Our ever faithful president has just signed in the bill suspending the right to Habeas Corpus. And allowing torture and secret CIA torture facilities. For the uninitiated without habeas corpus you can be held at will for as long as is deemed fit by a politician.
What has happened here?
Is America now Nazi Germany circa 1938?
Have I been transported to Cuba where Castro can lock up anyone who speaks up against him?
Are we in Iraq where prior to the invasion and quote-unquote "Liberation" this very same thing could happen?
No for the love of god and all that you may or may not hold sacred we are in America. ( I realize for some people who read this you may be in Canada, bear with me, I wish I was there too)
This shit shouldnt be happening. We have a tyrranical oppressor at our helm and he needs to be stopped, write your congressman, write your senator. Blog about it, put it in a journal, write a compelling essay. Discuss this. We should never have lost this right.

Now is the time, When I have left comments on your artwork, when I have said thank you you may have read my signature...
Do not wait. Do not wait for people to be herded into a corner. Attack. Climb on top of the seats. Do not allow yourself to be penned in. Women and men should attack. Kids should attack. -cockeyed.com

Now is the time to ATTACK. We are being oppressed. We are losing rights, we are condoning torture, we have lost the rights our fathers, grandfathers, mothers have fought for to give us a better life. Bring back Habeas Corpus. Attack.

Unfortunately EMI/Capitol Records cant handle a nonprofit remix of their music, and they demand that the kind soul who mashed them together must cease and desist, and they want him to turn over all the IP addresses of those who downloaded, streamed, or accidentally clicked upon one of the songs. I am one of those whom downloaded, hopefully they can't sue us all. Corporate greed. They want to sue our asses for some free music, music better than 99% of the drivel they put out now. I want to give a big thank you to my parents who, when I said "don't get me anything" finally complied. And am only slightly angered at Stella whom when I said "dont get me anything" got me 5 incredible presents, completely blowing me away. I love you Stella. So now I'm doing double time to come up with something for her... Anyways I'm going to have a nice little gathering of friends and family tonight and we'll eat some key lime pie and be happy. I'm extremely lucky to be surrounded by only the best in life. I do however miss my sister who is currently backpacking through Italy. I'm glad she's having tons of fun, that for me is truly the best present so far, getting to see my sister, probably my best friend having the time of her life. Ok, enough mushy stuff. I hope to get off my lazy butt and finish up some projects I have brewin' while Im on vacation, and when I do they'll be submitted right here for all the world to see. Anyways, have fun be safe.
Its quite good. The man had one incredible life. From being born in 1880, going on to West Point, then leading a one man mission into Veracruz, Mexico, all the way to trench warfare in world war 1 and then being supreme commander of ground and air forces in the Pacific theatre in world war 2. Amazing man, I have great respect for him. If you get the chance I highly recommend you read it.
Yeah the Oscars were boring.
Brokeback should have gotten best picture, but I'm glad they snuffed Star Wars Episode 3 for both makeup and visual effects, Lucas doesnt deserve an Oscar after the massacre that was the Star Wars prequels.
Oh well, i do hope he gets one of those nifty lifetime achievement oscars, his body of work in the running of film related organizations, and alot of his campaigning for the preservation and enhancement of film and theatre experience is outstanding.
"Same as last time, right? You're crowd control... I'll handle the register." --Tim Roth / Pulp Fiction

So, Im reading up on movie news today and bam get this Spielberg confirms that Indiana Jones 4 will be underway as far as principal shooting goes this year, and it should be completed and released by November next year. As it stands Harrison Ford says he cannot wait to do another and George Lucas is just finishing tweaking the script so it'll be perfect...

And yet I cannot feel excited.

When i first read the announcement I was overjoyed but then it began to sink in. There is no way this movie can ever live up to my expectations. And no matter how I look at it, it will be a dissapointment.

