Of course, it's also important to keep in mind that I'm a sucker for RPG's on top of being easily entertained, so my opinion is hardly anything to go off of, but I like it anyway

Other than that, I am going to the TSO (Trans-Siberian Orchestra) concert in Kansas City on the 23rd with my family and best friend. Wooooooot~

I was tagged by ~EverydayInsanity to do this. There's a fanfic writer's meme, and I also read them, so why the hell not? Let's go!

1] So you like to read fanfiction, do you? What got you into that?
I believe it was not long after my first time playing a Zelda video game. I was like "IS THIS IN STORY FORM SOMEWHERE" and then I found out it indeed was. I was stoked and have been a fanfic junkie ever since.

2] Well if you read fanfiction, you probably know of the famous Fanfiction.net! Do you have an account there?
Indeed I do! The penname is TheFinalCountdown. It isn't the same as my DA name but I've never changed it because it, like my DA name, means something to me. I got the name not long after I was pulled out of a very bad slump...

3] If your answer to the previous question was yes, what were your sentiments upon discovering the site's existence?
HELL YESSSSSSSSS

4] What was the first fanfic you ever read? Did you like it? What was it about?
I think it was called The Way the Winds of Time Blow by an author called Aria Zephyr. It was written as a post WW fic, long before Phantom Hourglass was even released or announced. It involved the ghosts of OoT Zelda and Link and it was a TeLink fic. I really did like it, because it inspired a lot of confidence in me, enough to start my career as a fanfiction author. It wasn't the best story of all time, but it was sweet, sentimental and creative and that was all it needed.

5] What are your favorite types of stories? That is to say...genre.
A lot of Adventure and Romance, mostly. But every once in a while I like to read tragedy, angst or horror....oh, can it, I just love all of them.

6] What about your favorite fanfic authors? Who are they?
I like most of the popular authors out there right now; BatNeko and SirJoshizzle especially. But if I discount them I have to include all the friends I've made even higher. *Dreamnorn, :devEverydayInsanity/Soul Stealing Kodak, and NightmarishPrince. All of them have been wonderful sources of encouragement and inspiration in their own right.

7] In the world of fanfiction, it's nigh impossible to avoid seeing OC's at some point. What is your opinion on them?
I know this is weird to hear from someone who has so many, but OC's are obviously a touchy subject. The line between acceptable and "Mary-Sue" is thin and blurred, and many people have different standards about them. I tend to be somewhat picky, but I know that not everyone with a 'mary-sue' meant for them to be that way. Many of the OC's I have now were once Sues before I rigorously redeveloped them. So I think it really is up to the author. If it's only your own approval you're seeking, seek your own approval. Fit the character to your own standards.

8] Have you run across any OC's you particularly liked?
Taran and Eilonwy, two of *Dreamnorn's OC's. I'm not incredibly familiar with them because I've only come across them when RPing with their creator, but they're witty and fun. I also like most of *Sariels-Hope's characters and ~BeagleTsuin's.

9] Any you disliked?
Just Mary-Sues, really, and not all of them are intentional. There are a few OC's of mine that I've thrown away because I realized just how BAD they were...Otodaka Kenji from the Naruto fandom is one of them.

10] So you might have garnered inspiration from a fanfic for your own right? If so, what kind? What fanfic inspired you?
A few truly inspirational ones were The Destined by Ryuutsu Seishin Hime no Argh, Only in Hyrule by CrazyGurlMadness and Hyrule Boys Correctional Facility by BatNeko. They've all inspired me to write how I want to write, suit my style to the way the story needs to be told and to do things my own way, never bothering to adhere to what is 'expected of me.' Okay, so, aside from that apparently my brother's fiance would like me to be a bridesmaid.

So, you know, I couldn't really say no. Because she's awesome and even though I was surprised I was happy she wanted me to be one.

Hm, it's National Novel Writin month over here! Go write a book! I've been collaborating with Sensei (an older friend who taught me art for awhile) and writing a humorous novelization of Chronicles of the Sword, an adventure mode from Soul Calibur III. We hit the halfway mark yesterday, and even exceeded it! Woohoo!

Anyway, my fanfics are kind of sort of on hold for this month. But I am still working on them. Just...well, NANOWRIMO is taking a front seat to them.

My parents bought me a futon. Why? Because the bunk beds I had before are now in my brothers' room. The heater on the water bed that was in there broke and started burning a hole in the mattress (OMG! Barbecued brothers!) so we were like 'oh snap gotta get rid of it' and I requested a futon as a new bed. So now I have a full size, dark red futon on the floor in my room. I move around a lot in my sleep so it being really big is a plus.

Well, that's what's happening to me right now.

My brother is engaged. *dances around*

I suppose this isn't particularly exciting to all of you, but it is for me and, you know, I always do a journal when something particularly exhilerating happens in my life.
Anyway, I'm going to have a sister! She's a nice person, a great musician and one of the funniest people I've ever met, so it could certainly be worse.

Anyway, I'm jittering in my seat over here. For those of you who didn't know I've grown up with three brothers, and no sisters. This is exciting!

Anyway, other than that I'm doing Nanowrimo (national novel writing month) with Sensei so I'm also BIZZEH. And I bought an ocarina, so I've now cemented myself as a supernerd.

ANYWAY that's all that's really been happening to me. I'll continue working on the song meme, so hopefully another sketch will be up by tomorrow. Ciao!

Anyway I thought you guys should know since I received several condolences for him back last fall when he became unemployed.

Okay so

I got my first ever flu shot yesterday.

It feels like someone punched me in the arm. DANGIT IT'S LIKE A BRUISE and even though it's nothing I can't handle it's still aggravating.

But at least I'll have antibodies and hopefully not get the flu this year like I have every other year. (stupid immune system doesn't do its fricking job)

Also I have a gameboy advance emulator on my computer now and I got MOTHER 3 IN ENGLISH. Lucas! I lurves you!
Okay, so I am fangirling over here but I am still in the Flint chapter for any of you who have actually played (I am pretty sure that is zero)
And anyway apparently at some point or something there was a stronger weapon I could pick up, but I didn't know that. SO instead of a giant board like I could have I have a stick. And I need to go fight a giant dragon. I will be strengthening for days before I dare set foot into the den of the beast, man.

