I didn't get to check in here during Thanksgiving break because I was in ... BARCELONA!!1one. I'll spare you the details but five friends in the most beautiful city in Spain and possibly the world? Oh yes. It was wonderful. I have some great pictures too, that I'll upload for their artsy worth. And I discovered my favorite artist while there: the architect Antoni Gaudi. I encourage everyone to look him up.

I've also had the good fortune of FINALLY seeing the Goo Goo Dolls in concert. Most of our friends were wussies and didn't follow, but Kate and I managed to sneak up to the third row during the encore. Let me tell you, Im not really into older men, but Johnny Rzeznik is the hottest 40 year-old ever. It was a fantastic concert, and the boys were great with the audience, but I guess after 20 years of being a band, you learn quite a few things about working the crowd.

So over this break I planned to do all this writing and art! But I always say that... Turns out the best I've been able to do so far is clean out my deviation inbox (some 600 pieces x.x' ). Full-viewed everything, my dears, but Im sorry I didnt leave as many comments as I should D: But I did read descriptions! I hope that counts for something... I still have 900 messages (in faves, comments, and journals) but I might resort to skimming... But let me thank all new watchers! My love to you

There's still some time left on vacation, so I might get some art done yet. But again, never fear. If I've promised you something, you'll get it. It might be.. very late and you might hate me by then, but you'll get it! I never break my word. The patience of you people is just amazing. I love you bestest and you all deserve cookies.

The only thing about taking all lit courses is that all I do is read. I sleep, eat, go to class, come back, and read. I dont mind it, but it gives me little time for other things... Like art. Oh! And I go to the gym. I try to make it six days a week (leaving off Monday for rest, since I have the most class hours that day and the most reading due for the Tuesday), and it's been going pretty well. I usually drag Kate along with me. I've lost a deal of weight from it, which thrills me, but what surprises me the most is how much I enjoy it. I dunno... No work, nothing to think about.. I just listen to music for an hour and do my routine.

I guess that's enough rambling about my life. I just wanted to let you know Im not dead and why I've been so silent. It's all the READING. Reading and papers. I havent forgotten about any of my art obligations, so no worries! If you've been waiting a while I am so SO sorry! I havent forgotten, for sure, and I promise you'll get what I owe you once I find the time. I actually HAVE been trying to squeeze in some photoshop time (and i was doing so WELL), but then when I tried to open it yesterday... it didnt work. PS 6 and Illustrator will both load fine... But 7 will go through the whole 'initializing' phase, and when it should boot up, it closes instead. Has anyone else ever had this problem? If so, please help meh D: I probably just have to reinstall the program... But that also causes a delay because I dont have the CD with me. Soooo... Im sorry everyone D: Anyway. That's it. For real this time. Toodles.

It's not so bad, really... The header (where is says like... gallery stats and stuff) is what bothers me the most. Lots of wasted space (a compulsion of mine) by making everything vertical instead of the mix they had before. There's one thing that makes me laugh, though... It always bothered me about DA that it's like a scavanger hunt to find the "manage friends" and all other account stuff like that. I would have figured with the revamp, they might have made a "My Account" page and had a link readily available to it. It's so odd that it's just tucked away in the Message Center, dont you think?

I'm sure this is like... the 10th journal entry (at LEAST) that you've all gotten on this topic... But raise your hand if you dont like the new layout!!! It reminds me suspiciously of SheezyArt... and while this was supposed to be "more professional looking," I think it's just the opposite. It seems blocky, 'childish,' and disorganized. But maybe that's just a first impression...

Edit: Dont be insulted if you DO like the new layout! Feel free to comment that you do and why I'd like to hear the perks of the design.

Anyway, hi all! Being the genius that I am, I dashed out the door today without either my book OR my sketch materials... So here I am at work, on lunch, with nothing to do. For some reason today, I was just starving, so I wolfed down my yogurt and granola in ten minutes. Let me take the time to say: "Curse you Dannon you have failed me!" I've been getting their "Light 'n Fit" stuff and it's pretty much fantastic, but this strawberry bananna was just rancid. Oh well, better luck tomorrow. ... Arent you so glad I have nothing better to do that write this?

All right, Ill reign in the sarcasm. Sorry, it's the job that does it... Or at least, that's what Im holding to! So since Im bookless and artless, I figured I'd take it as a sign to catch myself up on DA, journal and message wise. So, what have I been up to the past month? ASIDE from shirking my artwork? TRAVELIN! Thaaat's right. Austria and Switzerland were just gorgeous. I wish I had more to say about it for you people, really... But the tour kept us so busy and we were moving every day/every other day that there wasn't really room for anything interesting to happen aside from sightseeing. I did however, get to eat Kudu one night (the south African antelope). It was very good - tasted like lean beef. Also, when I went into shops alone, the people would start trying to hold a conversation with me in German... Then I had to politely tell them I was an ignorant tourist that only spoke English. Aside from that? It was just... beautiful. Lush, green, bright, gorgeous

My second trip, however, was much more interesting. My mom and I flew down to Atlanta for five days to visit with and . Every year my mother and I go somewhere, just the two of us, and we always have a great time. The first half we just did the tourist thing; saw the Coke Museum, the Georgia Aquarium, the Fox Theatre, and Stone Mountain (which was SPECTACULARLY lame, but hey, my mom's a US history teacher and insisted upon seeing it). After the Botannical Gardens on the third day, we switched hotels and spent the rest of the time with Tabby and Toren. The first day we met at the mall with the parents and their mutual friend Derek. We roamed, bought a sketchbook, drew for over an hour in Barnes & Noble, and I took lots of pictures. ... UNFORTUNATELY, again being a genius, when my mom and I were on our way to the car, I sat down at a Foodcourt table to put on a bandaid... leaving both the sketchbook AND the camera behind when I got up. Both havent been seen since, much to my dismay. Allllll those pictures... AND my camera! But I wouldnt let it ruin things, and still had a great time at dinner with everybody. The next day was just the four kids. We started by going to lazer tag, then decided to go have lunch at a place called Dave and Busters, which is apparently like a dinner/arcade place. We got lost for an hour before finding the place (sounds just like me at home...), but finally made it. ... Only to be carded on the way in and turned out because none of us are 21. It was hilarious and frustrating all at the same time. But we made the most of it, cursing the idiot owners as we drove to a different mall so we could eat something. We spent the rest of the night browsing shops and being silly until the mall closed. The highlight of that excursion had to be Derek trying to buy MAC makeup in Macy's for his concert the next day. The women were looking at him like he was nuts. Then the next day we flew home. Oh! And somewhere in there, my mom and I caught a list on the news of the top five "Happiest Places on Earth," which are, least to greatest: Bahamas, Iceland, Austria, Switzerland, and Denmark. I was hysterical, considering I have an inside joke about Denmark being awesome and then having just been to the other top two. It made my day.

All in all, a great trip. The only rocky-ness was when my mom and I had to drive somewhere. The two of us always fight in the car, because she is the most anxious driver in the world. She hates being lost, but then doubts directions even when they are written MAPS. So... it makes things interesting! And luckily, with the whole camera thing, my dad took serious pity on me. He lost his first digital camera, too, and when I got mine he liked it so much he bought the exact same thing (right down the the number of memory cards). I just got back from my second trip this summer, and I still havent fully recovered from the first... So Im really sorry about being slow on comments and stuff. I still have 30 odd journals waiting.

Ok so... I usually dont mention my art status as to whether trades are open or anything because I like to decide on a whim whether I want to do one or not. Seriously, my mood changes from day to day so it's kinda pointless. But for NOW... since I have a huge backlog, if you dont want to be turned down, I recommend waiting a while Ill probably post something about when I feel less swamped, but for now, Im a bit overloaded.

OK! Onto order. I will be finishing all the sketches FIRST. They will be easiest for me to get out of the way and move on with. After that, Ill pretty much be going in the order things are listed. But if I get bored working on one, Ill skip to another, so dont hold me to that list XD Im only working through next week, so hopefully after that Ill be able to get a real move on these things!

It was really great to go back. There are four teachers there that are the kind you just cant forget. And all of them havent changed a bit. My art teacher is just the same as before, a very atypical mother hen figure with personality more volatile than a firecracker in an inferno. Mr. Batt, known by all as "the nicest man on earth," was kind enough to help me out with my career crisis and give some great advice. And of course Mr. Carden, the best teacher any of us have ever had, who can only be described as "an energetic Jon Stewart" - and even that doesnt do him justice.

