Lots of people on DA (heck, everywhere) sell works containing characters that don't belong to them. From novice artists to well-known professionals, I've seen galleries full of selling custom Pokemon/character plushies, or drawing fanart for conventions, which are then advertised as being available as prints at said conventions. This never struck me as, well... entirely legal? So what's the deal? Where's the line between "okay" and "you might get sued"? Or is everyone just taking a risk?

I've gotten a lot of notes asking about using my art for various things, so I figured it's time to make a journal that answers all of that for you.

As far as my art goes, I'm pretty lenient. If you want to use it as a desktop, go ahead! If you take inspiration and want to borrow poses, ideas, etc, go ahead! (I don't recommend it, as my anatomy isn't good and you'd be copying mistakes). If you want to use an Okami image as an avatar, cool! If you want to take a generic wolf/stars picture and use it on a blog, you can do that. A link to my gallery would be awesome. :) I'm happy you like it enough to want it.

How have you all been?

I just finished the first week in a long, long while in which I've been at school but gotten to RELAX. No concerts, no rehearsals, no homework, no practice sessions. I'm coming to the close of my Masters here, and the final step of performance was my Degree recital, which happened a little under two weeks ago.

It was SO FUN. I've been working for a few years on the music, and trained myself for countless hours just for endurance's sake. ^_^; I soloed on three instruments, and one of the pieces was even accompanied by a string orchestra. So... after years of considering it and then forgetting, I finally want to make myself a personal home page. For years I've been the maintaner of one of the oldest "Balto" sites on the web, but I want to create a website for myself, to host art, music, and info.

I've been running around like crazy recently because on Monday, after four years, I'm finally going to give my degree recital. :music: I've been working on it since August... basically, I get on stage, perform about an hour's worth of oboe music, and then the university can give me my Bachelor of Music degree. :sing:

Anyways... I apologize for my extended absence. I've underestimated how busy life was going to make me in the last few months... in August I attended a music program in California, and as soon as I got back, I was thrown into packing and taking my road test. At the beginning of this month I moved into my apartment at the university, and Comcast wasn't able to get out to hook up the internet for nearly two weeks.

I'm a person who draws art just for the heck of it - I specialize in wolves because everything else I draw plain stinks - and I'm happy with that. Art is all fun and recreation or boredom relief for me... but that doesn't mean that I'm not looking for ways to improve.

The anti-conservation Board of Game has just voted to allow up to 900 wolves to be killed by the barbaric practice of aerial gunning. This is six times as many as were killed last winter.