I also downloaded a load of other roms too. I got pokemon ruby, which means ZANGOOSE man! I love zangoose. He's just below quilava on my list of favorites. Immunity to poison, ridiculous attack power, fair speed...and plain cool looking to boot. I got Fire Emblem: Blazing Sword (known only as fire emblem in the US because nintendo is a bitch and didn't release any of the games before it) and managed to get Sealed Sword and an english patch for it so I can have a somewhat translated version of it. I also got a spyro game because *Dreamnorn says that the series is awesome and I decided to take the word. I am not even halfway through the first level but it's adorable. I can breathe fire and ram into things!

Um what else... OH I have two Kirby games. But neither is anything like Kirby 64 (Crystal Shards) which is my favorite aside from Air Ride. But Air Ride is a racing game and so it does not count. I MUST RETRIEVE CRYSTAL SHARDS FROM THE FRIEND WHO BORROWED IT DARNIT. I also have the first two final fantasy games because I am a goober who likes them. I may also get a lufia game.

ANYWAY aside from that this is now my allergy season because it is autumn! So even without the flu I will have constant sniffles. Darn allergies.

Um I am thinking about doing a fan insert fic. Because I have never written a primarily humor fic and I think that would be a good way to write some good ol' comedy and get some practice in. Because we all know that were I to be transported to another world of my choosing I would be laughing my ass off and making stupid comments the entire way.

Still, I'm not sure. Anyway...if anyone has a good idea for a humor fic let me know. I need to practice!

Aside from that my oldest brother's girlfriend (My oldest brother's the one at Yale) sent us all presents from when she studied abroad in Africa. My older and younger brothers got identical skinny face wall hangings that were made from wood and are very pretty. She sent charms and little things for the cousins of mine she had the opportunity to meet. My parents got a super cool super soft handmade rug that is fun to stand on with bare feet. And she got me a painting! A very nice, brightly colored one with lots of yellow and red and orange. It is on a piece of cloth and I really like it.

Clara's such an over-achiever. She's awesome.

I was not alone in getting flu shots, lol. My mom and my little brother both went in with me...or rather we went in with my mom. The nurse that gave us our shots is my eighth grade teacher's wife. I'm in there so much though that the entire staff is familiar with me.

That is not a good thing. Oh well they are all very nice people.

Also it seems I will be getting my blood checked again soon. I'm having another checkup at Children's Mercy sometime in the near future so we need my iron levels and junk. I HATE NEEDLES IN CASE YOU DON'T KNOW. But I think no one likes needles so so okay.

Has anyone else notice my poor grammar throughout this entire journal? Mayhaps my mood should have been set as lazy, rather than hungry. But I think I am feeling hungrier than I am feeling lazy. So, oh well!

1] How about a brief introduction of yourself?
Okies~ Well, obviously I'm Southy...over thar on that FF.net I'm known as TheFinalCountdown. I love spicy chicken ramen and mountain dew!

2] Fabulous! And what got you into fanfiction to begin with?
I can barely remember! Uh, I think it was when I very first discovered the Zelda games and fell in love with the Telink pairing. Finally I stumbled on ff.net, and there you go!

3] I see, what kind of fanfiction do you like to write?
All kinds! I'm particularly fond of adventure and romance, but recently I've started reading some angst and western as well. There's just so much to choose from! I'd like to try writing something strictly horror, too.

4] Do you tend to write the same pairings/characters? Or are you a fandom whore?
I'm afraid, recently, that I may be the latter. Of course there are several pairings that are my favorites(Te/Zelink and NaruSaku), but I've discovered some new ones that I think are cute and worth giving a shot. For instance TetraxKomali and KibaIno. I tend to read varying things, from stone cold canon to absolute crack. Diversity is good, right?

5] What is your most popular fanfic and why do you think people like it so much?
Oh, it's definitely DemonSong. It's a very new fic, actually, only two chapters are up, but by far it's gotten the most feedback and best response of any of my stories. Maybe people like it because it's a somewhat original concept for a crossover. ...Or anyway I haven't seen it in all the Naruto/Zelda crossovers I've found. Naruto is not standing in for or helping Link, He is Link! Also, ZelNaru. CRACKCRACKCRACK

6] Forget other people, what is the fanfic you've written that you're most proud of?
I dunnoo....Oh heck, it has to be DemonSong as well. It was my first time completely disregarding what other people expected me to write and doing something completely my own. I'm proud of my descriptive scenes, and though I haven't yet illlustrated any battles, I'm confident I'll do well there, too. I haven't been so inspired in a long time.
But, you know, I'm also very proud of the rewrite of Stargazing. I've managed to accurately portray the characters and lend fitting personalities to those that had little or none in the game...also, Lance doesn't seem to be Mary Sue-ish. Hopefully he'll stay like that.

7] Do you find writing easy? Hard? What aspects of writing do you most struggle with?
Of course I love writing, but dangit it's hard, okay?
I have a lot of trouble with romance, though I don't know if you'd believe it. I think the problem stems from the fact that I've never really even had a CRUSH on anyone, much less been in love, so all I have to go on is speculation and observation of the relationships around me.
I also have trouble with battle scenes. I never have a problem planning them in my head, but I think in terms of pictures rather than words when it comes to high action sequences...it's hard to transcribe blood and gore and acrobatics to the written word.

8] Write a few sentences or so of your favorite pairing or character.

Carefully, Link hid his face behind his hand, faking a cough and trying to calm the racing in his heart as Tetra descended the stairs in a deep blue gown. He ignored Niko's snickering and let his hand fall, all too aware of the redness in his face. Beside him, Niko clapped casually. "Radiant as always, cap'n." he remarked.
Tetra rolled her eyes and ignored the man's sarcastic compliment, stepping awkwardly toward Link and crossing her arms. "Well, this is it, then..." she muttered.
"You have to take the crown sometime." quipped the hero nervously, but he had taken her hand in his own, face still red. "I'll be right beside, you, though."
Tetra smiled.

9] Are there any fanfiction trends/cliches that you just can't stand?
Of course I'm wary of a few....self inserts for one, because usually the authors are just using that for a chance to god mod themselves and fulfill silly fantasies. For the most part, though, I try to stay open-minded to whatever I find.

10] Are you guilty of any of the fanfiction trends you now hate?
Not really. I'd like to TRY writing a crusade fan insert against Mary-Sues but I think I would fail in an epic manner.

