I haven't updated my journal in an age, an I just read this meme in ZarathePirate's journal, so I thought I'd fill it out, using one of my more neglected new OCs. I haven't written much on her yet, so this was an intersting experience.

Rules
1) Pick one of your FCs/OCs
2) Fill in the questions/statements as if you were your FC/OC
3) Tag 3 people at the end of the quiz

1.)What's your name?
Tseng Xue Xiang - everyone calls me Xue! Except for the eunuchs, but they're jerks.

2.)Do you know why you were named that?
Uh, it was a pretty name? I think that's pretty much it.

3.)Are you single or taken?
Absolutely single, though I do have a crush on someone!

4.)Have any abilities or powers?
Um, I'm very good at dusting, and I can clean for a long time without getting bored... oh! And I can beat the tar out of people with my bare hands! And feet, and knees, and elbows...

5.)Stop being a Mary-sue.
I'm a maid. I don't know that anyone on minumum wage who spends most of her time in the company of a broom can be called a Mary-Sue.

6.)If you fought a wrestler who would win?
Ooh! What sort of wrestling? And what gender? I do better against men, they usually underestimate me. I'm pretty good with freestyle wrestling, and sambo, but Greco-Roman gives me some trouble - it's a bit more restricted, I suppose.

7.)Have any family members?
I have my mother and father, though they're a long way away; and I have several brothers and sisters. I haven't seen any of them in years, though...

8.)How about pets?
No; I live in the servants' quarters here at the palace, and we aren't allowed pets. I sometimes feed the koi in one of the ornamental ponds, though.

9.)Tell me something that you don't like.
The Eunuchs. They're not only power-hungry, manipulative, and posessing of absolutely NO regard for anyone but themselves, but they're darn creepy too.

10.)Something that you do like?
I like sunflowers, and Xinke, and the Empress.

11.)Do you have any activities/hobbies that you like to do?
I do like to clean, but apart from that... I like reading, actually.

12.)Have you ever hurt anyone in any way before?
Yes. Yes I have. It was necessary.

13.)Ever...killed anyone before?
Of course not! Sparring matches are strictly regulated!

14.)What kind of animal are you?
Uh, human?

15.)Name your worst habits.
Uh. Getting crushes on completely unattainable men?

16.)Do you look up to anyone at all?
I admire my mother very much. She left home when she was so young, and made it on her own for a long time. Also, she found a womderful man like my father.

17.)Gay, straight, or bi?
Uh, straight, as far as I know. It's not something I think about that much, really. I have too many other things to do with my time.

18.)Do you go to school?
No, I work full time. I'm not exactly uneducated or anything, I just don't have the piece of paper.

19.)Ever wanna marry and have kids one day?
Yes, but I don't think it'll happen for a few years at least. I'm only eighteen, and I have so much work to do at the moment, what with one thing and another...

20.)Do you have any fangirls/fanboys?
Uh, no? That would be pretty weird.

21.)What are you most afraid of?
Uh. Um. Ah. Can I skip this one? It's a little personal.

22.)What color is your hair?
Black, stright, bob cut. It's important to keep it out of the way in my job, so it's easier to just keep it short.

23.)Eyes?
Black.

24.)What do you usually wear?
My very, very, emphatically unkinky maid uniform. Black dress, long sleeves, skirt just past the knee, white petticoat a few inches longer, white collar, white cuffs, white apron, white stockings, black shoes, and, yes, that slightly frilly head-band-thing with the ribbons.

25.)Do you wish this quiz is over?
This was a quiz? No one said it was a quiz. Is this getting marked?

26.)Well, it's still not over.
Oh. Was that a question? Or what?

27.)Anyways, where do you live?
The servants' quarters of the Imperial Palace, in China.

28.)What class are you? (Low class, middle class, high class)?
Working. I'm a maid.

29.)How many friends do you have?
A few. No really close friends, but there are a few other girls on staff who I'd call friends.

30.)If you would change anything about you, what would you change?
I'd be taller. No one respects a tiny, cute girl in a maid uniform. NO ONE. I could be holding a rocket launcher and they'd laugh it off.

31.)What is your thought on pie?
I haven't eaten pie since I was six...

Vitally important messange to all Otaku-type people in the Hobart area! 10 am, Sat the 26th of September on Parliament House Lawns, there will be a picnic, with various members of DigiVisiPop Soc [the group in charge of AIcon]. It'll probably be '$5 or plate of food' entry, so... yeah. There will be Soc fliers, and probably a number of people in cosplay, and after the picnic there is an anime screening on.

Because this would be a really bloody short journal elsewise, I'm going to do a meme I saw recently.

Name Meme
Write out the names of your characters and explain
1) how you thought of their name
2) what made you create the character in the first place
3) how the character has changed over time (if they have changed)
4) any random fun fact about that character

Quintan Soma
1) I took Quentin - meaning 'fifth' - and decided it sounded too dorky. So I went with one of the variations, and there you have it.
2) I wanted to create a character for a Code Geass story, who would be suitably badass for that 'verse.
3) I only made him quite recently, so not much... though, I did decide fairly early on that I was going to give him siblings - LOTS of siblings.
4) He often bemoans his complete lack of a lovelife. Apparently, the bodyguard life is not for those who wish to do anything else with their time. Ever. At all.

...and other important news.