Raiders of the Lost Ark is by no means perfect but it is one of the most memorable films in history, in my personal ranking it is only surpassed by the original 3 Star Wars films and for me that is like saying it's diamond encrusted platinum covered in smooth silky gold with rubies on the side. That would make Star Wars a mithril t-shirt....

But back to the point, that sets a pretty high standard for Indiana Jones 4 to live up to, and frankly with Lucas's recent track record for dialog (and yes the guy who wrote the most brilliant line in movie history "Yippee!!!" is the one tweaking the script) and a distinct disenchantment in Spielberg after his decision to helm a REMAKE!!! (no more fucking remakes please, some original ideas... anyone???) of War of the Worlds, I feel like the best thing that can come out of this is the biggest box office star in history reading unpronounceable lines, while Spielberg simply copies whatever the hell he did for Raiders that made it so damn great.

This does not bode well.

So, will this be completely bad? Not totally, Im sure it will be entertaining for a fleeting moment in time, like the way I loved Episodes 1,2,and 3 can now no longer watch any Star Wars prequel all the way through. And I'm also of hopes that exposure to a new film might expose younger generations to actual good films, and that is a very nice thought.

But for me, for the person who wants a new adventure, nothing will be delivered. I can only hope that after this generation of filmmakers "goes the way of the dodo" (in the words of Walter Donovan head baddie of Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade) we will get new adventures, new stories, and good movies much in the same way the original Raiders of the Lost Ark excited new generations of moviegoers into adventures uncounted.

"Whoa baby" --Quentin Tarantino / Reservoir Dogs

Just sittin here watchin 2001, totally chillin while the monkeys become intelligent and learn to use tools.
Today I was further reminded that there are some true dumbasses in the world. My math teacher asks this little ugly white dude to answer a problem, she says,

"Hey, Man in Black, problem number 47."

He is of course wearing a black shirt and pants, he then responds with,

" At least Im not black when I take the clothes off."

She is of course a tall Jamaican woman.

Hey homies, homegirls and homeowners. How is it going! Man Christmas break was fun. Then I had to go back to school which wasnt so fun. But eh its a part of life, and Im still teh happiness.
So whats going on with all of ye out there? Over on my end I finally started a graphic design class which is super cool.

After both re-reading the Lord of the Rings trilogy and The Hobbit and engaging in a marathon viewing of the extended editions of the films (Thank you much stella!) I have found a nice outlet for my artistic capabilities in reimagining and transferring from words to pictures the locales and characters of the saga. It's a fun little deviation from Star Wars and you can expect more to come as I tackle more and varied locations!

So yeah thats whats up with me, I'm off now to play with Treebeard and the Fellowship!

Not much goings on. School is almost out, Im so excited! Christmas break! Hopefully I'll be able to do lots of stuff this break, I feel energized and ready.
Hoping to do a good bit of artwork during the break now that ill have some free time. Havent submitted lately due to both school work and a general llack of creative juices flowing. But I think i can get back into the groove quickly once on break.
Im still dating Stella, prettiest, nicest, most funnest girl in the world. Ate thanksgiving lunch with her at my house, then dinner at her house, that was fun... really... IT WAS! Still searching for her Christmas present, or something to go with a present I already have for her. Any ideas welcome... serious ideas.
I've started re-reading The Fellowship of the Ring, partly due to Stella's influence and partly because after completing viewing the extended versions of The Lord of the Rings it just made me want to revisit the books. Im hoping to read the trilogy while on break since they seem to go much faster now. Already halfway through and I started yesterday!
So yeah just wanted to update a bit, more work will be coming soon. Hope all is well with everyone!

Christians, followers of the Flying Spaghetti Monster (of which I was once affiliated) steer clear...