11] What was the first fandom you wrote for? Do you still like/participate in it?
Digimon! I still love the first two seasons, actually, but it's so hard to find any really good fanfictions pertaining to them these days...especially ones with pairings I like to read. Aaaanyway we got back today and I'm very tired and stuff. But that isn't quite what i wanted to talk about.

I kind of got a shock last night. We were at my dad's parents' apartment and my biggest brother Shane(twenty-two) called because he had just gotten out of choir practice. He's now in one of the choirs at Yale....one of the really good ones that you have to audition for. The man is impossibly cool, I tell you.
Anyway, Shane talked about the new pals he's made so far and applying for jobs and his flatmates and other stuff, but in the end we talked about 'when should I marry my girlfriend'.

Just pretty shocking. My brother's girlfriend is great, and I have, for a while, been aware, if less so than the rest of my family, that she is probably 'the one'. But I guess it was just a shock to find out that even though he hasn't proposed, he and his girlfriend have talked and are actually planning on getting married sometime in the future. If not next summer at the soonest, then whenever she gets out of grad school in the next few years.

...I....

I'm going to have a sister, basically.


It's a weird thought.

I guess I just wonder what it would be like to want to spend the rest of your life with someone like that. It must be a great feeling...

1] What is your character's name?
Meron. I haven't worked out a surname for him yet, but I may not even give him one. He's an orphan, so he shouldn't need it.

2] What is your character's name in another language?
Okay....*googles it* So Meron means 'soldiers' and originates from the Hebrew language. So...roughly it translates to 'senshi' in Japanese. Neato!

3] How old is he/she?
I've set his age at about thirteen.

4] What is your character's race/species?
Meron is just another human, though it can be argued whether his is 'special' or not...no one seems to know where he came from, including himself.

5] Do they have a crush?
No, not really. Meron lives a pretty isolated life and I doubt he's ever even met a pretty girl before. Or at least, one anywhere near his own age. I'm sure he considers his 'aunt' as being pretty.

6] Do they have many friends?
Just a few. Mainly it's a fox named Canderon and a boy named Sal who may not really be a friend...

7] What planet is your character from?
Certainly not Earth or anywhere near it. I have a lot left to work out for the world he lives in, but it seems to be dominated by pretty extreme climates...tundra, desert, sea. Meron lives in one of the few mild areas.

8] Does your character like to eat?
Do thirteen year old boys like to eat?

9] What's his or her favorite food?
Surprisingly enough, he really likes fresh vegetables and tea.

10] What's his or her favorite drink?
Tea, particularly if it has something spicy like cinnamon or peppermint.

11] Is your character annoying?
I wouldn't think him to be any more annoying than other people his age.

13(WHERE'S NUMBAH 12?!)] Is your character loved?
Of course! His 'aunt' loves him, Canderon adores him and even a screwy guy like Sal feels some semblance of affection for him. He's a loveable little boy.

14] Is your character hated?
By the antagonist? Yes. He is hated very much by that person.

15] Is he/she emo/goth?
No. I don't think goth even exists in his world. Angsty emo-pinatas maybe...But Meron isn't one of them.

16] Is he/she straight, bi or gay?
Straight. I don't think the notion of liking another guy could ever cross his mind. He's actually very 'traditional' about things like that.

17] Is he/she a virgin?
HE'S THIRTEEN SO HE'D DAMN WELL BETTER BE. (yes.)

18] Name three hobbies.
Uh...camping in the woods, climbing trees and, eventually, traveling.

19] Is your character normal?
I'd say so. Maybe a bit more gullible than most...

20] Is your character attractive?
He certainly will be when he gets older, I think. But for now he's just a 'cute kid'.

21] How does your character handle emotions?
Fairly normally, I think. If he's angry, he yells, if he's sad he cries and he smiles and laughs when he's happy.

22] Does your character have other forms?
I'm still working on that. He's a 'hero', but I haven't decided if there's anything truly special about him yet. Maybe.

23] Does your character overreact?
Sometimes, obviously. He's only mortal.

24] Is your character a criminal?
No ways!

25] Does your character go to school?
In the world he lives in, it's mostly just nobles who can afford that kind of thing. Aside from that, he lives miles away from any kind of proper town. So no. He can't even read.

I've been playing through the Legend of Zelda: Minish Cap again recently. I'm in the Castor Wilds, which you have to traverse before reaching the third dungeon. THEY SUCK. Literally, because it's swampland and you need the super cool Pegasus Boots to get across the mire...but they suck, yeah. All this finding special kinstones and fighting giant cyclops statues and DAMN SNAKES and all that...I can't even imagine how much yelling will be done by the time I get to the Wind Palace and Dark Hyrule Castle. Vaati is a damn pain in the ass, but damn he is SO MUCH COOLER THAN GANONDORF.

Seriously, Ganny. Giant pig? Lame. LAME.

Anyway, while we're on the topic of Zelda, there are TWO new games being made! I recently read the article pertaining to the next Wii Zelda game. AWESOMSAUCE, man. Seems like it will come out sometime in 2010, but I don't know if they meant in Japan or in the US.

But really, it seems like there are going to be alot of new, great games coming out next year. The remakes of Pokemon Gold and Silver, Heart Gold and Soul Silver will be coming out, and of course I want Silver(LUGIAAAAA). Along with that, Zelda: Spirit Tracks and the next Wii Zelda, as well as a Mario for Wii that includes a four player adventure mode! If a new Harvest Moon or Fire Emblem game comes out next year, too, I may just explode with joy.

Hm, what else? My brother started school yesterday, he's a sophomore in high school. My mom also got back from Connecticut on Sunday, where she was helping my oldest brother move into his apartment on Yale campus. My older brother started classes at the local university last week. And my little brother also bought a tiny, adorable netbook. And I got a new CD. (Cartel Chroma)

I kind of started reading what DN Angel scans I can find. Looking back it's very nostalgic. When my friend Kate(aka Miss-Couru) first got me into manga way back when, the first three volumes of that series were what she loaned me. I totally fell in love with Daisuke's sweet personality and have suddenly realized that some of my Zelda OC Lance's personality traits are taken from him. Subliminal influence!

I've also been playing a little Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones. And dammit, Vanessa and Franz WON'T STOP DYING. And Seth WON'T STOP KILLING JOSHUA who I know for a fact is a valuable freaking asset if you recruit him because Caleb keeps talking about how awesome he is. DAMMIT SETH FRANZ VANESSSSSAAAAAAA.