Alright, so. Those of you who've been paying attention will know that I have just gotten back from three days in Melbourne with Mum. This was mainly for the purpose of seeing Wicked, though obviously we did other things too.
On Thursday morning, we caught a plane out of Hobart at the disgusting hour of 6 o’clock. We got into Melbourne a little before 8, and took a shuttle bus to our hotel. We left our bags in our room, and strolled around the city a little, waiting for things to open. While we were wandering about, we stopped and had some gelati – which later proved to be ill-advised, but was fun at the time.
The first thing we did was visit the aquarium, which was particularly nice given I hadn’t been to an aquarium since we moved down to Tassie, over ten years ago. I spent a lot of time with my mouth hanging open in awe, with occasional exclamations of shock. The jellyfish were quite stunning, and so alien you could hardly believe they came from the same planet. There were green tree frogs [which were adorable], and later poison arrow frogs [which were about the size of the end joint of my little finger]; there were fish so well camouflaged in their tanks we stood there for several long minutes before we went ‘Aha!’; there was a special display of penguins [which were cute, but had too many people hanging about for it to be particularly fun]; there were turtles and terrapins and tortoises; and, my absolute favourite: there was a huge tank, arching over, under, and around a large room; containing fish, rays, and sharks. They were so stunning – there were rays about as big across as my arms could stretch. The only trouble with the aquarium was that it was constructed for a one-way flow – so if, near the end, you decided you wanted to go back and have a look at the eels or something, you were faced with the sudden problem of an escalator which, obviously, only went one way. Bit of a bother.
After the aquarium, we had lunch at a Spanish restaurant called MoVida. The food was great – especially the empanadias we tried, which were divine. This was when we regretted the earlier gelati – we had less room for lunch. We did manage to have dessert, though: I of course had churros, which are also known as Spanish doughnuts, with a very thick, rich hot chocolate for dipping. We also took lots of photos of the laneway MoVida faces out onto, which has a lot of very nice graffiti art [some of which has, sadly, been obscured by taggers].
In the afternoon, we went to the National Gallery of Victoria, which was pretty nice. We looked at some ancient Chinese grave goods; and a show of Imperial Chinese court robes, some of which were stunning. After a while there, we moved on to the Ian Potter Centre, which is just a couple of blocks away. Most of our afternoon spent, we headed back to the hotel for a nap before getting ready for the show.
After our rather overindulgent lunch, we didn’t really need dinner, so we headed straight to the theatre. The building in question was very large and ornate, with frills and fluting everywhere they could fit, and the obligatory pictures of classical gods on the ceiling. The spaces between the rows of seats were huge compared to the norm, which was nice – let us stretch our legs out. Upon being seated, we were informed by slips of paper on the arm rests that, for that evening’s performance, the role of Elphaba [the main character] would be played not by the usual actress, nor by her understudy, but by her understudy. We were a little worried about that, but the performance was great. In fact, the only person we were worried about was the woman playing Glinda [next most important character], but we weren’t sure if that was because of actual false notes, or just the overwhelming shrillness and irritating-ness of the character. It was a great night, though.
On Friday, we had breakfast at a little place I had marked out in advance, called Breadwell. I had a bowl of stewed fruit and some raisin toast with whipped honey-and-cinnamon ricotta, and Mum had something Middle Eastern I can’t recall the name of. After that, we caught the tram to the zoo, where we spent the day.
Because we arrived just after the gates opened, quite a number of the animals were still asleep when we first passed. Our route took us past the peccaries, the maned wolf [which looks like a very large fox with rather long legs, which is appropriate, because it is a member of the fox family], the lemurs, the big cats, the bears, the little cats [relatively little], the lions, the tamarins [which were so, so, so adorable], the platypus [which was in a very dark, very quiet room], the carousel park, the Japanese garden [which was rather small], the penguins [which did not want to come out and talk to us], the red pandas [who were out of sight, but for one asleep very, very high up in the fork of a...

This incentive represents this dimly-lit room just a minute in.
My heart beat-beat climbs in sync with captivate me as you shed your skin.
~~~
Alright. So, a great deal has happened since my last entry – particularly given that was last year. Yes, yes, bad Spiegel. Quite.
So. For New Years I and my brother hosted a Firefly marathon. That was really fun – even if I went to bed well before anyone else, and only one of my friends came. My mum watched a few episodes, and has finally agreed that Firefly is great stuff.
The next major event was AIcon. I helped out with some friends’ group cosplay – there were ten of us, all up, and all us of Collegiate or ex-Collegiate girls! It was pretty cool.
One of my friends [the Christian violist who likes Monty Python] has gone to Germany for eleven months, so I gave her a stack of presents – being as how she won’t be here for Christmas or her birthday or anything.
I also had all the wacky fun of starting at a new school – I decided, given my results from last year, that doing a year thirteen would be advantageous. I have been accepted into Uni, but I deferred for a year. At the moment, though, I’m studying Geography, Environmental Science, Psychology, and Australian Studies. I’ve even made a few friends! There’s Tamika, who I met on Orientation Day by the simple expedient of holding out a hand and saying “Hi, I’m Rebecca and I’m really bored.” She is very ticklish. Seriously – her forehead is ticklish. There’s Carlin, who’s a guy in my Enviro Sci class. He’s very sarcastic, and very nerdy, and possessing of very curly hair. And, finally, there’s Elle, who’s in my Psych class. She’s a rather pretty goth redhead. She’s smart, and cynical, and dislikes the Psych teacher even more than me.
Oh, and some wonderfully wonderful news – I may be going to Japan for two weeks later this year! My college has a two week trip from 29th August to 13th September – first we go to Hong Kong for four days, go shopping, and visit Disneyland there [I really want to meet up with Maple, a girl I knew at Collegiate]; then we go to Inokuchi, our sister school in Japan. We get home stays, visit Kyoto and Osaka, ride the train, visit Hiroshima Peace Park, and a place called Universal Studios. We also get lots of opportunities to shop.
I have been doing some nice art lately, but I haven’t really had a chance to polish it, given how much homework I’m getting at the moment. I’ll try and post some soon.
~~~~~~

"I will not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain."

So. My leavers' dinner was last night, and was pretty fun; aside from the fact we had to leave fairly early (like, 11:20).
But I'm not here to talk about that (no, really). I'm just here I tell y'all about a few things, out on the vast internets, that you might be interested in.

For the nerdy among you, I have a number of sites.
Firstly, there are two for those few of you with money to spend at this skimp time of year - thinkgeek-dot-com (www.thinkgeek.com), and ZeStuff (www.zestuff.com). Both have a range of brilliant toys, shirts, gadgets, and sundry other bits and bobs to brighten your day.

Second, there is, from the vast land of LJ; 1,175 things Mr. Welch can no longer do during an RPG [link]

There is also the wonderful news that the AICon crew have finally gotten their website up and running - [link] , to which I say: about bloody time!

From Cracked-dot-com, we have 'The 6 Most Badass Stunts Ever Pulled in the Name of Science' [link] .
In fact, while you're there, check out The 6 Deadliest Creatures (That Can Fit In Your Shoe) [link] , 6 Insane Discoveries That Science Can't Explain [link] , and maybe even 7 People Who Cheated Death (Then Kicked It In The Balls) [link] .

For the artistic among you (which would be most, I'm thinking, considering what site this is), there are also a few offerings. To begin with, if you have a while (and aren't about to hit your download limit), check out Peter Callesen's page [link] . His paper... uh, sculptures? Are really something. While you're at it. take a minute to check out Icaro Doria's 'flags' at [link] .
For a few funny little art-related news articles, we have Cleaning: public service or vandalism? at [link] ; and DIY MP 'told' graffiti he removed was art from [link] .
Because stupid people are funny.