Saturday to Sunday I was in Delaware. One of my best friends goes to U. Del. and bought a house recently for the next two years. They were having a housewarming BBQ party and I couldnt say no. The drive was a little over two hours, but the time passed very quickly... once I started license plate stalking. I was far too entertained by that. But I saw at least 30 different states!

Eesh, this journal is even more pointless and sloppily written than usual. It must be this office --; Yesterday it was so cold I had to use my lunch hour to drive home and pick up ANOTHER sweatshirt. I was already in one and it was still freezing. Then today, I - in all my infinite wisdom - decided it would be a good idea to wear a skirt. ... It's even WORSE than yesterday. I know it's humid outside, people, but that doesnt mean we have to recreate the arctic tundra in the office! Thursday Ill bring my winter jacket...

Tonight and tomorrow Ill be finishing that Misfit Pride entry DX OmgIcantbelieveIhaventfinishedyet! But I will. I swear. ... And then Im going to Austria and Switzerland. Our flight is on Saturday and Ill be gone for almost 2 weeks. I wont lie; Im excited. I wasnt really supposed to go - my dad wanted it to be just my mom and himself... But then my mom reminded him that without me, she'd bug him to do things the entire time. The two have very different ideas about what a "vacation" entails. He changed his mind very soon after that. Im not sure if Ill be allowed to bring the laptop yet... I really hope so, just so I can write. I havent gotten any writing done this summer, and it is bothering me to no end.

One thing that scares me though... All the DA messages Ill have when I get back ._. I was gone for like... 24 hours and I had something like 70+ new messages. I DONT EVEN WATCH THAT MANY PEOPLE D:

The gathering, as it would, was small. Eight people, including myself. It was said to be a "Sex and the City viewing party," but Irene forgot the DVDs, so we all sat around and just talked. After a couple of hours, however, Theresa called us all into the kitchen. I figured she had simply made another dessert for us to try (the woman is the Asian Martha Stewart, I swear) and sure enough, there was a large frozen mocha mousse cake on the counter. But then Reese apologized for it being a week late, and all of them started singing happy birthday to me. I was... so touched. It was just so thoughtful and sweet that they had planned it all and everyone showed up just to wish me a belated birthday. Haha, they seemed to care about the occasion more than I did! But that they did care and went out of their way... It just makes me so grateful for friends like them, and makes me realize why I've been friends with them for so long. These are truly, the best of people.

And then yesterday I met two of my best friends from college at Six Flags. My roommate, her boyfriend, her youngest sister, and I all went there for the free Lifehouse concert. We got on Nitro and the Congo River rapids before the show - and Kramer and I both got THROUGHOULY soaked. But it was hot, the sun was out, and it felt great. The concert was amazing, too. It was a small crowd so we got pretty close. They even had these girls come up on the stage because Jason Wade was amused by their dance moves. My only regret was not going up closer but oh well. Sadly, they didn’t sell any merchandise Next time! It was great, though! And wonderful to see my college pals again. It's been over a month x.x

So a great week, friends wise. I have a bunch of sketches, too, but they all need to be colored @.@ That's my goal for this weekend, if my mom doesn’t have me do all sorts of errands... Which I know she plans on.

Eeesh... Do I feel OLD. Who'd have thought I'd come to fear my birthday at this age :\ Arent you supposed to be at least 30 before that happens? But anyway, yes, I am well into "birthday season." My entire family are geminis, so starting with Mother's Day, it's a birthday a week. It's... interesting. To say the least XD By the time Father's Day rolls around, even my dad doesnt want to celebrate it!

Oh yes, and Im currently at work right now. Which might explain why this seems a little more flakey than usual :\ I had to get up early, and Im still on that "tired high." I've actually become extremely productive during my lunch hour... I've finished 2 sketches recently, started another, and have discovered this is a great time to catch up on messages! I dare say Im more productive on break than off... Which probably isnt a very good thing, actually ^^'

Now, I've been to the shore many a time, but it's been with family and whatnot. Thus, I have had a "pleasant" beachy time, but never the "stereotypical" one. Little did I know when I woke up on Thursday, all of that was about to change. We drove in two cars down to Point Pleasant, and the car with Dan, Amy, and I arrived first. Therefore, we were the first ones to get a glimpse of the glory that is... The Dunes Motel. It was such the characteristic run-down lowlife motel that I was beside myself with some odd glee (as were the rest of us). Peeling paint, shabby roof, grungy patio... the whole package! At this point, it was only 11:30ish, and too early to check in, so instead we parked the car and headed for the beach. It really was nice, if not a bit cold. The place was abandoned and we literally had the beach to ourselves. The other car turned up and all of us just hung out for a while before the original car plus our friend George decided to go to the boardwalk to get lunch and then check in. We couldnt all go because we had only reserved a room with 6, and if 8 of us turned up in the lobby, that probably wouldnt have gone over well. After strolling about the boardwalk for a while, we headed back to THE DUNES, and this is where it just keeps getting better and better. When we walked in, we were hit with the smell George rightfully placed as "stale cigarettes and weed." After a minute, a man with a thick Eastern European accent came out to greet us. He asked if we had a reservation and what the name was, and then rolled over in his chair to the computer. He searched a minute, before reaching back onto the desk and grabbing a big notebook. This is when I knew... They couldnt find our reservation. It took all my strength not to laugh. He asked for the first name, looked some more, then questioned "How many nights?" When Dan told him it was just for tonight, I could see his hope restored. He stood up and was like "Oh! Okey. Just de four of you?" Obviously there was no problem to just get a standard room for one night. But then Dan told him we reserved the room for six and his face sort of fell. He told us he'd be right back and left us for a minute, leaving us all to crack up at the ridiculousness of it all. He wasnt gone long before he returned with this huge smile on his face. He said: "You are neever going to believe dees! We are upgrading you to dee apartment for free! Because dee couch is meesing!" ... Anyone know how you "lose" a couch? Neither do we. Dan had the cheek to say "I hope you find it" and then I just lost it. I had to turn my back to hide it. He handed Dan the key and told us the pool wasnt ready yet, but would be in a couple of hours. Dan then asked if the pool was heated, in all seriousness, and I lost it a second time. Of course, the answer was "no." The whole session wrapped up with the man looking down to gather our receipt. While he was busy, Dan looked out the window to see the sun had come out, and said "Well, at least we'll have some sun!" Without missing a beat, his head still down, the guy waves a hand and goes "Dont worry! Dee sun vill come out later. It vill." ... As if he and the sun are close, personal friends. AND it was already shining.

So we left the lobby to inspect our new room, only stopping on the way to marvel at the numbered parking spaces. The went "10, 11, 12, 13, 15, 16..." Now... isnt 13 the number you are supposed to skip? After a chuckle, we went to the apartment and were pleasantly surprised. There were four beds AND a pull out couch, so enough room for all! There were some suspicious stains on the floor, but other than that it was really nice! So we put our bags down and went back to the beach. When we ran into the others and passed the key, we told them the whole story, but made it seem as if we'd gotten a downgrade, just to mess with them. Two of them left and we waited for the call. About 15 minutes, later Dan's cell rings, and we hear the following one sided conversation: "Hi. ... Haha. Yea. We were just messing with you. ... Yea... yea- ... What? *with concern* ... Really? ....... Are they on.. ALL the beds? ... Okay well, go down to the lobby and tell them." ... Sooo... Turns out Kaitlyn went to sit on one of the beds, and was there for about a minute before bugs started crawling ALL OVER HER. Tiny little bugs. The girl wigged out (with good reason), and that was what had happened during the second half of the conversation. So the place wound up giving us two regular rooms, which were still good because they fit the 8 of us (and we of course checked THOSE rooms for bugs). We spent a few more hours on the beach before heading back. So he, I, and six others are going to the Jersey shore for the day. We're actually staying there overnight (in a room that holds only 6 people... hmm...), so Im gone until Friday.

It is quite glorious... My cousin allowed me to move my "off" day to Thrusday this week, then let me take off Friday as well. And with Memorial Day off, that makes for one looooooong weekend! Imsoexcited! ... But one thing, if I may... How on EARTH am I busier on summer vacation than I was all school year?! That isnt right... not at all. Honestly, I am NEVER backlogged on DA. I check my messages here more than my e-mail! Yet, Im finding myself way behind on ALL my messages x.x To those I havent commented on or responded too, Im sorry D: Ill get to it! This weekend, hopefully. And my art projects are taking a beating too... Nyyyyg... Must finish Misfit Pride Icon!