Also, Neimi is adorable. And so is Vanessa. They're adorable. I lurves them both. And Ewan, too, even though I won't be able to meet or recruit him for however many chapters yet. But I watch my brother play...

Actually, if Franz had more health and Vanessa had better defense I might be in better shape. Because Vanessa + Javelin = mass murder from my experience, and Franz has a strong, steady attack rate and fair speed. They'd be so damn useful if they could stay alive! And I don't even need to mention that Seth is a motherloving powerhouse. I have to keep him at the back sometimes just so other fighters can gain experience. *sigh*

Darn it...I wish I weren't so gawd awful at strategy games, because they're freakin fun. I like them. And FE has the support conversations to provide fun insight into the personalities of its characters! BONUS~

So, what be up, everyone? I haven't done a real journal update in a while, so here I am.

So, some of you might know already, but my birthday was one week ago today. I've been seventeen for seven days! But on to other things.

I had my 'arty' yesterday, which was really just abducting Sensei(my manga tutor turned best buddy) for the day. My present from her? A pair of sunglasses and....dun dun dunnnnnn!

HOLES IN MY EARS!

I got my ears pierced, and she paid. Also, she got her doubles that day, so now she has double piercings. Coolness. After that we ran around and did some errands she needed to do, ate at Taco Bell(a tradition for our outings xD) and then I pulled her into a video game rental store to graba copy of Twilight Princess.

So, here's the thing. Sensei(remaining unnamed because she would probably prefer that) is almost twenty-seven, and she grew up with the ORIGINAL Zelda video game. Until a few weeks ago, she hadn't even played Ocarina of Time, the poor thing. Luckily, yesterday I added her to the ranks of Link fangirls all around the world. We love playing video games with pretty boys in them <3

Anyway, other than that, I've finally been enrolled in a GED study class. I'm the only person there under eighteen, and I'll be attending on Tuesday and Thursday evenings.

Aside from that, I've been working a little more on my fanfics. Aside from Stargazing, a Zelda fanfic set post-WW and PH, I'm working on DemonSong, a Zelda/Naruto crossover set in the OoT era, and recently began rewriting my very first chapter fanfic, which I originally called Soul: Tainted. It was a Naruto AU, starring Naruto, Gaara, and the other jinchuuriki(that means Kenji, too.) as assassins working for an infamous guild called ANBU. I'm in the progress of writing the first chapter, which is already promising to be much longer than any of the chapters in the original version were, and much more fun to read, I hope.

In other news, I'm trying to badger my younger brother into getting a fanfiction.net account. He'd been talking to me near the beginning of the year while I was still sick, and saying I should 'ester him into writing a fanfic sometime' and now I'm holding him to that. So far, all I've gotten from him are some cell phone notes about an original plot bunny, but hopefully I'll be able to enlist some of you into critiquing his writing sometime soon

My older brother (the one still living near home) is now working as a waiter at Rib Crib, a very awesome rib restaurant for those of you who don't know. It may have the best ribs ever, in fact. Also, if you read my last journal, you know how much respect I have for waiters and such, who have to put up with all kinds of flak from people. Now Jaron is among them; he's officially cool.

My dad finally has a new job, by the way. He's selling flexible cooking equipment. 'Food grade silicone' he called it, and jokingly said it gave a whole new meaning to the phrase 'bite me'. Anyway, we own some of it ourselves, and it really is amazing stuff. It's completely non-stick!

Also, you remember STAND, don't you? That Zelda doujinshi I started working on? Well, I've been fiddling around with the story and characters a bit again, while I wait for dad to have time to help me set up the scanner, so that should start showing itself once more when I have access to scanning equipment again.

Other than that, not much else is happening. It's very hot here in the midwest, and I'm thankful for air conditioning.

To those interested, I did indeed have a great time. Maranatha Bible Camp sits right off a lakefront; during free time us campers can do anything from tubing, waterslides, kayaking, The Blob, even just swimming. There's also a small skate park, rock climbing walls, a totally awesome snack shop and gift shop.
The speakers were really great. Initially, for our rallies and chapels, we had a guy named Eddie come in and talk to us about leadership. Lectures included lots of great movie clips. (E.g., the Two Towers, the Patriot, etc.) and stories about his seven kids. The band that came and played was called Julian Drive and they are SENSATIONAL. I bought a t-shirt and cd and am very satisfied over all with the experience I had at camp this year. I think the only downside is that I went with a cold that proceeded only to get worse. I had a persisting fever all of yesterday and couldn't get in the water. DX

Anyway, had a great time, am back now, missed everyone. *goes and reads the new Naruto chappie*

It's actually a very new, revamped version. I finally went back to work on the old one and realize I hadn't been putting any effort into it, so I threw it out and started working my ass off. Despite finally nailing down a half decent plot and stuff, I got hit with writer's block a bit into the second chapter (first really, since it started with a prologue) and stopped working on it for awhile, instead beginning to pursue the plot bunny that became DemonSong. Which, incidentally, I am still working on, because it broke my writer's block and I can keep working on it without needing to do much plot writing, because it's a semi-novelization.

In other news, my dad finally has a new job. He'll be working out of the home, so a lot of setting up and stuff is going on to get him some office space. We have our old internet back, but the current weird setup of the house has limited us to Jaron's laptop and one of our three desktops; another one of them is broken(damn fan) and another has a lameass filter. Anyway, with fortune, I'll be able to start scanning drawings again soon and SPAM YOUR ASSES HAHAHA.

It's hot, here in Topeka. Really, really hot. Like, 95 degrees hot. Farenheit, of course. I can't and DON'T want to imagine things in Celsius. I'd break my brain doing the math D:

I'm still working, back at the daycare this week after a strenuous battle with food poisoning. I'm feeling alright now, though I'm back to waking up sort of early. My body misses sleeping until noon, even if it doesn't miss the puking four or five times a day.