Oh, and finally, there is the blog Every Person In New York which is pretty much what it sounds like. [link]

And, for a bit of heartwarming or hilarity, or just to burn a few minutes...
1) From the blog GajinSmash.net, there is the painfully heartwarming tale of Moeko's Owl ([link]). If you can read this and not be emotionally moved, YOU ARE NOT HUMAN.
2) For any and all fans of MST3K (and if you don't know what that stands for, you aren't), there is The Eye of Argon ([link]), a hilariously bad fantasy novel, mocked mercilessly. You may want to go to the loo before you read this, because it's absolutely frakking hilarious.
3) For anyone whose bored to tears of furries being the internet's favourite target, there is the article Hell Hath No Furries ([link]). Incidentally, the last comment on the page (yes, the unspeakably long one) is mine.
4) From Chapter 12 of The Acts of Gord ([link]), we have a funny little incident involving the collision of stupid man/Ninja Scroll.
5) After my brother nagged and nagged and nagged and nagged, I finally read the story Interviewing Leather ([link]). Allow me to say right now how deeply, deeply impressed I was by the whole thing - most particularly, the last couple of chapters.

That's all for now, though, who knows; I may be back in a couple of days.

~~~~~~
<img class="avatar" src="http://a.deviantart.com/avatars/s/l/slightlysinister.jpg" width...
Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.
- Att. Albert Einstein
Okay. Let me take this from the top.
I am the younger of two children. My brother is three years my senior. Thus, one would expect that by the time I began my schooling, my parents would have a reasonable idea of what works and what does not. This does not appear to be the case. My mother’s response to unfinished/overdue work is a perfect example.
Since primary school, I have been really, really bad at getting homework done and in on time (or at all). In many, many years, this has not changed at all. My brother has had similar troubles (though he is better at pulling his finger out and getting on to it than I). My mother’s response to a note or call from the relevant teacher seldom varies: she shouts a bit, expresses (really irate) disappointment that we didn’t just come to her for help, and storms off. Now, call me Mister Silly, but it seems to me that if you wish to be seen as supportive and helpful, YOU DON’T YELL AT PEOPLE ALL THE FREAKING TIME. Seriously – the few times I’ve gone to her for help before the situation became dire (generally for maths help, though once or twice for other things), she ended up treating me like a particularly obtuse retarded kid. Only without the patience most reasonable people show to retarded kids. If I said I didn’t know or understand a mathematical formula, she’d blame me for not knowing it, rather than actually explaining it.
And English. When I was doing my negotiated study for English, she regularly demanded to see my work. While she was okay with most of it, she had frequent criticism for the essay component. And that of itself was okay – I mean, she’s an editor, that’s sort of her job. But when I said I wanted to keep such-and-such a piece of phrasing, or that this paragraph was in fact important, she got really annoyed. And when, while she was repeating her list of ‘What I think you should change’ for the fourth time, I just stood and nodded and said ‘yes, mum’, she got quite angry. She shouted that she didn’t have to be doing this, that she had other things to do with her time, that if I thought it was good enough quality to hand in it was my funeral, etcetera, etcetera. But she was the one who asked to see it in the first place. Seems a bit stupid to me, to demand to see someone’s work and then treat it like an immense imposition to be looking at it.
But I think I’ve had enough of a whinge about my family for, say, the month. Now I’ll whinge about school.
At our school, as with so many, we have a thing called leavers’ week. This is the last week before the senior students finish classes for the year and go on study break for exams. The year 12 students are thus permitted to spend the week doing a variety of weird and wacky things, such as coming in to school in our pyjamas, pulling minor pranks, and generally making nuisances of ourselves. This all culminates in our last day, called muck-up day. The year 12s lie in wait for students arriving at school, and bombard them with water. Then everyone goes into the assembly hall to watch the year 12 revue, which will be the culmination of several individuals’ diligent efforts (for example, this year one friend of mine, our resident tech expert, did not sleep the night before, in order that the videos would be ready). Then we drown in the soggy sentiment, and leave.
As you may imagine, while this can be wonderful fun, it can also go quite, horribly wrong. If you live in Australia, you’ll have heard of a recent incident where the entire graduating class of a Melbourne school was suspended (pending criminal investigation), when a large number of students ran amok; getting drunk, trashing cars and property, and landing at least one person in hospital. Another, less extreme example was my experience last year.
I had found a way to sneak into the school without passing any of the entrances where people with water pistols and water balloons would be waiting, and was sitting in a quiet corner of the gardens, waiting for the bell to ring (so they’d have to stop and go inside) and clearing out the inbox on my mobile. It was thus that a grade twelve, light of heart and well armed, found me. She scolded me for being a party-pooper. I told her how little I cared, and that if she got my phone wet, grade twelve or no, I’d hurt her. She, of course, then proceeded to aim her water pistol at my phone, and fire. I put my phone down. I took my blazer off. Then I attacked. She ran away, I pursued. I spotted a water balloon, lying full and disregarded. I picked it up, and made use of it. Then I returned to my corner of the garden, simmering with righteous anger.
Shortly after I resumed my post, another grade twelve, who had witnessed the final stage of the earlier drama, ca...
He only has one story up so far – the rather creepy little work ‘A Fairy Story’ [link] – but he will hopefully put more up soon.
Those who have been paying attention will note that I have recently joined one of the many Organisation XIII clubs out there – one run by a friend, ~ KH-LostSouls. My character is Number XIX (nineteen, for those who can’t read Roman numerals), Xyrena. At the moment her ‘title’ is the Laughing Rogue, but that may change (particularly if I get any better suggestions). You may also note that I've posted my first mission - yay!
I am currently slightly SNOWED UNDER with work, so art is going to be pretty scarce until I can get all my current assignments in.
My dear little monkey, , has posted an... interesting journal with some rather sharp things to say about homophobia - [[link]
Buttercup has returned! Damnit.
This is a footer. It may eventually contain a variety of shiny icons and stamps for your viewing pleasure...
Or it may not.
So, by birthday party was yesterday. I had it at the local ice-skating rink (which isn't that good a place, actually...), and had seven friends (and my brother) in attendance. We had lots of fun, despite the irritating little children who seemed to be bloody EVERYWHERE! *Cough*. Yes.