So it's been a week since classes ended. After all the chaos and all the finals, I got... the same exact grades as last semester XD I'd be disappointed... If I hadnt thought I'd do WORSE in Physics. Thus in the end... not so bad.
What was hard was leaving the dorms. It wasnt nearly so bad as last year, since we actually had time to brood then and my roommate left a day before me. It was rough with that empty room, being all alone, freshman year. But still, moving out is always sad, even though this year we all left together. You get used to seeing your friends everyday.

But still... SUMMER! AND, after 4 days of it, my mom already had me working! x3 Oh well, it gets me away from the house, if anything. Im working for my cousin at a publishing company, complete with computer, stapler, and cubicle. The corporate world is way different than retail. It's so much more relaxed and low key. That said? They have me opening "return to sender" letters and figuring out why they didnt make it to the companies. I sit in front of a computer for hours trying to get addresses. I want to gouge out my eyeballs... or, more realistically, fall asleep. I miss Borders, but when the job pays twice as much and has all these perks? I'd be a fool to turn it down. On the plus side, though, I talked to my cousin at a family party yesterday and asked if I'd be able to work four days a week, Wed being the off day, and she said it was no problem at all. So instead of five days straight, it's two and two. THAT I think I can handle... It makes me unrealistically happy to have that day off.

So the summer's been pretty good so far ^^ There's only been one snag... Anyone who had the patience to read some of my earlier rants knows about the situation with a former friend. It was supposed to have been settled. I agreed to forgive and we were to make amends. I'll spare you kind people the details, but she's failed to hold up her end. When I finally decided she was no longer worth the effort, the disaster flared up again. Uhg x.x There'll probably be a whole rant on the issue once it's "resolved." ... Which will probably wind up with me telling her exactly what I think of her.

Artwise, I thought I'd be way further on my To Do list D: Sorry guys!! Im working on stuff, I swear! Im also behind with all my DA messages and comments x.x I though I was supposed to have MORE time with classes out? s for you all.

Honestly, cumulative finals from a semester alone are bad enough. A cumulative of the entire YEAR? That's just evil. I have trouble remember what CLASSES I took, let alone what I was supposed learn! I spent the entire weekend studying two full spiral ring notebooks full of chem notes. And I some how squeezed in some physics studying, though not much. I didnt even bother looking over Brit Lit, since it was open book, open notes anyway. But uuuuuhg. If I ever get a hold of the genius who rearranged the exam schedule... Three finals in 24 hours with no reading days... x.x Idiots.

BUT! It's over!!! And all I have left to do is write a paper before Friday for my favorite class. Half of tomorrow is going to be dedicated to doing NOTHING. I think Ill lie on the lawn in the sun. It's been so miserable x.x Trudging back and forth to study and seeing people just lounge around in the gorgeous weather on towels. More than once, my friends and I have been tempted to ask if they have finals to study for. Jealousy is an evil demon indeed. And my daddy's coming down tomorrow to take some of my stuff home, which is wonderful for two reasons. One, it makes move-out on Friday far less hectic, and two... I love my father :\ And maybe he'll take me out for lunch so I can have REAL food >>;

I cant wait to get that paper done. Then Ill actually be able to get back to work on my many little art projects. Wheeeeeeeeeeee.

It is now officially 3am. 3 finals and a weekend of studying are behind me... Im overtired, over caffeinated, and waaaaaay too wired. If you read this incoherent ramble, I love you. And I hope you excused all the typos...

And let me tell you... What a class. For two semesters I have had General Chemistry at 8 in the morning, and that is no easy task. All my other classes are late, so my schedule is basically nocturnal. Ever go to bed at 3/4am and have to get up at 7am to try and FOCUS on chemistry? Yea, it doesnt work well. But today wasnt bad. We went in, he gave back the tests we took on Tuesday, briefed us about the ACS (American Chemistry Society) standardized final, and released us to fill out the teacher evaluation sheet. He only spoke for about 15 minutes.

Seriously, everyone loves this guy. He is this old, thin, grandpa-ish professor that is just the nicest person. The people who had him for both semesters were so depressed it was over, even if we HATED the subject. A bunch of us went to his office after just to say "goodbye." I wanted to ask him about the test (as I worry for my grade because of it...) and he basically told me because of my good attitude towards the class and the rest of my marks, if I did well on the final I'd get an A in the course. Pretty sweet deal. Afterwards, everyone else had gone, so then it was just my lab group (four of us all together) and Professor Dumas. The man seriously adores us because we are this quartet of goodnatured girls that, though not all of us get the best grades, try really hard and are always really fun to have in lab (our anitcs in that alone give us major brownie points). We've known he's liked our lab group most since first semester. All of us just stayed and talked to him for a good half hour, about nothing in particular. And seriously, for me to choose staying in a chemistry building to talk over going back to sleep is saying something. The man must love us even more now. In the end, though I could have only been awake 30 minutes before going back to bed, I pretty much spent the whole class time there, between the 30 minutes in the room and the 40+ around his office. Oh well. It was worth it. We all had some laughs.

And now the studying begins. 72 hours of study hell commences now, and lasts until Monday when I enter 48 of testing torture. This goes out to you, all you exam people in my position. Come Tuesday at 10:30pm, I shall regain my freedom! May yours come sooner!

It wasnt a total bust though. My best friend Ally was home this weekend because her family had tickets to Tarzan. We all ate dinner together and hung out before our preformances. It really was a lot of fun, and she talked to me when she got back, telling me her show wasnt that great either. Haha, figures. Disney should have stuck with Aida.
I also got to hang out with Ally and another best friend of mine, Katie, on Friday. Ally was getting over a cold, so we couldnt go out or anything. Instead we went to our town's Starbucks, the hang out for all the young yuppies, and just talked for three hours straight. The conversation never lagged, we were laughing, joking, serious, sad, happy... And we could have kept going for hours. We pitited the Starbucks staff, though so we left at quarter passed 11. But I digress. The point is, there is something very special about my old time pre-HS friends. We never tire of each other, never fight... I dont deserve them. They rock so.

In other news, two weeks left of school. One week of classes, one of finals. This should prove... Interesting. Ill be working from now until then on school stuff, but afterwards I hope to get a whole mess of artstuff done :3 I... SOMEHOW... seem to have acquired a lot of stuff on my plate. And summerbirthdaysarecominguptoo! Eeee >< Ill have stuff this year! I SWEAR!

In OTHER news, that is not related to my freaking out about my future career, I had an assignment for Systems of the Brain due today. It's a great course with my favorite professor, but we havent met since before spring break. Her cancer returned, so now that she's sick we just have to do the "work" on our own. It's not much so... Almost like the class doesnt exist. BUT, last night I had to watch one of three archieved Princeton lectures and summerize it. I chose this one from May 10, 2005 on Nature and Nurture. And it waaaaas... Absolutely fantastic. It was about the interaction between genetics and nature, and the speaker's point was that it is not nature versus nurture, but nature nurture. Im a huge genetics geek so maybe that's why I liked it so much XD But he was VERY funny, and he made it very simple to understand. It's really worth watching - the video says it is an hour long, but he only speaks for like... 35 minutes and then it's all just question and answer.

And I'd like to give a huuuuuuge thank you to all my friends and all my watchers for putting up with like... over a week of pure ANGST! Like I said before, Im very rarely stressed or upset to the point I melt into a pool of misery. I can pretty much deal with any problem on my own or with some help from my family and friends... But when there's a problem with family OR friends? Since they mean the world to me? I have no idea HOW to react. This is the first time since 5th grade I've ever had a dispute with someone I really cared about, so I didnt even know what to do! So yea... But now that it's all over, I can promise to be back to my normal, happy self :3

Oh, and a sidenote. I usually dont pay mind to kiribians or anything but 10,000 is kinda on the horizon. It seems like a considerable milestone I sorta think 0_o However, I am a very very lazy person... But, if you get the 10k hit, screencap it and send it my way. I just finished my midterm for my Brit Lit class. I'd been very diligent, working on a little each of the last four days of break. I decided I'd save the last part for tonight, figuring it would be the easiest. The rest was all relating works we read in class to ideas of the time periods and such. Lots of mini-essays. The last part was to write a poem. I mean... How hard could that be?