I got to go to the zoo a couple of weekends ago with my best buddy. Incidentally, the guy she likes is a zookeeper, which is awesome and now I want to meet him. We saw otters there. I love otters. Otters are cute and cuddly and playful and ADORABLE. I bought her a snow cone afterwards, and McD's. Giving her sugar might have been a bad idea in retrospect, but I managed to force her into playing Ocarina of Time! She's twenty-six, so she grew up with the original Zelda game and hasn't played any of the remotely newer ones. She made fun of the bad graphics and was a little annoyed at first, but she didn't want to stop when it came time for her to leave. Next time she'll probably make me entertain her by playing Kingdom Hearts 2. (STUPID SPACE PARANOIDS I HATE YOU I HATE YOU I HATE YOU)

I've been working on a few character sheets, trying to teach myself to draw better, faster, and doing two inch square little snapshot pictures of multiple people for pose practice. I've done a character sheet of Lance as he appears in Stargazing (he's a little older for the next story I plan to use him in), and one for Mido as he appears in STAND, the doujin I am/was working on. I plan to get back to it eventually, but not until I've improved my comic writing skills. I've been practicing that too; a couple of cracky little Naruto comics involving kitsune spirits and time travel.

Also, I realized suddenly that I'll be seventeen in just over one month. August 2nd is closing in a lot faster than I thought it was going to...wasn't it January yesterday???

With my dad's new job, Cubby will still be able to go to the same school with the same friends; I'm happy for him. We're going to try and get me into a class to study for my GED this fall, so wish me luck there. Shane will also start at Yale with his 85 frickin' percent scholarship this year. Cray-zee stuffs!
Also, two Sundays ago at church I got to see, for the first time in like, three years, our old children's minister, Erinleigh. I spent a good portion of my childhood worshipping the ground she walked on. She got married and moved to Georgia, and I'm taller than her by like an inch! Score! I poked a little fun at her for it and helped her take care of the little hellraising children with my brother and our friend Samantha that morning.

I've also discovered that I'm beginning to grow the fabled 'eyes in the back of the head' thing that all moms seem to have after working at Lisa's daycare for nearly a month now. I know exactly what they're all doing at all times, it's almost scary. "Don't you dare hit her, Chase, you'll regret it." "Shane give him the truck, don't look at me like that." "Adria, use the toilet. Not the couch."

I also got 'senior' pictures done. Really, more of a celebration of my first full time-ish job, I guess. "You're a senior in our hearts, Ivy." a bunch of people at church said that to me. I had to laugh. A lot of people have been complimenting me on the pictures and saying I should be a model. I don't agree. RACES:


Annitian
The Annitian race is the people around which the story is centered. In a way, I suppose they could be considered shamans, but not quite. They can not only communicate with spirits, but manipulate and shift their shapes to form a magic I'm temporarily calling 'Leviro'. As for looks, they all have yellow eyes, pale skin, and slender figures. They tend to move gracefully, and their abilities are somewhat superhuman.
The Annitian race is feared by all the other races in the world where the story takes place, and as a result the other races teamed against them, and either killed or imprisoned them all. The majority of the survivors(probably about 95%) are imprisoned in a large city enclosed by a white dome. Their uniforms consist of white jerkins and gray shorts, and they constantly have their wrists and ankles bound with manacles that prevent the use of their Leviro. Other than the poor treatment and servility they are subjected to, they have their own homes to live in, and several children have actually been born there and don't know anything else than the stone of the city.


Humans
'Nuff said! They're us, obviously, but I've set them as being untrustworthy for the most part in the story. They were the first to start killing off/enslaving Annitians, and used their sway in the political world to bring the other races around. Most of the guards in the Stone City(the Annitian prison) are human. Most of them see themselves as superior to all the other races, even though they are the weakest in body and heart.


Specters
GHOSTS! Hahaha, of course there are ghosts in the story. The Specters were the only race not to rise against the Annitians, because even though they are controlled by them, the Annitians were the race that was the kindest to them. They tend to remain in spirit form, but some have the power to take a solid form and walk among the other races undetected. They can be somewhat ruthless, but as a general rule they are soft-spoken and polite. Their eyes don't have pupils. Though I call them ghosts, they really aren't the wandering spirits of the deceased, they are their own entities and are born as spirits, and die as spirits.


Foxes/Kitsune
Staying true to my Otaku nature, I've planted the magical foxes from Japanese folklore into the story. The Kitsune tribe helped in rising against the Annitians. They are, of course, very crafty and love to play tricks on people, but they do not tend toward violence or spiteful behavior.


Shry
The Shry are another original thing of mine. They are considered 'messengers of death' and are a very malevolent people. They do not have eyes, possess claws instead of hands, and tend to hide their faces. Basically, a Grim Reaper. They were the first to join in the rise against the Annitians and were the most active in killing many of them.


Nomads
That's right. Nomads. The most reluctant race in the fight against the Annitians. The Nomads are people with a low tolerance for cold. Their eyes are reptilian, and they have very dark skin. Their knowledge in the healing arts is greatly respected among all the races.

Thomai Vendette: Essentially, Thomai is the main character. Originally, I used him in a short Zelda story, and he was a Sheikah. But when I came up with the idea for this story(still unnamed, dammit) I decided I wanted to use him; he's a fun character to draw and write.

Henri Vendette: Henri is Thomai's younger brother. I tend to illustrate him as being weak, but I'm still pretty fond of him. Maybe because he's cute?

Takeo? Never.

2. Does your character ever get depressed?
Not usually. But he is a victim of unrequited love(at least in the collaboration my sensei and I were working on with him), but he bottles stuff like that up. If he ever DOES get depressed, nobody knows.

3. Leader or Follower?
Takeo leads a genin squad, making him a leader. He has to keep three twelve year olds in line!

4. What are the main aspects of his personality?
Takeo is a cheerful person. No matter what happens, he always seems to have a smile on his face. He can get along with just about anyone, and he has a deep understanding of people, so his students are constantly coming to him for advice. But, when something upsets him, he keeps it bottled up, and he's very good at hiding emotions he doesn't want other people to see.

He's an only child, with no uncles or aunts. Both his parents died in Kyuubi's attack on Konoha.

Well, of course he is. He's twenty-seven!

In other news...

There's some really stupid kid who hangs out at the neighborhood park. Two, actually. One of them is about eight and cusses at people and tries to pick fights with people twice his height as if he'll kick their asses (my younger brother being one of them) and another is going around claiming to be eighteen when he's totally no more than twelve or thirteen.

I'd like to punch both of them in the face.