So, at the moment, the present tally stands at: $50 [from my grandpa]; a very nice dress watch [from my Auntie Ann]; concert tickets (an upcoming Whitlams concert) [from Dad]; a shoulder bag containing: a small sketch pad, eraser, pen, pencil, folding ruler, book (What I wish I had known at eighteen), comic book (White Tiger), travel umbrella, compact 1st aid kit, and a Swiss Army Card [from Mum]; a box of strawberry Pocky []; a really lovely bracelet (and a very cool Goth-Lolita card) [from snoosethemoose]; a box of chocolates and another cool card [from Okapi-chan]; a **year's** **subscription** [HURRAY!] [from Cheerful-Pessimist]; a big pretty candle (fire yay) [from Karoodia]; the first volume of High School Rumble [from Frankie J (whose nickname I'm using because I'm not sure if she has an account or not)]; another two candles and a gift voucher for $25 for a bookshop from Mikki; and the entire first season of Stargate: SG-1 from a friend from school.
Quite a haul.
Now I have to decide what I'm going to do with the $25 voucher for bookshop 1, the $50 credit I've got with another (for being a frequent customer), and the $50 note in my wallet. Hmm... I'm thinking...
Books.
Also, can someone with a subscription tell me:
a) what all the shiny extras are, and
b) how to use them? Because I'm slightly lost at present.
Despite the... what, eight, nine months that it's been since I last updated this journal, I have neither abandoned it nor my account. I will shortly be posting some of my immense backlog of work, and hopefully will write in here a little more often too (though I think I'll wait until my hands mend before I write in here again).
The main prompt for my return is a key occurrence in my life:
:sings:
I just turned eighteen! I'm a legal adult now!
Yes! That's right! I am the first in my friendship group to pass the great milestone of adulthood!
Mind you... it doesn't actually make much difference. I don't like drinking, I hate cigarettes, I've yet to encounter anyone I want to have sex with anyway, I have quite some time to go before I even get my P-plates... so really the only difference is that I can vote, and I have to pay more for stuff.
Yay... *suddenly depressed*
...
On a completely separate note, one of our cars [we normally have two cars - the station wagon, which is Dad's, and is used to transport the dog (an eighty-kilo Great Dane, for those who don't know); and the Getz, which is small and yellow and named Buttercup] has had a rather nasty accident. The Getz, which my brother and I are mainly learning to drive in because it's a manual (and the station wagon is an automatic), currently has a large amount of its back smashed in.
What happened was: my brother was out for a driving lesson with Mum. As they were heading home, Charles stopped for a pedestrian. The honking great 4-wheel drive behind them... did not. And so most of Buttercup's back needs replacing.
It's just a good thing no one was sitting in the back seat at the time...
Right now, I'm having slight difficulty typing... I was just at taikwondo, and we were having a party for our head instructor, Steve, who has just recently graded - he is now an awesome-saucem 6th dan! There was cake (with a big yellow 'VI' on it), and presents (two shiny new punching bags), and enough sweets and fizzy drink to hype up a school's worth of little kids.
Pretty much everyone had a play around with the new bags, once Steve had 'christened' them (with a very impressive kick apiece). And, as a result of this... four of my knuckles are skinned (two each hand, obviously).'
Oh well, it was fun.
When I think of more news, I'll write some more.
Ciao!
Ok, to start off with: yesterday I played Kingdom Hearts II for over thirteen hours. THIRTEEN HOURS. I also decided that Disney needs to do better research on Greek mythology, because the Hercules world pissed me off SO MUCH. Oh, and Hades is really bad at picking foe for the heroes- last time he picked CLOUD, of all people (the seriously heroic guy from FFVII and Advent Children); this time he went on about how incredibly evil a bad guy this guy he'd picked was... they guy appeared... and I laughed. Loudly. And extensively.
It was Auron.
Oh crap... I've just been ordered to bed- I'll write more in the morning (honest!), so all I have to say for now is that I'm offering a once-in-an-existence opportunity for you to get me to draw a chibi of your choice. Any character you please. For the first ten people to ask!
1- Superfizz: herself
3- Lima-88: L ([link])
Ok, just to cheer you up after my last (distinctly gloomy) journal, I'll tell you all about something hideously embarrassing that happened to me last Thursday, and then I'll bring you up to speed on all the news.
In Tai Kwon-do, we were doing some free-sparring, and I came to spar against one of my least favourite sparring partners- my uncle Peter. He is the same belt as me, but is a) older, b) taller, and c) stronger, so he was pretty much kicking the sh*t out of me. I got a little peeved at this, and decided to go from the defensive to the offensive, and began driving him back. Then, I went to hit him in the face, expecting him to block...and he didn't. His nose sort of went 'crk!', and I spent the next few minutes going "ohgodsohgodihithimihithimohbuggerohbugge rihithim..."
When I got home and told Dad, he promptly called up my auntie Anne, who could not stop laughing.
Then, when I came into my parents' work on Friday afternoon, Dad told me that I had, in fact, BROKEN my uncle's nose. All I can say is- That's the first time that's happened...
Secondly, my birthday party was great. Michelle turned up with her viola, coming straight from orchestra, and played 'Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)' and pieces from the soundtrack of Pirates of the Caribbean, while other guest arrived. One person ended up not coming, and another was a trial and a half to pick up in the first place, but otherwise things went fairly well. When my Mum discovered that five (rather than the original three) people were sleeping over, she was... irate, but it was nice anyway. We all sat up until a bit after 1, and talked, and had a great deal of angst (of the nice, getting-it-off-your-chest type), and not a great deal of sleep. I discovered that dragging a futon mattress (about the size of the average double-bed mattress, if you don't know) from one end of a house designed on fung shui principles (which involves lots of right angles) to the other, is quite trying. I decided never to sleep on the couch again, if I can avoid it at all. And, in the morning, when I was going "I should really get up..." but couldn't muster the energy, Sophie pulled me half off the couch, so my back half was on the couch, and my front half was on one of the mattresses laid out on the floor. Then I pulled Sophie's blanket over my head- fortunately no one had a camera.
...Although some would argue. I have several, almost entirely unrelated things I want to say, so I'll dotpoint.
Firstly, I have but lately finished exams. I have also (and here I am relying on my parents not reading this journal, considering their almost complete lack of interest in DeviantART) gotten the results of two of my exams back- I am failing maths and ancient civillisations. I am also almost certainly failing English and art. I'm not sure about Into to Sociology and Psychology, but quite possibly. This leads me rather neatly to my next point...
I am currently extremely depressed. Really, really, 'I wonder how long it would take for me to bleed to death?' depressed. And depression isn't something I kid about, what with past experience. So just don't expect much out of me, OK? And don't try and get me to explain it, either. It's not, when viewed calmly and clinically, a particularly logical thought process that leads one to carving up one's arm.