Yes a big rant alert. Been trying to figure a way to put into words my disgust at the arkansas school board for deciding to allow creation theory to be taught alongside evolution as a valid way of showing how life came to be on the planet earth.
I put it this way.
The human race has just taken a step backwards.
That alone would probably say enough, but come on. Divine creation. Divine. Creation. Being taught next to science.
Gimme a break, you wanna institute an optional philosophy class, by all means go ahead. But dont try to pass off something that is borderline movie script as a science.
The thing that really peeves me off is that theyre getting this form a book (Im referring to the bible here) that has been translated thorugh countless languages, over thousands of years, and could have been changed at will by any king or monk in a society at some point in their rule. And people think it means anything that it originally was? For all we know the bible could have started out as an esoteric recipe book. Maybe thats why Noah had all those damn animals....
Regardless of what beleifs you have no one should be happy this is happening. It is bound to insult everyone.
I'm pissed their teaching religion at all in schools, then the Christians will be pissed when they teach about some Muslim beleifs, and vice versa. Cut the crap.
By all means, beleive what you want, it does not bother me one bit. I know i would hate it just as much if someone insulted my choice to beleive or not to beleive. But keep religion out of the schools. Were all smarter than that.

I rode the bus home from school today, and when I'm stepping off all of a sudden wham! A car hits the back of the bus and the door slams into the side of my face. I stumble forward a bit still on my feet and find myself standing on the sidewalk, no glasses, a little stunned and with blood coming out of the right side of my face. Anyways after a minute I grab my glasses out of the grass and they're all bent to hell, pff, figures. SO, I turn around anmd the bus driver asks idf I am alright, "Yeah, I'm fine" and I almost start walking home when she says I need you to get back in the bus. So I then stepback onboard and I wait about 20 minutes for a huge firetruck to get there, then am questioned and prodded about who I am by the 3 EMT's and a really hot lady EMT takes my blood pressure. She cleans up the cut on the side of my face and I get my first view a 1.5 cm long cut above my eye. The EMT guy says I'll prolly need stitches (fuckin figures) and they proceed to call my mom who works like 2 blocks away. She gets there, my dad gets there, they talk to the fireman and he tells em I prolly need stitches. Anyways I go home sit down turn on Star Wars, and instead of going to the hospital for stitches my mom cleans it up, puts a butterfly bandage on it, and we all say eh, looks fine. SO thats how I got the new scar that Ill have in week or 2 once this heals up. And I thought today would be boring and monotonous!

I wrote this for my government/economics class. I figured what the hell, I'll post it for those who dont know me so well.