Now, anyone who knows me knows I almost bleed school pride. I love this place, but the past few weeks have opened my eyes to all the faults. Idiots e.e; Kids run the programs adults should. Biased children dictate what clubs get funding and which dont, and because of that, the funding for all new sport clubs has been cut to give more money to CUB so they can bring in better musicians. What the hell? Die, SFB. Die.

Honestly? Want an example of just how evil SFB is? Well, you get one, like it or not. My floor won $75 from Community Competition at the beginning of the year. We could spend it HOWEVER we wanted. Food, t-shirts, ping pong table... What did we vote on? Giving it to a charity so a sick baby could get a heart transplant. Awww, yes I know. But what does SFB say? NO. Because that wouldnt provide a formal receipt. But they suggested we use the money to buy things for a bake sale then donate what we make to the family! WHOO HOO! Christ... No good deed goes unpunished, right? If we'd been selfish and just bought food for a party there wouldnt have been any problems, but try to be a decent person and you get more work laid on you.

So yes. A rant about housing sucking, Residence Hall Association sucking, and SFB sucking. If there is any consolation, once RHA shot down our proposal without even listening all the way through, my CA from last year (now in charge of the whole building as an ARD) came up to three of us and asked if we wanted Office Assistant jobs... Which would guarentee housing. Basically by doing that she bypassed the application system, and is majorly pulling strings for us. It's a really easy job, and if she pulls through, I owe her big time. Man... it does help to have friends in high places... And for those friends to be totally awesome people.

Alrighty. Good to get that off my chest. Be glad that is the SUPERabbreviated version. 2 weeks of drama down to 4 paragraphs. That's gotta be breaking a record somewhere.

Oh, and an art update: Im trying... But I just dont seem to have any good ideas because stress is pushing them all away. Im really trying to be more on top of things this semester and already there's major work to be done. But after this week, I hope to have something worth putting here. Ok. Toodles. I love you guys.

Break was fun. Lots of running around and seeing all my HS friends, hung out with the college girls for three days, two nights, ... Lots of other things. Saw Spamalot with a best friend of mine and got to go backstage and meet Hank Azaria and David Hyde Pierce, so that was awesome... Went to the Odd Couple, but Nathan Lane was sick so they cancelled the preformance and gave us new seats, which are better but are for April. I worked... Man, the time went so fast and I was doing so much but now it's all a blur XD I saw movies and read some things (like Memoirs of a Geisha which I LOVED), but I didnt get to write or draw anything really. Save a few sketches here and there. But I got to work on my trade in my spare time so that makes me feel a bit better >>

Yes... Pointless update. If anything note-worthy turns up, I'll write about it. For now... I have some art which I refuse to upload until I finish my trade, so thanks for being so patient. I also have a new story idea (inspired by a dream) that Im really excited about ^^ And I suppose that's it. Done with Latin. Forever. Took the final yesterday. Thank god.

The rest of this entry is just a very long rant about a concert I went to and other pointless things. So unless you are very bored, REALLY interesting in my boring life, or in love with Gavin DeGraw or Lifehouse, you might want to skip this. I dont want to waste your time.

In other news... A radio station in my area was sponsoring a big holiday concert. It was called PST's Winter Wonderjam, and it featured Natasha Bedingfield, Liz Phair, Ryan Cabrera, Bowling for Soup, Gavin DeGraw, and Lifehouse. Anyone who knows me knows I adore Lifehouse, as do a fair number of my friends. When I first heard about the show, I tried to get a group together to go, but it just fell through. Understandably, I was pretty bummed, but I tried to cheer myself up by saying they're be a next time. Then last week, my friend IMed me and asked if I "wanted to go to this concert in Trenton on Monday." It killed me, because I knew my Latin final was the next day... But I knew it was the same concert. SO... I took it as a sign and said I'd go >>; On the condition that brought my Latin to study between performances. Im a dork, I know, shut up. I needed to do well on that last test. I also promised that I'd study all weekend and that this would be my "study break" for the day.

So we go to the concert and at the door they are selling T-shirts. Nothing Lifehouse... and no shirt that had pictures of all the performers, so I was not interested. They did have a promotion, however, where if you bought a $25 Gavin shirt, you got a bracelet that let you meet him after the show. Now, he had the same promotion when he came to our school last month, and the shirts were $15 and I wouldnt spend the money. So there wasn't any way I was going to pay ten more then. But my friend and her mom and step dad did, and I decided I'd pass the time studying while waiting for them afterwards.

Our seats were pretty good. On the floor, in the middle of the back section, and from there we watched Natasha, Liz, Ryan, and Bowling for Soup. Bowling were awesome - they definitely had the best stage presence. Very funny and interactive with the audience x3 I wanted to take the main guy home with me. But while they were on, Rach and I decided we'd try to move as close as we could once Lifehouse came on. But, as her mom was really interested in Gavin, we thought we'd try to see how far we could get to him as a test. So we strode right up to the middle of the middle section where there were countless empty seats, and just decided to stay there. I lent my camera to her step dad to get Gavin pictures for her mom, as I wasnt interested, and off he goes into the crowd. Ten minutes later he returns with insanely close pictures and I demanded to know how he managed it. He explained how he just cut across rows and took pictures until the security guy motioned him up and let him take one from the front row. He then promised to show me how once Lifehouse got on stage.

And he was true to his word. As soon as they started playing, I managed to move up to the 7th row. It was incredible. There had been a lot of young kids that all left by this point so there was a lot of space. I was taking pictures like a mad woman, until some girl said to me "he's trying to get your attention." I look over and see she means the security guy, who motions me forward and tells me to take my picture "from here," meaning the front row. I tried to be as fast as possible and then scurried back to the fourth row to resume staring in awe at the very sexy Jason Wade. And then... suddenly... Half the front row just LEAVES. I looked at the security guard and motioned if I could go into the vacant seats. And he nodded in that "sure, whatever, I dont care I got my paycheck" type way. I have... never been so excited ._. They were... RIGHT THERE. This explains my new desktop x3 And they were amazing. I got to hear them sing "You and Me" from the front row. And then Gavin came back out and once they'd finished the song, he and Jason harmonized the refrain together. And. I have it. All. On video ._. Thanks to my wonder little Digital Elph camera. Far better souvenir then any t-shirt.

And it doesnt end there. After the show, I waited for Rach and her family to come back from meeting Gavin. They were all ecstatic, and after much wheedling, convinced me to take one of their bracelets and go down myself. But by the time they managed to get one off, it was all torn and disheveled and OBVIOUSLY not mine... But somehow they let me in anyway. I am done with Latin class forever!

Yes, it is that worthy of celebration that I had to update all my watchers on the fact. I still have the final to muddle through, but there will never be a new latin sentence that I will be forced to translate ever. again. God what a horrid class...

A 5pm lecture on Tuesday was my last class... And to make it worse, he must have stopped on three seperate occasions to ask why we'd shown, tell us that he told his daughter to cut her last class and come home, and say other such things that just further depressed us about still being in session. I'd seen people walking out of the dorms with all their stuff since 3:20. I was not a happy student. I just... crashed when I got home... To wake up the next day and go through an anual cooking tradition with my sister and mother the following morning and afternoon. And then the three of us left my dad at home and went to see a movie, then got back at 1am. Next day was Thanksgiving and we drove up to The Chart House in Weehawken for that, and obviously that took all day Friday was just crazy x.x I got up at 11, went out with my friend at 12, ate lunch (or breakfast...) before seeing at 2:45 movie, then got home around 5:30, ate, had a POSSE of friends turn up to say hi at around 7:30, talked with them until more people wanted to meet at Starbucks. Hooked up with them at 9:15 and then we all went to the movies again. Saw a 10:20 showing of Goblet of Fire, went to the diner afterwards... Aaaand.. Got in at around 2:30. It was hectic as anything but awesome x3 Saturday I went shopping for desperately needed winter wear with my mother until 7:30pm, went out again with friends from the following night, got in late again... And then Sunday was back to school. x.x Quite the all over the place. But winter break is coming up and as it's longer, Im sure it wont be quite as crazy.