I am actually doing a fair bit of art at present, but as it is on the wall in the art room and not in my art journal (something my art teacher is somewhat peeved about), I'm having trouble remembering to scan it. As this also involves accessing the graphic design labs, and figuring out how to use the computers there (they are Macs, while all the other computers in the school, including the laptops, operate under Windows (well, usually operate...)), it is slightly trying. I have, however, been practicing my calligraphy to good effect (i.e., about one in four attempts is passable), and I have also begun a rather good drawing of an angel (using a photo of my brother as reference, interestingly enough) in white on black paper (despite its total lack of planning, it sent my teacher into virtual conniptions of delight. She likes it when I draw).
My birthday is coming up, and for probably the first time I have the problem that I have more people to invite than I do space- well, no, that's not quite true, but as it has only been happening for the last two years or so, I still find it something of a shock. I'm still itching for one girl in particular to mention it (though I doubt she will), as one year she was invited to my party and, not only did she a) say she would come and b) then didn't; but she did not call at the eleventh hour to say "Sorry, can't come"; nor did she offer any form of excuse or apology. Better than one year though- I invited about seven people, five said they couldn't come, one came a good half-hour late, and one didn't turn up at all, having 'gotten the weekend wrong'.
Yeah, sure.
Last Monday we had no school (for complicated reasons), so I spent much of the day at Okapi-chan's place, swearing at her playstation and trying not to get killed by Axel for a fourth time. I HAVE FINALLY DISCOVERED KH2! HOSANNA!
*cough*
Erm... it was fun. It was extremely satisfying. And stuff.
Taking up Tai Kwon-Do was an unbelievably good idea. Everyone should do a martial art! They are _so_cool!
I am being ordered to bed- I may come and edit this later (when I'm in my right mind), and I may not.
8. Before you started this survey, what did you look at?
Fanfiction. I am on a mission to find well-written fanfiction. So far, I've discovered a few diamonds, amidst a whole lot of crap.
9. What are you wearing?
Elderly jeans, elderly jumper, fluffy socks, boots, and a tee shirt. And glasses, of course.
10. Did you dream last night?
Yes, but I can't remember anything of it.
11. When did you last laugh?
A few minutes ago, when I looked at the Wikiquote page for Babylon 5. There was one line...
"...you have that vacant look in your eyes that says "hold my head to your ear, you will hear the sea.""
12. What are on the walls you are in?
A peacock feather, a crosstitch sampler-thing, two doors and a window. And numerous spider webs, but we won't mention those.
13. Seen anything weird lately?
I looked in the mirror just this morning.
14. What do you think of this quiz?
It could be worse. Much, much worse.
15. What is the last film you saw?
Gettin' Square. A good movie, with David Whenam looking like a complete prat.
16. If you became a multi-millionaire overnight, what would you buy?
a) The contents of at least two bookstores, b) a lot of bookshelves, c) pay off parents' debts, d) pay off brother's debts, e) put aside money for own Uni fees, f) donate ridiculous amounts of money to every charity I want, g) ...I'll think about it.
17. Tell me something about you that I don't know.
I once read every volume of Sailor Moon in a week. Every-single-volume. That's a whole lotta shojo.
18. If you could change one thing about the world, regardless of guilt or politics, what would you do?
I'd erase the ecological damage of the last two centuries (except for in the Middle East & North-East Africa, where I'd erase the damage for the last two millennia). Then I'd send a note to John Howard saying "In your face".
19. Do you like to dance?
Not really. I'm as co-ordinated as a marionette in the hands of a two-year-old.
20. George Bush:
If he has a good point (from the perspective of an Australian teenager), then I've yet to find it.
21. Imagine your first child is a girl, what do you call her?
Michelle, Erin, or Sophia.
22. Imagine your first child is a boy, what do you call him?
Mikhail, Alexis, or Cristoph.
23. Would you ever consider living abroad?
Yes, just not in a) anywhere too cold, or b) the USA. It's complicated.
24. What do you want God to say to you when you reach the pearly gates?
Depends... I'm still trying to decide between "Oh no! It's you!", and "Hey, I wasn't expecting you yet...".
25.Tag six people who must also do this in THEIR journal:
Again, just do it if you feel like it.
*No, not really.
Don't worry, I'm no madder than usual. The above title, "Q&A with the OCs", basically translates thusly:
Some time in the dim, daark past, someone thought it would be a good idea to write out a set of questions for a writer to pose to their OCs (to those of us who have been living under large rocks for the last few years, OC=Original Character. Can, although not always (and hopefully not in this situation), =Mary-Sue/Gary-Stu), that they would a) answer, and b) send to another writer, with the challange to answer the questions for their characters in turn. And so on, and so forth... Anyhow.
Rules
1. Choose a few of your own characters. Five at the most.
2. Make them answer the following questions
3. Then tag three people.
Characters Chosen:
Rêve Noir
D.Gray-man fanfiction
Fion Black
halfFALLEN
1)How Old Are You?
Rêve [completely straight face]: Twenty or thereabouts. We Roma never kept very good records. Haven't aged in about three years though, which tends to throw people.
Fion: Physically, fourteen. Spiritually and mentally, 1,994. Or therabouts.
2)Height?
Rêve: Tall enough. Shorter than the Earl *automatic twitch*, taller than Allen.
Fion: *SNARL*
3)You Got Any Bad Habits?? (gives Truth-serum to characters)
Rêve: Foul language, and being too blunt. Hey, I call it as I see it!
Fion: Eat too much, sleep too much, slack off too much. Oh, and occasinally I lose my temper messily.
4)You a virgin?
Rêve: Nope.
Audiance: ... --
Rêve: And you ain't getting any details, either, so **** off.
Fion: I'm fourteen. FOUR-TEEN. And if curiosity still pricks you, turn around and shut your eyes... *raises sword* This might sting briefly.
5)Who's your Mate/Spouse?
Rêve: Tyki. And has been for the last... ooh, four, five thousand years? Something like that. The lifetimes pass so quickly.
Fion: See the above. Plus, for me to have a mate, I have to a) be attracted to someone, and b) have time in which to pursue a relationship. Neither of which seem real likely at this juncture.
6)Have Any Kids?
Rêve: Not this lifetime, bubs. I think I'd have noticed.
Fion: I really hope you get off this subject before I run out of stress balls, or Alex will get annoyed with me for getting blood on the ceiling again.
7)Favourite Food?
Rêve: Anything rich, and hot, that I don't have to cook myself, or pay for. That doesn't contain rabbit. Roast venison's nice.
Fion: Choolate mousse. Forget manna, _this_ is the food of heaven. Or it should be- next time I'm up there, I'm making some suggestions...
8)Favourite Ice Cream flavour?
Rêve: Huh? What's 'ice-cream'? Meh, I'll ask Jerry... and hope he doesn't pressgang me into the kitchen again. Oh, the horror...
Fion: Praline. Praline, when made properly, could induce miricals. Actually, it has- it got Py out of bed before 11 AM. THAT is a mirical.
9) Killed anyone?
Rêve: Yes.
Audiance:...
Rêve: What, you want to know WHO? Tch.... a whole lot of humans. A whole lot of Akuma. And one Noah. In case you were wondering, she (the Noah, dumb@ss) was the hardest to kill. And the most nessecary.
Fion: Yes. I may not have been in the war for long, but I did fight, and I did kill demons. And I've killed vamipres too, and the like, although those don't really could as 'anyone'. More 'anything'. Freaky -ers...
11) Hate anyone? Any Secrets?