I was born Eric David Gonzalez on May 10th, 1988 in Hialeah Hospital. After leaving the hospital, I came home, real exciting stuff. I moved into what is now my aunts house, 161 west 63rd street, right in Hialeah. I lived out the next few years unspectacularly. The days were often spent playing with my sister, sitting in the yard, hitting a rock with a screwdriver. That rock still sits in the yard, it has a hole where, after quite some time, the screwdriver broke through. I’d be tempted to say breaking through the other side of the rock was the happiest moment in my life. But it has easily been trumped by other moments which are far more enjoyable.
It was great there. But then we had to move. My aunt and cousin had moved in after she divorced a particularly odd fellow named Chip. To give you an idea of how odd, the man, who is legally blind, later crashed his scooter into a pothole which he could not see nearly killing him when the impact caused his brain to fill with fluid. So add that to my parents and sister and my grandma, instead of being cramped up, my parents decided to move across the street. And move we did. On Christmas night 1995 we finished moving all the boxes into our new home. I have lived here ever since.
Growing up, no matter where I have lived, I was always surrounded by three people. My mom , my dad, and my sister. I think the last one is my favorite of the three. On my mother’s side, my lineage is too far to trace… I sometimes think I must be bred from Native Americans since it seems like her family has always been here. But in truth that side of the family has many beginnings. I am composed of, dirty Germans, fighting Irish, wet Dutch, and Scots (a people for which I couldn’t think of any description). And that’s just my moms side. My dad, on the other hand does not know much himself about where his family was from as he was one of a very few survivors of the bikini atoll nuclear tests from the 50’s. Just kidding, on that side, my grandfather is from Cuba, and my grandmother is from Puerto Rico.
My mother, after descending from many different countries, was born Elizabeth Carolyn Hardy in 1957, in Atlantic City, New Jersey. She was the second of 5 siblings 2 boys and 3 girls. After leaving New Jersey she settled in the house where I used to live, and pretty much went to the same schools I did, weird huh…. Then she settled down with my dad and had me and my sister.
My dad was born Marco Gonzalez in Brooklyn, New York in 1961. He was there for a while until his parents decided to head south and ended up in Florida. They still live here only now they decided to go up to Orlando. So they’re not as close as they used to be, but that’s alright, because we keep in touch. But after moving, my dad lived here and there... then he married my mom in 1986, I think.
Anyways, I have an older sister, Juli who was born in 1986. She is so awesome. I have always had to follow in her footsteps, and everyone compares me to her, so it’s pretty hard to be awesome myself . But I still think she is the greatest sibling one could have. She is always wiling to take me to the movies to see a film that not one person in the world could be as interested in as me. She always gives me a buck if I run low on cash (and this happens all the time). And most importantly she listens, she’s not like most sisters who don’t give a damn about anything but their hair and clothes, she is always there for me. Theres no way in the world I could ever pay her back for all she has done. And I have no shame in admitting that she is a much smarter, much braver personthan I could ever hope to be.
Well, I set off to elementary school in the path of my sister. We both went to Palm Springs Elementary. It was pretty fun too, up until the 5th grade. That’s when my mother decided that it would be good for me to skip to 6th grade. Bad idea. I had to leave all my friends behind. Every single one. Later on I managed to make some friends and then it was pretty cool, but in the beginning it was awful. I now am glad I skipped, if I hadn’t I wouldn’t have met all the friends I have now, Eric and Gerry and Gary
Also that year my grandmother passed away which was a big blow, not only to myself, but to my whole family. It was probably the hardest thing I have ever dealt with. I had lived with her for the first half of my life and never really thought about losing her. But I found relief in the fact that she didn’t suffer and passed away quietly in her sleep.
Later that summer, which would be the transition to middle school, I experienced a horrifying event. Walking across the street to see something my uncle was working on he dropped an 11 foot long aluminum awning on my face. It left me with an inch long scar running down my nose. I ended up laying in the emergency...

You've got to out-think people. It's how you win. Not by screaming, that lets the more tenacious person win out, and hopefully you all have enough other things in your lives that you will always lose that contest. Out-think them.

I thought about Sam Whatley’s list of his favorite movies and figured, why don’t I make a list of my own favorites, you can read them if you want, you probably wont want to, but if you do, point out which ones you may like, yes they are in order from most favorite to least favorite...

1.Star Wars (Yes I like them in order)
9.Attack of the Clones
10.The Phantom Menace
11.Ernest Goes to Camp (Contains the single greatest scene in a movie)
13.Terminator 2: Judgement Day (Like clash of the titans… ON STEROIDS)
14.Apocalypse Now: Redux (Best War movie)
15.2001: A Space Odyssey (Makes you think, too much)
I want to start doing some pictures, sketches...
Thats about it. Had another fun night with the guys. We headed out to get some slurpees at the 7/11. Then we went to main street. We saw Diana and hairy Gerry there. They all went into Coldstone Creamery and tipped Eddy so he would have to sing to the customers. Then we went to the thetre lobby and Eric played a round of Dance Dance Revolution then we played a group game with all of us tapping an arrow with a foot. After that things got nuts. We walked to this little pond. after some experiments with dipping fingers and feet into the water, non hairy-Gerry went completely insane and attacked us with algae. Evan and I were alright, but a sickening smack alerted us to the fact that Eric had been hit.
Then not taking any chances we ran as fast as we could to the car leaving Gerry in the dust. Eric then drove around the parking lot wetting gerry with the puddles as we drove around him. Later we stopped and let him in. Then we spied a fiberglass cow across the street. 2 women were taking pics on it. So we got out and did the same... then on the way home Gerry got out and stole some baloons hanging on a sign and we drank the helium all that fun and I think the most expensive part was the slurpees.