So back at school now... And at this point I have a week and a half of classes left. Three. More. Lectures in each class. I am so close to being done with latin forever. It's become my new obsession, never having to do that language again. Im so excited. My CA and I are throwing a "done with latin party" when we come back from winter break. Yes. It is THAT big a cause for celebration. Evil subject. Anyway, yes, holidays soon. And you can certainly tell by the decorations in the dorm halls. Last year it was not allowed, but they changed the rules so we are going all out. Our plans for a Christmas tree in the lounge were dashed upon the rocks, but that didnt stop us. Myself and my friends in the room next door outlined our doorways with lights and tinsel, then strung icicle lights in the fifteen foot span between. We've also wrapped the doors, put up ribbon, and have plans for much more. And the CAs approve! Except... for one ¬¬ The evil CA from the 6th floor who hates us and is bitter that we are perfect while she is stuck with demon children. She made up some bs about the middle lights being illegal because they were connected to another set of lights around the doorway, and that the wires were too thin for the connecting and caused a fire hazard. ... Ok... THINK about this. These are heavy duty outdoor lights MADE to be strung together for decoration. We got so angry we called our old CA who is now in charge of the entire building next door (a promotion WELL deserved). She came by, looked everything over, and is going to see what she can do for us. Yay for awesome CA Katie.

That's about it for the holidays thus far. The only other thing that happened between journals was of course... Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. Saw the midnight showing of that one, baby. There's an AMC 24 plex 20 minutes from our school, so we went there. They were showing HP in 7 theatres, 5 of which were sold out. And, no exaggeration, our cinema sat 300 people. It was the biggest movie theatre I've been in. AND... it was awesome. Honestly, first Harry Potter movie that I liked in the SLIGHTEST. This director was amazing, and I think they did a wonderful job cutting down on material. Of course stuff was left out, but I think they were very wise in what they cut and what they didnt. But I took it and it's over and I feel ten times better It was also my first class in college thusfar where I HAD a midterm that counted for so much of the class percentile. Yes, but anyway, it's over. It wasnt terrible, but she's a staunch translation grader so I could have anything from an A to a C, depending on how she's feeling. Oh well, Im done and I have midsemester break in front of me!! Only one last thing I have left to take care of before I get back to normal. I hope it goes well.

Stupid TCNJ STILL hasnt told us the results of the mural competition :\ Or anything else for that matter. They are waiting for the results of the "t-shirt contest," which is bull because that deadline was BEFORE the murals. But oh well. With any luck, they'll have it when we come back from Midsemester.

AS for midsemester break... I intend to enjoy it fully ^^ Just... relax at home. See my friends and such. I am working at Borders Sunday and Monday to fullfill my contingency requirements. Im kinda not thrilled about the two days - I only wanted to work one - but I get to see all the great people that work there again! So that makes it worth it.

Now for art related issues. I have decided I will not be doing any new art until I finish my trades. They are my first priority >< I feel bad it's been taking so long as is! Im sorry guys ;-; Ill have them done soon! I intend to work on them like a maniac over this break.
On a side note, I curse my writing muse for being in a coma e.e Stupid thing.

During my second month of college, our professor gave us a pop quiz. I was a conscientious student and had breezed through the questions until I read the last one: "What is the first name of the woman who cleans the school?"

Surely this was some kind of joke. I had seen the cleaning woman several times. She was tall, dark-haired and in her 50s, but how would I know her name? I handed in my paper, leaving the last question blank. Just before class ended, one student asked if the last question would count toward our quiz grade.

"Absolutely," said the professor. "In your careers, you will meet many people. All are significant. They deserve your attention and care, even if all you do is smile and say "hello".

I've never forgotten that lesson. I also learned her name was Dorothy.

Second Important Lesson - Pickup in the Rain

One night, at 11.30 p.m., an older African American woman was standing on the side of an Alabama highway trying to endure a lashing rainstorm Her car had broken down and she desperately needed a ride. Soaking wet, she decided to flag down the next car. A young white man stopped to help her, generally unheard of in those conflict-filled 1960s. The man took her to safety, helped her get assistance and put her into a taxicab. She seemed to be in a big hurry, but wrote down his address and thanked him.

Seven days went by and a knock came on the man's door. To his surprise, a giant console color TV was delivered to his home. A special note was attached.. It read: "Thank you so much for assisting me on the highway the other night. The rain drenched not only my clothes, but also my spirits. Then you came along. Because of you, I was able to make it to my dying husband's bedside just before he passed away. God bless you for helping me and unselfishly serving others."

Third Important Lesson - Always remember those who serve

In the days when an ice cream sundae cost much less, a 10 -year-old boy entered a hotel
coffee shop and sat at a table. A waitress put a glass of water in front of him

"Fifty cents," replied the waitress. The little boy pulled is hand out of his pocket and studied the coins in it.

"Well, how much is a plain dish of ice cream?" he inquired. By now more people were waiting for a table and the waitress was growing impatient.

"I'll have the plain ice cream," he said. The waitress brought the ice cream, put the bill on the table and walked away. The boy finished the ice cream, paid the cashier and left.

When the waitress came back, she began to cry as she wiped down the table. there, placed neatly beside the empty dish, were two nickels and five pennies.. You see, he couldn't have the sundae, because he had to have enough left to leave her a tip.

Fourth Important Lesson - The obstacle in Our Path

In ancient times, a King had a boulder placed on a roadway. Then he hid himself and watched to see if anyone would remove the huge rock. Some of the king's wealthiest merchants and courtiers came by and simply walked around it. Many loudly blamed the King for not keeping the roads clear, but none did anything about getting the stone out of the way.

Then a peasant came along carrying a load of vegetables. Upon approaching the boulder, the peasant laid down his burden and tried to move the stone to the side of the road. After much pushing and straining, he finally succeeded. After the peasant picked up his load of vegetables, he noticed a purse lying in the road where the boulder had been. The purse contained many gold coins and a note from the King indicating that the gold was for the person who removed the boulder from the roadway. The peasant learned what many of us never understand!

Every obstacle presents an opportunity to improve our condition.

Alright... So there is the class update. Kudos to those who actually read it. Now... I must rant about something that happened today. I warn you, it RELATES to politics, but I promise, it has nothing to do with political stance! It's just general. However, Im giving you fair warning. Now then... On to the conflict.

So four of us were walking to lunch to meet the others. My friends Kate and Dave were in front of myself and Alex. I happened to glance over and see the flag was at half mast. I commented on it, wondering if they had simply forgotten to raise it after Labor Day. Alex then suggested maybe it was because of Chief Justice Rehnquist (who died this weekend). The following converstation took place.

Me: "Ugh. Now TWO spots are open. Bad. BAD BAD! *hitting fist for emphasis*" (Ok, that is the ONLY part of this that relates to sides, I swear).

Alex: "Well... the courts dont really affect me, so I dont really care."

Me: "... The SUPREME Court does, sweetie.."

Alex: "Well, they arent really deciding anything major right now."

Me: "... Uh, what about abortion and gay marriage?" (REGARDLESS of your view on these issues, the point is, they ARE major issues)

Alex: "Eh. Neither of those issues affect me, so I don't care"

Me: "... ..... ...But they affect your FRIENDS!"

Alex: "*shrug* It doesnt matter to me much. Im not affected - Im just neutral in this."

Ok, time out... You have to understand, out of my group of like... 15 friends, most are guys. And Alex is one of 3 of those guys who ISNT GAY. He also said this in Dave's presence, who is probably the most flamboyant of those who are. To say he didnt care when it would have such affects on people he hangs out with every day... Just... sl;kdrghldksjfd!! WHAT THE HELL?! Ok.. Let me state that I am a very laid back person. You can tease me, torment me, and joke with me... And I wont care. But ONE THING that I CANNOT STAND is ignorance of this kind. Politics WILL rile me. IF however, you clearly state you dont take a stand because you dont know enough about the issue or politics in general... That's one thing. That Im TOTALLY cool with. Kate is like that. BUT, if you are just so OBVIOUSLY IGNORANT and still see nothing wrong... Honestly, perhaps this ONE TOPIC doesnt concern you... But how the decision is made will govern future issues, and also has immediate impacts on society, economics, and other very very influential spheres. And to claim NEUTRALITY! That isnt neutral... That's EVIL! And not even evil in the "Evil Republican" or "Evil Democrat" sense... Just EVIL EVIL! You just dont care about other people! *fumefumefume, rantrantrant* Sorry... Borders was great. I absolutely adore that job - everyone there was so much better than at Friendly's. People were nice, customers (for the most part) weren't demons... And I made a lot of friends I actually intend to KEEP from there! In fact, I liked it so much, I became a contingent worker so I would be able to return next summer without question. All I need to do is work 8 hours every three months. So... that means 1 day every three months. Rock on.