Pokemon Platinum comes out on the twenty-second! I'm broke because I bought a new CD!(Relient K) I'm sad! Oh well! Life goes on!
It's spring break over here. My seven year old cousin, Ben, has been spending the day over at our house today and yesterday, so we feed him and take him to the park and set him up with some video games to keep him entertained. The house is always a flurry of activity during school or work holidays. A couple of my brother's school buddies(and consequently my friends as well) live in the neighborhood and spend alot of time hanging out at our house because it's the biggest of the three. It's loud because they play Brawl and Rock Band the entire time, but I love every minute of it because they're such cool people. After I dropped out they kept talking to me and calling me to see how I was doing, and saying hi to me when I picked Caleb up from school. Most of my old classmates don't even give me a second glance anymore. Funny how you find out which people you can count on for support the most.

*slaps self for angsting*

Anyway, they're all playing Brawl and talking in falsely deep gravelly voices right now and generally being stupid boys, so I'm sitting here laughing at them. (and in some cases with them)

I also have another hospital appointment tomorrow, this time to see if we can get me scheduled for a sleep study to find out why in the hell I always have such bad insomnia and see if we can fix it. I also have fanfics to update! And doujin to work on! Holy crap!

So, of course, I'm totally psyched. I'd been mentioning to some friends at church that I was looking for a job and a lady who runs a home daycare said she'd pay me to come over and help over the summer. So, over the summer I'll be able to earn some money for myself and start saving up for that trip to Japan I hope to take next year.

In other matters, it turns out I'll be able to fly up to New York for my oldest brother's college graduation this spring. I have to pitch in for my ticket(so I still need to get some work done before summer), but nonetheless, I'll be able to see Shane graduate. *is super excited*

Aside from all of that, not much has been going on lately. I'm working on rewriting a couple of stories and the Zelda doujin I started, so expect something to be uploaded soon.

Well, I chose the name SouthpawSister because it describes me to a point; I am a Southpaw, or left handed, when doing things like eating, writing, or drawing. *sighs* A classic case of ambidexterity*sob* Anyway, Sister describes my family status. I am the only girl in a family with four kids!

So, I was walking around in the kitchen and looking for a snack or some lunch, and the magnet caught my eye.


What would I attempt?


I can honestly say I have no idea. I go around, and I say I want to be a writer and artist of comics and manga, but the truth is, I don't know what I want.

Upon realizing this, I further realized that I particularly wish for nothing, because I feel there is nothing here for me, and realizing this, I came to see that I look at myself with a very negative eye. I see myself as a good person, but not as someone who is worth anything.

Now, before you start telling me that it isn't true, STOP. I get it all the time. No, I'm not being a little emo pussy, I'm just doing my best to be honest here; I've been to therapy and counseling and all kinds of crap, I've tried antidepressants, but the facts are this: I am not happy with myself. I never will be, and despite my gratefulness that everyone around me is happy with who I am, I still am not.

I don't think I'm being to hard on myself, per se, but I can put it into better words by telling everyone that I just see my flaws more easily than I see my greatness.

Over the years, since I was very young, I've put on so many masks to please the people around me that I can't remember who I really am anymore. Obviously this is a very bad thing. Wearing a mask in the first place is a very bad thing, but as I am now, the who and what I am is merely a girl in a mask.

But listen.


That is not who I want to be.


And so, I'm asking everyone here(all my friends on DA, that is), to start asking me things about myself. Anything will do, but I'd especially appreciate something that will make me have to think. My guess is that if I want to find the self that I've lost(and before I continue, please pardon all the fancy language; it happens when I get depressed), then I need to be asked things concerning it.

GAH, MAH COMPUTAH ALMOST DIED AGAN~

Now that I've ranted, I'll get on with things. I mentioned before that I'd like to do a doujin this year, and set up some possible plots and subjects on which to base such an endeavor. In the end, I've decided to go with something completely different(FLEE THE MONTY PYTHON REFERENCE!).

When I was a kid(up until eighth grade, actually) I did a four panel comic strip I titled Crossing The Line, or CtL. It was centered around fraternal triplets by the names of Mike, Rex, and Timmy. Once I got into anime and started learning to draw it, the triplets and all of their friends just disappeared into the clouds of the past. Thinking back, I really regret that I ever dropped it, because I loved those characters(especially Mike) to pieces.

So, my final decision for my doujin is a manga version of CtL. I'm beginning character sketches for Mike, and Rex, Timmy, and a few of their friends are to follow.

Anyway, rather than focusing on comedy, I'm centering it introspectively on Mike, who despite being young has a very deep mind. It asks a question: What am I looking for?

Anyway, production is in pre-stages, so once I start posting pages, I hope everyone will enjoy it.

Anyway, happy 2009 or whatever.

I spent friday and saturday getting to know several of my eldest brother's college buddies who were in town for some sort of church seminar. As a result, I may have redefined their definition of sanity. As did my father, lol. Anyway, I had a pretty good time, I guess.

Anyway, I mentioned before that I want to draw a manga this year. I've started thinking through some possibilities for what I'd like to do, considering it. Most are doujin ideas.

1. A Zelda doujinshi involving the Sheikah and their hidden village. Will include Sheik and Impa as twins, and alot of Hylian characters turned Sheikah for the purpose of filling out the character roster.(e.g., Niko, Kafei, and Dark Link, aka Shadow.)

2. A Super Smash Bros. doujin, believe it or not. It's an excuse to use alot of my favorite characters in the same setting. Will probably be about showing the 'newcomers' the ropes.

3. An original doujin based loosely off of my perception of life and myself in general. The main character is a boy named Lorin South. Lightly philosophical, and maybe a little depressing, or at least sobering.

4. A Naruto doujinshi. The plot is an alternate universe. Naruto is a boy going to middle school and worrying about his adoptive brother, who is overseas. Iruka is, of course, the brother<3 Other characters I plan to include are Ino, Sai, Sakura, and Kiba.

5. A Digimon doujin Also an alternate universe. Hikari Yagami is a young girl who lives in Tokyo. One day, she meets a little boy about her age named Daisuke...who is in no way alive. Thus begins her adventure with two supernatural beings: Motomiya Daisuke, a suicide victim, and Vee, the guardian spirit that is trying to guide him to the afterlife. Cuter than it is morbid.

Well, whatcha think? I'm not sure which I should do. I definitely want to do Lorin's story, but I also wanna do a doujin, arrrrrgh!