Rêve: I hate the Earl of the Millennium; and that's no secret, 'specially after I went and joined his mortal enemies. That sends a pretty clear message, generally. Secret, secret... uh, I only started learning to read when I was seventeen. Road taught me (God that was embarassing). Fortunately, Bookman finished teaching me. A patient teacher he is not. Luckily, I can take a few flying kicks to the head easy.
Fion: A few angels (who shall go unnamed), a great many demons, one human (Katie-bloody-Howell), and one angelic-demonic-humanoid perversion of the laws of nature. And... not sure that it really counts as a secret, but I left heaven to guard Alex's (or Ifan, as he was then called) back. No other reason, really. Just that.
12) Love Anyone?
Rêve: Pretty much everyone- yes, even Kanda. It's in my nature. Allen and Tyki hold a special place in my heart, though. Don't tell Tyki, or he'll suggest checking. Messily.
Fion: My adoptive parents, and Alex. Mostly Alex, though. And I like the Cat. A little. When he's not trying to tear out my throat. which isn't often, little bas...
Ok... Few things to say here. Firstly, I'm now on my school holidays, so I may (or may not, I make no promises) be posting more work. My current major for art is a large picture of the Biblical character Judith holding the severed head of the general Holofernes (don't bother looking her up if you've got the Protestant Bible- it's only in the Catholic version). I decided that all the paintings of it were either too sterilized (like Boticielli's), or too sexualised (like Klimt's). So I decided to do one that was of a strong, beautiful woman, who had the guts to walk into an enemy camp and cut off this man's head (with his own sword, to boot), and then walk back out again, with the head.
Secondly, I now have a little sister. No, I did not buy her at K-mart; she adopted me. You see, I tend to hand around some rather odd people, and one of the people I've been hanging around with lately is called Sophie. Sophie is two years, six months, and two days my junior, about my height, with the same skin, eye, and hair colour as me. She has much the same sense of humour, she was also born in New South Wales, and she also does Taikown-Do. Naturally, about fourty people have asked if we're related. So now, Sophie has decided to adopt me as her big sister. How nice.
Thirdy, my strange friend jdwunbound, AKA Kitty (don't ask. Just don't), has done an odd little feature. What it basically consists of is this: Anyone who comments on the journal has the following responses given about themselves;
1- I'll answer with something random about you.
2- I'll dare you to try something.
3- I'll say a color I associate with you.
4- I'll tell you something I like about you.
5- I'll tell you something I always remember about you / a first memory about you.
6- I'll tell you what animal you remind me of.
7- I'll ask you something I always wanted to ask you.
...and, of course, they have to put it in their own journal.
I'm still doing the happy dance in my head, and it's been almost six hours.
Ok, clearly an explanation is in order- for the last ten weeks, I have been doing an evening class in Taekwon-Do. And today, I got to go for a grading (and, of course, actually _join_ the club). My first ever garding! And I passed! I have a belt! My own belt! With a colour bar on it!
...
And now I should probably go and take those sedatives, before I start giggling.
My instructor does, however, think I need to learn to channel my anger in a more positive manner.
Come to think of it, my councellor would probaly say the same. She says I have a strong sense of social justice (she actually said that about three times). I say that matters sweet F.A. If I can't/don't/won't do anything about it.
...
Sorry about that. I simply planned on a happy little announcement regarding my taking up Taikwon-Do, and it turned into Angst of the Day. Oh well.
Neil Gaiman, in case you hadn't guessed, is one of my favorite authors. I discovered him via my absolute favorite author, Terry Pratchett, and promptly fell in love with his odd, dark style. He wrote Sandman! He wrote American Gods! He wrote Neverwhere! Which is coming out on DVD somtime during June!
...
Sorry. Just getting a little over-exited there. But, still: I will be able to *watch* the telemovie/series (I'm not actually clear on which it is) of one of my favorite books. Read Neverwhere*!
*WARNING: The works of Neil Gaiman are not suitable for an emotinally or mentally immature audiance, as they contain violence, supernatural themes, sexual references, coarse language, character depth, plotline, philosphy, orignal thought, character development, well-written prose, and other such dangers.
4. jdwunbound- a character from one of his stories (I've had a few ideas so far)
Ok, first up, Blingie himself. Does a lot of stunning fractal work, and I had a hell of a time picking two peices to feature; but there you go.
Next up, dA-add1ct.
Death God: [link]
O Really: [link]
Um... nope. I've got nothing. I just happen to like the eyes here. Dunno...
Thirdly, there is Okapi-chan. I had to put her in, or she'd have viciously assaulted me. She's like that.
Ebon Magician Curran: [link]
Okapi-chan has many, many budgies. The trouble is getting them to sit still long enough to be gotten down on paper.
Blingie only featured three people, but I didn't want to pass up ancient-secrets, whose dragons make me think of Tolkein.
[link] Dragon Tatoo Again, is damn pretty. It looks like a good design to put on a shirt, too.
Dun_Beautiful Horse, [link] is very pretty indeed. I, myself, suck at animal anatomy. well, actually, ALL anatomy, but animal specifically.
And that's that. Clickie the links, I put time and effort into this journal.
Sick as a dog. A really sick dog.
I've decided I like vomiting less than having my tetnus shots, or having blood taken, or getting stitches... I really hate vomiting.
But, on the upside, I managed to get some work done on Blingie's request. Some of the stuff with limbs and angles is giving me trouble, but I can work on those.
Now, I just need to get better fast.
I have no idea why, but I just really want to write about something that happened last year- perhaps in the vague hope it will make someone feel a little better. Or not. Whatever.
Last year, way back in early spring (down in the Southern hemisphere, BTW), I went down to Salamanca Market one morning. For those who don't know, Salemanca is a street on the edge of Central Hobart, right next to the dock. It is one of the older areas of the city, and has many top-end art gallerys and shops. This, the handful of brilliant cafés and resteraunts, and the close proximity (YES, I really do speak like that. Often!) to both the curise ship dock and the CBD, ensure Salamanca is a popular spot for tourists. Added to this is the fact that, every Saturday, from approx. 8 AM to 3 PM, Salamanca Market is held, and you'll see why a nice sunny day at noon is the worst time to go, due to all five billion people there (the ones who take strollers...I have no words for it.)
On this particular occasion, I was in early enough, at about 10:30, that the crowds were minimal, and I was having a nice time when it started to drizzle, then rain properly. I, really, quite like rain, but as my glasses are not yet equipped with windscreen wipers, I am forced to put them im my pocket and hope I don't run into any sudden poles. Other than the blindness issue, though, I was still having a nice time. The rain was light, there was no wind, the crowds had thinned out even further, giving a nice feeling of having just the right number of people around, and when the rain stopped, everything felt *clean*. It was a few minutes later, when I was standing in a stall selling rough-hewn block of Tasmanian pine (Huon Pine has the most lovely smell- you can only smell it if it's unvarnished, though (mind you, only a nitwit varshishes good Huon pine- it's a natural golden colour all by itself, so varnishing it is somewhat gilding the lilly, to the detriment of the lilly)), and listening to a South American band a little way off, that I had a mini-epiphany:
I love Tasmania. I really, really love the place. I want to live here for the rest of my life, and I want my bones to lie here, along with the previous eight generation of my family buried here. I know that, even though I plan to travel when I'm older, I will always come back here, because, really...Where else could I live?
I was also reminded of a line from Terry Pratchett's 'Theif of time': The perfect moment is now. Be grateful for it.
I still have no idea why I wrote all that.
And Huon pine really does smell nice.
1.) List Four fandoms you have.
-D. Grey-man [or D grayman, or D. Gray-man, or D Greyman, or however you wanna spell it]
-...
2.) Have you ever slept in the back of a car?
Yes. Many, many times. Often results in cramps.
3.) Have you recently dyed your hair/cut it?
Yes, I just had a haircut.
4.) List four people that you look up to the most.
My brother (for he is taller than me)
My father (for he is more cynical than me)
My mother (for she is more patient than me)
Mr Terry Pratchett (for he is way, way, way cooler than me)
5.) How many pets do you own as of now?
Three, not counting my dear little dustbunnies, which I am breeding, or the mysterious things under my brother's bed (they have teeth and tentacles and things).
6.) Which do you prefer white or black?
Black.
7.) Who is your most played character?
Huh? Um... In Morrowind, that would be... Aw, damn, I've forgotten my character's name. I remember my brother's is called Waylander, but not my own...
8.) Choose one or the other, not both:
-Being stuck on an island with your best friend
-Being stuck on an island with 5 acquaintances
Um...If it were five aquaintences, then there'd be a better chance of one of us having a useful skill or two. Besides, then I could eat them if I ran out of food.
9.) Name three aspects that tell who you are.
-dumpy (to put it politely. And yes, that's the 'polite' way)
-Ill tempered
-Short sighted biblophile (yes, that really makes it four things, but I could skip 'biblophile')
10.) If you could have a power what would it be?
Fire bending, aaaall the way...
11.) Who was the last person you talked to?
My mother
12.) Who was the last person you said "I love you" to?
Ditto.
13.) Write down the first five words that pop into your head:
Bleach, grey, horse, sword, hair ( my mind is very odd)
14.) What's one thing you wish you could do better?
Draw.
15.) Do you like the way you are?
Depends on what mood I'm in (which can change at a scary rate)
16.) Choose, Summer or Winter:
Winter. I hate hot weather.
17.) Choose, Rain or snow:
Rain. I like to stand on our front veranda heavy rain without my glasses on, in jeans and a short-sleeved tee (barefoot, naturally), and just look out over the valley.
18.) Water or ice?
Water. Handy stuff.
19.) List two odd things about yourself:
-I pick apart bread rolls to eat them
-I peel Timtams, and Mars Bars, and Kitkats, and Smarties...
20) Tag six more people: Well, this could be a problem...
This is freakin hilarious.
Top twelve reasons homosexual marriage should not be legal:
1. Homosexuality is not natural, much like eyeglasses, polyester, and birth control.
2. Heterosexual marriages are valid because they produce children. Infertile couples and old people can’t legally get married because the world needs more children.
3. Obviously gay parents will raise gay children, since straight parents only raise straight children.
4. Straight marriage will be less meaningful, since Britney Spears’ 55-hour just-for-fun marriage was meaningful.
5. Heterosexual marriage has been around a long time and hasn’t changed at all; women are property, blacks can’t marry whites, and divorce is illegal.
6. Gay marriage should be decided by people not the courts, because the majority-elected legislatures, not courts, have historically protected the rights of the minorities.
7. Gay marriage is not supported by religion. In a theocracy like ours, the values of one religion are imposed on the entire country. That’s why we have only one religion in America.
8. Gay marriage will encourage people to be gay, in the same way that hanging around tall people will make you tall.
9. Legalizing gay marriage will open the door to all kinds of crazy behavior. People may even wish to marry their pets because a dog has legal standing and can sign a marriage contract.
10. Children can never suceed without a male and a female role model at home. That’s why single parents are forbidden to raise children.
11. Gay marriage will change the foundation of society. Heterosexual marriage has been around for a long time, and we could never adapt to new social norms because we haven’t adapted to cars or longer lifespans.
12. Civil unions, providing most of the same benefits as marriage with a different name are better, because a “seperate but equal” institution is always constitutional. Seperate schools for African-Americans worked just as well as seperate marriages for gays and lesbians will.
See? Absolutely hysterically funny.
Ok, several things-
*Today I went to the birthday party of a friend. I just wore jeans and a white t-shirt, with this sheer blue shirt over it- and boy did I stand out. Everyone else there was punk, goth, or a combination therof. Well, exept for the guy in the dress (you really don't want to know. Trust me). So for about 3 hours I was surrounded by strange, loud, hyper, anti-authoritarian loonies. I managed to escape with all my clothes dry (a near-run thing, though), and without being charged with anything. Or by anyone.
*Also, both Aicon and school are approaching at an alarming rate. As I'll be entering year 11 this year, I and my yearmates are going to be coming back one day early for a 'Leadership' course, as now we are entering year eleven we will be 'School Leaders', and we must set a 'Good Example'.
Me? Sarcastic? No, never...
*I've been listening to some of my brother's music. Some of it is just plain weird, but some of it is pretty cool. I've been listening to/watching (some of then are music videos or AMVs):
Sweet Dreams (Manson ver)
Girl anachronism (Dresden Dolls)
The Whitlams
I hope you die (don't know who it's by)
and all the songs he has from what I think of as "Buffy the Musical"- The episode where a dancing demon shows up and everyone starts bursting randomly into song. And they know it too! At one point several people sing "...It's getting eerie, what's this cheery singing all about?"
Very funny stuff.
*Finally, the scanner has (FI-BLOODY-NALLY) been fixed, so you WILL be seeing some art from me soon.
*EDIT*
Nope, I spoke too soon: the scanner has died again.
FOR CRYING OUT UNPRINTABLY THIS IS SUMMER PEOPLE!!! Two days ago it was 30 (hot for us), and I was getting sunburnt by a pool (and my shoulders are KILLING me). Today it's pouring with rain and my family have had to put down a few buckets and several towels to deal with leaks. There's this really big one right next to where I'm sitting- it's over a doorway, which is in the middle of the house, so if you want to get from one end of the house to the other dry, you'd better get an umbrella...
There's something wrong with that situation...
Also, I am currently working on two peices in Photoshop: one is simply a picture of a character in a story my brother's writing, the other is an entry for the 'Hug-an-apostrophe' competition at [link]
Oh, and for all (if any) non-Tassie readers out there, the title of this journal is a referance to a particularly obnoxious advertismant scheme by the City Council, which mainly consisted of showing ads with the repeditive lyrics of "You gotta love this city, to love this city...You gotta..." I have handed out gifts, I have recived gifts, and the most I have to do for the remainder of the year is gorge myself at the Taste (for an explanation of what that is, see my journal of Dec 9), call friends, worry about the maths sheets I'm meant to strudy, worry about my brother, worry about money, worry about joining a gym...