In the way of vacations... I went here and there. Lots of random trips to the shore and stuff. Tons of movie runs and just good ole hanging out with friends. One or two trips into the city proved quite interesting. NYC is always an adventure, especially when you are just a group of girls. People are either REALLY nice or REALLY freaky. We got a little of both. Perhaps the highlight was having strangers sing happy birthday with us into a cell phone for a 's birthday and when the entire kareoke store gathered around us when we jumped in the doorway and started singing Defying Gravity with the soundtrack Good times. But the best vacation was going back to Triangle X Ranch in Moose, Whyoming. It's in the Grand Teton National Park, adjacent to Yellowstone. That place... is just breathtakingly gorgeous. And if you like to ride, it's heaven. It offers THE MOST hardcore trails. The wildlife and the scenery... It's just unexplainable. I might post some of the prettiest pictures in my scraps, if I get the urge. But it was awesome. I cant wait to go back again.

Yes, but that was summer... And now summer's over. I just moved back to college two days ago. I must say... Much more room that last year. Decker Basement is awesome - all the people are REALLY geeky! ... Just like us. So we all get along really well. And our CA is (though not as cool as our old CA) very cool. CA Mehgan is all into competition and community so I anticipate a great time to be had by all residents. Plus, since the 11 of our group from last year are ALL on this floor... We are like the clique to be in x3 It's sad when I think about it too long... But sorta cool, since when we do things, there are so many of us going it inspires other people to join. We intend to kick ass and take names in the Community Competition things. Hopefully, we will win that pingpong table for the photo scavenger hunt. We had 18 people doing it last night when other floors are having trouble rounding up the required 5. Yes... this WILL be a wonderful year.

Classes started today... But I think Ill wait until the week is over to sum up that. I'd hate to speak too soon. So far, though, so good.

And finally... A creativity status update. It seems I am LESS productive during the summer, art and writing wise than during the school year. I think it's because there is so much less structure, and so many more spontaneous things that I just seem to find myself neglecting my creative endevours... How depressing is that? It saddens me greatly, actually. HOWEVER! The school year has begun... And hopefully that will mean a revival of those old skills. I MUST finish that short story that was started ages ago, and finish another combination of three... Not to mention all the collabs x.x As for art... My trade and gift people, I HAVE NOT FORGOTTEN! I will uphold my end of the agreement, I swear to it. Hopefully, Ill have stuff up soon.

Yay. Major update complete. And still one hour left before Im due to set of for Physics. Excellent. Peace out, kids.

UNTIL yesterday... So, I was sitting, minding my own business... When out of no where my good friend Z IMs me. She sent me a link and then said "Wow! This looks so much like you!" I wondered a minute, seeing it was a ".pif" file. I was very much "what the hell is that?" But I figured... It was Z, and it sounded like something she'd send me. Biggest moronic move I've ever made. Coinicidentally, it resulted in accquiring the worst virus I've ever had. The damn thing proceeded to send itself to everyone on my buddylist multiple times. I freaked, shut off AIM, ran two virus scans which found nothing, reset in safe mode and reran them, still found nothing, then finally posted on an online tech support forum where they gave me instructions on how to destory the thing. I was so happy to have it gone x.x If anyone contracts this virus, btw, and needs help getting rid of it, I'd be glad to pass on the info given to me. Just drop a note.

So yes... I discovered I need the real McAfee and not the bogus freebie my school gave me... AND a firewall. I did not know I did not have a firewall. I must. Get. A firewall. End Transmission.

Speaking of money... YAY for working at Borders! I think that if you waking up not loathing going to your job... It's definately a good sign. Both my co-workers and the vast majority of the customers are really nice. As for just being to confined to the register... Time actually does fly pretty fast, especially if there is just a constant stream of people to ring up. The problem is I fear Im going to spend all the money I make on the books There are just so many I want... I will admit, this weekend was a little frustrating. Not because of the job itself, but because I worked Friday through Memorial Day and all my family was home just lounging while I was working. BUT! I got paid time and a half today because of the holiday. So I kept telling myself that and I was suddenly happy again
The only other drawback is that I am not allowed to take off the day Harry Potter & tHBP comes out ;-; The entire staff has to be on call July 15-17. But it's sorta cool, because the store is having a party beforehand with all crazy fanstuff. Wheee. Ill fit right in!

On a final note... It is with much glee I see all my highschool friends once more. I them so. ^^ This also allows me to fall back into being a movie junkie, a status I slowly gained over the 4 years of high school. I can already check Madagascar and Star Wars III off the list. Speaking of which.. What did you all think? Im not a big Star Wars fan, but my friend is. He hated eps I and II but thought Lucas redeemed himself with this one. All I know is that I liked it. Some of the acting was laughable, but come on... Jedi are just cool. And Yoda is the shiznit. Personal favorite parts? When Order 66 was executed (the filming and just everything about it was very powerful) and when the Chancellor declared the reordering of the Senate into the Galactic Empire. I loved Padme's quote: "So this is how liberty dies - with thunderous applauds." Whether or not you liked the movie, you have to admit... that's a pretty awesome line.

Guess that's about all Ill bother you with for now. I shall end my journal with a project progress log, followed by the usual plugs for friends and admired artists. Ciao!

In other news, I went to the Salvador Dali exhibition in Philly today. Had to get up at 4:15am to get there way before 8am. But it was definately worth it. In addition to getting to see all the great works, I got to hang out with my friend Rachel ^^ Who had my missing Adobe Photoshop, so that was a nice surprise. I had been freaking out, having thought I lost it.

So, now I guess all there is left to do is work the bugs out of my computer and get moving on art. I have a list of ideas I've only begun to tackle x.x I shall begin listing these artistic endevours (if only to have a place to keep log of them for myself) soon.

So that's it for freshman year. That went... INCREDIBLY fast... My head is still spinning. I would be sad... If like, my farthest new friend (incidentally, my roommate) didn't live only 2 hours away. Yay for a school where 99 of 100 kids are from the same state! :B

As much as I LOVE school and my friends and living in a 8 x 12 room... It rocks to be home. I am so excited about seeing all my old friends. I've missed them so much. And home is awesome when your parents are still high on the novelty of having you back! X3 They are so cute sometimes.

The last week of school was pretty... eee... Finals were evil. Especially since I had one on Monday... And then had to wait until Friday, the LAST day, to take the other two I had. My roommate even left the night before, making the room bare and depressing. And let me tell you... Trying to get to sleep before two major finals is no easy task... Include one being at 8 am, the next being right after at 11, and then people drunk partying DIRECTLY below your window in the parking lot... Not cool at all. But the tests werent that bad to take... Six hours of pure essay/short answer writing IS murderous... But at least the topics werent. Now I just cross my fingers and curse TESS for being down so I have to wait even longer to get my results...

One thing worth mentioning: we succeeded in our prank to get back at Dave and Kramer. While they were out, we snuck in through their unlocked bathroom, stole Kramer's mattress, Dave's drawers, and hid them in different friends' rooms. It was a 1st class prank! ... Unfortunately... They didnt take it well. Dave actually thought someone broke into the room and stole his stuff (amusing, since his laptop in plain site was still there) and Kramer (though he KNEW it was us) wanted to call campus police. :\ OH WELL. WE thought it was hysterical. But they got over it.

So now Im home. I have four months of summer. That is just fun to SAY. Over these months, I am going to 1) get a job, 2) go to Europe or something (up to my parents) 3) go to Atlanta. And lots of other day/weekend trips of course
As for art... ^^ Im so happy. With nothing to stress over, I can switch between drawing and writing freely. I really hope to get a better feel of photoshop during this summer, since I have the time to dedicate to coloring. I REALLY need to get some practice, and now I have no excuse!
With all the free time, I'll probably be doing gift doodles and perhaps, if I feel I can do justice to the person, a trade or two. But I dont stick well with things, so Im not sure.