Anyway, Christmas came and went again this year. I felt strangely drained yesterday. I suppose with all that's happened to me lately, it's to be expected. Anyway, now that Christmas is through, New Year's is right around the corner. I've started to put together a list of goals for 2009. Looking at it, I feel a little silly, but here they are.



1) Write a doujinshi or original short manga.

2) Excercise regularly and stay healthy(this one is really important)

3) Start a script for Thirst.

4) Pass my GED exam.(also very, very important)

Actually knowing me, I'll probably give up on most halfway, but...well, whatever! Gah. Anyway, that's all I have for now.

Gah, darnit! I have to start studying for my GED again...Really, science and math are going to be hell on me...I'm fine for Lit. and Social Studies...and maybe for history, but math and science will forever remain the bane of my existence.

Caleb has recovered from his mono for the most part(had I mentioned he had mono...?), and is going to half days of school to start himself slowly back onto a regular schedule again. My other brother Jaron is home for the weekend, and his piano skills make me as ill as ever. Stupid piano major!

Other than that, the only news is that my dad lost his job, which means we won't be eating out for awhile *going through fast food withdrawal* But, as a result, I'm thinking about taking up a part time job so I can pay for my own expenses and stuff...gas money, outings with friends, that kind of thing. I'm a little worried, but not at the same time. Anyway, that's about it, so I'll write again later. Ja, everyone!

Explanation: We found out what's making me sick. Apparently there are way too many of a certain sort of cell in my body. Long story short my immune system thinks I'm having an allergic reaction when in fact nothing of the sort is happening. Even better, it's easily treatable. They're putting me on Singulair for a maximum of twelve weeks. The dose and medication may need to be tweaked some, but in the end I'm still due to be healthy again soon.

Another thing is, apparently 2 of 3 children who get the condition I've got don't get it again once it's been treated, and the ones that do can just treat it again with the same medicine.

In other news...

Yeah, apparently my dog snarls at anyone who has prettier hair than him. Namely my eighteen year old brother Jaron. Seriously though, no guy should be allowed to have hair that pretty.

Thanksgiving is on thursday. I'm aware that several of my friends here aren't even from the US, but whatev. I'm excited because I get to stuff my face with turkey and sweet potatoes all day. Even though most of my in-town relatives will be out of town. Which is alot considering two of my mum's siblings, their spouses and their five collective children as well as my grandma live in town. So it'll just be me, my immediate family(save for Shane, who is in New York for college and can't fly down for such a short break...*snifflysniff*)

I have also decided that parkour must be declared an art form. What those guys can do is fricking COOL.

Well, I went to the hospital on monday. We still don't know what's wrong, but we certainly are closer than before. They had both my mother and myself fill out some questionairres and after evaluating mine they've said that my severe depression is definitely having an influence on my condition, but no causing it. They said I have something called gastric dyspepsia(and I don't know how to spell it...), which is showing ulcer like symptoms without having an ulcer. Anyway, this coming monday I'm scheduled to have a scope and some biopsies done to see what's going on, so little by little we're getting closer *cheers* woohoo! I might get better soon!

On top of that, though my younger brother(Caleb) has this wicked-ass sinus infection and has been home from school all week. This being his first year in senior high, I'm sure you understand how that would be a problem. Especially since he's missing his Latin readings elective. They actually read full pages and books of Latin and translate them in that class. He was specially invited by the teacher, Mr. Martin, because he's so bright, but brightness doesn't help when your head and sinuses hurt so much that you can't concentrate on anything but the brainwashing qualities of Super Mario RPG, Shining Force 2, and Mario Kart Wii.(CRAAAAAAAAAB!!! LUIGI!!!!) Ironically, his favorite character to use is Rosalina.

I've decided that I need to save back up and buy a new copy of Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones. I miss that game, and it was the easiest one of the three I've played. An' I wanna get far enough to do the Franz/Amelia supports, darnit! I never even got far enough to join up with Ephraim! D: Cuuuurses~


Does anyone else think that a NarutoxBlood+ crossover would be the kickin'-est thing ever? I do. I mean, come on! Think of Sasuke using a fire jutsu to incinerate a chiropteran! Or Naruto releasing Kyuubi and going ape shit on one of Diva's chevaliers!(preferrably Amshel, he pisses me off) Not that anyone reading this has even seen Blood+ *pouts* so alone...

Halloween was on Friday. It was the most fun I've had since being sick, despite scaring a group of kids without meaning to(I feel so unloved DX).
My friend's mom gave me a handful of twizzlers and my mom bought me a package of Kit Kats, so despite not getting to go trick-or-treating I still got sweets.
I did get out of the house though. My church does this thing every Halloween called Trunk-or-Treat, where everyone fills the trunk of their car with candy(or 'healthy alternatives') and parks it in the church parking lot. Starting at sunset all the neighborhood kids can come line up to go through and get candy. There are also all kinds of inflateable games. And obstacle courses, balloon animals...it's an eight year old dreamland. If I'd felt better me and my black catty self would have joined my umbrella man brother in the jump palace, but I felt too worn out, despite my two or three huge cups of spiced cider. Hmmmmmm....

Anyways, I had a good Halloween.

Aside from that, this coming monday is my day at the hospital in Kansas City to find out what's wrong. I'm really praying for some answers, whether it turns out I'm actually sick or just crazy

Ech. Life sucks right now.

Aside from that, I've been attacked by EVIL PLOT BUNNIES!!!
That's right. *sigh* I've got plots for great fics swimming in my head that refuse to put themselves properly onto paper because of the nagging conscience telling me to finish the fics that I've already started. A little frustrating, but I've written down the basic plots so I won't forget them and can eventually write them.

*sighs* As the mood emoticon says, I am indeed distracted. I think it's just anxiety concerning my upcoming hospital visit and if everyone would keep me in their thoughts on the 10th I'd appreciate it...

Enough of that depressing stuff.

Frankly the more I figure out about Reaux, the more I like him. I tried writing him interacting with Loki and the fact that they were blatantly flirting was absolutely hilarious. I never thought any character based off of me(even loosely as Loki is) would be that forward. It was appalling and hilarious at the same time. Ahahahaha

Also, Tiel Belliere is a badass. There's just no way around it. What spear wielder ISN'T a badass?...Wait, don't answer that. You'll burst my happy bubble.

I saw about twenty Batmen and ten Ironmen on Halloween. I did special stuff for everyone I saw.