It's times like this I remember a grade 6 teacher who asked me (in regards to my frequent, violent tantrums), "If you cry over something like this, what will you do when something *really* sad happens?"
So, now I know [that is, I knew before today, thia is simply further verification of my theory]. I'll take it in quietly, then, some time later, go of and cry. Sounds like a good plan to me.
Yes, folks, it's that time of the year once again. The time for cheesy ads. The time for exessive spending. The time, in fact, for me to become even more broke than usual. *Weeps*
On a lighter note, I am now a member of the Brotherhood of Grammar ([link]). I am the Dark Master of the Colon. Sadly, this sounds like surgery.
Also, soon (well, soon-ish), two of the greatest events of the summer (yes, it's summer for me) will be arriving. One, the Taste of Tasmania; and two, the one and only AIcon! *cheers*
The Taste is the central point of the summer festival, a collection of city-council-organised events stetching from early December to late January. It's held down on the waterfront, in a large warehouse that stands emply for most of the rest of the year. Scores of seats and tables are set up, inside and out, and there's an additonal two pavillions erected; one for cooking demonstrations and the like, and the other with further tables and live entertainment. The remaining space if filled by the REASON for the tables: the stalls.
Some of the greatest purveyors of food and wine in the state (and, honestly, we have some pretty freakin' great people down here) come to the Taste. During the course of the Taste, my family often eat there daily.
Another really nice thing with the Taste is the buskers, who have their own space out front. My favorite regular act is a pair of Tasmainian acrobats called Popeyed. Yes, Pop-eye-d. They pretend to be Russian. Well, to be precise, they PRETEND to pretend to being Russian. They are very good, and very funny. They've really managed the balance between the tricks and the comedy very well.
The second event of the summer is AIcon- the one and only Tasmanian Anime Convention. It is, in fact, *next* year, but I keep finding myself thinking of it as this year's. This year's (...or last year's...um...anyway...) was the first ever Tasmanian Anime convention. I bought a lot of anime, and tried both Pocky (a staple of the traditional Otaku diet) and ramune (I'll check the spelling later) for the first time. I still have the bottle (yes, this is a sure sign of madness. Just so you know)
The holidays are looking pretty good.
Exams are evil. Evil, evil, evil. Fortunately, mine are over *breaths sigh of relief*.
First, there was German. Better than expected, but notheless two hours I could have spent better, say, being persued by a pack of rabid, half-starved wolverines?
French was worse. I spent the first half hour trying to answer questions about the passe compose (and yes, I KNOW those both had accents on the last letters, but I don't know how to insert that), and the remaining 1.5 hours drawing on scrap paper.
The next day was Maths. I hate maths. Hate, hate, hate, hate. Hate. And, just for good measure, loathing and detestation too. However, I don't think I did too badly, considering. I managed to answer slightly over half the questions in the 1.5 hours given, and (because most of the exam was multiple choice questions) guessed the remainder.
Then we had Faith and Life (also known as RE). That went suprisingly well, all things considered. This year we've been mainly working on Islam and phliosophy, so most of the questions were along the lines of "Pick any two of these five questions and write a paragraph about them in the space provided". The hardest was the main philosophy question, which was "pick one of these 3 senarios and answer the following questions", which would, ordinarily, not be a problem. The trouble in this case was, in each of the senarios, my response was "I wouldn't have to DEAL with this, because I wouldn't get INTO this! It's stupid! I'd have been a receeding dust cloud on the hrizon by the end of the first sentance! Rargh!" which would have scared the other people in the room.
Where was I? Oh, yes.
The next day, Thursday, was English. English consisted of a single question (which was neither 'What is your name?' nor 'Why?', by-the-by), about the text we'd been studing. Well, to be precise, it contained six questions (one for each text, two texts for each class (two different modern literature classes, and one pre-20th century lit class), but you only had to answer one. And, considering it was an essay exam, I did pretty well. I stink at writing essays, as many of my teachers could attest; but here I was able to write a whole two pages! Yay! Mind you, it was a six-page booklet, and I noticed that, during the course of the exam, some people actually needed to ask for another, as they had run out of room (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!).
The last exam, and probably the worst, was science. Due to the arragement of the subject (1/3rd of the the year doing chem, 1/3rd doing bio, and 1/3rd doing physics), this meant that any given person would be having an exam on one subject they hadn't done for more than half a year, and on another they hadn't done in a bit under a semester. This pretty much meant that, exept for the geniuses and the study-mad, almost every girl in my year was out of their brain with panic.
But it's all over now, and I can relax to some degree. Now I need to figure out what to do with my holidays.
Oh, and the scanner's broken. Until that's fixed, art is going to be pretty scanty...
My big brother, Charles, and I are (in theory) working on a webcomic, the working title for which is halfFALLEN. The main characters consist of:
Alex Black (really Ifan, a centuries-old angel who became so sick of fileing that he and and his assistant left Heaven and got incarnated as humans),
Fion Black [name may be subject to change] Alex's little sister (really Eloa, a centuries-old angel who followed her [actually, angels are fairly androgenous] sempai out of Heaven and got incarnated as his little sister).
Py, a friend of Alex (another angel incarnated as a human. His real name is Athansius)
Rown, an angel, and Alex's contact in Heaven.
AND:
Cat, Alex and Fion's cat (a deamon named Furcas, who was trying to incarnte as a human, but missed).
I may be posting some art for it soon (ish).
Because I can't think of anything particularly interesting to say, I'll break a big school rule and put information about myself over the internet. Just like everyone else.
Firstly: to anyone who's wondering, Spiegel is my REAL name. I didn't pick it from Cowboy Bebop or anything (although I do like Cowboy Bebop).
Secondly; me. I'm 16, I have an older brother who's at University learning how to laugh maniacally, and I have three pets; a Burmese cat called Cat, a Great Dane called Harley, and a goldfigh called Jaws (who once ate two catfish).
Thirdly; It has resently come to my attention that many people, despite initally liking something (e.g. anime, a band), stop liking it once it becomes popular. To this I can only say "PEOPLE! THIS IS STUPID! STOP! PLEASE!". If you like something, why let the actions of others change your mind? Speaking as someone who has been unmitigatingly unpopular for their whole life, it really doesn't MATTER. Their actions only affect you if you LET them.
Lastly, teachers who belive that if you ignore bullies, they will go away, are stupid. Very, very stupid.