LASTLY, now that Im home... And around computer savy friends... Maybe I can get some of these computer kinks worked out. AGES ago, I promised a very awesome person I would get MSN messanger. I havent forgotten! I swear! I just CANNOT get it >< Stupid.. cookies and junk. And I have to repair my media player. I cant view movie files anymore... Guess some computer literate friends are going to find a moocher leeching off of their knowledge soon >.>

Well, I guess a class update... Things are going along swimmingly. Since my last entry, I have gotten back two more essays and a project grade that was weighted as an essay. All were in the 90's so that thrilled me. All in all, my classes are not exactly a source of major stress, which is just heavenly. If only the rest of my concerns were so easy to deal with.

Housing has been picked as well. All my friends were accpeted into the program, so we got our amazing housing. My friend Emily also got 19 in the housing lottery... Which is AMAZING. However, it meant she and my friend Megan would DEFINATELY pick first and thus get the PALACE room (this one massively big random room on the floor). However.. The room connected to the palace is an itty bitty cave and Kate and I didnt want to be pulled into that dingy little thing. So, sign-up day, we decided to take our chances on our own. Long story short, we asked two girls we'd just been introduced to for about 5 minutes if they wanted to make a suite of four, and with their AWESOMELY HIGH NUMBER OF 35, they pulled us into the best suite on the floor. Excellent. And now, looking at their profiles and talking to them over AIM... They are just SO much like us it's awesome. Where does this luck COME FROM?

Alright, all caught up. So... The reason for my absence? The reason I hate Dell? Ok so... Coming back from class last Tuesday, I had just walked into the room and started talking to Kate when a huge wasp flew past me and landed behind my printer on the top shelf of my desk. Not wanting to get stung, we knew it had to be killed. So I tapped the printer to get it to move. No luck. Then I moved the stuffed dog next to my printer to make room to look around... And thus knocked my bamboo plant off the shelf... And RIGHT ONTO my open laptop. Long story short, I was an idiot and didnt leave my computer turned over long enough and the water short circuited my machine (the wasp paid dearly, btw). I had to send the thing back to Dell. They sent me a box overnight, addressed to one "Kim BeirneY" ... Ok, the last name I forgive... But how does one get "Kim" from "Nora"? I should have known then... But I sent it away and then waited... On Tuesday, my mom finally called me, to say they had been delivering the package to "The College of New Jersey, 65 Red Hill Rd" since Monday... I happen to know TCNJ is NOT located on that tiny little residental street because that is where my HOUSE IS LOCATED. So the fools shipped to there instead of the actual college. Idiots. So then I had to call to get them to change it. Oh my god... The Dell help people can be SUCH morons. One person ACTUALLY had the nerve to ask if someone could drive me home to pick it up. IT WAS YOUR DAMN FAULT THE PACKAGE WAS SENT TO THE WRONG PLACE, MORONS!!! --; Another was looking up the information for when it was sent to me over the summer... WTF?! They gave me the run-around at least five times. THANKFULLY, the shipping company they use is ten times more competant than they are and just... Amazing. As soon as Dell gave authorization for the change of shipping address (which for some reason, is "a complicated proceedure"), they got it to me the VERY next day. So... I have it back now. Thankfully. AND they didnt just fix my mother board, they installed a new keyboard and a new palm rest assay. *joy* But let me tell you... It was something not having a word processor for those days. Not just internet... But no way to write up homework. Just... infuriating.

ANOTHER "great" plus was that I had to pick my schedule for next year while my comp was gone... and that is done online. I got to borrow a friend's laptop for it but... That in itself was crazy. Because of my insane route of wanting to go to med school with an english major, I have a VERY restricted number of courses I can take each year. So much so, that next semester, there is only ONE possible combination of classes and times I can take. Not just one set of four classes whose times can be rearranged... But only ONE possible time schedule with those four classes. I need to take General Chem, General Physics, Intermediate Latin, and Introduction to the English Language. So, I was blissful because the times were TOO horrible... But then the unthinkable began to happen ._. All the general physics classes filled. Because around 3 of them were reserved for engineering majors only. We dont even HAVE that many engineering majors at this school! >< I had... absolutely no idea what I was going to do. I NEEDED that class. So what about these new classes? Lit, Bio, Latin, and Calc B... Calc and Latin are much the same... Coast along until a test comes up then study like hell... Bio? Well, for all my freaking out, my teacher is actually pretty cool. I mean... I cant really compare him to who I was supposed to have (since I've yet to take a course with Lipton), but just judging Lovett on his own scale? I like him; he's nice. And I think I sorta... confuse him. This random little English major-to-be in his for Bio majors class and doing so very well for herself (if I may blow my own horn just once). And all in all... The class is easier (as of now) than AP bio. Go figure.
Surprisingly, the class Im doing most poorly in is Lit ._. Which saddens me greatly. But the teacher is a nazi when it comes to grading. I've got another paper coming back to me, soon. I hope I got in the 90s on this one. It WOULD be nice to get an A in the course required of my major...

Spring break... oh wow. Six friends and I went to Disney. Yes... I DID go over the summer with two HS friends... But you never get tired of Disney! ^^ We had a blast, and we got to stay at the timeshares in the Beach Club Resort. The room was ENORMOUS ._. Three mini rooms in one. Crazy. Eeesh... We all wish we were back in Florida. The weather was beautiful. Here, the first day of spring is coming up and it's supposed to snow... That's just not right.

We find out about next year's housing this week. My friends and I applied for special housing, since it makes a shoe in for a nice dorm. Sophomores are screwed with housing next year because the contractors messed up on the new apartments... And they arent going to be ready at all. Soooo... to ensure not getting stuck in the PITS of all dorms, we tried for the program. We find out if we got into the specialty housing Wed, and we get our lottery numbers tomorrow We have a 1 in 4 chance of a good number, thankfully, since you can pull people into a suite of four, and we have our girls' suite all planned. So here's hopin'!

In other news, amongst all the joy and fun of the new semester (which HAS been going well, quiet honestly, what with cool classes and snow days), I lost a dear friend. Fiyero, my betta fish of half a year, died. He was a great fish... Now, Jjarrek (an acronym made of my seven best friends from HS) swims in his place. I swear, the fish is evil ._. He. Isnt. Normal. He just swims right next to the side of the tank... and stares. He is staring at me right now, actually... I think I might have to move his tank... He's freaking me out.

Guess that's it in regards to news. As for creativity: please excuse the colored things I've been posting in this gallery. My laptop screen is very light and the color yellow does not show up well. Thus... Everything I do looks twice as dark and yellow tinted on a proper moniter.... Compared to how I want it to look, of course.

And lastly, I finished a short I'd been working on for a while... Completed it some time ago, but since I havent made a journal entry since JANUARY... Oh well. I might post it here, if I feel moved to... Which... I really dont ^^'

But finals have been over and done with for a while now... I've been home, enjoying the holidays. For Christmas, I saw family and ate out which was nice... But next year we've decided to just eat with the relatives. Too much hassle the way it was this year... Plus, Im rather sentimental about my extended family They are amazing people, all of them.

In terms of gifts well... My family is -interesting- when it comes to that. And my mother was sick right before Christmas and couldnt get out while I was at college with no transportation, my sister broke, and my dad a clueless shopper. Despite this, Im pleased. Saw family and got two things I adore: my Gargoyles Season One DVD and my wireless router. I. Can. Use. My. LAPTOP x.x Doesnt seem like a big deal, but if you've ever used my desktop.. you'd understand. It's 6 years old, running on Windows 98, and virus ridden. Thankfully, Im finally free of it.

New Years was spent party hopping to a total of three places (including mine house) with three very good friends. I saw a lot of my old HS friends, and when we got back to my place, the four of us just stayed up til 6 talking. I had a great time ^^

So... Now the span of real NOTHINGNESS begins. Some of my friends have already left: Raj retuned to Princeton since they start today and Ally is off in Australia for a month, along with numerous others flocking back to their respective colleges. And high schools are back in session... So now I have the early mornings free to write and draw since I have nothing better to do. I fear for you all... The products of this free time will be frightening, at the least. Though I do intend to hang out with those friends still around, too ^^

That about sums it up, I suppose. Holidays in a nutshell, yay Ive got some art Ill be putting up shortly - three pieces I think... Shield your eyes.