For the Batmen: "(deep breath) ...BATMAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN!"

See that title? See it? I came up with a name for my manga!!!

It's called Thirst, though that is still open for editing at this point. Today I'll give you bios for a few of the characters from it, as well as what I've come up with for Reaux, who I mentioned in my last entry.

BUT FIRST. No, seriously. We got me an appointment at a hospital to figure out what's wrong with me. Great, ne? I'm glad we finally can, but it's still a little less than a month away. November 10 is the set date. So far, nothing too terrible is wrong, we just don't know WHAT THE CRAP IT IS, so we don't know how to resolve it.

Next!

Thirst. First of all it's based on the virtual reality concept. I actually managed to come up with something that I hope is pretty good. I'm not going to explain it right here, but I'd be happy to tell you if you note me. I only have just a few characters planned out so far, but I'll give them to you here, as I don't think that will spoil much -if any- of the plot.


Tiel Belierre
Originally, all my characters had Japanese names. Tiel's was Kitaooji Ao. In the end I decided to do something a little more original and came up with my own names for all of them. Ao means 'blue' and Tiel sounds like teal, so the first name hasn't changed too terribly and it still gives the impression of a color.
On to his personality. Tiel is quite the troublemaker, despite being very serious about school and life in general. He grew up in the slums of his city, which not only contributed to his rough style of speech, but to his knowledge of the underground that he is constantly forced to deal with.
Age: 15
Hair: white w/blue streaks
Eyes: aqua green
Proportions: 5' 10", 135 lbs, all muscle. Pale.
Apparell: jeans, hooded vest, bandana on head and high top sneakers.
Others: Lectures make his ears bleed

Sendra Terrens Crowe
Her name was previously Yui. She's very quiet and when she speaks, it's usually something completely irrelevant or absolutely, terrifyingly hilarious. Think Hanajima from furuba if you want an idea of her voice tone. She grew up in the heart of the city and prefers cloudy days to sunny ones. Perfect, consideringthe sky is always dreary where she lives.
Hair: dark brown
Eyes: amethyst purple
Age: 14
Proportions: 5' 4", 125 lbs., somewhat thin, but not frail.
Apparell: dress, but it's covered by a black trench coat 8D. Hiking boots.
Others: I AM ERROR.

Erret Crowe
Yes. He is Sendra's stepbrother. His name was originally Ichimura Kyou. He's gruff and has a bit of a temper, but he controls it fairly well. He grew up in the country until his father remarried, then he moved to the city. It's suspected that the reason for his temper is because he dislikes the cloudy sky.
Hair: dark blonde
Eyes: steel gray
Age: 19
Proportions: 6' 0", 150 lbs, well built.
Apparell: High collared fleece jacket, khaki pants, hiking boots.
Others: AMINALS .

Proportions: 6' 2", 140 lbs, very built. (He's a beast. I'm seriously scared of him.)
Others: A juvenile delinquent who spent three years locked up. Refuses to reveal why, but he doesn't seem to be dangerous. Rough around the edges, but kindhearted. Lives with his older sister. Doesn't speak with his parents.

That's all I have so far. He's supposed to be flexible enough that I can use him in any fandom I need him for, and I hope I've done just that.

STILL SICK DAMMIT! And I've fallen too behind in schoolwork to catch back up, so here I am, starting to study for my GED. It really doesn't bother me as much as I thought it would. I suppose it's the realization that not finishing high school(sort of) doesn't necessarily make me some kind of idiot.

And it doesn't.

Besides that, though a GED isn't the same thing as a highschool degree, it has the same value, and I can still go to college if I decide to.

I suppose that being home sick so much, I've gotten quite a bit of time to think about it seriously, and really, I'm not a bit depressed about it. Granted, I now feel rather more out of place among my former peers, but then again, looking back, I always have. I suppose our minds are just worlds apart in some regards, and though I love them all dearly, I just can't seem to relate to them these days. That too doesn't bother me as much as I thought it would, or as much as it used to. I have yet to realize why, though.

I hate loud noise. Did you know? I really hate it, and for that reason I hate going to concerts and other things like Caleb's soccer games. It's always so loud there, and I feel like I'm being crushed by all the noise. It was really bad at the most recent one, because I already wasn't feeling at my best, and was tired. I get VERY irritable when I'm tired. Thus, I spent the majority of the game as far away from the noisy student section as possible, huddled up in my thick green air force parka and a blanket. It was really cold that night.
It's also been really stormy lately. Our house is fairly old; at least a good few years older than Shane, who's twenty-two in December, and as such, if there's a storm, you KNOW it. Urgh, it's frustrating. And the internet has been screwy too.

And I suck at math. Stupid math.

I'm trying to see what I can do about getting a scanner installed on the family computer; it'll have to wait until my dad has time to help me out with it though. EVENTUALLY I WILL SPAM YOU WITH STUFFS
On to what I've been drawing lately. As you know I posted some facemaker junk recently that will most likely be moved to scraps very soon. Four of those were the rpg personas(per se) of my brothers and I. I've started more carefully designing them and fleshing them out to where they are no longer personas, but more characters based loosely off of my family and myself. One or two names have been changed as well. For instance, where my oldest brother was once 'Getzo', he is now 'Lucio'. For now, Jaron is still Citius. Caleb will stay Slash, because it's easy to remember, and mine will remain Loki, because it just stuck more than Tani did, though she now has my natural hair color(a very light caramel brown) rather than my dyed color(chocolate brown...it's starting to fade...)

I also made a new OC for generic use in any fandom that I so choose. His name is Reaux(pronounced 'roe', and I only have him semi-developed so far, but I like him alot
I've also been doing more with a manga/graphic novel plot that I've been working on. I'm changing it some to be more independent of the stories that have influenced it, and most of the names have been changed. I still don't have a title worked out yet. I'm not sure whether it will be read right-to-left or vice versa. Maybe I'll post a little snippet of the intro I'm working on in script form with my next journal entry, I'm not sure.

And it's a little troublesome having my ff.net accont name different from my DA name, but I'll deal with it. SouthpawSister explains me well enough, as does TheFinalCountdown. SouthpawSister because I'm left handed and am the only girl of four kids, and TheFinalCountdown because I'm such a dork for dramatic sounding stuff in general

I've run out of journal-ing steam for the moment, so I'll write again another time. Just though I'd give everyone an update. I'm not dead