And they were only 99 cents.

Yep its been that long. Not too much going on. I got a watch.... its pretty cool. Made by the same people who made my swiss army knife. And I can hear it tick at night while I'm trying to sleep. Weird.
Yeah so, I dont do much outside of school. I went to th emovies with Eric and Gerry and Evan. We saw Madagascar, which although funnier than I expected, was still sucky. The only humorous moments for me were the homage to Planet of the Apes (You destroyed it! Damn you all to hell!) And the penguins were ok (Well this sucks.) But other than that a waste of money. Good money too...
After the movie we walked around a bit, I was appaled at how many preople younger and as old as me were smoking... truly terrible.
After we walked aorund eric drove to myhouse to drop me off, but evan wanted somehting to do, so to appease him I told him "Hey lets go to the park by my house" Of course the park is closed from 11:00 pm to 7:00 am but the mischievous lawbreakers that we are, we walked in at 11:00. Even with people across the street it was freakishly quiet. We got scared after hearing the flagpole clanking and decided to leave. In the next 5 minutes we came up with what could be described as the most immensely scary moments that could ever take place at 11:30 pm after leaving O'Quinn park.
They dropped me off and I walked inside and went to bed and that was my friday night... the next 2 days, well, I saw Star Wars again in the theatre, that makes 3 times. Hey I got free tickets. And then I had a mostly uneventful Sunday...

then I wrote this.

I found this while surfing the web. Its the film Gary and I talked about for some time, the surrealistic masterpiece Un Chien Andalou. This is also a great film for fans of Salvador Dali (who can be seen being dragged behind a piano in the film which he helped to create). Its an extremely fast download, film is only 15 minutes long.

A long time ago in a galaxy far far away...

From the opening crawl to the credits against a starfield, Revenge of the Sith has given me more thna anything, a sense of closure. I could have written a "true" review here, but I couldnt. That is just not possible.
Many moments stand out in my mind and will forever, I am not going to forget standing in line with my dad and friends. I am not going to forget my heart pounding walking into the darkened theatre. I wont forget shedding that single tear near the end of the movie. But while those memories have come and gone, one will be in front of me forever...
Hearing a noise I looked down to the row ahead of me, and in all the people, there was a little boy not more than 4-5 years old. During the numerous lightsaber fights I looked down to see him waving his arms as if holding a lightsaber. And in those moments of solitude seeing a child letting loose, having pure unadulterated fun, I myself felt small again. I realized this is truly a big part of my life. I saw myself as that little child. And I said to myself, Star Wars will be here long after I am gone. And I was happy...
happy for those who love Star Wars,
happy for the boy in the other row,
and I was happy that Star Wars will live on...

May the force be with you...

-Eric

Life is beginning to come to a crux in a way.
Next week birthday... *drumroll* 17 years old. Oh yeah... I think now I can get into R movies... myself. Still havent gotten a drivers license though... don't really want one.
Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith is approaching. The finish of what is quite possibly the most lucratively merchandised piece of art in the history of man.
Schools almost over, I know, I say that in every journal entry but hey its getting closer and I antsy.
Prom was awesome. I was the only guy wearing chucks in that whole place.
Finally I'm worried because I think a girl finally likes me, even though I don't like her... eh, I guess I'll take what I can get...

Back on track.. on point... working harder towards getting out of school. Fires are burning at full flame. Lots of things are going through my head right about now.

1.Why cant screen writers come up with compelling ideas for stories.
2. Why is it that every time I get an idea for a great movie it comes out about 2 weeks later that someone else has the idea... this happened recently when I realized how awesome the story of the uss indianapolis would be if told from the point of view of Quint from JAWS.

thats about it.
