I have IMPORTANT news! A study has found that 57% of young people believe their generation uses social networking sites for self-promotion, narcissism and attention seeking. There was even this article in Psychology Today (November/December 2008 issue) Which had an article called "From sucker to saint: why you see your dunce capo as a halo" which described an experiment that was done by Stanford Reasearchers which I find relevant to mention here because it explained how some people "cast themselves as noble to avoid feeling naÃ¯ve". It also stated that "And if you can't call ego-threatening individuals evil or stupid. you just plain reject them." Yes, thats a quote from the article. I also found this paragraph to be interesting ;

"Monin(one of the researchers) stated that we judge people on two main axes: morality and competence. In defending your ego, iof you can't impugn someone's ethics, you call her stupid."

(look up the atricle on psychologytoday.com if you wanna know more)So, anyway, to get to the point, I'm simply going to say that all of this doesnt suprise me in the least bit, I've known quite a few jerks who thrive on others' praise and nothing else, and I feel sorry for them more than anything else.I'm quite competetive myself, but My competetiveness is more centered around being as creative as possible in my self expression than just simply trying attract attention because I want praise.

Oh... I'm off to college so I probably wont be updating much in the next couple of months. I really need to focus on my school work, morwe tahn anythign else right now...

I'll probably put some more sailor moon/fashion design stuff up soon if I feel liek it...(no promises though).

My inspiration was various butteflies and chrysiridia madagascariensi, a moth from Madagascar. My biggest fear was probably my inspiration, butterlies sound like something that you would put on a Barbie, right? Well, I kind of like the results of my sketching, and it was fun creating unique looks for spring. Plus I am facsinated by nature so this was really a fun experience.

What d'you think? Do you think my designs make good couture?

UPDATE Feb 22

Ok I'm exaggerating a bit but I have to admit that the Anna Sui show for Fall 09 was THE Bomb, there were some inspiring, pieces in there!(and some of my fave looks were teal-turqoise colored, and I am the biggest turqoise/teal fanatic ever).I will surely make a drawing inspired by her collection. Marc Jacobs's, collection also stood out from the masses of black that had taken over the runaways. Some looks looked very pippi longstocking meets Anne of green gables though. Although there were some very wearable frilly knit blouses andteal/lace dresses.Zac Posen certainly did not disspoint either,his "forties-inflected Victoriana" looks were dramatic, and for the most part I liked them,I don't care what anyone else says, they were gorgeous.

I'm going to upload some of my colored designs soon too!

I don't think the music is the root of the problem here, its us. We are the ones that consider one's physical attractiveness and popularity as the most important things about us. Its incredibly sad that these poor impressionable kids are succumbing to the traps that the meda creates.Kids are getting the message that its okay to act and be like these rappers and celebrities they see.The need to belong far encompasses the need to have principles. That and the media itself is sending the message youre nothing if youre not what they want you to be, and individuality is not something we recognize as easily anymore. What have we, as culture become if we're not taking in consideration the impact that our own behavior will have on others..?

I'm just going to share some facts 'bout Mark Twain with the world, beause, well, because he is JUST SO AWESOME. Thats enough reason for me.

These are mostly exerpts from the book "Mark Twain: The man and his work by Edward Wagenknecht(1962)"

page 90-

When he was an old man, Mark twain remembered that he had once bought a revolver and traveled twelve hundred miles for the espress purpose of killing a man.(note:the following quote is by Mark Twain , not Edward) "He was away.With nothing else to do, I had to stop and think-and did. Within an hour-within half of it-I was ashamed of myself- and felt unspeakably ridiculous"

"There is egotism in all this, of course,but there is so much more of eagerness, enthusiasm, appetence for life. I did. The person who wrote the book is a Boston University graduate as well so i tried to write everything as it was in the book, because he is such a wonderfully open-minded critic.

Neith was afraid that when the child grew up, Mael would become more powerful and she would fall into slavery under her. MaelÂs father protected her with a magical feather of a peacock, but they still suffered an attack from Neith, but both survived. After Mael turned five, her father gave her a bracelet that was bonded with that magical peacock feather that he had used to ward Neith off before. The goddess Neith continued to try and hurt Mael, but not physically; Neith began playing mind games with Mael. When Mael was around ten years old, her and her family went vacationing in the mountains. They enjoyed the outdoors and her father proposed they take a hikeup one of the mountains together. As they reached the summit, Neith showed her presence again, this time, acting as if she was about to kill MaelÂs father. Trying to push the goddess out of the way, she instead pushed her father, sending him down the side of the mountain by accident. Mael shortly thereafter, fell into a trance and fainted. When she awoke, she couldnÂt remember any of the events from that day or what happened to her father.