The last thing I will say is that if you go to the movies any time soon and dont know what to see, choose Spanglish. Im not one to become infatuated with a movie or rave about it constantly... All that considered, this is one of my favorite movies ever ._. I dunno.... I just loved it. It's a very realistic depiction of life and family. And funny, too ^-^ Go see it ._. Now. And dont see Closer... If you value your brain cells, DONT see that movie.

But on the upside, I DID get to see all my HS friends (with very few exceptions). That was awesome. I miss them all so much. And none of them have changed ^-^ Which makes me happy because they are perfect just the way they are. I would hate to see them fall victim to some of the college pressures.

Aaaaaaaah... But now Im back at good ole TCNJ. The ONE good thing that came out of all the work before and directly after break is that now I have nothing to do in my classes. I had tests and huge reports all out of the way, so this week was blessedly easy. I had basically nothing to do. I love it Two of my exams are take home, one will be simple, and the other I have plenty of time to study for. And since Christmas is between semesters, I have three weeks of ABSOLUTE FREEDOM. I hope to use it to color some pieces and write some short stories. And talk and stuff of course ^^ We are getting a wireless router for back home, so I can use by laptop anywhere in the house Fun.

On another note, my perfect schedule is not so perfect anymore. Poor Dr. Lipton had a heart attack, so he isnt teaching in the spring. I get Loveitt now... Joy. --;

NOT school related... Art block. It sucks, considering all the time I have on my hands. But I got to write a few prewrites and do some planning for DF, which is always cool. I hope to break out of this art block soon, then move on to humans again. Must get them down so I can do my holiday gifts.

I end my rant now. 's what I get for not updating this thing as often as I "should". Oh well... You poor people that watch me and actually read this... I <3 you.

Also picked my classes for next semester And I got the exact schedule I wanted. With... minimal... trouble. And my awesome roommate and a bunch of my friends are in the same Calc B class as me so that just rocks. And apparently I have the best Bio teacher ever. So yey.

I still have so much work... Two papers. But today Im taking a break. I'll do my latin work, then draw, I swear it. I feel like.. sketch starved.

Oh yes... And revenge will be mine. Just you wait, Kramer. We'll get you for what you did. .... o.o *ahem* Yea... more on that as the subject arises... >> <<

Well... HA. Im still not in the best of moods so if I tricked you and you thought this was going to be a happy journal entry, JOKES ON YOU! --; Ok, moving on. Halloween? Eh, fun enough. A lot of our plans fell through (which I expected), but we did get dressed up and then three friends and myself played X-men Legends (which we are all currently obsessed with). Umm... OH! And isnt everyone just SO EXCITED about the election?!?!1!!111one. Congratulations, Mr. Bush! You won your FIRST presidential election! No corruption and vote hiding this time! You must be SO proud!
So sue me, I'm a flaming liberal dem. There. I warned you. But even so, I did my research. I know the numbers, I know the stats, I know enough to support my opinion and knock down a good majority of opposition. I know reasons why NOT to vote (have voted?) for Bush, AND reasons TO vote for Kerry. Not just the "Eeeee... CRAZY man must be gotten out" ... Though that's legit. But I LIKED Kerry. I just didnt hate Bush. Maybe I wouldnt be so bitter if Bush hadnt surrounded himself with the axis of EVIL. *sigh* Maybe... if we are really... REALLY lucky... He won't go CRAZY (er... craziER) this term. Oh well... All we can do is brace ourselves for the hell that will be these next four years and hope he doesnt do TOO much irreparable damage. Then it will be Hillary '08. Oh, you laugh. But it's true. She'll run in the primaries, I bet you anything. Even if she doesnt win, she's gunna try.

Hmm... if things get really really terrible... I could always go to Canada or Ireland... Or maybe Australia. I have a good friend there. But I doubt I will. I want to see what happens in Election '08

Uuuuuum... Yea... Lack of art because this month is HELL work wise. It just popped outta no where! ._. Also, I'm trying my hand at humans again, and since Im not showing those random attempts... That combined with work = art lag. Once Thanksgiving break rolls around, I should be good. Maybe even get the chance to write something...

Yes. End rambly rant. I pity anyone who read that. I just needed to blow a lot of (election) steam. Now... I will commence to hold my tongue until Bush messes up again. Until then... No anger. I swear... I'm going to try real hard at that.

Parting words:
IMO, there are two phrases that need addressing... One should be eternally abolished from all usage in American conversation. The other should be used it the RIGHT CONTEXT. Lately, it's been abused....

1) "Well... Now that this decision has been made, we should stick behind it and our president 100%!"

.... Ok, REGARDLESS of who the president is... That is a HORRIBLE mindset. One of the reasons we LIVE in America is so we can disagree with the president's desicions. Blind faith and ignorance will lead straight to disaster. Whatever the issue, even if you agree with it: question, research, and consider the opposite side.

2) "Support our troops!"

This one is just ridiculous. Who DOESNT support our troops? This is the out of context one. Dudes, just because someone doesnt support the war doesnt mean they are all "OMG, I hate this stupid war so I think all those men fighting it should die!". Come on now. THINK about that. Those men are a hell of a lot braver than I am, and they have my utmost support, respect, and concern. But I still hate that war. Those poor men shouldnt be there at all.

EDIT: Quote of the moment ~ "OH WHAT THE HELL?! Kerry loses the election and now there's no ketchup in the dining hall!"
Yes... yes you heard right. All the ketchup bottles in our dining all (or a vast majority) were swiped out of spite of Bush's victory. EVERYONE at our table found that funny, even the Bush supporters. Kudos to the genius who thought of that prank! And yup, we use Heinz at my school.

Yea, lozza stuff has been going on around here. During that last hurricane, we got major flooding and it was awesome. Lots of dancing in the rain at 9 at night, making the campus seem like one of those stupid happy college films. Very cool That whole night was just amazing - goofing around outside followed by tea, cards, tv, and other zaniness - and I'll never forget it ^^ But I wont bore you with details.

Two weekends ago I went to visit my friends at UDel and Widener, and that was crazy. It was great seeing them again. UDel was gorgeous, though EXTEMELY large and Widener just sorta... freaked me out. Horrible bathroom experience. Im just glad my best friends were there. It made it bareable. All in all, it was a great time. South Street in Philly was a riot, and lots of laughs all around. Good times, good times. The one strange thing was the first night at UDel, I got this overwhelming homesicknes... For my DORM o_0 I though THAT was odd. All my friends back at TCNJ thought that was adorable...

THIS weekend, in short, kicked ass. Three of my best friends came to my college: , Ally, and Katie (whom I'd visited with the previous week). It was INSANE! Yay for staying up til 5:30! And for eating at scary diners at 3 a.m. and for doing chinese firedrills at 4 a.m.!! Yea.. it was nuts. We had a really, REALLY good time... Even if we might have scared some of my college friends in the process. Oh well, they had fun, too!

Yey. So lots of fun stuff. And in two weekends Im going to Ototo's college, if all goes well, so MORE fun with old friends since another of my best friends is at the same school.

Yes... I have discovered college life revolves around the weekends ._. Like.... during the weekdays, I have no idea what's going on. But I have my weekends all planned out til the next month (as do all my friends, so NO, I am not a freak in that respect).

EDIT: Ok, end pointless ranting. I will just leave you with this quote from my friend, Dan BoB:

"The next person who says 'Sure, Bush lies and I think the war was a terrible idea and the economy sucks and he is one of the worst presidents since the Reconstruction, but Kerry seems to be unclear about some issues and loves killing babies,' gets his or her reproductive organs removed. Yea... I joined the fencing club, I did It's actually really, REALLY fun... If not the most amusing thing to watch ever. Now I know why they have the foils and sabres... If they didnt, people would laugh at them as the crab scuttle sideways back and forth! But no one is going to laugh at someone holding a sword.... Unless they're a moron.

I was all excited about my second lesson... And then I fractured my toe about 4 hours prior... And then attempted to fence on it anyway because I enjoyed the sport so much. And, yes, the fact that I'm also an idiot contributes, too.

**Special Note** The new edition of Baron's came out... And bumped up TCNJ from "Highly Competative" to "Most Competative"!!! We are the only other NJ school aside from Princeton to reach that status! And like... the highest ranked public institution in the Northeast! ...Too bad no one knows about us but people in the state XD Oh well. Doesnt matter. I can still be stupidly filled with school pride.

Wh00t. Journal spam. Not much else to say. Trying to draw some old charries and I am *WAY* out of practice for it, so fear anything new I put up.
