translation in college.

2.) I wish pretty much everyday I was a senior instead of a junior. Or better..A freshman in college somewhere.

3.) My room is black and purple..but not for long!

4.) I play the violin, and can roll out some stuff on the piano. And currently, I'm trying to dabble in some guitar, but nothing serious.

5.) I'm too hard on myself. Always.

6.) I'm..pretty obsessive compulsive. I pattern things and clean and fix when it's really probably fine the way it is.

7.) I really very lucky to go to the school that I do, and I definitely wouldn't go anywhere else.

8.) I fall pretty hard for people. And I should probably fix that.

As is uploading 200 RAW pictures at 500 DPI! But..I like to keep my quality.
Blech. I'm really not used to having so little to do after working so much last week en México.

On a completely unrelated note, I came home to a new camera. It's a Nikkormat (late 60's early 70's..I can't find a model number on it, and I'm too lazy to look.), with a niiice set up:

*a 70-210mm macro/telephoto 1st Series Vivitar
*a good basic lens.. 50mm f/1.4
* and a 20mm f/3.5 wide-angle, which is just hardcore.

I'm hoping for some film soon so I can fiddle around with it..See how good the wide-angle really is.

Luckily.. I have not splurged as of yet. I need to see how much my D-Fest ticket is going to cost..And then I'll maybe buy it. I don't need a fancy low light lens.. I mean, I'm not shooting for NG or anything, it's mostly going to be for Satellite, and my own enjoyment.

Anyone have any other suggestions as to a cheap (mildy cheap, please..I'm insanely poor at the moment.) low-light lens?'

Yay! I picked up the other Rollei from my uncle today..And there was film in it! It's about..20 years old, but I definetely want to see if it's got anything tangable on it. That'd be so cool.

I'm incredibly excited for this Route 66 trip.. It'll be such a blast shooting with these cameras that my grandparents used to shoot with, and just seeing Oklahoma again will be nice too. And the company. The company is always a lovely perk to any trip.

and, unfortunately, he was much more upset about it then I was. I feel like I'd been putting in everything, and recieving nothing in return. For the majority of the time.

The relationship deattached me from things I really enjoy, because I felt like I had to fit into the mold for him to enjoy being around me. And honestly..I hated it. I hated pretending to be interested, when I really wasn't.

I dunno. I guess I should let it sink in more. I just thought I'd be horribly upset, and instead, honestly, I'm ready to move on. Maybe not right this second, but soon.
